Speaker 1 (00:04):
It's Wednesday. You know what that means. It's time for
all lead talk with the aew Fat Hub podcast team.
This is our ae w Dytamite review show for the
Dynamite that we just saw from Austin, Texas. I'm here
with alf Sutton. Sutton, how you doing tonight?
Speaker 2 (00:24):
I'm having fun. It was a good show tonight.
Speaker 1 (00:27):
Yeah it was. It was an interesting paced show, and
I mean that in a good way. I thought that
I think AW is starting to do some stuff with
their pacing of their shows that I think is really
really resonating positively with the crowd and with the viewers.
I don't know how you feel about it. Let's get
(00:49):
let's let's get started. The first thing we had was
the best Wrestler Live. I mean, if you're going to
start a show, you should start it with the best
wrestler live. I mean, come on, And of course I'm
talking about Max Caster, who is now the second best
rapper in AW behind Harley. Cameron came out and he
(01:11):
did his open challenge and who comes out to accept
the challenge. And I don't think Castor should have been
surprised by this, but hangman, Adam Page. It was definitely funny,
and Page just wrecked him. And I have to give
you I don't know if you follow Castor on social
media or seen him on social media, but he makes
(01:33):
fun of himself constantly, Like I am sure that right
now there is probably a picture of him laying spread
eagle in the ring, acting like a dead man, and
he will make a post saying best wrestler Alive with
the picture of him decimated in the ring.
Speaker 2 (01:51):
It's the match because he kind of wants Adam Page
get out of the ring. He went over and grabbed
this little paper and was holding it up in the
air and was like yes, yes, And I'm sitting there going,
oh my god, Max, you look so stupid. But it
was funny.
Speaker 1 (02:07):
Yeah, I mean, I thoroughly enjoyed this segment. I really did.
I mean, the only thing that I could say negatively
about it is, uh, Max, you got to get rid
of the seventies poorn mustache. You really do. He's not
so much for you, you know. But other than that,
I thought it was really good.
Speaker 2 (02:23):
The only thing to do better for that if he
wants to keep the mustache is get some seventy style pants,
get the big bell bottoms. Or the big you know,
get the big covered. Yeah, that would be better.
Speaker 1 (02:38):
Get some sideburns and mutton chops going on, you know,
whatever you could do. But anyway, that's you know, it
was just an enjoyable segment. So let's move on to
the second match, which came in right away, and that
was the Undisputed Kingdom against the Death Riders. Trios Championship
was the first Trios Championship defense in a W in
(03:05):
over three months. They alluded to was the first one
this year, but it's actually been a lot longer than
just this year. It's been over three months, and frankly,
in Ring of Honor, it's been over six months since.
So the trios divisions in aa W and Ring of
Honor have been really lacking. And this is the first
(03:26):
defense in a combined nine months.
Speaker 2 (03:29):
Yeah, everybody, everybody wants to see that. They I'm glad
they kind of got to the tag teams again, because
the tag teams are, to me, have always been better.
I've never really liked I mean, I don't mind them
having the trios titles, and I don't mind them using
them once in a while, but I prefer the tag
team straight up.
Speaker 1 (03:49):
I don't know about you, Sutton, but I had a
hard time concentrating on this match because ultimately, in my opinion,
the trios titles just don't matter at all for anything,
and it was kind of like watching two mules fighting
over a daisy and you know, in a field. I
just I just couldn't get into this match. I had
(04:10):
a hard time following it.
Speaker 2 (04:12):
I thought it was a decent match. I mean, for
I can't believe I'm going to say this, but I
actually kind of liked down the Speeded Kingdom today. That
was they were kind of they kind of since they've
gotten their act together and got Cole back and they
seem to be getting better. I guess I could say,
I guess that's the way to say it. So you know,
(04:34):
it was okay. I mean, it could have been a
better match. I wish they would have took them off
of the Death Riders just because that might have got
them back into circulation. But like I said, I'm glad
they did this, and they've kind of flip flopped the
tag titles with the trios titles.
Speaker 1 (04:50):
Yeah. Again, I really can't talk about this match because honestly,
what was this like a ten, ten to fifteen minute match,
and I probably saw forty five seconds of it because
I just was messing around on my phone and petting
my dogs and feeding the I just I didn't leave
(05:11):
my chair, but I just didn't have the interest to
look at the TV. It's I don't know how to
explain it, but you know that's the way it is.
Look then' we we're gonna skip around a little bit.
I want to talk about the Samoa Joe Hook and
(05:32):
Shabbata squash match U Portchohn Cruise. Yeah, you know they
didn't get.
Speaker 2 (05:41):
A run at one title. Just for the hell of it,
give him a shot at a title. I don't care
what it is. That boy's been through so much. Every
time you see him, he's getting crushed.
Speaker 1 (05:52):
He needs the he needs the team up with Surpentico,
and I think that they would be good together, you know,
not so much at the match, of course, was a squash.
Joe then got on the mic and not a promo.
(06:13):
I guess they're gonna call the the group of Joe,
Hook and Shabbata ops. Uh, they should just call them
ops because when their opponentsy Hook, they're gonna be themselves,
not Hook but Joe. But yeah, I'm not real. We'll
(06:34):
see how ops goes over, let's just put it that way.
Speaker 2 (06:38):
Yeah, it's gonna be interesting. But they are going to
face their arch rivals next week, so that'll be fun.
Speaker 1 (06:44):
And who are there are rivals the patriarchy? Okay, I
just wanted to see, if you can say it, Oh, yeah.
Speaker 2 (06:53):
I was, I was. I just I'm so tired of patriarchy.
