Speaker 1 (00:05):
It's Wednesday. You know what that means. It's time for
all lead talk with the aw Fadha podcast team. Tonight
we saw a W Dynamite from Saint Paul, Minnesota, and
we're going to do a review of tonight's show. This
is Kelson and this is Shane D.
Speaker 2 (00:23):
Kelson. You got some news for us, man, go ahead
and spill the beans.
Speaker 1 (00:27):
Yeah, it's really not news, but we talked about it
last night on the Ignition podcast. Mina shi Kawa, like
we were talking about last night, she was expected to
come to AW and I mentioned last night that started
was going to be doing a press conference. Well, the
press conference happened. Mina Shirakawa and Taro Ocatta, who is
(00:48):
the CEO of Stardom. Mina Shirakawa did announce that March
thirty first, twenty twenty five is her last day with
Starnum and she is leaving Starnhum. She has signed with
a W. So Wow, that happened fast, but Feifel said
that it's been planned for weeks, months, whatever. But it's
(01:14):
news to us. And you know, mina big time star
in AW. I mean she's definitely over.
Speaker 2 (01:24):
Yeah, Kelson, I gotta ask you man, do you think
this is going to have any impact on Mariah May
resigning her contract over the summer.
Speaker 1 (01:33):
Mariah May three days ago posted a picture of her
and Mina Sheiri Kawa on her Twitter saying something to
the effect of it, I don't actually know the exact
wording that you use, but basically said forever on it.
Speaker 2 (01:49):
I mean, that's great news. We have two huge women's stars,
the prospect of women's tag titles in the tubes right now,
and you know, both of them we could count on
seeing in a programming. Can't complain about that. That's fantastic news, absolutely.
Speaker 1 (02:04):
I mean at the prospects of Mina bringing over, because
there's supposedly a lot of stardom talent that is working
with contracts expiring soon. Mina obviously loves a w and
the fans obviously love her. I mean, we've seen tam
Nakano and we've seen you know, just different wrestlers from
(02:30):
stardom come over here. There's been some big names in
stardom like Seoria new Starlight Kid that's a POY who
have not come over yet. But maybe this is going
to be something where AW is going to start sending
some more women over to stardom, and maybe stardom will
be sending women over to aw Hey, let's not forget
(02:54):
forbidden door is what not what three months away? So
I mean, so this this has opened some doors.
Speaker 2 (03:05):
I mean, one thing's for sure. We got some real
killer women's wrestling. Uh, you know, headed our way and
grateful to be able to see it. Speaking about great wrestling, Kelson,
h let's get uh, let's get into dynamite man. You
know the programs, Yeah, programs started with Kenny Omega versus
Blake Christian and you know, Blake played off the heel
(03:27):
very well. Uh, Kenny sold his ass off. It was
a pretty solid match, a little bit short, but you know,
following the match, we got some promos. We got to
hear Mike Bailey actually cut a promo and he sounded
somewhat convincing. Could use a little mic work. But then
we got Ricochet doing his thing at his wedding, which
I found to be humorous to some degree. You guys
(03:48):
got any opinions on this segment on this match?
Speaker 3 (03:54):
Match away and.
Speaker 4 (03:58):
He's the man, he's a I liked what he said afterwards.
Uh Ricochet's Ricochet speedball.
Speaker 5 (04:06):
Yeah, you're right, he does have a little bit of
an issue with the speaking, but he'll get there.
Speaker 1 (04:11):
Yeah, did you guys notice it's Shane. I don't know
if you notice this, but this is the first match
in recent memory, but I say recent memory, probably since
twenty twenty two where I didn't see one time Ken
you Omega clutching his abdomen.
Speaker 2 (04:29):
And he did sell an abdomen clutch after that inverted
tope suicida from Blake. Of course that would be the
psychopath to pay attention to that. Yeah, but it was
barely noticeable.
Speaker 1 (04:43):
Yeah, but that was kind of like you're supposed to
do that. Usually he's walking around with his arm. Tuck
did covering his abdomen for a lot of the times
where there's breaks in the match. He didn't do that tonight.
Speaker 2 (04:56):
So maybe that was Maybe Blake wasn't that convincing as
of an opponent for him.
Speaker 1 (05:03):
Maybe not, Maybe.
Speaker 2 (05:05):
Not sucks to suck Blake.
Speaker 1 (05:08):
Yeah, Hey, you know what next segment really interested me?
And this is something that I never thought I would say,
but this Chris Jericho backstage segment really interested me because
they showed a little, you know, highlight package of his
match on collision where he lost the gravity mats, and
of course possession is you know, nine tenths of the law,
(05:32):
So Chris Jericho owned it, according to Jericho. But now
we've got a Dynasty match. I was surprised he didn't
set it for Super Card of Honor, which also takes
place really soon. But at Dynasty it's going to be
Chris Jericho and Bandido. In Jericho's title versus Bandido's mask.
Speaker 2 (05:56):
You know, in Jericho should really be in dighted for
grand theft mask.
Speaker 1 (06:03):
Yeah, how many is he stolen? Now?
Speaker 2 (06:11):
Couple on his you know, his uh stable, his current
grouping of guys. It's starting to look like they actually
might break these guys up, which would be cool. You know,
maybe Jericho goes on a solo run. I think he's
going to drop that belt of Bandido anyone in that
position of that idea.
Speaker 1 (06:29):
I don't think Bandido is gonna lose his mask.
Speaker 5 (06:32):
Yeah, I don't see it happening either.
Speaker 4 (06:34):
It's got to I mean I expected it to be
at the next R O H pay per view, But
and then again here we go with an R O
H title on a a W pay per view again.
Speaker 3 (06:45):
Go ahead, you know, what I want with.
Speaker 1 (06:47):
This, this particular one. I think this match with its stipulation,
makes it at least interesting.
Speaker 5 (06:53):
Yeah, it makes it interesting.
Speaker 4 (06:54):
But again, you know there, how long is it until
the next pay per view in r o H later
this month and it or next month?
Speaker 1 (07:01):
Yeah, I believe it's later late the month, GAB.
Speaker 4 (07:07):
So they're giving him three weeks to build something for
well you know what that'll be. It'll be it'll be
Bendido remastered against Jericho for the title again.
Speaker 1 (07:16):
So maybe if Bandida loses, Dynasty can get his mask
back at or whatever.
Speaker 5 (07:22):
You know, I think you're right about that.
Speaker 4 (07:24):
I think he's actually I don't see I don't see
Bendido losing his mask. I think he'll beat Jericho and
then they'll have the rematch again at Ring of Honor.
Speaker 1 (07:35):
So yeah, yeah, well either way it works out. Dane,
What's what's next on the agenda? What do you want
to talk about next?
Speaker 2 (07:45):
I mean this the show is stacked. I mean we
had the Brodie King Fletcher mask match. I know there
was a match before that as well.
Speaker 1 (07:52):
Well, there was right after after the Bandido and uh
Jericho thing was m JF went right in the MJ.
Speaker 2 (08:00):
Yeah, MVP uh not convinced. I believe MJF is doing
a heck in Bamboozolan. That's an MJF thing. I think
that m VP stables got him dead to rights. I
think that they're bringing in what's his face from WWE
as the fourth member. We didn't get that information until
the end of the program. We could loop back around
(08:21):
to that, but I think this is just another way
to build a feud with MGF, to you know, to
maybe give the dude some wins because he hasn't had
a lot of them lately.
Speaker 1 (08:31):
Well, what do you what are you saying though with MJF.
I mean, if they're building a feud with MGF, is
he going after Lashly, is he going after Benjamin? Or
is he going to get a partner and go after both?
