Speaker 1 (00:00):
I've been a part of sharing the story of NBC's
The Voice since twenty sixteen, but they've been scattered across
all the digital platforms. Now all of those conversations are
in one location. Aro dot net, A R r Oe
dot net look for that voice. There's a couple of
things I want to start off with here, only because
I'm just so fascinated with your present place of now.
(00:22):
And Number one, I just have to know do Aiden
and Aubrey are they watching you on Zoom today? Going
what is mommy doing? What is going on? She's talking
all these people around the world, and it's got to
be exciting for them to see you with your outreach
in full forward motion.
Speaker 2 (00:37):
It's got to be I know, it's exciting for my daughter.
She literally asked me to take her to Walgreen. She
got some of my pictures printed out, and she actually
sells my autographs at school.
Speaker 3 (00:46):
And here's the thing, I'm not even signing them. She
is so she's excited about it.
Speaker 2 (00:51):
I say, okay, okay, I see I see your business plan.
That's plagiarism, but I see your business plan, Casalana. He's
excited for me, He cheers me. You know, he's fourteen,
and so he was like, yeah, Mom, I'm really proud
of you.
Speaker 3 (01:03):
Good job.
Speaker 2 (01:03):
But he's fourteen, he doesn't really care about a lot
of things. But I know that they are both proud
of me. And I know that they see now all
those nights that I had to sing or they had
to say at Grandma's it all led to this, And
I know that they think that I'm really a truly
a superstar and for real, for real.
Speaker 3 (01:19):
That makes my heart just flutter. That's really all that matters.
Speaker 1 (01:22):
But they're seeing your dedication, your loyalty, determination and perseverance.
Correct me, because this isn't just happening. I mean, you're
busting tail.
Speaker 2 (01:30):
Yeah, I've been at this for over a decade now,
so they're seeing all of that. And I thought that
it would be better if I can show them if
you have a dream, pursue and make it a part
of your fiber, and I'm going to be there to
support you when you decide to chase your dreams one day,
the same way I'm showing you that you can get
behind yourself right now by watching me. And so the
main thing is I just always wanted to show my
(01:51):
kids that I love them. I love them more than
I love myself, and this is what I'm willing to
do to change our lives forever.
Speaker 1 (01:58):
Well, I'm one of those freaky people that will take
a name or a word and I like to break
it down because I believe that where we are with
our vocabularies and names, it has something to do with
the past that we've already lived. And so I did
research on your name. The name Yoshi means good, righteous,
good luck. Now when you take Hannah, and the thing
(02:21):
is is that with my Korean background, Hannah is close
to Hanad that would be number one. So you are
number one with good, righteous and good luck. So your
name means number one and everything positive.
Speaker 3 (02:35):
Ooh.
Speaker 2 (02:37):
I love that I've never taken the time to research it,
and if I did, I know I didn't see that
on the internet.
Speaker 3 (02:44):
That is so amazing and.
Speaker 2 (02:45):
That's so befitting because I feel like every door, every
opportunity that has come to me has been purely God's
hand or some stroke of love.
Speaker 3 (02:54):
And I just I can't believe it. I really can't
believe that all this is still happening.
Speaker 2 (02:58):
You know.
Speaker 3 (02:58):
I wake up and I watch my VAT and I'm like,
that's really me. I did that. I'm doing this.
Speaker 1 (03:05):
But isn't that the fun of being a creative person? Though,
It's like, not every day is a victory, but you'll
find one.
Speaker 2 (03:12):
You'll find one, or it'll find you if it's if
it's for you, it won't miss you.
Speaker 3 (03:16):
Absolutely.
Speaker 2 (03:17):
That's the most beautiful thing about being a creative is
that you know where your.
Speaker 3 (03:22):
Mind can take. You know. Somebody asked me in the
comments here, was like.
Speaker 2 (03:24):
How does your mind compute these singing riffs and runs
and you're able to execute them?
Speaker 3 (03:30):
And I was like, you know what, I don't even know.
I don't even know.
Speaker 2 (03:33):
Because if I show you my practice videos, they sound
nothing like that.
Speaker 1 (03:37):
So what do they sound like? And what you ever
let somebody step into that world because we are in
this age where it seems that being transparent means ah, okay,
I'll let you hear my mistakes.
