All right, And that was south Side by hot Box.
We're gonna take a quick break and come back and
talk to the guys from hot Box and find out
what it is they want to share with us about
the song. So stay with us and we'll be right back.
All right, and we're back. Let's bring in hot Box
and talk about the song south Side. Hey, guys, thank
you so much for taking some time this afternoon to

(05:02):
chat with me about the song.

Speaker 6 (05:03):
Oh, thank you for having us.

Speaker 2 (05:05):
Absolutely so yeah. You know, my buddy Dan connected me
with you guys, and he sent it over and it's
a it's a compelling track and I would love to
hear what tell me about you, guys, like, what about
the song is something that you wanted to talk about specifically?

Speaker 3 (05:23):
Well, originally, first of all, the band originally from the
south of Israel, so we are Southside Boys.

Speaker 6 (05:29):
This is the core thing of the song.

Speaker 3 (05:31):
Okay, it's kind of all about like all right hooligance
and everybody around it because it's like Southside Boys.

Speaker 6 (05:40):
We have a back down basically telling me a little
bit of our story in the song itself. If you
go through the lyrics, yep, you basically.

Speaker 3 (05:48):
Everything that goes. It's like an introduction song. Dennis and
all the band. We rewrote the song after we had
a first vocalist who left and we wrote the song
with all the band.

Speaker 6 (06:02):
We actually said together was the first thing a song
we write as a band, right, No, as a band, yes, as.

Speaker 7 (06:08):
A band might be yeah, the first song that we
write together.

Speaker 3 (06:11):
Yeah, yeah, so we sat down because the first song
Danny wrote by himself for the band was Boom, but
this was specifically the first song we sat down and
wrote together.

Speaker 7 (06:20):
Yeah, Like I remember, I came with the course and
then we were like we brought the lyrics in and
that was a cool one that.

Speaker 6 (06:30):
Was pretty old yeah years ago.

Speaker 3 (06:33):
Yeah, it was like the first thing we did too
all together. Lyrically, it's basically a good introduction for the
band because it's a cool to represent.

Speaker 2 (06:43):
I would say, got it, No, that makes sense. So cool. So, okay,
so you're from South Side Israel? Is that where you
all live now? Or do you live in Los Angeles?

Speaker 3 (06:53):
And that's how you know?

Speaker 2 (06:54):
Dan?

Speaker 5 (06:54):
I'm just curious.

Speaker 7 (06:55):
We just moved to Los Angeles like last year. Okay,
now basically it's still south.

Speaker 2 (07:00):
Side, still south got it?

Speaker 5 (07:03):
Cool? All right?

Speaker 2 (07:04):
So you're based in LA and you've been a band.
So this this song came together? You said four years ago?
Is when this was written?

Speaker 6 (07:11):
Something like that, four or three years ago?

Speaker 3 (07:13):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (07:13):
Yeah, okay, okay cool? And then how long? How long
did so? How did the band come together? I mean
I get that, I think Danny I was saying that
Danny wrote the chorus to that originally and the rest
of it kind of wrote around it. But what was
the genesis of the band? Like where did that come from?
Like how'd you guys meet up and start this?

Speaker 7 (07:33):
It basically was like one of the first projects with
the band hot Box as a band, it exists like
in two versions of the band, like before I came
to the band and after I came. So basically, uh,
there was a moment that I just joined the band.

(07:55):
It was like I think months or something like that.

Speaker 6 (07:58):
Yeah, A month or two.

Speaker 7 (08:00):
Yeah, and so I came up with they send me
like a lot of demos of instrumentals, and I choose
few of them and I try to like bring some
courses and like to make them bangers, you know. And
that was one of the songs that they choose to

(08:21):
work on. After I send them back, the courses.

Speaker 2 (08:26):
Got it, got it right on. So is this then?

Speaker 3 (08:30):
Is this song?

Speaker 2 (08:31):
Has this song been released yet? Is it out there?

Speaker 6 (08:33):
Like?

Speaker 2 (08:34):
Can people go find it and buy it now?

Speaker 7 (08:36):
Yeah, it's part of the if our album legacy. Okay,
we released it on twenty twenty one. Okay, And yeah,
that's a pretty cool album. We have like twenty three
tracks in there in this album, and yeah, it's a
pretty sick album. Basically sounds like they're early to thousands.

(08:57):
That was the point of the album's legacy. And uh yeah,
and that Southside Boys is like, uh, I would say
it's the hit song of the album, one of the
hit songs.

Speaker 3 (09:12):
You can find them everywhere from Spotify to Apple Music
to everything else.

