“People! This is a call to action! Is anyone listening? I have 1,200 followers, is anyone listening? This is not a drill!” A masked underground podcaster infiltrates the media feeding-frenzy that surrounds the momentous revolution at George Orwell’s Animal Farm. Influencers, pundits and self-proclaimed media giants compete for air time as beloved characters Boxer the workhorse, Old Major and Snowball overthrow the tyrant Farmer Jones and the prize boar Napoleon, transforms into a vicious dictator. Every element and distinct character in Orwell’s groundbreaking Animal Farm are brought to life in this timely adaptation that asks can the revolution be televised and at what cost? Adapted and directed by Patricia Miller for City College, San Francisco Theatre Arts including script contributions from student theatre makers during lock down. Originally performed at the historic War Memorial theatre in San Francisco, host to the drafting of the United Nations Charter. This production is dedicated to the wit and creativity of our colleague Mauricio Guerra, RIP.
