Speaker 1 (00:00):
Creativity is an addiction, unplugged because we will always say
yes to creativity, totally uncut because we all make mistakes.
So let's turn it into a tool. This is Arrow unplugged.
We've all been there, those extreme difficult moments to make
up our mind. Having the power of choice can actually
weaken us. On this episode, we're going to explore the
Roman Empire. Who made the choice to make it a
(00:22):
time period worth studying? Plus making the choice to eat healthy?
How did they do it during the colonial days? My
name is Arrow. Life is a series of choices. Who
decides when you're not making it the right choice? Is
it a fear of going wrong? The greatest lessons in
life are often lost inside hidden away attempts and concepts. Well,
(00:42):
it's time to reopen your heart. Having that choice is
your daily gift. On this highway we learn to trust mirages.
What is the choice? Who made the choice to Look
at the Roman Empire as being that great movement of
people to base all empires on. The Romans are credited
(01:02):
for so many innovations that are still being used today,
but medical science it wasn't their strong point. Look at
the choices they made with their infamous gladiators, wars, and
constant assassinations of emperors. The average lifespan in the Roman
Empire days was thirty five years old. Even darker is
the infant mortality rate. Only twenty five percent of those
(01:26):
babies made it to one. That doesn't mean old age
wasn't part of their society. Gordean was eighty one years
old when becoming a Roman emperor, and Cicero's wife was
one hundred three years old. So who made the choice
to call the Roman Empire the biggest and the best?
The answer is history. The Roman civilization lasted one thousand years.
(01:50):
Three things that brought it down corruption, the division of
the empire, and the invasion of Germanic tribes. The empire
lost its strength trying to enforce more control, which when
looking back, was a bad choice. Coming up next, when
it comes to eating healthy, are we doing it right?
(02:12):
And how did they do it during the colonial period?
Thanks for coming back to the choice. Maybe it's just
the time of year we're in right now, but we're
doing everything we can to make sure that we're making
better choices when it comes to what we eat. Natural
veggies such as squash, tomatoes, fennel, carrots, broccoli and others
are selling quite well right now as our plant based foods.
(02:34):
The numbers are on the rise when it comes to sales.
When it comes to eating right, wouldn't it be the
best choice to see what the people before us had
long before the days where veggies weren't readily available like
they are today, but actually they were seasonal In our
earliest colonial days, settlers adopted and adapted to the way
of Native Americans from agricultural practices and culinary techniques. Their
(02:56):
work day in the colonial period actually started before the sun.
Breakfast was bread, milk, porridge, and corn meal mush and
I might add beer before hitting those fields. Might add
beer was acceptable before hitting those fields. In the colonial period,
lunch was actually their dinner, the biggest meal of the day,
(03:17):
which included pork, poultry, veggies, including cabbage. The so called
dinner that we have today was looked upon as being
community driven bee with people, family friends. That time period
that we called dinner today was all about the choice
of music, games, and other social events. It was food
(03:38):
for your thoughts, a big choice. I'm marrow and that's
what I was writing while the sun was waking up
on a brilliant new day,
