Speaker 1 (00:05):
It's Wednesday. You know what that means. It's time for
all the talk with the aw Fan podcast team. We
just saw a w dynamite beach break from the tropical
paradise of Chicago, Illinois, where the windburn only supersedes the sunburn.
Let's talk about AEW dynamite. It started out hot and
(00:29):
ended even hotter. This was actually a pretty good show
in my opinion. Let's talk about it. Will Ospray, Hangman
Adam Page against Kenoskate Takeshta and Josh Alexander. Guys, what
did you think about this match? Was a hit or
miss for you?
Speaker 2 (00:46):
Liked it? Thought it was a good match.
Speaker 1 (00:50):
Do you think it served a purpose? I mean, a's
obviously what they were trying to do. Try to build
up some kind of tension, I guess is the best
way to put it between Osprey and Hangman. Did you
guys feel like they nailed it on the head there?
Speaker 2 (01:02):
You really had to put too much to build into that?
I mean, yeah, it did it? Did it? I think
it made it a little more fun?
Speaker 1 (01:10):
Yeah, I mean, Hangman's middle name is tension bred. You
haven't been with this for a while. I mean, what
did you think of this match.
Speaker 3 (01:18):
As a match, I really enjoyed it. You look at
the talent involved and it was as expected to catch
the Alexander Ospra Hangman are all super talented. As a story,
it was okay, and I guess everyone got a paycheck.
You got a little bit more tension leading into this
match at double or nothing because they've only really had
(01:39):
you know, I guess including next week, it'll be three
weeks to tell this story so to speak, you know,
I mean they just finished the finale a few weeks ago,
or the semi finals a few weeks ago. So really
enjoyed it.
Speaker 1 (01:53):
Yeah, you know. And then after this match, pretty soon
after this match, FIGHTFULT released a report and uh, it's
actually great news. Willow Nightingale has re signed a new
multi year deal with All Elite Wrestling. Congrats to to
Willow and hooray for us. I think we can all
(02:13):
agree that Willow is a benefit to a w and
the fans lover. Let's let's face it, so great news there.
Speaker 3 (02:26):
This is is big. I mean, will Nightingale's one of
the I don't want to I don't want to use
the word pillar exactly, but a big part of the
swimen's division.
Speaker 1 (02:35):
I wouldn't use yeah, I wouldn't use pillar up, but
I'd say a cornerstone, especially of the women's division.
Speaker 3 (02:41):
Absolutely, cornerstones are great. Yeah, she's huge to this division
and former TBS champion, has represented CMLL as their champion
on TV before and do Japan, you know, strong Champions,
strong champion absolutely, so.
Speaker 1 (02:58):
Let's face it. Yeah, absolutely, she never disappoints. You know,
she did have a period I think last year where
she got gassed really soon, really early in matches, but
she turned it around. She's obviously putting in the work,
you know. So look, it's great that what we had next.
(03:18):
We had a steel cage big yet for the main event,
but then we had top Light backstage with Dustin Rhodes
and Sammy Guevara coming and well Dustin said, you know,
congratulations whatever, leading into the upcoming Hurt Syndicate segment. But
before we got to that, boy, we had Ricochet and
(03:41):
Zach Gowan and I thought, this was actually a pretty
darn good match. What did you guys think of this?
Speaker 2 (03:51):
It's an all right match. I wasn't then impressed because
it wasn't really you know, like we said last night,
shouldn't this match. I mean, I get why they did it,
but it shouldn't have been like that. Ricochet took the
loss just because.
Speaker 1 (04:09):
Well, Ricochet didn't take the loss.
Speaker 2 (04:12):
No, he didn't, so just because.
Speaker 1 (04:16):
But look, I mean, if God Zach Gollan a paycheck,
he deserves, you know, all the accolades that he's gotten.
And look, if you're going to try to get some
cheap heat, what a better way that to have, you know,
your heel go against a one leged man and try
to humiliate him. But it didn't work. You know, I
(04:40):
think that even though Ricochet won this match and he
did get some cheap heat, I really do believe that
maybe Zach Gowan came out looking a lot better than
anything in this match. Right in just one second, one
(05:01):
in our chat just said he loved aw tonight, and
you know I got to agree with him. Go ahead, Red,
I'm sorry for interrupting.
Speaker 3 (05:08):
Oh no, you know the expression of one legged man
in an ask kicking contest. Yeah, just help like that.
But at the same time, you have to credit Ricochet
his ability to work as a heel. He's really has
become one of the best heels in the ring in
the World. His ability to show emotion vulnerability showed that
(05:33):
he has weaknesses, and he was afraid to lose this match,
like very visibly afraid to lose this match. He didn't
want Zach Allen to get the upper hand on him.
It just amazes me. I know, like you said, I
haven't been on the show in a while, so I
haven't been able to talk about Ricochet. I'm blown away
by how well he's developed as a heel over the
(05:55):
last or five months.
Speaker 1 (05:57):
Right, Yeah, I agree, because I don't know if you
paid attention to, you know, the WWE subreddits and social media,
but the general consensus about Ricochet is that he can work,
but he sucked on the MIC. I think he's doing
really good and he's definitely getting the heat with the
(06:17):
things that he says. He's an expert at body language,
he's an expert at just working the crowd with his gestures.
What else could you I mean, seriously, what else could
you have to ask of Ricochet?
Speaker 2 (06:30):
At this point, I got to disagree with that assessment
of ricochet mic work. Because he was in WWE, he
had no control over what he did, what he was told,
what he could say. So to say that he was
not good on the mic before he came here. That's crap,
because you know, ww's famous for right and everybody's working.
There are plenty of people that have worked in WWE
(06:50):
that were bad on the mic to come over to
AW or somewhere else and are amazing because they don't
give them that opportunity.
Speaker 1 (06:58):
Yeah, but you know, to your point, I agree with you, Sutton.
