Speaker 1 (00:00):
A long time ago in a galaxy far far away.

Speaker 2 (00:36):
Welcome to Always Hold on to Star Wars, because just
what the Internet needed was another podcast talking about Star Wars.
I'm one of your hosts, Joey, and joining me today
are the usual suspects. We've got Chris Hello there and
Cavante how's it going? And today I want everybody to
get ready for the ultimate showdown. Cinderella stories, buzzer beaters

(00:59):
and I could busting action. Who Will Rise? Who Will Fall?
This is Always hold on to Star Wars March Madness.

Speaker 3 (01:09):
I was like, you gotta find like the CBS Sports Music,
ah Man, because just what Star Wars fans needed.

Speaker 2 (01:17):
More sports talk, more debate.

Speaker 3 (01:21):
Yes, no, I'm excited about it, uh because I've never
done this before and I'm I'm I'm genuinely excited about it.

Speaker 1 (01:26):
Well, it's good that you're jumping in on something that
you know isn't really basketball.

Speaker 2 (01:30):
But yeah, we're just really turning into Always Hold on
To Star Wars combined with sports. You know, we've got
our March Madness, we've got our Draft. Later on, we're
just gonna slowly, we slowly start just creeping in. It's
just gonna be all sports themed.

Speaker 3 (01:45):
If we just continue to play internet games confused with
Star Wars trivia, I'm not gonna be upset.

Speaker 1 (01:53):
No, guys. Pretty soon we'll we'll be up against the
wall with and or releasing and three episodes a week.

Speaker 3 (02:00):
Oh my god, Yes, yeah, I'm ready for that.

Speaker 1 (02:02):
I'm super ready to watch it. But it's gonna be
it's gonna be tough to record and cover.

Speaker 2 (02:07):
I don't know what you guys are talking about. I'm
not I'm not gonna have to work. I'll be on
baby duty at that time. So oh, I don't know
if the world knows that, but we'll have a little
one floating around soon, and uh, I'll just be laying
down watching, watching and or and playing video games and
taking care of a baby.

Speaker 1 (02:25):
Life is grand, as you know that the second one.
You still got to worry about the first one.

Speaker 2 (02:29):
Yeah, oh gosh, yeah no, I played so many video
games with my first one, and yeah, life so well,
he's still going to daycare. I mean, yeah, I'm gonna
wake out, drive him over to daycare and then it's
just baby time.

Speaker 3 (02:43):
Then baby and or video game time.

Speaker 1 (02:45):
Yes, all right, so let's tell the people how this
is gonna work. We are going to release two episodes. Okay,
so this is just part one. This is the Kessel
Rundown of our Star Wars March Madness where we give
you the brackets. We're gonna give you our entries, our

(03:06):
thirty two entries into our Star Wars Low March Madness competition.
If you're not familiar with it, everything is seated. There's
matchups against the top seed against the bottom seed, and
the winner moves on until you get to one winner
out of all the different areas. We have four regions.
We have our Legends regions, so anything from legends. We're

(03:28):
talking movies, TV shows, books, video games. So we'll be
breaking down each matchup, telling you who is the winner
from our voting, and crowning a Star Wars March Madness champion.
Guys applause, fan fare, cheering.

Speaker 2 (03:45):
Should we just call this always hold on to Madness?
Is that what we're going to call this?

Speaker 1 (03:49):
Sure that works? Always hold on to Madness?

Speaker 3 (03:54):
There we go.

Speaker 1 (03:56):
Yeah, So what we did is start is we each
we each took a bracket a time a time frame.
We drew a line in the sand about anything in
this time in this part of the timeline is a
part of the prequel era, and then this is part
of the Rebellion Empire era.

Speaker 2 (04:10):
It may have come down to physical altercations in order
to get the content we wanted in our region.

Speaker 1 (04:18):
There there was a little bit of sneaking.

Speaker 3 (04:20):
No one fought with me over my region. I wonder
why you've.

Speaker 2 (04:24):
Got You've got the new Disney Plus shows in your region.

Speaker 3 (04:27):
You're but just you know, not a lot of fuss over,
like you know, Alcolid, you know, just curious.

Speaker 1 (04:32):
So Joey ended up with the prequel era, I ended
up with the ot era, and keV ended up with
the sequel era. It was completely random. There was no
shade in there. Uh honestly, I I I think I
found it the most difficult to like find eight entries

(04:55):
in my time frame, Like that's the original it's it's
the most but that's there's the last least explored, I
guess at this point.

Speaker 3 (05:02):
Now yeah, yeah, yeah, no, I I I had I
had to put that. I had to cut some things, man.

Speaker 1 (05:07):
Yeah. And then we'll also we'll all we'll go into
it and and decide on the legend stuff at the
end of this episode, are we ready to die right in.

Speaker 3 (05:18):
Yeah, man, I'm ready to see what you guys picked
for your for your brackets.

Speaker 1 (05:21):
You know I got the I got the drafts on them.
I had like, do do do do do do do?
But that's not it. It's something else you could tell.
Only one of us here is a college sports enthusiast
as much as the one wearing the college hat here, Joey.

Speaker 2 (05:37):
My team, my team's never made it to the tournament
since I went to college. So I the day the
day then.

