Speaker 1 (00:00):
A long time ago in a galaxy far far away.
Speaker 2 (00:36):
Welcome to Always Hold On Star Wars, because just what
the Internet needed was another podcast talking about Star Wars.
I'm one of your hosts, keV, and today I am
joined only by one. Unfortunately, Uh, Joey is out sick.
He's allowed that we have a great, great PTO here
if they Always Hold On to network, So he is
fully getting paid for his episode. Don't you guys worry.
He's at home wresting right now for the holiday and
(00:58):
he's just trying to get better, get well soon. Hopefully
we do justice on this episode. But of course someone
who did not use their PTA it's Chris.
Speaker 1 (01:08):
I'm here, I'm here. How are we doing?
Speaker 2 (01:10):
Yeah? Don't you love the Always Hold On two network?
Like dental plans and like medical care.
Speaker 1 (01:15):
Benefits, are we keep us here?
Speaker 2 (01:16):
Yeah? Dude, the benefits are why we do this. Another
reason why we do this is because we're gonna talk
about Star Wars, which can be fun or challenging. But
right now I'm having a lot of fun. How about you.
Speaker 1 (01:28):
I'm always having fun. Some of the you know from
going on always a London small Ville, some of some
of the worst episodes to watch or some of the
most fun to talk about. Yes, yes, no, back, don't
worry about that here with Skeleton crews so far, but yeah,
in general, because.
Speaker 2 (01:45):
It's it's it's it's it's quite like, I'm just kind
of impressed. This was a fun experience for for our
fourth episode watch because we tried something that two very
old people. According to Joey, we figured out how to
actually watch the episode together at the same time.
Speaker 1 (02:00):
Yeah, because we're in different states, different time zones.
Speaker 2 (02:02):
Yeah, and uh if we sat down and watched it
and had a good time joking about it. We're also
watch a Superman trailer, but that's another topic topic. But uh, yeah,
we got to sit down and watch this, and man,
you and I, like people don't really know. I probably
probably do. Like we you know, we're in different states.
We've only seen each other a handful of times when
you and I, you and I hung out one of
(02:23):
the first times you watched Rogue one and we talked
how much fun it was to watch Star Wars with someone. Dude,
I missed watching Star Wars with other Star Wars fans.
Speaker 1 (02:32):
You get to watch it with your kids and everything.
Then nobody wants to watch this with me. It's just
me watching it by myself and then getting to talk
to you guys about it, so for me it was
extra fun. Yeah, watch it with a fan.
Speaker 2 (02:43):
This This has been a bit a good time because
I watched it with you. Then I went back and
watched it with my boys. And Solomon's still in it,
although his favorite character is no longer Whim, who he
believes he actually is. It's it's Neil and I can't
wait to talk about the episode. I'm sure we'll get
into it. I think it's time to go into the
Uh yeah, the cusple un down right.
Speaker 1 (03:00):
Let's get into this episode. Castle Rundown, all right, let's
go for it. Skeleton Crew Episode four, Can't Say I
Remember No at Aten was released on December seventeen, twenty
twenty four. It was written by Christopher Ford and John
(03:22):
Watts and directed by Daniel Kwan and Daniel Shiner. The
crew use Kim's coordinates to arrive at what they believe
to be at Aten. The planet turns out to resemble
a war torn version of it, and later they learn
that they're actually on at Akron, one of the sister planets.
Jod stays on the ship with SM thirty three while
(03:45):
the kids venture out. They run into soldiers who identify
themselves as Troix who have been at war with the
hattens Attans who have stolen their eopies. Neil befriends a
young girl soldier named Hana, whose father, General Stra insists
that the children be treated like adults. Neil does not
take to the violent lifestyle and prefers a more humane approach,
(04:07):
just just saying sorry, yeah. The kids are to aid
the Troits in getting their eyopies back, but Jod and
SM thirty three buy them back as a reward. They
are directed to the Fallen Sanctum, which resembles the Supervisor's
tower on at Atten. The crew find that it contains
the coordinates to other similar planets, but at Aten's has
(04:28):
been scratched out. SM thirty three reveals that he destroyed it,
but his memory has been wiped. Fern orders him to remember,
and he reveals that at Atten is where the former
captain hid his treasure. Suddenly, SM thirty three attacks the
group as part of an order from the previous captain.
Jod turns him off, and Neil faints after helping save
(04:48):
his friends.
Speaker 2 (04:52):
All I need to add about the Kensler run down
is if Neil is not as popular as Grogu by
the end of the show, then I am going to
lose all faith in him anony right. I need Neil plushies,
I need Neil on lunchboxes. I need Neil everywhere and
target like Grogu, because he is vastly becoming the cute
of Star Wars, lovable character I've ever seen in my life.
Speaker 1 (05:12):
He's so quotable too. He's got like there's dust in
my trunk and all we need to t shirts we
need of him with all his quotes.
Speaker 2 (05:20):
The episode was a tight what thirty minutes, which typically
is a is an issue, but this show, for what
it's doing, just doesn't seem to bother me that it's
a little short of some episodes. Honestly, I just want
more of it, So I don't think there was anything
to be missed in the kel run Now what about you?
Speaker 1 (05:34):
No, it was funny because as soon as he fainted,
we both were like, Oh, that's how it's gonna end.