Speaker 2 (08:43):
He'll work his way up. I mean, I couldn't imagine
that he's going to be partnering with anyone anytime soon,
unless he's forced to do it like he was last year.
I'lla Adam Cole and I don't think Tony Kahan will
ever pull the trigger on a story like that again
with the way that he ended it. So I think
this is gonna I think he's just gonna work his
way up the Hurt Syndicate two, and I think it's
(09:04):
gonna end with Bobby Bobby Lashley. You know, there's too
much going on with the tag team titles to think
that MJF is going to be involved with that right now.
I think they're going to keep the focal point on
MJF as a solos guy. You know, I think he's
gonna hold the aw World Championship again. I just don't
foresee it happening for at least a year.
Speaker 1 (09:21):
And of course we're gonna see Brian Keith and Big
Bill go after the Hurt Syndicate, Lashley and Benjamin for
those tag titles, so that that should be interesting.
Speaker 2 (09:33):
Yeah, it'll be a great Zuero our headliner.
Speaker 1 (09:35):
Yeah, big Bill made a strong case for why he
should get it get the title shot. So yeah, so
then we had then we had probably one of the
move I thought was, you know, because I've got a
I've got a complex where I'm a twelve year old
boy constantly. The funniest part of the show the Thunderstorm
(09:59):
back stage, where thunder Russa was interrupted and was referred
to as by Tony Storm that the partnership is no
longer Thunderstorm, It's thunder Tits, which I fell apart. I'm
just an amature idiot.
Speaker 2 (10:20):
Yeah, you know, I'm not gonna I'm not gonna take
the low hanging through it on this one. I think
that anytime you're gonna Tony Storm is one of those
talents that every time you put her behind a camera,
she's gonna utilize every single second to make an impact,
whether it is for humor or to be serious, or
to make a statement, or to incite violence or panic.
(10:42):
She just has a natural aptitude for it. So the
thundertol tits thing, you know, it's the same thing on
the shoe.
Speaker 1 (10:48):
Well, sane, do you think she does the same thing
in front of the camera instead of behind it too?
Speaker 2 (10:54):
H No, behind the camera. I was actually thinking about
Shubata later in the program.
Speaker 4 (10:59):
But.
Speaker 2 (11:00):
Yeah, I'm not on my a game tonight.
Speaker 1 (11:02):
Guys. If you couldn't tell, well, well you should have.
For people who are listening to this, it took me
a few minutes a few times to get the introduction
out of my craw so.
Speaker 2 (11:13):
Well a for effort. This will be our review show
of the year.
Speaker 1 (11:17):
Yeah, did you have something you to say.
Speaker 3 (11:21):
No, that was just like take four finally we got
it right now.
Speaker 1 (11:25):
Yeah, take four. Yeah, we it took us about twenty
minutes to get this thing going. Yeah yeah. But you know,
one of the things that you know struck me, honestly,
all kidding and joking aside, was that thunder Rosa literally
did say to thunder to Tony Storm, not Thunderstorm Tony Storm.
(11:45):
That Hey, I never lost that belt. It was taken
from me due to injury. I you know, so this
is something that I've been looking looking for.
Speaker 3 (11:56):
Yeah, You've mentioned that a lot, so, you know, and.
Speaker 1 (11:59):
If we get Mercedes and Athena at all in, thunder
Rosa against Tony Storm at all in would be just
as just as good.
Speaker 2 (12:12):
I mean, they're gonna have to if they're gonna do Mercedes,
Monet and Athena, they're gonna have to start working on
it this weekend. I would say one of them. I
would say the show was a good dynamite. It middling
in my opinion. They had an opportunity to do something
more with the women, and we got filler matches instead.
I get the Dante the Top Flight match, the Hometown
(12:34):
Heroes match, Squashing the local jobbers that we'll get to,
but like I don't know, Like I really wanted to
see something with Athena today and we didn't. You know,
my palette was not satiated here, so it is that's
just me being selfish, But like, you know.
Speaker 6 (12:48):
I wouldn't mind either go ahead something he's not coming
to she loses the belt. She made that clear plenty
of times, and I don't think she's gonna change just
because all the fans won are there. I don't think
he's losing until she loses the belt. She's not coming
to AW.
Speaker 4 (13:04):
I mean it's it's literally she if she loses the
belt at the next pay per view at the end
of April, then she'll come till then she is not
coming to a w.
Speaker 2 (13:14):
She's tagging, but she's tagging now, like now she's tagging
with Demante this week, like what he's dying? Like like
who are you? You know?
Speaker 4 (13:22):
Okay, we've talked about this before and it's the same
thing again. R H only has one thing going for
it right now, and that's Athena until he puts some Okay,
so Jericho loses the title and commander, but I mean
that's the title that. You know, everybody's happy about Commander
having that title, but it's not that important.
Speaker 5 (13:40):
Here's the thing.
Speaker 4 (13:41):
If Jericho loses to Bandido on at the pay per view,
he has a good chance that Bendido could take and
and run and do good things in r o H,
which would then relieve the pressure off of Athena. Everybody
loves Bandido, everybody's behind Bandido. You get a champion like
that on the men's side, you switch it. But again,
(14:04):
r O H needs Athena she I mean, I'd love
to see her come over too and beat the crap
out of money, but I just can't see it happening
until she loses that title.
Speaker 2 (14:14):
Yeah, sudden.
Speaker 7 (14:17):
Also, like what if they get a TV deal r
OH and like Athena would be great on TV seeing
that week after week.
Speaker 3 (14:26):
Also, like with Jericho as.
Speaker 7 (14:27):
The champion, you know a week after week that that
would bring some eyes to the product.
Speaker 5 (14:34):
Yeah, But for Jericho, he doesn't, he doesn't. He doesn't
go to r O H. No, I know, And that's
the problem. I mean, he Okay, they made.
Speaker 4 (14:43):
A big deal about Jericho having the title, and that
was supposed to help them get.
Speaker 5 (14:46):
The TV deal, But you can't get it if you
don't if your champion's not on your show.
Speaker 4 (14:52):
Yeah, you know what I mean, it don't make any sense,
no good.
Speaker 5 (14:56):
Question chain, Yeah, yeah, No.
Speaker 2 (14:59):
I more like it was more anecdotal, more like an observation.
It seems like the past couple Ring of Honor programs
have been very uh, Luchador inspired. They they they're they're
running a lot of really heavy, really high flying Luca matches.
I'm not saying that's a bad thing, but I feel like,
(15:20):
you know, that's sort of being absorbed into that product,
and it's kind of cool to see U. I Now,
in terms of the TV deal for ro OH, I
know we want to continue talking about Dynamite, but there
is rumors that, just to put this out into Eat
into the Ether, that they secured a deal with the
True TV and that's where you know ro Oh is
going to be broadcast. There's no confirmation of this, but
(15:42):
you know, Tony Kahan is terrible at keeping secrets, so
I would anticipate that this could potentially be a thing.
I would hope that they'd just Ring of Honor on
Max so I'd stop having to pay for Honor Club
as well. But I don't think we're going to get
that lucky.
Speaker 1 (15:58):
Yeah, we're going to see Ring of Tomorrow night. We're
gonna say Ring of Water. Start with the rumors are true,
t r u rs are true, coming soon and whatever.
But what do we want to tell? What do we
want to talk about next?
Speaker 2 (16:15):
Shane oh, God, Brodie King and uh and Kyle Fledger.
I want to I want to point out that this
match was fantastic. It was a great match. These guys
have great chemistry together. Why the hell is a Minecraft
movie endorsing a e W? I'm sorry, man, escape.
Speaker 3 (16:38):
You don't want to see the movie.
Speaker 2 (16:40):
This is all my tims do. This is all my
kids do is sit around and play Minecraft. I can't
escape it.
