Speaker 1 (00:00):
A long time ago in a galaxy far far away.

Speaker 2 (00:37):
Welcome to Always Hold On to Star Wars, because just
what the Internet needed was another podcast talking about Star Wars.
I'm one of your hosts, Joy Joey and joining me today.
We have our usual crew of Cavante, hey man, how's
it going?

Speaker 1 (00:53):
And Chris Hello there, and.

Speaker 2 (00:57):
Today we're here to talk about We're here to catch up.
Actually we have. We took some time for the holidays.
A few episodes of Skeleton Crew came out, and we're
here to talk about episodes.

Speaker 1 (01:09):
Four and five, five and six, five and six.

Speaker 2 (01:12):
That's why it sounded like.

Speaker 1 (01:15):
When you're out on PTO.

Speaker 2 (01:17):
Yes, yeah, no, I had I had ammonia, could not talk. Yeah,
it was. It was a fun ride. I took it.
I actually took my very first sick day from work ever.
Outside of like a kid being sick, it was. It
was rough.

Speaker 3 (01:32):
Well, it's good to see you looking so much better.

Speaker 2 (01:35):
Well, and I'm glad you can see me looking better.

Speaker 3 (01:39):
Everyone else just imagined Joey looking glorious. Okay, he looks
glorious right now.

Speaker 1 (01:43):
And sporting his uh ever strong fandom of the Chicago Bears.

Speaker 2 (01:48):
Yep, yep, Bears beat the Packers for the first time
in my son's lifetime. Wow, it was wonderful day today.

Speaker 1 (01:57):
I know the my my son was born in twenty seventeen,
and it was about two and a half weeks later
that the Bills made the playoffs for the first time
in an eighteen years.

Speaker 2 (02:05):
So I attributed to him being born. Well, this is
the second Bear's Packers. When in your son's lifetime.

Speaker 1 (02:14):
The important things for me, We're not here to talking
about NFL. We're here to talk about Skeleton Crew and
boy do we have a lot to discuss.

Speaker 3 (02:23):
Yeah, two episodes worth.

Speaker 1 (02:25):
I mean not a lot one short episode. Yeah, not
a lot in run time, but a lot in what
took place.

Speaker 3 (02:31):
Yeah, the story has moved.

Speaker 1 (02:32):
Should should we get into it?

Speaker 3 (02:34):
Yeah? No, I said, we just jump into Let's do
the rundowns and then let's just go from there.

Speaker 1 (02:38):
Man, all right, take it away, take it away, be myself,
because I'll be delivering the castle rundow. Episode five, You
have a Lot to Learn About Pirates was released on
December twenty fourth, twenty twenty four. It was written by

(03:01):
I'm gonna butcher this name. I apologize Young Joe Wesner
and directed by Jake Schreier. On at Aton, the parents
desperately try to send a message beyond the barrier, but
the attempt is foiled. Farah admits to Wendel that they
have to go behind the supervisor's back. The crew managed
to restrain SM thirty three and alters programming to prevent

(03:24):
him from turning on them. He reveals that the hidden
treasure belonged to Fame pirate tack Renned, meaning that a
ship that they're on is the Onyx Cinder. SM thirty
three agrees to take them to his hidden base, which
has been turned into a luxury planet called Le Nupa.
Jod disguises the children as elders as they arrive on

(03:45):
the planet. However, his former partner Mereda I mean pocket.
I don't know if you guys know. She was voiced
by Mereda from the Disney movie Brave. Anyway, a freelancer
outs his location to Brutus, and with the help from
the patron the big Giant squid guy Oh Yeah, Cathallops,

(04:08):
the crew make their way into Lenoupa's hidden caves, maneuvering
through the booby traps until they find Rennet's hidden base.
They find the coordinates to add Atten and learn that
the treasure is a mint that creates infinite credits, while
Fern reminds Jod of the fair reward he was promised. Jod,
desiring the mint, challenges Fern to be the captain and

(04:32):
with a knife to her throat, urges her to yield. Wim,
finding a lightsaber amongst the treasure, threatens Jod, However, when
he activates it, he's surprised by the fact that he's
holding it upside down and drops it across the room
directly to Jod. That was great amazing. Fern eventually yields,

(04:55):
but the child the children escape when Wim activates a
booby trap drop them out of sight. Jod picks up
the lightsaber that Wim had found and dropped. Next episode six,
titled zero Friends Again, was released on December thirty first,
twenty twenty four. It was also written by Young Joe Wessner,
and this one was directed by Bryce Dallas Howard Okay

(05:23):
Jod in SM thirty three are captured by the pirates
where they take him back to Brutus for execution. Meanwhile,
the children drop out of Rennedd's layer. At the bottom
of the resort, KB reveals that she memorized at Atton's coordinates.
A subsequent argument over how to reach the ship results
in Fern and Neil trying to climb the mountain while

(05:43):
Wim and KB follow a group of seemingly benevolent trash crabs.
Jod manages to earn himself a stay of execution in
exchange for the location of at Atton. Halfway through the trip,
kb's cybernetics suffer a malfunction from corrosioning Whim to fix them.
Fern and Neil recover the Onyx cinder and save their

(06:05):
friends before they could be eaten by a giant trash
cart crab. Soon, the ship is pinned by a garbage machine,
forcing the children to purge the hull, revealing a sleeker
ship beneath. As they depart, lenupa did anybody else know
something like that was going to happen? When I'm the
previously on it starts off, but the emergency hull demolition

(06:31):
sequencer that was I.

Speaker 2 (06:33):
Actually was going through and hitting skip preview, but it
was so quick that I too, he too, and I
was like, oh, okay, well they're going to be using.

Speaker 1 (06:41):
That knew it was coming in somehow.

