Speaker 1 (00:00):
Missed opportunity. I love sharing conversations. You know, hosting them
require some show prep. My podcasting platform features thousands of guests.
What you don't have access to are the missed opportunities.
The show prep was one hundred percent completed, the conversation
didn't happen. I keep all of my notes because I
believe the paths will cross again. Let me explain missed opportunity.
(00:22):
It's my questions and statements without their answers. I'm leaving
open enough space at the end of each question, hoping
they'll download the talk and insert their answers. It's happened
two times. I would like to make it happen one
hundred times or more. Missed opportunity is a lost piece
of history, like a message in a bottle. It's tossed
(00:43):
out to see I hope to locate a destination. This week,
we're putting focus on my missed opportunity with doctor sharif
elna Hall from the Department of Veteran Affairs. Okay, so
let's do some research on this. Doctor sharif Elnahll is
the Under Secretary of Health at the Veterans Health Administration
within the Department of veteran affairs. His plan and purpose
(01:07):
is to spread the word on why vacare is the
best choice for veterans. New data has been released about
vacare ways the VA achieves and maintains quality care for veterans.
Believe it or not, there are veterans who choose not
to use the VA. The VA has outperformed non VA hospitals.
(01:27):
The conversation itself. The invitation arrived on September fourth, twenty
twenty four. They asked what I be interested in helping
to share the positive word about the VA. My reply was,
I believe in this. What is the best time that
you can get me on Friday so that we can
really get involved with this. They returned, I have eight thirty, eight, fifty, nine, ten,
(01:48):
and nine forty. My return was, let's do nine forty.
They instantly shot back and excellent, They'll call you. Thanks Zerah,
good stuff. Twenty four hours later, I received their message
of canceling due to an emergency. If and when they reschedule,
I'll reach out and I'll let you know, to which
I said, cool. Coming up next my missed opportunity questions
(02:12):
for doctor Sharif Elnahl, Secretary of Health at the Veterans
Health Administration. Hey, welcome back to Missed Opportunity. This week
we're putting focus on my Missed Opportunity with doctor Sharif Elnahl.
The questions are VA centers are outperforming non VA hospitals.
Why wouldn't you want to go to a VA center
(02:34):
when they choose not to use a VA center? What
can we say as everyday people on these streets? How
do we get the right message to our men and
women who have served this nation. VA sinners are all
about outreach, but they aren't reaching those who are saying no,
I'm okay. Does it cost our men and women of
(02:57):
the military money that they may not have? Where can
men and women go to find support as well as service?
So many of our soldiers wait until the last minute
to get medical help. I just performed at an event
that was all about VA medical centers. I am shocked
(03:18):
about what you are sharing with us. Why aren't men
and women making it an automatic to go to a
VA center? Is it because the locations are difficult to find?
Every person I met at the event was amazingly positive
about the support from VA centers. What are we learning
(03:38):
from those who aren't using the VA centers, who are
the doctors and the caregivers. And there you have it,
another missed opportunity, a lost piece of history. You now
know the questions, so let's locate the reactions. The door
is always going to be open. If you know doctor
Sharif or if you are doctor Sharif, please reach out