Speaker 3 (05:43):
I make it, and you're apparently the reason the day.

Speaker 2 (05:46):
Then I Huskies make the tournament. I am. I don't
care how old I am. I will be taking the
day off. I will be going to the cal Illinois
and just just basking in the gloria.

Speaker 1 (06:00):
Let's get let's get into it, all right.

Speaker 2 (06:10):
All right? So for the first region is going to
be the Prequel era, and as we all know, I
don't care for the prequels too much, so we'll get
this out of the way easy. The first matchup is
going to be the number one seed. Everybody, Revenge of
the Sith.

Speaker 1 (06:31):
We are shocked.

Speaker 3 (06:32):
Yes, I did not know that. I didn't see that
one coming.

Speaker 2 (06:35):
I could see this one going all the way.

Speaker 3 (06:40):
You can see this one going all the way?

Speaker 2 (06:41):
You said, yes, I can see Revenge of the Sith
making it pretty far, and then going up against the
Eighth Seed, one of the most important stories in Star
Wars history, Attack of the Clones.

Speaker 1 (06:54):
Wow. Okay, I'm curious to see what's in the middle.

Speaker 2 (07:01):
Here, But I may have broken some rules here my
two seed. I I didn't go for the entirety of
the entire program. I focused in on the final arc
of the Clone Wars, the Siege of Mandalor just just
s just the season, season manage. With just those three episodes,
you could cut them into a movie. Those are the

(07:22):
ones that are running alongside of Revenge of the Sith,
with the Soca, all of that.

Speaker 3 (07:27):
So the two seed, that's that's what I can't I
can't wait for you guys to lose it in my brein.

Speaker 2 (07:36):
So, Siege of Mandalor is a two seed?

Speaker 1 (07:39):
Wow?

Speaker 2 (07:40):
Going yes, going against the Seventh Seed. I really dug
far back into the timeline. The Light of the Jedi,
the first book in the High Republic series.

Speaker 3 (07:52):
I like that one.

Speaker 2 (07:53):
I think it had had a big cultural impact. It
started an entire new branch of Star Wars lore, and
I think there's I think there's a potential matchup.

Speaker 1 (08:03):
Yeah, We're all over the board here, we are.

Speaker 2 (08:08):
I'm just bouncing around here. And then I think, I
think Zach Moore may pick this to be Cinderella story.
My my my three seed is Obi Wan Kenobi.

Speaker 1 (08:20):
Oh, the Disney Plus TV show.

Speaker 2 (08:23):
Yep, the Disney Plus TV show going against the sixth seed. Oh,
this actually, this is this is making up for a
tough matchup here, Dark Disciple.

Speaker 3 (08:32):
Oh. Internally, now I'm torn, but I know my pick.

Speaker 1 (08:39):
It's like, wait, hold on, it's like two of the
three things that Quinland Voss had.

Speaker 2 (08:46):
That that is the Queenland Foss Bawl right there. And
then finally the four and five seed, the Phantom Menace
versus the New Throng trilogy that all took. That's the
I put the whole I loved the whole trilogy together.
It's the one that takes place early early Empire, kind
of right at the turn of the war.

Speaker 1 (09:08):
There's all there's a trilogy out for that.

Speaker 2 (09:10):
Yeah, it's prior to Rebels. Okay, at least the well,
at least the first book is, and then the second
book is Mid Rebels, but it's told fifty to fifty
mid Rebels and Clone Wars. They kind of bounce back
and forth between Anakin and Vade. They do two parallel
stories where Anakin and Thron are working together and Vader
and Thron are working together. Okay, it's all still prequel.

Speaker 1 (09:32):
That's interesting considering the the the original Throng trilogy was
like all post, wasn't.

Speaker 2 (09:37):
It yep yep? So this is more the first book
I love the most because it's about his rise, his
rise into through the imperial ranks. They find him on
a far out planet and they bring him in and
he quickly rises through the ranks, and very good book.

Speaker 1 (09:57):
What do you think any early speculation on the mat here,
considering we really don't know how this is gonna play out, Yeah,
this is all. This is all speculative. I'm not I'm
not pulling the wool over anybody. We really, we really
don't know how this is gonna play out. So this
is all just personal guessing.

Speaker 2 (10:14):
Honestly, the Phantom Menace might make a run. I could
see that. I could see uh, and Dark Disciple, I mean,
if if you get out of that that three six
matchup you can. You can really move along there too.

Speaker 1 (10:26):
Yeah, I think it's gonna hurt the season mandal or
being in the you know, immediately gonna end up going
against Render the seth Yeah, but yeah, that's a guarantee.
That's a runaway game.

Speaker 3 (10:36):
We know that.

Speaker 2 (10:37):
Yeah, Yeah, I don't know. It could be close, It
could be close. It could be close.

Speaker 3 (10:42):
Nice job, Joey.

Speaker 1 (10:43):
Moving on to the next part of the timeline. What
are we calling this region? Are we calling it? Like
I really like Age of the Rebellion, but it could
be also Age of the Empire.

Speaker 2 (10:54):
We could carry on from last time and we could
just call it Regular Star Wars.

Speaker 3 (11:00):
It's Regular Star Wars.

