Speaker 1 (00:00):
Okay, this is going to sound kind of freaky weird,
only because we start off by talking about the dogs
in our lives. That's what I love about the pre
conversations before the actual conversation, because you learn so much
about the people you're going to be with at the
drop of hat. Seriously, things can change in your battle
plans to create a great conversation, and when they bring
(00:20):
things up, it's like, oh, we're going a completely different direction.
And this is definitely one of those moments. Watch how
it plays out.
Speaker 2 (00:26):
I've got four of them next to me, and they
go on baby pats. They're very small shaws.
Speaker 3 (00:31):
My little puzzles getting older. He's thirteen, so he sometimes
he can't hold it.
Speaker 4 (00:36):
I get it. I can't.
Speaker 3 (00:37):
How are you have that problem?
Speaker 4 (00:38):
Right?
Speaker 1 (00:39):
Well, ja z will come in here, even while I'm
doing interviews, and she'll interrupt the interviews and she's like, going,
there's nobody more normal. They're not important compared to me.
I mean, I don't know why you're sitting in this room, dude.
I mean she's well, that's mis.
Speaker 3 (00:51):
That's my Zoe. There's nobody more important than Zoey. She
she will not leave us alone when we're trying to work.
She just wants to play BALI that's it.
Speaker 4 (00:58):
I wish told four of them. Next to me.
Speaker 2 (01:00):
I have Honeybaby, Lexi, my missing girly girl, and Molly.
So I've got four babies walls, and they're just amazing
and they love to hear my voice from them on
these of.
Speaker 5 (01:11):
Course they do. Of course they're.
Speaker 4 (01:12):
Quiet, they're very quiet.
Speaker 5 (01:14):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (01:15):
Well, here's something that's going to go with our Halloween
conversation is that you talked about your four babies with you.
I've rescued nine dogs throughout my life, and all the
ashes of those dogs except for one, are sitting right
here with me because I believe, oh that I believe
in the power of continuation.
Speaker 4 (01:30):
I do too.
Speaker 2 (01:31):
As a matter of fact, I've lost four before these
girls I have them. Well, we're in North Carolina, we're
behind in Tampa. They're in Tampa, and guess what, we're
going to be buried in New Orleans. I know this
is Climber Cobb, but it wasn't my show. And we
already told the guy these dogs are come. We're splitting
the dogs up. Some are going in vance Cofton, some
are going into mine.
Speaker 4 (01:49):
And that's I'm gonna forever.
Speaker 2 (01:51):
They're going to forever be in my life.
Speaker 5 (01:54):
You said something about Carolina. Whereabouts in Carolina is your house?
Speaker 4 (01:57):
We are in Highlands, so one of the West, you know.
Speaker 2 (01:59):
On the other Yeah, it's so sweet.
Speaker 1 (02:02):
Oh but I'm here on I'm down here in Charlotte,
so I totally get what's going on. And isn't that
odd though, that our ashes want to be spread someplace
else because I want to go to Charleston either that
or I want to go to Santa Barbara. And it's like, wait,
the last year is so beautiful.
Speaker 2 (02:17):
So beautiful. We're from New Orleans, so we have to
go back there. Yeah, it is God's country up here,
and the leaves are more forty one hundred feet so
we've got gorgeous leaves going on.
Speaker 5 (02:27):
Oh happen, so relate with you.
Speaker 1 (02:31):
So when it comes to up all night, why is
it that horror films and freaky things like this always
are associated with knights Because I have always been a
fan of movies like this, and my wife and I
are known. The older we get, the more we watch
the scary movies in the daytime.
Speaker 2 (02:48):
I think that's smart because you have enough hours, so
that you know, go to bed on the film and
then dream about it. And that's one of the reasons
I don't like watching them at night is I don't
want to I dream about whatever.
Speaker 4 (02:59):
The last thing I did. I don't know. I think
it's of course associated with night.
Speaker 2 (03:03):
I think it's it gives you a coziness and something
about cuddling up and being scared espec especially if you're
with a loved one. And I think it goes back
to people cheering on the kids in the film, usually
over the Boogeyman, and that comes from I think being
bullied in school.
Speaker 4 (03:20):
I think it's like psychological. I think a lot of that.
Speaker 2 (03:23):
People like horror films because they're rooting for the underdog,
and the underdog usually wins in the end, and I
think that there's something about that, and it's such a
huge resurgence in horror films right now.