That's how it's gonna end. It was cute. I this
is going to be a Neil love fest for for
some reason.
Speaker 2 (05:46):
You guys just aren't feeling Neil. This is not the
episode of yet. I'm so sorry, guy.
Speaker 1 (05:51):
No, we learned a lot of interesting nuggets of information
about the worlds that they live in. So yeah, let's
get into it. Let's give her certain points of view.
Speaker 2 (06:02):
Let's do it, Lou, You're going.
Speaker 1 (06:03):
To find that many of the truths we cling to
it depends Rickle on our own point of view. Yeah.
So this episode starts out coming out of hyperspace to
the planet that they believe is at Atten. Yeah, and
John now Nowood says run on its Ghost or runner
its Ghost. You knew what that was, but that was
a reference to.
Speaker 2 (06:23):
Yeah, he's a it's it's the way the closed captioning
spelled it is different. But that gentleman's last name. He
is a comic book artist that has had a pretty
pretty substantial running in the Star Wars comics would Marvel. So, uh,
that's the only like, because when I heard that name,
I was like, I've never heard it before. Let me
google it, and then first thing that comes up with
it is his art of Star Wars in the comic series.
So I thought I was a little col touched to that.
(06:45):
I didn't look deep into like what their kumb book
running was to see if they like pull things from it.
I don't think they would because the first image I
saw had Darth Vader on it, so I don't think
it'll be that. But yeah, they point out a little
comic artists. That's cool.
Speaker 1 (06:57):
Is he still alive or like, is his ghost actually
being referenced?
Speaker 2 (07:00):
My god, I did not think about that. I would
hope not. I mean I would hope he's alive. I
hope that actually referencing.
Speaker 1 (07:06):
We're not gonna tell you whether he's alive or not.
We're not gonna be like Joey and have someone killed
off the folder. Actually, yeah, that's a nod to a
previous episode of our show.
Speaker 2 (07:15):
If anybody yeah that that episode's ghost you could say, no, no,
they land on the planet, and you and I are like,
do they land on Earth? Because it just looked like
her It was like a playground and stuff.
Speaker 1 (07:28):
Yeah, it's like a little like a swing said, and
you got the spinny thing that not.
Speaker 2 (07:33):
A fairis will? Oh god, where are we that old?
We forgot that's cold.
Speaker 1 (07:36):
I forget what it's called. But I'll just remember we
used to like have everyone to hang on for their
dear life and have somebody run around so we fly off.
Speaker 2 (07:43):
Yeah, it was it was a it was a medical
bill waiting to happen for our parents.
Speaker 1 (07:49):
I went to Wikipedia after this episode got some like
detailed information that I don't know how they know it,
but it fills in some of the gaps on some
of the stuff that we're seeing this episodes. So I'll
kind of like sprinkle it in. Okay, But the first
one sure is something we've been like talking about as
we review the episodes. We want to know, like what
the ship is. Yeah, right now, Joey's on PTO, so
we should be nice to him. But I think he
should have known this because it's Legos that gives us
(08:12):
the answer to what the ship's name is. Apparently, so
apparently there's a Lego out of it, and that's how
they know. It's called the Onyx Cinder.
Speaker 2 (08:18):
Okay, that's cool name. Yeah, yeah, never heard of it.
Speaker 1 (08:21):
No, neither the source being like the Lego nod for it.
So no, Joey, I guess you're six, So it's okay,
but slacking a little bit there, but yeah, so that's
the name of the ship. They get there, and some
of the heart of this show is just like the
interactions between the kids in real situations, yea. And they
(08:42):
get this new planet and it's a war torn planet,
like anybody who gets off that ship and looks at
who's going to go running out into that exploring and
these kids decide they're going to go and leave the
adults behind, like you stay of the ship.
Speaker 2 (08:54):
Yeah no, Captain fern who you know renounces her title
by end of this episode. But Captain fern.
Speaker 1 (09:00):
Oh, she takes it back up again though, oh yeah, oh.
Speaker 2 (09:02):
Yeah, yeah, because because because when Wim like talks her up. No,
So Captain Fernie tells sme to keep to keep the babysit.
John is like activating babysit. Come on, baby, come here.
And so they're walking off and they're going around there,
(09:22):
and Neil is the only one with like some common sense,
like this is scary, we shouldn't be doing this. As Dusty,
I can't breathe, my trunk is weezing. I immediately thought,
like Lord of the Flies, because a bunch of like
war torn kids show up like yelling at them with
heavy French accents.
Speaker 1 (09:39):
I love Whim's first direction too. Oh my god, are
you guys the kids finding the adults on this planet
for control of the planet. Yeah, like a kid would
think about it, is like, yeah, what about kids rose
up and attack the like the parents for control of
the planet. Yeah, then we wouldn't have to go to
bed at eight. We could eat whatever we want.
Speaker 2 (09:58):
Yeah, no, minds me. I forgot the name. There's a movie,
the old kids movie I guess was a kid's movie.
Think about it now. Maybe it's called house Arrest where
the kids block their parents in a basement.
Speaker 1 (10:11):
I don't know, have you ever?
Speaker 2 (10:13):
Okay, so there's a movie out there where these with
these these these kids, these brothers and a sister. I
believe their mom and dad are constantly bickering and arguing
and they're about to get divorced. So they have the
great idea to put their parents down in the basement
and lock them in there until they sort out their issues.