Speaker 1 (11:02):
Regular Star Wars, all right, the Regular Star Wars region
starting out strong. Honestly, on my personal rankings, I would
not do it this way, but I feel like I
can't ignore the power, I can't ignore the hold, and
the number one seed has to be on Pire strikes Back.

(11:24):
I personally prefer New Hope more, but I think and
Pire Strikes Back is the stronger of the two. They
might they might have tied the head to head match up,
but yes, B had the better divisional record. I don't know,
And then going up against the video game Outlaws, which
also takes place at a time frame that is my

(11:46):
eighth seed.

Speaker 2 (11:48):
There's a chance there you Cinderella.

Speaker 1 (11:50):
They sure sure if you say so. It's also the
only opportunity we have to have Kira in this because
you did not include Solo.

Speaker 2 (12:01):
I did not.

Speaker 1 (12:02):
It's a masterpiece that was Solo. It's down. It's down
their matching up with the Accolade.

Speaker 2 (12:11):
You know, just Solo just didn't make it out of
their conference. Man, their conference. They tried their best.

Speaker 1 (12:19):
Yeah, I mean, honestly, Outlaws is I I I really
enjoyed play. I know I had some wonky gameplay and
there were some glitches that people didn't like, but I
I enjoyed the story. I've played it multiple times. I mean,
I know it's a ever evolving role. There's like DLC
you can get. It's pretty cool. Anyways, number two seed

(12:41):
a new hope.

Speaker 3 (12:43):
Man, what a second round matchup.

Speaker 1 (12:46):
It's gonna be tough about this, but you know what,
to be the best, you got to go against the best,
and it'll be curious to see how that plays out.
Because you know what, I don't know if I shared
it yet, Like the categories that we're gonna be rating
these on. I think there's a play that you could
have some upsets.

Speaker 3 (13:03):
Yeah yeah, that brilliant idea is what's going to balance
this out.

Speaker 1 (13:06):
That's a tease that I will get to later. So
keep listening, all right. Against the seventh Seed, the animated
TV show rebels.

Speaker 2 (13:17):
Oh man, there could be an upset right there.

Speaker 3 (13:21):
There's my favorite. I'd watch that one. I'd lose a
couple of hours at work watching that one.

Speaker 2 (13:27):
Yeah, I would second screen that.

Speaker 1 (13:30):
You know, you're.

Speaker 3 (13:33):
In my lap, you know, you know we've all done it.
It may or may not be how I watched the
first episode of The Mandalorian back in the day.

Speaker 1 (13:41):
Oh yeah, The Mandalorian was one of those just like Arrow.
When Arrow came out. It's like when it first time,
I was like, I don't need this show. I'm not
gonna And then when everyone's being blown away by it
and talking about how amazing it is and you have
to give it a shot, and like, yep, yep, I
see it. Okay, I'm in yeah, all right. Uh the
three Seed Rogue one, mm hmm. That's that they you know,

(14:08):
they were gunning for the number one spot. It was close.
I think they can make a run in this tournament.

Speaker 3 (14:13):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (14:13):
This that's up real well for Rogue one because you
don't have to go against the heavy hitters right away.
You've got some time.

Speaker 1 (14:20):
Yeah. Uh and number six seed the Jedi Fallen Order
Survivor games. I looped them in together. It's a continuing story.
It takes place, you know, relatively along the same timeframe.
It's all pre uh battle you haven I think outside
of being like great video games to play, the story

(14:41):
that they're telling is an amazing Star Wars story. If
you don't play video games and you just want some
Star Wars content, go go on YouTube and find the
cut scenes for this, for Fallen Order and then for
Jedi Survivor because this story is so much fun. Yeah,
it's such a great way. They've built such great Star
Wars characters that I would love to see get like

(15:03):
a live action show.

Speaker 3 (15:04):
Yeah. I need people to know about Calcasts. Yeah, he's
becoming like one of my favorite JITs.

Speaker 1 (15:10):
It's going to be a trilogy of the game. They're
making a third one, so that's probably what's hindering it
from appearing in anything we've seen so far, or or
may see I don't know, we'll see something in Indoor
season two, who knows, but yeah, probably not. I would
bet against it, but I am anxious to see where
the story goes and how it's going to finish, and
I love playing those games. My four seed is the

(15:34):
aforementioned show and or I like, I can't wait for
season two to yeah, if it's as good as if
it's as good as the first season, Like everything's done
the same way, the same type of storytelling and character
ability and everything like that, Like because of where it
lands and how much they're story that has potential to

(15:55):
be some of the best Star Wars I've ever seen.
I don't think I'm exaggerating. I really think what they're
going to talk tackle and the different levels that they show,
like the in depth of the ISB or you know,
the regular rebellions happening on obscure planets, or you know
Cassian and all the bank heist. That's like it was

(16:16):
so good, I can't wait.

Speaker 2 (16:19):
It's it's gonna be great.

Speaker 1 (16:22):
And then lastly my five seed, which is not lastly
at all, but uh could not be this bracket without
return of the Jedi five seed.

Speaker 2 (16:31):
For if somebody would have told me Return of the
Jedi is a five seed. I would have believed you.
But looking at this, that's the only place that belongs.

Speaker 3 (16:38):
Yeah, you have the most competitive right now.