But to your point, everybody in WWE has got scripts.
So Ricochet was no different from anybody else. But according
to what the fans are saying, Ricochet didn't handle it well.
But now that he's got like I guess what you
could call free reign to say what's on his mind
and just followed the story instead of a script, he's
(07:21):
doing exceptionally well. I mean I don't get what the
problem was.
Speaker 2 (07:28):
Well then that's you know, that's that's just it. The
scripts are written and being controlled like that, you're stuck
with whatever they tell you to say. So if they
if they write you a bad script, you're going to
come across as a bad person on the mic.
Speaker 1 (07:43):
Now what is your opinion on that? Red?
Speaker 3 (07:47):
I can't see him at a house show when he
was with WWE, against carrying cross and he looks every
bit as athletic in person, if not more than he
does on TV. But to both your points, he didn't
have a lot of life on the microphone, and I
(08:08):
don't know how much of that was that he was
in a box. The babyface, I think, I think, honestly
this is this might seem a little off kilter, but
it is from the South and developed a way of
talking that, at least in the WWE, that was nothing
like how he really talks in real life. Got an accent,
he has an inner about him, a way of speaking
(08:29):
that is showing through an aw like sounds like himself.
He sounds like he does in an interview. It's not polished,
not clean cut. It's just how he talks and he's
excelling at it. And I think also coring heel has
helped him because he probably does have a lot of
frustration for the last five or six years that he's
built up for having to act a certain way that
(08:50):
it's not natural to him.
Speaker 1 (08:55):
Yeah. Right, and uh And as once said that, I
think he summed up he said pretty well. He said
in our chat, he said key meaning Ricochet does not
suck in aw I agree, plain and simple. And then
we move on to something we talked at length about
(09:16):
last night is we had the Hurt Syndicate come out
and have a match against Top Flight, and prior to
that we had had During that we had the crew
come out, Leu Rush and Action Andretti, Dustin Rhoades, Sami Grivara,
which now you're gonna have Crewe and the Sons of
Texas at a number one contender eliminator match at Collision
(09:40):
this week. But look, I think this match was secondary.
I don't know about you guys. I mean, we were
all waiting for MJF to come out and see what
the decision was from the Hurt Syndicate on whether or
not they're going to let him into their group. Was
anybody surprised by what happened? And how did you think
(10:01):
they pulled this off?
Speaker 2 (10:03):
I thought it was hilarious. I loved it. I was
laughing the whole time because you can just tell that
there's something not quite done yet. At least to me,
it seems like there's a there's a might be a
little bit of surprise next week for NJF for the
for the signing, and I don't know what is mgf's
problem hiring Mark as his lawyer? Really?
Speaker 1 (10:28):
Wow, that's kind of marks. Mark Sterling's thing is, uh, well,
he's smart, he's a lawyer.
Speaker 2 (10:36):
Yeah, okay, yeah, that's I'm sorry, that's just I don't know.
It just was I was. I thought it was pretty
well done. I loved it. I think it's going to
be a lot of fun. And next week we'll definitely
have something up. I think they got something up their sleeves.
Speaker 1 (10:49):
Yeah. So the question is, and I'm going to pose
the same question to Red after you answer it, do
you think that m JF is going to have a
happy he existed past this week with Third Syndicate.
Speaker 2 (11:06):
I honestly, I still think that something is going to
happen at double or nothing. I think you were right.
I think it's gonna have to do with Cedric Alexander.
I don't think it's gonna be you know, we were
talking about it the other day and you said that
he thought it was gonna be they were gonna have
to face each other. I think it's gonna be something
along those lines. But it's gonna be those two against
each other, and it's just gonna be another one of
(11:28):
those things. That Bobby. Bobby was loving it. He was
laughing his ass off tonight. So it depends on what
happens next week.
Speaker 1 (11:36):
I did. I'm glad you said that because you could
tell Bobby Lasley's at the time of his life with
this thing. He was as smile in his assh off.
He really was rad. What do you think about this
whole thing?
Speaker 3 (11:50):
I really don't know what to expect at this point.
This is a great day and switch tonight, and I'm
just trying to keep an open mind because I don't
want to. I don't want to have any expectations. I
want to go in this with an open mind and
accept what happens, because I've really enjoyed this story so far.
All these segments have been fantastic. This one included him
(12:11):
holding MJF and Shelton Densman's I M up for that
thrust kick and he's in the thumbs up. Enjoyed this
a lot. I hope JF joins, I mean personally, but
I if he doesn't, and they build towards the match
a double or nothing, which that you know, really after
(12:32):
next week it's just collision and then double or nothing.
So I don't know. I don't know what will happen there,
but if he does join them, they become you know,
kind of four Horsemen quasi group. I mean that's a supergroup,
a veritable supergroup in AW and someone who, yeah, post
death Riders can dominate as heels and occupy that space.
Speaker 1 (12:58):
Yeah. You know the only thing that kind of put
me off about this entire segment. It wasn't like it
would ruined the segment. It was just a little bit
odd as MGF kind of hiding you know after you know,
it was like Tony Kahan even on Twitter made a
comment saying saying something like I was just keeping him
ready for when you needed him. You know what are
friends for? You know kind of thing, and Tony Khan
(13:21):
being talking, and Tony Khan was very active on Twitter tonight,
especially when it came to this next match, which was
the women's four way eliminator match. I've never seen Tony
Khan pivot like this before, Sutton. You've always said that
(13:42):
Tony Khan as stubborn as can be. But if you were,
if you were paying attention tonight, Mina sheer Kawa made
her a w debut and I I was looking just
before the podcast tonight and she's still not got the
graphic and she's still not on the roster page. Hopefully
by the end of the show tonight, maybe she will
(14:04):
be on the roster page. But the thing that some
fans got really upset because Mida Shrek came shere Kawa
came out to a totally different music. Did you catch that?
