Speaker 1 (00:12):
Hello everyone, Greenies and Salientations. Welcome back to another episode
of the Back of the Pack podcast. I'm your host,
Kyle Walker. Thank you so much for tuning in. Technically
this is a second win episode, and technically, if you
haven't been following along, hopefully you have. It is our
two hundredth podcast episode.
Speaker 2 (00:28):
Woo hooray. If I had an applause button, I would
hit it.
Speaker 1 (00:33):
But I don't have an applause button, so I cannot
make it applod Oh.
Speaker 2 (00:36):
Well, hey, I.
Speaker 1 (00:38):
Don't know what in the world I'm supposed to say
for an episode like this. Did I ever think we'd
reach two hundred Oh?
Speaker 2 (00:44):
Hell no, I did not.
Speaker 1 (00:45):
Did I think people would give two flying duckies about
this podcast?
Speaker 2 (00:49):
No, I did not.
Speaker 1 (00:51):
I did this three and a half years ago because
I wanted to talk about running and I enjoyed doing
the podcast stuff.
Speaker 2 (00:57):
Did I think it would turn into what it is? Now?
Speaker 1 (00:59):
Absolutely no, Oh I did not. The fact that I
put an invite out for people to contribute to this
two hundredth episode, and every person I asked if they
were interested in doing it submitted something for this episode,
even people that I just put it out in the
entire world. You know, if anyone wants to do it.
There were people who took me up on that offer.
So again, three and a half years ago, if I
(01:20):
thought that was gonna happen, I would have said, oh ah,
double hockey sticks.
Speaker 3 (01:23):
No.
Speaker 1 (01:24):
So I don't really know what to say except I
am so thankful to everyone who has been a part
of this journey for however long you've been a part
of it. Whether you listen to the very first pilot episode,
and if you did, I am so sorry because I
am afraid to go back and listen to that pilot Dogdoo.
Speaker 2 (01:41):
There was no way that was any good.
Speaker 1 (01:43):
So if you started from episode one, you are a
freaking trooper, and I thank you so much. If you
are new to the back of the Pack podcast community,
maybe you're just coming in because you're following the Chasing
Rabbits running club. Now, thank you so much for even
giving us a look, see, giving us an opportunity, giving
us a listen a download of you, whatever your situation is,
(02:04):
even if you've only ever listened to one episode, I
thank you for contributing to that one episode and to
help get us here to this point of two hundred
podcast episodes. I told you guys previously, I had done
podcasts before. I did the Men's Post divorce podcast for
a while, and then I did just kind of overall
mental health. I think if you combined both of those
(02:25):
two things, we still didn't even get to two hundred episodes.
That was two different themes and ideas and stuff coming together.
We still never got to two hundred. We did here,
we had a pretty large Facebook community, but nothing like
the one that we have now. Our online community right
now is the absolute best. So everyone who's on the
Facebook page, thank you so much for all your contributions,
your likes, your shares, your comments, our banter are back
(02:49):
and forth, our sharing of information, all of it is
just freaking fantastic. And I am just so thankful for
everyone who contributes in any way, shape or form. I
know that for this whole month, I have been doing
episodes just talking about how thankful I am and name
dropping people in this, that and the other. And you know,
I'm sorry, I'm not sorry. I am just super glad
(03:10):
to be a part of your world in whatever capacity
I fit in there. So I just wanted to share
that with you all that don't I trust me I
don't take it lightly that you guys choose to invest
even four minutes of your day to check out the
first four minutes of the podcast and see if it's
something you care about listening to that week. Again, I
thank you, I thank you all so very much. So
(03:30):
what we're gonna do is tonight is the well as
I record. Just letting me know right now, I just
outed myself. I'm recording this the day before it airs. Tonight,
we have our first running of the Chasing Rabbits Running Club.
I am so excited about this. I'm sure you've heard
by now what we're doing. We're meeting at Discourse Brewery
in Overland Park, Kansas. You can call it a running club.
