(00:00):
Matt Tricia, if you had thebowl to save the earth? How dead
are we? Oh, we're prettydead bumpers. I don't know. I'm
also very bad with bumpers, Sowe're like, we're extremely dead. We're
like, you know, say yourlast goodbyes. We're not getting out of
this alive. Yeah, considering thelast bowling league I was in was a

(00:20):
Pokemon bowling league. I was amember of the charmand or flame Throwers,
I think we're pretty fucked, thankyou. Yeah. I was never in
a bowling league. I was justterrible. My worst score is twenty nine
with the bumpers on. No.Yeah, did you know you can still
get gutter balls when the bumpers up? Do you bounce them over? No?

(00:58):
You basically roll the ball so badthat it just rolls down right up
against the bumper and then falls offthe edge. Oh that's amazing. Okay,
So then all right, let's changeit up. You have to save
the world. So you know, like, with the fate of the world
and the balance, which game orsport or whatever do you think you would
stand the best chance in? Like? What are you challenging these weird space

(01:19):
people too? In my better years, the Pokemon trading card game. Wow,
I never understood despite my Bowling Leaguegame or a game of Dungeons and
Dragons. Oh okay, cool,Yes, I'm going like either Angry Birds

(01:42):
or two player mode Temple level ofGolden Eye. Oh okay, I haven't
played it in like ten years, and I could smoke you right now.
I mean easily. I am verybad at video games, which is why
I did not choose any video game, even the ones that I am arguably
okay at. It's just occurring tome. I think it's because I like
chose my version, was like liketo chose the game like this is kind

(02:05):
of space Jam. Yeah, basicallythis is which I haven't put that together
except that there are no Looney tunesanyway, binga special you. The listeners
have voted and we're doing six toeleven. The final Frame aired August eighth,
twenty twenty one, written by JamesEgan and Ray You're Turning at Chet,

(02:25):
directed by someone I don't recognize thename, Jess McCallen. Yeah,
Jess McCallen, I know she's goingyour talent, all right. Well,
we'll keep an eye on her.Ratings point forty five million people, which
is which normal for this period oftime, which honestly a bit of a
bump. This is okay. Wehaven't seen these numbers since back to the

(02:47):
finale, part two, so Ilove back to the finale part two.
We're doing okay, We are doingokay. So our team run down for
this episode please is they're sort ofsplit into like three groups, but I'm
gonna given to you all at once. Sarah, Mick Spooner, Astra Ava,
Constantine, Bhard, Gary, Nate, and Zari one point zero.

(03:08):
Yes, yeah, we've got threestories. Yeah, yeah, we have
an A, B and C story, but they all fit together and everyone
thinks it's an off day except forthe people caught in the bowling up.
Basically, they're like, oh,we're on vacation today. We're projects to
recap as if we need to,because I think we've spent most of our
time in this podcast so far.We have. Yeah, yeah, but

(03:30):
it's the Year of the Saucer people. We've got alien fugitives in the timeline.
Thanks to Sarah, we're still kindof chasing them down. Bishop is
off somewhere doing alien hybrid experiments tryto take over the world in a few
episodes, Sarah is now a Cword and Mick is in a motherly way,
and that's that's where we're at,Mick talking about being pregnant right at

(03:50):
the beginning's episode. Very funny, very funny. I love too the like
if you miss the last episode,go fuck yourself. Yeah, basically immediately
lost this. I love this episodeso much. But one of the things
that I noticed while watching it waslike, nothing happens, Nothing happened,
it's real, Lokay, I love. I really also didn't notice it till

(04:13):
watching this because, like you know, I don't watch the show with a
critical eye genuinely, but I'm like, oh, of course I like this
one where it's like a the stakeshave never been higher, but also kind
of low stakes, you know, like drama wise, it's like, yeah,
it's it's not dramatical. I thinkone of the things is like,
you know they're going to get outthe other side, okay, like you
know, yeah, because the stakesare so high and it's not a crisis,

(04:36):
so just watch and have fun.But it's it's mostly a character episode,
like it's all about driving those characterpoints home totally. So yeah,
this is this is the final frame. This is bowling Bowling in space?
Is alien bowling? Episode? Like, we start with the barest thing of
like we're looking for an alien pod, and by we I mean Sarah Mick

(04:56):
Astra Spooner an interesting away party.Yeah, I the same thing. Like
I don't know how this got linedup beside, like it feels like you
would have taken John or bay Rodhonestly, but whatever. It's notably the
last alien pod because after this weget into like sort of our end game.
It's notably kind of like the lastgasp of this kind of era of
the show too, before we getinto real stuff. I know. The

(05:18):
next episode is board on Board onBoard, I believe, Yeah it is.
So that's another like just let's docharacter stuff versus real plotty stuff.
But one of the things that Iwant to note about this is, yes,
so the whole point of this season, well at the beginning of the
season was that Kayla was kidnapping likewonderful specimens from throughout history to bring for
this like alien human Why is thebox one of them? I don't know,

(05:43):
did did the Pinkillers put it there? Maybe they? Is it about
alien devices or is the box sentientin its own way. Oh, it
could be could be a creature, not just a box. I read an
article when this episode came out thatimmediately became headcannon. It's the only way
I can see this episode, andI love it so much. And the
article is basically like, hey,did the Legends just do new Gods?