Speaker 2 (14:19):
Yep? Yeah, And I think that was a mistake.
Speaker 1 (14:24):
And well, let me get into it, because there was
a lot of comments on social media about Mina shir
Kawa's music, and Tony Kahan pivoted right away and changed
it back, and people asked him. He was like, people
were saying, you know, like Tony, you know, we're we
want we're trying to get into the vibe here with
(14:45):
Mina shark Kaala, but her music is setting us off.
You need to change it back. Twenty con responded, I
already did, and somebody else posted, did you change it
back because of all the uh, the comments that you
were getting on social media about her music kind of
killing the vibe? Mean he said. Tony conn said, yeah,
So hey, look, man of the people, you got to
(15:06):
get the fans what they want. Sometimes you got to
play pay fan service sometimes and you know, I didn't
want to spend you know, too much time on the
me to share a color music thing. But it looks
like me to share coll is going to be getting
her own music back, old music back, which is nice
to hear.
Speaker 2 (15:19):
Well, what if she's the one that wanted the new music.
I mean, I get it, fans, you gotta pay lip
service to the fans, but you also have to give
it a damn chance. It's the first time she used it,
So to make that kind of a judgment that quickly,
I think it was wrong. I think they should have
left the leont let the music be what it was.
Speaker 1 (15:38):
Yeah. Well look, I mean I don't know if REHD
if you agree with this, But when you've got somebody
that has used the same music their entire career and
they have been identified by that music to a point.
For example, the entrance music of Adam Copeland, I mean
(15:59):
if he came out to it totally different music, it
would be different. You know, it'd be uncomfortable, it'd be
you know, you're wondering, what's going on kind of thing.
So Copeland himself benefited from having his music, and I
think it may be to the same point with mit
to Shirkyle, what do you think? What do you think
(16:19):
about that? Red? Is the music? Identifiable? Music? Is that
important to wrestlers?
Speaker 3 (16:27):
It certainly is. I mean, not to be a smart ass,
but to be fair, Adam Copeland did during his the
end of his WW tenure. He did eventually change his
theme to a different altered Bridge song when he created
the Judgment Day, and it took time, but it did
get over eventually. I understand Sutton's point about you have
(16:47):
to give things time. But sure, at the same token,
if you're bringing someone in from stardom who Grayton has
been in aw before obviously, but you know it's coming
from stardom, you don't want it. I wouldn't want to
change her image immediately, you know. I mean, I think
you have to give things like that time. So I
understand your point. And she was announced for this show,
(17:07):
so people expecting her to be there, They were expecting
to hear her music. So yeah, if they had, if
they had she came in blind and she wasn't announced prior,
I guess I could understand it. Maybe, but wasn't I
think was that? I think it would have It wouldn't.
Speaker 1 (17:23):
Have mattered but yeah, yeah, you know what. You know,
the theme wasn't bad, but her her theme is look stardom.
Themes are really identifiable. I mean, the wrestlers do not
change their theme is hardly at all in startup unless
they have like a complete character change from like babyface
(17:45):
to a supreme heel, which does not happen that often
and start them. But uh, yeah, I mean the new
theme wasn't bad, but it wasn't mean to shryk cow
to me. Yeah. I agree with with Sutton and his
assessment saying that, Yeah, I mean, if you gave it
a chance, gave it a few weeks, maybe it would
(18:07):
grow on you. But you've already got the perfect theme
for me to share a Kawa. That's Meana's theme.
Speaker 2 (18:13):
But like I said, you know, saying that maybe it
was her choice to change it because she developed a
dance board. I mean, that's not just something that was
thrust on her tonight. She's had nobody point.
Speaker 3 (18:26):
She had a choreographed dance to go with.
Speaker 2 (18:29):
Yeah, and it just makes no sense for him to
change it back because people didn't like it. And if
she had saying it, then you know that's what she wanted.
She's no longer part of stardom.
Speaker 1 (18:42):
It'll be interesting to see if she comes out and
says anything about you know, maybe she'll come out and say,
I want that new theme back. I worked hard on it.
Or maybe it was just like, thank god, I got
my real theme back and not that bump that they
should know set me out there with and it was
just so uncomfortable. You never know. So well, let's talk
about the match itself, because of course we had to
(19:04):
return to Skyblue in her hometown of Chicago, Illinois, and
then we had Tony Storm and we had a had
a Zumi the new n j p W Strong Women's Champion.
I thought this match was really good. I thought it
was well done.
Speaker 2 (19:18):
It We were nowhere near thought what happened? What was
gonna happen last night? You know what I mean. We
thought it was gonna find any way different than it did.
Speaker 1 (19:28):
Yeah, we thought, like what I was saying, it was
gonna be chaos, you know, and it really wasn't. It
was pretty much of a straight up match. I mean,
there were a couple of things that happened well after
the match ended that did not have any bearing on
the match results whatsoever, which you know, I thought was
a good call. But because we got to see Mercedes Monette,
(19:51):
we got to see Jmi Hayter, Uh, Mercedes Monet attack Azumi.
You know, we had Mina sher Kawa get to pin
and earning a title shot, a double or nothing. Of course,
I don't expect Mina to win this title shot, but
something kind of tells me that she may not lose
(20:11):
this title shot either. I mean, this may be this
may be where the chaos hits. I don't know how
to put it.
Speaker 2 (20:21):
Yeah, I kind of agree. I kind of think that,
you know, like I said, they she was kind of
funny with her and Mina when they first faced each
other in the ring. You almost saw that they were
one to do the whole Oh God, and Hug didn't
end up happening. But I still think Mariah is going
to show up at the pay per view.
Speaker 1 (20:41):
Yeah, you know, prob of being kind of felt like
Mariah may show up tonight, but I was kind of
glad she didn't because it would have taken away from
Mercedes and Jamie. What did you think, big Red?
