Speaker 1 (00:00):
You were going to be here at El Paso, Texas
at the Elmont Social August thirty first. It's the Sunday
before Labor Day. And you know, I've heard your music.
I'm already loving the new album American Pom, and it's
the perfect venue and you're the perfect artist for the
Sunday before Labor Day. We're excited to have you here.
Have you ever been to All Passo?

Speaker 2 (00:19):
This is going to be my first time ever performing
an LP. Well, I'm so excited.

Speaker 1 (00:24):
Welcome have you? And I mean, after hearing your music,
I would be surprised if the answer is no. But
have you ever performed at a venue like this like
the Elmont Swim Club?

Speaker 2 (00:33):
No, No, this is good. It's just going to be
a whole bunch of first for me on this show.
So I'm so excited and I've heard so many wonderful things.
You know, I'm personally I'm a I'm a really big
fan of lou Casey, so I got a bunch of
a bunch of their boots. So I'm oh, I'm going
to try to finagle my way into going by and

(00:54):
checking out the shot while I'm there. But I'm so
excited to come there, and I've heard so many great
things that he'll pass. I'm excited.

Speaker 1 (01:01):
Oh do I may be able to help you with that,
and yes, I'll passo. Texas is now the official boot
capital of Texas, and I know you grew up in Texas.
You love your boots, so you're coming to the right place.
Hopefully you have some extra time to do that, and
you might want to brush up on your due lingo.
Do you know any Spanish at all?

Speaker 2 (01:18):
I wish I did. I wish I did, but I'm
going to be probably full time English and in it.
How you gotta do?

Speaker 1 (01:27):
There you go, you have all done? Or no comprendo?
Then you're good.

Speaker 2 (01:31):
Oh yeah, yeah, I got that, I got I got
the I got maybe five or ten in the pocket.

Speaker 1 (01:36):
Oh perfect, that's another one or here and I'll pass away, say.

Speaker 2 (01:39):
Chevin, Oh that's cool.

Speaker 1 (01:42):
So when you come here, I think you're gonna love it,
because of course your music is very beachy. You've described
it as putting you on a vacation when you're performing.
So with that being said, what is your favorite part
of performing and are there any songs in particular you
love to perform or that are fan favorite.

Speaker 2 (01:58):
You know, for me, it's all about the human connection,
and I think music is how I best connect with
other people. And it's just so much fun to get together,
sing songs together, celebrate life. You know, life is short,
and I'm a big believer. We got to make a
sweet So I'm really focused on making positive music. I'm
really inspired by artists I Bob Marley and Jimmy Buffett
and people like that, you know, so really want to

(02:18):
just take people on a little mini vacation. You know,
we ain't got to go to Kenkun to go on vaca.
We can get running now, passo there you go and
have ourselves a really great time. And uh yeah, that's
what I'm looking forward to doing with you. Gas.

Speaker 1 (02:30):
I love that you said that, because I'm gonna have
the courage to ask you, will you sing a little
bit of good time with me? So just the we're
just trying to catch a good time up until apple
Pine moonshine? Will you sing that with it? I'm a
horrible singer, but I just want I just like have
a random thought to sing it together. Would that be okay?

Speaker 2 (02:47):
Are you ready?

Speaker 1 (02:47):
All right?

Speaker 2 (02:48):
You're ready?

Speaker 1 (02:49):
Two? One?

Speaker 2 (02:51):
We just get even if we need to take a nice.

Speaker 1 (02:59):
Bottle on the camp sipping up.

Speaker 2 (03:04):
Shine Away.

Speaker 1 (03:07):
I'm a biker and I know a biker MC out
here that makes the best homemade moonshine all flavors, so
I can hook you up with that.

Speaker 2 (03:13):
Oh that's awesome. I love it. I love it.

Speaker 1 (03:15):
You like tequila?

Speaker 2 (03:16):
Yes, okay, pur absolutely.

Speaker 1 (03:18):
Again, you're in the right place for a good guila. Now,
I have a couple more questions for you, Nico. I
know you're busy. I'm covered in tattoos. I know you're
covered in tattoos. Can you tell me a story about
one of the tattoos that you have that means the
most to you?

Speaker 2 (03:30):
Yeah, I think let's see. I'll go with this one.
Right here, I'm looking at my wrists and I got
a tattoo of my dad's signature on my wrist. I
had him signed my wrist, and then I got to
set it. And then right next to a signature, I
got something that my dad's told me my whole life,
which is this too shall pass. And it's just been
something that's always rained true in every moment in my life.

(03:51):
When I've looked at it, you know, whether I'm going
through something tougher or I'm in a really beautiful moment,
you know, to hold on to those moments, you know.
So yeah, when I look at that of my dad
and my dad who taught me how to play music
and how to write songs and everything. So I got
a real good relationship with my dad, and that's one
that's close to me.

Speaker 1 (04:08):
Well, and you have a duet with him on your
new album, King of the Island. It's one of my favorites. Actually,
I'm not just pulling your leg there.

Speaker 2 (04:14):
Yeah, really, yes, So my dad's a songwriter as well.

Speaker 1 (04:16):
Well, that's awesome. There you go. It's genetic.

Speaker 2 (04:19):
Yeah. Yeah, So we recorded a song that he wrote
called King of the Island. Was awesome vacation song.

Speaker 1 (04:24):
Oh I love it. Okay, I have one more question
for you, and this is probably the most important one
because I asked my ten year old is there anything
you want to ask Nico Moon? So here's her question
to you. Are you more into old country or new country?

Speaker 2 (04:37):
Mmm? You know, I think a lot of people might
think that I'm really into new country, but I actually
listen to a lot of old country, and I think
because I kind of make more newer country more progressive
country that I like to not be too influenced by
what's out right now and what other people are doing. Yeah,
So for my own enjoyment, I usually listen to music

(04:57):
from like maybe back in the day, and then for that, like,
whatever I'm making, is it being like influenced by somebody
else doing their thing right now? And I accidentally get
influenced by that, right.

Speaker 1 (05:08):
So if it sounds like someone else, that's just a coincidence.
You just write good music, good feel good music. N
Is there anything else that you would like to tell
the Sun City, which is Alpasso's nickname. Is there anything
else you'd like to tell the listening audience?

Speaker 2 (05:20):
Yeah, just get ready to put on your your favorite
Hawaiian shirt, everybody. I love to wear my Hawaiian and
be barefoot at my shows because it's just another way
I can get into that vacation mindset. So come ready,
Come ready to go on VACA and I can't wait
to celebrate.

Speaker 1 (05:35):
We all perfect walking with your chank class and take
them off and you get there. That's flip flopper.

Speaker 2 (05:39):
Yes, that's right.

Speaker 1 (05:40):
All right, Nika, thank you so much for talking with
me today.

Speaker 2 (05:43):
Yes, thank you