Speaker 2 (06:45):
Yeah, they really need to not be so obvious with those.

Speaker 1 (06:49):
Especially on a show, on a short run show like
this where all the episodes are available to watch again
and bring it and all the people are directly tied
into this right now, Like maybe you add that in
after the fact, maybe like a couple of weeks later
you could add that into the to the stream. But
for those that are just trying to follow the story,
we don't need to be reminded.

Speaker 2 (07:09):
Do any of you have YouTube TV? Yes?

Speaker 3 (07:11):
I do.

Speaker 2 (07:12):
They need to treat it like the sports thing. Have
it be something you ask if you turn a game
midway through, it'll say catch up on key plays, and
you can run through it and see all of the
play like the major plays so far. So yeah, if
I and they should treat it like the way Smallville
used to, where you're gonna see the same five clips
because they're just more so giving you the state of

(07:33):
the whole season and.

Speaker 3 (07:34):
Just showing you what you just saw last episode. Well, yeah,
I was gonna say, like it seems like these whole
like previously on used to just like apply solely to
like mid season finales. And like penultimate episodes, you know,
essic case like it just seems like, yeah, this is
this is a short form season with the episodes aren't

(07:56):
longer than forty minutes. We remember it's just just a week,
you know.

Speaker 2 (08:00):
But previously on.

Speaker 3 (08:02):
Yeah, especially when your episode total run time, I think, well,
what was it, Chris thirty six minutes from start to finish?

Speaker 1 (08:08):
Thirty three for the second episode.

Speaker 3 (08:10):
Wo, yeah you don't. You don't need to spend.

Speaker 1 (08:12):
Time previously Yeah, the intro.

Speaker 3 (08:21):
Yeah, but yeah, no, no, no, no, I think no,
I was, I was just gonna say that, Uh I
I I I had a proud dad moment, as I
tell you, guys, I'm watching this my boys, and Solomon,
who I'm convinced is actually Whim.

Speaker 2 (08:37):
He is slowly.

Speaker 3 (08:37):
Becoming Wimen throughout these past weeks. Uh not more by
just the way he looks like him, Like he's already
that like him. But uh when Wim holds the lightsaber, uh,
but Solomon was like, isn't that upset? And then he
he's like, yeah, what's up? Side down, buddy? Great eye.

Speaker 2 (08:52):
Part of me think it was gonna be like a
Rebels moment because there was like this tiny little pinhole.
Like I thought it was gonna be like skinny rebel,
But what's going on.

Speaker 3 (09:03):
The first thing people have complained about on the show.
I like my lightsaber's beefy man, you know, I like
a good big lightsaber, you know. But yeah, we'll get
to that, we get the rebels, Well.

Speaker 1 (09:18):
Let's get to our certain points of view.

Speaker 3 (09:19):
No, let's go for it.

Speaker 2 (09:20):
Let's do it.

Speaker 1 (09:21):
You're gonna find that many of the truths we cling
to depend rickly on our own point of view.

Speaker 2 (09:29):
I thought it was really nice to start out checking
out out of these parents, and and it was really
good to see at least some concern from the dad.

Speaker 3 (09:37):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (09:38):
Yeah, But also that was it. I kind of thought
we were gonna have like a back and forth episode.

Speaker 3 (09:44):
Yeah, I when the episode started, I fully thought we
were gonna spend the entire episode with the parents.

Speaker 2 (09:50):
That would be a plush.

Speaker 3 (09:53):
Yeah, because you know, of course, we end with Neil fainting,
so like, you know, they you know, so.

Speaker 1 (09:58):
Let us keep wondering if Neil's gonna be okay.

Speaker 3 (10:00):
Yeah, it's okay, because that's really that's really the only
reason I'm watching. I need to make sure Neil gets home.
To his family and his brothers.

Speaker 2 (10:07):
I also just notice Neil's hair for the first time.

Speaker 3 (10:12):
Isn't it adorable?

Speaker 2 (10:13):
Like I guess I wasn't watching closely enough to see how.

Speaker 1 (10:17):
Like keV kept saying, Colm olver and I just brushed
past me. I never thought about it. When we watched
episode four together, you and I could, that's when I
noticed it probably similar for your joys same around the
same time. I hadn't noticed it before.

Speaker 2 (10:29):
He looks like that episode where like a ship flew
by where you really saw Yeah, I.

Speaker 3 (10:34):
Was like, what he looks like he's getting ready for
picture day or something, man like little overalls. Oh no,
I'm sorry, I'm I'm obsessed with how cute Neili. I can't.
I'm just getting older, Like I'm really like, this guy
is cute.

Speaker 2 (10:45):
Yeah, he's gonna be He's gonna be this he's an MVP.
I think I'm just making a prediction here.

Speaker 1 (10:54):
So we start out with when we get we have
the parents and their piece, and there's some I mean,
they're they're heavily locked down by droids, and you know,
they don't really have an audience with the supervisor yet,
right like the waiting I think and that's a lot
of speculation on the intern right now is who's the supervisor,
what's going to be the reveal there? What's going to
be the reveal for this show? And I hope there

(11:15):
really isn't one. I hope it's not anything like that.
I hope it's just the story and then maybe if
you get in more seasons than you can. But the supervisor,
who the supervisor is is a lot of talk.

Speaker 3 (11:30):
Yeah, it's Darth play is the Wise.

Speaker 1 (11:33):
Behind It's Hondo anakah, it better be. Yeah, I was
tack renned and then.

Speaker 3 (11:42):
It actually is tackling out. That's it. The supervisor's tackering.

Speaker 2 (11:45):
No, I am dad.

Speaker 3 (11:47):
I don't. I don't know what is it going to
happen in this show? And I cannot, Like we are
really we're pretty closely into the season and I still
have no idea what's happening in the show. However, it's
still very entertaining and just so gosh darn charming that like,

(12:09):
I haven't noticed that I don't know what's going on yet.

