Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hello, and welcome to a special taster of our new
premium only story. We hope you like it. Hell yo, Hello,
(00:23):
I'm Josephine and this is the Animal Tales podcast, home
to over four hundred stories written just for you. Our
Friday story is especially for our Premium subscribers only. Riley
is a Premium member from Stanford in the USA, and
she would like a story with a golden doodle, a unicorn,
(00:44):
and a dragon. Don't forget to listen to the animal
facts after the story to learn more about these creatures.
For now, it's time to sit back and get comfy,
because it's time to begin The Missing Creature of Silverwood.
The first Silverwood creature to go missing was a hedgehog.
(01:08):
Then it was a toad. By the time a fairy disappeared,
the other inhabitants were starting to take notice. Then bigger
creatures vanished. A griffin, an elk, a phoenix, taken from
their homes, their trees, and their families without warning and
(01:29):
without a trace. And now it would be Riley's job
to get them back. Riley was a solver of mysteries
in the land of Silverwood, along with her trusted Golden Doodle, Sophie.
The pair would locate stolen items, find cures for strange ailments,
(01:49):
and protect rare plants and animals from danger. But this
would be their most difficult challenge so far. They began
with the most disappearance, a jackalope. The alarm had been
raised that this horned jack rabbit had gone missing that
very morning. Sophie, using her powerful golden doodle nose, had
(02:13):
got straight on the trail leading Riley through Silverwood's Great Forest.
It had all been going well until the storm struck.
It's no use, Riley said to her dog. We've got
to find shelter for the night before we get blown away.
There are lights up ahead, said the Golden Doodle, squinting
(02:36):
against the heavy rain. Maybe it's somewhere we can stay
the night. Pushing on through the downpour, they arrived at
the gates of a tall, dark tower, a silhouette against
the stormy sky. Riley felt a shiver go up her
spine as she pushed the gate open, allowing them both
(02:58):
to slip through. But they'd only taken a few steps
when Sophie stopped growling at something in the shadows. Lightning
flashed overhead, revealing a large red dragon curled up near
the wall. There was just enough light for them both
to see a heavy looking iron collar around the dragon's neck,
(03:21):
with a purple gem glinting at its center. Now Riley
knew what she was looking for. She could still make
out the dragon's shape. As the gloom returned. The dragon
lifted its head looking at them, and Riley was ready
to grab Sophie and run, but the purple gem glowed
(03:43):
softly for a second before the beast curled back up
and ignored them. Riley turned back to the tower's doors
to see they were opening. Come on, Sophie, let's get
out of this dreadful weather. Shaking the water from her clothes,
Riley looked round the tower's reception hall. The only light
(04:08):
came from candles, but it was enough to see the
spiral staircase in the center of the room. It led
both up into the tower and down into unknown depths. Welcome,
said a man descending the stairs from above. He was
dressed in black robes with an amulet hanging around his neck.
(04:32):
A sorcerer, thought, Riley, please come in and take shelter
from the rain. Sophie growled, her hackles rising, sh Sophie
Riley hissed, we're guests here. The sorcerer beckoned for them
to follow him up. I am Savior, the sorcerer said,
(04:57):
