Missed opportunity. Man, I love sharing conversations. Now, hosting these
conversations requires a lot of show prep. My podcasting platform
features thousands of guests. What you don't have access to
are the missed opportunities. The show prep was completed, but
the conversations didn't happen. I keep all of my notes
because I believe that paths will one day cross again.

Let me explain missed opportunity. It's my questions and statements
without their answers. I'm leaving open enough space at the
end of each question, hoping they'll download the talk and
insert their answers, then send it back to me. Missed
opportunity is a lost piece of history, like a message
in a bottle. It's been tossed out to see I

here are my notes. February thirteen, twenty twenty three. The
invitation was received actor hopper Jack Pinn, son of Robin
Wright and Sean Pin. Their new movie was called Devil's Peak.
It's going to be premiering in theaters and on demand
February seventeenth, twenty twenty three. Okay, there's only a one

hour window evadable for anyone to have a conversation here. Okay,
I took a shot. I took a gamble. I'm available
noon till one. Y'all get maybe seven minutes. First, let's
talk about the movie. The film starred Billy, Bob Thornton
and Robin Wright. Hopper was no newcomer to the movie scene,
starring in the Last Phase and Between Worlds with Nicholas Cage. Okay,

here's the thing. I was given the leadoff interview position
at twelve noon and it was more than seven minutes.
I was gonna get ten minutes, man, I wrote back
and said perfect. On February fourteenth, an email was received,
gonna make this a double meaning you get twenty minutes now?
Are you kidding me? I love this kind of stuff.

February fifteenth, another email arrives, FYI, he prefers to go
by the name Hopper Jack Pan. February twenty third, twenty
twenty three, a reminder of the interview was received. Wow,
here we go, it's going to be tomorrow. Later that day,
the conversation needed to be rescheduled February twenty fourth, twenty

twenty three. They asked, am I confirmed for the new
time period? My reply, absolutely ready. The conversation didn't happen.
It was a missed opportunity. Coming up next the questions

the film, love gives you insight. It's time to live
the life you lead. Coming from a novel released in
twenty fifteen, how did you prepare for this? Do you

see today's movie atmosphere as being a new frontier. This
film is packed with amazing talent, Billy Bob Thornton and
your mom, Robin Wright, Jackson County, North Carolina. It looks
like the backwoods, but it's actually a big City. How
do you know when a character is just right, it's

doing what it needs to do in its showtime. You
inspire me in the way that you want to be
hopper Jack. Would I be crossing the line if I
thanked your father for what he's done in Ukraine? Have
you taken in a moment of writing or directing? What
did Billy Bob Thornton learn from your acting skills? You

pour your soul into each and every one of your roles.
That is so damn unbelievable. Will there ever come a
day when more of the family pulls off a role
in the film? Binge watching? Television is so huge today?
Would you ever appear in a television series? There you
have it. Those are my questions for hopper Jackpin missed opportunity.

The Burden
The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm. When they realized Scarcella helped put many of them away, they set their sights on taking him down. And with the help of a NY Times reporter they have a chance. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say.