Speaker 1 (12:12):
Yeah, watching the Accolyte, we were just constantly talking about
the questions that we have and what's missing and where
are we going to get the answer here. Yeah, I'm
watching this. I'm just enjoying it. Like I know that
those questions are out there, like how are they going
to get home? Are they going to really fly that
ship off by themselves? What's going to happen to job?
Like all the questions that are out there are out
there still, But I'm not I'm not pining for it.

(12:33):
I'm not like looking to have the It reveals to me,
I'm enjoying everything they're giving me as they're giving it.

Speaker 2 (12:38):
Yeah, Like the Accolyte, we were so what's going to
happen next? And making those predictions and and say and
I think you specifically Chris, we're making the comment of
like we nothing has happened, We don't know anything that's
going on. And that was all purposeful misdirections where this
is like we have no idea what's going on because
they're not following a formula. It's not a prequel that

(12:59):
needs to get from A to B. Yeah, you know,
like we know where they need to end somewhere. Yeah,
like obi Wan, we're sitting there like okay, this has
to end up with yeah, obi Wan back on Tatweed.
So those were all of that's how all these other
shows have been where this one is just like, I
don't know where we're going. Heck, they could never get
home and just become pirates, you know.

Speaker 3 (13:18):
They Yeah, you know you know something that I think
I'm that this show is kind of making me realize,
is you know, because obviously The Acolyte was the last
big major, you know, Disney Star Wars project that we covered.
You know, that's new and we like, I feel like
it's the same sensation. And stick with me for a second, guys,

(13:39):
because I'm talking about the DC property here. But when
I like, the Penguin just came out and like, like
you know, I've mentioned a couple of times, I loved it. It
was great. But it's really dark and it's really really serious,
and that's intentional. That's the world that they built in
that universe, right, and so I feel like with The Acolyte,
it was very I mean, I don't know if they

(14:00):
intended to, but it felt very self serious, very like
take us serious, Like we're like like we're a serious,
grown up show. And I know when I uh ih
jumping back to my DC analogy, when the trailer for
the Superman movie came out. There was some questions about it,
and you know, and the more I watched it, the

(14:21):
more I was like, man, it just seems like it's fun,
and like it's like, yeah, DC is a fantasy world.
There should be giant monsters attacking the city because I
watched them do that in the cartoon. Because remember this
is based off cartoons and comic books, right, and so
like I like bright colors, and I like silly costumes,
and you know, this is like, let's have some fun

(14:42):
with our superhero Let's quit trying to make everything so
serious and so grounded. Let's have some fun with superheroes again.
And when I'm watching this, I'm like, it's a giant
crab monster and there's crabs that have trash on them,
and there's like all these like in that crazy you know,
weird creature that was like, oh, help you get out
of here, and like these kids holding lightsabers and yeah
the clod, yeah holding lightsabers and treasure and crazy alien.

(15:07):
I'm like, this just feels like fun Star Wars and
it's not meant to be taken too seriously. It's not
meant to be universe altering or deep dive analysis on
YouTube it just like, hey, man, you want to watch
these kids get into some mess, you know, in a
Star Wars universe, and we'll find out what happens. And
that's been so nice for me. I didn't realize how

(15:28):
much I needed fun and levity in my media that
I've been consuming recently, because everything's been very self serious,
and this has just been kind of fun for me,
so I'm having.

Speaker 2 (15:36):
To It was kind of like what everybody says about
Mando about how like where he would ask the questions
about like very obvious Star Wars education and he was
getting his Star Wars like we had a point with
today in these episodes where a kid literally held a
lightsaber upside down. Yeah, and then this might be from

(15:59):
the episode I watched all three of them today, from
the one I missed where they had to have a
conversation about oh wait, no, no, I think the X
Wings are the good guys, like yeah, yeah, And.

Speaker 3 (16:09):
At one point, Whim's yelling like why do I always
pick the wrong people as the good guys? Like that's hilarious,
And then when she calls Whim a Jedi after he
helps her, he's like.

Speaker 2 (16:19):
Jedi freaking moment. Yeah, a little smile.

Speaker 3 (16:23):
You know, It's just it's just when he saves KB
from her.

Speaker 1 (16:31):
Says, I bet you didn't think this is how you
would save a life, and then she thanks Jediah.

Speaker 3 (16:38):
But it's just like, yeah, guys, like this is supposed
to feel like this. You know, I don't need the
Sith deconstructed at this point anymore. I don't need the
Jedi deconstructed anymore. I just want to see some fun
Star Wars and I'm really happy this show came. Could
not have come at a better time for me personally

(16:58):
in my Star Wars fandom. It just could not have
come at a perfect time, at a more perfect time.
So uh no, it's it's it's been a great Christmas
gift and like it's I bonded with my boys over it.
So I whatever happens these next two episodes, it's already
a hit for me because they haven't done anything. They
haven't set up anything to make me think, oh no,
they're gonna screw this up, or they're gonna they're gonna

(17:19):
shoehorn something in or make it out something they don't
have to. Hopefully that's not the case. Yeah, you know,
but it didn't feel that.

Speaker 1 (17:27):
Way we talked about them not taking it too seriously
and like just giving you a fun Like this is
clearly a fun show about kids. There's no way that
all four of these kids would have survived everything that
they have just gone through in the Star Wars universe,
where like blasters and weapons are everywhere. They did the
booby traps, all all those sorts of things, like even

(17:48):
to the point of when their enter when sm thirty
three was trying to rip them limb from limb and
then they were about to reprogram him, and then when
they're done reprogramm him and they're ready to go, he
just rips those ropes off and gets up and he
was really trying to the Royalia program to do something
he would have done it Like like this is built
for comedies, built for because like you kind of got

(18:09):
to look past those things a little bit, but like
it's so fun and you don't want anything to happen
to these kids anyway.