The patriarchy and the the Undisputed Kingdom have flopped places
now for me because before I used to hate the
Undisputed Kingdom. I didn't want to see them on TV,
didn't want to hear them, didn't want to do nothing
with them. They weren't that bad Tonight, I'm just so
sick of the patriarchy. They just are. They're under my
(07:17):
skin and I can't stand them.
Speaker 1 (07:20):
Then they don't bother me because they're not overused. That's
the big thing with me is I tend to not
be fans of something that is overdone without anything really
going on. I think that's one of the reasons why,
you know, I'm not a real big fan of the
Death Writers is because they're on every week, but they're
(07:41):
not doing much to further the story at all. You
know what I mean. From week to week they're basically
doing a repeat of sorts of what happened the previous weeks.
But the patriarchy, they're not on long enough and often enough.
So when they come out, even if they do this
same stuff, at least it's somewhat fresh because you haven't
(08:03):
seen it for two, three four weeks.
Speaker 2 (08:07):
This is true.
Speaker 1 (08:08):
Yeah, so I'm not too bad with that. Moving on,
let me see how I want to do this, Okay,
so let's talk about Chris Jericho. Backstage, he was with
Brian Keith, the bounty hunter, and of course Keith failed
in his attempt to get the two two hundred thousand
(08:30):
dollars bounty for from Bandido or for Bandido from Chris
Jericho on collision. So Chris Jericho decided he was going
to take matters into his own hands, and so we
had Jericho and Bandido meet in the ring. They did
the uh the showdown, I guess is the best. I
(08:52):
think that's what they actually called it. Yeah, that didn't
go as expected. I mean, there was you know, a
little bit of a little bit of Tom fullerygoing on there,
which caused the outrunners Big Bill and Powerhouse Hobbs to
come out. I don't really know why the Outrunners were
out there. Were they ever involved in this before?
Speaker 2 (09:14):
Oh yeah, they've been the last two times. If you'll remember,
I believe well you might know watched it because I
know you're not a big fan of theirs. But like
in the four way they had or the match they
had with the Learning Tree and those guys a couple
of weeks ago, the Outrunners were involved from that. It
started the week before I think it's two weeks ago
when they had the big Death Rider Learning Tree thing
(09:38):
they tag teamed up against I think it was hobb Well.
When Hobbs had his match against Moxley the next weekend,
they were supposed to do the thing on Saturday. They
were supposed to have the big ten man team or
whatever it was, and that since then they've been involved
in it. So yeah, the Outriders are involved. I liked it.
Jericho just kills me sometimes, I swear to God, he
(09:59):
just he's just insane. But you know, Big Bill came out,
you think he was gonna get in and Hobbs came
out and said, I don't think so. And I love
what they're doing with those two.
Speaker 1 (10:10):
Yeah, I'm really I don't know about you, but I
am really hoping that they give Bandido a really nice push. Yeah,
I mean he's I don't know if you saw his
hey e w he did with RJ City. But Bandido
does speak English. Now it's not perfect English, but he
does speak capable English, right and that, and so that's
(10:34):
something plus look not to be not to bring ww
into it, but I'm going to bring it in, bring
it into it. We know, you know, the Penta doesn't
speak English that much, right, and yet here he is
and WWE getting a major push on the main brand,
(10:54):
you know, so it can be done if it's handled right.
And I thought it was interest because you know, Pentas
you know, debuted on RAW a few weeks ago after
several weeks basically of teaser promos that didn't tease anybody
because everybody knew he was coming, right and uh God,
(11:15):
went right up to the main brand, even though again
he doesn't speak English English that well. And they had
Ricky Stark's debut with an XT. You know, Starks is younger,
Uh he speaks English, you know, which is which is
very important for w W E especially, And yet he
didn't get called up to the main You knows.
Speaker 2 (11:38):
The biggest difference there is Pent' is a proven commodity.
You know what you're getting with Pent and Lucibros. They're
one of the greatest tag teams in the world period
in the story. There's only a few tag teams that
I would put even in the same area the same
place with them. Ree starts. We talked about him yesterday.
He's not on that level. He should start an XT.
(11:59):
If they would have brought him to the main roster,
he'd a float. He'd have flop so bad, so fast.
Speaker 1 (12:05):
Well, if he had gotten to the main roster, though,
he would have been definitely under the rank wings of
either CM Punk or Cody Rhoads or both, So I
don't think he would have flopped, you know, But I
just found it interesting. But anyway, back to a w
WE then, Well, earlier at the show we saw Hangman
(12:28):
Adam Page have a backstage altercation or words if you will,
with MJF, which preceded by a few minutes the match
between m JF and the Natural Dustin Rhodes. I thought
that the m JF and Dustin Rhodes match was actually
(12:50):
quite good. I think they played it seemed like I
don't know about you, but there were a couple of
matches on tonight's show that were kind of like reminded
me of an eighties style match, and this was one
of them. It was back and forth, you know, a
(13:11):
lot of one to ooze, as Simon Miller would call him,
a lot of close calls, a lot of taunting and
you know, frankly punching each other in the face and
kicking each other in the nuts kind of thing. I really,
I really enjoyed this match, what about you.
Speaker 2 (13:29):
It was a good match. You know, you can't discredit
Dustin for what he's done. He has been around for
thirty seven years. He's been in five different decades. He's wrestled,
He's wrestled some of the best people around, and he
can hold his own with anybody, and he held his
own with MJF And I think it was credit to
both of them for the job they did tonight. It
(13:50):
was a really good match.