Speaker 1 (10:29):
You know, I feel like I've seen this before. That
sounds familiar.
Speaker 2 (10:31):
But then all the other kids in the neighborhoods are like, yeah,
our parents have problems too, and they put all the
parents down and then they're just running the house upstairs.
Speaker 1 (10:38):
That's awesome. I got it. It does sound very familiar.
We have to figure out.
Speaker 2 (10:41):
Yeah, it was like, I don't know why I watch
it as a kid, I thought, but it was. I
thought it was a fun kids movie. But that made
me think about something that women would say, like, yeah,
clearly that's that's an exciting idea to have no parents.
Speaker 1 (10:51):
Around back when they first get there too and they're
about to go, they think it's home. Yeah, and whim's like,
just when it was starting to get fun.
Speaker 2 (10:58):
I get it. I get it.
Speaker 1 (10:59):
This episode like a wake up call for everyone. Like
they've been kind of like skating. There hasn't been any
real trouble, but then they're like about to get I
mean skipping ahead. They're about to get marched out into
in the middle of a battle, and then yeah, that
they were gonna die. So it becomes a little more
real for them, and I think that will carry through
the few Oppositey we'll still have the fun Hyjenks and stuff,
but I think they'll start to take it a little
more serious.
Speaker 2 (11:20):
I think this episode is much needed. It's a little
dark when you like, it's not presented as super dark,
but if you think about it for a moment. It's
a pretty dark episode, yeah, about them going to like
what they think is home. It's one of these other
secret planets. It's war torn, is destroyed, and as you said,
the adults there treat the kids as adults, not because
they want to, because they don't have a choice, because
they're in a lifelong war. These kids know nothing but war.
Speaker 1 (11:41):
We got the Montagues and the Capulets, so.
Speaker 2 (11:45):
All they're doing is just fighting. And of course you
have these it's very suburbanized children who don't have any
kind of understanding of like danger and threats. They're just like, yeah,
my life. Like Neil talks about his first fight with
his little brother. Yeah, it's like and he beat me.
He's like yeah.
Speaker 1 (12:01):
They talk about wars like well we play slap ball.
Speaker 2 (12:04):
Yeah, so you know, like it that that's the premise
of the episode. The kids kind of seeing that, oh,
this may not all be fun and games, even though
they've had some run ins with pirates and they were
like you know, you know, they did, they did escape
a few episodes ago.
Speaker 1 (12:17):
But this is like this is like their home and
an alternate version of it.
Speaker 2 (12:21):
Yeah, it's the multiverse.
Speaker 1 (12:23):
This can hit home to them, like that that was
when they walk in and they see that that one
house where there's like a tree growing in it, that's
that's a set from one of their houses. So they've
seen that house before, so it's like, this is my
house if there was war all around. So it really
starts it to hit home for all of them more
except maybe KB, who seems to KB just seems to
be like very god with the flow for everything. She
(12:43):
has fun with the kids. She's serious enough to hotwire
the turbo lift. She's solid.
Speaker 2 (12:50):
I ast you. At one point when when the bad
guys were coming, she was standing up staring looking. I
was like, is she like a droid? Like she just
she acts very robotic a lot. Yeah, and like I
you know, I get it. She's like the data character,
Like I understand that. It seemed like these planets, these
at planets are kind of like similarly designed, because they
were like, oh, this is our school and our planet
(13:11):
and it's like a barracks for you guys here, you know,
like it was like they do rations and like all
these things. So it was just this real like dark situation.
And of course Captain Fern because she deserves to be
called Captain Fern the general. It's like, oh, you guys
are fighters in so let's prove your worth and then
you can help us fight his battle. Then we'll tell
you where the location is. It's apparently very dangerous. You're
(13:35):
just you're gonna go prove your bravery. You're gonna lead
us into battle. Whim's like, hey, so we'll just win
the battle and then they'll take us to the fallen sanctum.
Speaker 1 (13:43):
Was like, yeah, it's so easy, right.
Speaker 2 (13:45):
They have They have a little montage them shooting guns
horribly and missing because they're kids and they're not soldiers.
Speaker 1 (13:51):
And so you gets a KB who just nails them all.
Speaker 2 (13:53):
Yeah. Yeah, because she's because she's not human, I don't
think man like. She's just really good. And Neil the
entire episode. Guys, if you haven't heard me fall in
love with Neil over the course of these first three episodes,
it was solidified in this one.
Speaker 1 (14:07):
Neil's the best. Neil's the best.
Speaker 2 (14:09):
Although he looks the least human, seems feels the most
human out of all of the characters. Yeah, he's just
like golly o, Like he's just he knows what he's
not and he's not trying to be anything he isn't,
and I love that he's Also.
Speaker 1 (14:22):
He also unders understands bigger concepts, like that he knows
that the fighting is bad. He knows that marching these
these kids out to lead a battle is not right. Yeah,
he knows that. Just these two kids on the ground,
like he gets food, and you know, he's got to
be hungry because they're not eating well on that chip
or anything. No, he sees these two kids that are
hungry and he gives him his food. Yeah, he's just
an all around good dude.
Speaker 2 (14:43):
They literally like, Okay, look, you guys are gonna lead
the like scout party. You guys are going to walk
forward into like seemingly.