(06:06):
Oh? My god? Which andwhich is? Which is? Like,
Patricia, you pointed out in OurDussia here that the box reminds you of
Mother Boxes from j L. Yeah, yes, that's why I'm like sentient
box. I have not read thatarticle, and I just noticed that,

(06:26):
like you had just written DC headcanon, so I was like, oh,
this reminds me of the Mother Boxesfrom Justice League because it has a very
similar design. M how about that? How about that? How about that?
It's one of those like I'm notgoing to sit here and be like,
yeah, Mike, the Strike isdark side, Like, it's not
that headcanon, But I'm like, are these people? Are these beings?
Is Buddy from New Genesis is here? Forever people? Is? Are the

(06:50):
Painkillers from Apocalypse? Or like somethinglike that. This is so cosmic and
out there and these creatures, thesealiens whatever are so fucking powerful and they
clearly use and transport people via boxthat I'm like, I actually think that's

(07:11):
a really interesting theory. Not becauseI think they did New Gods, although
I do like the idea that Buddyis from New Genesis and he's just like
I'm gonna go out here and havea bull in Alli, but also because
like in my mind, the LegendsWriter's Room are just like consuming as much
random DC stuff as possible. There'sa lot of stuff that reminds me of
like Silver Age stuff, yes,or Bronze Age stuff, but mostly Silver
Age that I feel like this,if you're gonna do even an homage to

(07:34):
New Gods, like this is theshow to do it on, and I
do I could see them just beinglike, hey, here's some stuff that
none of these shows are ever goingto get to. But I'm never gonna
let us call them New Gods oranything like that. But right, but
why don't we like take some inspirationfrom Jack Kirby. Yes, And there's

(07:54):
a thing where, like some ofthe New Gods there was like the kind
of Cowboy six shootery New Gods,Like there's this thing where like sometimes the
New Gods kind of fetishize human Earthpeople's stuff, and that I'm like,
yeah, I could see a newGod like going to Earth and being like,
oh, you know what we needin New Genesis fucking bowling. So
that actually brings me to not tolike skip around at all, but like

(08:16):
please, So Mike the Strike,Yes, I want to talk about this
actor who I really look up hisname, Hang on a second time,
then just restart this. Ye NickBishop? Okay, So Mike's the Strike.
It's something that I wanted to talkabout in this episode because it's the
first episode where Nick Bishop appears forus. Anyway, it's not the first

(08:37):
episode he appears, and I thinkit's the third. Yeah, so he
is one of he's one of JFK'sguys in the Oval office during bash basis
thank You. I'm like that, what is the squid one during during Bay
of Squids. He's also I believein the episode where it's not Diggle but

(09:00):
it's yeah, it's that that one. Oh, the one right before this,
I think the Old Wests. Yeah, the Old West one. I
believe he's in that. I'm gonnalook it up to make sure, because
I believe he plays like the stressedWestern He's Levi Stapleton yeah, okay,
So he plays Levi Stapleton in thatepisode. It's a few episodes before this,
so he's in three different episodes asthree different people. I think part

(09:22):
of that is because of COVID.Okay, so it's like, hey,
we can keep the number of likemajor guest stars down if we have the
same guy playing multiple characters in verydifferent like looks. But also he would
already be in the bubble because heis Jess mccallen's fiance or husband. I
can't I don't know if they're marriedyet. Are they married yet now in
real life? Now, like Idon't know if I'm not sure if they're
married yet now in real life,I know they're engaged. Oh okay,

(09:45):
they're at least engaged, if notmarried. They just had a kid together.
But he was Jess mcallen's significant otherat the time. He was Jess
mcallen's partner at the time of shootingthis episode, which is funny because bad
guy in two episodes in a realm. No, he was a bad guy
in three episodes in one season, but it was episode four, episode eight,
and episode eleven. Oh okay, excuse me. So there's a few

(10:05):
episodes in between, which is whyI forgot there's guts in between. It
took me like a couple of episode, a couple of times watching the season.
That might have been the second timewatching it to realize that he plays
multiple characters, because I also, like I recognize him from other stuff that
he's been in. I feel likehe's a frequent day player. Okay,
but yeah, so, like soalso thinking about the New Gods thing and

(10:26):
mentioning that there's like a U,you know, Western type, like I
wonder if that was also part oftheir thinking that like maybe if the just
justify this that the same new Godis just jumping out through time like let's
fuck around with humans this whole time. Yeah, anyway, so that's that's
like four different thoughts all at once. Wow, Okay, we should post
this article when this episode comes up. I forget who it was. It's

(10:50):
like Denny Geeks, a comic bookwhatever, right, so people reading and
see what we're talking about. Butthat's very fun. But it was just
like especially on this show where likethey did Themiscara without asking kind of you
know, like like I wouldn't putit past them to be like, yeah,
if you know what you're talking aboutit's it's the new guns, you
know, like in our minds,he's you know, someone from a popular

(11:11):
sor it did make me think, like you're talking deep cuts DC stuff.
I'm like, I'm amazed, likeSpace Cabby never made it into this show,
or like someone like that, youknow, like that would be perfect
for those that would be perfect forthis, So would a lot of Like
I'm surprised that we never got afifth dimensional imp on the show. Oh,
totally, obviously we had. Youwouldn't even have to do the main
two, right, like we had. We had two on Supergirl, one

(11:33):
who was an invention of the showand obviously Missus. Yeah that was nixy,
Like they could have done bat mightor they has done something else.
Yeah, but even just like dosomething like like I would totally see that
happening, especially in the Year ofMagic or whatever. That would make sense
to Yeah. Yeah, this showcould have done so many more ridiculous things,

(11:54):
so for us, they didn't.Anyway, I'm glad. I'm glad
you're on board for this. Yeah, it's absolutely unvirtuous. They get Mother,
they get boom tubed to the GalaxyLane. Oh I want is one
DC property to say, Boom Tube. Do they not in the Justice League,
not even in the four hour cut. It's two dumb OWDs in a
in a serious version of just yeahno, I guess not. All right,

(12:18):
we were going to get that Avaduverneknew God's movies, Yeah, we
were, and then they killed it. I was so excited for him.
Yeah, we get we get beamedup where we meet Buddy, who is
the kindly old man behind the counter, who's who's just like dealing with stuff
and like it is his doing, right, Like he's the one that's into
bowling and decided that far space needed, you know, like we're out by

(12:39):
the Source Wall, but we needto have a bowling right. Yeah.
Basically he has only been referenced onceand all of the rovers did they reference
the Source Wall and the arroverst theyreference it in the Flash. I just
watched this episode like yesterday, whichis the when they're trying to open the
box for Diggle said something about thesourcefall. Wow, oh my god,

