Speaker 1 (00:05):
It's Wednesday. You know what that means.
Speaker 2 (00:08):
It's time for All Eat Talk with the AAW van
Hub podcast team. This is Kelson and I'm joined tonight
by Sutton and we're going to review and talk about
episode two eighty nine of AAW Dynamite Spring Breakthrough from Boston, Massachusetts.
We opened the night with Mercedes Monette and Athena in
(00:32):
the owen Hart Cup semi finals for the women. Sutton,
I thought this was a smart move opening the night
with this, with this match, considering Monet's connection with Boston,
and let's face it, Athena's a you know, Adina got
a big pop.
Speaker 3 (00:50):
Yeah, And honestly it was a decent match. And I
say that because they finished it with a freaking roll
up Tony Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:00):
Yeah, but but it wasn't a surprise roll up. It
was an athletic move into a roll up.
Speaker 3 (01:06):
Yeah, but I mean they neither one of them use
their finisher to set it up. It was it was.
I mean, it's a roll up. If it's athletic, who cares,
it's still a roll up. You take the whole match,
no matter how good it is up until that point,
and if it doesn't include a finisher to get to
that point and you just roll them up. To me,
(01:27):
that's that this takes away from the whole match.
Speaker 1 (01:30):
Let's see.
Speaker 2 (01:30):
And I feel differently than you do, and I get
your point, but again, it wasn't like an orange Cassidy
fruit roll up that he's done over and over and
over again. This was, you know, an athletic move into
a roll up, you know. And I thought it was impactful.
I really did. And I think that that's a good
(01:52):
way to build a rivalry between the two because.
Speaker 1 (01:57):
Monette didn't win the match with per finisher.
Speaker 3 (02:03):
I get your point there, but I don't know for me,
if you're going to have a twenty five minute match,
don't end it with a roll up. I have somebody
hit a finisher. These two don't need a build up
for a rivalry. They've been doing that themselves in on
X and over the last month, besides the fact that
they both come from WWE and they've had dealings with
(02:24):
each other there. So I mean, I get it, but
I don't know, just for me, it just kind of
ruins the match. I want to see a match end
with someone hitting the finisher and make it look like
it was worth doing. That twenty five minutes.
Speaker 1 (02:38):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (02:39):
Well, here's the thing, you know, a couple of things
that I will say about this match. First, I thought
it was a wonderful match. I don't think they could
have done any better with the match. As a matter
of fact, I just think it was It was just
the right amount of athleticism, athleticism and brutality. I mean,
it was a very physical match, what you would expect
from Athena. So again I thought, I gotta give props
(03:02):
to Monette for adjusting to her opponent, you know, and
doing everything she could to make her opponent look good,
and Athena did everything that she could to make Monet
look good. So I thought they were very complimentary of
each other. The one thing that I didn't like was
Tony Storm coming out at the end to do it
a little golf clap from the balcony, because in my mind,
(03:23):
that tells me that it's going to be money versus
Tony Storm. Now, what's the even what's the point of this?
Speaker 3 (03:31):
Like you said about the tag titles going to the
uh uh the runners. If they have Monette win Women's
title while she holds the other five titles, I'm done.
With AW. I will never watch another AW show no
matter how long it runs. It will end it for
me because that would be the worst thing that Tony
(03:51):
Klong could do.
Speaker 1 (03:53):
Well, what I was going to say before you interrupted
me was.
Speaker 2 (03:58):
It kind of looks like is going to be facing
Tony Storm based on Tony Storm being in the balcony. Now,
if Tony Storm comes out tomorrow night, is that what
they're Is it tomorrow?
Speaker 1 (04:10):
They're doing the next semi finals Wednesday?
Speaker 3 (04:14):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (04:16):
But anyway, if she.
Speaker 2 (04:17):
Comes out during the next semifinals and does her little
golf clap or whatever, then I could I could be
more at ease. But right now, just by her coming
out and basically even well wordlessly confronting Monette, it kind
of looks like that's the way they're going.
Speaker 3 (04:35):
And uh, the match for the next semifinals next.
Speaker 1 (04:38):
Week, Okay, I kind of thought, so I I do.
Speaker 2 (04:42):
I didn't hear because I think the only match, well,
there's only one match announced for Collision tomorrow night, if
I'm not mistaken, unless I miss something at the end
of the show, which you know, I kind of came
here and started getting the podcast ready, so I missed,
like the last five minutes of the show.
Speaker 1 (05:00):
Well, we'll talk about that later. Uh.
Speaker 2 (05:03):
Now, the next segment, we had hangman Adam Page backstage
and all of a sudden, here comes to Young Bucks
and they had an interaction that I honestly, I'm not.
Speaker 1 (05:15):
Saying it was bad.
Speaker 2 (05:15):
I just didn't understand it.
Speaker 3 (05:19):
It's just them trying to insert that their help, they
helped him out by helping Swerve lose, and that they're
going to help him win the O and so that
he can get the world title and he's still part
of the elite. It's them being the obnoxious piece of
crap that they are. My favorite part of that though,
(05:42):
was Okada. He just he just every time he's on
the show and he does that crap like that, he
just cracks me up.