Speaker 2 (16:42):
Yeah, this is gonna be this is gonna be pretty intense.

Speaker 1 (16:45):
Yeah, there's no runaways on mind. Well maybe the first
one still though.

Speaker 2 (16:49):
I mean as it goes down the road, I mean,
Empire strikes back, going up against you know, potential rogue one.
You know who's gonna win that Empire strikes back, going
against a new hope. That's difficult.

Speaker 1 (17:01):
That's what makes us fun. This is where the fun begins.
It is, all right, keV, let's hear it for yours.

Speaker 3 (17:08):
Okay, all right, this is the sequel Disney Plus era bracket,
and I'll give you my my matchups and tell you
why my thing behind them at number one off just
pure cultural impact. The only saving grace I think this
era has uh consistently has been the Mandalorian matching up
against the eighth seed Battlefront two the video game.

Speaker 1 (17:32):
That's another one. That's another one that if you want
like a decent story, watch the cut scenes from that.

Speaker 3 (17:39):
He's a good character, a character.

Speaker 1 (17:41):
You get some classic Luke Skywalker in that.

Speaker 3 (17:43):
Yes, I don't.

Speaker 1 (17:44):
I don't want to spoil anything, but.

Speaker 3 (17:46):
All right, at number three and see, and this is
we're in a sequeler. At number three, I'm going with
the thing that started at all, the thing that actually
everyone loved it first and now everyone hates the Force Awakens.
That's a lot of fun on I love the Force Awakens.

Speaker 2 (18:01):
You know, cultural impact huge, Everybody was talking about it.

Speaker 1 (18:06):
It's starts. I think it started this like hype of
who's this character, who's her parents, where's she from? What's
this who's Finn, what's his what's his history? And like
the anticipation between The Force Awakens and the Last Jedi.
I think that like started that trend of us going
nuts about things. Maybe maybe not started. I'm sure there

(18:27):
are other things before that, but that that really kicked
it off.

Speaker 3 (18:30):
And you know what, Chris, you couldn't have laid it
out perfectly for me, because you know what, a good
tournament needs a great first round rivalry match, because my
sixth seed is, in fact the last Jedi. This is
but the last Jedi, you know, I believe Look, we've
we've talked to death, but I will tell you that

(18:50):
I think The Last Jedi is the prettiest Star Wars
movie I think there is. I think it is one
of the most best directed. I think it's one of
the most well acted Star Wars movie. The story, we
can talk about that, but it gave us Mark one
of Mark Hamill's best performances as a character, even though
we didn't like the way he went with it. Kyler
Rinn was a very interesting like it had everything to
be a great movie, except the story didn't go well

(19:11):
with the fans.

Speaker 1 (19:13):
You know, Honestly, I'm on record and saying there's a
lot of that movie that I really did enjoy outside
of one thing that kind of ruined it for me.

Speaker 3 (19:20):
Little canto bite.

Speaker 1 (19:22):
Yeah, that's it.

Speaker 3 (19:24):
Okay, moving on to my two seed. I'm going with
the Soca. We got a seed, yes, because we got
to see Anakin again. He's they brought him back.

Speaker 2 (19:38):
They did. They did bring Anakin back.

Speaker 3 (19:40):
They did, I know, but this was the way I
wanted to see. We saw him in the in the bracket,
But I like this one. Okay, matching up against number seven,
I'm reading my bracket. Yeah, no, this is correct. I
put this the Rise of Skywalker.

Speaker 1 (19:59):
Whoa, whoa? Whoa the Rise of Skywalker before Battlefront two.

Speaker 2 (20:05):
Yes, it's disrespectful the Battlefront two.

Speaker 1 (20:10):
I mean, honestly, they're both gonna lose first round, but
I still I would have left that off my bracket.

Speaker 3 (20:18):
There's not much I can pick from last year. Here goes,
here goes to four, and five and and and and
I think four be easy. Five, I'll have to give
some caveats. Four, the fourth one I'm gonna go out
of the surprise of the year, also being a surprise
four seed, I'm going with Skeleton Crew.

Speaker 2 (20:36):
Okay, hold on, guys, I just need to go back
and make Accolade a seventh seed for me and in
the prequel era.

Speaker 3 (20:47):
And at the fifth seed this this this team was
literally carried by an episode and a cameo appearance. But
we're going to book a Bubba Fett. And there is
my bracket, y'all.

Speaker 1 (21:03):
No, that's solid.

Speaker 2 (21:04):
Yeah, there's some matchups there. There's there's some serious matchups.

Speaker 3 (21:08):
All I know from my satellite observing of March Madness
is every time I see these experts talk about a bracket,
there's always one matchup like how did this happen? That's
my Rise of Skywalker.

Speaker 2 (21:23):
Ahsoka is in both of those. In both she's in
Asoka and Rise of Skywalker. If we if we previewed it,
if in a lot of this, if you.

Speaker 3 (21:36):
Were Lesoka is a coaching tree definitely present in this tournament.

Speaker 2 (21:40):
If you were listening to a talk show talking about
that match up ahead of time, and somebody was saying,
you know, we've got a huge matchup. You know, you've
got Palpatine with cameos by Ahsoka in both, You've got
a cameos by Anakin Skywalker, and both they're both going
to be there. It's Ahsoka versus Rise of Skywalker. Yes,
those are just those have too much in common now

(22:02):
that I'm looking at them. They match up real interestingly
well against each other.