(03:52):
You can call it a group run. You can call
it a brewer crew run. You can call it whatever
you want. Trust me, there is no there is no
pressure to enjoying the adult beverage before or after you run.
This can just be a group thing for you if
that's what you prefer. The folks at Discourse are they're offering,
definitely offering. I can't talk today. How have I done
this two hundred times? They're offering a dollar off your
(04:14):
first poor if you're there for the Run Club tonight,
so I can let you know that that's going to
be a thing. So if you want to come and
have a relatively cheap drink after your run, there you go. Hey, beautiful,
and if you want a water, then absolutely have a
water as well. I am so excited for this event. Again,
let me reiterate, because people have asked clearly they're not
watching episodes, and that's fine.
Speaker 2 (04:32):
Nobody's perfect. People have asked, well, what if what if
you know?
Speaker 1 (04:37):
I was a runner a million years ago. I don't
run anymore, but I'd like to come out. I'd like
to do this, but I'm afraid to be left behind.
Speaker 2 (04:43):
Again.
Speaker 1 (04:43):
The whole point of this club there is nobody left behind, nobody.
I do not care how slow you walk. You can run,
you can walk, you can run, walk, you can do
whatever you need to do to get your three miles.
You will not be left behind. You will not be
the last one, because I am I am always last.
Right now, I did see that in the future we're
(05:04):
gonna have to pass the honorary Turtleshell onto someone else
because there's gonna be a week I have to miss
the gasp when I'm off to Mississippi, but we'll cross
that bridge when we get there. But trust me, you
will never be left alone on the course. There's always
gonna be someone behind you, and it is always gonna
be me and whoever's walking with me. All right, So
if you want to go out on a run, but
you know you're gonna kind of crash after a mile
(05:26):
and a half and people are gonna catch up, you fine,
get your mile and a half in when we catch
up with you. If we do, we'll just shoot the
breeze the rest of the way. So please don't ever
worry about it. You will never be left behind.
Speaker 2 (05:36):
Never. That is the whole point.
Speaker 1 (05:39):
I would not do a run group unless I knew
that people were not getting left in the dust. And
I know they're not getting left in the dust because
I am the dust and I ain't gonna leave you.
So I'm excited if you if you can't tell anyway
to all those who are recorded and submitted for this episode,
and I'm about to kick it to them all right now,
(06:00):
thank you all so much. All right, I'm not gonna
try and name you all right now, because I'll forget
someone and then I'll feel like dog you do. You
all will now get to roll through and see all
the video submissions that we got that I thought were
super cool. And then at the end of the last one,
we're just gonna kick guitar our oultro music, and we're
gonna be done. I'm not coming back to say any
more words because I will just be regurgitating the stuff
(06:20):
I'm telling you right now. But thank you all so
much for two hundred episodes three and a half years.
I cannot wait. Let's do another three and a half years.
Let's do another two hundred episodes. Let's just keep this
baby on rolling, because as long as you all enjoy
it and my knees hold up, I'm gonna keep on
doing it. When we stop enjoying it, I will right
(06:40):
off into the sunset, or maybe just kind of wheelchair
off in the sunset, because I'll probably have no legs
at that point.
Speaker 2 (06:46):
So anyway, thank you all so much. Thank you for
the submissions.
Speaker 1 (06:49):
Everyone enjoy and we'll see you on the next two
hundred Hey Kyle.
Speaker 4 (06:55):
Hey, back of the Pack podcast listeners. My name is
Chelsea and I am with Pink Roll Events and the
Good Life have you. I am so glad that you
guys reached out to me to ask to make a
video for your two hundredth episode.
Speaker 5 (07:08):
Two hundred episodes.