Speaker 5 (16:45):
Like it was.
Speaker 2 (16:46):
This is the one time of the week where I
want to sit down and be away from Minecraft, and
here it is. I got a creeper in the corner
of the screen blowing up the ae W, you know,
the like there's there was no I what about?
Speaker 1 (17:01):
What about the led panel that Rody King kept getting
slammed into?
Speaker 2 (17:05):
Is Minecraft completely Why is Jason Momoa front faced on
the on that ad? If the if Jack Black is
the lead character, like I don't understand anything they're doing
with this Minecraft movie or why it has anything to
do with a w You know.
Speaker 1 (17:24):
Yeah, obviously, Shane. I'm I'm gonna go on on a
limb here. I haven't looked it up, but I'm gonna
say that Warner Brothers Discovery is the producer or is
the studio that's putting out Minecraft. But I agree with you.
I mean before even I didn't even know there was
a Minecraft movie until tonight, and I was like, is
(17:47):
that that's? Is that Jason Momoa on that led screen?
Because the guy you played, Hagrid died, you know, I
was like, he looked more like Hagrid that he did
Jason Momoa. But look, I didn't know that there was
a Minecraft movie, and that Minecraft has been bugging me
all day long. I was playing a game earlier today
(18:10):
and somebody sent me an invite. Somebody invites you to
go play Minecraft with them. I was like, what the
hell is Minecraft? I don't play Minecraft.
Speaker 2 (18:21):
It's fun in survival mode. I'm not saying nothing else.
Let's get back to the rastlins. Minecraft is not a
terrible game, it's just not I just can't see the
connective tissue and I mean, like, if you're trying, I
think it could be an adults game. But again, you know,
if you're playing survival mode and you're a psychopathic I am,
(18:43):
But like what I the least they could have done
is drop some blocks in the ring and had them
hate each other with them. If they're gonna, you know,
if there's gonna draw a direct correlation between Minecraft and
aw let's let's get a Minecraft match going. You know,
let's let's make it real weird. You know, you know,
you got you got Steven smash. You can't have someone
(19:03):
dress up as the dude and come out with the
pickaxe and smack someone during Dynamite. Come on, it was
this opportunity, like a full m pick act. No, but
all in all, the match was solid. I kind of
have this thing about watching Brodie King work, you know,
and do the job, and and I don't I would
(19:26):
like to see him and Buddy Matthews take these tags.
I don't see it happening, But this dude has been
working his ass off for years and years and years
for this company, and I just he's on that list
of guys where I'm just like, I'd really like to
see him go the hell over as far as they
could take him, especially after all that stuff with them
breaking up the House of Black.
Speaker 5 (19:46):
You know, I thought it was a great match because
I like this. I was enjoying Brody beating the living
crap out of Kyle.
Speaker 2 (19:53):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (19:54):
Oh yeah, that was a great match.
Speaker 1 (19:56):
You also have to keep in mind Mile beat the
crap out of Brodie King too. I mean I was
legit scared at a couple of times where Brody King
took a bump and I was like, wow.
Speaker 2 (20:07):
That last one he took that brain buster saw us
that was not well.
Speaker 1 (20:14):
When he went face first or a back well, the
back of his head first into Jason Momoa. You know
that looks pretty bad.
Speaker 2 (20:20):
Too, only because he blocked out Jason Momoa, right, what
a beautiful man. Yeah, help him out. It hurts, It hurts. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (20:34):
You know, I want to say something here because this
is one of the instances that really stood out to me.
Speaker 5 (20:40):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (20:41):
The next match we had was Powerhouse Hobbs versus Mark Davis.
But the way that they introduced Hobbs into this match
coming out, you know, to basically say Brody King. You know,
it was just this entire show flowed really well. One
segment to the other. And even though one segment may
(21:04):
have looked random like what we saw at Chris Jericho
kind of berating the Bounty Hunter and Big Bill earlier,
to show it led into the next segment with MJF
and MVP, with Big Bill and the Bounty Hunter coming
out to have a stare down. I guess is the
best way to put it. With Lashley and Benjamin, Well,
(21:26):
this happened again. Powerhouse Hobbs came out say brody king boom.
We went right into the next match and this was
just a meat match. I don't think anybody expected Mark
Davis to win, but it was still it was a
good match. You know, it was short, you know, which
(21:46):
was good. And I don't know if you caught this,
but I don't know what happened. Maybe I missed something.
So like I said, I don't know what happened. But
Powerhouse Hobbs when he left you know, the ring and
went backstage, he looked like, ghit pissed off. That's something
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (22:03):
What didn't he like he kept looking over his right
shoulder like like he did look upset. I have to
to come. My only commentary on the match is the
match didn't start and end with one power slam a
Hobbs pin and then it was done and over with.
They actually had a match. They actually went out there
and wrestled. It was it was nice to see, you know,
(22:25):
Hobbs hit other moves, and it seemed nice to see
Mark Davis do his thing. That dude is a monster.
His work with Ousy opened in Japan as some of
the best tag work that you'll see in professional wrestling
in the past fifteen years. Him as an individual guy
is also a rock star. So I mean, all in
all that, I think I agree with you Kelson. I
think that the flow for this show was pretty solid.
(22:46):
I would say it was more disjointed towards the end
of the show, but we'll get there.
Speaker 1 (22:52):
Yeah. Well, one the other thing again with Powerhouse Hobbs,
when he went to the back, you could clearly see
Aubrey go back. I kind of could look at with
a concerned look on her face, like, what the hell
is going on here? I think that was legit heat Somewhere,
something happened that Hobbes was not happy with somebody.
Speaker 2 (23:12):
Yeah could and he's like supposedly like the nicest guy
in one of the nicest guys in the locker room.
Speaker 1 (23:17):
So exactly. That's why I kind of stood out.
Speaker 2 (23:21):
Yeah, I mean, unless unless he's like selling his ass
off as well, and we're getting some you know, some
good old fashioned nineteen eighties k fabe, it would be great.
Speaker 4 (23:34):
Yeah, the old stuff kind of looking kind of looking
for Hobbs to possibly become a hound hill how how yeah?
Speaker 5 (23:42):
How hell hound hell hound?
Speaker 1 (23:44):
That's right.
Speaker 4 (23:46):
Possibly teaming up with Brody and uh doing a net
faction possibly.
Speaker 2 (23:52):
That would be cool. That'd be pretty cool'd.
Speaker 5 (23:54):
Be yeah, that would be amazing.
Speaker 1 (24:01):
All right, Shane, Well, what do we want to talk
about next?
Speaker 2 (24:04):
Well, what do we got in the tubes? Next?
Speaker 1 (24:06):
Next?
Speaker 2 (24:06):
What do you get the ops? Katsi Yori Shibata grabbed
a camera and followed Samoa Joe and hook up a hallway.
Speaker 1 (24:15):
You you've skipped about five segments, but I guess we
could talk about that.
Speaker 2 (24:20):
Well what am I missing?
Speaker 1 (24:23):
Uh? Nick, Wayne Hangman, Adam Paige and swerve right at
FDR with Tony Shiavani uh and then of course we're
out in the ring with Moxley and then the ops happened.
But we could talk about the ops.
Speaker 2 (24:35):
We can work we can work our way up to
two though.
Speaker 1 (24:39):
I mean, the Nickueen thing.
Speaker 2 (24:40):
Really didn't do anything to grab me because it's kind
of obvious where this is headed. Even if he sticks
around with the Patriarchy, there's not enough meat in this
story to keep me engaged, which is probably why it's
I skipped over it. I mean, I'm I hate to
say it, but like the Patriarchy's kind of run. It's
it's kind of like it's it's done its thing. If
(25:02):
they're not gonna do anything explosive, I think it's time
to depart the faction and let these people do their
own thing.