Speaker 1 (22:05):
We'll have to see how it plays out. I do
think it speaks volumes, Like you just said that you
have a high republic book in here ahead of the Accolae,
I do. I do.

Speaker 3 (22:16):
The ACA Lite was that team that was heavily hyped
up before the season. They were like, oh yea, They're
definitely going to be in the tournament, and then they
just fumbled out of the gate and just couldn't.

Speaker 1 (22:25):
Recover the twenty twenty four New York Jets.

Speaker 3 (22:29):
They had an injury, like a Jedi dying in the
first episode, you know, like the injury the first first
game of the season. They Aaron Rodgers it and it
was just that was a season right there.

Speaker 1 (22:38):
One Jedi just sat on the bench decide not to
play for ten years.

Speaker 3 (22:41):
Yeah, he set out for a contract.

Speaker 1 (22:44):
You know, this could go anywhere. There's gonna be some
some shockers, some Cinderella stories.

Speaker 3 (22:53):
Yeah, I'm excited about it.

Speaker 1 (22:54):
I wait to see what it is. All right. So
our final region is the Legends region, and this is
open for discussion between the three of us. So I
propose we take turns nominating something and then we can
discuss where we think it should fall on the seating.
How does that sound.

Speaker 2 (23:15):
We'll do it like those TikTok videos where they say,
just pick a number.

Speaker 1 (23:20):
Well that's pretty random.

Speaker 2 (23:21):
Well, we'll all decide on the number. We'll come together,
but we have to guess what's coming next. From kind
of snake drafted where Chris, you'll put something out there,
we'll all decide where that's going to fall. Oh, like
a blind ranking, blind ranking, that's what it is, yes,
all right, blind ranking let's solid because we don't know

(23:42):
what's coming next.

Speaker 1 (23:43):
That's good, Okay, okay, Joey start us off. Oh gosh,
on my screen, you're on the top, I'm in the middle,
and Kev's on the bottom.

Speaker 2 (23:50):
So yep, I am going to say my favorite piece
of Legends media. Throughout my there are things that I
think are better, but one of my favorite things is
the Force of Leash video games. That was Ohn cinnicle
for me at ten years old playing those games.

Speaker 1 (24:12):
Yes, the Barracks, you know, for what it was at
the time, and yeah, you know Sam wit Werer and man. Yeah,
and I don't know. I have a hard time thinking
of anything else as the one seed.

Speaker 2 (24:31):
Really, all right, I would have I would have jumped
out and said three or four somewhere in that range
for talking Legends.

Speaker 1 (24:40):
It's going to be mostly video games and books. I
mean there's one movie, right, there's no TV shows, there's
a holiday special account as legends. Now, yeah, what do
you guys think?

Speaker 2 (24:55):
Yeah, no, no, no, listening to your logic. I mean,
there there's this one major book series that I think
deserves the one seed.

Speaker 3 (25:04):
Spot, and that it would have been my one seed.

Speaker 2 (25:07):
Yeah, so oh right, so okay, put it too too,
let's do it.

Speaker 3 (25:11):
This is my pick.

Speaker 1 (25:13):
No, I'm next, huh, well, I guess on uh the
same realm of things we're talking about videing himself. I'm
gonna go with Shadows of the Empire. Then at the
time of sixty four game, yeah, where your dash run
Dar and you're essentially you're trying to find You're trying

(25:35):
to help Leah and Lucan them find Han Solo before
he makes it the job of the hut mhm. So
essentially you're your bounty hunter. You don't submission that, you
get to fly on haws. A lot of fun, a
lot of fun with that story there. I know, I
know it has some nostalgia points for people other than me,
but I remember when we did the draft, you guys

(25:56):
weren't too familiar with.

Speaker 2 (25:57):
It, but I've I've heard about it for more than
just you. It's it's broken through.

Speaker 3 (26:03):
It was on a console. Did it was on the
Tenno sixty four Yeah, yep, oh man, I had a sega.

Speaker 2 (26:08):
But it broke through the cultural ze zeke. People know
about it, people know what it is. I think that's
a solid four four or five in that Ballpark.

Speaker 3 (26:19):
Chris is like, now it has more nostalgia points for me.

Speaker 1 (26:20):
Man, No, I was thinking lower. I was thinking like
a six or seven.

Speaker 2 (26:23):
See, we're all downgrading our own stuffing out there.

Speaker 3 (26:28):
Let's uh, let's let's give it a seven. So it goes.
It's a game on game.

Speaker 1 (26:33):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (26:33):
Match now, we're being the real committee here just looking
at the matchups.

Speaker 3 (26:37):
What this is about Rady getting that ad revenue.

Speaker 1 (26:43):
And like there was like a I mean there was
like a comic tie in, like Prince Izor and Black Sun.

Speaker 2 (26:48):
Yes, and I remember this.