Speaker 3 (20:56):
What does Mina shear kaw? This is her third shot
at the aw Women's World Championship and I understand that
she is she you know, has star power and enjoy
seeing her wrestle. I don't know, A part of me
feels like sky Blue needed this. She needed not obviously
(21:20):
not to win, but it shot just a chance to
appear to pay per view and buy for the title.
In terms of the match itself, this was really fun.
This is a really fun four way match. The ending,
like you guys said, was it definitely shocked me about that.
Speaker 1 (21:39):
Yeah, I mean, I don't know about you guys. Well,
d you kind of alluded to this where you thought
the baby Sheikala and Tony Storberg got a hug, but
Tony Storm had had an amused look on her face
instead of an upset look on her face after after
being a sheer kylea pinder, which I thought was pointed.
Speaker 3 (22:00):
Yeah, I'm sure she's happy to be in a ring
with a former friend or a friend someone who she
knows isn't going to do anything nefarious.
Speaker 1 (22:10):
Yep, yeah, I think that was. I don't know because
me to shear, Kawa and Marian may have been both posting,
you know, over the last couple of weeks on on
social media saying together forever and stuff like that. So
something tells me something's gonna happen here. I don't know. Well,
(22:37):
let's move on. I did want to bring We talked
about this a little bit briefly last night. We lost
Sabou over the weekend and AW did a little tribute
to him with Taz speaking now when about Sabu passed
on Sunday, Taz did post a video on his personal
(22:58):
social media accounts where you talked about Saboo. But tonight
was uh, that was pretty raw and it was pretty special,
and I really, I really really think that that was
a great tribute to Sabo. Yeah, I agree, Yeah, it
(23:19):
was beautiful.
Speaker 3 (23:19):
Yeah, it was great.
Speaker 1 (23:21):
Yeah. I mean, you know, Taz, if you didn't see
the video on Sunday, just go look up Taz on
Twitter or whatnot. He talks about, you know, him being
Sabo was an established wrestler and Taz was only meant
to go in there and pretty much job to Saboo.
(23:42):
And Taz went on and on about Saboo doing everything
he could to put Taz over during their matches, because
they had a series of matches, you know, in different
areas and whatnot where it was just Taz and Sabo
and he Taz explicitly he said, Sabu did not need
to do what he did, but he did everything he
(24:04):
could to make Taz look like a threat and not
just like a jobber. And you could tell in that
video that it meant a lot to him, and Taz
just had nothing but great things to say about Sabu.
And then tonight with that tribute that Taz did, which
I thought was perfect, and Taz tried not. You know,
(24:26):
Taz is seen is like this ultimate tough guy and
seeing him struggling to hold it together that kind of
shows that he's heartbroken over the loss of his friend,
you know. And I just thought it was a great tribute, simple,
you know, and effective. I had not seen a tribute
(24:47):
like that done by a commentator in aw since since
the death of Hanna Kamura when when Excalibur got on
the mic, and I believe it was a double or
nothing in twenty twenty, I believe it was. I'm pretty
sure it was. And you know, ex calberd just got
(25:08):
out of the mic and said how senseless her death
was and didn't need to happen, which it didn't. She
was she committed suicide, you know, after being bullied by
the internet, and Taz, you know, clearly was even though
he wasn't on screen when he was talking, he was
(25:30):
clearly choked up. And he said something that I think
that everybody on the internet should should hold the heart
and he just said, just be nice to one another.
And you know it is true. You know what you
get on, especially on the wrestling forms and whatnot, people
say stuff just to maybe get attention or whatever. Sometimes
(25:55):
it's not really necessary to say what's said. You know,
just be nice to one and let's have fun. Wrestling
is supposed to be fun, So that's that's all I
got to say. Next, we had a really interesting segment
with Nigel getting in the ring with Tony Shabbani. I
(26:17):
where was Tony all night? Was this tape like after
Collision last week? I don't know what was going on here,
but we had Nigel get in the ring and Daniel
Garcia get in the ring, and din Aw's version of
Kevin Hart Snokely Hathaway got into the ring and FTR
Daddy Magic. What did you guys think of this segment?
Speaker 2 (26:39):
I think they did. Niger is doing a pretty bad
job of covering up that he wants to wrestle again.
He just I mean, you can tell he wants to wrestle,
and it seems like he's fighting saying you know, not saying, Hey,
I want to wrestle, and it's just kind of came
across as just odd. But I guess that's Nigel.
Speaker 1 (27:02):
Yeah, what did you think about this? Red?
Speaker 3 (27:08):
I'm always excited to see Agel McGinnis in the ring
because the opportunities are finite, and when I was a kid,
I was a big fan of his. I find it interesting,
you know, he definitely it seems like he's hand picking
the people he wants to work with, and in this
case it's he wants to work with Daniel Garcia. You know,
in the past he's worked with Lee Moriarty and those
(27:31):
guys have a connection, you know, of young and their
technical wrestlers, and I think both of those guys would
have fit into Ring of Honor in the mid two
thousands really well. But I see what I can see
the what's going on there. I don't know if I
want to see Nagel McGinnis and Daniel Garcia a double
(27:52):
or nothing against FTR, but a bad match that's where
this is going.
Speaker 1 (27:58):
Anyways. Yeah, one in our chat said that he thought
that Garcia was going to call out Nigel there for
a second, I kind of felt the same way. I
don't know if it was intentional or not, but there
looked to be some tension, I guess between Nigel and Garcia,
especially on Garcia's part. But I'm interested. Is this gonna
(28:24):
be Nigel and Garcia against FTR a double or nothing?
Or are we going to add Stokely Hathaway and Daddy
Magic to this match as well?
Speaker 2 (28:34):
That would be funny. I want to see Daddy Magic
and Stokely going at it, throwing punches in the middle
of the ring. That's that would make my night.
