Speaker 1 (00:00):
Creativity is an addiction, unplugged because we will always say
yes to creativity, totally uncut because we all make mistakes.
So let's turn it into a tool. This is Arrow
unplugged when it's extremely difficult to make up our mind.
You know, having the power of choice can actually weaken
a person. On this episode, we're going to explore why
federal workers are making the choice to not pack their

(00:22):
bags and get out of Dodge or should I say
out of Doge? Plus what needs to be done to
officially make the choice to get off the grid? My
name is Arrow. Life is a series of choices. Who
decides when you're not making the right choice? Is it
a fear of going wrong? The greatest lessons in life
are often lost inside hidden away attempts and concepts. Well,

(00:45):
it's time to reopen your heart. Having a choice is
a beautiful daily gift. On this highway, we're learning to
trust mirages. What is the choice? Why would anyone want
to work for the US government right now? The choice
to remain is costing people their personal beliefs and ambitions
to feel secure in a nation struggling with unheard of change.

(01:07):
Can we call the present moments the Great American Purge.
Federal workers are experiencing large amounts of uncertainty, yet they
won't pack their bags and walk away wishful thinkings such as, Oh,
it's not going to happen to me, is what's standing
in the way. Corporate America has been cutting back for decades,
leaving the most talented people for the job on the sidelines.

(01:30):
They just didn't care. They saw the shades of gray
right there before them, but allowed the termination to happen
because they didn't want to jump ship, because they didn't
want to be looked at as being a quitter. I'm
going down with the ship. Well, it's not going to
happen to me. People think they're immune from current changes. Well,
the US government is cleaning house, and too many employees

(01:53):
are investing their energy in luck. Sometimes you just got
to stare reality in the eyes, because if you're your
job is saved, who's going to be your new boss? Yeah? Hey,
coming up next when it comes to getting off the grid,
what do we need to do? Hey? Thanks for coming
back to the choice. Making the choice to get off

(02:15):
the grid. In this modern day of AI, which is
overflooding with too much technology, can a person's choice really
be looked upon as being getting off the grid. Studies
show the true definition of getting off the grid means
living a lifestyle that is largely self sufficient, relying very
little on traditional utility such as electricity, water, and sewage.

(02:39):
This is when most turn to solar energy as being
their light and heat. Water harvesting is also very important,
you know, collecting rain water for domestic use. Now, let's
get real. Waste management requires a true choice of leadership.
There are composting toilets. It keeps you in control of
what's coming out. Reasons why people make the choice to

(03:01):
get off the grid include environmental choices and concerns, self sufficiency,
enjoying the independence, the cost, the savings, and all of
those true connections with nature. But but but but but
there are upfront costs. Solar energy is very expensive. As
our water collection systems and self sufficient homes. It sounds

(03:23):
like a great choice to get off the grid. But
can you afford it, and more importantly, can you maintain it?
I'm Errol, and that's what I was writing while the
sun was waking up on a brilliant new day.

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