Speaker 4 (07:09):
Is crazily amazing. When I was thinking to myself of
where I should go to video this, I thought, how
about some of my favorite spots on the Good Life
Have the Course. So just a couple of months from
now this will be the start line. I just have
to say, happy two hundredth episode. That's two hundred episodes
of race recaps, ridiculous stories and tales from back of
(07:31):
the pack. I've been a longtime fan of the podcast,
and I would have to say one of my favorite
things is how real you make it? You tell us
about the good days? Do you tell us about the
bad days? You celebrate everybody, every pace, every race. Naturally,
my favorite episode has to be one of your Good
Life Have the Recaps. I mean, come on, it's your
(07:53):
favorite half marathon and obviously mine as well. There is
nothing better than hearing from a real runner talking about
their HAVESI experience straight from the course. I especially love
that you set your r on our course.
Speaker 5 (08:07):
That is the good life right there.
Speaker 4 (08:09):
I'm so glad that we met at the expo. What
was it three years ago.
Speaker 3 (08:13):
Now.
Speaker 4 (08:13):
Anyways, it's always fun to bump into you, whether it
be an expo here in Nebraska or one of the
many ones down in Kansas City that we've seen you at.
It's always good to hear what race you just recently completed,
or what other adventure you're currently going on. I especially
appreciate all the trial recommendations you gave me and my
husband when we were down there in Kansas City.
Speaker 5 (08:32):
This summer.
Speaker 4 (08:34):
I do hope to lace up my shoes and join
you at a race this year. I will be listening
for recommendations. Speaking of races, I have to give a
pitch to the Good Life Havesie. I hope you have
enjoyed seeing all of my favorite spots on the course today.
Registration for the Good Life Havesi is open now. We
currently are the largest Havesie in history and we're still growing.
Speaker 5 (08:57):
When you register, be sure to join.
Speaker 4 (08:59):
The back of the pack pot Cast team so you
get all the discounts, perks, swag, etc.
Speaker 5 (09:04):
Plus Kyle would love to have you. So here's to two.
Speaker 4 (09:07):
Hundred episodes of awesome. Thank you for keeping it real
fun and giving us a reason to lace up. I
will see you at the finish line very soon begassy
energy baby.
Speaker 1 (09:29):
Hey Kyle, congrats on two hundred episodes from Oklahoma to
Kansas City.
Speaker 5 (09:34):
You did it your way, just like Frank Sinatra.
Speaker 2 (09:36):
Here's the two hundred more.
Speaker 6 (09:37):
Buddy, Hello Kyle, and back of the packers. It is Karen,
your resident exercise science nerd, here to say congratulations on
two hundred episodes. That is truly something to be proud of,
and as is my habit, I am here to fact
you again, but this time with a little podcast knowledge.
Speaker 3 (09:57):
Did you know that.
Speaker 6 (09:58):
There are four zero point five million podcasts available around
the world, and over four hundred and eighty thousand new
podcasts were launched just last month. That's astonishing. I guess
they really mean it when they say everybody and their
brother has a podcast. But of all of those podcasts
(10:20):
that launch every single year, only one hundred and fifty
six thousand of them actively dropped an episode last week,
So there's probably only about four hundred thousand that are
actively recording right now. So you've obviously got that part
down now. Of all of the podcasts that have been started,
forty four percent of them don't make it past episode three.
(10:45):
In fact, only one percent of podcasts make it past
twenty one episodes, so I think you have blown that
one out of the water. And I know you've been
trying to hit that elusive one thousand downloads per episode
number you mentioned did in an episode not that long ago.
Let me tell you, my friend, only half of all
(11:06):
of the episodes published last week we'll get more than
twenty seven downloads in the first seven days. That means
you're already in the top fifty percent. Now, if you
get one hundred and twenty listens in that first week,
you are in the top twenty five percent. That's pretty
stink and good. You may have to change the name
(11:27):
of the podcast from back of the pack to top
twenty five I don't know. What I do know is
that when you do hit that one thousand download number,
you will be in the top five percent of all
active podcasts. But as a back of the packer, you
know it's not about the numbers, although they can feel good.
(11:47):
You get tons of engagements from your listeners. You shout
out races, you have created a community, and isn't that
the point. Congratulations on two hundred episodes, Kyle, and here's
to dare I say at two hundred more see you
on the run.