Speaker 1 (25:10):
The only thread that was keeping the patriarchy really alive
was the you know, the the contract that that Christian
cage had, and that just you know, when ignored for
months and months and months, and then it was just like, oh, yeah,
I'm citing the contract and five seconds later he gets,
(25:33):
you know, gets yeah, yeah whatever. He lost this opportunity,
and I think the patriarchy has lost its opportunity as well.
Speaker 2 (25:45):
So about the Adam Copeland FTR thing, I'm sensing a
fake out. I think that they don't. I think I
think they take it to dynasty either they're gonna like
definitively grab these trios titles or they're gonna lose and
they're gonna split up FTR and Adam Copeland and FTR
(26:06):
is going back after the tag titles. I don't think
they're shifting the tag titles at Dynasty. I think that
Lash and Shelton are gonna hold them for a while.
Speaker 1 (26:16):
Is there a.
Speaker 3 (26:16):
Match on the Dynasty for the tag titles yet?
Speaker 4 (26:20):
Or Well, it's gonna end up being Big Bill And
you know that's what's gonna happen, because they're gonna get
a match either either Saturday or because they didn't say
anything about Saturday's matches for this week.
Speaker 2 (26:32):
Either they announced Top they announced Top Flight versus Big
Bill and Brian Keith.
Speaker 5 (26:38):
Oh did they Okay, well there's your match for that,
and they're going to win and then they're gonna get
the title shot at pay per view and you know
Big Bill and Brian Keith aren't winning.
Speaker 2 (26:48):
Yeah, yeah, which is you know this could be a
device to revitalize the tag team titles. This also can
be fumbled so epically that you're gonna drop up your
entire tag team division on its head and everyone's gonna
stop caring. You know that this is a very dangerous
game that they're playing with store continuity. Tony Kahan is
(27:11):
one of his greatest assets as a booker is that
he is has an aptitude for long term booking. But
I also think that that's one of his biggest flaws
because I think he gets lost in his own sauce.
And I think that there's a lot going on with
the tag titles, and I think they kind of just
need to pick a direction in head with it now
that we're throwing FT potentially FTR into the mix as well,
(27:33):
the prospect of the Young Bucks coming back. I mean,
I don't know, what do you guys think?
Speaker 3 (27:39):
Yeah, where has he the Young Bucks been? I kind
of wonder.
Speaker 1 (27:41):
Yeah, I think this is setting up a Young Bucks thing,
you know, I really do.
Speaker 2 (27:47):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (27:48):
Well, look, we did have Hangman, Adam Page and Swar
Strickland backstage talking about the old Hard Cup. Uh, but
then we had Strickland come out to the ring and
call out John Moxley. This did not work for me.
I'm sorry. Anything that the Death writers do just is
(28:10):
not working for me.
Speaker 2 (28:12):
Helson Swerve Strickland said it himself.
Speaker 1 (28:15):
Bro.
Speaker 2 (28:15):
He said when you're get to be done playing John
Moxley or being John Moxley playing John Moxley on television.
That's exactly what's happening. It's evident to it is so
evident to the fans that Tony was smart enough to
work it into the storytelling. Hopefully he drops that title
off of him and the death Writers are done. Maybe
that's the best thing that happens at Dynasty is that
(28:36):
they do the same thing. Yeah, they do the same
thing with the death Writers that they did the Callous
Family and just drop all of their titles off of them.
Let Willow beat the crap out of Marina shappeir and
they all split up.
Speaker 4 (28:50):
One of the things that disappointed me about this was
you had the phone call that Prince not on ad
to call, you know, he made a call to and
we assumed it wasn't Squeb. He was calling in some
backup and there was only Willow for backup. That I mean,
that's that's something to me that I think they're blowing
(29:10):
this completely because that would have made an amazing thing
to kind of set it on the right course, but
it just never materializing. You only have eleven days.
Speaker 1 (29:23):
Yeah, well you know, one thing that did come out
of this is that we're going to get a intergender
tag team match Worst Strickland Willow Nightingale against John Moxley
and Marina Shaffir. This will be Marina shaffer first match
and a w since Roosevelt was the president. I'm talking
to Teddy, not Franklin. You know, it's just, uh wow.
(29:48):
I don't understand why they have Marina Shaffir out on
TV every week and she's not doing anything other than
carrying a briefcase. And well, the one time she gave
mothers milk the I get what was it? Jay White?
I think that was special.
Speaker 2 (30:06):
You know what's in that briefcase? Colson? John Moxley's pren
up with Renee Piquette.
Speaker 1 (30:12):
There you go.
Speaker 2 (30:13):
Oh, I'm just saying. I mean, we see mox on
screen more with Marina Shaffir protecting her than he's protecting
his wife from all those mediocre interviews backstage to I
think Renee Piquette is fantastic, by the way, but I mean, yeah,
(30:36):
so now we can move on to the ops. Are
we finally at the air?
Speaker 1 (30:40):
We're at the ops.
Speaker 2 (30:43):
I thought this was my favorite segment of the evening
only because it was so absolutely off the wall. And
I love that they're torturing Max Caster right now. I
like that Max Caster is wearing the HBO Max Seawn
Michael's pants. It just makes it look so much you're
more compelling to watch him get shown out. And I
thought it was humorous that Samoa Joe just choked him
(31:04):
off for the fun of it and then like turned
around to the top plane and was like, what up, dog
are you guys doing? Welcome home, bro?
Speaker 1 (31:09):
Like that.
Speaker 2 (31:11):
That was hilarious. It was genuinely good to It was
good heartwarming television. Who's got thoughts on that?
Speaker 1 (31:19):
I got the impression that Samoa Joe, just looking at
his facial expressions, knew that this was batshit crazy and stupid,
and he just went with it. And his expression was
one of such like this is batchit crazy and stupid,
and I'm just going to go with it. I mean
(31:39):
that's literally he looked like he was having fun with
it at one to some extent and was over it
at the same time, like he didn't want to be there.
That's the impression I got. I didn't think Samoa Joe
was one hundred percent this for some reason. He just
didn't seem like he was. I think he's not having
(32:01):
a good time put it that way. Maybe I'm wrong,
but I just got that impression.
Speaker 2 (32:07):
I actually agree with you, Kelson. But in spite of that,
you know, he sold the hell out of it, you know,
jose Ah professional. You know, sometimes you got to do
the silly, goofy wrestling stuff to get the more serious
stuff over. And I think that's what's going to be
happening with the OPS moving forward. I think they're a
more compelling contender for the Trios Championships than Rated FTR,
(32:28):
and I would prefer to see the belts on them
because at least they'd hold them with some distinguishable honor
and not have it feel so imposed. Putting those belts
on Rated FTR makes those belts look like a cracker
Jack prize, Like at the bottom of the box, after
you're done eating all the sugar coated nuts, you get
that little sticker. It's like, oh, thanks, I don't want. Like,
(32:49):
if you're going to do something with Adam Copeland, he
needs to either be separated from FTR, back with Christian
and headed towards tag team titles or doing a victory
lap with the World Championship if it if it like
like that, that's it. Like the dude has what two
years of wrestling left? Like if yeah, Like.
Speaker 1 (33:10):
I don't like.
Speaker 4 (33:11):
I don't think they're going to get the tag title,
the trios titles. I think I f TR is going
to turn on good. They're gonna walk out, They're gonna
go out for the match, They're going to start the match,
it's gonna go look like they're going to be doing something,
and then they're just gonna walk out on him.
Speaker 1 (33:25):
Christians to come in and make the save.
Speaker 2 (33:28):
That could be Christian and kill Switch could be could
that could be cool to hell? But then you got
another trio and a pointless faction you know, do the
edgend Christian thing? Man Like? If that don't those.