Speaker 2 (05:49):
Yeah, I mean he's living his best life. I mean
he's a walking meme. Yeah, well that's he is just
a me. He's just a mean come to life. That's
all I kinda is. And Buddy's do we get right?
I Mean he's entertaining. Every time I find myself like
holding my breath when Okada's up there because I want
(06:09):
to hear what he's gonna say. And then of course
I want to hear him say bitch. Now, some people
don't like that, but I like it. I think it's cool.
I think it's part of his personality. Obviously, I am
not a hard man to please, but I like it.
Speaker 3 (06:26):
Yeah, And like my son just told me, you know,
Okada only does it once a week. They're not overusing it,
so he's not coming out every show doing something. He's
not having matches all the time, so everything he does
is keeping it fresh. So that's yeah, really makes it.
It makes it special. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (06:46):
Well he only says bitch when he's backstage, you know,
or in the ring with the microphone, but he doesn't
have a microphone specifically when he's in the ring. He
just flips off the crowd. Yeah, well specifically the crowd
at home because he's doing at the hardcam side. Of course,
that means that we go right into hangman at in
(07:06):
page versus the wild card? Who is Josh Alexander? Who
is officially, according to Tony Kahan post on Twitter, Josh
Alexander is now officially all laite.
Speaker 1 (07:25):
What did you think of this match?
Speaker 3 (07:27):
It was a good match. I mean I didn't know
what to expect from Josh because I don't know him.
I've never seen him anywhere before, so I didn't know
what to expect from him.
Speaker 2 (07:36):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (07:38):
I kind of think that for Paige, it kind of
seemed like he was a little toned down than normal.
I think that the whole swerve thing when he apologized
at the paper at the last time they had their
backstage interruption interaction kind of threw him for a loop,
and he's kind of like, it just didn't seem like
the regular Adam Page to me.
Speaker 1 (08:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (08:01):
You know, it's funny because I am not super familiar
with Josh Alexander, but I have seen him a couple
of times now. Tonight I got and I don't know
if you've caught this, but just the way they were
talking about him and whatnot, and just the way he
(08:21):
moved in his size and everything, I got. Really, I
got Trent Bretta vibes from him.
Speaker 3 (08:28):
Yeah, I can see that, Yeah kind of. I mean,
like I said, I've never seen him before, so I
don't know, you know, I mean from the way they
talked about him, like, yeah, I get it. I can
see him being another Trent Bretta, maybe a little athletic
been trenta same vein.
Speaker 2 (08:49):
Yeah, I mean, he was very athletic. He was he
was he had great stamina. That was not a short match,
and they did a lot. They did a lot in
that match, and Hangman out of Page could go. He
could put on an iron Man match easily, and he
could put on a match where there's a lot of
brutality and blood and whatnot. He's proven that time and
time again. He puts on emotional, brutal matches. Josh Alexander
(09:15):
did not look winded at any point during that match,
which I appreciated. But look, when when Josh Alexander was announced,
I was like, are they going to have Josh Alexander
win against Hangman ad and paid age? And if they
don't have him win, which he didn't win, I was wondering, well,
(09:36):
what's the point. Well, thank goodness, Kyle Fletcher came out
and Don Kallis came out, and we saw the point
because Don Kallus apparently made a plea maybe some money
was promised or maybe a spot in the don Kallis family,
don Kallas is recruiting. But Josh Alexander got in the
(09:58):
ring and wrecked Hangman paid So I thought that was
a good you know, a good ending because if nothing else,
it established Josh Alexander's place as.
Speaker 1 (10:13):
A heel at aw Yeah, I agree.
Speaker 2 (10:19):
Yeah, So I don't know if he's going to be
joining the don Kallis family. I don't know if this
was just a one off kind of thing, but again,
it kind of established Josh Alexander's place.
Speaker 3 (10:30):
The way that the guys were talking, though they say
they kind of intimated that him and Callous have a
history that's not a good history. So I don't know.
We'll see what happens when it plays out as the
time goes on.
Speaker 2 (10:44):
I guess, well, to be fair, who has a good
history with Don Kallis. You know in the wrestling world,
he's pretty much a jerk for the last years, So
anybody's come across probably he's you know, screwed over at
(11:05):
some point.
Speaker 3 (11:06):
Well, there's there's there's plenty of Don Kallis fans there.
We keep getting these Don Coles look like cracking me up.
Speaker 2 (11:13):
He's hilarious and he and he has a way of
interacting with him. Now, they didn't show it tonight that
I saw, but last week they showed him interacting with
the fake Don Callas actually having like a conversation like
he was getting advice or giving advice to the other guy.
Speaker 3 (11:32):
You know, he was not happy with it, and he
was kind of to me it looked like he was
yelling at him. But you know, who knows what don
Kellis says to somebody off camera or off like.
Speaker 2 (11:43):
You know that we had a This was kind of
an interesting segment to me, got a little bit confusing
at the same time because we had the patriarchy backstage,
including Kristian Cage, and the last time we saw I
Will said hook Nick Wayne. They look so much alike
(12:04):
Nick Wayne and Christian Cage together there was a little
bit of a confrontation, but tonight it looked like other
than a couple of brutal slaps across the face, it
looked like Christian Cage was kind of on the war
forgiving side of Nick Wayne. And that was the match
(12:25):
that was announced for Collision tomorrow night. Is Nick Wayne
versus Commander.