Speaker 5 (12:25):
Well are here today?
Speaker 7 (12:26):
Thank you all for coming to today's episode of Back
of the Pack podcast. It is our two hundredth episode,
two hundreds.
Speaker 8 (12:39):
Neither of us are Kyle Walker, as you can tell,
but Kyle's pretty awesome and we just wanted to jump
on the microphone and delay the start because we know
how much he loves.
Speaker 7 (12:51):
That and we just want to talk about how much
Back of the Pack Podcast means to us. So, Gretchen,
what's your favorite thing that you've heard from Kyle, whether
or not it's from him in real life or from
him on the on the podcast.
Speaker 5 (13:05):
You know, I be like, there's not.
Speaker 9 (13:07):
Just one moment I really sum up Kyle. But I
think for me, it's just like the way that he
celebrates the Back of the Pack runners, and like he
doesn't carry your face. He loves all runners and that's
just awesome and I just love to hear him like
celebrating that episode after episode, and of course when we
joined him in Kansas City as well a little fun.
Speaker 7 (13:26):
Yeah, and I mean when he made the trip out
up to Saint Louis as well for the mo cow
Bell that was so much fun.
Speaker 9 (13:32):
Yeah, I love hosting, co hosting. I guess that episode
with him.
Speaker 7 (13:35):
Yeah, well, you know, it's been about nine years since
he survived his uh two open heart surgeries, So congratulations
hit to Kyle for that as well.
Speaker 9 (13:48):
Uh.
Speaker 7 (13:48):
In addition, I mean one of my favorite episodes of
Kyle is listening to when he went down for the
Too Slow for Boston Marathon. That's my favorite Kyle Walker
episode ever. For the first time, I was anticipating that
I was listening to all these turn by turns for
five K's I will never ever run. I just always
(14:10):
feel like I'm running with him.
Speaker 9 (14:12):
You really do like turn by turn running with him exactly.
Speaker 7 (14:16):
Every time I talk to people in the running community,
I just want to tell.
Speaker 5 (14:19):
Them about backupack podcasts. So that's it.
Speaker 9 (14:23):
We're really just super excited for you, Kyle and love
being a part of the podcast and hope we can
continue past two hundred episodes.
Speaker 5 (14:32):
Woo, thank you so much, Kyle. So ready, three, two
one go.
Speaker 3 (14:45):
Hey y'all, Lisa from behind the BIB here coming to
you straight from Huntsville, Alabama. I just wanted to take
a moment and wish Kyle Walker I congratulations on your
two hundredth episode, Kyle, congratulations. I first started listening to you.
It's been a couple of years. Me and my running buddy.
(15:05):
We're training for our first marathon, and we're out there
and we got tired of listening to music and things
get really quiet, and we got into a conversation about
imposter syndrome somehow, and so I got on Apple Podcasts
or Spotify. I can't remember which one at this point,
and I just like looked up imposter syndrome. In that
(15:27):
episode where you're talking about imposter syndrome, we listen to it,
and I have been listening to you ever since. The
one thing that I love the most about Back of
the Pack and especially you, Kyle, how you come across
You are so incredibly authentic. You don't pose, you don't
(15:50):
try to be somebody you're not. And that's one of
the reasons why I look up to you so much.
It takes so much courage and so much bravery to
show up in the world the way that you show up,
and I appreciate the work that you do so very much.
When you're taking up space back here at the back
(16:11):
of the Pack, and I know, like you're not even
you're not even really backpack, but you're taking up space
for people that deserve the opportunity to run and to
finish and to reap all of these wonderful benefits that
you can get from running. And it's because you're out
(16:32):
there and you are just putting it all out there.
You are so one hundred percent authentic. You are nobody
but yourself, and I admire that greatly. I hope to
be you when I grow up. That would be weird
because also I'm older than you and you're a gut Okay,
let's not do that anyway, Kyle, Congratulations on your two
(16:54):
hundredth episode. I cannot wait to listen to two hundred more.