Speaker 5 (33:41):
Which is going to be involved?
Speaker 4 (33:42):
I think it's I think when Killswitch comes back, he's
coming back with Jungle Boy.
Speaker 2 (33:48):
That'd be great.
Speaker 1 (33:48):
I hope so too. I really do. Well, you know
I get the honor of introducing Well, I'm just gonna
go ahead and just introduce the next two segments, the
first segment being Jay White saying that he is going
to participate in the owen Hart Cup, which I already
thought he did, So that wasn't very special to me
because I mentioned it last night Jay Whites with the
(34:09):
Owen Art Cup, Well now he made it official. Wow.
And then we had Minnesota's own top Flight take on
a couple of jobbers and win. But it did set
up a match with Big Bill and the Bounty Hunter
Brian Keith, which it was necessary for them to win,
(34:31):
meaning Big Bill of Brian Hunter, a Brian Hunter, Brian Keith.
Brian Hunter was the first basement from the Fruity Atlanta
Brays back in nineteen ninety five. That's where my mind
went just then. So that made sense because that tag
team match will then set up. Obviously it's going to
be Big Bill and the Bounty Hunter winning and setting
(34:54):
up the match likely at Dynasty between those guys and
the Hurt Syndicate.
Speaker 2 (35:02):
Man, can you imagine though, that they actually take those
belts off the Hurt Syndicate and Tony Kahan actually takes
some liberties with storytelling. I would love to see. I
would love to see gold around Big Bill's waist, large
Williams large waist, like I think he's fantastic.
Speaker 1 (35:21):
I was waiting for Big Bill to say Ricky Starks by.
Speaker 3 (35:23):
Name, and yeah, yeah, but he didn't.
Speaker 1 (35:27):
He said, I my partner screwed up and I didn't
get pinned, you know, basically. So I thought that was interesting.
We may as well talk while we're talking about the
Hurt Syndicate, we skip ahead a little bit, we'll go
back to the other matches. But we did have the
Hurt Syndicate in the back talking about MJF, you know,
and that was interesting. I think that the MVP is
(35:49):
kind of playing businessman and he's gonna screw over MJF.
Speaker 4 (35:57):
I don't know who's the I've kind of got the
feeling that they're going to actually MJF and m are
actually working together already. I think he's going to join
him for a little while and it's going to run
with that for a bit.
Speaker 1 (36:09):
Well, there have been rubblings on the internet from people,
you know, the Dirt Sheets specifically, but they don't get
it one hundred percent wrong one at a time, Uh,
that MGF is going to be starting a new faction,
maybe revisiting or revitalizing an old one.
Speaker 4 (36:30):
Yeah, I saw that too, But also just before the
show saw one saying that I don't remember who was
from I kind of just was glancing through real quick
that he's not going to bring back the old one
from was it?
Speaker 2 (36:42):
Uh?
Speaker 5 (36:43):
Which one was that in?
Speaker 1 (36:44):
It was the.
Speaker 5 (36:47):
Was I can't remember.
Speaker 2 (36:51):
Eaton page Wardlow yeh yeah, stokey, stokely Hathaway.
Speaker 4 (36:55):
Yeah, because no, no, no, no, no no, the one from
m was it MLW when he was in.
Speaker 2 (37:00):
With Seawan Spears. Uh, Ricky was involved Sean Spears FTR
and Ricky was involved with that as well.
Speaker 4 (37:07):
There was another one that he had with the dude
it looked like a miniature.
Speaker 1 (37:12):
God trying to say something legible.
Speaker 5 (37:17):
There was there was a group that he was in
before he came to a W.
Speaker 4 (37:21):
It was in a It was in a I wouldn't
I wouldn't call him exactly a indie, but it was
one of those like m L M l W or
one of those. And he was in with I can't
think I don't know him because I don't watch it.
I just happened to see it a couple of times,
but he was there. There were there were four guys.
The one was the He kind of looked like Sid,
(37:42):
a shorter Sid.
Speaker 2 (37:44):
Yeah, you're you're so you're talking about Alexander Hammerstone. You're
talking about the dynasty. Yeah, dynasty and Teddy Hart was
involved with that as well. Everything he's coming back to
professional wrestling, you know what it's you put.
Speaker 5 (38:00):
It past him him on.
Speaker 4 (38:03):
But yeah, there there's been a reporter that was the
one he was going to bring to a w and
then I saw one to day right before that that
said that there was no way that was going to happen.
But it was like real quick and I didn't get
a chance to read through much of it. But yeah,
so there's all kinds of rumors going on about MGF
right now in a in a new group.
Speaker 2 (38:25):
Yeah, Hammerstone is currently working with w w E and
t n A uh I, I don't see that happening.
So yeah, it was fun. So they had they had
a pretty cool beef with Joey Janella.
Speaker 1 (38:45):
That all right, Well, Shane, what do you what match
do you want to talk about next? Well?
Speaker 2 (38:51):
What do we got? What do we got left in
the tubes?
Speaker 1 (38:53):
We got Mark Brisco and on a suit a.
Speaker 2 (39:00):
Kenoski Takaha. Take, I'm not gonna be that guy. The
d m j F. You mean the future of professional wrestling.
One of the greatest professional wrestlers on Earth currently Testa
and Mark Brisco one of the hardest war yeah he has.
He looks like a Final Fantasy Final Boss.
Speaker 1 (39:22):
Yeah, like and them all on his nose, like constantly
every time he's on TV. I want to walk walk
out to my TV and scratch them all off his
nose because I think there's a I think there's a fly.
I always think there's a fly on my TV. That's
just weird. But anyway, I neither hear.
Speaker 2 (39:40):
Isn't Mark Brisco such a fantastic showman. Even when you
know he's about to go out there and do that
j O B, He's still out there doing his thing,
you know. All in all, you know, we were spoiled
by a W in terms of quality of matches on
a regular basis. Even if the stories are contrived there
don't make sense, we're still getting killer matches. And that's
(40:01):
exactly what we got out of these guys. Don Kallis family.
You know, they they they need a lot of w's
because they didn't really have a great last pay per
view and they're not carrying no gold no more.
Speaker 1 (40:13):
So Yeah, you know, they got they got their wins tonight,
Mark Briscoe. Is there anybody at a w the look
does that looks like they're having more fun losing than
Mark brisco I mean, he goes out there and he
gets just a craps beat out of him and loses
practically every match, and yet he's he's just out there
(40:35):
just spreading the joy way, do you know? Yeah, you know,
So let's get to the main event. Before we get
to the main event, I wanted to make just a
few comments here. First we had this show was from
Saint Paul, Minnesota, which is, you know, a stone strow
(40:57):
away from Bloomington, Minnesota's which is where Julia Hart is from.
I was kind of shocked that Julia Hart was not
on the show tonight, when actually she was. She did
wrestle at Dark Match and she defeated Robin Renegade before
the show, so she did get to go out in
her hometown and have a match. I guess they just
(41:19):
felt like having top flight versus the jobbers, you know,
and whatever, was more important than Nick Wayne posturing backstage,
was more important than having the hometown girl go out
there and have her get her flowers. But one of
the things that I wanted to talk about was. The
main event was thunder Tits against Megan Bain and Penelope Ford.
(41:44):
But this was interesting, and this just the fact that
I wanted to bring up last year twenty twenty four
AW Dynamite. In the fifty two weeks of AIW Dynamite
in twenty twenty four, three times women main evented. In
all of twenty twenty four, three times women main evented.
(42:10):
It's twenty twenty five. Now we're not even through March,
and this was the third time already at the women
main evented AW Dynamite. We had Mercedes Monet earlier in
the year against Yukaza Kazaki. Last week we had Meghan
Baine against Chris Statlander, and this week we had thunder
Rosa and Tony Storm against Meghan Baine and Penelope Ford.