(13:01):
I don't remember that the box thatisn't a green lantern ring. That's just
his temptation. Yeah, yeah, okay, interesting, I see there's precedent
there they're out there somewhere. They'reout near the source wall and there's just
friendom bowling alley. How do youget there to take a motherbox? You
get there by boo, but it'sthe only way to get there. But

(13:22):
we meet the I love too, like the kind of full transformation of this.
It's very magic e it's very spelly, but like suddenly they're in their
Legends Bowling shirts, which, dude, if we ever go to a convention,
I'm pretty sure they had them aslike crew things too. Oh I've
never sai or they sent them atas part as one of the press kids.
Because I have a friend who hasone interesting interesting she also knows some

(13:46):
of the writers. So I don'tknow. Okay, but I want like
I want an embossed you know, like or not embossed. What am I
saying? I want like a properlyembroidered one of these. Yeah, yeah,
just to be clear, and Mattmatching Bowling, we want to do
that. We want to do theTime euro Softball League, I think oh

(14:07):
yeaeah or even like we just wearsuits today and we have pins, you
know, like I've we've already gotthe time carrier, So yeah, perfect
Yeah, I can't. I can'twait to go to a convention with you
and actually do some like Legends cosplaying. Yeah, I'm bum that we can't
make it to the Legends con thisyear. I know, but it's it's
in England. We can't make itto England. Mao, Yeah, it's
in London. We just did twoweeks in Europe, you know, the

(14:28):
two of us, Like, wecan't do those anyway. I like that
the whole, the whole transformation ofit, Like they're instantly in this world.
The tech is complete. Uh,we meet Buddy. He seems lovely,
but these other asshole aliens from Apocalypsehave taken over the bowling Alley and
are kind of holding team's hostage basicallyand their worlds. One of the things

(14:50):
that I like about the the wholething about it is that way it's so
obvious immediately when they put the ballin the case that it's a world,
and that that it's some sort ofplanet. Yeah. But yeah. So
one of the things that I likedabout about this entrance for them and for
Buddy is that, like he getsso excited that they're from Earth because the

(15:11):
Earthlings invented bowling. You invented bawland you'll be fucking great at this.
Yeah, Wols not so much, not so much, but yeah, I
think the whole magic, the mcguffinof it is fun. Seeing the bowling
ball kind of become a planet fora second, seeing the people that they
first that first lose get almost likeendgame dusted into the ball. I think

(15:37):
that's really cool. I also thinklike just jumping around it's being go special
everybody fuck off. The magic ofhow the Earth bowling Ball and the people
on Earth like interact with everybody isreally fun and yeah, just just kind

(15:58):
of like properly uh comedic for thisshow. I am curious, like what
happens to the world's once they're inthe case, Like do they cease to
exist? Are just not turning anymore? Is it end of days? Like
what's is it? Is it alike bottled city of candor thing? Maybe
they exist, they're just tiny maybebecause it's kind of that right, Like

(16:19):
it's kind of the brainiac thing. It's very similar to the worlds yea worlds,
Yeah, which doesn't destroy the world, it just makes it tiny.
H I think it does screw withit a little, but I mean probably
I don't know does he Does hetake worlds too, I've seen him take
cities. Bottling worlds, I believeis one of the brainiac things. I

(16:41):
know that cities is also part ofit, but I will be honest that
I'm not one hundred percent. Mostof my knowledge of brainiac is is from
Supergirl. Oh okay, by whichthey did bottle worlds. Have you ever
watched Crypton the TV show? Idid not watch Crypton Worth your time despite
working for sif forbid, truly worthyour time whenever you like, don't run

(17:03):
right out. But it's really good. It's a shame that got canceled anyway.
Yeah, there's a lot going onalso, Like this is a I
want to call it a Wonder Womaneighty four level event going on on Earth
that seemingly nobody remembers after this, which is why I'm calling it a Wonder

(17:23):
Woman eighty four level event, Likewhat is what is Earth's memory of this?
Because like three giant holes appeared inthe Earth's surface, they were all
these like global earthquakes, Like itwas not a good day to be on
planet Earth. It wasn't. Andthere were news reports. There were news
reports. Yeah, and like nothing, nothing seems to have because it doesn't.

(17:48):
It's one of those things where it'sthis massive, like world ending event
that doesn't ripple through any of theother shows. I know. So it
must be just like immediate amnesia, like that's part of the alien magic.
They're so powerful, they're so powerfultreasure. They're from somewhere. Maybe they're
not even maybe New Genesis and Apocalypseis too small. Maybe it's too small.
Maybe it's somewhere else we haven't evenheard of. Yeah, they're from

(18:10):
outside the multiverse. Who knows.Anyway, I don't know. It's gonna
be a short episode where at theship log like there's not too much and
going on here, you know, yeah, not really. I mean I
do like the idea that like Spooneraccidentally challenges them because they're just being jerks,
and she doesn't take too kindly tothat, and she's a bowling prodigy,

(18:33):
I guess, yeah. I like. So there's so much great character
stuff in this episode. And oneof those things is that like her foster
dad took her to League night everyevery week as like a means of helping
her feel like she belongs somewhere.I really like that. That's really nice.
I do too. I think it'sreally cute, and it's it's not
said to like the end of theepisode, I think too. We just

(18:56):
see her like the minute she goesup to bowls, she's like she's sniffing
the boards and she's like, oh, there's a dip on sixteen, you
know, like like she clearly knowswhat's going on. It's a little chili,
so it's gonna be slick on thebullards or whatever. Yeah, bowling
LINGO, I do not know.I'm not even sure if it's real sound.
She's basically she's reading the lane likea golfer reads the green or whatever.