Speaker 1 (13:52):
Yeah. You know, when the match was over at Dustin
Rhodes was lying face down in the middle of the ring,
and this goes to basically what you just said. I
was watching him breathe he had deep, steady breath. But
he wasn't panting, He wasn't out of it, you know
what I mean. He was he could have probably gone
(14:13):
on you know, if they called for him to go
another five minutes, I think he could have gone another
five minutes at least. Yeah, I mean, I mean, the
guy is fifty five years old. When I was fifty five,
I'm just going to the bathroom, I'd have to, you know,
bring a water bottle with me and hydrate. I mean,
(14:35):
it was as bad. I mean, I give all the
credit in the world to Dustin Rhoades. Look when if
you're if you're a younger guy or a younger woman, uh,
listening to this podcast, and you just don't know how
hard it is to do what Dustin Rhoades did tonight
at that age, because I couldn't even think of doing it.
(14:58):
Of course, he's trained to do it and I haven't.
But what I'm just saying is that you've got to
appreciate it because it was seamless. There's another thing that
I noticed about that tonight. I don't know if you
noticed it. M JF is not the tallest guy in
the world.
Speaker 2 (15:15):
Short King did say that that loud. Yeah, but he's
a sure guy.
Speaker 1 (15:20):
Yeah, what is he five to eight? Five five to
nine at best?
Speaker 2 (15:23):
Maybe I think he's five nine.
Speaker 1 (15:26):
He's got to be I think that I've heard that
he was five to nine. But when he initially did
the backstage thing with hang Man Adam Paige, he was almost,
not quite but almost eye to eye with Hangman Adam Paige.
And Hangman Adam Paige is six foot even. And of
(15:47):
course now you've got to probably think that, you know,
Hangman Ata Page is wearing wrestling boots, may add a
half inch an inch to that, okay? Uh? And I
noticed that. I was like, is standing on a box
or what's going on that? No, not at all, not
at all, because when Dustin Rohades is significantly taller than
(16:12):
hey Man Adam Page.
Speaker 2 (16:14):
Yeah, I think Dustin's like sixty six six five six six.
Speaker 1 (16:17):
I believe you're right. I think six to six is
what he said. He's probably six four because they do
embellish a little bit, you know, with height and weight.
But I would definitely say, just for the sake of argument,
let's just say that he's six to four. Go back
and look at this match and look for two things.
One is an MGF was not did not look like
a five foot nine guy going against a six foot
(16:39):
four guy.
Speaker 2 (16:40):
No, he doesn't. Yes, he never looks like he's it's
I think it's just the aura about him.
Speaker 1 (16:48):
He moved out bigger than No. No, no, go back
and look at this match and look at it. Look
at MGS wrestling boots. Those things had like three inch
heels on him. I mean, he was literally wrestling in
platform shoes.
Speaker 2 (17:04):
I've got to check that out now.
Speaker 1 (17:06):
You gotta go look at it, because I was because
I noticed it when he was in the backstage segment
with Hangman Adam Page earlier in the show. I was like,
how the hell is MGFS almost as tall as Hangman
at a Page He's like three inches shorter, you know,
and uh and I'm like and then he got into
the rig and I just started laughing because I was like,
look at the freaking boots that this guy has on.
(17:28):
They were from heel to toe platform.
Speaker 2 (17:33):
That's crazy.
Speaker 1 (17:34):
I was like, I don't know, he must have had
to practice wrestling in those shoes a lot. Go look
at there were solid black. There was no other color.
They were completely black, So they were kind of it's
kind of hard to spot, but even so, you could
clearly see that those shoes that wearing added at least
(17:56):
two to three inches to his height.
Speaker 2 (17:58):
Because now, as you mentioned, it did look weird in
the beginning when they came out and we're head to head. Uh,
you know, Dustin didn't have to duck that far down
to get that forehead to forehead things. So yeah, that
that's weird. Oh man talk about.
Speaker 1 (18:14):
Well what well, remember at the end of the match.
At the end of this match, Hangman Addam Page came
back out after m JF had beaten Dustin Rhodes. Hangman
added Page came back out and they got nose to
nose basically. Now, Hangman ad and Page was still taller
than m JF. But he wasn't three inches taller. He
was more like an inch maybe you know it was
(18:38):
it was just obvious. I mean, wow, m MJF is
growing before our eyes. Folks.
Speaker 2 (18:44):
There you go, Well, he's in his you know, he's
he's in his teens, he's in his his his still
growth state.
Speaker 1 (18:49):
So yeah, he's a gross skirt. You know, the shoes
probably have nothing to do with it, but you know,
I do want to say something about this this right here,
because you know, Hangman, Adam Paige and MGF were on
earlier in the show. Then MGF had a match. Of course,
(19:10):
Hangman An and Page had a match, so we had
Hangman Adam Page against Max Cast. Then we had MGF
and Hangman Man and Page in a backstage segment. Then
we had the match between MGF and Dustin Rhodes, with
Hangman An and Page coming out after the match twice
because he got killed, he got removed by security, and
(19:32):
then he came back and fought again. I really like
that AW is doing this because they're not just they
could have eate. In the past, they would have just
thrown MGF and Dustin Rhodes out there to have a match.
Right now, they're using vignettes, and they're using other matches,
and they're using you know, they're using their time to
(19:58):
make these matches meaningful, even though when you really look
at it and face value, the MGF at Dustin Rhodes
match was basically, you know, hey, we need to get
Dustin Rhodes another match in Austin, Texas because we don't
know if it'll be ever ever will wrestle in Austin,
Texas anymore? You know so, But when you think about it,
(20:20):
they made that match meaningful. They made everything meaningful. Even
the Max cast versus Hagman annam Page thing was meaningful,
you know so. I like the way that AW. I
guess what I'm saying is AW is not just relying
on banger matches and in ring storytelling anymore. They're really
(20:42):
working on telling a story outside of the ring as well.