Speaker 1 (12:32):
For the r OHTV title.
Speaker 3 (12:35):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (12:37):
I hope that God Nick Wayne doesn't win it because
I think Commander. As I said last night, Commander is
one of my favorite wrestlers. I can't help but root
for the guy. He just Commander is one of those guys.
It's just never is disappointing me in the ring. But
what did you think of this segment as a whole.
Speaker 3 (12:54):
I mean, I see it though totally oppositely what you did,
because Christian is is giving that you better not lose.
You're disappointing me, and he's just adding fuel to the
fire of them of the patriarchy breaking up because the
slabs were not like good job or and pretty much
(13:15):
to me it sounded like he said, don't disappoint me
or there's going to be an issue, and I don't
see them being together for much longer.
Speaker 1 (13:25):
Yeah, you're you're you're probably right again.
Speaker 2 (13:28):
I mean, Lucasaurus could play a part in that storyline
or you know, kill switches such as it is. Uh,
but you know, hey, it was an interesting little segment
and it did set up at least it's set up
a match for tomorrow night.
Speaker 1 (13:43):
That's if there was.
Speaker 2 (13:45):
There's one thing that I can say about Tonight's Dynamite
is they didn't do a good job of setting up
Thursday collision.
Speaker 3 (13:53):
I did. My son did say that there's an open
challenge for the T and T title, and and there
is a women's tag match with Mercedes and Harley. I
don't know who their opponents are, but they he said
those two matches were also talked about. I saw they
said something at the end, but I didn't catch what
(14:14):
they were saying. I was going in between the living
room and kitchen for a minute and I missed the matches.
But those two matches were also at it tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (14:22):
Okay, well, that's gonna have to look it up. After
the show that we had kind of well, we knew
it was going to be a squat squash match. It
was the Gates of Agony versus the Hurt Syndicate. I
think they did, meaning the Hurts they get, did everything
they could, including m VP, to make the Gates of
Agony look as good as they could, and they did
(14:43):
look pretty good in this match.
Speaker 1 (14:44):
They did some they did some good good work.
Speaker 3 (14:47):
Yeah, I liked it. I didn't think it was too bad.
I think they came out strong and again, for whatever reason,
they seem to be on this thing where the people
you expect to win start out a little weaker than normal,
and this is like the second time they've done that
with the Hurt Syndicate in the last two tag titles.
Shots that they've given up when they had Big Bill,
(15:08):
And uh, yeah, and.
Speaker 1 (15:11):
I do I do so, I do so enjoy you
knowing half the people not knowing.
Speaker 3 (15:17):
I can't think of his name. I know, I was
thinking the bounty Hunter, but the bad Apple was what
they should of coding. But yeah, they did the same
thing with those at the pay per view. They came out,
they got the upper hand for the first five minutes,
and then the Hurt Syndicate looked strong and they're finished.
So I mean, I guess that's what you expect from
the Hurt Syndicate. You couldn't have them come out and
(15:38):
just beat the crap out of everybody the entire time,
because in every matchup this fars.
Speaker 1 (15:43):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (15:43):
Well look, there has been some rumors going around for
the last couple of weeks or more really that m
JF is working to get his own faction and stable again.
And I remember the last faction that he was in
was the Pinnacle. Well, uh, he got in the ring
(16:05):
and said that he had some friends that he wanted
to introduce to the Hurt.
Speaker 1 (16:10):
Syndicate, and my, honest to God, thought he was gonna.
Speaker 2 (16:13):
Bring out like Wardlow and Powerhouse Hobbs, you know, some
big guys. What came out was a definitely the pinnacle
that came out was definitely legier. Maybe he hadn't had
smaller breastacles than Hobbs and ward Low, but yeah, that was.
(16:35):
That was a definite WWE attitude era skank ho.
Speaker 1 (16:42):
Throwback.
Speaker 2 (16:43):
I mean it was and I don't know kind of set.
It was a nostalgic I can and it was funny
because I thought it was funny because it looked like
Shelton bedge of it particularly was a jointing the hell.
Speaker 1 (17:02):
Out of the whole thing. Oh yeah, Bobby Lashley could
barely contain himself.
Speaker 2 (17:07):
And I'm thinking, you know, I'm thinking, Bobby, I'm looking
at Bobby Lashley's face and I'm thinking he's saying, first,
basic a base, third base, home run, single, double, triple,
home run, baseball, baseball, baseball. I mean, I swear to God,
just to look on his face was like, please, God,
don't touch me.
Speaker 1 (17:23):
I can't take it.
Speaker 3 (17:25):
Was that was that was That was the city. That
was the thing of the night, that set that whole piece.
There was the thing of the night for that because
I'm sitting here the whole time laughing. As soon as
I saw what he was doing, I kind of had
a feeling that was what was coming. And when they
started coming out, I'm sitting here laughing my ass off
because mjfis is up in the corner like he always does,
(17:48):
and he's got the biggest she shit eating green grin
on his face of anybody. I've never seen him e
a grin like that. It was so funny and it
was a good segment.