Speaker 1 (28:46):
Well, you know another thing that they can do is
have Daniel Garcia and you know and Nigel against FTR
and then on zero hour have Stokely and Daddy Magic
go at it true, you know, Yeah, then you would
get your wish. Hello, put them in still cage? Why not?
Speaker 2 (29:04):
No, no, no, it's just death match, uh Bob war ring roops.
But yeah, I mean it's gonna be a double or nothing,
and thankfully that's our fifth match for double or nothing.
Nothing like getting the paper you filled out eleven days beforehand.
Speaker 1 (29:22):
Yeah, well, let's talk about the final match of the night,
the main events, Samoa Joe and John Moxley. Look, uh,
we're pretty much decided last night. There was no way
that Samoa Joe was gonna win this. But as Barry
has been predicting for gosh the last three weeks, his
(29:44):
prediction came true. Anarchy in the arena at double or nothing.
This that's gonna be fun. I'm sorry, that's gonna be fun.
Speaker 2 (29:55):
Yeah, it'll be a good match.
Speaker 1 (29:58):
Yeah, it'll be a fun match. I loved that that.
Uh who wasn't I think it was Matthew, could have
been Nicholas. I still can't tell those suckers apart had
the had the remote control that that controlled the the cage.
(30:19):
They got scared every I mean, their whole team was
standing and when Storris Strickland went into the into the ring,
they bolted. I was like, okay, you know they had
they had swere basically down five on one in a
steel cage and they bolted, which didn't make a whole
heck of a lot of sense to me.
Speaker 3 (30:41):
Everyone converge at the corner of the ring so he
can do a stomple in them. Why wouldn't they just
back away?
Speaker 2 (30:49):
It wouldn't be wrestling if they didn't do that.
Speaker 1 (30:52):
If if it was somebody, if it was the opposite
and like Wheeler Yuda had climbed the top of the
State Top, Samoa Joe would have just noped him.
Speaker 3 (31:08):
Yeah, you know, yeah, looking so coerced, right, I mean yeah.
Speaker 2 (31:17):
I mean think about it. How many times you see
somebody jump out of the ring and they're all standing
there waiting to catch him. I mean it's it's a
spot that looks good, and that's why they do it.
Speaker 1 (31:28):
Yeah, Well, it's it gets a crowd pop. There's several
things that happened in the arena that look that get
a pop in the arena and kind of leave, you know,
as Red says, it kind of makes it makes you
shake your head when you're watching from home. You know,
why are these guys is standing around waiting for this
guy to jump? What are the other things that gets me?
When somebody is whipped into the ropes and they come
(31:49):
off the rope and the opponent that whipped them into
the ropes swings at their head. But he swings you know,
the guy's six foot four, he's in a swing seven,
but nine, you know, the guy doesn't need that. There
was like, why are you swinging so high? And they
do it all the time, you know, I'm like, just
don't do that spot anywhere. Look stupid. Look there are
(32:11):
a lot of spots in wrestling that look stupid. There
really are. And there's some finish you're looking. There's some finishes,
but if you're not done right, like the gts. You know,
if you don't hit the GTS right, it just looks dumb.
Speaker 2 (32:28):
For the switch.
Speaker 1 (32:30):
Uh huh. Somebody posted a video of Chris Statlander giving
Julia Hart not one, but two pile drivers and oh
god this it was ages ago, but they she gave
her too. It was last year sometime, but she gave
(32:51):
her two pile drivers. And Julia Hart's head never came
within two feet of the of the of the mat.
It just looks so bad. I mean, Julia Hart's head
was firmly in Christatlander's thighs. Kudos to stat Lander for
protecting Julia Hart. But when you're doing a spot like
(33:12):
that and you do it twice and it looks that
bad twice, you just shouldn't do it anymore, you know.
And I'm wondering. I'm not putting the fault. I'm not
putting the fault on either Julia Hart or Chris Statlander,
because Julia Hart sold the hell out of it. Her
arms are dangling like crazy and whatever. But but it's
(33:34):
like a production problem because let's face it, that's the
kind of move that you have to do save and
you just change the camera angles. You don't show it
head on close up where it's like, well, Julia's heart,
Julia Hart's had never even came close to the bat,
you know. So I don't know why she's her arms
are dangling and she's acting unconscious because you or I
(33:55):
could have taken that bump. And believe me, I don't know.
I have to No, I have no doubt that Chris
Stadler Statlander could give you that bumps you don't, cause
she looks strong as hell. But I'm just saying, there
are different things in wrestling that just don't look good.
Speaker 2 (34:10):
Well, that's the speaking don't look good. I think the
Castagnoli when he was trying to climb the thing came
down on Willow and yeah, that didn't look like that
was supposed to happen.
Speaker 1 (34:23):
I agree, I don't know about you guys. But I
would think that maybe will I was supposed to get
a bit to some kind of like a diving cutter
kind of move, you know, like a cutter when he
came off the off the cage, But I don't think
she was expecting get so she just kind of got
wiped out, you know.
Speaker 2 (34:37):
Yeah, I'm not sure if she was supposed to be
part of that. But when it ended up being the
three of them that looked bad, I'm glad they didn't
stay on that and went to and what and had
Hobbs put you to the table. But that didn't look
good at all.
Speaker 3 (34:53):
Yeah, cages looked loose, Like I know, Moxley, I mean,
Simojo hit mox in the face, bounced off the cage
in the doors, went like a foot away. It's likes
to be looking the right.
Speaker 1 (35:08):
He actually, yeah, that's a that's a good point. Yeah,
the cage did look loose. I missed part of this
match because I had to take my dogs out, but
I did catch most of it. Uh, it was a
good match. I think it went exactly the way we
expected it, you know, expected it to and I thought
it was did a really good job of setting up
(35:29):
antically in the arena.