Speaker 2 (03:49):
Oh yeah, I've already posted my perform my practice videos
to where they're just the standard, straight cut the record.
I'm singing the words, I'm enunciating and I'm singing the
as they were recorded. But it's something about when I
get on that stage, arrow, when I get on that stage,
I transcend outside of my body and I just do things.
(04:10):
And that is what I absolutely love that I cannot
put a marker, I can't put marcer tape on what
it is that I do. I just do it, and
I think it's beautiful that I get to share that
with the whole world.
Speaker 1 (04:19):
So when you come off that stage, when does the
real youth step back into that body? Because I know
what it's like being on that stage. You half the time,
you don't even remember it.
Speaker 2 (04:29):
As soon as I take that wardrobe off, I'm made
in Aubrey's mom again, and I don't.
Speaker 3 (04:34):
Know what just happened. As soon as I take those
shoes off, We're done here. You know.
Speaker 2 (04:40):
Sometimes the energy that I give and I take from
being on stage sometimes when I get off stage is
kind of like I have like a drop in adrenaline
and I'm just back into the real world. But when
I get on that stage, it's like, literally, I'm outside
of myself. Is this outer body experience, and I absolutely
love it. But honestly, when I'm off the stage, I'm quiet.
I'm in the house.
Speaker 3 (04:59):
I got to move on.
Speaker 2 (05:00):
I got a headstart from it, I got fluffy thoughts
I got a couple of black coffee in my hand,
and I'm watching.
Speaker 3 (05:06):
Episodes of The Price Is Right on YouTube.
Speaker 1 (05:10):
But yeah, what was I doing before I came in here?
Watching Jack Benny episodes? Only because you see what I'm saying.
But I do because I mean, they obviously were doing
it great. What am I needing to learn so I
can take what they did back then and make it
great even today?
Speaker 2 (05:24):
Exactly exactly? You know, I study a lot of the greats.
I study a lot of my personal favorites. And when
I study them, I don't mean that I take what
they do and I use it for myself. I look
at what the crowd responds to. I listen to when they,
you know, might have used their dynamics when they drop back,
why did they do that. I'm looking at their pasha,
I'm looking at their hands. I'm studying their band, the
(05:46):
background singers, And I'm learning because that's gonna be me
very soon, and I want to make sure that I
have the formula for success under my belt.
Speaker 1 (05:54):
Do you think that's because those before us recognize the
fact that those people on the opposite side of that
cam and or music, they are real people, and we
see them as creative people, and therefore they feel it.
And it's not that they're happy to see us, they're
happy that we see them.
Speaker 2 (06:10):
Yes, you said it in a nutshell, in a shopping bag.
That's exactly it.
Speaker 1 (06:16):
Please do not move. There's more with Yoshi Hanna from
NBC's The Voice coming up next NBC's The Voice. We
are back with Yoshihana. Now here's a question only somebody
from the Southeast could handle, and that is is that
I'm in Charlotte, you're in Atlanta, you go out to
La What did you do with your sinuses? My god?
Speaker 3 (06:36):
It is Oh my god, Oh my god. I don't
you know what.
Speaker 2 (06:39):
I wish they would show all their b roll of
me playing and scratching and digging in my nose.
Speaker 3 (06:44):
It was terrible. It was terrible. I had to.
Speaker 2 (06:47):
Ode on electrolyze and alkaline water and coconut water just
to stay lubric They seem like nothing I do. My
voice was scratching and I couldn't get rid of it.
Speaker 3 (06:55):
My hair was dried. They don't have collared greens in California.
What am I gonna do?
Speaker 1 (07:01):
And you want sweet tea? What do you mean you
want sweet tea.
Speaker 3 (07:05):
They don't have sweet tea. They don't have sweet tea.
Speaker 2 (07:07):
They brought me some unsweetened tea and asked me if
I want to limit a sugar pack is get it
away from me now.
Speaker 1 (07:13):
Yeah, because I mean our sugar is it's got to
become a part of the tea. I mean, I was there.
I've seen Bojangles make their own tea. Oh my god,
it doesn't just happen that that is a science project.
Speaker 2 (07:25):
Yes, it's a science project that'll also land you in
a hospital. But I don't need it, and I need it.