Speaker 2 (17:58):
Yeah, and I'm wondering how many of those women MGF
has actually dated in the past. I don't know, I
because I remember when they had MGF come out.
Speaker 1 (18:11):
It was one of those shows they had him come out.
Speaker 2 (18:13):
They were he was carrying on like a oh, what
do you call it, like a caricter, I don't know
what you call it. But they had him like he
had like they had like people carrying his chair and
he had they had the girls with him, and when
he got on the ring apron he kissed one of
the girls like rather passionately. It turned out that it
(18:34):
was his girlfriend at the time. But yeah, I was like, yeah,
the same shit eating grid the entire time.
Speaker 3 (18:45):
He's just MF is great in the ring, great on
the mic and some of the stuff that he does
outside of that is just unreal.
Speaker 2 (18:57):
Yeah, I don't know, man, it's MJF is one of
those guys that what is the god right now? I
think it's at a tough spot for him because he's
a great heel and he's a great babyface.
Speaker 1 (19:18):
But right now it doesn't seem.
Speaker 2 (19:20):
Like he's he's he's neither, because even the crowd is
still the crowds are still like he's our scumbag.
Speaker 3 (19:31):
Well with MJF, he's a traditional tweener. He doesn't fit
fully into either side he is. He's kind of like
what Triple H was during d X years. Triple H
always wanted everybody wanted to call him a bad guy,
but he wasn't a bad guy. He was a tweener.
He could go either way. And that's what MJF is.
The same thing. One day he could come out and
be the meanest piece of crap on the planet, and
(19:52):
the next day he can come out and get do
stuff like he did tonight. So I love that about
him because honestly, on the roster, he's one of the
only true wieners they actually have.
Speaker 2 (20:07):
Yeah, before we move on to the next match there
were We talked about this last night. It's been a
busy twenty four hours for a W. I mean when
you think about just think about this.
Speaker 1 (20:27):
They had.
Speaker 2 (20:30):
To prepare for Dynamite tonight. They have a Thursday collision.
Yesterday morning they announced Dynamite and Collision in Glasgow, Scottan, Scotland,
and Forbidden doored the same week in London at the
O two Today this morning they announced Grand Slam Mexico
(20:57):
taking place in the sixteen thousand and five hundred seat
Arena Mexico. And they have a really, really, really strong
chance of selling that thing out, like will days of
those tickets going on sale, because I mean, the Mexican
(21:19):
fans are all there for AW. Even CMML has said
that the partnership with a W has done so much
for their.
Speaker 1 (21:29):
Viewership, which I guess that's what it's all about.
Speaker 2 (21:34):
So and then of course from the news out of
New Japan is Bushie and NATO are gone. They've left,
following in the footsteps of Josh Woods. Of course, Boushie
and NATO are both I believe they're both forty two
years old. NATO of course has all kinds of physical
(21:54):
issue issues. Which is not a knock on him. I mean,
I mean, the guy's a legend. I mean, how many
championships as he held to do Japan. I mean it's
it's almost obscene how good he was. But he's just
not that guy anymore.
Speaker 3 (22:08):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (22:09):
And I don't think that he's a good fit for
AW door do. I think Boushie is a good fit
for a W or w W for that. But I
think they're gonna be free lancers. They're gonna I wouldn't
be surprised to see them come and do a match,
you know, on a special occasion, you know, just uh,
but I really think they did, especially Nato w. He
(22:31):
just needs rest, you know, get healed up, live his
best life for the rest of his life.
Speaker 1 (22:36):
He's put in his time and thank you for it, definitely,
you know, That's all I can say.
Speaker 2 (22:42):
So now we go to will Osprey and Kenoski Takeshta.
Speaker 1 (22:48):
You know, it should be illegal to put this.
Speaker 2 (22:51):
Kind of these kind of matches on a on a
on a television show. Yeah, this is a pay per
view match on free TV. Uh. The crowd was going
holy shit before the match even started, Yeah, and loud,
and they're chanting Osprey's name. They were booing Takesha lustily.
(23:15):
I mean, this was just a terrific match.
Speaker 3 (23:20):
Definitely in the match in the night, define.
Speaker 1 (23:22):
The match of the night.
Speaker 2 (23:23):
Uh, it might might be the match on TV of
the year.
Speaker 3 (23:29):
Yeah, that was That was incredible, And just when you
think it was gonna end, they just kicked it into
another gear and went even higher. I was like, oh
my god, is this I didn't think it was gonna end. Honestly,
I didn't know how they were gonna end that. That
was just crazy.
Speaker 2 (23:44):
Yeah, you know what, it all became a blurb. But
you know, I will say something here is that Taqushta
and Osprey are not for everybody.
Speaker 1 (23:53):
You know.
Speaker 2 (23:53):
You post a highlight reel of this match on the
internet and you're going to have people tear it down.
I get it, you know, flippity matches or not for everybody,
you know, just like some people don't like women's wrestling,
you know, because this is not for them. You know,
I don't particularly care for Trio's matches. They're they're not
(24:15):
for me. But one thing you can obviously say is
these guys didn't take a break. I mean, there was
no two minute headlocks in this match.
Speaker 1 (24:29):
They were going at it the.