And I think that they've gotten the idea because the
perception from fans has changed quite a bit for AW
Dynamite and AW Collision because they've been doing this for
the better part well almost since uh, since they decided
(21:04):
to go on MAX. Yeah, the structs changed.
Speaker 2 (21:09):
My son came down afterwards before I got on here,
and he was talking about you know, we was talking
about the match real quick, and he said, you know,
two weeks ago it was a pretty blase Dynamite, but
then Collision was up against the WWE and they had
a banger Collision, and then last week's Dynamite was great,
(21:30):
then the Collision was great, and this it seems like
they've had like one bad show this year and every
other show since then has been top of the line,
and they've been turning it over and just like I
don't know what happened, but somehow Tony's gotten the idea
that this works better and he's doing it and impressive.
Speaker 1 (21:51):
You know, it's interesting because this is the best way
I could explain it. In the past, when you just
do banger matches for the sake of doing banger matches,
you could really just watch those highlights on YouTube and
not miss anything. Right now, now you have to watch
the shows not to miss anything, right that's the difference.
(22:13):
I did have another thought about it, but you know,
as you were prone to do, I have completely lost it.
Speaker 2 (22:20):
So I mean, it happens. Man, we're old. Give us,
give yourself a break. I don't worry about it anymore.
I know I'm gonna have those moments in one day. Come.
I just you know, you deal with.
Speaker 1 (22:33):
I'll remember at a random time later on in the show.
Speaker 2 (22:38):
Yeah. Yeah, happens to me all the time.
Speaker 1 (22:44):
Yeah. Then then there was something interesting that happened here
as well, because the next match we had was Megan
Bain in a squash match again somebody from Austin, who
got a really good crowd reaction. I was thrilled that
for that young lady, you know, for that, but began
(23:05):
Bain for all in ten purposes, murdered her, right, you know.
And then I mean, there's really not much to talk
about in this match other than Megan Bain isn't just
a big person that just you know, bulldozees. She's athletic,
is holy cow? I mean she flies all over the place. Yeah,
(23:30):
She's not just strength, she's agility too. Right.
Speaker 2 (23:33):
I liked her match, you know, it's what do you
expect from a match like that? But the h I
see the mass It's coming here very soon.
Speaker 1 (23:42):
Yeah, because right, I loved this as well. I don't
know if you saw it, but I made a post
on the aw fan hub subreddit on Collision in the
last about the last hour. I think it was more
like sixty five minutes. The women's division got over twenty
eight minutes of TV time in the last hour of Collision.
(24:07):
I mean it when you think about it, don't forget
there was also commercials, right, you know, So it wasn't
like sixty five minutes. It was more like maybe fifty
to fifty five minutes if you take the commercials. So
the women's division took up half the time. Well, in
this case, we had Megan band come out with for
(24:29):
this squash match, which took you know what, five minutes maybe, yes,
I mean the woman that she went against did not
just crumble to the ground and fall over. She did
take she didn't have any offense at all, but she
did take a lot of bumps which took some time.
But right after this match, Megan Bain was going up
(24:50):
the ramp, Chris Statlander was already coming down the ramp
for her match with Penelope Ford. And I don't know
about you, and I know you're a Chris stat Lander fan,
but boy, this was a the I really really really
liked this match, Statlander Ford.
Speaker 2 (25:09):
That was it was good. It was a good match.
I just I don't know, there's just something about they're
they're putting these matches together, and I get it, they
gotta get there, they're getting women in it, but they
really didn't have a storyline for these two to have
a match. I get what it's leading to because Megan
Bain came out and attacked thunder Rosa on Saturday to
(25:33):
the help of Palelo be Ford, and again tonight the
same thing happened. But now I can see that they're
going to have a Megan Bain, Penelop Befod versus thunder
Rosa and Statlander. I just I don't know. It's it's
like you're to me, it's almost like they're trying to
build Statlander up. They're trying to build Penelop before it up,
(25:53):
but then they pull together for absolutely no reason other
than to get them on TV. It just, I mean,
I get, but it's going to It just seemed weird
to me. It was a great match, though I'm not
gonna say it won a good match, it just didn't
seem to I get the idea. It's just as weird
the way this is one of those matches. It's kind
of outside of everything else. All the other things were
(26:14):
all setting something up, and I guess this is setting
something up, but it had nothing to set it up.
Speaker 1 (26:20):
Yeah. Well, you know, I think one of the things
they're doing here is, as we talked about on our
Edition podcast last week, there is an indication that there
are women's tag team belts right coming. Well, if you're
gonna have a women's tag team belts, why not start
establishing women's tag teams?
Speaker 2 (26:42):
This is true. I mean, like I said, I just
I don't know. I've been a fan. I'm always gonna
be a fan of Statlaner because she's Oh. I thought
she's been one of the best women performers that they've
had from the beginning. Even though she was out for
a while with both her knees. I mean, she came
back and she's been as stronger, stronger than she was
when she started. It's just for for me being a
(27:03):
fan of hers. She's getting to me. She's getting the
run around with what they're letting her. She's never had
her roses. She's had one title run, but she's never
got that title shot at the women's divis at the
women's title, which I think she deserves.
Speaker 1 (27:17):
But I agree, especially she keeps having matches like the
ones she's had against Mercedes and the one she's had
against Willow and now the one that she had right
Tony it against Penola, I thought was on the north
side of good. You know, I thought it was borderline great. Uh,
don't forget pol before it has fed out for quite
(27:38):
a while. Yeah, she's had about five or six matches now,
but her style of wrestling is super athletic and that's
not easy.