Speaker 3 (07:30):
I love it.
Speaker 1 (07:32):
So now here's the thing. You being down there in Atlanta.
I'm up here in Charlotte. We've got the Panthers, You've
got the dirty Birds. So then then what happens is
is that I believe, this is what I feel in
my soul with the Panthers losing last night. I believe
that Atlanta will come back and win the division and
then go on to the Super Bowl.
Speaker 2 (07:48):
That could very well happen. But guess what, I don't
watch sports. You know why, because I got that black
I got, I got that coffee in my hand, and
I'm watching episodes of the prices right of our lives.
I'm so embarrassed to say that. I'm watching read ones
of The Bolt and the Beautiful.
Speaker 1 (08:07):
So do you ever do you ever go into a
grocery store and sit there and play prices right as
you're walking through it?
Speaker 3 (08:13):
Yep? So scrabble and words with friends too.
Speaker 2 (08:16):
I'm in a tournament with one of my friends and
like we actually had we stopped.
Speaker 3 (08:20):
We stopped speaking a while ago because I was tearing
her up. So y'all, no, I don't.
Speaker 4 (08:25):
Really keep up with sports that with with you being
a conflict analysis and you know analyst what that that
means that you do a lot of research and you've
got to do a lot of people watching.
Speaker 1 (08:36):
That's a ton of information to go through your eyes.
Speaker 2 (08:41):
Yes, absolutely, what I do is very You have to
pay a lot of attention to detail. You cannot make
a mistake because that mistake will you know, make an
a turney upid and probably you know, be a risk
issue for the firm.
Speaker 3 (08:55):
But what I do, I really love it. I'm really
a nerd.
Speaker 2 (08:58):
I love to read, I love to research, and I
love being on the computer and using different you know,
systems at one time.
Speaker 3 (09:05):
It makes me feel like I'm important and what I
do is important and I feel needed. I love it.
I love my team, I love my supervisors. And I
told I told my boss.
Speaker 2 (09:13):
He was like, you're gonna leave, but an't you? I
was like, no, not until I get an invite to
the met Gala. They're Grammies or something. I'm not quitting
my job.
Speaker 3 (09:19):
I love it here.
Speaker 1 (09:21):
That's like people always say, if you win the lottery,
you're gonna quit. No, no, I need this. This is
who I really am.
Speaker 3 (09:28):
I need to be doing something. I need to do something.
Speaker 2 (09:32):
So until let's say that morning comes to where I
can wake up and solely work on my music projects,
I'm taking my tail to work.
Speaker 1 (09:39):
Well, look at what you're doing with R and B Underground.
I mean that right there, that's opening up the door
and pumping up the volume on some new and improved.
Speaker 3 (09:46):
Absolutely.
Speaker 2 (09:46):
And so the next one that I have on December nineteen,
it's gonna be like the Homecoming edition. I'm going back
home to Orlando and I'm gonna celebrate these wins with
the people who saw me started all they started with me.
I'm so excited about it. R and B on around
is my baby. Wow?
Speaker 1 (09:58):
Where can people go to fight out more about you.
Speaker 3 (10:02):
People can definitely follow me on Instagram. They can follow
me on TikTok.
Speaker 2 (10:08):
Both of the handles are Yoshi Hanna and the profile
pictures are the same, so people can't get it mixed up.
But whatever it is, I just want people to be
a part of the journey because this is for all
of us, for me, this is for them, is for
all of us.
Speaker 1 (10:19):
All right, when you come to Charlotte, Okay, we're gonna
start over there at Harris Teeter. We're gonna get some
fresh collared greens. We're not doing that stuff in a camp.
Speaker 3 (10:26):
And they'll have some smoke turkey and.
Speaker 1 (10:29):
They're better be. They're better be. Okay, So I'll get
the table ready. All but you got to go shopping
with me though, because I think you would be a
blast inside a grocery store.
Speaker 3 (10:37):
So you want to cook together?
Speaker 1 (10:39):
To is doing. That's my thing, that's my thing.
Speaker 3 (10:41):
Do it. Let's do it. It's already done.
Speaker 1 (10:46):
Will you be brilliant today?
Speaker 3 (10:47):
Okay, and same to you. Thank you so much for
having me