(42:36):
That's the other thing. Not only do we have back
to back weeks with women's main events, Megan Bane main
evented both weeks. How is that for a push? The
last time that happened? Where to sit where we had
back to back women's main events and we had the
(42:56):
same woman main event both weeks. I believe it was
twenty twenty two Karusheeda wrestled Tony Storm one week and
the next week in the main event, wrestled thunder rosef
I'm not mistaken, and back to back weeks, but those
are both title matches. These two main events had no
(43:17):
titles attached to them. I think that's something. I think
that's good booking, I really do. I've set up before, Shane,
and I'll say it again, not every match has to
have title implications. Sure, this one kind of did, but
because you had the challenger to champion, that's already been
(43:38):
set up for Dynasty facing each other, even though it
was a attag team. But last week's match Mega Bane
and Chris Statlander had no title implications and yet it
main evented. I thought that was wonderful.
Speaker 2 (43:51):
Yeah. No, nothing like a good old fashioned blood feud,
right especially at the end of a program. Kelson, I
couldn't agree with you more. The way that they're front
facing the women's vision right now, utilizing their best talent
is uh, it's all inspiring, especially to women's just like
women's wrestling as a whole, and it's it's something I'd
like to continue to see out of AEW that we're
(44:12):
getting more, you know, like headlining women's matches, you know,
I would be as so bold as to say, you know,
maybe at the last pay per view we could have
gotten Tony Storm and Mariah May as the head that
was That's one of the I will argue with anyone
about that problem that be arguably might have been one
(44:35):
of the best feuds in the history of women's professional wrestling.
And I'm putting that up against like Bull Nakano, I'm
put I mean, I'm putting that up against like ruthless
aggression era, you know, like old lead to stuff like
like that. Just the way that that was scripted was
absolute cinema. Now let's get to the match itself. So
(44:56):
the match, it's like it seemed that Thunderosa was as
per usual, and I'm just making from an observational standpoint,
was working a little stiff. You know, she certainly has
a little ring rust on her, you know, being that
she's not consistently working. But she did look good. You know,
Megan Bain went out there and wrecked. Penelope Ford went
(45:17):
out there and wrecked. I don't know why they have
forced Penelope Forward to job out so often, because she
definitely just like Anna j like like Tamello. You know,
these are women that are like so gifted, there's such
gifted professional wrestlers. I really feel like they should be
in the world title conversation. But Megan Bain specifically went
(45:40):
out there and worked and it was very it was
very compelling to see her pin Tony Storm at the
end of that match. I don't think that has implications
for the pay per view. I think Tony Storm retains,
but it definitely cements Megan Baine as a contender.
Speaker 1 (45:54):
Yeah, you know what, because it's not an afterthought having
Megan Bain out there. She was put in back to
back weeks and the main event of aw Dynamite, and
after I thought would be okay, let's have her out
there and give her two or three because look, Tony
Kahn has been guilty of this before. Whenever he had
a contender for Jade Cargill. I'm going to talk about
Jay Cargill specifically here. Whenever he had a contender for
(46:17):
Jake Cargill for a title defense on a pay per view,
they would brought out somebody, give them two or three wins,
then go to the pay per view and get destroyed
in five minutes. This isn't gonna happen with Meghan Bain. Yeah,
I don't believe that Megan Bain is going to win
this match, but she's not going to get the snot
(46:39):
beat out of her in five minutes. And I really, really,
really do believe with all the matches that are out
there right now, Megan ban and Tony Storm could be
the main event of Dynasty.
Speaker 2 (46:52):
We could only be so lucky. I mean, every match
you're going to put Tony Storm in is going to
be a cinematic masterpiece. And that's not just because she
is timeless, No, it's because she really is that she.
I don't want to use this term, and you're welcome
to cut this for me saying it, but she really
is that bitch. She is that woman. She says it
(47:13):
herself to.
Speaker 1 (47:14):
Be fair, The tramp is a champ.
Speaker 2 (47:16):
Come on, yeah, Like she she really is that bitch.
And I really believe that she is setting the precedent
for women's wrestling across the entire spectrum. And I think
that every promotion on Earth should be taking notes. They
should be washed like.
Speaker 1 (47:32):
You know, yeah, for sure, I don't think. I don't
think she sees it that bitch because I think Jake
Cargo has the trademark for that.
Speaker 2 (47:41):
Yeah, well that would mean yeah, yeah, but one of
those bitches can actually wrestle, So.
Speaker 4 (47:49):
Yeah, but I saw a wrong with this match tonight
was Tony. She didn't look good in the beginning of
the match. She purposely was getting the crap kicked out
of her, and it just didn't it just didn't seem
like Tony Well, I mean yeah, I literally.
Speaker 2 (48:05):
I think the story that they were building was that,
like thunder Rosa was like Thunderosa has the history of
San Begas, Sam begging and a w I would not
put it past Tony to play cad into that for
the match too. So like next week we'll get, you know,
a vignier of the two of them bickering about who
(48:27):
threw the match and why she was pinned and you
know that never happens, and you know, and then thunder
Rosa automatically has Steak in, you know, you know, maybe
it's a triple thread now or maybe you know they're
gonna throw her in the mix somehow for this championship match.
You know, it's a food. I could hear Taz right now.
It's official. The thunder Rosa considered confirmed as the third
(48:50):
contender for you know, the women's tunnel match at Dynasty
next week. You know that's.
Speaker 4 (48:56):
See that being I see that being said up for
the next paper you after it. It's just so weird
to watch Tony come out and just be like going
at half speed for the first half of the match,
and then later on he looked better. But it's just
to me, that just didn't look right to have Tony,
to have Tony be in there like that, it just
was odd.
Speaker 1 (49:17):
We Well, Sun, you don't have to keep it in consideration,
take it the consideration that the whole story really behind
this was this is the first time that Tony Storm
and Megan Baine had been in a match against each other,
and Tony Storm was looking at Megan Bain like she
was a goddess from a goddess from Mount Olyppus, Pennsylvania.
Speaker 4 (49:39):
And I agree at the end when she got into
the corner, but I'm talking against Penelope. When she was
wrestling against Penelope, she was taking a beating and it
just didn't look right.
Speaker 5 (49:49):
Just I mean, that's my thing.
Speaker 4 (49:51):
But and I get, yeah, Penelope is on a better
level than she was before, but when you have your
champion in there going against somebody, they're going to said
the next pay per view, you don't want to make
them look like they don't belong in the ring, and
to me, that's what it looked like for the first
half of the match.
Speaker 1 (50:08):
Yeah, I do what you're saying. Go ahead, Shane.
Speaker 2 (50:11):
I'm sorry, No, I mean, I mean, yeah, I also
get what you're saying, because then you're gonna get more
feuds than AW that start to look like the bloodline
for women, right.
Speaker 8 (50:20):
So, I mean, if she would have if she would
have gotten beat down, I get the fact that she
was getting beat up by Megan, but she young faced
Megan til the end, really in the whole thing. But
when she came when Penelope, when she came to against
Penelope the first time, she didn't hit one move on
her and was back over in the corner, and she
just got like, it's just like, that's the champion.
Speaker 4 (50:40):
If I'm the first time, what's you're going she's the champ.
I'm thinking, Wow, this is really messed up.
