Speaker 1 (00:00):
Ninety six point three. K Hey Country, AMBERBONDEI here with
Abe mac Abe. You have quite a big following here
in Alpaso. Thank you for being here with us today.
Speaker 2 (00:08):
Amber, Thank you for having me. It's surreal and we're
going to be at the old Paso Plaza Theater. It's happening.
Speaker 1 (00:14):
It's happening.
Speaker 2 (00:14):
You know what.
Speaker 1 (00:14):
I was just that I performed for a dance for
kids sake, for big brothers, big sisters.
Speaker 2 (00:18):
So you're gonna have.
Speaker 1 (00:18):
A waving your audience because they're just there for you.
I was there with a whole bunch of other people,
but I'm so excited for you.
Speaker 2 (00:24):
Thank you.
Speaker 1 (00:24):
We were talking a little bit about how this performance,
which is happening this Saturday at the Plaza Theater is
connected to something that you've been doing with the schools
which I didn't know about. I love it. Can you
tell the audience a little bit more about that?
Speaker 2 (00:37):
Well, first and foremost, I want to thank Speaking Rock
Entertainment because there are backbone and this whole focus of
bringing holiday music and spreading the holiday cheer, which is
what you're talking about. We have a thirty minute children's
program for elementary schools in Opaso. So every year, two
weeks prior to their Christmas break, we pick about ten
twelve schools that need the Holiday Cheer, whether the grades
(00:59):
are a little bit lower or you know, it's more
of a low income situation. And we try to bring
inspiration to these kids through music, let them know that
they can sing country music and be songwriters just like
I am, and let them know that they can write
their own books. So I have a children's book titled
Christmas Snow and that inspired me to follow through with,
you know, taking this program to elementary schools and reaching
(01:20):
out and we're in our third annual Spread the Holiday
Cheer and it's phenomenal. We have such a wonderful time
with the kids. And we thought, well, every time that
we put on a Christmas show, no past so because
it's my hometown, it's always for adults. And every time
that we do the Spread the Holiday Cheer, folks ask
us or the teachers ask us. You know, the kids
are on break, we don't have babysitters. Is there a
show that you're going to have for the families? So
(01:42):
that inspired to say, let's go to the plaza. Let's
take this to the plaza. Let's make it affordable for everybody.
Ten dollars tickets, Amber ten dollar tickets. You can take
the whole family for under sixty. It's better if they
go to the box office so they avoid the ticket
master fee. But that's what inspired this whole Christmas concert
at the Plaza was spread the holiday year. It's an
amazing experience. And again speaking, Rock has just been amazing
(02:05):
with me and helping me put this production together because
it's so expensive and being an independent country artist, it's
you know, you need all the help and support, just
like you're giving me this radio tempt So I really
appreciate you guys so much.
Speaker 1 (02:17):
When you're doing the performance, first we're going to talk
about with the kids. Do you perform the music to
the book that you wrote? Is that how it works?
Speaker 2 (02:24):
So we have a song titled Christmas Note, which is
the title of the book. In regards to the show.
For the kids, it's a synergy skit. So we start
off with them giving them cadences so they can clap
with us and connect with us. When I say Mary,
you say Christmas Mary, and then oh my god, it's
amazing exactly exactly, and so once we have them connected
and I have their attention. We read the book. I
(02:46):
show them how to close their eyes and imagine simplicity
of imagination and putting it on a piece of paper.
And I tasked them let them know if there's a
pizza party, if they can do it, I'll take a
pizza party after January or Fifbruary when I'll drive through Opasso.
And we did that last year or Jane Hambric Elementary
and Middle School. It was phenomenally great. It was awesome.
It's your jerker. It really is because some of these kids,
like they come up to you and they you know,
(03:09):
this is amazing.
Speaker 1 (03:10):
Some of the stories, I'm sure beautiful.
Speaker 2 (03:11):
Beautiful thing. And so to have that and have the
closure at the plaza at San Jacinto Plaza next door,
it's make it a family outing. It's perfect. It's a
ninety minute show eight pm to nine thirty. The song
does go along to the book. It's beautiful. You can
look it up on YouTube, you can look it up
on Spotify, iTunes, wherever. The lyrics are what you read
on the book. It's it's an amazing thing. So thank
(03:32):
you for having me again.
Speaker 1 (03:33):
No, definitely, and one last question. Special guests at the
Plaza Theater. Are you allowed to say? I do that.
Speaker 2 (03:39):
I want to keep it a surprise. But it's culturally
a Passo Christmas. So if you think of type of
music that happens in ol Passo, yeah, it starts with
an M and it's usually like I guess ten or
fifteen and they sing these songs and make you very happy.
So we have some special guests and it's it's part
of my roots growing up in Succoran and Old pass
(04:01):
On and it's just part of me. I played football youtip,
I don't know if you know that for coaching Bryce.
That's how I got a mac. Yeah, and I used
to sing mariachi for the Socora High School Bulldog Mariachi
when I was a freshman. Oh cool, So I have
some I kind of gave a little Christmas cookie right,
a little tip there. But we have some really special
guests going to make the evening very opass, the very
(04:22):
southwest border West Texas country well be awesome.
Speaker 1 (04:25):
I'm so excited for this. I've learned so much about
you in the short amount of time that I've met you,
and I'm so pleased with what you've been doing in
the schools and I'm looking forward to the show on Saturday. Hey,
thank you so much for being here with us.
Speaker 2 (04:34):
Today and Ri I appreciate it. We hope you can
have you at the show on Saturdays. You can see
the spectacle. Thank you, thank you,
