(00:00):
Welcome a Baseball Discourse with your hostDan Lavallo. Hi, everybody, it
is the return of Baseball Discourse,my podcast which I've had for numerous years

(00:26):
under numerous names, Baseball on theFly, the Baseball Podcast, Baseball Dispatch,
and then I renamed it yet againas Baseball Discourse, and Baseball Discourse
is back after a hiatus. Letme give you a little bit of our
background and what we are attempting todo. I have been broadcasting professional baseball

(00:49):
games since nineteen eighty three and beforethat a lot of amateur baseball games as
a sports director of a local radiostation. And during that time we're talking
about now over fifty years, Ihave interviewed numerous people from Hall of Fame
baseball players to current baseball players, and over the fifty plus years, I

(01:11):
have saved those interviews, and sowhat I'm attempting to do in reviving Baseball
Discourse is to upload the interviews, upload the interviews on the various podcast platforms,
and also putting it on my YouTubechannel. Additionally, I'm going to

(01:32):
add even more content by interviewing baseballpeople, broadcasters, those associated with the
game who are currently in the game, and that will also be uploaded both
on my YouTube channel and also inpodcast form. So to get all of
this, go to Baseball Discourse dotcom. All of the information is there,

(01:56):
including how you can contact me Baseballdisc course dot com, and you
can subscribe to the podcast in allof the major podcast directories. I hope
you enjoy the podcast. I hopeyou enjoy the videos. I hope that
the interviews serve a purpose, particularlythose that were recorded years ago with the

(02:16):
likes of Willie May's, Mickey Mantle, Yogi Berra. Maybe it helps some
researchers and nothing else. Hopefully youget some entertainment out of it. One
other note, as I mentioned, this podcast had different names over the years,
the Baseball Podcast, Baseball on theFly, Baseball Dispatch, before finally

(02:37):
settling on Baseball Discourse. In somecases, when I upload the files from
these interviews, you're going to hearme refer to the podcast under its old
name. I'm going to try toreduce some of the podcasts so that they
will be introed as Baseball Discourse. But if you hear the old name,

(03:01):
I just was not able to redothat part of the file, just to
give you a heads up. Finally, I am recording this initial podcast,
this first episode of the revival ofBaseball Discourse, on a Hio microphone.
Bob Hile passed away as I recordthis podcast on March the first. He

(03:25):
was an innovator, did a superbjob as far as inventing so many things,
including the Hile microphone. This isa HIOPR forty, one of the
classic microphones, and so I thoughtI would record this episode on a Hio

(03:45):
microphone in tribute to the late BobHeile. May he rest in peace again.
Thanks for listening and for subscribing toBaseball Discourse again. The website is

CrimeLess: Hillbilly Heist

CrimeLess: Hillbilly Heist

It’s 1996 in rural North Carolina, and an oddball crew makes history when they pull off America’s third largest cash heist. But it’s all downhill from there. Join host Johnny Knoxville as he unspools a wild and woolly tale about a group of regular ‘ol folks who risked it all for a chance at a better life. CrimeLess: Hillbilly Heist answers the question: what would you do with 17.3 million dollars? The answer includes diamond rings, mansions, velvet Elvis paintings, plus a run for the border, murder-for-hire-plots, and FBI busts.