Speaker 2 (24:32):
I guess what I said is you have to whether
you don't like this type of match or not, you
have to admire the physical stamina, at the very least
the stamina that these two men demonstrated tonight. I mean,
they were just a million miles an hour and these
(24:52):
were not like swigs and misses. These were full contact
bumps that they were taking.
Speaker 1 (25:00):
Brilliant.
Speaker 2 (25:01):
I just really, I mean, my big worry with guys
like Osprey at Takeshta on the roster is that aw
fans and wrestling fans in general are gonna start taking
them for granted.
Speaker 1 (25:14):
And I just don't want to see that happen.
Speaker 3 (25:17):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (25:18):
I get you.
Speaker 3 (25:18):
I get that. I can see that happening. But for
me with like Osterbury, I mean, so far they've done
matches where they have this kind of match and then
not that they're worst matches, they're just a different they're
a lower level match. Like when Osprey faced Kevin I
(25:39):
can't think of his last name, but that was a
great match. Yeah. I know he's too new, he ain't
been around long enough, but when he had that match
with him, that match was a great match too, but
it wasn't at this level, and that I think is
what's important in how they keep their instead of people
(26:01):
taking like expecting them to do this all the time.
Osprey especially, I take catch this is the same. They
have a certain level where they can go to and
look awesome every night, but then they have the level
that is pay per view level that they can bring out,
especially against each other, that just is off the charts.
Speaker 2 (26:26):
Yeah, so we're not gonna get the don Kallis family
facing each other in the finals of the Owen Hart.
It's starting to look a lot like it's gonna be h. Well, look,
we don't will Osprey is there. We've got a hang
man at him page on Kyle Fletcher. Who do you
(26:47):
think is gonna win that match?
Speaker 3 (26:51):
I want to say Fletcher, but for some reason, I
think the Bucks are gonna cost that match for Fletcher. Okay,
I just I would love to see Kyle Fletcher and
Osprey again, but we've seen them three times this year already,
(27:11):
and doing another Fletcher Ospray match at a pay per
view again this close to the last one, I think
is a little too much.
Speaker 2 (27:22):
I just w yeah, you know, I let me interrupt
you here, because remember, not so very long ago, we
had the same situation between John Moxley and Hangman Adam Page.
It was less than two years ago. They had three
matches back to back, and then they put them in
a two matches back to back, and then they put
(27:42):
them in a pay per view in the third match
and a death match, and I was very I was
very vociferous, very vociferous, saying exactly what you just said.
Speaker 1 (27:53):
It's too soon.
Speaker 2 (27:54):
I really don't want to see Hangman Adam Paige and
John Moxley part three again. I mean, it was just
I just didn't want to see them again.
Speaker 1 (28:05):
What did they go do? They went out there put
on a brutality masterpiece.
Speaker 2 (28:12):
I loved every second in that match, and I had
to come on this podcast the next week and eat
Crow and I did big time, and I'm still doing it.
I apologize. So yeah, I get your point. I don't
really see why they would put Osprey and Fletcher in
(28:33):
another match again so soon. You know, we just had
to still where'd they go from the still cage match?
It's really pold swimming pool full of sharks. Buddy, there
you go.
Speaker 1 (28:49):
Jump the shark.
Speaker 3 (28:50):
Let's let you do it pupil sticks on a grease.
You know what you're.
Speaker 1 (28:58):
Old about the seeing the original jump the Shark. So yeah,
I remember when when that whole Jump the Shark happened
and I was like, oh god, this is bad.
Speaker 3 (29:11):
Uh, She'll do a scaffold deaf match. That would be
the next day. I mean that would be, you know,
bring back the the Road Warriors from back in the
day and have them come in and train them how
to do a scaffold death match. Maybe if those two
go at it.
Speaker 2 (29:26):
Who is h John Moxley? That John Moxley? Who is
Kyle Fletcher's what's his what's his girlfriend's name?
Speaker 3 (29:35):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (29:36):
I can't remember. Huh sky Blue?
Speaker 3 (29:40):
Who isn't this sky Blue?
Speaker 1 (29:44):
Not will Ospray.
Speaker 2 (29:45):
That's about you, said Fletcher. I can think of her name,
but she's brestled in a w Alex Windsor. What they
should do is have an Alex w Windsor and sky
Blue on a poll man and the winner gets both
of them. Of course, of course, Uh if Osprey wins
(30:09):
Alex winder windsorill bitch slap you know, Kyle, I've not
talking about you, but bitch slap will Osprey and if
you know, Vice Versa sky Blue will take care of that.
Speaker 1 (30:19):
But yeah, I mean I would, I mean they.
Speaker 2 (30:25):
But yeah, I would to I would, I would, I'd
I'd like to see Hangman Adam Page. But if it
is Kyle Fletcher, I wouldn't be upset about it because
I had to crow so hard with that previous matter
to Hangman and Page and and John Moxley. You know
(30:46):
years ago, that's the one that ended with Hangman, Adda
and Paige hanging John Moxley by the neck with a
chain outside of the ring. That's you know, that's a
match that I'm talking about. But again, where do you
they just had a steel case match? You know, where
do you go from there?