Speaker 2 (27:47):
No, no, And like I said, you know, they're there.
It just seems that you're you're trying to push two
people with the same towards the same thing, yet you're
pulling them up against each other without any kind of
the story other than that you're hopefully building towards a
tag match later on and maybe something with Bain and Penelope,
(28:08):
and maybe something with stat and Thunderosa, although you know
there's other tag teams that they could be a part of. Yeah,
and I liked how the ref that we hadn't talked
about it, but like when they stole the briefcase tonight,
which they.
Speaker 1 (28:22):
Did well, where we're not there yet.
Speaker 2 (28:25):
Well, and then I was just gonna say that they
had mentioned during the match that she went might have
been thinking about what Marina did to Willow, which I
thought was kind of hard to bring that up. It
had absolutely nothing to do with the match other than
the fact that it's some offshoot story that might or
might not be part of what they're doing for Statlanders.
So that guy thought that was weird.
Speaker 1 (28:45):
Yeah, you know, and I don't know if you noticed this,
but you'd already said that after the match, Megan Bain
did return to take out Chris Statlander, which I thought
was really well done as well. But I don't know
if you notice this, is that what Megan Band came
out for a squash match, she came out through the
(29:07):
babyface tunnel. Once she came out after the Chris Statlander
Penelope Forward match, she came out through the heel tunnel.
Speaker 2 (29:16):
Yeah, but I think she left again through the babyface.
Speaker 1 (29:21):
I didn't notice that.
Speaker 2 (29:22):
Yeah, when she goes up and leaves the final time
that she they're talking it out, she goes out the
baby face and I was thinking to myself, is she going,
what the hell is she gonna do? Because now she's
got both She's used both tunnels. That don't make no
sense to me. What are they gonna do with her?
Is she gonna be a face, she gonna be a heel,
They gonna make her a tween? You know what I mean?
I got what I hear what you're saying. But yeah,
(29:43):
that was kind of odd that they did that.
Speaker 1 (29:45):
Yeah, and then of course after we had this uh
Chris Statlander Penelophe Forward and of course Megan Bane not
interference but showing up after the match, we immediately went
into the Harley Cameron vignette, which I thought was extremely
(30:05):
well done. I mean it started off playful, Harley Cameron
that it just kind of record stop and she got serious,
and I bought it was amazing.
Speaker 2 (30:20):
Her whole, her whole, her whole thing is amazing. And
and I'm glad she's getting this match against Monette, but
I'm not glad that she's gonna lose the match against Monette,
because like they've done to They've done it to Penelope,
they've done it to Queen Amanada. They put these guys
who they're getting huge pushes for and the fans are
(30:42):
backing in matches that they're not gonna win, and you
I just I hate that about this because it's going
no matter how she does against Monette, whether it's Moneue
has to beats her with the uh around the rules
a little bit, or it's a clean beat or whatever,
it's still going to be I think it's you know,
(31:04):
it's gonna help her a little bit, but it's gonna
take some momentum way and I don't like that. It
just doesn't make any sense to.
Speaker 1 (31:09):
Me, you know what. I kinda I kind of I'm
going to be talking out of my ass here because
I'm not one hundred percent sure of this, but I
remember back a couple of years ago when I believe
Swerve in Our Glory defeated the Acclaim to win the
(31:33):
Tag Team champions Championship, and what that did was it
set up the Acclaim to win the championship back in
their hometown at the pay per view. Right so, I'm
wondering if it's possible that Harley Cameron will get her
flowers and actually steal a win and win the TBAs
(31:57):
Championship here at Grand Slam, and then maybe just lose
it back to Mercedes Monet at Revolution. I mean Revolution is,
you know, three weeks, three weeks away from Grand Slam, basically,
(32:19):
so that.
Speaker 2 (32:23):
It would make sense. But honestly, if they give Hardy
the win, I would like to just see Monette walk
away from the TBS title and possibly move into the
world I can't believe I'm saying this. I'd like to
see her move into some higher competition because right now,
I'm not that impressed with Monette. I've made myself perfectly
(32:44):
clear on how I feel about her over the last
month or two. She is she's she's got enough title,
she doesn't need to keep this title, And the longer
they keep it on her. That just makes less sense
to me. Get her, have her lose the title and
have her either move on to going after whoever wins
the women's title, be it Mariah or Tony, or even
(33:08):
go over to Roh for a minute and go after
the Roh champ there are so many.
Speaker 1 (33:13):
Or form attack team and go after that title.
Speaker 2 (33:16):
If they do, it's a weird time. I mean, I
love the women's division. I love what they're doing with it.
There's just some things that to me still don't make
any sense. I don't get I get the fact that
Monette is this super overperson with some people, but most
people seem to be getting old with the with what
she does. But you don't need to have four titles
(33:38):
on somebody. I mean, the longer she keeps these titles,
the less time that gives to other women to have
those titles and make something of themselves. And I just
don't get the I don't get that. I just don't.
Speaker 1 (33:50):
Well, ultimately, let me just say this, based on what
I've seen in the last well several weeks months from
Harley Camp and what the work she's done and what
she did tonight, I would not be shocked if Harley
Cameron walked away with the TVs Championship and actually called
(34:11):
the TVs Championship for a while, because look, she's a commodity.
She's probably easily one of the top easily at the
top five characters at AW right now.