Speaker 1 (14:49):
Like the abyss the middle of a battle.
Speaker 2 (14:53):
Yeah, I know, like you guys can lead the way.
And of course the kids like, no, thanks, you to
want to, but they're quickly shown like no, you're going to.
And Neil is the friend he befriends Hannah or Hannah
Hanah Hanah's yeah, She's like I'll go with you, which
at first I was like, Okay, the dad is clearly
a bad guy, but then I was realizing after his
(15:14):
daughter agreed to go, He's like, fine, I was like,
oh no, this is just their way, like this is
just their culture, which is even more sad. And so
his daughter's like, I'll go with Neil because you know,
you're scared, and Neil's like, I'm terrified, and he's like, well,
sometimes being terrified is okay when you're with a friend.
And first he's like a friend, and you know, he's
like excited that this person, says a friend and they're
walking off and he says the cutest thing ever. He's like,
(15:36):
it is better with a friend, but as a friend,
I just want to say, this isn't right. As he's
like slowly marching into battle with a gun, this little
blue elephant kid, it's a little.
Speaker 1 (15:49):
Calf over find out later on that gun doesn't work.
Speaker 2 (15:53):
It doesn't work. It was like Afghanistan and O eight
for me anyway, no man. So so they go out
there and you're, you know, sort of nervous for me, like,
what what's gonna happen?
Speaker 1 (16:06):
Do we have any real fear that something's gonna happen
to one of the kids.
Speaker 2 (16:09):
I don't think, Like Neil get like a like a
blaster in the head, you know, like like like you
know this isn't the penguin after all, you know, but like,
you know, its just just like I had a level
of concern, like, oh no, I don't even want these
kids to be exposed to anything bad because I like
them and their kids and they're sweet. And Fern was
finally starting to realize like she's in overhead, she doesn't
know what she's doing. Whim, I think had a moment
(16:33):
to realize, I'm like, oh, this is kind of for real.
Speaker 1 (16:35):
Well, I think I think for Whim, you get those
moments of realness with him when he's pushed, like when
he's not just having fun with it, he does he
does kind of serious down like when they're on the
ship and he was saying it's not all his fault
and figuring out like he didn't really he never really
questioned Fern being the leader. It was just more like
I want to be the leader. But he didn't, you know,
(16:56):
he knows it.
Speaker 2 (16:57):
Feels, yeah, it feels like a little boy trying to
be cool.
Speaker 1 (17:00):
But you know, no, yeah, And when we when we
get to later on, when Ferne has her breakdown moment,
she realized, like, I have no idea what I'm doing.
I almost got everyone killed, it's not. This isn't a
game anymore. And he he looks and goes like, you know,
it's almost like you might not, but you're better than
you think. You're amazing, for I wouldn't have gotten us
this far.
Speaker 2 (17:18):
Yeah, And she and he's right and is right.
Speaker 1 (17:21):
It's it's so powerful just to have someone believe in you. Yes,
for him to say like, you'll figure something out, And
she's like, you can't just say I'll figure it out
and I will. That's not what he's doing. It's like
he truly believes that you will come to that you
will get to that point. And she does. She realizes
the whole, the whole setup, that that Smee has been
on this planet before with his previous captain. He's the
(17:42):
one who cleared out the coordinates to at Atten, which
they thought they were going to get here. Wait, let's
talk so let's talk about this for a second.
Speaker 2 (17:49):
Yah. I gonna say yeacause right now at the point
where we're getting to John, when we talk about sme
their interactions as this was happening to him.
Speaker 1 (17:55):
Yeah, we'll circle back to John and Smith and then
talk about Jod a lot, because Jod. Yeah, but so
all the the these planets, so according to Wikipedia, these
are called the Jewels of the Old Republic. There are
nine planets in all of this. We learned about six
of them in this episode. So there's at Aten and
(18:16):
at Akron, which we've been to both of those now yep.
And then they see coordinates on in that fallen sanctum,
the Supervisor's tower where they go up to for at
At two A two at Aricia at oravin at an
at a coota And apparently there's nine of them and
(18:37):
at Aten is now currently the only one that hasn't
been I guess destroyed. So I said before, like maybe
they were just discovered and they exist now, but like
these were destroyed. Look at Akron, it's a mess.
Speaker 2 (18:48):
Yeah, and you can find us at always hold on
a small side. Yeah, no, he's yeah. So that like that,
that little detail about that is is interesting. And you
you mentioned Fern had figured out I guess the secret
of Smith and why he has been up to this
(19:10):
point saying how does he phrase it? I can't say,
he says, I can't say anything about ad Aden or.
Speaker 1 (19:17):
Yeah, I can't say, I remember no ad Adden.
Speaker 2 (19:19):
Yeah, I can't say I remember no Ad Adams and.
Speaker 1 (19:21):
Finally clicks because he's been there before. It finally clicks
to Fern that oh he knows it, but he can't
say he's been droids do what they're told.
Speaker 2 (19:32):
Yeah, And I love that that was the way he
said it every time he said it, the same inflection,
so like you end up being a catchphrase of his
and like that's why you stuck with you. I thought
it was really funny because it actually answered the question
for me. Earlier in the episode, after the kids are
gone off, we shoot back to John for a second
at the chip and he is looking through stuff and
he finds those old Republic daties. Yeah, but he finds
(19:55):
he finds the money.
