Speaker 1 (00:00):
Ernie is my Blue Crown conyer. For over thirty two
years he has overlooked this forest right here in South Charlotte,
North Carolina. I mean, every day Ernie sits in his
beautiful home, overlooking the trees, the nearby lake, and every
bit of the wildlife that's strolling through such an amazing
piece of Mother Earth. Ernie and I share the same vision.
(00:20):
It's this forest. We both look into the trees and
study the earth below. I mean, there is something very
spiritual going on here. The lyrics to Ernie's Forest, we
both receive an amazing amount of energy. I put my
trust and skills as a student into what Ernie is
willing to share with me. These aren't my words, these
are the lyrics from Ernie's Forest, March twenty third, twenty
(00:43):
twenty four. This is chapter number four hundred and nineteen.
Something feels very different about the birth of this moment
in spring, while walking through the forest, the birds seem
more active and very unafraid of those who pass them by.
I'm not sure our relationship with wildlife is supposed to
be only inches and feet away, but the deer elect
(01:06):
to stay. The hawks and owls sit on limbs so
amazingly close that I can physically count the feathers on
their chest. The last time I experienced something like this
was during the lockdown of twenty twenty. Every day I
walked within these trees, Mother Nature seemed to be holding
on to me. Why has that feeling returned? Might be
(01:27):
a story that's not yet written, and again it'll be
our forested surroundings that will cradle us during times of
unanswered questions. Something feels very different this spring day, and
it's not the passage of another damp morning. I call
out to my dearest forest, share with me what it
is that you're seeing. We've talked about this so much.
(01:49):
I mean a lot that if you take the time
to watch your surroundings. You can be in a park,
you can be on a city street, everything around you,
in the atmosphere of the universe. When it changes, Trust me,
it's going to affect you. You're going to be doing
things because the atmosphere around you changed, and then you
(02:11):
act like, well, I didn't know, but you did know.
You chose not to pay attention. That's the reason why
I'm a daily writer, so I can activate what it
is that I felt in a moment such as this. No,
I don't know what happened on March twenty third, and
the days after, I would have to go back into
my daily writing to find out if something was taking place.
But that's what I love about being a daily writer.
(02:34):
I've been doing this since July of nineteen ninety four,
and multiple times I have returned to those pages to
see the depth of growth, or even if there was growth.
But that's the thing that I want to encourage you
to do, is I want you to start paying attention
to all things around you. You are not the only
subject that's part of the story. All things around you
(02:57):
are part of the paragraphs, the structure of the sentences,
the storyline, the reactions. Then you've got something that you've
got to replenish. The changes in your life did not
happen because you showed up. It's because everything around you
was there, probably before you. I'm Eryl. These are not
(03:17):
my words. These are the lyrics from Ernie's Forest.