Speaker 3 (31:06):
What the men's side of the the men's own has had,
has the most, had the most potential going in because
no matter who won and went to the finals, be
it Osprey and Taqusha or Taqusha and Fletcher or whoever
it was, it didn't matter. It was going to be
(31:28):
a superior match at the pay per view, no matter
who it was, didn't matter. But I don't know what
the women's with the women's side of it, with the
the threat that money may be in the is in
the final, one might win. That just it just it
just kills it from me. It's just it's just not
the same.
Speaker 1 (31:46):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (31:47):
I I have to admit that I was rather disappointed
that Athena didn't win this match tonight.
Speaker 1 (31:53):
I really was. But it made sense.
Speaker 2 (31:55):
It was in the it was in Monett's hometown of Boston.
It didn't make sense for her to, you know, to
win this match. But hopefully, hey, look at it this way.
We've got Hater versus Statlander next week on Dynamite, right, yeah,
if Statlander wins that, it's gonna be Statlander versus Monet
(32:18):
three already and we're talking, we're looking and again, I
don't care. I think that would be a great match.
But some people will say they just keep doing the
same match over and over again, you know, especially if
Fletcher has to face Osprey Fletcher, Osprey, Statlander, Monet.
Speaker 1 (32:37):
Uh, you know, we're.
Speaker 2 (32:40):
Just gonna keep writing the same story till it gets popular. Yeah,
because that's what happens with the Death Writers every week.
Speaking of which, that's the next match, the trios match
between the Death Writers and the Opps with Powerhouse Hobbs.
And I have to admit something not for lack of
wanted to watch it. I did have to take my
(33:02):
dogs out, and I pretty much missed the entire thing.
I caught the very very end when the Opps minus
Hook who got taken out by the death writers earlier today.
I'm sure that's k Fabe. I'm sure they didn't said
up to the hospital.
Speaker 3 (33:22):
But I got a question for you on this, okay,
Is there is there a reason Taz does not go
to Boston because this year he didn't go there. Last
year he was was it last year when he had
the surgery, he wasn't there. He has not been on
the MIC in Boston yet.
Speaker 1 (33:41):
No god fearing New Yorker or a long islander waver.
So he's seen dead in Boston, Massachusetts.
Speaker 3 (33:48):
I guess that's the reason. But literally, that just is like,
why is Taz always absent and then his son doesn't
go that? That's that's kind of weird to me.
Speaker 4 (33:57):
But I thought it was weird that they would is
I'd like to know outside of KFE what what was
going on there, because.
Speaker 2 (34:09):
I mean, we knew last night, we talked about it
last night. We all assumed that the Opps were gonna
win this this title match. But we didn't think that
it was gonna be without Hook.
Speaker 3 (34:25):
I kind of like I kind of think it was.
It was. It wasn't so much to disparage Hook. I
think it was to give Powerhouse Hobbs the title.
Speaker 1 (34:38):
I don't know, I don't know. That couldn't only right.
Speaker 3 (34:42):
It was the second best match of the night. It
was an excellent match. The only thing that would have
made it better would have been a knuckle, a knuckle
or a muscle buster out of the corner on Maxley.
That's the only thing that would have made the match
end better.
Speaker 1 (34:58):
A knuckle knuckle U mustlebuster, musclebuster. Once you get the
really surprised, Yeah.
Speaker 3 (35:07):
I was really surprised that mox tapped. I did not
see that coming.
Speaker 1 (35:12):
Did he tap? Because I thought they just I thought
he he.
Speaker 3 (35:16):
Might have went out. But still to have your world
that you said, I think you were one last night
that said that would be odd for Moxley to lose.
It might have been Barry, one of you two said
something about that last night, And honestly, I never expected
them to have mox be the one to lose that
kind of I mean that this is the beginning of
the destruction of the Death Riders because now they're no
(35:39):
longer the indestructible team that they were. They lost, no excuses.
Speaker 1 (35:45):
Yeah, well, you know here's the thing.
Speaker 2 (35:50):
Now, I did read so again, I didn't get to
see this match, and I what the parts that I
did get to see.
Speaker 1 (35:56):
It was right at the end.
Speaker 2 (35:58):
Somebody said to me, I read somewhere that somebody said
that John Moxley was wearing black Bowl Combat Club gear.
Speaker 1 (36:06):
During this match.
Speaker 3 (36:07):
Just look like Yeaddy's normal stuff on. I didn't.
Speaker 2 (36:10):
I mean, somebody said something, don't, but I didn't get
an opportunity to check it. I'm gonna have to go
back and look at that. My biggest problem with the
current storyline. I don't get me wrong. I am thrilled
that the Death Writers are no longer Treo's champions because
(36:33):
Crew to Death Writers. Okay, but but if I have
to wait for the winner, Allen Heart, I might have
to wait till July for the for a real challenger,
for a real challenge to John Moxley for the aw
World Championship. I'm probably not gonna just say. I'm just
(36:55):
gonna tell you right now, Will Osbury wins the Owen
Hart when it comes to all in, I'm probably not
gonna watch that match again.
Speaker 1 (37:07):
It's just one of those things where it's over.
Speaker 2 (37:10):
Get give it to command or give it to Sirpentaco,
give it to Megan Bain, Get the belt off, John Moxley.
