Speaker 1 (00:00):
Dustin Lynch. I'm gonna start with your accolades. I can't
imagine that you get tired of people, you know, shouting
your praise. But again, just to name a few, you
have ten number ones, your most recent one, correct me
if I'm wrong, being the song Chevrolet with Jelly Roll.
And then you have four top five albums, your multi
platinum status, billions of global streams. I mean, you're not

(00:21):
really that busy.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
Right, Oh, I'm I don't know. I'm having fun. I
know that, right, I'm probably busy, but I'm loving it.
You know, I'm bring it all and bring it all along.

Speaker 1 (00:33):
If it's if it's if you love what you do,
it's not work right, and you're going to be coming
here to Ill pass So September twenty seventh, in just
a few short weeks for the Way Out West Fest, one,
the biggest I believe country music event here in I'll
pass So. And have you ever been here to all Passo?

Speaker 2 (00:50):
Absolutely? And it's been a long time. I'm so excited
to get back down. We always had an amazing fan
base there and my bandon I always have so much
fun playing, you know, down in El Paso, and I
love the shopping down there too, some boots, let me guess, Yeah,
I'm gonna get I'm gonna get me some boots.

Speaker 3 (01:09):
Obviously, we're going out to eat as much as we
can Mexican the steps to back it up exactly.

Speaker 1 (01:16):
So, when was the last time you were here?

Speaker 2 (01:18):
Gosh, I bet it's been I don't know. I haven't looked,
but I bet it's been six seven years.

Speaker 1 (01:22):
Oh okay, okay, yeah. So recently al Paso was named
the Texas boot Capital. Al Paso was named the Texas
boot Capital. So we have Luke Casey, we have Rocketbusters,
we have Tony Lama, we have Alex Boots. So you know,
I just recently learned that Rocketbuster they actually made some
boots for Riba Shaboozi. I just talked to Jess Carson

(01:44):
from Midland. He has some of those. So you'll you'll
definitely get in some shopping here. But you got to
come at least a couple of days to give your
soft time to shop and feast on all our Mexican food.

Speaker 3 (01:53):
Yes, done.

Speaker 2 (01:54):
I might be a little a little sluggist on stage,
I'm definitely gonna indulge on more more food than I
easily do before the set, but not to be part.

Speaker 3 (02:03):
Of it, very part of it.

Speaker 1 (02:04):
Get some what we call it pand have you heard
of that? So pan dulse is our version of sweetbread.
And there's a ton of panadias or bakeries around all passo.
I mean, people will tell you their favorites. There's you know,
Valentine my favorites on Lomland and I'll send you some
suggestions if you want. But I think that panadia in
the morning after your show will definitely help you feel rejuvenated.

(02:28):
If you like sweets, if you like sweetbread.

Speaker 2 (02:30):
All right, I do absolutely, I love I love my
coffee a little sweet bread.

Speaker 1 (02:34):
Oh there you go, oh man perfect. So you have
a Vegas residency right now? Correct? At the win?

Speaker 3 (02:39):
I do? I do?

Speaker 1 (02:40):
You're the first country artists to have a Vegas residency.
I mean, I'll pass wins. We're pretty close, so we
like to visit Vegas. So you're taking a little break
from that. Are you bringing any of that ed.

Speaker 3 (02:50):
M to the show?

Speaker 2 (02:52):
So we'll be bringing the country show down there. It'll
be top to bottom country.

Speaker 3 (02:57):
Yeah. That the DJ set out there has and it's
so fun.

Speaker 2 (03:00):
We're playing at Excess and Akcore Beach Club at the
wind Yes, two of my favorite clubs I've been going
to for over a decade there.

Speaker 3 (03:07):
So to get asked to be.

Speaker 2 (03:09):
A resident this year was just unbelievable and something that
just organically happened.

Speaker 3 (03:14):
It was like the universe going here. You got to
run with it. So I am.

Speaker 2 (03:17):
I wasn't trying to do this or anything. I got
asked to play an after party for the PBR World
Finals there. Oh wow, And I just was like, they
were like, do whatever you want, So I said okay,
and I just put together a thirty minute DJ set
and it popped off and the phone started ringing.

Speaker 3 (03:32):
The next day, We've been getting booked all over North America.
It's been fun.

Speaker 1 (03:35):
It's it is going off. I just recently went to
a EDM set in person, and I mean, like I said,
I used to be a go go dancer. I'm now
in country music. So to combine the two, I'm just
waiting for them to bring the moshpits to country music
and then I'm set.

Speaker 2 (03:49):
All right, I'll put that on your list.

Speaker 1 (03:53):
And exactly a little fun fact I learned about something
we have in common is that you have a degree
in biology.

Speaker 3 (03:59):
I do. Yeah, in chemistry. I was.

