Speaker 1 (00:06):
It's Wednesday. You know what that means. It's time for
all the talk with the aw fat podcasting. This is
Kelson and I'm here with Suck and we're going to
talk about some of the things that happened tonight on
a W dynamite Suton. I think we've got to start
with Tony Kahn's big announcement. What did you think, buddy awesome?

Speaker 2 (00:27):
I was I kind of when I heard he was
gonna make one on Saturday, I think is when he
talked about it first. I kind of had a figure
feeling that's what it was. I mean, we've been We've
been talking about this for what a year or more
since like January of last year.

Speaker 1 (00:41):
Personally, I've been talking about it for like three years now.

Speaker 2 (00:45):
Yeah, And and uh, we had we had kind of
had a break the breaking news of it because Nett
heard through somebody she met said that they were making
the titles. So we kind of knew it was coming.

Speaker 1 (00:58):
But we knew it was coming, Yeah, I think it
a long time ago. Yeah that that uh that love
Uh one of our podcasters uh knew that the titles
were being made well before anything was even reported, and
uh yeah, So and then a couple. I would say

(01:18):
about three months later that everybody else said, oh, the
titles are being made. Yeah, at the titles. I'm telling
you they look great. Those are beauty like the Yeah,
I think I looked a little bit like it kind
of looked like the TBS title. Uh color color scheme,
you know what I mean.

Speaker 2 (01:35):
You want to you don't want to look like the
men's titles, So I kind of I'm kind of glad
they kind of looked the same that way, because it
gives you that defining this is for the this is
the women's titles, These are not for the these are
you know, you can separate in that way, because there's
some of these titles in other companies that you can't
tell the differences with the men and the women's.

Speaker 1 (01:55):
That's very true. I mean, and I know, and I'm
sure that we'll be talking about this on on ignition
and also on the aw Fantom subreddit. Is you know
who the teams? I mean, we've got some ready made teams,
but we also have teams that maybe we didn't expect
that could get back together again. Uh. Look at Chris

(02:21):
Statlander tonight and the women's world title match against Mina Shirakawa.
The match was great by the way, but what happened
after the match didn't leave any doubt. Threw two middle
fingers at the death writers Wheeler you to.

Speaker 2 (02:44):
I was so hoping she was gonna get you up
in the Wednesday Night special and put him down.

Speaker 1 (02:51):
But the clothes line was good.

Speaker 2 (02:52):
I was happy.

Speaker 1 (02:54):
Yeah, I was doing I don't know, I just liked it. Uh,
we're gonna get the mixed team match next week. Last night,
I don't know if you heard the podcast last night,
I predicted that at Russell Dream it's going to be
I predicted this. It's going to be Chris Statlander in

(03:16):
a three way match against Harley Cameron because she's friends
with Harley Cameron and kind of HARKing back to what
happened between MJF and Adam Cole when MGF said we're
not only going to give you a title match, we're
gonna make it the main event at all In in Wembley,
and it's going to kind of be one of those
things where I think Chris Statlander is going to say

(03:41):
I'm going to give you a title shot because you're
you're a friend and you always stood by my side.
I did say that was gonna be a three way match.
The third person, Marina Shafir. That's what I said last night,
and I stand by it, and I think that's what's
gonna happen.

Speaker 2 (03:58):
I can see that. I mean I don't. I don't
think it's gonna quite be fair to Marina because she
hasn't wrestled.

Speaker 1 (04:05):
In how long.

Speaker 2 (04:06):
I mean, you know she's she's tough and she can fight,
but not being in the ring like that for so
long and then only having about a month, not even
that's about a month, do you get ready.

Speaker 1 (04:18):
For Marina has had some matches on the NDS. Yeah,
you're right, and she has had matches on Ring She
has had matches at Ring of Honor too, so she's
not gonna have ring ross. Look, here's the thing, Sting,
Chris Statlnder just won the title. You're not gonna put

(04:39):
her in the first pay per view against somebody like
Tony Storm or Dina or Willow because she's going to win.
They're not taking this, so they're gonna put her on
a pay per view against Waterer. My my prediction to
women that aren't expected to win, and it isn't a

(05:00):
big deal. If they don't. It would be a big
deal if they did, but it won't be a big
deal if they don't win, and that's what she needed.