The story sucks. It sucked for a long time. It's
unwatchable now. I did intend to watch this tonight. Unfortunately,
my dogs, you know, had different plans for me.
Speaker 1 (37:32):
Overall.
Speaker 2 (37:33):
What did you think of this episode on ABCD F grade?
What would you give this episode spring breakthrough dynamite from.
Speaker 3 (37:44):
To be honest with you, I want to give it
a C for the simple factors. They made such a
big deal about this being the episode that beats WCW
and did absolutely brought back Christian, They debuted Alexander and
that was it. They did nothing else but talk about
it like five times. They didn't do it.
Speaker 2 (38:06):
They they they they they debuted Josh Alexander, they brought
back Christian, they debuted the new Pinnacle, and they crowned
Trio Trio's champions. What the what do you want? And
they had and Athena, which is you know, I know
you don't care, but that is a big time match.
Speaker 3 (38:27):
If you're going to make a big deal about something,
and that's all you talk about in the weeks coming
up to how it's such a big deal that you're
beating the record, you're beating how the time that w
c W has been on the show, so something with it.
So it was a show for me. It was a
(38:49):
B plus show for.
Speaker 2 (38:50):
Me because that's fair because I was gonna say, because
they want to give it a seat, okay, I thought
you were giving it a seal, was like, that's kind
of harsh.
Speaker 3 (39:00):
I wanted to give it a C for the simple
fact if you can't make this a big deal like
that and do nothing. They had nobody other than Josh
Alexander and a returning Christian. We talked about it last night.
There are so many people they could have had come
on who have a history with TVs, TNTWCW, that are
(39:21):
working with or have worked with AEW and nobody, not
a soul. They did nothing but mention it four or
five times and that's it. But up to the beginning
up to the show, they kept making this like it's
such a great deal in it. To me, that's disappointing
because if you're gonna make a big deal out of it.
Make a big deal out of it. Do something. Don't
(39:44):
have the women's match go thirty minutes at the beginning
of the show and then have another thirty minute show
match and then three matches that went less than twenty
five minutes in the last hour and do nothing to
celebrate what you're talking about. It makes no sense to me.
I was just like, are you kidding me?
Speaker 1 (40:04):
Well, in my opinion, this was a B plus show
for me. The matches were great. Okay, look.
Speaker 2 (40:16):
Aw, this year in twenty twenty five has done a
tremendous job of how do I put it?
Speaker 1 (40:23):
Flowing from one segment to the other. Tonight was a
little bit disjointed.
Speaker 2 (40:27):
It was kind of a little other than the Bucks
with Hangman leading directly into the Hangman and Josh Alexander match.
There wasn't that flow, and there wasn't that good natured
humor you know in the back and stuff like that
that they've had before. I that that gets a little
(40:50):
bit of a minor x we got. What I thought
was the most surprisingly positive thing of the show was
the Gates of Agne versus the Hurtzitnikon. I thought the
gates of Agony performed extremely well and took their time
on the main show and made the most of it.
Speaker 1 (41:10):
And I do give.
Speaker 2 (41:13):
MVP a lot of credit for his work and trying
to push Gates of Agony. He was talking about them
as if he believed it, and it made me believe
it as well. I thought that that was great. I
really did. The other thing I've already I've already mentioned
this that I didn't particularly care for, but I didn't
(41:36):
give this. Some didn't didn't add this to my B
plus score. I'm just going to say this again, is
that apparently they waited to the very very very very
very end of the show to promote tomorrow night's collision.
And I think that they should have done that throughout
the show. They should have kept driving at home, driving
at home, driving at home, and they didn't. They only
(41:59):
announce to Nick, Wayne and Commander match earlier in the show,
and then they waited until the very end to announce
the others, And frankly, a lot of people as soon
as the match between the Opps and the Death Writers
was over, a lot of people probably changed the channel
or turned off the TV or watch something else and
missed that announcement to begin with.
Speaker 1 (42:19):
I know I did.
Speaker 2 (42:20):
I turned off the TV because I was coming here
to prepare for the for the podcast.
Speaker 1 (42:25):
As soon as the match was over.
Speaker 2 (42:27):
I didn't think that anything was gonna happen after the match,
and from what I understand, nothing did.
Speaker 3 (42:33):
So, yeah, they just did the celebration. I mean, I
don't know if you missed the missed it. That sword
was out and took care of the bucks and Marina
got taken out by uh my brain is done, but yeah,
I mean there were things.
Speaker 1 (42:48):
No, wait, we're going back to revisit this. Marina got
taken out by who.
Speaker 3 (42:55):
I can't think of her name right now.
Speaker 1 (42:58):
Destro her for me, then try to know who it is.
But you've gotta come up. Okay, it's a female. We're
gonna play here. It's a female.
Speaker 3 (43:09):
Yeah, it's a female.
Speaker 2 (43:11):
Her first name is the same as a name of
a tree, willow.
Speaker 3 (43:18):
There you go. Okay, Yeah, I got issues. My brain
ain't working right today, so that's the problem.
Speaker 1 (43:26):
Any day of the week, or actually quite use No, it's.
Speaker 3 (43:30):
A that's a heart condition thing. But that's besides the point.