(19:18):
Sure which also that's real or not? I have no idea, but
yeah, so she's she's the pro. Sarah is an assassin, so she's
just mistake wonderful. Yeah, exactly. Astra won't play for most of the
time, and then when she doesstart to play as bad and Mick has

(19:41):
a glove bowling ball problem and it'sjust like tossing it down the lane and
it skips four lanes over but likeit's not going well. I mean he
does manage to knockdown pins. Yes, he does contribute to their score.
Although eventually, how bad must thePinkillers actually be if two of the legends
are terrible? This is my question. Is it just that other alien worlds

(20:03):
like bowling is so far into themthat they're that bad, And like the
pin Killers it is far into themtoo. They've just been doing it for
a little while, so they're okay. Like I was like, well,
they must be getting strikes every time. They're not. They're not, no,
although one of them seems to getspares most of the time. M
It's like that was her name. But they're doing okay. Yeah, it's
not it's not great. It's notgreat. So like Sarah and Spooner must

(20:26):
actually be getting strikes every single time, like they're bowling a three hundred.
Yeah, thank god. Meanwhile, though, on Earth, dealing with all
the Shenanigans of being a bowling ball, we've got Natansari sorry at one point,
oh to be the Shenanigans of beinga bowling ball. So this is
like back when they had established thisweird like twenty four hour rule for yeah,

(20:48):
I forgot this. I forgot too, because in season seven it's not
twenty four hours. Well, youhave to understand, the time is cement,
so it takes a while to hearten. I assume is we're twenty four
hours came from I don't I wonderif it came from like when they were
both out in the world and likeit took twenty four hours for bay Rods
to start feeling the effects maybe orsomething. So yeah, like she's got

(21:10):
twenty four hours out in the worldand they're spending it camping for whatever reason.
For yeah, with with this awfulcouple that the woman just says rock
and roll for like the first actof this whole thing, Jesus Christ's so
annoying. After the fourth time,Oh it's terrible. I mean, like,
I know they're supposed to be,like they're awful people. Yeah,
at least he is, but it'sstill just like Jesus Christ. It does

(21:33):
get to a point where like they'rewith this awful couple, all their ship
dies, they all have to walkinto town or whatever and try to find
batteries and get a charge or whatever. But Zari is talking to the woman
and the other couple and it's justlike like it brings up this thing of
like, well, if you guysare spending this much time apart and you're

(21:56):
fine with it, like should youactually be to like do you do you
need each other if you can spendthat much time apart? Which I think
is an interesting question to raise forfor them at this point. Yeah,
I think so too, And obviouslyit does like play into Sorry's attitude for
the rest of the episode, wherelike she talks about it like how do

(22:18):
they really care for each other theway that they think they do, or
really need each other if they areable to spend time apart and not have
it affect their relationship. I thinkthat some people can make long distance work.
Yes, and clearly they can clearly, especially because it's not so much
long distance as it is like circumstance, like this is the situation that we're

(22:41):
going If we want to be together, we have to deal with it.
So they do. Yeah, that'sa good point. And that's that's kind
of more or less what they cometo. I forget what they actually say
to kind of wrap this up.I don't remember either. It's it's very
much like, well, I guessit's the b story technically, and the
story is the Avias stuff. Butyeah, like it's it's funny because like
this is an odd storyline. It'slike, this is a very weird thing

(23:03):
to be happening alongside this bowling thing. But also like I like that it
ties in, like they have twoof the legends out in the world to
actually see the effects that the bowlingthing, like like you said, being
in a bowling ball is having onthe world. So like they're in Alaska,
which is where one of the bigholes is opened up. And one
of my favorite parts of the episodeis so like Nate accidentally grabs Spooner's bag

(23:26):
which has like MRIs and weapons andstuff in it yea, and they end
up it ends up having this giantgun and they like so like they see
the finger Mike, the Strike's fingeryeah, over the sky and they're like,
what's that a finger? And thenthey end up shooting it and then

(23:48):
that ends up being like what helpsthem get lower scores, like because he
drops the ball or whatever. Ialso like the line like is it just
me or is that cloud but kindof like Mike, Yeah, as Mike
is like I in the ball likeGosha's Earth or whatever. Yeah, No,
I like that too. Again,it's great to see them, It's
great to see them having fun. It's funny to me that they're like they're

(24:10):
kind of all on mission when whenship's going down, then like camping is
not romantic at all. And theminute they're back on the wave rider is
when they start making out for asecond before bay Rodd interrupts, Yeah,
I don't understand why you would gocamping. No, of course, that
you've got one day you could goanywhere, don't go camping. He was

(24:30):
gonna bring donuts though in fair Tales, like it was gonna be nice.
But yeah, anyway, r Cand C minus storylines, So avon Gary
is the first one, which Iactually think is very cute. Yeah.
I like them like just hanging outtrying to pick out a wedding dress.
I think it's cute. I likeseeing them alone like this far removed from

(24:53):
time Bureau days. But I wouldlike to think that Ava has better fashion
sense or her instincts than what sheis being led through in this episode.
She winds up with all the likepeeps in her hair and like everything,
the little owls and birds in theveil. Yeah, I thought the owls
and birds were adorable. They're terriblefor your wedding, but they're adorable.

(25:14):
No, I think she has betterfashion sense, but I also think that
she's really nervous about getting married, and so when Gary's like telling her these
are bad decisions, she's second guessingeverything. How many acting days do you
think Jess spent on this episode? On this episode, I would say she's
spent two. I think so too, because she's in three locations and the

(25:37):
bridge shot. Those are always thehardest because they've got the screen going no,
because they've got so much coverage becauseit's like four or five people.
Oh sure there are four people inthis one too. Ye kind of emptied
out the wave rider. Yeah,So like those are those that's like a
day, and then the other stuffI think is like a half day here
and a half day there, youknow. M Okay, So, like
the trying on wedding dress is seenthat was mostly a monte that was antas

(26:00):
more than anything true, and thenshe's just kind of glombed on to the
end of and talking to Sarah locationat bowling day at the door. Yeah,
yeah, that's what I mean. But like that's all one day.
So what do you what do youthink of the of the dress? It's
terrible. I didn't even like theoriginal dress. No, it's it's not
good. It was one of thoselike it's one of those things that happens

(26:25):
on TV shows when we're planning awedding for a whole season. We're like,
we'll see the dress early and somethingwe'll fall to ship with the dress
so that we can still surprise everybodyin the finale when we see the real
dress. Like like sitcoms through thisall the time. It's just that I
feel like it's fun. Sometimes theyeven do like a hole trying to buy
the dress episode where you like, you see the dress that they're gonna wear,

