(00:00):
What's up? Everyone. Welcome toanother edition of There AND's Thoughts. When
it's There and Chatty. These aremy thoughts. Hope you guys are doing
well. Happy Thursday people. I'mdoing fantastic as always, you know.
Just I'm trying to work. Ithink what you do daily defines who you

(00:22):
are. But I think we allknow that. So I try to write
a lot of the days. Andyesterday I just, um, you know,
I finished this book which I wasworking on. It was about taking
care of my mom. It's pastyear and a half I was with my

(00:45):
mom, and so I wrote abook about it and I finished it and
I was so happy. I thoughtI finished it, and I was so
it was such a relief to finishit. I just went out. I
was like, I want to dosome shopping therapy. I just went to
the Century Steady model and walked aroundfor the day. And you need those
days just to just you know, take a moment to appreciate your accomplishments,

(01:11):
because otherwise they just stack up oneafter the next and you don't really see
much reward and show base sometimes,so you gotta, you know, treat
yourself. So for me, treatingmyself was just you know, taking a
break and walking around some time tomyself without having to go to the gym
or something. But I was atthe improv a few days ago, just

(01:36):
spur of the moment. I waslet me stop by the improv and David
Tell was there. He was inthe main room and I was in that
bar. And David Tell was ahuge influence on me. Like I remember
watching him when I was in highschool or something, and just he was

(01:59):
just to stand up. He wasjust so funny his jokes and there was
something about it that just pulled mein stand up to the point where like
I would watch everything about it.And this is before in Zombi Act,
before he got really famous. Iwas just a huge Devittel fan. One
thing I think I gave myself creditfor is I was able to see guys

(02:21):
before they got famous. Like evenChappelle. Remember watching him when he was
in his early early twenties and Iwas like, who is this guy?
You know just something about like goodcomics, you know, they stand out.
I don't know if I have thatability anymore because there's so many podcasters
and you know, crap on stage. But you know, back when I

(02:42):
was in high school, I coulddefinitely see good stand ups, and this
is when I didn't know anything aboutcomedy anyways. So I heard he went
to NYU, and I put thatschool on my radar and actually went to
NYU. Him and Adam Sandler bothhuge influences of mine. So yesterday after

(03:09):
the show, he was taking pictureswith his fans outside and I just pretended
I saw the show and I methim a few times before, but he
never knows who I am, doesn'tremember as why would he. I went
on by this joke. I wasworking the door at the Boston Comedy Club
like twenty five years ago or something, and he was there and I had

(03:30):
this joke and I was like,Dave, can you help me with this
joke? And he helped me rewriteit. I was like, the joke
was I've lived in a bad neighborhood. I got robbed twice by the same
guy, like, hey, giveme your wallet. I'm like, you
have my wallet, you have myjacket and my bandana or whatever, though
my watch. And I was like, Dave, I can't really get it.
Still work too well, And rememberhim listening to the joke and then

(03:51):
he was like, yeah, Itry to act it out, and he
was actually right, like a littlesimple movement of like pretending like a finger
gun or whatever, like really indifferencein the joke. So I got to
meet Dave Mattel again last night, got to meet him agin and I was
like, oh, we've a mutualfriend. I know, one of his

(04:13):
good friends. But the point ofthe story was just remember just standing in
front of him, and he's justlike this guy who's like, you know,
must be like five three or something, this little tiny guy, the
meeting of guy. And I waslike, man, this guy was such
a huge influence on me. Andhere I am standing next to him,
you know, just just you know, occupying the same space and time as

(04:41):
him. And there's something to besaid about meeting your idols, because I
was like, you know, hedoesn't he doesn't look like the most healthiest
guy. I'm always like, Iwonder how long this guy is gonna last
on this earth. He's always smokinga cigarette or something. And I got
to meet Adam Sandler a few times, and I got to meet Ben Steller,

(05:01):
another huge influence of mine coming up. And you know, I feel,
in that regard very lucky because howmany people get to meet. You
know, there were childhood heroes, and you know, I just I took
a photo of Dave and I puton my Instagram, and you know,

(05:21):
that was it. That was it. Like I always thought, you know,
I always thought like I would havea career like davidtel like stand up
wise, I was like, oh, you know he was. He's such
an influence of just joke writing. It's an effusive joke writer. So I

(05:42):
don't know, I kind of gotI wasn't sad about it, but I
was like, just just I'm sorrythe awning, I'm so tired in the
morning. It was just one ofthose moments where I was like, um,
profound moments where you get to meetsomebody who just you know, changes

(06:02):
and alters the complete direction of yourlife. I hope you guys have a
great day. We'll talk soon.Take care.