But yeah, I mean it was. It was. It was
interesting how many people got involved in the match without
getting involved in the match and costing anybody crossing the
chance for it to happen. And then the celebration afterwards
was pretty good. They haven't had a celebration like that
for a while. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (43:51):
I I came into the match when Marina shaffer hit
I believe it was Powerhouse Hobbs with the chair, and
then Willow came the blow Nightingale by the way, I
came and took out Marina Shaffir. They dead caught the
swerve and I was like, okay, well swerve is here
and it looks like he did something. I had no
idea the Bucks were even part of it until you
(44:13):
said something.
Speaker 3 (44:13):
Well, what happened was when Maxley wanted to under the
rink to get a chair and was going to take
a chair in the ring. Willow came out, took the
chair off and flipped him off. Then it was about
to be over again, and that's when the Bucks came out.
They started acting like they were going to do something.
They walked over to the corner where Serve was. I
(44:36):
can't remember which one grabbed the chair first, but one
of them grabbed the Bucks, grabbed the chair, went to
do something swerve, took the chair off of him, did
the he did his swerve stump on both of them.
Then he threw him out of the arena into the corner,
over into the crowd, and then he stood there and
watched the rest of the match. So they had a
lot of people get involved in the match without getting
(44:58):
involved in the match. So it added to the whole
excitement of the match, to be honest.
Speaker 2 (45:04):
Yeah, I would have loved you know, we talked about
this last night.
Speaker 1 (45:09):
I would have loved to have just like seen Brian
Danielson in the crowd.
Speaker 3 (45:14):
Yeah, because he was.
Speaker 2 (45:15):
He's been backstage at a few shows they've already have said,
so it would have been nice to see him, you know.
Speaker 1 (45:21):
And uh, the only.
Speaker 3 (45:22):
Thing that couldn't surprise me with the Bucks coming out
that a Kada didn't.
Speaker 1 (45:27):
Yeah, that's a good point.
Speaker 3 (45:29):
I mean, I really would have been interesting if he did.
But I mean he didn't really have anything. He doesn't
have anything to do with all that, to be honest.
Speaker 2 (45:36):
Yeah, but look, it was an interesting show.
Speaker 1 (45:38):
It was an enjoyable show.
Speaker 2 (45:40):
There wasn't really anything that made me roll my highs
back in the back of the fore forehead. Uh the
osprey to catch the match was fantastic, but you know what,
it was almost a leftown because you expect it to
be fantastic, true, you know what I mean. You know,
I thought Monane that did it did great. The Hangman
(46:00):
section backstage with the Bunch was a little confusing. Josh
Alexander and Hangman had a really good match. The Patriarchy
thing was interesting, Gates of Agne overperformed. I thought they
did great, and the Trails match I didn't get to see.
But other than that, there was only really two segments backstage,
and neither of them were, you know, fantastic or memorable.
Speaker 1 (46:22):
So you know, it is what it is. It was
a good show. It was a good show.
Speaker 2 (46:28):
I mean there was, but there was nothing like, oh wow,
special about it. And I hate saying that because we
saw Ospray and Takeshta, but you expect them to be
Ospray and Takeshta, right, you know, at this point I
want to see what I want to see Ospray and
Takeshta get the most out of guys like I don't know,
(46:49):
John Silver and Commander.
Speaker 1 (46:52):
You know, I want to see them.
Speaker 2 (46:53):
You know, look, say what you want I know, you know,
you're not a big fan of Mercedes Monett, but if
you look down the line over the so six or
seven matches, it's easily easily said, in my opinion that
Monet has gotten the best matches out of her opponent's
You know that out of her A W opponents at least.
Speaker 1 (47:16):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (47:17):
Of course, Chris Statlander is fantastic, and the two matches
that they had, they were they were great. I thought
she gave uh Yukazakazaki. I believe she fought Yuka, and
Yuku did fantastic and Julia Hart did fantastic. Uh. Look,
that's that's her job, make make your opponents look good.
(47:38):
And I think she's doing that.
Speaker 3 (47:39):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (47:40):
And I think I'd like to see Will Osprey and
Kudoskate Takeshta do that kind of thing.
Speaker 1 (47:45):
With some of these like Wheeler.
Speaker 2 (47:48):
You'da I'd like to see Osprey bring the best out
of Wheeler.
Speaker 1 (47:52):
Dah put it that way. You see what I'm.
Speaker 2 (47:53):
Saying there, You know, Takeshta bring in the best out
of Eddie Kingston.
Speaker 3 (48:00):
The women's match tonight, like I said before, it was
a better than expected match for me, except for the
fact that they had a roll up. Regardless if it
was more athletic or not, it's still ruined the match
for me. It wouldn't matter if it would have been
you know, Maney versus Thattlander, or Maney versus camera, or
(48:21):
you know, anybody that was in that match. You finish
a match that is has twenty five minutes, it went
almost twenty five. Almost twenty five minutes it went, and
you have all that stuff, And to me, when you
roll somebody up, you just take away from the rest
of the match. It was what's the point? So you know,
other than that, like I said, you know, it wasn't
(48:41):
a bad match. It would have been better if it
had a finisher.
Speaker 2 (48:46):
Yeah, I mean, I could see your point. I'm just
saying I don't think it was your typical roll up.