Speaker 1 (19:57):
Yeah, the dateries.
Speaker 2 (19:58):
That's what when yeah, and uh of course Smee finds him.
He's like fife and like you know, starts, you know,
choking them up and beating them up, and everything's like hey,
calm down, calm down, and he's like, uh, he asked
him about at at and he's like he says this
catch phrase and then he's like, well, I'll help you
remember it, and I'll help John your memory. And they
start walking out of the ship and he's like, you
remember this, you remember this? And as Smee's talking, he's like,
(20:20):
I remember those so those those warriors too. And he's
talking and I'm like, did he not catch that? And
then suddenly, out of the fog, a bunch of these
hatons or hattings, yeah, come out and John, he says,
he's the funniest thing. He's like, he just gets on
his knees. He's like, you know what, fun just shoot me, man,
just so tired to shoot me. And we cut away
(20:40):
and the whole time we're like, oh man, how's he
gonna get out of this? How's he gonna go out
of that? And now we're back to the part where
the kids are walking into battle. Who comes through the
smoke but Jo John, and he's he's like, hey, oh yeah,
are these your uh these your animals? And we're like, okay,
how did he get away from all these guys? How
did he get the nimals back? How did he save
(21:01):
the day? And he's like, yeah, I just apparently he's
got at the bargain and I just gave him some money,
which was the kid's money, which they seem to be
upset about. But you and I talked about that. That's
a dumb reason to be upset when you thought you're gonna.
Speaker 1 (21:11):
Die, right, that was your that was your lunch money
for the week. It's not like he gave.
Speaker 2 (21:15):
Yeah, he didn't. He didn't drain your bank account. Man,
he took a couple He took a twenty spot out
of your wallet to save your life.
Speaker 1 (21:21):
I'm willing to bet he didn't even give them all away.
Speaker 2 (21:23):
Probably not. And uh. And so the the generals like, oh,
thank you for saving us. What do you need He's like, well,
and this is where our first character question of him
came apart, came up. And he's like, what do you need?
And he's like, I just need them, those those kids,
And like we're like, man, he could have bargained and
asked for anything.
Speaker 1 (21:43):
He could have like just left.
Speaker 2 (21:45):
You could Yeah, he'd like, I'm good, I need to go.
I'll take the ship and leave. But no, you brought
the kids with me.
Speaker 1 (21:50):
Now where these kids clearly can't offer him what he needs, Like,
they're not going to get him to add they don't
know where to go. Yeah, they don't. They don't. They
don't know better than what it is. And now they've
gotten to this planet that's very similar and struck out again.
I think we're at the point where if he was
any kind of a bad guy, he could have just
cut his losses, you know, took the ship and tried
(22:11):
to figure it out on his own or whatever. Now
that he knows it exists, he could left the kids.
But clearly he's got a thing. He's got an agreement
with them. He actually does care about them. He's looking out.
He's a good dude.
Speaker 2 (22:20):
I think, I hope so, because he's better not be
the penguin anyway. But they get they get to this
you know, supervisor's room, and like, like you said me,
Fern finally locks the code where she's like, hey, I
need you to tell me everything you actually know about
ad adm And he's like, oh, I do remember ad Adam.
And then he's like, I also remember that I was
told if anyone ask about ad Aden, I should rip
(22:43):
them apart limb from limb. And then he becomes a monster. Yeah,
and of course everyone's terrified. They're running away, but two
heroes emerged, one the least likely but the happiest to
see Neil leave him alone, dude. And then and then
(23:05):
Smee starts marching towards Neil, and he's actually he doesn't
say no, but he does do a scream, doesn't.
Speaker 1 (23:10):
He He doesn't make a noise on a thing. Oh,
I was looking for it, he doesn't. He just kind
of like.
Speaker 2 (23:17):
What a what a? What a man? So as SMI
is marching towards him, John runs behind him and apparently
hits his off switch, which seems like a bad design,
only to.
Speaker 1 (23:30):
Say that if he's a battle draining, you could just
flip an off switch.
Speaker 2 (23:33):
Yeah, and he loses. Always go for the off switch.
But Smee of course shuts down. As he's falling onto
Neil kneels on the ground. Shmi is like like an
inch from his face, and he just shows him breathing heavily.
Speaker 1 (23:45):
He just faints.
Speaker 2 (23:48):
And they're like, oh no. And then just for the
kids and and the concern, thirty seven year old, he
fainted and then the episode ends. Because I was like,
if anything happened to Neil, they've been they're gonna be
a scre watching that kid's trunk. Okay, I'm better not. It's
his little corduroy overalls, better not be dirty, Okay, his
little comb over bet and I have a hair out
(24:08):
of place. I love this kid.
Speaker 1 (24:10):
You need to protect Meal at all costs.
Speaker 2 (24:12):
Protect Meal at all costs. I love this kid. But yeah,
like the episode ends and we're like, okay, they did
not They still don't have the coordinates too at at
because it was destroyed, right.
Speaker 1 (24:21):
Right, But they have all the other ones.
Speaker 2 (24:23):
So they're probably gonna plant the other ones to try
to Oh man, that'd be fun. We can see different
versions of these app planets what they're like, Yeah, so.
Speaker 1 (24:31):
Are we going to go to everyone and try and say, Okay,
maybe if the supervisor's tower here has coordinates to the
other ones, maybe yeah, other towers will have it too.