Speaker 2 (34:27):
Actually, to me, she's actually like the top women when
it comes to the whole package, because I'm sorry, there's
nobody else in aw women's division that can rap and
sing and do ventriloquism and have that crazy. I'm not psycho,
I'm not psycho, but I am attitude, you know what
I mean.
Speaker 1 (34:48):
Yeah, I mean, let me put it this way. Rapping
and singing and doing ventrolcalism is nice, and speaking Mandarin
Chinese is nice as well. It has nothing to do
with wrestling. It's kind yeah. But but so when it
(35:08):
comes to that, I mean, look at what Tony Storm
is doing. Tony Storm, and what she's doing is character work,
and of course what Harley Cameron is doing is character work,
but ultimately that doesn't affect their wrestling ability. I do believe,
I honestly do believe that I enjoy Harley Cameron every
(35:28):
bit as much as I as I enjoy Tony Storm.
I'm not saying one is better than the other, but
I'm just saying that I enjoy them both. But when
it comes to end ring wrestling ability, Tony Storm has
the experience that she has the better wrestling ability. Harley
Cameron is not bad and she's getting better. I mean most,
(35:55):
that would be the most. That would be such a
deranged tag team. It would be exhaust to watch.
Speaker 2 (36:01):
It would be hilarious. Man, that would be the that
would be. They just had to put those two on
the show every show. You'd never get tired of them
because you never knew what the hell they were gonna do.
Speaker 1 (36:12):
Now, they're both Ausies, they're both from the Gold Coast.
They're both but you know, Tony Storm didn't live that
long at the Gold Coast in Australia, but they're both
from the same place. I mean, they're they're ready made.
Although I do have to say I'd still eventually like
to see Thunderstorm back together again. Thunder Rosy I.
Speaker 2 (36:34):
Would be a good one. But I think they're gonna
end up moving towards possibly Storming or thunder Rosa and Statlander,
possibly with the way that whole story seems to be
going right now, which I mean, there's so it's the
nice thing about the AW Women's division. If you were
to sit down and try to figure out the best
women's tag teams that you could put together, there's almost
(36:57):
an unimaginable number that you could put together and make
amazing tight teams because there's so many women in a
I don't think, honestly, I've been watching wrestling for as longer,
longer than you have. I don't think I've ever seen
a women's division it's been like this ever anywhere.
Speaker 1 (37:14):
I mean, I I've always said, you know, and I
stick by it that, you know, people that say that
WWE as the best women's division or NXT specifically as
the best women's division, there was a time in the
very recent future where arguably TNA had the best women's division.
Of course, people will say that AW has the best
(37:35):
women's division, But I still don't think anybody touches start.
Speaker 2 (37:39):
Well, I'm I'm I guess you're true, that's true about that.
But what I'm thinking is is I'm thinking of the women.
For me, stardom is a women's only thing. I mean,
there's nothing else that they do other than women.
Speaker 1 (37:51):
I can't hold that against them. I mean, no, I.
Speaker 2 (37:53):
Can't either when it comes down to I don't want
to say this normal wrestling, not you know where a
normal that has men and women in it, of all
those companies.
Speaker 1 (38:10):
Just wait a second here, because I just want to
give a public service announcement. Anybody that wants to make
a complaint about sexism, you can send the suck at
aw fan hub at gmail.
Speaker 2 (38:24):
I'm just saying, when you have, when you have the
type of female roster that a W does, I would
put them up against anybody, including stardom, and they would
they would be able to hold their own I like
it a while on the thing because it comes on
my YouTube, but I just there's just so much talent
in ae W right now.
Speaker 1 (38:44):
Yeah, I mean, but here's the thing is that it
doesn't really matter how much talent a W has if
they're in the women's division if they're not given the time.
And I already said earlier in the podcast how much
time that they were given on Collision, Well, will you
look at it? You mentioned earlier to Willow nine Gale
backstage segment, and then of course you had that Meghan
(39:07):
Bain match was a squash match, but it was still
a match. Then you had Statlander Ford in a long,
really good match with Megan Bain coming back off follow me,
followed immediately by Harley Cameron once again at the nine
o'clock hour. Shortly after the nine o'clock hour. The women's
division that dominated Dynamite for a large portion of the show,
(39:29):
and I love that. I want to see this happening
every week. The only thing I'd like for to do
is maybe changing up a little bit. Instead of having
them going from nine to ten to nine to forty
every week, maybe go from eight forty to nine ten.
Speaker 2 (39:50):
Yeah, you know what I mean. I still think they
need to do a little bit better job of getting
a bigger variety of the women in aw because we
do see a lot of the women the same all
the time. I mean, Penelope Ford said three matches in
the last two weeks or two matches, you know, and
stat Lander and Willow were having matches like every damn
(40:11):
you know, almost as well. I can't say that all
I was gonna say, almost as much as as u
wors Cassidy was, but they were like every women's match
at that time was them. I with a little more,
but by.
Speaker 1 (40:23):
The same token, you got to take that you have
to take and invest the time to make the stories
that you're trying to build buildable. So that's that. Well,
let's move on. Remember earlier, I had mentioned that there
were two matches on this show that I thought were
(40:44):
eighties style matches, the first one being MGFF against the
Natural Dustin Rose. The second one was the Guns versus
the Hurt Syndicate. I thought that this was at eighties
style match where it was back in four with a
lot of It wasn't really too much back and forth,
but there was a lot of desperation moves where the
(41:07):
Guns were under the gun, so to speak, and they
had to rely on the crowd to motivate them, and
it was just pure eighties wrestling to me. Would you agree?
Speaker 2 (41:17):
Oh yeah, I loved it.
Speaker 1 (41:20):
That was fun.