Speaker 2 (04:01):
I was a premad major and actually got into med school,
did all the testing and everything, and parents like, I've
got I can't.

Speaker 3 (04:08):
I have to try this, what if? You know?

Speaker 2 (04:10):
And I had to try music, just solely music for
and focus on that for a year or two before
I just go down this medical road. And they are pissed.

Speaker 1 (04:19):
I can't imagine.

Speaker 3 (04:20):
That's not cheap. Didn't like.

Speaker 2 (04:23):
It, didn't like me throwing away all the college stuff.
But oh my gosh, it worked out for me. I
was already playing music. Yeah, I was already making great Janie,
playing music all over the Southeast at clubs and frat
parties and honky toss and stuff. And so I was
able to you know, I was able to make rent
and do all that stuff and doors.

Speaker 3 (04:39):
Yeah, the right door started opening for me. And here
we are twenty years later.

Speaker 1 (04:43):
That's awesome.

Speaker 3 (04:43):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (04:44):
I have a degree in biology, and most of my
co workers, you know, they have a degree in communication
or whatever. I'm like, I don't know it, just you know,
life happened, and that same I was on the pre
med track. But I really love what I'm doing now,
and I wanted to tell you that. When I first
started the first song I dedicated it was too my
old The place I worked before here was a child
crisis center. It was like an emergency shelter for kids

(05:05):
and stars like Confetti was actually the song that I
had my first dedication song.

Speaker 3 (05:10):
Oh that's awesome, thank you.

Speaker 1 (05:12):
Yeah, that's really cool. So I want to have some
fun questions with you. I got about ten more minutes
with you. Will that work for you? I know you're
busy for me?

Speaker 3 (05:21):
Absolutely? All right? All right?

Speaker 1 (05:22):
Right, so now I have a would you rather? So
I have five questions here and you're just gonna answer
would you rather do this or that? LISTO? Ready?

Speaker 3 (05:30):
Ready?

Speaker 1 (05:30):
All right? Would you rather be on Dancing with the
Stars or mass singer?

Speaker 3 (05:34):
Mass singer? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (05:36):
Oh yeah yeah. I've actually surprised my niece at.

Speaker 3 (05:40):
Church camp earlier this summer.

Speaker 2 (05:42):
They did a mass singer event and she had no
clue I was going to show up, and I showed
up as a mass singer.

Speaker 3 (05:48):
Surprisers. Great that is.

Speaker 1 (05:49):
So you don't have video of that, do you?

Speaker 2 (05:51):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (05:51):
Yeah, we posted it. Oh yeah, I'm.

Speaker 1 (05:55):
Gonna have to go look for that. How cool? Would
you rather be a judge on America? An idol or
a coach on the Voice.

Speaker 2 (06:02):
I would rather be a coach on the Voice, just
because a little bit more involved. Yea, yeah, I think
I love I love, I love giving back, and I
wish I had a little bit more of a big
brother coming up through the ranks of Nashville early on.

Speaker 3 (06:14):
So I'd love to be a part of the Voice someday.

Speaker 1 (06:16):
Oh I love that. Okay, superpower. Would you rather have
the power of invisibility or super strength?

Speaker 3 (06:23):
That's really good. I think probably super strength super strengths.

Speaker 2 (06:29):
You're being invisible scares me a little bit, you know, right,
and I'm not creep around on the Yeah, it would help.
I guess it would help. It would help hunting though.
Maybe I'd be a better door hunter if I could
be invisible.

Speaker 1 (06:40):
Yeah, I mean you still have to be quiet, but yeah,
you'd be invisible. Never thought of it that way, but
that's true. And you know, if you have to get
in and out of places without you know, wanting to
be seen for some privacy, that might work to your
advantage too.

Speaker 3 (06:53):
Yeah. True.

Speaker 1 (06:54):
Then again, with super strengths, you just you know, move
the wall or something. So okay, number four would you
and I'm sorry if this has ever happened, you fall
on stage or forget the lyrics.

Speaker 2 (07:04):
I would rather fall really yeah, oh yeah clause and
well as long as it didn't you know, didn't hurt
get hurt too bad.

Speaker 3 (07:11):
Yeah, Forgetting the lyrics is something.

Speaker 2 (07:13):
Forgetting the lyrics is something I have bad dreams about
all the time, and it happens. But most of the
time the front, the first couple of rows have my back.

Speaker 3 (07:20):
Yeah, you just point the microsoft.

Speaker 2 (07:23):
Yeah, and I can like read loves pretty good, so
they get me back on track.

Speaker 1 (07:26):
Like what am I singing? And then the last one
and I kind of have a feeling just by our
short talk here what it might be. But build a
classic muscle car or buy a brand new one classic
muscle That's what I figured. What would you build?