Speaker 3 (26:51):
Yeah, anyways, Joey just saw I'm clear in your bracket.
The Throng book is the new canon thron book, correct, yes, okay,
I would like to submit and Legends the original sequel trilogy,
The Air of the Empire. Uh do we yeah, the
whole I guess the book series. That's throw On trilogy. Yeah, yeah,
that's that. That's the one, right, I feel like it's

(27:12):
the one. Yeah, I feel like that. I mean, look,
this is this, this is like this is one of
Kuante's really hot takes. Like this is the hottest, hotest
take of it. I think it kind of like saved
Star Wars.

Speaker 2 (27:26):
I mean it created that.

Speaker 1 (27:27):
It was huge.

Speaker 3 (27:28):
Yeah, like I I don't know what Star Wars would
be without this trilogy book, these trilogies, Like I don't
know if the spanded universe would have been as expanded
as it became, because yeah, these like I'm still bummed
this isn't just the actual sequel trilogy. It's so good
and uh and and if you don't want to read it,
they're they're audiobooks and they are so well performed. H

(27:52):
I think the I think the guy's name is Mark Lawrence.
He does everyone's voice, including Lea's amazing. You will feel
like you're watching a movie.

Speaker 2 (28:00):
The conversations between Lancey Bak are just.

Speaker 3 (28:02):
Yes, yeah, you know, I'd listened to them recently when
I was back in the office back for the Pandemic,
and you just forget you're you feel like you're listening
to a movie. You're watching a show. It's great.

Speaker 1 (28:14):
Yeah, solid number one.

Speaker 3 (28:17):
That's gonna be. They're gonna have a good run.

Speaker 2 (28:20):
I think.

Speaker 1 (28:22):
Imagine you get that that up against like the last Jedi.

Speaker 3 (28:26):
Yeah, that's that's what we want.

Speaker 2 (28:30):
All right. Back to me, I'm I'm torn. I'm gonna
say one of my favorite book series, the Darth Baine Trilogy.

Speaker 3 (28:40):
Very nice. Okay, Yeah, that's that that that's that's high
for me. But like I'm trying to think, like I
don't know if it's if it's three high, So is
it like four or five?

Speaker 1 (28:49):
Ah? I think four, Let's go four.

Speaker 2 (28:50):
Yeah, four, Let's let's do a four there because.

Speaker 3 (28:53):
I got two more things and that made mean a
lot to It's one of those things too, because like
you know, we're we're we're a bunch of gamer nerds
and like book so like we might reference a game
that maybe no no one played, but it's like a
big deal to us.

Speaker 1 (29:05):
I am going to put up there the game Nights
of the Old Republic very nice.

Speaker 3 (29:11):
That is I feel like to be a three man.

Speaker 1 (29:15):
Yeah, Kotor, Yes, I like that. That one permeated. I
mean that was like originally a PC game, wasn't it.
They didn't have those on consoles, did it?

Speaker 3 (29:24):
No? I I played Nights the Republic on Xbox, the
original Xbox.

Speaker 1 (29:28):
Maybe I imagin didn't have it. I know you can
download it on an iPhone now and play on your iPhone. Yes,
I do own a full story game.

Speaker 3 (29:35):
Yeah, it's really really good.

Speaker 1 (29:37):
Yeah, Classic.

Speaker 3 (29:40):
Okay, I I I have, I have, since I have
two more picks I have, I'm not going to give
them both same time. But they both video games. I'm
shy to see where I want to put them at.
So uh, I can't keep talking aboutw much I want
to see call Guitar and not reference to the Jedi Academy games.
So uh, the Jedi Academy video games with Cayle Catarn.

Speaker 1 (29:58):
Yeah, Dark Forces, Outcast, Jedi Academy.

Speaker 3 (30:01):
There's a whole Definitely Jedi Academy because we could just
do the character of guitar.

Speaker 1 (30:10):
Cacatarn and Blind Raking. I want to put that higher.
But five half five.

Speaker 3 (30:15):
Gitar at five against trilogy.

Speaker 2 (30:22):
Well, and and here's where we're gonna have some some
crazy matchups coming in because I want to say the
original battle Front two.

Speaker 3 (30:31):
Oh man, that we're stuck at six. Yeah, oh front.

Speaker 1 (30:41):
You can ask a question, why is that legends.

Speaker 2 (30:44):
Because it have story to it.

Speaker 1 (30:48):
Clones, wasn't it?

Speaker 2 (30:49):
But it can they said everything everything that came before
this time that was not a feature film or a
TV show. Yeah, yeah, I mean, because you could say
this is almost the same thing about like Darth the
Plaguis book where that that was something that you probably
can't mess around with that story too much. That's probably

(31:09):
what happened.

Speaker 3 (31:10):
Yeah, here we go. I just I just googled it.
Battlefront two twenty seventeen is the first in a series
to accurately follow the canon of the films, while the
games developed by Pandemic Studios are relegated to Star Wars
Legends and noncanatical status. Okay, so it is legends.

Speaker 2 (31:23):
I'm sorry.

Speaker 3 (31:24):
And and this is crazy because it's gonna be the
eighth seed and it's like one of my favorite games
ever is Star Wars Republic Commando. Have you guys ever
played this?

Speaker 1 (31:33):
I haven't you lead.

Speaker 3 (31:35):
An elite Clone trooper team during the Clone Wars. You're
not Jedis is nothing. You're just leading Clone troopers in
the war. And it's like one of the best games.
It was. It was pretty revolutionary back and came out
because you had like squad controls and stuff. You can
control your troopers. Oh no, it's great. But yeah, that's crazy.
What an eight seed? I love it.