Speaker 2 (05:09):
The nice thing was that they they kind of did
something they're not used to doing in four waight title matches.
She actually beat and pinned Tony Storm, So there's no
question that she's the champ. You can't come back and go, well,
she and beat Tony you know how they do?

Speaker 1 (05:25):
She did, she did, got clean, went over Tony.

Speaker 2 (05:30):
Yeah, and they don't have to have a rematch.

Speaker 1 (05:33):
Yeah, So I mean, you know, look, don't expect a
true uh top card challenger for Chris Statlander until what's
the next pay per view actor Russell Dreamer is it? Well, well, yeah,
I think it's full year so aw, so many pay

(05:56):
per views that I can't keep them straight. Used to
be so easy. Yeah, it was like, you know, there
were nothing all in, all out and uh uh the
other one. Yeah, yeah, it's like like twelve of them.
It was like by Revolution was always pretty much in
the mix. But yeah, Dynasty and Russell dream The World's

(06:19):
End and Forbidden Door and you know russells, oh no
that's not ours, Okay to that goofy man, come on, Yeah,
so you wanted to talk about actually not a match,
but a big yet that that happened that the most.

Speaker 2 (06:39):
Was the most intriguing to me tonight was m j F.
I did not expect. I mean, I figure, he's got
another movie to do and that's why he's taking some
time off.

Speaker 1 (06:50):
Oh he does, he's doing a movie.

Speaker 2 (06:53):
Yeah, and it was it definitely. I mean, if you
got to give the man his credit for the way
he can act, because that was perfect. He came out,
he said, you know what he said, he made you,
He made you. He made me very interested in what's
going to happen when he comes back and see how
he's going to do this, because that, to me was
very unexpected. I think that might have been the most unexpected.

Speaker 1 (07:14):
Part of the whole night. Let me ask you a question. Okay,
the vibe that you got from MJF. Part of me
thought that he was going to come back as a
babyface again, which I like. I do like that. I
thought that despite the devil stuff, the partnership between Adam

(07:38):
Cole and MJF was probably one of the best things
that happened in aw at that point. At that time,
I've got to agree.

Speaker 2 (07:48):
It was. It was amazing, and it's all going to
depend I don't know how long he's going to be out,
you know, we don't know that, but I can see
him coming back as a baby face, but it's going
to depend on who the champ is when he comes back,
because it's gonna kind of hard for him to be
a baby face if he's going after Adam Page.

Speaker 1 (08:09):
That's true.

Speaker 2 (08:10):
You know, a babyface babyface title match isn't for the
world titles. Not gonna kind of I mean, it can
go over and you can do it. And they're both
very capable of pulling off a mask like that, because
if you think about it, when him and Adam Cole
had their match, they were pretty much both babyfaces.

Speaker 1 (08:25):
And it was they were definitely babyfaces. There were a
couple of incidents where MGF had an opportunity to stab
Adam Cole in the back, but he didn't take it,
and uh and then Adam Cole course stabbed M. Jeff
in the back. But you know, my whole thing is
is you know, also keep this in mind, is mg

(08:47):
still has that contract that he can execute, although he
hasked to execute it seven days ahead of time, and see.

Speaker 2 (08:54):
I thought, I actually, that's what I thought when he
started talking. That's what I thought he was gonna do.
I thought he's gonna say, look, I got I got
I got my I got my butt handed to me,
and I'm tired of this. And I thought he's gonna say, look,
I want to say it right now, I'm executing this.
I want this title match at wrestled Dream.

Speaker 1 (09:13):
I swear.

Speaker 2 (09:14):
I thought that's what he was going to do, and
then when he didn't, I was like, oh my god,
that's kind of interesting.

Speaker 1 (09:20):
So you know, I I hope you're right.

Speaker 2 (09:22):
I hope he does come back as a baby face,
because they've got I still think we have way too
many heels in aw at the moment.