Speaker 2 (24:41):
This feels like a uh and I say I say
this in a good way because Dally, when you say
this comment, it sounds like I'm insulting it. This feels
like a video game quest. Yes, you need to go
to every planet to cot to complete the puzzle to
get home. It feels like a but also like said,
these are kids, is like that kind of tracks with me,
Like kids should go on journeys like this like this.
If it's like I'm watching the Goonies but Star Wars,
(25:01):
I'm down.
Speaker 1 (25:02):
And then you get there and you get betrayed by
someone you thought was your friend.
Speaker 2 (25:05):
D oh see, yeah yeah he did this time. No,
I'm just like, I'm just I'm still worried that, Like Jod, Like,
I feel like by the end of the show, he's
going to like be an obvious good person, but I
feel like there's gonna be that one last moment where
he kind of throws us for a swerve and he's like, oh,
I'm not gonna do it, Like, I just I don't know.
Ju Law is very great in this. He seems to
(25:26):
me having a ton of fun. All the kids. You've
been showing me tiktoks to the kids hanging out offset
and they act, yeah like they're they're amazing actors, the
amazing little kid. Like, I don't know, this show is
just working for me.
Speaker 1 (25:37):
So what do we think? What do we think is
gonna happen next? So? Yeah, are they gonna go to
all the other planets? Are they gonna like go back
to Kim and say, here are all these cornets, where's
the where's the missing one? And the Pirate's gonna catch
up to them?
Speaker 2 (25:50):
Yeah, the pirates are still a problem because they are
looking for them. You don't just they don't know about
these planets.
Speaker 1 (25:55):
On those on those pirates if you're not gonna bring
them back at some point. Yeah. But and there's also
unanswered questions too, like why why are they still covered off?
Who was the original captain? Did something happen to him?
Is he's still around somewhere?
Speaker 2 (26:08):
Yeah, No, it's funny. You were like, they wouldn't do that,
and I remembered I think it was Mandalorian. Remember that
pirate that that like green alien pirate that look like
a swamp creature. Yes, And we were like, dude, I
can't wait to see him again, and we never did.
Speaker 1 (26:22):
Yeah, maybe we never see Arkle again.
Speaker 2 (26:26):
Yeah. I don't think they'll go back to Kim, because
you know, she she betrayed them. They probably can't. The
kids may want to, but but I don't think, uh uh,
John would. I think they're gonna have to just take
accordinance to another like take a pick of a planet,
maybe you know, one of the ones they named out,
and hopefully we'll get to see that planet and maybe
it's just as bad, maybe it isn't, maybe it's bad
(26:48):
in a different way. I'm just curious to see the
different iterations of these planets, because it seems like at
Adam it's the best of it. And now I'm interested
to why it's the best of it? You know, why
are they the one that still okay after all the
others got destroyed. We now know for sure that a
pirate captain of some sort left a pretty valuable treasure
on that planet. Is that why that planet is still protected?
(27:10):
Because the treasure is something more valuable than just like credits,
you know, like I don't know.
Speaker 1 (27:14):
So then let's talk about that. The question is is
there a treasure too? Because these plants are called the
jewels the Old Republic, they all work toward the great work.
And if you ask, like when fern KB and Neil
about is there treasure in your planet, they'd say, no,
there's nothing abnormal about the planet. The supervisor might have
some background or who knows that there could be all that,
(27:37):
or it could just be a myth that there is treasure,
and that you know sme and his captain went looking
for it and said if anybody else looks for it,
don't because it's ours. I want to have it. Is
there treasure?
Speaker 2 (27:49):
I'm expecting a richie rich They get to the vault
and it's just all their like actual prize possessions that
are treasures to them and not like because like if
you think about the very first episode, they thought they
were getting treasure and there was nothing there, right, Yeah,
And I'm like, Okay, well, maybe that's the make Maybe
that's the point that maybe like when they get to
this planet, it's not the kind of treasure they're expecting.
It's not like credit they can go spin and be
(28:10):
rich off of. It's something that it's valuable, but not
for them. Is that that makes sense?
Speaker 1 (28:16):
Yeah, I think it'd be something like national treasure or
like you get to that end point and you get
to that room and then there's nothing then but then
there's some like either it got moved or there's some
other secure to know and then your find maybe it's
on the ship this whole time, like the captain found
it and kind it, but he couldn't leave the planet
or something on the ship the whole time.
Speaker 2 (28:34):
That was that the treasure is actually Neil, I'm pretty
sure is the treasure.
Speaker 1 (28:39):
Treasure.
Speaker 2 (28:40):
He's my treasure, but yeah, I don't know. I'm but
also that that that's great because like we still have
the pirates out there. You still have the mystery. Yeah,
we sell the mystery of of of of what the
treasure is? Can these kids get back home? What are
the other planets? Like why these planets exist? What is this?
You know? You know, why hide these planets? Why do
they not know about current events? So like there's still
(29:02):
some questions we answered. And I'm assuming we're going to
go back to ad Att and to see the parents
a little bit more. Maybe maybe that would be our
explanation to like what's going on. I wonder if the
ship was like maybe the ship itself is the treasure,
not like this, not like the treasures on the ship.
What if the ship is special, you know, and that's
why it was buried on ad Aden and when it
(29:22):
came up, you know, people, oh no, the ship is gone.