Speaker 1 (31:55):
That rounds out the bracket.

Speaker 3 (31:58):
Yeah, this is.

Speaker 2 (32:00):
Now that we've got it all built, we want to
run through and do a recap of everything. Sure, all right,
So the way I'm going top to bottom, on the
left side to the right side, putting everything.

Speaker 1 (32:14):
Together, we'll put this out there for everyone to see.

Speaker 3 (32:17):
Yep.

Speaker 2 (32:17):
So a one seed aired to the Empire against number
eight Clone commandos, and they will face the winner of
the three Seed Knights of the Old Republic or number
six Battlefront. And then on the other side of that region,
we'll have the fourth Unleashed going up against the seven

(32:39):
Seed Shadows of the Empire, and then they will face
the winner or the winner of that one will face
the winner of either the Darth Baane trilogy or Kyle
Kataran He's just character.

Speaker 1 (32:53):
So what do you think do you think Kyle katar
could take Darth Baine just straight on in a fight.

Speaker 3 (33:00):
It's the greatest Jedi. It's the greatest Jedi who never lived,
all right.

Speaker 2 (33:08):
And then in the prequel era, we will have Revenge
of the Sith going against it up against the eight
seed Attack of the Clones, and the winner of that
matchup is gonna go against either Obi Wan Kenobi or
Dark Disciple. Mmmmm, the Quinn the Quinlans.

Speaker 1 (33:26):
It's gonna hurt me even though they say his name once,
then I'll be on.

Speaker 2 (33:31):
Quinland Quinlan.

Speaker 3 (33:34):
I just just decide note about that. I just I
just love the fact that I'm sure someone was like, hey,
when you say the name Quinlan, you and you need
to say it like you've like you know this person,
you've because he's done all these things in the books
that even never did you know. So his character has
such rich history with Quinlan Voss, and he just had
to like Quinland right there, Like he invoked so much
history in the He was funny friend. Yeah, just just

(33:55):
real funny for me to think about.

Speaker 2 (33:57):
But it just fits so well. Even if you don't
know who Quillan vosses, you're just like, oh man, he's
just somebody.

Speaker 3 (34:02):
He knows that guy ob one knows him.

Speaker 2 (34:05):
Yeah, yeah, all right. And then we'll have the two
seed Siege of mandalor going against the first book in
the High Republic series, The Light of the Jedi.

Speaker 1 (34:17):
You could have gone Clone Wars versus High Republic books,
and you decided to be specific.

Speaker 2 (34:21):
I decided to be very very specific for each of those.

Speaker 1 (34:26):
Yes, we ranked them as such.

Speaker 2 (34:30):
And then we'll have a very boring story that has
nothing to do with real life about Trade Wars and
all of that, the Phantom Menace going against the new
canon throng books.

Speaker 1 (34:45):
I like the Phantom Menace.

Speaker 2 (34:46):
What are you making fun of it for? I'm not
making fun of it. I'm just I.

Speaker 3 (34:53):
Don't want to live in it anymore.

Speaker 2 (34:55):
What a opening crawl, just talking about the trade blockade?
Nothing but real.

Speaker 1 (35:03):
All right, let's jump to the other side.

Speaker 2 (35:05):
All right, So we'll have Empire Strikes Back going up
against the new Outlaws video game facing the winner of
either Rogue One or Jedi Survivor whole series, right, Survivor.

Speaker 1 (35:20):
Yeah, and follow follow Order and Survivor together.

Speaker 3 (35:22):
This is the whole story, and so good, Chris, I'm
nervous for Rogue one.

Speaker 2 (35:26):
Man a new hope that the two seed will be
going up against the seventh seed Star Wars Rebels. I
think Rebels really has a shot there. And then the
winner of that will be going up against either and
Or or Return of the Jet That is really a
toss up, that's it, and.

Speaker 1 (35:46):
Or Returned the Jedi Murderers Rote bracket.

Speaker 2 (35:48):
Right, the four or five seed could make it all
the way to the final four. I could see it.

Speaker 1 (35:53):
Yeah, has a strong possibility and.

Speaker 2 (35:56):
Then heading down to the sequels, Mandalorian going up against
Battlefront two. The eight seed is that regular Battlefront two.

Speaker 3 (36:05):
Regular Battlefront two, Yes, after they regulated all the loop
boxes out of it and made it fun.

Speaker 1 (36:13):
Like the story. Yeah, I guess, But we'll talk about
what we're ratiingum on in a minute.

Speaker 2 (36:19):
And then then they'll face the winner of the for
Awakens or the Last Jedi.

Speaker 1 (36:26):
The best Star Wars movie ever made, the.

Speaker 3 (36:27):
Best Star Wars movie ever made.

Speaker 2 (36:30):
And then rounding it out, we'll have the Ahsoka versus
the Rise of Skywalker going out up against the winner
of either Skeleton Crew or Book of Bob Effect.

Speaker 1 (36:41):
Yeah, we got the whole right side. It goes from
a bracket of very close calls to a bracket of
yeas seemingly uneven entries. But hey, anybody could win this.
Wait that find out if.