Speaker 1 (09:30):
If he doesn't come back as a babyface, I'd settle
for like the anti hero. Yeah, you know, he's kind
of like in a vague area, I guess, right.

Speaker 2 (09:42):
And and you kind of had that with with Hangman
for the longest time, but he's kind of left that
role open now, so there is room for.

Speaker 1 (09:49):
That, right and uh, well, like, look, let's move on.
We're not going to cover all the matches and segments. Oh,
but we're just gonna maybe share some of the things
that we saw other things that we saw. Is there
anything that kind of stood out to you and tonight's
show that we haven't already talked about.

Speaker 2 (10:10):
I kind of like the vignette for the a Jurassic Express.
I think that's gonna be great. Yeah, the Claudia Powerhouse
Hobbs match was a good match, but again, you know,
it's the death Rider, so you know how that came out.
And the one thing that kind of I'm getting really
sick of is FTR. They just that that whole thing.

(10:32):
I mean, I get it, and I get what they're
going for, but it's starting to get really really old,
and I don't know, I don't know, it just doesn't
work for me anymore.

Speaker 1 (10:43):
I'm kind of on the fence with FTR one hand,
and I've said this before. On one hand, not every
feud and not every big match needs to have a
title belt involved in it. So I appreciate that Copeland
and Christian and FTR and now Willow and Stokely are

(11:04):
pretty much in it too. I think that's gonna be
you know, if if Beth Copeland is not signed, uh
if like I don't think that she's gonna sign a
deal with AW To be honest, of course, I'm speaking
out of my ass and since I don't know, but
my whole thing is is that she may get signed

(11:27):
to like a four match deal or something like that. Yep,
you know, well yeah, kind of something like that. But
we'll see. But my my point is is that not
every match needs to have a belt you know, involved
in it. So I do appreciate that. But my worry

(11:49):
is is that with FTR and if you have to
add Christian in Copeland to this as well, Uh, if
they're gonna do the same thing over and over and
over again, that's gonna start looking like groundhog Day, where
you know, you're stuck at a time loop, you know.
So that's that.

Speaker 2 (12:07):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (12:07):
One of the things that I personally enjoyed a lot
in this show was the absolute shocking surprise. Nobody And
if you tell me you saw this coming, you're You're
a liar and I'm gonna call you out on it
and I'm gonna be rate you for the rest of
your life. Nobody saw Orange Cassidy being in that match,

(12:31):
No nobody did. I mean, it was a total shock.
It was a complete surprise. It just came out of nowhere.
It was cool. It was cool seeing orange.

Speaker 2 (12:40):
Back and the best of it was you ruined Callus's picture.

Speaker 1 (12:46):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (12:48):
And you know what when they said the when he
said my artwork, I was thinking, The first thing came
to my mind, where's it is she watching this? Is
she seeing this? Because she might get to your picture again?
That was the first thing that came to my mind,
said I was, here we go.

Speaker 1 (13:04):
The first thing that came to my mind was, oh, good,
we get to see another piece by mel Coleman, because
that mel Coleman is the one that's that paints these pictures,
right and uh And I was like, wait a minute,
there hasn't been enough. I mean, those things take time.
And when when Callous said that it's his largest one
and they wield you know, and and they're so big

(13:25):
that they have to wheel it out. Even before they
wheeled it out, I knew that something was going to
happen with the picture already painting, because you need a
lot of time to paint something that large. Of course,
they could have painted it small, printed it and put
it on you know, larger canvas, but you need something larger.
And I'm thinking to myself. Mel Coleman hasn't had time

(13:47):
to paint something that big, you know, And so I
was like, oh so when they started wheeling it out,
I was like Orange Cassi and he's under the under
the drape, you know. So that that that that wasn't
even a surprise. Yeah, I mean, it was a total
total just nobody saw that coming.

Speaker 2 (14:06):
It was great though. It was good to see Orange back.
I'm glad of bringing everybody back that's coming back. I mean,
we got Orange back, we got Drastic Express back. You
know some of these guys coming back. Pack back Yeah,
pack books so different.