They got it has to.
Speaker 1 (29:25):
Be probably not because that is Smee and the other
captain's ship, and like they took it to ad Akron
and then that's how they got there on it. That
was his ship. That that's me ship. He's familiar with it,
So I would think that's probably not it.
Speaker 2 (29:38):
Do you think they're going to continue to bring me
with him? But they're going to leave them there.
Speaker 1 (29:41):
No, I think they'll reset them and find a way
to so they can help them.
Speaker 2 (29:45):
He's a fun character. I was was very upset when
he turned into a bad guy because I was like,
he's so protective with the kids. I love him. He's like,
I'll tear you apart, Limb from limb.
Speaker 1 (29:54):
It's like, oh no, no, I mean, I mean Kv's
already talking about you know, reprogramming or yeah.
Speaker 2 (30:01):
It's only a million on a couple million cofigurations. She
got that light light work like reading you know what
I'm saying. I mean, it was a shorten sweet episode,
but it pushed along the story. There was some development
in it, like you said.
Speaker 1 (30:12):
Fern, development for sure.
Speaker 2 (30:14):
Yeah, Neil is becoming like the star of the show,
even though I mean, I'm sure they knew that. I'm
sure they knew they had when they when they put
that little makeup on them, like yeah, we got, we got,
we got to hit here. I'm still invested. My kids
are still invested, which is awesome because they're not bored
with it yet and it's hard thing to watch a
long form television show. So yeah, no, I'm it's it's
(30:37):
solid for me. Man, I don't know where they're gonna go.
We have our theories. That's just that's just the exciting
part about it.
Speaker 1 (30:42):
You know what's nice about these streaming shows is we're
coming up on a big holiday season, so like, yeah,
two holidays coming up. They're not taking a break, Like
we're getting an episode straight through until it's done.
Speaker 2 (30:53):
That's pretty cool. Yeah, that is very nice. Yeah, we
get to watch one night during the Christmas week. That's
great because my Christmas Day is gonna watching Squid Games out. Yeah. Yeah,
it's game taken over my house again. Everyone's walking around
with the mask. It's kind of crazy.
Speaker 1 (31:09):
All right, let's consult the Jedi counsel and provide a ruling.
I don't think there's any uh yeah, I think we
can kind of predict what that's gonna be.
Speaker 2 (31:17):
But I must speak with the Jedi Council immediately. The
situation has become much more complicated. Can I can I
in honor of Joey Joey Master, and we are so back.
Feel better? But hopefully I made you laugh?
Speaker 1 (31:36):
Yeah Master for me too. This is the show's doing
it for me. It's given me more joy than I expected. Yeah,
I'm not questioning my think why the show's here, Like, yeah,
it's very Obviouslycially it's fun. It's it's getting us back
into the world without having to worry about the Skywalker
saga and how this fits into the timeframe. And I'm
(31:56):
truly enjoying it.
Speaker 2 (31:58):
Yeah, Master for me too. Surprise hit of the year
for me, and it couldn't have come at a better
time for me personally. This has been such an uplifting,
like feel good thing that I've been looking forward to
every week now. And uh, that's that's good. It's I mean, obviously,
you know, it's the holiday season, it's Christmas. I love
these things. You guys know, I'm the Hallmark you know,
I'm still watching it. But like, apart from all my
(32:19):
usual things, this is an extra nice thing to just
have this holiday season.
Speaker 1 (32:22):
So absolutely, we're gonna hind out some awards. We're gonna
get the easy one out of the way first. Yeah,
MVP is Neil.
Speaker 2 (32:31):
It's the Neil Award now, actually Neil Award. Yeah no, uh, yeah,
Neil's the MVP. And if you guys haven't seen anything
of the show yet or this episode yet, like you
watched the first three, you haven't caught the fourth yet, dude,
please watch it. It's it's really short, and it's and
it's it's it's it's a Neil love fest. So yeah,
MVP definitely.
Speaker 1 (32:52):
All right our comeback Award, I'm gonna give it to
the ypies.
Speaker 2 (32:59):
Yeah, dude, I dare not try to pronounce that word
because I always mess it up.
Speaker 1 (33:04):
They're stinky, but they're their livelihood.
Speaker 2 (33:06):
Yes, and it was good seeing them again. They are back.
Speaker 1 (33:11):
I just think of Obi Wan with with those so
it's always good.
Speaker 2 (33:13):
Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (33:17):
Our rookie of the episode.
Speaker 2 (33:20):
Hannah Hanah, Yeah, she was good, very it was it
was cool seeing another be a little girl that Fern
could kind of look at and be like, oh, that's
what a real tough girl looks like, you know, one
who's like really really in it and not just mad
that she can't be in it, you know. So you
(33:40):
know she I thought she was really good, really well.
Speaker 1 (33:42):
Performed absolutely and and she connected with our with our
MVP and giving some confidence and a kiss.
Speaker 2 (33:50):
Yeah, she came A kiss on his cheek. Man, let's
go kneel. Do you remember that? Do you remember you
remember you remember kisses on a cheek when you were
a little kid. Man.
