Speaker 1 (00:00):
Creativity is an addiction, unplugged because we will always say
yes to creativity, totally uncut because we all make mistakes.
So let's turn it into a tool. This is Arrow Unplugged.
Those moments when it's extremely difficult to make up your mind,
having the power of choice can actually weaken someone. On
this episode, we're going to explore why people continue to

(00:21):
make the choice to get into radio. Plus we'll go
the opposite direction with why people are making the choice
to leave radio. My name is Arrow. Life is a
series of choices. Who decides when you're not making the
right choice? Is it a fear of going wrong? The
greatest lessons in life are often lost inside hidden away

(00:41):
attempts and concepts. It's time to reopen your heart. Having
that choice is your daily gift. On this highway, we're
learning to trust mirages. What is the choice broadcasting careers? Now?
Because I continue to live it and I am an
edge of cater of the broadcast industry, that doesn't mean

(01:02):
I can't ask why do so many people choose to
step into the industry that it survives so many changes
and challenges? Why do people think it is what it
really isn't? People are drawn to radio for various reasons,
including a love for music, a desire to connect to
set free, a creative expression, or being part of the community.

(01:24):
Research continues to share that radio has a social impact.
Those involved make the choice to share news and other
information that listeners can easily plant in their own conversations.
The reason why radio is still part of so many
lives is because it's looked upon as being a versatile
medium that can be consumed on the go, in the car,

(01:44):
in the office, in the park, wherever you are. Radio
is especially since most radio stations these days are connected
to an app which is hooked up with your smartphone.
Why are people still in radio? It's the desire to
be heard coming up next, making the choice to leave radio? Hey,

(02:06):
thanks for coming back to the choice. Making that choice
to leave radio. In cities all across America, some of
the biggest names in broadcast history have stopped plugging in
their earphones and popping on that microphone. Making the choice
to leave radio isn't an easy decision for a lot
of speaker jocks. The question is, so what's next? If

(02:28):
radio has always been your call in life, what's the
best choice after radio? Research shows radio people choose to
get into the voiceover business or serve as educators. Radio
people are trained communicators, so they choose to use those
skills in areas of sales, marketing, public relations, journalism, and

(02:49):
of course, podcasting. Some radio people also have chosen to
get into television. Although radio has been given the same
outlook as rock and roll, it's dead report show from Nielsen.
They clearly show that radio remains the most popular media
in America, reaching eighty four percent of the population eighteen

(03:11):
years old and over. Making that choice to leave radio, really,
here's a thing. It never leaves. You're always going to
be broadcasting or communicating someplace else. You're just in a
different place. How do I know that I took up
a part time job at a grocery store. My listening
audience is right there in front of me, and I

(03:34):
don't have to say caller number three, you're on the line,
what's on your mind? They're right there every day is
my performance. I'm Meryl, and that's what I was writing
while the sun was waking up on a brilliant new day.