Speaker 3 (35:32):
Gabe Kid. Element of this.
Speaker 2 (35:36):
Was expected.
Speaker 3 (35:38):
It was way out of left field, right.
Speaker 2 (35:41):
Is it Kid free agent?
Speaker 1 (35:45):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (35:46):
I think I think he I think he's contract ran out,
and I don't think he's working for New Japan anymore.
Speaker 1 (35:52):
I think he's more. Yeah. Well, I want to ask
you something because when Gabe Kid did come out, of
course he had the black hoodie on, and uh, he
was in the far left corner when he came in.
Of course there was a steel cage. He had the
(36:14):
the briefcase in his hand, and for a fleeting second,
I thought it was Brian Danielson. Did anybody else think yep?
Speaker 2 (36:22):
I was sitting there going, what the hell is Danielson
doing helping? Until they said it was Gabe Kid. I
thought it was Danielson. I was sitting there going, Okay,
this don't make any sense.
Speaker 1 (36:34):
Yeah, I think they should have zumed it because I,
honest to god, I thought he was Brian Danielson when
I first saw him. Well, that'd be interesting to see
if Gabe Kidd, you know, it comes a fixture with
the death writers. I mean one in the chat said
two things. He said that Kid makes the death writers
(36:57):
better and and one also said that he thought it
was dead too, So I'm not crazy. Well I am crazy,
but I'm not crazy about this.
Speaker 2 (37:07):
So it's kind of riders off it all in.
Speaker 1 (37:13):
I'm curious, right.
Speaker 2 (37:14):
Did you get Vie?
Speaker 3 (37:16):
No, I don't give his ugly ass. Do you guys
think he's joining the Death Riders or he was sent
there by the elite?
Speaker 2 (37:29):
I think he was sent there by the elite, right, Yeah,
I think that was the whole purpose of when they
came out and he offered whichever one of the twins
offered their hand to shake with Marks. I think that
was the deal that they showed last week when we
were talking about how they met after the segment, and yeah,
I think that's what is all set up like that. Yeah,
(37:53):
the obvious part of that whole thing. Now, the part,
the funniest part I thought that was after that was
when speedball.
Speaker 1 (38:03):
Let's be ball, what you're leaving us in suspense? Well,
something just lost his his mic. I guess I'm not
the only one that can't hear. I'm not the only
one who can't hear something at all.
Speaker 3 (38:21):
Right, Yeah, I can't hear either.
Speaker 1 (38:23):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (38:24):
Well, yes, he was going to say, the Speedball kicked
Ocada out of the ring entrance.
Speaker 2 (38:29):
Right because my kids when my baby cat turned off
my damn power bar on my WiFi.
Speaker 3 (38:39):
Oh yeah, so Scary also a member of the Bullet Club.
Speaker 1 (38:45):
War Dogs wrecked Jack Perry.
Speaker 3 (38:50):
He's a He's a member of the war Dogs, isn't he?
Speaker 1 (38:53):
If he is a full member that I can't really say.
Speaker 3 (38:58):
Yeah, I haven't watched you. I mean, I know he isn't.
Speaker 1 (39:00):
I think it's safer to say associated at one time. Yes,
a member. Now that's kind of like calling Gave Kid
a member of the Death Writers.
Speaker 3 (39:14):
My question is do you think Gabe Kid and Jack
Perry both I mean, how do I say this? I
wonder if Gave Kids joining the Elite not the Death Riders.
Speaker 1 (39:28):
I think the bigger question is is is Gabe Kid
coming to a W at all? You know, I personally
do not feel like Gabe Kid is coming to AW.
Even the announcers tonight saying that, you know, Gabe Kid
is from New Japan Pro Wrestling. I think that he's
just one of those guys it's going to be coming
over to the United States to wrestle in a W
(39:50):
and GCW and defied getting just kicking people's asses and
then going back to to Japan and doing what he does.
I don't I don't see really Gabe Kid being signed
by AW. Do I hope I'm wrong, yes, because I
think Gape Kid will be an excellent addition to a
w uh. But we'll see kid. I think Gabe Kid
(40:14):
kind of has to prove himself because he can be
quite the foul mouth human being, you know. And yeah,
AW reportedly already signed Ducla. If anybody knows anything about Dukla,
that woman's got a mouth on herd and to make
John Moxley blush.
Speaker 2 (40:31):
So my son told me that Gabe Kid is.
Speaker 3 (40:38):
Yeah new Japanic.
Speaker 2 (40:41):
So and.
Speaker 3 (40:44):
In service and Forbidden Door down the road.
Speaker 2 (40:47):
Yeah that's what I was thinking that would be a
big part of.
Speaker 1 (40:49):
But yeah, I just.
Speaker 3 (40:54):
I wonder how how often he's going to be in
a w beyond anarchy in the arena.
Speaker 2 (41:00):
I'm figuring it. I'm gonna have can Omega? Can you
Omega versus Gay Kid at the Forbidden Door.
Speaker 1 (41:11):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (41:12):
I wonder if Jack Perry was supposed to be involved
in this and he didn't want to come back in
time or you obviously injuries have played a big part
in all of this. Concussion. Is Perry actually hurt and
whatever he did to his ankle draw all that played
into this in some way, shape or form.
Speaker 2 (41:33):
Yeah, I don't know. I think that if Perry's hurt,
then that I don't know why he was out. I mean,
he's been gone for so long.
Speaker 1 (41:41):
I did read a story earlier this week where the
original plan was from Jack Perry to have a program
with somebody and I can't remember who it was, but
it didn't pan out. I didn't They did not say
anything about Perry being hurt. The only a W big
name that I can think of that's you know, some
(42:03):
people don't realize that he's hurt. Right now is Orange
Cassidy as a torn peck? So no, and I don't
know you know how long Casside's going to be out,
But that's what I that's what I've read. Jungle Boy
come back, well maybe a double or nothing. You see
(42:28):
the uh Jurassic Express come out and uh challenge to
hurt hey if you're gonna have it all in Match
forty a W Tag Team Championship, I wouldn't mind seeing
to hurt Syndicate against Jungle Express.