(26:47):
and then on the day of thewedding without any other story plot,
like it's just a different dress. At least friends like Monica had to give
it back. Yeah, yeah, yeah, but I don't know. So
the dress is awful, but it'ssupposed to be awful the original I didn't
even like the original dress. Iliked the first dress. Wait, what's

(27:07):
the original? What do you meanexplain the original and first? Well,
so the the original dress before thealterations and the first dress that she's wearing
in the episode, like when she'son the phone with Sarah coms with Sarah.
Oh, those were different, differentdress. I liked the first one.
I did not like the one thatshe's like, this is the one,
and I'm like, no, it'snot. Please put it away.
Oh okay. It was just itwas not a nice It was not a

(27:29):
good silhouette. It was way toosimple. But even ariginal dress doesn't match
final dress. The final dress isthe dress that she says like this is
the one, but with the lacecaps on her sleeves, with this ridiculous
veil and with all of this, like tool, oh okay, but that
dress becomes the dress she gets marriedin the finale. No, that's a
totally different dress. Okay, that'swhat I looked that up too. It's

(27:51):
a different dress entirely. It's likemaking sure we're playing by TV troup roules.
Yeah, TV role. She hasa totally different dress in the finale.
Anyway, if is an address,Johnny bay Roder hanging out this.
I love this part because I likewhat they depict with Constantine. I do
too, like it, Like it'skind of bullshit to put it in the

(28:12):
ship log because it all means nothingbecause John's is high the whole time.
Yea, but obviously like he's he'sspiraling. We just haven't caught on yet.
So one of the things that Ilike, I mentioned this in an
earlier episode, but one of thethings I like is the way that they
do magic as a drug in thisseason, because like, obviously, if
you watch any show that has magic, you've seen magic as a drug,

(28:33):
like multiple times. It's on Buffy, I think it's on Charmed, like,
it's everywhere. And I think thatthis show does one of the best
jobs of magic as a drug thatI've seen, because it's not just that
magic itself is the drug, it'sthat he is actually taking a magic I
think it's like vampire blood. Yeah, do we ever say that? That's
my I think that's what he's toldthat it is, or that's what it

(28:56):
gets talked about when he gets thewhen he like sells the portrait of Alister
Crowley for all of this, right, So I think it's it's vampire like
she's a vampire. Okay, Iforget if it was actually said. By
the way, this his little violof blood? Is this a little perfume
bottle readily available on Amazon. So, like, one of the things I
like about the way they do thisis that he's Jones ing he's also obviously

(29:19):
high. Yeah, like he lookslike he's an addict. But it's weird
to me that they don't kind ofcatch on that something's up or is it
just always like John's always fucking weird. I agree that it's weird that they
don't. They don't immediately catch on, like they do catch on eventually.
But yeah, that like Bear doesn'tsay anything about how weird he's acting because
he's he's obviously like tweaking. Iguess too. They're they're like, oh,

(29:44):
you're you're like super jazzed after theFountain Imperium, which does mention,
yes, that he got his mojoback from the Fountain Imperium. But the
other thing for me this spell inthe beginning with the pot brownies. Oh
hey, euphorium. Yeah whatever,Yeah, it's not a spell. He's

(30:04):
like, that's not how he doesspells, just just saying words. That's
he's he's off the reservation. He'stoo high. He's so high. So
I like how they do it throughthe perspective of John, but I don't
love Yeah, I agree that, like no one can tell. Yeah,
it's weird to me. I wantthem to be a little more suspicious.

(30:25):
I don't know, like if you'vehad a friend that is abusing substances,
like you know, when they're thatbad. Yeah, when that then when
it's yes, early on you don't, which is how we get to that
position, but like eventually you know, yeah, And I feel like he's
there at this point because it's justlike he's so reckless, he's so he's
so open about the use of themagic at least that it's like there's something

(30:51):
wrong going on, right, Likehe's using magic when he doesn't need to
use magic right exactly, which isnot usually his go to because match takes
work. Yeah exactly. So yeah, so that part of the John thing
is interesting. And then he alsolike performs this weird spell with all the
elements and gets them to Earth andit takes them to galaxy Alians and they're
all like, what the fuck?Yeah, I think it's fine. Favorite
little relationship beats in this episode though, making Spooner, Yes, that's the

(31:15):
best part of the episode is makingSpooner. I love it so much he
doesn't want to take his gloves off. I like too that when these they
you know, their magic didn'to theirbowling uniforms. And whatnot. He's got
a long sleeve shirt underneath there,Like it's almost like the Aliens. We're
like, well, he'll be morecomfortable with this, you know, it's
what would they be comfortable and wellit's this, Yeah, he'll want to

(31:36):
cover up. Yeah. So yeah, he's got that long sleeve shirt on
under his bowling shirt and he's wearinghis gloves. Yeah, and it's the
first time we've seen this in awhile. But he shows a little bit
of his his hand scars to Spoonerand does the like, my scars aren't
for everyone to see. I thinkit's interesting that they put the scars on
because it's also a means of coveringhis tattoos. Oh, that's funny.
I never thought about it. Solike, they don't have to put the

(31:56):
scar makeup on because he's always wearinglong sleeves and loves to hide as scars.
But it's actually tattoos. It's actuallytattoos. That's smart. I assume
frankly that all actors are tatted upand they're all just being covered like well
season one, Yeah, Batwoman,it's so weird to me what they chose
to cover and whatnot, Like thatshe has like stuff on her neck that
you can completely see despite all themakeup. Yeah, they like faded out

(32:21):
her like heartbeat EKG tattoo, butthey also I think the tattoos they ended
up covering are ones that have likeexisting ip because she has like a Ninja
Turtles tattoo on her arm. Ohyeah, but yeah, it's funny to
watch it and be like, shehas more tattoos than that. I was
like speaking of charm, the inconsistencyof covering up sometimes covering up the sisters