Speaker 1 (50:45):
Well, Well, look, Shane, I mean one of the ways
you could also look at it as this penelop before
it is one of the best workers at AW right now,
and she has been in the past before as well,
of course she was out with the jury personal issues,
but that's neither here nor there. Penalty Forward is consistently
(51:05):
fantastic in the ring every week, and I really really
do believe that Tony Storm and thought de Rosa probably
talked to Meghan Bain and specifically Penelope be Forard, and said, hey, look,
we got to put you over, We got to make
you look like, hey, you could hold your own against
two former champions or a current champion and former champion
(51:28):
uh in the aw women's division. And that's exactly what
they did. Megan, Megan, Meghan Bain is obviously you know,
got a championship match at Dynasty. What they did to
Night is shown the penelopey Ford could also be given
a future championship match and be viable. I agree.
Speaker 2 (51:48):
I agree with both of your points, guys, I really do.
But you know, just to kind of echo off of Sutton,
why would you have to pair her if she is
such a great worker, Why would you need someone as
someone like Meghan Bain to help you go over? Why
wouldn't Tony, Like two months ago we had complained on
another Dynamite review that Penel be Ford it looks like
(52:11):
she was having a come up, and so then they
squashed her like in the middle of the Dynamite program,
and that was a big deal. Like, so she's still
doing the job right now, Like, if she's so good, dude,
just toss her a bone.
Speaker 1 (52:25):
That's what I'm saying they did tonight. Look, the whole
point of tonight's main event was for Meghan Bain to
get a pin on Tony Storm, to put that slight
set of doubt that hey, maybe Megan ban can beat
Tony Storm at Dynasty, which I could go out on
a limb and say, most people don't think that's gonna happen.
(52:47):
But what happened tonight was even though the ultimate purpose
of the match was the Megan Bane pin up Tony Storm,
the subplot, the subco text of the match was, hey,
we've got to make it look like peneloty Ford is
it just out there as you know, a supporting actress,
(53:10):
and she's got to be out there exactly. They made
her look good. And that's on Tony Storm, and that's
on thunder Ros, and of course it's on penelty Ford
as well. Penelta Ford deserve to get her flowers since
she got her Flowers tonight, and I think that what
they did was make again. Remember remember this has long
(53:32):
term implications. We know that what we suspect that there's
gonna be women tag teams title belts coming soon. By
Megan Bain and Penelope Ford winning this match night and
looking good doing it against the current champion and a
(53:53):
former champion, they are now a viable tag team. Doesn't
even really matter what happens at the pay per view
Beach making being a Tony Storm. You know this is
long this long term storytelling.
Speaker 4 (54:05):
I get what you're saying, Kelson, but here's the thing.
When it comes to Tony Storm, she doesn't have to
look bad to make people look good. That's the difference
she to me. To me, in the first half of
the match, she did not look like the champion. She
didn't look like she should even be in the ring
with those girls, all three of the people.
Speaker 1 (54:24):
This is a wrestling thing, though, sudden. Look, it passed
when you and I were a young man, and you
know we were you know, we had that oomph to us.
There was a wrestler that got the snop beat out
of him every single time he was in the ring,
(54:44):
and that he would just start doing a hand gesture
and he would get to his feed and win the match.
And that was Haulkogan. That's the way I look at it,
I mean, but what I'm saying is is that it's
a wrestling thing. I mean, this match was made for
(55:05):
Tony Storm to take the pin. Nobody else they had.
They had to make Tony Storm look weak in order
to make the Dynasty match look like it could possibly
go Meghan Bain's way, That's what I'm saying.
Speaker 5 (55:24):
But here's the thing that I'm saying.
Speaker 4 (55:26):
Megan Baine would have looked stronger had she beat Tony
Storm at her best instead of beating her at a
at a lower level.
Speaker 5 (55:34):
That's what it looked like to me. She was at
a lower level than she normally.
Speaker 1 (55:37):
Makes sense, Yeah, But what I'm saying also is that
Tony Storm was at her best when she got beat.
She hit Megan Bain with a hip attack and Megan
Bain got right to her feet, and the expression on
Tony Storm's face was a whole Cogan expression. I'm sorry
to use that analogy, but it's the truth. I mean,
(55:59):
Tony Storm had had to make it look like Megan
Bane could beat her and Tony Storm had to make
herself look for lack of better words, had to look
bad at times to do it. She had to look scared,
she had to look out of her element she had.
That's the way that that match had to go. If
(56:21):
Tony Storm had been Storm and not affected by the
size and strength of Megan Bane at all, and still
you know, lost that match, then it would have been like, Okay, well,
Tony Storm is gonna get killed at Dynasty, and if
she pulls out the win, it's gonna look ridiculous. Tonight
(56:46):
was I understand what you're saying, but I do think
tonight was done correctly where it made Tony Storm look
look vulnerable going into Dynasty. That's that. That was the
whole point of this match, to make her look for
And you can't make somebody look vulnerable when they're looking strong.
You can't do it. You can't be strong and vulnerable,
(57:07):
not in a wrestling ring.
Speaker 2 (57:12):
Yeah, I'm a fantasy book this one right quick, just
to kind of, you know, throw throw a loop for this.
What if we actually get Megan Bain dropping this title
off of her and uh, Tony Storm goes on another
tangent and we have the potential for another Tony Storm character.
Speaker 4 (57:31):
I think doing that that that's too much of the
same thing over again in a very short time.
Speaker 2 (57:39):
People love to digest that, especially in professional wrestling. They
put over, they put over four Mick Foley's in the
same royal rumble dude, Like, it's it's possible to see
something like that. And you hear me say this all
the time. I mean, like, I don't really see an
issue with them popcorning belts. You know, as long as
(58:02):
they end up on the right people. That's not something
that we see a lot in aw you know, And
for that fact, I.
Speaker 4 (58:09):
Don't see it happening because I just don't see I
get what you're saying. That would be an awesome thing
to see, but we know better than that because Tony
just doesn't do it.
Speaker 5 (58:18):
Yeah, I.
Speaker 1 (58:21):
Agree with both of you guys. You know, su Tony
doesn't do it. I mean, that's back, but it's time
that he does. I've said before, I'll see it again.
I don't like long title reigns, and I like when
titles change hands, especially when it's unexpectedly changing hands where
nobody saw it coming and it's not predictable. Megan Bain
(58:45):
winning this title would be an unpredictable win, even though
they're building her up like some kind of monster. Again,
I'd be shocked if we took a poll today and
asked a thousand people, a thousand AAW fans, how many
of you think that Megan Bain is going to win
this match at Dynasty, I'd be surprised. At the bottom.
One thousand and fifty people said that Megan Bain was
(59:07):
gonna win. But if Megan bin does win, that sets
up the prospect of, hey, if Meghan Bay can win,
maybe Sir Pecico can beat John Boxley for the AW
you know, world Championship. You know what I'm saying. It's
just when you do something unexpected, then it opens up
(59:29):
doors for for an action Andrettie Chris Jericho kind of thing.
Speaker 2 (59:37):
Yeah, I mean that was one of last year's greatest
Two years ago the greatest moments. People were literally screaming
you could hear yeah, I get still hear the echoes,
let's go job Or didn't even know his name, Oh
yeah yeah, and he's still on TV gracing our presence
with this high flying water bottle drink chugging antics.
Speaker 5 (59:57):
So it would definitely be a change.
Speaker 4 (01:00:00):
That would be amazing for ae W and I would
love to see it happen.
Speaker 5 (01:00:04):
But stubborn, I just you know what I mean.
Speaker 1 (01:00:10):
I mean, I mean history is history, suddon. I mean,
we know that Tony is stubborn, but maybe he's you know,
people change. I mean, I used to have hair. Now
I don't you know it's people change. Here we go. Actually,
(01:00:32):
it was a bizarre electrolysis accident, so.
Speaker 2 (01:00:37):
He got what is what is that a particle you
get stuck in a the Doctor Manhattan machine?
Speaker 1 (01:00:45):
Yeah like that.