Speaker 3 (18:14):
So no, at the end, they're flying the ship away,
the new Sleeker version, and and yeah, Solomon was like, Dad,
they're flying the ship and I was like yeah, and
it's even showing that they're not good at it. They're
kind of like kind of jumping around in the sky
as they're releasing the.

Speaker 1 (18:29):
Fact that what they're what they're doing was all earned.
It was all set up, like the fact that Neil
already got to steer the ship so he kind of
had a feeling for it. KB with her memory and
I was just yeah, not only internalized the coordinates, but
she watched what John did and was able to exactly
repeat it to do that, and Fern understanding the situations

(18:49):
and being a better captain because of what they've alreadys
been like that was all earned and built up and
didn't feel like, oh my god, how are these kids
flying the ship?

Speaker 2 (18:58):
Yeah, I just really want to of Lucasfilm Disney some
free advice here, get the toys out before the show, like,
because if that ship was so cool, especially watching it
split away. Yeah, I don't have good self control when

(19:20):
I'm watching the show. If I could go on online
and buy that lego today, I would.

Speaker 1 (19:27):
It's that's that's the question you want to ask you.
Probably you just watched the show, so you probably haven't
listen to us talk about it episode four and last it,
so we were kind of giving you some ribbing because
we figured out the name of the ship based on legos. Yes,
it was listed like here's the lego set for the
Onyx Cinder and that's how we knew. But and clearly
now that the ship burst away into a new ship,

(19:48):
it's now they can hold new.

Speaker 2 (19:49):
Set of toys.

Speaker 1 (19:51):
But are you telling are you telling me they're not
there's nothing out there yet, it's not available. You can't
do anything with it.

Speaker 2 (19:56):
I don't think so I would have seen something unless
I'm wrong, But like the same I think they did
the same thing with Mando. It's like, oh he he
made the end one like that could have been spoiled
ahead of time. You can spoil as cool as that was.
Spoil it ahead of time and say look at here's
all of these toys. So that way the second happens
in the episode, You're like, that was so cool. I'm

(20:16):
buying this. Now they're gonna make so much more money.
I mean, you have to take a risk, you know,
a little bit of saying, well, maybe this one doesn't sell,
but like I don't know, just.

Speaker 3 (20:25):
I want my Neil plush, yeah, yesterday?

Speaker 2 (20:28):
Why is it not out here? They're waiting to see,
like what everybody is doing on Twitter or something, and
that's ridiculous.

Speaker 1 (20:34):
I'm going to Disney World in a week. If I
see any Neil merchandise.

Speaker 3 (20:38):
I'll venmo you the cash man.

Speaker 1 (20:40):
Please, It's gonna be my gift to you, my friend.
I'm want to get you a Neil plushy.

Speaker 3 (20:45):
I'd cherish it. My kids couldn't touch it.

Speaker 2 (20:48):
I just with movies, they used to do this, right,
They used to really get all of the merchandise out
like months before the movie came out. Yeah, I don't know.
Don't make me wait for this, Like I mean, it's
better for my wallet because if I could get some
separation from the show, I'll say, no, I don't need it.

Speaker 3 (21:10):
No. The kid actor so like we say this every
episode about them, probably, but like having a cast of
kids be your primarily like like you know that could
be a risk, and my god, these kids are so talented.
H I love. Like there was a moment where KB

(21:30):
and Fern are having a disagreement where KB is kind
of letting her know, like you don't really listen to
me and you kind of just and Fern who doesn't understand,
Like they get interrupted by Neil, who has all the
trash cats around and she just the shot of her
looking back at KB with this like what is going
on with you face? Like she didn't say anything. I

(21:51):
just really understand, Like I don't know, these kids are
just really good. And I feel like Jude Law is
having I mean, I I don't want to say he's
having a lot of fun here, because he seems to
be having a lot of fun and everything he does,
he just seems like a great guy to work with.
He's probably having a lot of he's having a lot

(22:12):
of fun when he comes out and uh, and in
the later episode with all the cold on him and
the pearls and stuff, he's climbing out and then he
instantly goes into like manipulator mode and just trying to
like get the crew back on his side. I was
just like, I love this character and I and.

Speaker 1 (22:28):
Then he and then he tells and he comes up
with all the stuff.

Speaker 3 (22:33):
The stuff too.

Speaker 2 (22:35):
It's so good.

Speaker 3 (22:36):
Uh. The I will say, the only critique I have
about all all all these episodes is Jellil White's choice
of voice he's using for that character, and he is, Uh,
I don't know what his characters name is, but you know, yeah, okay,
you got you know, talking abou right, joey mm hmm, Okay, yeah,
I was gonna say because he's from a show that's
quite old. ID knew about it, but you know who

(23:03):
you know, Steve kle Is. Yes, okay, Steve is in
this show. Uh. He was also the cartoon voice of Sonic.
So yeah, like the voice he chose kind of took
me out of a little because it sound like he
was trying to make a voice instead of just talk.
But other than that, man, great other episode. I love

(23:24):
how this scary pirate place that was talked up by
thirty three had been gingrified into a resort. Yes, you know,
Uh that's hilarious. And then still like.

Speaker 1 (23:37):
That and all these years you've been there and you've
built over the spot, and then you come to find
out there buried treasure just just beneath your lower level. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (23:47):
So okay, so like stuff like that. Like here's the
part where I'm like, okay, I just went on this
rant about how we're not supposed to look into many
things just enjoy the ride, but like are we supposed
to be like, oh, why is there a lightsaber in there?
Or it's just like oh cool lightsaber just kidded like.