Speaker 3 (36:56):
That doesn't explain this entire experience with the sequel saga
very top.

Speaker 1 (37:01):
Heavy, and just to go in a little detail about
how this is going to work, we are all going
to individually rank all or score each of these thirty
two entries in four categories on a scale of one
to ten. And then when it's all combined, it'll give
each one a composite score, and that's how we'll decide

(37:22):
who wins a matchup. So the four categories that the
three of us will be radium on. So three of
us this is going to be a little subjective because it's,
you know, our show. We'll be rating them one on
these story or characters, so like the overall, like how
well the story was done, written, portrayed, how all the

(37:43):
characters are developed or pulled out or portrayed it in
that particular instance, specific to where it is. So example,
we may rate the character of we may rate a
new hope for characters different than like I don't know
the last jif we like Skywalker and one and not
the other, just giving a very personal example that I
might be thinking of myself. So Category one story characters,

(38:08):
story slash characters. Category two is nostalgia and our personal
feelings on it. So this gives us the opportunity to
rate the things that mean a lot to us on
that level. So this way we can be more objective
in the other categories. We reserve this one for how
we personally feel about it, what it means to us.

(38:28):
The third one will be rena I don't even know
if this is a word, but revisibility, revisitibility, So how
often we can either we either rewatch, replay, or reread
or revisit this instance in Star Wars, because I think
I can speak for all three of us when we
revisit all of these frequently. We live in this world.

(38:50):
We live in this world, So we're rating on a
scale how often we can revisit it. And then the
last category is world building, So how did this particular
piece impact the overall Star Wars galaxy world lore? It
wasn't a contribute.

Speaker 3 (39:09):
To this category alone? Is why they act like didn't
make it in a bracket, Isn't it?

Speaker 2 (39:13):
That category alone makes me feel that Air to the
Empire could go on a run.

Speaker 3 (39:17):
That's what I'm saying.

Speaker 1 (39:19):
Yeah, you know, Clone Wars for the introduction of Ahsoka
could have done some dirty work there.

Speaker 2 (39:25):
Yeah, that's very true. But the nostalgia's gonna win for me.
A nostalgia rewatchability, rewatchability, that's gonna just be.

Speaker 1 (39:33):
Yes, it is definitely very much more rewatchable than the
Clone Wars as a whole. Yeah, So those are what
what we'll all be individually rating on compiling the scores,
assigning a composite score, and then it'll be hey, Ahsoka
has a score of twenty five and Ras of Skywalker
had twenty four. So Ahsoka wins and moves on, and

(39:55):
then that score carries with them all the way to
the end for every matchup.

Speaker 3 (40:00):
Can we do this for everything from now on? This
is so much fun.

Speaker 1 (40:05):
It's gonna be a blast. So we will share this
bracket out and in between now in our next episode,
feel free to weigh in on social media how you feel,
who you think you should win, give us your hot takes,
your Cinderella stories, who you think is gonna go to
the end and we'll all find out together on our

(40:25):
next episode.

Speaker 2 (40:27):
Even fill out your own bracket and just and share
it with us.

Speaker 1 (40:31):
You can share, share it with your friends and bet on.

Speaker 3 (40:32):
It, Yes, gamble on us.

Speaker 1 (40:37):
The house takes a fag at that, you know, any
donation center if.

Speaker 3 (40:42):
We get a cut? Oh man, So I mean is it?
Is it? Is it time for Batstar Wars joke? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (40:48):
I'm ready to laugh.

Speaker 3 (40:50):
I hope this one does it, guys. Very simple, very quick,
very quaint. Two storm tubers walk into a bar. The
third one ducks.

Speaker 1 (41:02):
I was waiting for something like they missed it.

Speaker 3 (41:06):
Answered laugh track for some of these jokes.

Speaker 2 (41:08):
Now, Man, I thought you were going to keep going
and then I and then you stopped, and then I
had to go and listen to what you said again
in my head.

Speaker 3 (41:15):
The process it again that I got I made, I
made you laugh with how bad that joke was. Hey,
I'm living up to bat Star Wars jokes. Man, I
didn't say he's were good.

Speaker 1 (41:23):
I'm going to go back to our last Family Feud
episode where we were laughing the entire time and just
cut together a huge laugh track. Then we'll just put
that in for every best.

Speaker 3 (41:33):
Please have my please have me be my own laugh track.
Oh man, once again, great idea. Man, You you are,
you are the You're the man at making of Kidney's ideas.

Speaker 1 (41:48):
I can't say credit. This is Joey.

Speaker 2 (41:50):
I'm going to shout out another podcast, the I'm Fat Podcast,

enjoy some good food, drinking beer, hanging out. They do
something every year called March Fatness, and I live and

(42:12):
bunch of people over there. It's it's the funniest podcast
I've ever listened to. I just laughed the entire time,
and I stole the concept from them.

Speaker 3 (42:20):
Looking forward to putting scores in and seeing how this
works out.

Speaker 2 (42:22):
Man, Yeah, yeah, I just have to think about how
many more ways we can turn our podcast into just
just sports games.

Speaker 1 (42:32):
We're gonna We're gonna rate these and get back to
talk about the results and crown a champion. But until then,
May the Force be.