Speaker 1 (14:20):
Yeah different. And it was like, I don't know if
you saw it, but we talked about this last night
on the show, and nets quote was, I did recognize
him dry talking about pack and that's become a meme now,
you know, I recognize him, Try, I didn't recognize him
try or whatever. We laughed about that after the show

(14:45):
for quite a while last night. You know. One other
things that I wanted to bring up before we closed
the show, Uh, is kind of an interesting thing. We
had Hagman Adam Page against Lee Briorty. Yeah, I kind
of like this, I am I am and I expressed

(15:05):
this last night on the show. I am not a
fan of technical wrestler wrestling as far as technical wrestling
matches go. So that people don't get mad at me.
It's when I say I'm not a fan, it's not
my I like the matches, they're just not my favorite matches.

Speaker 2 (15:22):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (15:22):
For example, Zach Saber Junior matches, I had a hard
time focus on him because I kind of find them
they're just not me. You know, that's not what I like.

Speaker 2 (15:34):
I like.

Speaker 1 (15:34):
I like brutality. One of the reasons I like hang
Man Pitch because he's a brutal wrestler. He's a very
physical wrestler. But but I like this match because he
was going against the Ring of Honor Pure Champion and

(15:55):
this was a technical match, and so we got to
see a different side of hag Man Addam Paige where
he showed that he doesn't have to staple your chest,
you know, dry screwdriver or a four kid to your forehead.
You know, he doesn't have he doesn't have to body

(16:15):
slam you onto a brick. You know, he can wrestle.
And I thought that was important to see.

Speaker 2 (16:22):
Yeah, I agree, I mean, I'm I like I like
all wrestling, it's just you know, there's some masses that
that will not catch my eye or will be boring
to me personally, because it just isn't. I don't see
the chemistry. I don't feel the chemistry between them. I
don't have a problem with anybody wrestling anything, any kind
of match, as long as it is got they got

(16:44):
good chemistry, and that tonight, that kind of showed me
that Adam, that Adam Page can wrestle with anybody. He
can go in anything, and there's.

Speaker 1 (16:54):
No holding him back.

Speaker 2 (16:55):
His cute, you know, I mean, he's an I don't
even hold is he.

Speaker 1 (17:00):
Honestly, I don't know. I think he's in his early thirties.

Speaker 2 (17:03):
Okay, I was thinking about thirty five or so, but
you know he's young. He's still young in wrestling terms anymore,
and he's got a long way to go. So, you know,
it was it was a good match. I didn't think
it was a bad card tonight. I thought it was
really they did a lot of backstage stuff, it kind
of it kind of just flowed tonight. It was like
it was we we talked about it like a couple

(17:24):
a month or two ago when they were just having
these shows, it just kind of flowed right into each other.

Speaker 1 (17:28):
Yeah, kind of like one of the things that I
did notice is that, and not in all cases, but
in most cases tonight, the commercials were between matches and segments.
I think they only I know they interrupted the Women's
World title match with a commercial.

Speaker 2 (17:44):
Uh and Hangman's matches interrupted. I'm sorry there was there
was one. There was one interruption in the Hangman match.

Speaker 1 (17:53):
That was the first of the night. I'm pretty sure. Yeah,
I think there was one more that maybe it was
Claudia and Powerhouse Hobbs that. But the point is is
that in some nights, the commercials, you know, they they
overrun the matches a little bit, and tonight they really

(18:15):
did it as much. And I mean it's inevitable, you go,
you we have so much time in a two hour
show that you can put wrestling and segments on, but
you also have to have the commercials so that you
can pay everybody, you know. So I mean, I thought
it was I have no problems with the commercials that
AW runs and whatnot, But all I'm saying is that

(18:36):
tonight they made it to where you literally didn't feel
like you were missing much of the show right with
the commercials. That's all yep. So that's all he talked
for this week. We will be back on Tuesday night
at eight forty five Eastern for Ignition. This is a
community podcast. Everybody is invited to come and just you know,

(19:04):

fighting COVID, especially when you've got other health issues, it
is not a fun thing.