(32:42):
tattoos and sometimes being like, don'tknow, they haven't where six arms,
We'll have to recreate it on allof them. Yeah, exactly. So
I thought it was cute. It'sthe first time we've really reached back from
mixed like origin story, you know. While yeah, and of course Spooner
wouldn't know about that, right,Like the the ogs know about it,

(33:02):
but nobody else really doesn't and hedoesn't feel the need to explain it,
like when of his lines is like, you know, my scars aren't for
everyone or whatever, right, Andso I do like this idea that like
there's this like I think Mike hasbecome not so much a punchline, but
like his gruffness is funny and sortof that exposition of his gruffness and the

(33:24):
Rebecca Silver novels. But there's alsothis idea like he's actually a person and
he's got these like this baggage andpart of it exactly those scars, and
that's why he doesn't want to takehis loves off, which makes him worse
at bowling. And so Spooner's like, hey, I think I have a
way for you to do both. It's the whole thing too, where Ken,
why do I love make worry somuch? But it's like he's gruff

(33:45):
and he hates it and he's drunkor whatever. He's still here, Yeah,
just for the rest of the season, mind you, But but the
character is still here for a reason, Like he does feel that he belongs
here, and like there's damn thatyou have to understand as they are in
order to kind of belong on thisthis ship and outside of anyone else's time

(34:07):
or whatever. I also love theway that Mick gets written over the years.
I've mentioned this previously, but likehe has no interesting relationships with any
of the other men ever on theshow, but he has really great relationships
with the other women on the show. Yep, and here at the ass
end of season six is last season, we're building up a relationship with spooner
or two or at least you know, just like putting something in writing about

(34:28):
them too, write like they canconnect in ways, because like they're both
blunt. Yeah, exactly, Yeah, anyway, it's really cute. It's
cute to me that she figures outthe like let's just cut the few fingers,
the three fingers off with the glovesthat he just do? Yeah exactly.
Yeah, I didn't oh, Isaid, exactly, I didn't know
there's a bowling glove. In aminute, Okay, of course there is

(34:51):
like driving gloves and golfing gloves andshooting gloves that only have one finger.
Yeah, anyway, anything else tospeak to the ship glove, I mean,
just the cute Sarah and Ava stuff. I like, like Ama showing
up in that wedding dress and thenat the end Sarah being like, you
look beautiful and everything, but Ilove you too much to let you get

(35:13):
married in that. Yeah, thatis cute too. And Katie has such
a fun tone in like episodes likethis where it's just like she's not making
fun of it. She's not ignoringthings. She's just like to me,
it's like Sarah Lance has lived throughso much horseshit and not lived through so

(35:36):
much horshit and still come back thatshe's just like fair of the world and
bowling. All right, let's getsome nachos. I get. I love
this type of tone in anything. It's not character assassination for me. It's
just like she's been fucking through it, you know. Yeah. I think
if any character has adapted to thechanging tone over the seasons the best,

(35:59):
it's Sarah, right, which iswhy she's our captain for so long,
right, which is why the showhindes on her character so much, like
everybody else fits the tone, theyreally do, but she's evolved through it.
Do you have in another earth?Could you have imagined a version of
the show where, like at theend of season eight, she leaves and
then we get a season nine andor ten without her. I want to

(36:22):
say that if she left there wouldbe no more show. I do too.
I know that that's that's it's notnecessary for a show like this,
but I don't think I could pickanother character that could be the like the
the crux of where the you know, what the story turns on the way
that she has been I just don'tknow what they would have done. I

(36:43):
agree. It kind of feels tome where like they would talk about shows
like like Buffy or whatever, like, well, if Sarah Michelle Geller leaves,
we can still figure out something.I'm like, no, you can't.
Well, you know, it wasthe same thing with Supergirl. At
the end, the showrunners pitched aversion of season seven that wouldn't have are
in it. I have no ideathat's the same. Not that this is

(37:06):
Sarah Lance's Legends of Tomorrow, right, but it's like, I really don't
Once she's off that ship, Ithink we wrap up this story, you
know, right. I mean ifthis were like season one and two maybe
and Sarah de started to leave, then maybe you could have hung it off
of Ray. Sure, we hungthe whole show off a rip and we
got rid of him basically in seasontwo. Yeah, and it was fine.

(37:29):
Yeah, and it was totally fine. So yeah, but but by
the end, by this point,I don't know that you could could keep
going without Katie. Yeah. Ifeel exactly the same way. Yeah,
I would have loved one more seasonto give us a good rap. But
wouldn't we all have? And Iwould have been happy to see the show
end with with like her getting offthe wave rider, all deciding like this

(37:52):
is the end for all of us. Yeah, I could. I could
see an ending where, like Shana, our parents did kind of get we
shouldn't be greedy. We got sevenseasons of the show that shouldn't have lasted
past season one. But still Iagree with you, Like, I'm not
greedy in the sense that I'm I'mangry about the cancelation. I'm only a
little anoid about the ending of thelast episode. Just the groan, Yeah,

(38:14):
just the growan. But I do, I do appreciate that we got
more seasons of the show than wehad any right to have exactly, thank
you COVID. Yeah, yeah, whatcome I do for cheap anyway, Like
I'm talking about this because it's justlike, again, she's not taking anything
seriously, and you know, they'relosing the game or whatever, and she

(38:35):
talks to Buddy, and Buddy's like, bawling is about fucking beer and nachos,
And She's like, you're right, let's get some beer and nachos.
Let's just like hang out, turnsoff the turns off the scoreboard, and
at the same time Avon and Garyare tracking the score or is protecting the
score on the chalkboard in the captain'slounge there, which is really fun.