Speaker 1 (24:00):
I honestly think it's just because women is obsessed with Jedi.
They wanted to give him the opportunity to hold one
and have it there that he's been doing all these
play ones for so long.

Speaker 2 (24:09):
I don't know, Jedi Jude Law is gonna just pop
out and like we're gonna say that he does have
some training, like he's We're gonna see that he still
have the lightsaber, doesn't he.

Speaker 1 (24:19):
Yeah, let's let's talk about Let's talk about that, then
let's go there. So earlier in the episode, the fifth episode,
they're on the ship and Women is crying because he
misses his parents. His mom's gone, never coming back. He
doesn't know I was gonna see his dad. And he
gets a pep talk from Jod and part of the
talk is is Jedi propaganda like no attachments, your focus

(24:42):
determines your reality, which is a quote that Qui Gon
says directly to Anakin Uh. And so it's straight Jedi
talk coming from Jod. He must have learned somewhere, whether
it was as a kid or you know, who knows.
And he's obviously for sensitive. So there is a angel
for some background there, like like we've been talking about. Yeah,

(25:03):
and then when he does react, Yeah, he does walk
away with have the lightsaber at the end. I don't
know if he gets to keep it because he got arrested, captured.

Speaker 3 (25:11):
Yeah, they might have took it off home. But also
they would have shown me that like, oh what, like
you have a lightsaber? Like what, I don't know, just
just the way they don't know what it is. Yeah,
I mean the way he held handled it at the
end of the episode real quick and like, you know,
it looked like.

Speaker 2 (25:24):
He knew what do Yeah, yeah, but it was it was.

Speaker 3 (25:31):
Yeah. So I'm I'm I'm curious to see to find
out who he is because we got another.

Speaker 1 (25:35):
Name for him that we got two more names from him,
two more names written, two more Yeah, dash Zenten, Yeah,
that's that's who Pocket calls him. And Jodwick zinc is
another name that's mentioned for him, so another I think
the idea is he scams people, uses fake names and
moves on, so we we don't know what the real
one is.

Speaker 3 (25:55):
Yeah, I'm curious to find out, Like if we still
don't know his real name, maybe that would be a reveal,
you know.

Speaker 1 (26:01):
I'm also I'm just I have I have some questions
about his motivations and why he does things when mm hmm.
If he could have challenged to be the captain at
any time, if he felt the need to do it.
Then when they're in the treasure room with four kids
who clearly aren't gonna overpower him or anything, why didn't
it happen sooner? And like he did care enough because

(26:22):
he gets like I said, he gave whim that pep talk.
He's you know, he bargained for them on that other planet.
He could have just as easily, you know, hey, at
some threey three, they're dead, I'm the captain now and
gone off on their own to do whatever.

Speaker 3 (26:34):
Yeah, Like why what.

Speaker 1 (26:36):
Happened in that moment? I think he wanted to do.

Speaker 2 (26:40):
That, getting closer and closer to end right, Like you
hear about this, you know, tangentially there's a treasure there.

Speaker 1 (26:49):
They thought they had the coordinates earlier when they ended
up at at Akron, and he didn't. He didn't care to.

Speaker 2 (26:55):
He didn't even burn the bread, burn the bridge until
you feel you need.

Speaker 1 (26:58):
He didn't even mind just staying on the ship mm
hmm at that point. And now they found they found
tack Rennad's treasure. They found out that it is Tac
Renner and maybe that maybe that he's something for him.
I'm not I'm not questioning the show. I think that
I think there's an obvious reason as to why it
happened in that moment and not earlier. And I would
almost say that there's got to be something that he
was gonna put the kids in the brig or what.

(27:20):
I think that he either learned something or knows something
that there's a reason it's I don't think it's necessarily
just a ploy to get so maybe try to keep
the kids out of danger.

Speaker 3 (27:32):
Yeah, I was gonna say, there's only like two things
that come to mind of like why. I'm probably gonna
be wrong on both, which is fine. I'm often wrong
on the show. Either.

Speaker 1 (27:42):
I like being wrong because it means they surprise me.

Speaker 3 (27:44):
Yeah. Either one, he knows something that like like like
Joey was saying, he knew danger was coming soon he
did not want the kids a part of it. That
seems that'slightly to me because danger hasn't been something they've avoided,
you know, I mean they they've avoided it, but like
they've been in danger already and he hasn't like abandoned
them or kicked him to the curb yet. The other
thing is he has to feel like he has some

(28:07):
kind of ownership over Like I'm curious of his relationship
with this famous pirate. You know, maybe he feels like
this is just his to get and no one shares
this with them more. Maybe there's something about that. Well,
we know it's just a mint now that you know,
reproduces if an amount of credits, which man, let me
find that dollar.

Speaker 1 (28:27):
We gotta expect that this was a long time ago
that he crashed there, and that because well one the
ship was buried under the land and nobody had found
it or done anything with it, like the droids, the
droids on the planet hadn't cleared it up. He had
to have been there a long time and for him
to be like for him to be a legend attach runner,

(28:49):
for people to hear about him, his stories would have
had to be passed on and told for a long time.
But it almost seemed like they talk about it well.
And also even his layer got built over by that
the spa. Really, he had to have been a long
time ago.

Speaker 2 (29:04):
Yeah, but he got that lightsaber from a Jedi during
like while they were in their peak of their powers.

Speaker 3 (29:12):
I'm gonna say this, this is my wild speculation, guests,
that that Jude Law and I want to call him
that because he had so many names. I want to
make sure that I don't confuse anyone with not He
is the He's an ancestor of this pirate, He's the
great great whatever, right I mean?

Speaker 1 (29:31):
I did he did quote Reynand's ghost before he knew
anything about tech Renn and being involved in this.

