Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey, my name is Erro, host of the weekly podcast
pod Crashing. We are three hundred and ninety two episodes
deep in making these constant connections with listeners as well
as the specialists behind the microphone. My goal has always
been to inform our community with subjects that deal with
everything and beyond. Podcast hosts are very open and always

(00:22):
filled with a spirit that spreads their skills as journalists,
medical specialists, true crime solvers, gamblers, motivators, spiritualists, and yes,
even actors of very famous children. There's a podcast for
every subject. Pod Crashing has been around in my life
since March of twenty nineteen. The original goal was to
put focus on helping up and coming podcasters to have

(00:43):
the right information about hosting as well as surviving as
a podcaster. That idea went about fifty four episodes before
adopting a new plan. Why am I not talking to
the actual podcasters around the world. The purpose of pod
Crashing one on one is to help you build your
own platform, promote it, and earn some money. All of

(01:06):
these so called podcasts analytics professionals who claim they can
find you more podcast downloads and make you even more money,
do they really know what they're doing. They're called growth consultants,
monetization experts, or analytics pros. Their legitimacy varies, so if

(01:26):
you choose to jump on board their sales pitch, keep
your eye on your bank account and your real financial numbers.
I'm bothered by those in the growth consultant business when
I ask for a brief story about one of my
sixteen podcasts. First of all, I write to them. I
say thank you so much for taking the time to
notice that I'm out here. I would really love to
create a stronger team of professionals. You claim to know me, well,

(01:51):
start now. Tell me about why I do what it
is that I do, and for how long have I
been doing this? The long term vision? Do you know
what that is? I've invested a lot of time into
what is happening here. But can you tell me who
I interviewed two weeks ago? Do you want to know
what the reply is? Nothing? I get nothing in return.
The answers are right there in each and every podcast.

(02:14):
As a podcaster, here's what you need to do. Ask
them about their track record number two, get their strategy down.
Make sure they are transparent with you. One hundred percent
of the way, and never stop asking questions about their specifications.
If you're truly out to hire somebody, make sure that

(02:35):
when you hire them, you're the one that's in control.
Coming up next, what happens when you do see growth
in your podcasts? How are you going to survive? Hey,
thanks for coming back to pod crashing one on one.
When it comes to growth professionals, what are the red

(02:57):
flags we should be watching out for? To me, anything
associated with emails, text messages, or even posts on the Internet,
specially linked in. I don't believe anything that they're putting
up there. Those, to me are a red flag. The
red flags that should rock your podcast common sense. People
who guarantee downloads and income. Here's the thing. Nobody can

(03:19):
promise this, nobody. A podcast journey rests in your arms.
And how loyal you remain to your word that you're spreading.
Red flag number two if they speak of pay per
play or bought traffic. I've been with companies who hired
these growth professionals and the analytics were false numbers. It

(03:40):
can get you banned from networks. You've got to watch
out for the high upfront fees, which to me, is
proof of delivering what their forked tongue is promising. You
need to see their performance based methods. This makes me
cringe when a growth professional says, well, you know, one
size fits all. Podcast growth isn't about cookie cutting. Your

(04:04):
growth as a podcaster should be to work with other podcasters,
do some cross pollinating, share the news, be consistent of
your quality, use social media in a smart, great tool way.
As for would I hire a growth or analytics professional, listen, yeah,
I'll build a team, But I've got questions about me.

(04:29):
Is that being too selfish? I don't think so. I'm
Eryl and that's podcrashing one on one