Oh Runner's World Think. Congratulations on the Runners World Think.
See you're showing up, You're doing the things, and it's
just awesome. And I'm so proud of you. I'm so
proud of the work that you're doing, and I'm so
proud to call myself at back of the packer. Congratulations
(17:17):
on your two hundredth episode, and I cannot wait to
listen to two hundred more. See y'all later. So I
know I've been giving you hell about how Ohio is
the whole southern state thing, which obviously it's not meant
to have any ill intent. I look up to you
(17:39):
one hundred percent, and I'm so grateful for everything that
you've done for me, for meeting with me, for telling
me about the podcast how to get started. You've been
so supportive. So I hope you're not taking it as
like my god once you shut up about the Ohio
and shit, so hopefully it's not. Hopefully that's not happening.
I'm just having fun with it. I thought it was
hilarious and I continue to think it's hilarious, and so
(18:02):
I've put together a little video for you. Hopefully you enjoy.
All right again, congratulations two hundred episode, you rock. That's awesome.
Speaker 10 (18:13):
Hey, y'all, I'm here in Rockett City and we are
here tonight asking people a really important question, And the
question is is Ohio a northern or southern state.
Speaker 5 (18:25):
Let's see what everybody says, Ohio and northern or southern state? Northern? Okay?
Is it Ohio a northern or southern state? Oh It's
absolutely a northern state, northern state. Okay. It's Ohio a
northern or southern state. Northern, northern, Okay is Ohio and
northern or southern state, Northern, northern Okay, Okay, it's Ohio
(18:49):
and northern or southern state.
Speaker 1 (18:51):
I'd actually say neither, but if I have to pick one,
I'll say northern.
Speaker 5 (18:56):
Is Ohio and northern or southern state. Northern, Northern. It's
Ohio and northern or southern state.
Speaker 11 (19:02):
Northern.
Speaker 5 (19:03):
It's Ohio and northern or southern state. Northern Ohio and
northern or southern state. I would say northern, all right.
It's Ohio and northern or southern state. Northern, it's Ohio
and northern and southern state.
Speaker 2 (19:17):
Northern, Northern.
Speaker 5 (19:20):
It's Ohio and northern or southern state. They have snow
the north. That's awesome. Ohio and northern or southern state.
Northern Ohio and northern or southern state. Ohio is nowhere
close to the south. Okay. It's Ohio and northern or
southern state. North norther all right, all right, it's Ohio
(19:41):

Ohio and northern or southern state. Definitely northern. Northern. Okay

northern state by far, no doubt about it. Okay. It's
Ohio northern southern state, state, northern state. Okay, it's Ohio
and northern.
Speaker 10 (20:16):
Or southern state.
Speaker 5 (20:17):
Ohio is one of the worst states, but it's Okay.
It's Ohio and northern or southern state. Ohio is a
northern state. Okay, thank you.
Speaker 8 (20:28):
All right.
Speaker 5 (20:29):
It's Ohio and northern or southern state northern Okay, all right,
Miley is Ohio and northern or southern state, northern, northern, Okay,
thank you. It's Ohio and northern or southern state. Ohio
is a northern okay, all right, thank you, Okay, okay,
all right. It's Ohio northern or southern state. Ohio is
(20:50):
definitely a northern state, not a southern state. A southern
I'm really country. I feel like if they have snow plows,
it's not yeah, exactly, if you're equipped to be able
to snow, it's not southern. Okay, awesome, thank you. Is
Ohio and northern or southern state.
Speaker 2 (21:07):
Ohio is a northern state.
Speaker 12 (21:08):
Northern don't have sweet tea, they have snowplows, and they
don't have accents.
Speaker 5 (21:13):
That's right, that's true. Okay, thank you Ohio and northern
or southern state. I have very strong feelings about this.
Speaker 12 (21:20):
First of all, Cincinnati chili smells like Mahma, and Ohio
is a northern state.