Speaker 2 (01:00:51):
Let's let's let's rate the show, guys. Let's I'm curious
to see what you guys think. I know we typically
end the show moving through the panel one out of five.
What do you guys think of the show? Thumbs up,
thumbs down. I don't care how you guys want to
rate it. I'll start it off. I'll give the show
a solid three point five out of five. That's that's
that's my rating.
Speaker 3 (01:01:14):
I'm gonna do a Helston grading, say B minus.
Speaker 1 (01:01:23):
Okay, that's fair. Three okay, So we got a three
point five of three and a B minus. I'm gonna
go with my own rating scale, and I'm gonna give
it a B. I thought it was a little bit
better to to B minus, but not quite an A
or an A minus.
Speaker 2 (01:01:40):
It's like this, The show kind of felt like, for
lack of better terminology, that they were copying off of
someone else's test that didn't know what the hell they
were doing for like a very in spite of the
fact that the show flowed fantastically, I do believe that
there were some missteps in terms of Cotton, and I
(01:02:02):
hope that they're not baiting and switching us out for
the pay per view.
Speaker 1 (01:02:06):
I'm going to say something. Maybe you guys will agree
with me, maybe you'll just think I'm crazy, but tonight's
show felt like the go home show before Dynasty.
Speaker 3 (01:02:16):
Oh you're crazy?
Speaker 2 (01:02:18):
Yeah, No, I I would agree with.
Speaker 4 (01:02:22):
I would agree with that, except for the fact that
we don't have enough matches and know exactly everything that's
going on for Dynasty yet. I mean, if we had
a full fleshed out card, or at least ninety percent,
then I would say, yep, you're right, But it's there's
just so much that's still open and here we go
again with one of these We got a pay per
view coming up in eleven days and we don't know
what the hell is going on.
Speaker 1 (01:02:43):
Yeah, there's not that many matches.
Speaker 4 (01:02:45):
And unfortunately, to me, since before the last pay per view,
they were on a roll, they were hot as hell,
and since the last pay per view, they went right
back to what they were before.
Speaker 2 (01:02:57):
Well wait a minute, though, just to give AW credit,
were credits to do. A lot of times when we
get these types of cards, the pay per views end
up being absolute bangers and we get a lot of
moments with storytelling. So let's not Oh, I'm.
Speaker 4 (01:03:12):
Not saying, yeah, I'm not saying the pay per view
is going to be bad. I'm just saying they were.
They were in a position before the last pay per
view where they were building things up and giving them
all time. And now we're back, we've reverted back to
before that where we're building pay per views.
Speaker 5 (01:03:31):
In eleven days instead of the three weeks they had.
Speaker 4 (01:03:35):
Just that's just you know what I mean, And that's
they're going three steps forwards and five steps back.
Speaker 3 (01:03:41):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:03:43):
I do agree that, you know, AW needs to make
pay per view matches at least two weeks before a
pay per view.
Speaker 2 (01:03:51):
You know, it.
Speaker 1 (01:03:53):
Is what it is.
Speaker 2 (01:03:56):
We're here, you know we're along for the ride, you know,
one way or another, all spending the fifty bucks for
the pay per view and we'll be talking about it
Tuesday after that onition.
Speaker 1 (01:04:07):
And loving it because AW doesn't put on bad pay
per views except for except for Forbidden Door.
Speaker 2 (01:04:15):
Right, get out of here for indoor rules am Forbidden Door?
Speaker 3 (01:04:19):
Still love the first one.
Speaker 1 (01:04:21):
It's one of the best indie pay per views that
that they can put out.
Speaker 2 (01:04:25):
That's hurts my soul every time. Yeah, what a great
way to.
Speaker 1 (01:04:37):
Yeah, well, you know, I'm gonna be honest with you.
I'm looking. I'm looking at for Bridden Door with dread
because it's AW Spiller season and that's where ad W
loses momentum every year. All this stuff that they've been
doing is this is going to go right down the
toilet with Forbidden Door. They should just treat it as
(01:04:57):
an exhibition show and not worry about up building stories.
Just throw them out there and just continue doing a
w stuff until the because I don't think any story
is making people buy the pay per view.
Speaker 2 (01:05:14):
They announced, they announced the women's titles. They are to
be crowned at Forbidden Dorm. They put the belts on
Mina and Mariah May.
Speaker 1 (01:05:24):
First, I don't understand what you just said at all.
What he's saying.
Speaker 5 (01:05:32):
He's saying that they announce the women's tag titles and
Forbidden Doors when they're going to be crowned, and it's
gonna be Mina and.
Speaker 1 (01:05:42):
Yeah, Mariah, I'm gonna be honest with you. I'm going
to be honest with you. I bought Forbidden Door three
and the only reason I bought Forbidden Door three is
because I wanted to see Tony Storm and Mariah Mina
year at Kyle's match. Everything else was ship in that
entire pay per view didn't enjoy. Second, I'd be fifty
(01:06:04):
dollars to watch Mina, shir Kyle and Tony Storm, And
if it was that particular thing, I would probably just
do it again. But I wouldn't waste my time watching
any of it until it got to that point. You know,
there's so much it was just boring to me. For
Bid Door, for Bid Door three was horrible.
Speaker 2 (01:06:23):
Yeah, there is so much going on in Japan right now,
for I mean in terms of like the pro wrestling
landscape that's leaked over into America, especially with Windy City
Riot around the corner. I do believe that this is
the comeback here for Forbidden Door or its final year,
being that this is Tanahashi's final year as a professional wrestler,
(01:06:44):
him being the person that coined Forbidden Door. I think
it could evolve into something else. We'll see, you know,
but obviously that's a conversation for a later podcast.
Speaker 1 (01:06:54):
Right. Yeah, well, you know, I will say this about
Forbidden Door this year. I truly believe that at order
for Forbidden Door this year to be successful, it needs
more stardom.
Speaker 2 (01:07:08):
Yeah, I Kelson, I couldn't agree with that statement more.
Speaker 1 (01:07:11):
Because New Japan just doesn't have the star power to
come over that wants to come over here. I mean,
they're already here, yeah, I'm but even the people that
aren't here, look at Bull Club, war Dogs and whatnot,
they don't come over for Forbidden Door, and.
Speaker 2 (01:07:31):
They should being that not.
Speaker 4 (01:07:35):
Well, here's the thing I gotta say about that, though,
I think that's the New Japan protecting them from knowing
what's going to happen when they come over. They know
if they come over, they're gonna lose. Yeah, so why
would you send your top people over? I'm going I'm
gonna say this in order to keep things even keeled.
Speaker 1 (01:07:58):
For Forbidden Door. No titles up or grabs a Forbidden Door.
None that way. That way somebody loses. They just lose
a match. You know, if an AW guy has a title,
they're not going to lose it a Forbidden Door. So
it is what it is. But look, you know we
(01:08:19):
will probably talk about Forbidden Door. God help us when
we get closer Forbidden Door, which is in like three months.
So I'm just honest to God, I'm just dress. I'm
looking at these AW shows in twenty twenty five at
how good they've been production wise, story wise, and that
(01:08:41):
Forbid Door is looming, and I'm like, oh no, all
this work that they've been doing is gonna get flushed
right down the toilet. And that's the way I look
at Forbidden Door. Anyway, that's our show for tonight. Thank
you for listening to all the talk. We'll be back
on Tuesday night to talk about some of the w
hot topics on AW fan hubbs Ignition podcast at eight

Miss you.
Speaker 1 (01:09:49):
Of course I am talking about Eddie from Iron Maiden,
not Eddie Kingston.
Speaker 2 (01:09:55):
God I love Iron Maiden.
Speaker 1 (01:09:58):
I love Eddie Kingston.