Speaker 6 (09:17):
YouTube, we have.

Speaker 3 (09:18):
We shot a video clip for this one too with
actually with a lot of fans that we just like
went on Instagram, and yeah, it was pretty random. Yeah,
we just shout like shout out to the stories saying, like,
everybody we should in a video clip show up in
this location.

Speaker 7 (09:33):
A lot of people showed up. They started wearing the idea.
Also the like how how we decide to shoot a
video clip for that song? That was like we didn't like,
uh what it was.

Speaker 6 (09:46):
It was in like a video invite. Yeah, we did
a video invite and we decided to make a video
clip out of it.

Speaker 7 (09:53):
Yeah. So the first the first scene of the video,
it's how the like car crashing me?

Speaker 3 (10:00):
Uh and uh.

Speaker 7 (10:02):
That was first of all. That was just like ads
for for some show, and then we decide to make
it like as a full video clip for Southside.

Speaker 2 (10:12):
Oh got it? So, I've heard it referenced a couple
different ways. I just want to make sure I got
it right. Is it south Side or south Side Boys?
What's the actual name of the song?

Speaker 7 (10:21):
Soide?

Speaker 2 (10:22):
South Side? Okay?

Speaker 7 (10:23):
Cool?

Speaker 2 (10:23):
And that's on the Legacy record that came out in
two thousand and one or twenty twenty one. My bad,
I'm in the wrong decade.

Speaker 7 (10:31):
But sounds pretty much.

Speaker 2 (10:32):
Yeah, sounds like but it sounds like it right. That's cool? Okay,
got it and so right, and now you're in Los Angeles.
How's it going in LA?

Speaker 5 (10:47):
So far?

Speaker 8 (10:48):
Oh fucking amazing.

Speaker 3 (10:49):
Yeah.

Speaker 8 (10:51):
Well, first of all, it's the closest that we ever
got to the industry, and we've been working for for
this our whole life, and finally we're working with people
who are legends and amazing and doing whatever they're No,
they're they've been doing their whole life and just amazing.

Speaker 2 (11:17):
No, that's great, that's great.

Speaker 7 (11:19):
Great.

Speaker 3 (11:21):
Well, basically dream to be in LA so, you know,
from coming out of the underground scene of Israel to
move to LA because we got signed in a booking
ages and not just like we randomly took a visa
and we moved here and then playing festivals we only
dreamed about and shows from underground shows. We kind of

(11:44):
started all over here, but with much more knowledge and
much more skills, so moving better and we, as Flip said,
we're closer to the to the plate now. So basically,
when we moved after less than a year, we played
two fists of us, which have like more than one
hundred thousand people with the biggest names in the metal industry,

(12:07):
from Distored or Core Cove, Slipno Cypress steal dude ever.

Speaker 7 (12:16):
Started the shows from Like Southsead was the first song
that Yeah.

Speaker 2 (12:20):
Yeah, that's cool right on. Well, good for you and
all the success you're having so far. I mean, that's
that's really awesome to hear. And Dan's great dude, So
I'm glad that that he's working with you all two.

Speaker 7 (12:33):
Yeah, cool, Like we're working on some cool, really cool stuff.
Also have like pretty soon like upcoming upcoming things.

Speaker 2 (12:43):
Well let's let's do that. So let's take a quick break.
We're gonna come back and uh and talk to the
guys and find out what they're working on next. All right,
everybody stay with us. All right, and we're back with
Skinny Danny and Flip from hot Box talking about the
song south Side. And hey guys again, thank you so
much for taking some time to talk with me today

(13:05):

you mentioned it earlier that you're working on a new
song and uh and in the studio right now with it.
So tell us about that, tell us what you can.

Speaker 7 (13:16):
Actually our manager and connect us to a really great
producer named Bob Marlette. He did like a lot of
big records like Montera, Ozzy Osbourne, a lot of like
big things in the industry, and uh, yeah, so basically
we're working on new material right now. We have like

(13:37):
a few things coming up. And also then connect us
to a pretty great guy who shot us a video
shout out.

Speaker 6 (13:47):
To Michael Michael Levin. Michael Levin.

Speaker 7 (13:52):
Yeah, and uh, basically, we we're working on some new material.
As I said d video clip, they're coming up, and
stay tuned, guys.

Speaker 2 (14:05):

release day for it yet? Do you have any other
information you can share with your fans that are listening.

Speaker 7 (14:13):
The name of the song is sad Boy. It's basically
a new version of hot Box. We try to reproduct
all of our style and make it likes more relevant

it's gonna sound pretty cool, pretty new, new school new metal.