Speaker 2 (42:45):
Definitely don't make it versus I'd like.
Speaker 1 (42:47):
To see Express. Yeah, one of them was injured, though
I can't remember which one, Mark Davids whatever one of them.
So yeah. So look, I mean I thought tonight did
a really good job because we've been complaining on this
(43:09):
podcast that up until tonight there was literally only two
matches for sure for double or nothing. Well now we've
got like five with like with like a sixth and
the seventh pretty much locked. You know, I think you're
going to see, well the FTR and Nigel McGinnis and
Daniel Garcia match. I kind of would like to see
(43:32):
that Stokely against Daddy Magic match in the you know
in uh first one who has hard nipples loses kind
of match. Uh, I don't know, it has to be
a stupid gimmick.
Speaker 3 (43:50):
The two own Hard Cup finale matches. We have Storm
versus Me to Share Cobo Hurts Syndey Kid versus Top Flight.
Speaker 1 (43:59):
No Hurt Hurt Syndicate is against the winner of the
crew in sunn.
Speaker 3 (44:05):
Texas pardon me, Sons of Texas, or.
Speaker 1 (44:10):
I really do believe that it's going to be m
j F versus either Bobby Blashley or Cedric Alexander at
Double or Nothing.
Speaker 3 (44:20):
Do you think Cedric's going to join a W.
Speaker 1 (44:23):
Well, we talked about it last night and we're kind
of torn on this. I mean, Cedric is, uh, he's
got history with the Hurt Syndicate, and you know, I
can't think of a better way if they were going
to bring Cedric Alexander into a W, a better way
of doing so, because reportedly as of tonight he is
(44:46):
he has now uh set out his entire Don compete.
He could have signed and been there tonight, but that
would have been kind of rushing it, you know as
far as story, because you can't talk to him before
is Don Compizzo. So they would have to sign him
this afternoon and get him out there and get the
story done. So now they got a week. But yeah,
(45:09):
so I kind of do think that it's I personally
think it next week at the contract signing, they're setting
up MJF to get the you know, crap kicked out
of him by the Hurt Syndicate with Cedric Alexander, you know,
And I think that you I think it's a strong
possibility that a Double or Nothing we're going to see
(45:31):
Cedric Alexander and MGF having to go at it. You know,
maybe with a stipulation, as I said before on the podcast,
that the winner of that match gets in the hurt syndicate.
And there's no way that MJF is going to get
it in the hurt syndicate over over Cedric Alexander. So
I kind of know others that disagree would be that's
(45:52):
just my take on it.
Speaker 3 (45:55):
I just know he's married to big Swool, and big
Swoll was not exactly time to Tony Kahan when she
was released. Yeah, yeah, Now I don't I don't know that's.
Speaker 2 (46:08):
She ain't really changed her attitude about.
Speaker 3 (46:10):
It in a sense that Tony Kahan does in fact
old grudges, which is there's nothing wrong with that. If
he does, you know, he's a.
Speaker 1 (46:16):
You gotta stand You got to stand up for yourself too.
You can't let people love.
Speaker 3 (46:21):
Yeah. Yeah, I'm not saying there's anything wrong with that
if that's the case, But you know, I wonder how
much of that is real.
Speaker 1 (46:27):
Uh Anyways, Yeah, I mean, look, I mean, we we've
got the as you said, we've got the owen Hart thing.
I really do think that we've got I really do
think that MGF and Centric Alexander is going to happen
at at double or nothing. I really do. Uh of course,
(46:48):
uh maybe we get Speedball Mike Bailey and and uh
at Okada, you know.
Speaker 3 (46:55):
I mean the Golet match.
Speaker 1 (46:59):
I do not think we're gonna get it this Casino
Gotlin match. And the reason why I don't think we're
gonna get a Casino Gotlin match is because it would
take away from Anna Feeding Arena.
Speaker 2 (47:10):
Yeah, I kind of agree with that, but I just
I just don't understand how you only have half your
card filled.
Speaker 3 (47:17):
I'm excited and I think this, I mean, at least
for the own Hard Cup finales. I think they're I
think both those matches are going to be great. I
think anarchy is always fun.
Speaker 2 (47:26):
Excited for that, But you leave out I mean, you've
got the women's title match, and that's it said so far.
I mean we were we were assuming they're gonna have
the FTR Garcia and Nigel match, which is another one,
so that gives you six. But Tony always seems to have.
Speaker 3 (47:44):
Versus Tony Storm too, because I guess this is their
second title match. Now, I'm sure that's gonna be great
as well, I just.
Speaker 2 (47:51):
Don't see how you have five matches pending and you
only have a week, and by the time you set
those matches, you're only gonna have eight days. I just
don't under understand why they're doing this the way they're
doing it. It makes absolutely no sense to wait that
long to have your matches set up.
Speaker 1 (48:08):
Well, see what, we'll see what happens. I mean collision.
We may have two or three more matches made a collision.
Speaker 2 (48:15):
Yeah, but that's only eight days away.
Speaker 3 (48:17):
I know a lot of the matches were announced for
Collision U this Saturday.
Speaker 2 (48:22):
That was kind of odd. They hardly ever say anything
about collision matches.
Speaker 3 (48:25):
Actually fast forwarded through those matches ever announced.
Speaker 2 (48:28):
But it's the detective versus the they're going to have
a Chicago street fight with Big Bill in bad Apple
versus the I can't think of their name, Well, yeah,
I can't remember their name as a group.
Speaker 1 (48:47):
Because what their names are?