(38:57):
But yeah, it's fun for methat she's just like let me just like
infect my vibe this whole episode intoeveryone else, like just like we've been
through where relax, you're too whizzedup to bowl right now, have a
drink, feel a little bloated,You'll be better, you know exactly,
And like that that helps them relaxa little bit and like get through some

(39:19):
of their bullshit you know, yes, yes, And and then like you
talked about too, there's the funlegendcy thing of like well also at the
same time, unbeenounced to anything andnot really knowing what she's doing, Zorry,
He's just going to shoot at thething in the sky, which turns
out to be the hand of ourbowling rival. And it works out and
does help them because they win bylike one pin, right because Astra has

(39:42):
to get a strike on the lastframe, so like, yeah, it
comes out to the final frame andit's Astra who wins bowling granny style.
Yeah, it's bowling granny style,which is which I don't think I've ever
done. For some reason, anytimeI watch anything that's about like that has
bowling in it, I just wantto watch Aliquette Strike the Desni Channel original
movie. Oh I don't remember thatstarring My brain is blanking on his name,

(40:04):
but the guy who is now marriedto Katie loss Oh, that's funny.
I didn't realize that kut of hisan actor toot, I'm gonna be
Yeah, he's a Canadian actor. That guy, to me is the handsome
man on Katie Lutz's instagram, KyleSchmidt. That's that's his name. He's
got a bunch of stuff like,he's in tons of Canadian stuff. Okay,

(40:24):
great, Yeah, they got marriedin February of this year, and
I think he's in Da Vinci's Inquestto production. I don't think so.
He might be too young for presumablyhe's got time. I assume that show
is so going. That's what weshould cover A days whatever that was,
Yeah, to find an episode wherea legends on it. Anyway, the

(40:45):
Legends saved the day by one pin. You know, Ava and John and
Berard are allowed back into the bowlingalley. I love Buddy sensing great fear
in John basically yeah, bash yeah. He comes in and just kind of
speaks to him. He talks toJohn and it's just like, oh,

(41:07):
that's a lot of power. That'sgonna definitely kill him in a couple of
episodes here. I don't know,like I was. I assume you were
very aware, just like in thereal world, that like they're not going
to be allowed to do John Constantineanymore, so they're gonna get rid of
him. I don't know that Iwas aware. I mean I had I

(41:28):
was surprised he was on the showas long as he was. He starts
in season four, like more often, he starts in season three, Yes,
in a couple of episodes, andhe's in season four pretty much full
time. And then he's also inseason five, and he's also in season
six, And I'm just like, really, we're keeping Constantine on the show
that long? You weren't Were youtired of him? I wasn't tired of
him. I was just surprised.Yeah, okay, I was honestly shocked

(41:52):
that he like a that they couldfigure out a way for him to be
on the show. Without it feelingshoehorned, like and be that like he
wanted to stay on this ridiculous showthat Matt Ryan. Matt Ryan knows where
to find a paycheck. I guesshe does, and he does. He
does really like playing Constantine. Hehas also played him like you know,
in in animation and stuff in animatedmovies and Harley Quinn and all that,

(42:17):
Like it's just like it's also oneof those like I always loved that he
did the animated stuff too and cameback and did all this because stuff.
Because it's just like I feel like, despite how people might feel about that
NBC show, like he was offthe page constantly, like nobody had a
problem with him. It was nothis issue, and he was just like,

(42:40):
all right, Keanu Reeves isn't goingto come back to this anytime soon.
I'm going to stick with this, like I will be your one true
Constantine and like he is, Yeah, he's no, he's such a good
Constantine that like it's it's I'm gladthey found a way to keep him on
the show. But you know thefact that he managed and then play Constantine
not just in his one season ofa show, but also to show up

(43:04):
on Arrow and then a few yearslater on Legends, like they just kept
bringing him back. Like I'm reallyglad they did. I'm just speaks it
speaks to the performance. Yeah,I'm just surprised that they were able to
do it, because if you would, you know, said, hey,
in a couple of years, JohnConstant is going to be a main character
on this show. Like and thenby the way, they're gonna have to
write them off, and they're gonnado it well, like they're gonna they're

(43:27):
gonna buy that that this character doesn'tget a happy ending actually, and you're
gonna be fine with it, eventhough the show is a comedy at this
point exactly amazing to me, It'sreally and then we end with a team
picture. I'm sorry, like Ipicked the lightest episode of all for the
Bingo episode, but like this isone that truly again, I was sitting
here alone in my apartment buy myselfwatching this going like, why is this

(43:52):
the best show on television? Goddamn it? I love it? So
I feel like I think that sooften watching this show, like why is
it this? It doesn't no rightbeing this good? Why am I having
so much fun with and emotions.Yes, I mean it should be no
surprise from me coming from Lewis andClark. But you know, it's still

(44:14):
like, this is the stuff Iresponded to. Do not take the world
seriously, to take the character seriously, right, Like, I feel like
we need a more TV like that. That's like it's really good character work
without taking it too seriously. Right. Anyway, anything to discuss any further
or should we get to games?I think we should just get to games.
Let's have some fun the way theway the Legends had fun. Yeah,

(44:37):
you're right. Let's get a fewbeers, let's get some nachos,
and then we'll come back and dogames. Okay, perfect, great,
all right, so Tricia, Yes, legendary moment. Legendary moment. Mixed
gloves. Oh cute. The wholeconversation. It's my favorite part of this
episode, honestly, is the conversationabout his gloves and how his cars aren't
for everyone and giving him the bowlinggloves so we can still keep him on.

(44:58):
It's just great. It's so good. Yep, can't fight that.
For me, it is the trippyfun we did it visual of Sarah throwing
the bowling but like rolling the bowlingball out the door of galaxy lanes,
following the bowling ball into the MilkyWay galaxy and letting get like em big
in and get in the right sizeand become Earth and get like lights and

(45:21):
clouds and stuff. It doesn't evenin bigon. It just kind of like
sits in the right place next tothe moon. Yeah, and then lights
and clouds app My favorite is themoon like foom, Yeah, you're right,
the moon does react to it atthe zooms in like oh. I
don't know if you've ever seen theCorridor Crew channel on YouTube, but very
talented vis effects artists that like we'llgo into like the effects from like big

(45:46):
movies and that type of thing, and also do their own ship. They
recently did like what if the Universallogo was real? What if any time
they had to do a universal movie, like these giant fucking letters showed up
just above Earth And it's kind oflike that type of thing. Turns out,
by the way, if they hungaround for too long Earth destroyed,