Speaker 5 (03:35):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (03:35):
So what's so interesting though, is that we always want
the underdog, and yet nowadays we're cheering for Michael and
Freddie and we want the guy and Saw to win.
It's almost like the teams have changed on us here.
Speaker 2 (03:46):
Maybe, So I'm going to try to bring it back
I'm sorry. I like the film so Yesterdyear. Even though
we're showing I mean, the Kings of Horror is the
name of the channel on YouTube. Even though we're showing
horror films. I'm really hoping to bring some of the
teen films and the B films and you know those
sexy little comedies that I was known for on Up
(04:07):
All Night on USA Network.
Speaker 4 (04:08):
So whole New world, we get to play a lot more.
Speaker 2 (04:11):
The parent company owns like fourteen thousand licenses, fourteen thousand films,
so we can ask for certain films that can try
to get them for us.
Speaker 4 (04:21):
Well, it's really a cool time.
Speaker 2 (04:22):
I mean, it's kind of like the early days of
Basic Cable to have the freedom to play.
Speaker 1 (04:28):
You know, it's so funny you say that, because that's
exactly how I feel, because it's the power of choice.
And when when I want to watch some Jordan Peel
or I want to see something from anybody who does this,
I mean, I'm more into what was what is that
director scene inside their imagination before it reaches me, and
do they spook themselves.
Speaker 2 (04:45):
That's really interesting too, that you say that, because you know,
I'm kind of now reviewing myself with getting reacquainted with
horror films because quite frankly, in the last twenty something years,
I since up all night or more, I have been
in the intimate of power business. So I'm playing with
bras and pennies. So it's start of fun to be
(05:07):
getting back into the genre. So part of what I'm
doing is actually bringing on directors and producers, yes, and
people who are experts, because I am not. I mean,
admittedly I'm not Joe Bob Briggs, who has you know,
really has that deep, you know, knowledge of all things
horror and I mean, and I even told the Kings
(05:27):
of Horror.
Speaker 4 (05:27):
I said, they said, no, we want the sketches, and
I said, I will. I certainly will watch the films.
I will study what we're up to.
Speaker 2 (05:34):
But I want to bring on because I want to
be authentic to my audience, right want. I want to
bring on the true experts. So I have John Brennan.
I don't know who he is. He was on the
he was on the last Drive in and so he's
also going to continue to do music for Joe Bob
and he is also going to be my musical director
and my neighbor on the show.
Speaker 4 (05:54):
And he knows all things hard. He's just a wealth
of information.
Speaker 2 (05:58):
Plus we're going to bring in a lot of stars
like I have Felicia Rose and Learnia Quigley on my
first show. So and we're going to bring in directors
and here's the wild thing.
Speaker 4 (06:07):
They're dying to do the show.
Speaker 2 (06:09):
And we have a lot of young independent filmmakers who
want to get their word out there too. And I'm
good friends with looks like Lloyd Kaufman, who still loves
coming on.
Speaker 4 (06:17):
And talking all things harr So. I mean, if I
can't do it, they'll do it.
Speaker 2 (06:21):
And just as long as I'm authentic, I want to
bring the zany, the crazy, the fun, the pretty young girls.
I want to bring back the feeling of the nineties
that I feel like this younger generation has completely.
Speaker 4 (06:33):
Missed out on.
Speaker 2 (06:34):
I know, I'll have my fans that know the show,
that grew up with the show, But then we're going
to bring in their kids and their grandkids, and I
will surround myself with a fabulous cast or characters.
Speaker 5 (06:44):
Please do not move. There's more with Rhonda Shear coming up.
Speaker 1 (06:47):
Next, the name of the show, up all Night with
Rwanda Shere. We're back with our conversation. What's great about
what you're doing right now is that you're not keeping
this to yourself, because there's a lot of people that
will hoard their love for horror films and stuff like that,
and you feel like old mother Hubbard living in her cupboard.
But the thing is, though, is that you're saying, no, no, no,
(07:07):
come on in, come in and look at my cupboards.
If you want to put something in there, you can.
If you want to take something out, you can. This
is for all of us, is.
Speaker 2 (07:14):
I want to open it up, because that's the first
thing I told them. I said, I need to be
completely authentic. And it's been a long time since I'm
hosted the shows. I'm certainly going to do my homework
and study about everything that all the films that we show,
but I wanted to bring in.
Speaker 4 (07:27):
We were different.
Speaker 2 (07:28):
Gilbert and I were different than Joe, Bob Briggs and
even the Last Drive.