Speaker 2 (07:41):
Well, you know, I've been looking. I'm just I can't
convince myself. I'm really practical, practical guy. You know, I'm
not like a stuffed person, more of experienced guy. And
I've been looking. There's a there's a kind of a
retro car yard down the street from my place in Nashville,
and I pass it every day i'm driving to town.
I'm like one of these days and then I look
up and I go, you've been saying that for ten years.

(08:03):
Just go get one. I just you know, I'm not
home enough to like really enjoy it up and we
drive the things three times. But that's all you need
to drive it, you know.

Speaker 1 (08:12):
But it's not a day.

Speaker 3 (08:13):
I would probably go exactly. I would probably go with
like a Chevelle, like a sixty nine.

Speaker 1 (08:18):
Or dude, dude, that is my car, sixty nine seventy
Chevelle murdered out.

Speaker 3 (08:24):
That's it. Oh, that's it.

Speaker 2 (08:26):
I would probably go with it. Yeah, I would probably
do a stripe down the center. But that's that's what
I'm really looking at, and I've missed a couple of
good opportunities I should have jumped on.

Speaker 1 (08:35):
But man, I'm down with the stripe. But it would
be black on black. It would be like a matt
and a gloss Like I'm I'm my favorite color is
black until they make something darker.

Speaker 3 (08:43):
So I love it.

Speaker 1 (08:45):
Since you are coming to a Passo, I'm going to
give you a little Spanish test. Won't be too hard.
I'll give you the word in Spanish, and then I've
bet if you can give me the English word.

Speaker 3 (08:54):
Ready, Oh, my gosh.

Speaker 1 (08:55):
Okay, I'll start easy, okay, Musika music perfect, keep that.

Speaker 3 (08:59):
Up, say it again, guitara, guitar perfect.

Speaker 1 (09:02):
Everyone knows this one beer, the important one, boots, boots.
I got two more for you. Now. This one doesn't
sound like the word, but you have a lot of
these spells. C A N C I O N I

(09:25):
think I don't know song song song and last one gero.
I'll give you a hints.

Speaker 3 (09:35):
And angels cowboys. So what is so? What is caballeros?

Speaker 1 (09:43):
I think it's like a man. Okay, yeah, they're they're
very similar. But I'll look up that for you. That's
a good that's a good question right here, and i'll pass.
We have our own spanglish, like if you ever hear
someone else pass say I like, that's a I thought
that everyone knew what that was. But that's kind of like,
oh wow, like whatever, it's kind of that. And I

(10:06):
thought that everyone knew it that was. And they're like,
you're from all passoha was somewhere else. I'm like, yeah,
why are there? As you said AI, so you can
start using that. So okay, great, I have a couple
more for you, A couple more fun questions and then,
like I said, I know you're busy. So since it
is going to be Halloween, are you a big fan
of scary movies?

Speaker 2 (10:24):
I am?

Speaker 3 (10:25):
Yeah, I love you know. I started throwing last year.

Speaker 2 (10:29):
We threw a big Halloween party at the at the
Lake House and it went off, so I think we're
going to run it back. So I think I'm getting
more and more into Halloween as the years ago.

Speaker 1 (10:37):
I am obsessed with Halloween. It is my holidays. So
then so then this is okay, I love this for you.
I'm going to give you the name of the scary
movie and you're gonna tell me the main character from it. So,
for example, hell Raiser would be Pinhead.

Speaker 3 (10:52):
Oh god, I'm not going to do well with this
at all.

Speaker 1 (10:54):
Why you will?

Speaker 2 (10:55):
You?

Speaker 1 (10:55):
Will you? If you like scar movie, I'll help you out.

Speaker 3 (10:58):
I'm just I'm the worst.

Speaker 2 (10:59):
I'm the worst, like pop culture trivia, the absolute worst.

Speaker 1 (11:03):
I'll only give you a crush it some other what
that's about.

Speaker 3 (11:06):
Bad guys crush this type of stuff. But I just don't.

Speaker 1 (11:10):
Oh man, well, then play this, play this back for
them and they'll give you some flak for it. All right,
I'll give you I'll just give you three easy ones.
A Nightmare on Elm Street.

Speaker 3 (11:21):
Oh my gosh, I know the movie. How about that?
I have no clue. I'm not going to.

Speaker 1 (11:24):
Evere the movie. I'll give you he has the claws
for hands, and I'm not going to get ready.

Speaker 3 (11:30):
Krueger, Friday, Krueger, all right.

Speaker 1 (11:33):
All right, Friday the thirteenth? Oh, think of the is
the hockey mask?

Speaker 3 (11:39):
Yeah, yeah, he's Jason, right, yes.

Speaker 1 (11:41):
Jason Voorhees. And last one Halloween, that's the song I
sing every time my daughter wakes up in a bad mood.

Speaker 3 (11:50):
Is that the scream guy?

Speaker 1 (11:52):
No scream is ghost Face Halloween? Is he has that
white mask with the blue jumpsuit. That's Mike.