(46:07):
they affect the gravity spoil it.And that doesn't even spoil the end of
that video. It's very good, but it's just like it reminded me that
of like, oh, yeah, what if all this bullshit, this imagery
that we see that to be realfor a second. It's cool Anyway,
I've talked too much. Every yelledfor me. Also Sarah for trusting your
team and buying a random nachos forme. It's it's the envy of the

(46:27):
Spooner's gun, the middle finger gun, the gun that goes from zero to
middle finger. Yep, I wishthey showed us the dial of middle Finger,
but I guess they couldn't. Theyprobably couldn't yet sensor stuff. All
right, you want to play somecards to save the timeline? Yes,
please, let's do it. Youyou cleaned up in this episode. I
felt very oddly uninspired in this episodethat I love. I think I've benefited

(46:54):
from being the first one to writemine down because sometimes we'll do it.
It is fair. Yeah, whenlike I'm the first one to fill out
the thing, I'm like, oh, there's gotta be something about you know,
the pop brownies or whatever. Yeah, there's gotta be something about the
dial, the dial the spear ofdestiny or whatever. I'll put them into.

(47:14):
Yeah. So like sometimes when you'rethe first one to write them down,
like I'll be like, oh crap, I was gonna do something about
that. I'll do something else andthen I'll come up with like a less
funny one or something. So Ithink I benefited from that a little bit.
But also I did feel inspired whilewatching this episode, mostly from the
camping all right lame out scenarios thedial and Spooner's gun goes from zero to
blank, and all Ava's wedding dressneeds to be perfect is blank. Speaking

(47:37):
of that quote, Gideon, we'regonna need some blank and Buddy senses in
New Power is both great and blank, and then solutions slash people. I
have a secret vasectomy. The onlything that those people were good for the
camping people. It is so fuckingfunny, bowling for Earth's give it the

(48:00):
middle finger and leaving hell to bowlGranny style excellent. I also edited in
underbaked pop brownies and a team photoperfect Bengo cards. We really didn't have
much. We don't have shit,so I put one down here that I
wasn't sure about. I almost wantto fight you on it, okay,
but let's discuss, okay. Iwas like, is this gross magic?

(48:23):
And it's just the thing I wasthinking about was the first team that loses,
the Pinkillers getting Thanos snapped and beingdusted into the bowling ball. And
I've rewatched it and I'm like,it's not that, it's not it's actually
kind of pretty. I was thinkingmore the Constantine for elements spell. Oh,

(48:45):
when he like puts mud on hisface and stuff, I'll take it.
Because that's when I had to explainthe Bengo card to your girlfriend.
I'm trying not to mention in everysingle episode, but whatever, we're terrible
with that. It's fine. Thisis this is the fun to listen to
a podcast. I don't know.We have lives everywhere everyone. We're not
just podcasters. We have lives. We have lives. Yeah. So yeah,

(49:07):
we were watching it together and Ihad to explain the gross magic Bengo
square during massa sine did you showher like, well, at one point
recipute and I didn't. I didn'twant to talk about reciputing in a jar
at that particular moment, but Iwill because right after we finished this episode,
she was like, I really likedit. We could watch another one.

(49:28):
Oh that's cute. See, okay, that's what my wife says too.
She's always like I always feel badbecause I'm coming from Lewis and Clark,
where like it was a she enjoysLewis and Clark. It was a
little bit more of a slog. It's not as good as show blah blah
blah. But like every time wewatched a lesson, she's like, I'll
watch another. Oh cool, allright, Like this isn't this isn't a
chore for you. That's nice. Some of them are plotty ones, not

(49:51):
as fun because we're watching them outof order, but that's nothing going on,
Like it was super fun. Yeah, when you have to pause a
million times and be like fuck,so three episode to go. Actually,
that's that's not real, Mick,That's that's corona in. Yeah. All
right, well, like shortest episodeof this podcast possible, but tri sure
are we ready to roll? Let'sroll? Okay, do you have the
episode? Guy? I do,so this is my turn? Alright rolling

(50:14):
four season season one it looked likea seven. Oh that's why that's why
they were supposed season one. Allright, there are uh sixteen episodes in
season one? Back to it allright? Well, hopefully not peep beyond
the curtain listeners. We discussed howour season of this podcast is going to
end, so hopefully we don't getsixteen. So let's see where we go.

(50:35):
Eighteen. Let's roll because there isno eighteen one, ten, one
ten alright, so season one, episode ten is going to be Progeny.
It is the proton episode, thepro Degaton episode that can we kill baby
future Hitler. The team is dividedover killing a fourteen year old boy who

(50:57):
will grow to be a powerful allyfor Sabin. Wow, okay, there
you go. She's also I thinkthe episode of the Dual State is in.
Yeah, she's like in charge ofthe future Museum. Yeah, she's
she's like Ray Palmer's great great greatgreat great grandniece, right, because like
the Adam technology is kind of likeit's stark eyes in the future, yes,
being used to create sentinels. Andthen the statue that looks kind of

(51:20):
like Ray is actually his brother. What Oh, I don't remember that.
Look forward to that. Everybody's brother. He hit a brother. Apparently he
has a brother we've never seen andwe'll never see. No, he just
has a fiance that's dead. Whatare you talking about? This is a
brother? Oh? Okay, thisisn't a bingo card. This isn't in
anything, but like, if youhad to guess, do you think he's

(51:42):
going to mention his fiance? Uh? No, I don't think it's either.
No. Alright, well, eggon our face if he does.
Huh basically cool. Well back toseason one a B. Thank you everyone
for my very indulgent, very veryplot light bingo special. I hope everybody
had fun. I'm guessing so sinceyou guys voted for this in majority,

(52:05):
but yeah, this has been fun. I'm so glad we introduced this game
because the victory feels really good.I can't wait to get one. Hey,
quick reminder, everybody, our familyhave always hold on to podcasts out
there are wonderful and doing great thingswith like always on This, Superman Loves,
I Know Arrows Back and you knowall that. Go check everybody out.
