Speaker 1 (00:00):
Missed opportunity. I love sharing conversations. Hosting them requires show prep.
My podcasting platforms feature thousands of guests. Now what you
don't have access to are the missed opportunities. The show
prep was completed, the conversation didn't happen. I keep all
of my notes, and the reason why is because I
believe paths will cross again. Let me explain missed opportunity.

(00:22):
It's my questions and statements without their answers. I'm leaving
open enough space at the end of each question hoping
they'll download the talk and insert their answers. Missed opportunity
is a lost piece of history. It's like a message
in a bottle that's been tossed out to see its
goal to locate a destination. This week, we're putting focus

(00:44):
on my missed opportunity with award winning actor, improv comedian
and writer Andrew Fung. Actor Andrew Fung comes from the
TV show Run the Verbs on the CW. He's one
of the top comedic performers in Canada, actually earning four
Canadian Screen Awards thanks to his role on the TV
show Kim's Convenience. Now he's made the move to the
CW with Run the Verbs, which follows the Fams, a

young South Asian family taking a different approach to bringing
life to its fullest while changing the way that we
think of contemporary family values. The invitation to share a
conversation came on July seventeenth, two thy twenty three, less
than twenty four hours later, I was given an eighteen
minute slot at nine forty am. Instantly I replied, oh no,

(01:27):
I have a nine to fifty conversation. They returned, can
you do nine forty to nine fifty? And again an
email from me didn't make it to them. It's still
sitting in my draft folder. I assumed I had the interview.
Google didn't pass the message forward, but pup bu bu
bu butt. I resent it and landed a spot, only

(01:47):
to hear on July twenty six, twenty twenty three, that
due to the Writers and Actors Strike, my conversation with
actor comedian Andrew Fung would be canceled. I watched, as
well as experienced the entire sea on the CW, and
I'm willing to reopen the door to score a conversation
with Andrew for season two of Run the Urbs coming

(02:08):
up next. My questions for Andrew. Hey, welcome back to
my missed Opportunity with actor, writer comedian Andrew Fung. The
questions CW. That's where you're found Monday's nine PM run
The Verbs. The word family no longer begins with a
letter F. You're saying it starts with pH A, M,

(02:29):
I L Y. Let's talk about your sneaker collection. Is
it about the future sales or the thrill of owning
multiple pairs? The sitcom is so real in the way
that you're taking culture and you're exploring it. The Fams
that's the name of the family. This is going to
show my age here. But are you the new al

(02:50):
bundies taking over our lives? Look? I know on the
show you guys live on a call to sack. I
also live on a call to sack. We take care
of each other while still being strange in very awkward.
I love your story, actor comedian MC writer, you are
a creative ball of energy. Your part of the show's
ideas to take that moment and create moving pictures feels

(03:13):
like what to you? AI? Technology is a huge part
of Hollywood. How is it affecting your current situation? I
like this scene here, something as simple as unloading the
groceries from your car, and you do it in one trip.
Oh dude, I was studying you Beaverton. This is how
you met your on screen wife in the sitcom? How

(03:36):
did you set up that scene? The CW is on YouTube,
It's on Hulu Live and Direct TV. Do you think
it'll grow in other areas, other apps like Shit's Creek? Did?
How did you keep this from looking and feeling like
a Canadian comedy? Is acting a great place to be
with streaming or is it about getting as much visibility

(03:58):
as possible. The creative collaboration with the actors on the
show is so spot on. You and Rocky, you're the
new Carol and Mike Brady? Do you pull from everyday
life situations to craft the storylines? Keep it in mind
that the writer's strike and the actor strike are taking
place at the same time. How are you keeping your

creative skills activated during this downtime? And there you have it,
My missed opportunity with actor Andrew Fung A lost piece
of history. See you know a lost piece of history?
You know the questions? Now, let's locate their reactions. The