Speaker 3 (12:01):
Oh oh, Mike Myers.

Speaker 1 (12:03):
Fires. All right, now we're at the tail end. I'm
going to ask you some rapid fire questions. You're ready,
you're still getting your steps in.

Speaker 3 (12:12):
I'm ready, I'm walking.

Speaker 1 (12:13):
All right. Your favorite sports team.

Speaker 3 (12:15):
Oh, Man, hollis your pro?

Speaker 1 (12:18):
Oh? Pro? Because I know more pro?

Speaker 3 (12:21):
Okay pro?

Speaker 1 (12:22):
The Titans, the Titans. Okay. Favorite type of food.

Speaker 2 (12:26):
Well, I don't I don't let myself eat a lot
of it, but I freaking love ice cream.

Speaker 1 (12:30):
Oh, I love what's your favorite what's your go to flavor?

Speaker 3 (12:32):
Anything with Reese's peanut butter cuffs and oh.

Speaker 1 (12:35):
Man, that's delicious. Okay, favorite adult beverage.

Speaker 3 (12:39):
You know what it's it's turning a little bit cooler.

Speaker 2 (12:41):
And most of the country, I know El Paso doesn't
feel it like we feel it.

Speaker 3 (12:47):
When football starts. I like a good Jack and Coke.

Speaker 1 (12:50):
Oh that's good. That's good. Oh, by the way, Reese's
and Oreos combined and they have a Reese's uh oreo.
Just you know, to add more temptation on your place.
Favorite perfect movie or it could be one of your
top three.

Speaker 3 (13:03):
A top three movies at least there Forrest Gump.

Speaker 1 (13:07):
That's a good one, all right, favorite non country artist
or band.

Speaker 3 (13:14):
Let me think on my recap here Drake.

Speaker 2 (13:18):
Drake has probably been at the top most most of
the past decade.

Speaker 1 (13:22):
Okay, Drake. And last question or last of the rapid fire.
If you could bring back a country artist from the
dead for one gig, who would it be? And if
you want me to listen, I can, but I know
you probably have some many for one show for one show.

Speaker 2 (13:39):
You know what, I'm listened dearly He's a good buddy
of mine and good hunting Muddy Troy Gentry, and I
would want to throw down with the Montgomery Gentry again.

Speaker 1 (13:46):
Oh that would be awesome. I'm going to add him
to the list now. I have a ten year old
daughter nineteen to ten, and my ten year old I
always let her ask one question, So this is the
last question I end on this. She wanted to know,
how do you feel about being the Way Out West
Fest headliner?

Speaker 2 (14:04):
Oh, that's a great question. I'm honored to hear a
headliner is always fun and awesome. But you know, like
I said at the start of this, sang El Passa
has just always been so kind to us, and I
just love the culture down there and we're that's that's
like the most fun thing for me about touring is
getting to experience so many different subcultures of the United

(14:26):
States and everywhere we go and just embracing it, getting
out on the town, seeing what makes each town click
and move and yeah, well, you know, experiencing the food,
experiencing all that. So yeah, I'm I'm honored to be there.
I'm counting down it's going to be a bit of
a vacation for me. And the boys from you know,
the normal of just Midwest touring. You know, we're ready

(14:49):
to get down there and spice it up.

Speaker 1 (14:51):
Oh yes, the weather won't be too hot. It'll still
be a little hot, so make sure you bring your
water and h the way out West says it's going
to have a margarita contest. I'm going to be emceeing that.
I want a chili contest, Cornhold Championship proceeds are going
to the cow Girl Up Fund, and then of course
before you just Jane is going on, Don Luis, Travis Denning,
and then of course headliner Dustin Lynch. Dustin, is there

(15:14):
anything else that you would like to tell the listening audience?
You know about anything?

Speaker 2 (15:19):
Oh my gosh, no, I think we've covered it all.
And who's I do have a question. Who's getting to
judge the margarita contest? That sounds fun to do.

Speaker 1 (15:28):
If you want to judge, you're welcome to Last year,
Cassie Ashton actually showed up and I claimed her my
bestie because we both write Harley's And she said, in
as a judge, if you want me to, you know,
leave you some samples by all means, but you are
welcome to some I don't think anyone is going to
give you any I don't think anyone is going to
give you any pushback you wanted to come to.

Speaker 2 (15:52):
Yeah, the show might be a little bit looser if
I'm Jesse and Margarita contest before, but definitely sounds like
a fun day to me.

Speaker 1 (15:59):
I'll be MCing it. I can't judge it because then
I was like, this is a good you know lot.
But Dustin Lynch, thank you so much for talking with
us today. I can't wait to see you September twenty
seven at the Way Out Westfest.

Speaker 3 (16:12):
Thank you, Amber, great hanging. Bye bye bye