Speaker 3 (29:36):
Yes, And I think that person may have been for
Sensitive or maybe and he and he because he is
a descendant, he has some connection to the force that
way too, but not very strong, which is why I
can only do a little bit of it, and not
as much as he would like. Because you would think
a guy who use the force would push everybody away
when they're like arrest him or something like. He doesn't

(29:57):
use it in any kind of situation where he needs
to use it. He only just p and pushes things away,
which is weird. Well, he didn't put He just pulls
things toward him or move stuff.

Speaker 1 (30:04):
But to be honest, you don't see Jedi doing that,
and unless you're watching like a cartoon. You don't see
Jedi doing that in large situations with a lot of people.
If it clones are droids, that's a different story. I
think more he hasn't had an opportunity to actually use utilize.
I agree with him that he's probably on the loan.
He doesn't have a lot.

Speaker 3 (30:24):
We would get caught by a bunch of pirates like
that if he had the force like something.

Speaker 1 (30:29):
He would if he knew he would, should have a
desk star.

Speaker 3 (30:33):
He was ninety. I'm like, no, I'm just I'm just
saying like it just it just seems like, uh, for
as as freely as he is able to seemingly use it,
it's not something that we see him like focusing or
trying hard to do. He can just do it. It
seems like in a moment where like you know, you're
trying to escape or something, it would be like he
just doesn't utilize it when he needs it.

Speaker 1 (30:54):
You know, I'm leaning more towards Joey's theory that he
was was a Jedi at some point, was a trained
as a youngling, but I think he got out long
before he did all of it, and then is now
you know, he understands, he understands where he came from
and all that, but he doesn't utilize it as in
his day of life unless unless it suits his needs.

Speaker 4 (31:16):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (31:17):
Yeah, I think like the only the only untrained person
we've ever seen use the force and just grab something,
as the little boy at the end of the Last Jedi.

Speaker 3 (31:28):
Should we don't talk about that?

Speaker 2 (31:32):
Yeah, everybody, Like everybody who uses the force to like
grab something was trained to some degree.

Speaker 1 (31:39):
Yeah, yeah, because I think he got to. You have
to recognize that you have that connection with the force
and us enough to try to manipulate it and try
to use it.

Speaker 3 (31:48):
But also Disney Star Wars not Not not not the
Star Wars hasn't had this, I guess out there, but
Disney Star Wars is really big on the Anyone can
really tap into this if he just really practice and
hard to do it. You know, we did watch someone
become a Jedi throughout a show who was already a Mandalorian.

(32:08):
Uh So, I don't know. I'm just curious if they're
going to like write off him using the forces, like, yeah,
just some people do that, man, you know what I'm saying,
Like the people some people pull things to them with
the force.

Speaker 2 (32:18):
Like, to me, this one in this episode really like
perked up my ears because I was just like, wait
a second, Like in the in the cell, that very
much could have been a trick of some sort, yeah,
you know, and where this was very clearly like, Okay,
he's in an uncontrolled environment and did something this that
that first one wasn't like opposed you know, he was

(32:39):
strings or something.

Speaker 1 (32:40):
Yeah, I mean even when he pulled he pulled Whim's
data pad up for him. Yeah, no, that was just
in the moment. He didn't even plan to be there.

Speaker 2 (32:48):
Yeah. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (32:50):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (32:51):
So but here's here's the best part about it. Like,
I know, by this point, and you know, sorry, I
guts to bring up the other show, but by this episode,
in the last show, we were just like, man, if
this happens, so what this happens, Like we were just
like already getting prepared to be like let down by
whatever they were going to do if he decides if
it is anything we said or absolutely nothing we said.
I'm like, none of that's going to bother me. It's

(33:12):
just like okay, cool, that's what it is. And that's
such a good feeling to have it as show.

Speaker 1 (33:19):
Do you think that we get back to ad at
in before episode eight we had two left, we had
seven and eight. Do you think we get back there
before eight?

Speaker 3 (33:27):
I if this is going to truly be an eighties
goony style ending the lap when they get to that,
AD needs to be like them landing and their parents there,
kids running credit crash and just blow up.

Speaker 2 (33:38):
No one's kidding, like we're just like a rough landing,
like we've we got here and that's like credits.

Speaker 3 (33:44):
Roll Wim, we know, Wim jumps in his dad's arm
and they hug and like that's it, you know what
I'm saying, Like at the happy ending, because this is
a kid's story.

Speaker 1 (33:52):
That's closing shots, Sneil, I think it's all the kids
to their parents. And you even saw you saw Kb's
parents worried about Art because she doesn't have like treatment
for cybernetics.

Speaker 3 (34:03):
Which I'm super interested in that dynamic of Star Wars
because I'm not I mean they're probably, I mean, I'm
surely there has been, but like I don't recall seeing
a character this droid slash human like in.

Speaker 1 (34:16):
Uh, have you watched the Book of.

Speaker 3 (34:18):
Fat oh Man? Well? I did?

Speaker 1 (34:21):
Have you? Have you have you watched The Empire Return
of the Jedi, e Piser strikes back. Well, yeah, she's.

Speaker 2 (34:26):
So much lobot, right yeah.

Speaker 3 (34:29):
Well yeah, okay, yeah yeah yeah, No, it's it's just
watching these.

Speaker 2 (34:32):
Things we've seen.

Speaker 1 (34:32):
We've seen cybernetics, cybernetic body parts like uik Shann has
her whole internal organs kb kb's injury that got replaced
was in her head, so it's a little different.

Speaker 3 (34:45):
That was like they literally took out like a cartridge
in the back of her head and like put it
in like a PlayStation disc. I was like, wow, that's
that's kind of crazy.

Speaker 2 (34:51):
Like make sure.