Speaker 2 (41:21):
Yeah. And that's the thing that's been missing from the
tag team division is you just you don't have these
legit tag team matches anymore. And now they're starting to
get back to those, and I think it's great.
Speaker 1 (41:35):
Man. We knew, I mean, I don't know why, I'm
not gonna speak for you, but I knew that the
Guns were not gonna win this match. But I think
What it did was it established that, hey, the Guns
are good enough that if they win a couple more
matches as a tag team, they could get a rematch
against the Hurt Syndicate and I'd be there for it,
because it wasn't good enough match to show that they
(41:57):
can do it. And I think you also have to
take it consider had how good this match was that
uh I believe I can't remember which one of the
Guns was injured, but they went out for several months
and this was their first match back. Frank the other
the other Gun brother did not wrestle during that time either,
So Guns have not wrestled. I believe they said four months, four.
Speaker 2 (42:19):
Months, Yeah, and that's the match to bring them back in.
Speaker 1 (42:23):
Oh my god, let's bring them back.
Speaker 2 (42:24):
We're gonna bring you guys back. He ain't wrestled foremost.
Let's put you up against the champions who are just
decimating everybody else, but go forward. That That to me
is like wow. But I always liked the Guns. I
just think that the fact that on Saturday, when they
made the challenge, they kind of bought into the the
ass that was good and I think they actually should
(42:45):
should revel in that a little bit.
Speaker 1 (42:47):
Yeah. I mean, if you go back and listen to
some of our old podcasts, especially when the Guns first
showed up in a W I was not a really
big fan of the ass boys in the ring. I
felt that, uh that especially like their fluidity was off.
They were fantastic sellers, but they were always in the
(43:08):
wrong spot and they had to adjust and it was obvious,
you know, like sometimes when you see somebody fall in
the middle of the ring and the spot with then
be against the ring post, and they just got to
drag themselves ten feet across the ring to lead against
the ring post, you know, their turn buckles whatever. Uh,
but the Guns were guilty of that. They've gotten so
(43:28):
much better and they're so much more enjoyable to watch.
Speaker 2 (43:33):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (43:33):
You could tell that they're definitely students of wrestling, and
they are coachable, they listen. You could just tell by
watching them wrestle and watching them perform that they are
absolutely they're young, and they're you know, when they first
started in aw they were green and they wrestled the green.
(43:55):
But you know, they are legit.
Speaker 2 (44:00):
I agree, you know, and and and and and it's
nice to see that a young team has grown as
much as they've grown, and it's a good thing for
the tag team division. I really think it is.
Speaker 1 (44:13):
Yeah, yeah, well ships. Yeah, let's talk about the death writers.
So earlier in this show we saw Adam Copeland and
Jay White. I guess they pushed Marina Shaffir into was
(44:36):
it a bathroom or a storage room and the briefcase
that was on a chain to her wrist was outside
of the door with the door closed on it, so
they were able to use, you know, butters you had
to get the get the get the briefcase out, which
(44:59):
I wish they would have done that a little bit
better because had ex Caliber not said anything about that
taking the briefcase, I would have not known that they
took the briefcase because I didn't. I didn't see it.
I just did not see it, you know. I thought
that they should have focused on that a little bit
more right.
Speaker 2 (45:17):
A little bit more time, I think to me, and
I've said this before, I don't have a problem with
the death Riders thing, because starting last week, they've started
to change the way the death Rids come across. They
are involved a lot, but they're not doing what they
did before. And tonight it was the same thing. Moxian
(45:37):
and got the chain taking. They got the case out
of the way, and then they started doing their thing,
and the ending was not what people would have thought
it was going to be.
Speaker 1 (45:48):
Okay, So what were your were what were your thoughts
on the ending?
Speaker 2 (45:55):
Well, I think that you know, most of the time,
it was always complaints that the dumb Faces would stay
in the ring and get the crap kicked out of them,
and then that would be the death Riders would go on.
That's not what happened. They came out, they got attacked.
But in the end it wasn't the Faces that were
beat down. It was the Death Writers, even though it
was four on two, which I thought was a really
(46:17):
big deal. That makes the whole thing with the Death
Writers that the don't want to say paradigm, but the
way it's turning out is starting to make that turn
towards the end. It's slowly going on, but it's it's happening.
I think that's a really good thing.
Speaker 1 (46:34):
Yeah, so we saw the Babyfaces show some aggression. They
took the briefcase, uh for story purposes. They called out
the Death Writers to come and take the briefcase you
know from them, h and at that point they lost
(47:00):
because that was the dumbest thing I've ever seen in
my life. That was just so that was so poorly
done tonight. It was so stupid. I mean, you had
Adam Copeland in the ring, in control of the briefcase,
and he had that baseball bat with the metal sticket
out of it, what do you call it, spike? And
(47:21):
so what did he do? He just stood there holding
the briefcase and holding or had spike in his hand
and allowed himself to get get the briefcase stolen from
him without actually using spike at any point.
Speaker 2 (47:36):
No, he did. He hit. He hit the briefcase twice.
Speaker 1 (47:39):
I'm talking about on a human being.
Speaker 2 (47:41):
Oh well, yeah, he's.
Speaker 1 (47:42):
Not going to use that on the No, but he's
stood there and he had I think Pack backed up
into the corner and just stood there and stared at
him for like ten seconds holding spike, had Pack totally
at his mercy. Had that allowed John Moxley to just
calmly and slowly limp to robes, get into the ring
and back Adam Kolpan in the back. And at that
(48:04):
point I was like, are these people gonna keep doing
this stupid shit week after week? Because once again, everything
the Death Writers did in this episode was the weakest
part of the episode. The match with the underspeeded Kingdom
and and the trios match with pac Juda and Casignoli
(48:26):
could not hold my attention, and the ending was absolutely
dog shit.