Speaker 5 (21:28):
Thanks.
Speaker 12 (21:28):
Well, there you have it.
Speaker 3 (21:34):
We have a consensus and the voting was definitely unanimous.
Speaker 11 (21:38):
Ohio is a northern state.
Speaker 3 (21:41):
No. Seriously, Kyle, congratulations on your two hundredth episode.
Speaker 5 (21:46):
You've done a fantastic.
Speaker 3 (21:47):
Job on all two hundred and I cannot wait to
listen to two hundred more.
Speaker 11 (21:54):
Take care, see y'all later. Hello and KYO is say
greetings and salutations.
Speaker 13 (22:02):
My name is Amy Banois and I am a Patreon
member at the marathon level. I live in Saint Louis, Missouri,
and I also have the distinct pleasure of being the
one to introduce Back of the Pack podcast to Happy
Pace Podcasts.
Speaker 11 (22:18):
There's been some great collaboration between the two and I
hope it continues.
Speaker 13 (22:23):
I first met Kyle and the Back of the Pack
podcast in a Little Rock in March of twenty twenty four.
I have a confession to make. I was at the
expo on Friday. I saw Kyle's table and I walked
right past him.
Speaker 14 (22:38):
Boo.
Speaker 13 (22:39):
My husband came on Friday night. We went to the
expo on Saturday, and as we were walking through the expo,
my husband said, Amy, you should come talk to this guy.
I didn't really want to, but I did so. I
talked to Kyle and he gave this lovely back of
the pack card to me, and he told me his
website was more about medals and T shirts and swag
(23:03):
as opposed.
Speaker 11 (23:04):
To VO two Max, and I thought, Okay, I'll give
this guy a try.
Speaker 13 (23:08):
I went home, I listened to all the episodes and
just really just really enjoyed it. My favorite episode had
to be when Kyle talked about his first and.
Speaker 11 (23:21):
Probably last Triathlone.
Speaker 13 (23:23):
I was laughing so hard. And a side plug. If
you think his verbal race reviews are funny, everyone needs
to subscribe to Patreon because his written race reviews are
even funnier. Kyle, congrats on two hundred episodes. I hope
you have two hundred plus more to go. One of
these days, I hope to get to Saint Louis to
(23:43):
join all of the Back of the packers, and thanks
for making the mistakes so we don't have to and
keep on doing a good job.
Speaker 8 (23:51):
Thank you.
Speaker 2 (23:51):
Bye.
Speaker 12 (23:55):
So Kyle, Hey, congratulations on two hundred episodes. Dude, loved
every single one of them. Here's to two hundred more
and so many more racist features.
Speaker 15 (24:06):
Yay, Wow, guys, two hundred episodes of the Back of
the Pack podcast. What an awesome milestone. I have not
been a new runner in a very long time, but
after my second child was born, I slowed down a
ton and it took multiple years before I was back
to where I was before that pregnancy, and that is
(24:27):
a place that can honestly be pretty discouraging for a
veteran runner. I don't remember exactly when I discovered the
Back of the Pack podcast for the first time, but
it was at some point in my own Back of
the Pack era, and from the beginning I have loved
how candid Kyle is with these struggles and triumphs that
every runner experiences at some point, but also his focus
(24:51):
on the unique perspective of being a slower runner. Kyle
was one of the first podcast hosts to ever invite
me to a guest on his show, and honestly, that
experience was one of the first times that I ever
considered starting my own podcast. I was a guest on
the Back of the Pack pod a few more times
over the last couple of years, and when I launched
(25:14):
my own podcast today in running history, Kyle has been
super supportive, which has been awesome. And something fun recently
that I had was that I had a very special
pod seption episode of my podcast where Kyle joined and
we talked all about American sprinter Carl Lewis and his
(25:35):
career as both an Olympian.
Speaker 5 (25:37):
And a and a pop star.
