Speaker 1 (00:00):
Missed opportunity. I love sharing conversations. Hosting them requires a
lot of show prep. Mike podcast platform features thousands of guests.
What you don't have access to are my missed opportunities.
The show prep was one hundred percent done, the conversation
didn't happen. I keep all of my notes because I
believe that paths will one day cross again. Let me

(00:21):
explain missed opportunity. It's my questions and statements without their answers.
I'm leading open enough space at the end of every question,
hoping they'll download the talk and insert their answers. Missed
opportunity is a lost piece of history, like a message
in a bottle. It's been tossed out to see Now
it's time to locate the destination. This week, we're putting

(00:41):
focus on my missed opportunity with Ashlan Harris from the
podcast Wide Open. Ashland Harris Wide Open. Her calling is
to invite guests and listeners to open up, you know,
to share their struggles and triumphs, because she believes inside
her soul that it helps feead personal and professional growth.

(01:02):
Her podcast features people from the world of sports, entertainment, fashion, music,
and even politics. Wide open signifies a moment of readiness,
awareness and opportunity. The podcast has a true purpose to
embrace oneself learning how to break down the barriers. Ashland

(01:22):
is a two time World soccer champion, a goalkeeper and
now the creative consultant and producer for Hello Sunshine and
Deep Blue Sports. The invitation to share a conversation with
Ashlan Harris arrived on February six, twenty twenty five. Within
a few hours, I was blessed with a yes. It
would be a double which means a twenty minute conversation

(01:44):
for Wednesday, February nineteenth, my slot nine twenty to nine forty.
My reply rock on a zoom link was sent to
me on February eighteenth. The show prep was done and
ready to receive real answers. Not even two hours go
oh bye, and the next email arrives there are changes
in her schedule. There would not be a conversation. Then

(02:08):
another email stand by. We're told that she can make
the conversation, only to learn it wasn't going to happen.
Coming up next, My questions and statements to podcaster Ashlan Harris. Hey,
welcome back to Missed Opportunity. This week, my missed opportunity
with podcaster Ashland Harris. Her podcast is titled Wide Open,

(02:33):
That moment when we break wide open and take not
only notes, but we learn as we all grow forward.
When did you realize that this was going to be
something that needed to be accomplished, A podcast that's all
about letting things go and being more open about your
true self. Brooke said, it wasn't about her, it was

(02:54):
about putting the light on the newsmakers. Your conversation with
Brooke Balden, Hey, I live in the Carolinas. She's also
a tar hill. When you stop giving yourself to the bosses,
you take the steps that you were called to climb with.
Brooke needed that moment with C and N. All broadcasters do,

(03:15):
and oh my god, it creates tears, but then you
whisper inside. See this is proof that I am not alone.
Your interviewing style is not interviewing. You're actually having physical conversations.
You know, Brooke thought of herself as being the good girl.
She colored between the lines. Her truth in this is

(03:36):
very very revealing. When did you know that you had
this amazing way to get guests to speak up? I mean,
you are the listener first how do you keep your
cool when your guests are setting stuff up? What are
you learning from all of this that can serve as
tools in the future. One thing that you point out

(03:59):
is there are no two barriers the same, but we
can learn from each other. You don't put the entire
focus just on sports. You allow us to step into
a real world. Let's talk about Colton Underwood, TV personality
and former pro football player. Yet you let us see
the human side. Colton new with sexuality. His openness has

(04:22):
helped hundreds of thousands of others. I love that Colton
puts focus on fatherhood even while facing his own inner secrets.
Tim Harvard he asked the question, what do you want
your legacy to be? I love how loyal you are
in being unfiltered. I mean, you can drop that f

(04:44):
bomb anytime you want to. I work with the younger generation.
Job hopping has got to stop. You're a goalkeeper. How
do you deal with things like this? And there you
have it, My missed opportunity with Ashlyn Harris, the host
of the podcast Wide Open. This is a lost piece

(05:04):
of history. You now know the questions, Now let's locate
the reactions. The door is always going to be open.