Speaker 2 (48:34):
I kind of I gotta disagree. I thought it was good.
I thought it was good that they they took him
down two on four and they didn't let them beat
them down, and they set it up for a good
match for Saturday.
Speaker 1 (48:47):
Yeah, you know, and I don't think it's gonna be
the main event Saturday, you know. I think that that's
gonna definitely be Tony Storm and Mariam and I think
that would be great having you know, Tony Storm, Riah
May in Australia being the being the match. But I
kind of want the match between the Death Writers and
(49:12):
who is it Boxley and Casti's.
Speaker 2 (49:14):
Mackleman, cath and the Only versus j White and Adam Copelan.
Speaker 1 (49:18):
Yeah, I really would not mind for that to be
the main event because I would like to go to
Better early because I have no intention of watching that match.
I'm the first match.
Speaker 2 (49:32):
I kind of thought about that last night, and to
be honest, I think that if if the Tony Storm
Rian May match is the final match Tony Storms winning
the title, if it's not the main event, they're not
having to win the title and they're going to provelong
it on until the next until revolution.
Speaker 1 (49:49):
Yeah no, I I kind of agree with you. I
just I just get just being honest here, the Death
Writers could throw money at me and I probably wouldn't
want to watch them. I mean, I'm done with them.
It's it's overdone with. They could do it from starting
from you know, on a Grand Slam Australia. They could
(50:11):
be perfect and I wouldn't care because it's just it's
just been the single dumbest wrestling story ongoing storyline that
I have literally ever seen. And I you know, I'm
just being honestly, I have not enjoyed. There's been like
(50:34):
one or two instances where I kind of was like,
oh well that kind of made sense pretty early on too.
Other than that, I'm just like nothing. I honestly, I
struggled to watch this tonight. You know, the Death Writers
(50:54):
did the trios match and the ending. I literally had
to concentrate to try to keep my interest up. Just
being honest, buddy, right, now, you.
Speaker 2 (51:04):
Know, everybody likes certain things and certain people don't like
certain things. I mean, that's the way it is with wrestling.
I just think it's going along just the way it's
supposed to, and it's going to end. It's going to
have some surprises before it ends.
Speaker 1 (51:16):
Yeah, So that was basically the end of the show.
So on Saturday night is Grand Slam Australia. Of course,
time differences are a lot, so when it does come
up on Saturday night on TNT and on Max, it's
(51:36):
going to be on a major time delay, so avoid spoilers.
Put it that way. They're estimating, well, they're saying that
it's going to start after the All Star weekend thing
is over. But I did see that they were estimating
it to be around ten thirty pm, which means that
(52:00):
it'll be ending, you know, about twelve thirty pm or am.
Of course there's the Eastern time. But the one thing
that I wanted to say is Saturday is February fifteenth,
twenty twenty five. On February fifteenth, twenty twenty three, aw
(52:22):
Fanhub was created, So Saturday is our two year anniversary,
and of course we will be doing a live chat
at aw fan Hub in the aw Fanhub fanub chat
rooms during Grand Slam. Because it's so late, we may
(52:43):
lose some people that aren't going to be able to
watch it because they live on live on the East Coast.
You know, they have kids, they go to bed whatnot,
you know, or to go or they're out having a
good time at the bars or you know, live their
best life at least, you know, so we get that.
I hope we have a good turnout for the live chat.
If you've never participated in our live chats before, please
(53:06):
consider stop it by the aw fat hub subreddit chat
room and talk with us in the live chat. The
David A chat room is right there on the subreddit.
It's the Dynamite and Collision live chat, and we have
a couple, you know, a few hundred people in there
already and it's very active. But like I said, because
it's so late at night, it may not be as
(53:28):
active as it normally is. And I don't want to
be in their board, so please join us. You know. So,
I'm not much of a chatter. I like watching the
show instead of chatting. And you can kind of tell
when something is hit or miss when something is hitting
the chat gets silent because people are watching the show,
(53:49):
they're not chatting about it, you know what I mean, right,
And when something is dog shit, people are chatting quite
crazy because what's on TV isn't show isn't keeping some
of the people's interests as much, you know, and it's
it's interesting, it's interesting. You know, you could tell a
(54:09):
lot about the show by by reading the live chat.
You really can. Uh, it's very telling, and uh it's
a lot of fun too, and you meet a lot
of people. You get to talk to people, and you know,
we have our regulars and everybody knows, hey, where who
(54:31):
where's this person? Or they haven't been here tonight yet
and they show up and it's there they are, you
know kind of thing. So it's a very conversational, really
good way to get to know people. And it's open
to anybody on the on on reddit. You don't even
have to be a member of the aw fanhobb subreddit
to participate. So there you go, and with that that's
(54:55):
the end of all they talk aw Dynamite from Austin
in Texas review Sutton thanks a lot for joining me tonight,
problem and uh we'll see you hopefully on Tuesday night
for Ignition, where it will be covering the hot topics
(55:16):
for the week that you know, over the weekend you
always get some something that comes up. Boy, we had
a lot to talk about last night, but we will
see what happens.
Speaker 2 (55:26):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (55:28):
Let's uh enjoy the weekend, guys, enjoy Grand Slam, and
we'll see you Tuesday night at eight forty five Easter
for Ignition. So for all of sudden, this is Kelson.
Good night everybody.
Speaker 2 (55:42):
Good night, guys,