Speaker 1 (33:57):
Yes, absolutely, I remember there was a time. I'm in
seventh grade. I went to a school that was like
like elementary to high schools altogether. It was smaller and
seventh grade I was I was short. I got picked
on a lot. I just remember there was there's this
one period where like the eleventh graders, there's a group
of them, like four or five, and they like took
me under their wing. I was hanging out with them
(34:18):
and the one like gorgeous popular one said she'll be
my girlfriend for a day. And then like I was
walking on air that time. I feel like it's like
when Neil must have been feeling in this moment.
Speaker 2 (34:28):
Yeah, man, shout out to shout out to eleventh grader.
Is I know you. I hope you're having a great day.
You are an amazing person. I love people doing night
things like that because you remember it.
Speaker 1 (34:39):
Yeah, I'm thirty eight years old. I still remember to
this day.
Speaker 2 (34:42):
Yeah, like little dude, kind, little kind gestures matter to people. Man. Yeah,
we need more of than the world.
Speaker 1 (34:49):
All right, So we go from talking about greatness and
nice and amazing and now we're going to talk about
who our skin is. Our skin award goes to Uh.
Speaker 2 (34:58):
I mean I was gonna say the general because but.
Speaker 1 (35:01):
Like General Stricks.
Speaker 2 (35:02):
Yeah, but like also it's kind of like that's just
kind of their way. So maybe he doesn't know any better.
But still I know better. That's a thing to do.
Speaker 1 (35:11):
Even Neil knew better.
Speaker 2 (35:12):
Neil knew better. Yeah, this is right. This is not right.
Speaker 1 (35:14):
Guys, Like I can understand training kids to defend for
themselves and be warriors or but like to put these
new ones that you what they train them for ten minutes,
you're gonna put them on the front line of a
battle against people that apparently kill you all.
Speaker 2 (35:31):
It reminded me of my favorite famee video game. I've
been trying to convince everyone to play hell Divers because
the gimmick of that game is you become a hell
Diver a soldier and you go through training and training
is only five minutes long, and go to war. And
like that's the joke that like these guys are not
prepared to do what they're doing.
Speaker 1 (35:51):
Yeah, General Stricks, we'll give it to him, Yeah, give
it to him. Any any weight nominees, Oh, I know
who can get the way toward who's that ready?
Speaker 2 (35:59):
Yeah? King no Head, King no Head, Yes, King no Head,
which we said sounds like a Star Wars name.
Speaker 1 (36:08):
Actually, yeah, definitely whatever that statue was in the beginning
that they found the head's missing from and they're trying
to kids are trying to figure out what is whimsic. Oh,
it could be King no Head.
Speaker 2 (36:20):
You think his name is King no Head? Yeah? Why not?
Speaker 1 (36:25):
I love it? All Right to the tallyboard. We don't
have very much this episode. Yes, there was a lot
of lore. There was like weapons and the Trois and
the attans and all the different planets are but this
is all new to this show, so none of that
was from cannon pieces. Before the one entry we do
(36:49):
and shout out to Joey because he's been waiting for
when we're going to do this. We're going to give
John Nonna would the Heart of Gold this time. Yeah.
He's clearly a pirate, he's clearly a scoundrel. He's been
doing some sketchy things, some morally ambiguous things that I've
been saying, but he truly cared for the kids this episode.
(37:11):
Not only did he risk himself to you know, barter
for their lives to get them back. Yeah, there's that
there's when Smee was about to go on a rampage.
He did all he could to save them and keep
them safe. At this point, I think we reached, like
I was saying before, we've reached past the point where
he's doing it because he needs them or he needs
(37:32):
something from them. I think now he's in a general
partnership with them, and he actually I think he actually
cares about him. You could see his reactions too, when
they're doing things like no adults in the cockpit or
you know, you gotta you stay with the ship.
Speaker 2 (37:45):
He's laughing like yeah, because he's like, you got just
kids and whatever.
Speaker 1 (37:49):
He thinks he's cute. And if he didn't really, if
he really wasn't there for it, I think you'd see
a different reaction.
Speaker 2 (37:56):
Yep.
Speaker 1 (37:57):
So plus one Heart of Gold brings us to twelve
Nice and that's our episode. Oh, Kevin, I think it's
time for you to make us laugh with a Bad
Star Wars joke.
Speaker 2 (38:08):
I will do my best. Here's my Bad Star Wars joke. Actually,
I got I got, I got two of them. They're
Loop Skywalker Base. If you're if you're interested, let's go. Okay,
where did Luke get his cybernetic hand from where the
second hand Store? And why couldn't Luke ever find love?
(38:29):
Why he was looking in all the wrong places.
Speaker 1 (38:34):
There's more than one meaning to that.
Speaker 2 (38:37):
Yes, that's a deep cut one actually, yes, multi layered
Star Wars joke. We only give the best Star Wars
bad jokes on this podcast. Guys. You might get those
other ones, those ones you google and get in a second.
Speaker 1 (38:47):
Not me.
Speaker 2 (38:47):
I'm not doing that at all.
Speaker 1 (38:50):
We're not asking AI, We're not asking tell Star Wars
jokes at all.
Speaker 2 (38:55):
No, guys, thanks for listening. You know, we felt not
complete without our without our trio. But Joey's totally a
goal with aoutum because he's not feeling well. You will soon, body,
you'll probably have You'll probably at the next episode. Yeah,
hopefully we'll so uh that that's the first show.
Speaker 1 (39:10):
So may the forest with.