Speaker 3 (34:54):
Which which by the random tangent not randomangent side note.
Took my kids Sound like three over the holidays and
they do a bit with that where they're blowing on.
They're blowing on they have a USB drive and it
doesn't work and working, and James Marsen pulls out it
was like, let me show you something that we do
back in the nineties, and he put it in his
shirt and blew it. I was like, dude, thank you
for doing that. Sega No, I guess, I guess. More so,

(35:17):
I was just like, yeah, when you those characters you
mentioned are like seed people who got shot there or
like you know, had her. It's like, was this girl
just like sick or like like that? That's more so
what I'm in justed like, wow, I've never seen it
used that way where like she can't I guess, I
just I guess Phinnix Chan's not like if you take
this out, I'll die, you know. She was like literally

(35:38):
like I'm gonna die if you don't fix this real quick.

Speaker 1 (35:40):
Like he's there who doesn't have her in Haler and
all of the.

Speaker 3 (35:43):
Yeah, yeah that that yeah, that type which yeah, but
I just think it's a cool way to implement it. It
was a good that episode gave a good way to
give tention with Whim trying to savor Not that I
thought he wouldn't, you know, but it was just cool
to have a different kind of spence in this other
than someone's chasing you.

Speaker 1 (36:02):
Well, we got different perspectives into the kids. They both
they all faced real seriousness in ways that they hadn't yet.
So in the episode before Neil on the war planet
and Fern with them almost being that they had to
face the reality of hey, you're not a captain and
also you're not home anymore for Neil. And then this
episode it was more for women KB to face face

(36:27):
their you know, their fears and their their seriousness. Like
Wim had to realize, Okay, I have to be serious here.
I have to do something real. This isn't a game anymore.
And KB had to face you know, we saw real
stakes for her from the fact that she doesn't have
the maintenance that she needs and support and she has
to rely on a kid who's never done this before,

(36:48):
and when her best friend is off because the best
friend doesn't understand that she has those limitations like these,
These were real stakes for these kids that we got
to see them learn and grow from. And I think
that it'll be upwards from here. I don't think we'll
see those kind of things for them again, because we've
had two straight episodes now of them facing those things.
I think the next two are gonna be really them
coming into their stride and working together as as a

(37:09):
group and a team and finding their way back home
and doing what they need to do. No or you know,
and some hijiks of course, because you can't be without those.

Speaker 2 (37:18):
M I do have to confess I was wrong. I
just saw that Legos that you were referring to.

Speaker 3 (37:27):
The fact that the sound, the.

Speaker 2 (37:30):
Fact that they the ship does not split apart, is
what's keeping me safe. Okay, okay, good, good good, And
there's no plushes yeat. I also did some research there too.

Speaker 1 (37:40):
Maybe maybe there's some in park stuff like they don't
release online. They do a lot of that in store.
They're probably like a little skeleton cre section.

Speaker 2 (37:49):
Heck, yeah, I'm what if he's just walking around?

Speaker 1 (37:54):
Well they just barely him ah Soka last year, So
I don't think o'neally.

Speaker 3 (38:00):
You pick a Neil, you put them on your back
like a backpack, and you run out of Disney World,
which you're going to.

Speaker 2 (38:13):
That's amazing to me. I just I also that also
blew my mind recently.

Speaker 1 (38:18):
Well, we can feel a little bit less for ragging
on you for not knowing that there was a lego
set for the last episode.

Speaker 2 (38:25):
Yeah, the Onyx cender before we moved to the next episode.

Speaker 1 (38:29):
Well we've kind of been going for both episodes, I know.

Speaker 2 (38:31):
But the Hut oh that was.

Speaker 3 (38:37):
Who was forgotten?

Speaker 2 (38:38):
There was who had uh a hut taking a mud
bath in there on their big old card? Anybody?

Speaker 1 (38:46):
Well, al he tries to eat the attendant and then
it's like not again.

Speaker 3 (38:49):
Not again. Yeah no, yeah, just the yeah, no, the Hut.
The Hut was a great was a.

Speaker 2 (38:55):
They have just slipped in Zero's voice, but really they had.

Speaker 1 (38:59):
A great mix of known, known aliens that we've seen
and then ones that's huge.

Speaker 2 (39:04):
That was Honestly, if you were to tell me to
say one thing about the sequels that I hate, it's
that it's there's no recognizable aliens other than like returning characters. Yeah,
like throw a Twilight in there, like.

Speaker 3 (39:21):
Just yeah, yeah, Star Wars needs to like like like
in your in, your in, like Star Wars now needs
to have like those because you can't afford to have
all these kind of diverse characters. Yeah, you know, we
get it. You couldn't do it back in the seventies.
Eighties might have been a little hard to do. Jewbacca
was probably at your limit of like what you could
probably do, you know, But I just, yeah, I want

(39:42):
to see more aliens.

Speaker 2 (39:43):
The fact that the like I'm lost the Casino Planet,
like you can't tell my Yeah you can't.

Speaker 1 (39:50):
There's not one we know we know can'tl Bat from
playing Outlaws.

Speaker 3 (39:53):
Yeah, yes, we do.

Speaker 2 (39:57):
I'm hopping over to the other side here. I'm just
I've been playing Hogwarts Legacy NonStop and I haven't even
played Jedi Survivor yet.

Speaker 3 (40:04):
Hey, Hogwarts Legacy is a fun game, man, it is.

Speaker 2 (40:07):
It is really fun anyway, back to back, back to Dumbledore,
I mean John.

Speaker 1 (40:13):
So I guess the Hut is one of the twins
from book aba fat?

Speaker 2 (40:18):
Oh okay, that's fun really.

Speaker 1 (40:20):
According to the Internet, Oh, I.