Speaker 3 (48:50):
You know, it doesn't doesn't.
Speaker 1 (48:54):
Yeah, I don't say. I don't say what you can't
remember anybody's names. I don't want to hear you go
they got hurt this this one against that one. You know,
people don't understand what you're talking about you know, it's
like it's like listening to you with a match card
is like playing Where's Waldo? Sorry, but it's true anyway. Yeah,
(49:17):
I mean, look, I remember when they made the Anna
j Jade Cargill match for one of their their Saturday
pay per view on Rampage, so Tody Khan could wait
until the twelfth hour self match.
Speaker 2 (49:38):
Speaking of, she's facing Megan Baine on Saturday too, and
they moved at the Steve Mongo Michael tribute to Saturday.
Speaker 1 (49:47):
Yeah, which I thought was good because I think they
needed to do Sabo tonight. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (49:53):
You couldn't do them both on the same night.
Speaker 1 (49:55):
Yeah, they would have taken away from each other. And look, no,
I'm looking forward to see what they say about because
not only gonna have you know, Mongo McMichael. You know
you're gonna have Rick Flair there. Yeah, as well, it'll
be interesting to see the reaction to Flair. Uh, we'll see.
Speaker 2 (50:20):
That's the wild cord match for double or Nothing. Players
can get a shot to get somebody.
Speaker 1 (50:26):
Yeah. Well, look, regardless, we've got Beach break from Collision
on Saturday. I'm sure we're gonna get some more matches
for double or nothing. Then we're gonna have uh Dynamite
next week and Collision next week. Again, we may get
some more matches, probably even like zero arm ours our
(50:49):
matches announced. I'm happy with with what's going on so far,
you know, as far as what I do. Wish that
we had gotten more matches announced earlier. But hey, look
we got Anarchy and Arena tonight. We got Tony Storm
and Mina shir Kawa for double or nothing tonight. That's
(51:12):
pretty big deal. So I know if I was going
to double or nothing, my daughter is going to double
or nothing with my son in law. I know that
they're going to be really happy to see what they're
gonna see. I left space at AW doesn't do swings
and missus on pay per views unless it's forbidden Door.
(51:33):
Oh I just don't like forbidden Door.
Speaker 3 (51:35):
I'm sorry AW nails the pay per views. I'm excited
for this as much as that would be any other one.
Speaker 1 (51:43):
Yep, I mean, honest to god, I mean, you know,
as I said, I just said it. You know, I'll
say it again. The only AW pay per views that
I feel are just glorified exhibition shows house shows is
forbidden door. Some people maybe really into it. I think
they suck. So that's just me. When I go see
(52:06):
it live, absolutely would I buy it as a pay
per view again, absolutely not. That's just me. So anyway
that's gonna do, Go ahead.
Speaker 3 (52:20):
No, I was just gonna say, usually they have three
weeks of TV to build towards Forbidden Door. This year
they have like a month and a half, So I
hope they use it wisely.
Speaker 1 (52:29):
Yeah. Well, you know what one thing I will say
for AW, and it seems like they are. It seems
to me like, look just tonight having Gabe Kid come out, Okay,
having Az I'm getting attacked by Mercedes Monet. That's doing
a little bit of a build for Forbidden Door, if
you ask me, you know, instead of I've always described
(52:53):
Forbidden Door at AW as the great momentum killer. That's
the way I've always described it, because AW puts their
storylines on hold for Forbidden Door for matches that are
basically commiserate to Battle of the Belts. You know, it's
where Japanese wrestlers come to lose title matches, you know,
(53:14):
as simple as that. You know, I really do believe
that the only title that has ever changed hands a
Forbidden Door was a Japanese title. You know n JPW title. Well,
Moxley lost.
Speaker 2 (53:27):
Aw doesn't have home field advantage.
Speaker 1 (53:30):
It's neutral ground. But you know again, I to me,
it's Battle of the Belts. You know, some of the
matches could be good, but not worth buying. For me,
that's just me. You know, I'm not trying to sway anybody.
Speaker 3 (53:49):
I hope between bringing Japanese talent over earlier in the
build towards Forbidden Door and I think Grand slamming the
Inxico in Arena Mexico is going to help a lot
to leave CMLLL into that story line. I think I
think CML will be represented it all in as well.
I think that's why they're doing that show right before all.
Speaker 1 (54:09):
I agree with you, it just makes total sense. But
I think the reason they're doing Grand Slam Mexico is
because New Japan Pro Wrestling doesn't want CMLLLL to take
their spots in this pay per view. So so I
think Grand Slam Mexico is going to be CMLL for
Bid Door is going to be New Japan and Stardom,
(54:34):
And that's that's how That's the way I think it's
gonna plant Pan out and that there's a lot of
stardom matches with AW that I may buy it because
I love stardom. Stardom is probably after AW startup is
definitely my second favorite promotion, easily surpassing everybody else including
(54:54):
r o H. So that's just the way. Look, that's why,
that's the way I look at it. But anyway, that's
gonna do it. For tonight's show. We'll be back on
Tuesday night for Ignition, where we'll be covering all the news.
I'm gonna go and look and see if Mina Sheirkkwi
got her graphic and if she's been added to the
AW roster page. I'm looking forward to seeing that. But
(55:16):
until Tuesday night, thank you Red and thank you something
for joining the podcast. Tonight. We'll see on tuesdaight where
we'll be talking about all of the hot topics in
a w join us on our discord. The link will
be in the description of this podcast. Just have some fun.
(55:37):
We always have fun on Ignition and some arguments. Whatever
it happens, we have a lot of laughs though it's
all good natured. So for the AW Fanam podcast team,
Missus Kelson, thanks for listening, guys, good night everybody.
Speaker 2 (55:53):
Thank guess.
Speaker 1 (55:55):
Good Night Eddie Kingston,
