Speaker 1 (00:00):
One of the biggest shows on television is NBC's The Voice.
I've been blessed with the opportunity to share conversations with
those that have participated since twenty sixteen. Where can you
get them? Arrow dot net, a Roe dot Net. Look
for the podcast that's titled That Voice. Those Old Saints.
You know, phrases, idioms, those things your family and friends

(00:22):
usually said, and it came from out of nowhere, and
only sometimes it actually made sense. Well, they had to
start somewhere, right, Who, what, where, why, when? And how?
Some of those old saints are not only ancient, but
still carry a powerful punch even today. In fact, I
live by one of those old saints. Winning is a choice.
The goal of these episodes is to help preserve not

(00:43):
only a language, but lessons in life. My name is
Arrow easy as Pie. I mean, who hasn't been caught
telling somebody, oh, come on, no sweat, that should be
easy as Pie. It's actually not as old as what
you might think. It's looked upon as being American English
nineteenth century and it has absolutely nothing to do with

(01:05):
making a pie, but rather eating the pie. Pies have
always been looked upon as being a symbol of comfort
as well as pleasure. When the people of the eighteen
hundred said it's as easy as pie, it meant pies
make us very happy, which inspires me to ask somebody today, So,
if it's as easy as pie, go ahead and tell

(01:26):
me when was the last time you had a slice
of pie? What was the flavor of that pie? If
they can't answer it, should we call them out? Do
you really know what you're physically saying? I mean, it
truly is American slang that's being used almost incorrectly every day.
If it's as easy as pie, was it chicken pot pie?

(01:47):
Was it Shepherd's pie? I mean, come on, name your pie.
In England they use a different phrase. They don't say pie.
They say, oh, it's as easy as a piece of cake.
In short, it really means something that is simple and
in enjoyable, which I totally grass. But now that you
know how to react to somebody who says, oh, man,
that's easy as pie, do your chores, do your job?

(02:08):
Easy as pie? Really, when was the last time you
had pie? Then watch where the conversation grows. Hi'm Meryl,
And that's something our parents would say

Are You A Charlotte?

Are You A Charlotte?

In 1997, actress Kristin Davis’ life was forever changed when she took on the role of Charlotte York in Sex and the City. As we watched Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte navigate relationships in NYC, the show helped push once unacceptable conversation topics out of the shadows and altered the narrative around women and sex. We all saw ourselves in them as they searched for fulfillment in life, sex and friendships. Now, Kristin Davis wants to connect with you, the fans, and share untold stories and all the behind the scenes. Together, with Kristin and special guests, what will begin with Sex and the City will evolve into talks about themes that are still so relevant today. "Are you a Charlotte?" is much more than just rewatching this beloved show, it brings the past and the present together as we talk with heart, humor and of course some optimism.