Speaker 15 (25:41):
But anyways, it has been so great to be along
for the ride as a listener and occasional guest and
as a friend. Congrats Kyle, and cheers to two hundred
more episodes of the Back of the Pack podcast.
Speaker 14 (25:57):
This thing on, k oh, Well, look there, I am
right here in my house. Well, hi, I'm I'm the
Casey cosplay runner. And oh boy, I hear that the
two hundredth episode of this pod, crap crass podcast, it's
(26:18):
the Back of the Pack podcast is coming up on
its two hundredth episode, and yeah, that's a lot of
that's a lot of episodes. I believe I've listened to
all of them, but you know, my memory is not
always what it was. So anyway, it got me to thinking,
instead of sharing about podcast episodes that I may have
(26:38):
listened to, may not have listened to, wouldn't try to
tell you what any of them were. I do know
that I have evidence in my collection. I don't know
about all the digitals and the clouds and whatnot. But
I was going through one of my little boxes of
photos and decided that I would like to pull out
a few of the costumes that worn in the last
(27:02):
couple of years as the Cacy Tolas play runner and
along the way share a little bit of advice about
each one. So the first one is from twenty twenty
three Hospital Hill run. I was celebrating the Swedish super
group Abba got the disco ish and a pantsuit and
(27:23):
I wish I could have gone a little bit more blonde,
but this is what I had, and you know, it
was a little hot. I had a neck fan and
you know, people always try to to say, hey, how
are you, and then they guess and try to identify me,
and my gosh, people call me Elvis a lot with
this costume.
Speaker 2 (27:43):
I don't know what was going on.
Speaker 14 (27:45):
I don't think Elvis ever looked like that at all.
But you know, sometimes Kyle, people are just not going
to understand what you're doing, why you're doing it, and
that's okay. And also, this is a costume that I
have not kept. I ended up having an issue where
(28:05):
it caused me to bleed where some of the seams
were coming together, and so I decided I had worn
it once in a race, once on my own, and
I had to let it go. And sometimes things don't
work quite the way you want, and don't feel like
you have to keep doing it just because you've started.
Do what works, do what makes people happy, what makes
(28:28):
you happy. But if something isn't working, don't be afraid
to let go. Another one this one, and by the way,
that was the ABBA one. That was my two hundredth
race that I ever ran, not always in costume, of course,
the two hundredth time that I wore a unique costume,
so not counting all the rewars. This one was in
(28:53):
May of twenty four. This was a kind of a
nod to the case state. Sorry for those of you
that are Jayhawks and all. But this was a recollection
of the country songs that shaped the time that I
lived in what I consider my hometown of Manhattan, Kansas.
(29:15):
And so from that I say, always wear the short shorts,
just kidding. If you want to, that's fine, but always
remember where you came from. That's my message from this one.
This next one here is from twenty twenty two. This
is the two hundredth time I wore a costume of
any kind, even counting the rewars, And this is the
(29:37):
one that I think was on your mind when I
first appeared in your podcast audio only at the time,
but apparently this costume must have made a pretty strong
impression on you if you would remember that among all
the other ones that you might have seen me in.
(29:58):
And you know, if you can't make a good first impression,
at least make a strong impression. And another thing that
tickles me is that a lot of the people in
this photo I didn't know it all then, and some
of them I now count as among my dearest run
friends and family. So cheers to that. And then the
(30:21):
last one, this one here is from Social Distance Sunday
number two hundred. That was from January of twenty four.
I ended up having to repeat this costume because the
course that I tried to lay out for a solo
run just didn't work out. It was too icy and
I didn't want to put myself at risk, so I
(30:43):
started over the following day, went somewhere totally different. Don't
be afraid to go it alone if that's what it takes,
if you have to try again, it's always worth it.
So congrats, gratulations, Kyle, Congratulations audience for getting us to
(31:03):
this point, and I will see you at the next run.
You can guarantee that I will be something different than
I've ever been before.
Speaker 13 (31:11):
Have a good day.
Speaker 2 (31:13):
Let's see how I do this here