Speaker 2 (40:22):
Know who's winning come back. I know who's winning comeback player.

Speaker 3 (40:25):
Internet's never led me astray, so I'm gonna believe this.

Speaker 2 (40:29):
Well, should we should we jump into awards? I think
that will spawn some more conversation.

Speaker 1 (40:34):
Yeah, let's consult the Jedi Council and uh prepare.

Speaker 3 (40:37):
Really it's time to give Neil his flowers.

Speaker 2 (40:41):
I must speak with the Jedi Council immediately.

Speaker 3 (40:43):
The situation has become much more complicated.

Speaker 1 (40:47):
Joey, you were not able to give a ruling last episode,
so we'll throw it over to you first.

Speaker 2 (40:53):
I'm gonna say Master. I mean, like, there's no lull
other than like the run time things like though that
gets a little frustrating, but like it's just it keeps going.
It's not like Wild Turns. This is all all good.

Speaker 1 (41:10):
Yeah, I'll like go up Master for me. Also the
same thing, the run time doesn't even bother me this
time through. I mean it did in previous shows that
we were watching. This time, it's just they're telling me
a great story, and I think they're starting and ending
at at good start and end points. It makes sense
to me that they would do this, whereas some of
the other shows that we watched they've cut an episode,

(41:30):
it'd be like, well, you could have done more there,
or you could have cut this in a different place. Yeah,
I'm happy with it there.

Speaker 2 (41:38):
And I think the runtime thing is what we were
talking about earlier, where we knew where we had to
end up, So a twenty minute runtime did not make
sense like it Obi won when you're sitting there, like
we have to get back to Tattooed and there's so
much we have to do before. Then why are we
here with a twenty minute episode? We're here, we don't
know where we're going.

Speaker 3 (41:56):
So it's fine, and I'm just gonna round it up
with Masters as well. Steady as she goes consistent. I'm
smiling from her ear. The jokes are hitting with me.
And the kids. The heart is present, insane. I'm curious
to see what happens with John and the kids relationship

(42:19):
from here, because it seems like it's gonna be a
role reversal with the kids are going to need to
rescue him.

Speaker 1 (42:24):
You know.

Speaker 3 (42:25):
Yeah, So I'm just I'm just I'm just really excited
about about the conclusion of the show. But yeah, definitely
for me, it's masters still going really good.

Speaker 1 (42:32):
All right, let's hand out some awards and we'll start
off with MVP, and I'd like to open the nominations
with saying I think Whim has finally earned his MVP.

Speaker 3 (42:44):
Yeah yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1 (42:45):
I mean stepping up to save KB, stepping up to
to remember to how to get them out of the
situation that they were in, and just trying to be
a badass and stand up to a guy he thought
was a Jedi.

Speaker 2 (42:59):
Yeah yeah, yeah, no matter how you hold that lightsaber.

Speaker 3 (43:04):
Yeah, he dropped it with a scream.

Speaker 1 (43:08):
He's lucky he still have kids someday.

Speaker 3 (43:10):
Yeah. Yeah. Also, the quick reaction to thankfully that that
booby trap just led to like a shoot that knocks
you out into like a trash shoot or something, because man,
his quick thank and save their lives and so yeah, no,
he's great man and he also saved KB.

Speaker 1 (43:28):
He was cool under pressure, all right, and our comeback player,
it's gotta be the Hut, a character that you said
came from book theoretically. All right, we'll call it a
ben Hut because I don't know their name.

Speaker 2 (43:45):
Just let's just pretend to zero.

Speaker 1 (43:47):
Sounds like a football play. Yeah, all right, I'm on board.
Who's our rookie Pocket?

Speaker 3 (43:57):
Yeah, I was gonna say he's the only person that
was new, like like or we could the kalas.

Speaker 1 (44:06):
That guy Pocket.

Speaker 3 (44:09):
Let's go Pocke because I can say it.

Speaker 1 (44:11):
There's the boarding lady. I I got to look up
the actress because I know I've seen her and stuff before,
Like it comes up and he's bribing to get the
better room.

Speaker 2 (44:19):
Yeah, I like she was fun.

Speaker 1 (44:21):
Yeah, she's listed as Hotelier Hotelier. She's played by Julianne
Julie Anne Emery. She's been on things like Fargo, The
Rookie Elsbeth like guest starring. It's been a better call
Saul hmm. And I think I I realized what I

(44:41):
recognized her from. She was on the Amazon Prime show bosh,
Oh is that our Is that our vote to her?

Speaker 3 (44:49):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (44:50):
All right, rookie the episode the hotel here and for
our skiing award.

Speaker 4 (44:56):
See, I was torn. I was thinking pocket, but also like,
clearly John just keeps doing bad stuff and he has
it coming, so I pivoted back to John.

Speaker 1 (45:10):
It's our own fault because we gave him the heart
of Gold when you weren't here.

Speaker 2 (45:14):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (45:15):
I mean, he wasn't gonna harder, but he did have
a blade with the neck of a child.

Speaker 2 (45:21):
Yeah, that'll that'll get you some skin turned on them.

Speaker 3 (45:24):
Yeah, literally left like well, like he didn't leave them,
they left him, but like, yeah, he was plenting throw
him at a brig and locking him up. Now, whether
he was gonna do bad things from there, we don't know,
but the optics aren't great. My guy.

Speaker 1 (45:38):
Well, we can give him heart of Gold again if
he were deep himself. Yeah, but as of right now,
he has gotten the skin ord.

Speaker 3 (45:44):
We love a great redemption story all.

Speaker 2 (45:47):
And should we add a tally board just for this
show of names for Jude Law?

Speaker 1 (45:53):
How many means?

Speaker 3 (45:54):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (45:54):
It's like what four or five?

Speaker 3 (45:56):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (45:56):