Speaker 4 (07:33):
In and even Alvira Cassandra. I know them all.
Speaker 2 (07:36):
I know them all well, and we were always more
sketch forward because actually the USA Network wanted to really
hold the attention.
Speaker 4 (07:43):
I would do.
Speaker 2 (07:44):
Commercials for Snapple and Budweiser, like on set, So I
want to bring in some of that magic and really
use actors, and I wanted to be like a little sitcom,
you know, little bits of that feeling, and then also
have a great not the films in between two and
will definitely address the films, but.
Speaker 4 (08:04):
It'll it won't be just about the films. We want
it to be.
Speaker 2 (08:07):
I want to be this comedian and bring back the
comedy that we just don't see.
Speaker 4 (08:11):
That's i'm sorry, kind of silly comedy and fun comedy.
Speaker 2 (08:15):
I mean, we're doing our second show is going to
be a scream Queen School.
Speaker 4 (08:21):
So I'm booking all these real scream queens.
Speaker 2 (08:24):
Along with some young actresses and so I am going
to have beautiful women around me and they're going to
do a scream Queen School, and I'm going to have
like the judges and they're gonna and we have them
doing the crawling away from them from the Freddy Krueger,
you know. And the thing is that they always they
go into the why do they go into a closet
in the haunted house instead of.
Speaker 4 (08:45):
The other way?
Speaker 2 (08:46):
You know, they crawl away and then they always throw
some object at the monster, which is like.
Speaker 4 (08:51):
A high heel, but not a knight for a gun.
Speaker 2 (08:53):
You know we're gonna we're going to take people through
that and of course learning how to scream. It's going to
be that, you know, for lack of a better word,
the word that I use back in the ninety campy. Yes,
and you don't see campy Saturday and Night Live won't
give it to you.
Speaker 4 (09:08):
They're oh too smart. And you know what, I'm bringing.
Speaker 2 (09:11):
Back the fun of that kind of sketch comedy that
you don't see anymore. And I've had a lot of
actors reach out to me for just putting some casting
out from all of other countries, saying I know the
kind of characters you want and I can bring you
that and I love it.
Speaker 5 (09:23):
Yep. Don't you love it? Though?
Speaker 1 (09:24):
When scream queens come on and you have a conversation
with them, and as much as we've heard them scream
in movies, it's always like, Hi.
Speaker 5 (09:31):
How are you doing? I'm soft spoken? Yeah, this is
what I did?
Speaker 1 (09:35):
And he say, WHOA, give me give me that sound
that I'm used to many pro wrestlers and rock stars
give me there, you dude, what's up man?
Speaker 4 (09:44):
I know character. I've been a book wrestlers on the
show too. It's funny to say that as all my God,
the audience.
Speaker 2 (09:51):
Of wrestlers and the audience of Harror is very similar.
A lot of the conventions book both of them. So
who's a fan of mine and we've only talked on
the phone and we've talked via Facebook, but he's going
to do the show is Nick Nemus, and he loves
comedy and he's funny, and he's taken your Martin.
Speaker 4 (10:09):
So I know a lot of them.
Speaker 2 (10:10):
Of the wrestlers and from the days when USA Network
used to air God WWF and I was on WrestleMania.
So I can't wait to do that. They're fun and
they like that crazy sketch comedy. I mean, that's kind
of their their thing, their characters. So we're going to
bring in wrestlers were already that's going to be one
of our first shows as we hit. We're going to
do three specials once a month, So we hit the
(10:32):
first of the year and then we go into every
other week after that, and right after the first of
the year, we're going to definitely do a wrestling show.
Speaker 1 (10:39):
You got to come back to this show and talk
about that, because I mean, ten minutes with you is
not enough time, Rond, and we need to break it
all down. We need to get inside that imagination of
yours and build a foundation that's forever.
Speaker 2 (10:50):
I would love that. Thank you, I appreciate it. This
is why I'm so excited. And as we goes, you know,
we've been in the intimate of PowerUP business for years.
You create, you design, you do all this. We're seeing
you more excited. I said, this seeds my soul because
along with me acting, bringing all these young people in
young and just turning people onto this world that they
don't know is so exciting.
Speaker 5 (11:11):
Wow, will you be brilliant today? Okay, thank you so much.
Speaker 4 (11:16):
I so appreciate it. You have to say all night.
Speaker 2 (11:18):
On October twenty fifth, our first show on King Sahara
