Speaker 1 (00:02):
That's right, ladies and gentlemen, purple positivity with your host
justin extra, I am justin extra him. I am the
purple purveyor of positivity, and it is very easy to
purvey purple positivity right now purple tinted glasses, as your
Vikings are eleven and two. That's right, ladies and gentlemen,
eleven and two. Who in the world thought the Vikes

(00:27):
would be eleven and two at this juncture? Also, who
would have thought this is probably gonna be their toughest
stretch of games now, all of a sudden, within the
division tough three game stretch, four game stretch, depending on
how things shape up. Let's just talk about the last game,
shall we. The Kirk Cousins ball comes in. I was afraid,

(00:53):
like I knew Kirk Cousins was gonna get some numbers.
I predicted that he was still gonna do Kirk Cousins thing,
or a Cousin's cousin Kirk things. I should say, a
couple interceptions, maybe a fumble is what I was thinking. However,
I did not expect the Vikes to just open up
the fourth quarter can of wool ass, just absolute woof ass,

(01:20):
and do people still say opening a can of whoop
ass or I'm not sure. I'm old and crusty as fuck,
but I still like that saying they open it up
like that is the reason as to why the Vikings
got Kevin O'Connell, because they thought for sure he was
gonna be one of those guys that stepped on the gas.

(01:43):
Stepped on the gas with the can of wood ass.
There's a T shirt, there's a poster, whatever the fuck
you wanted to be. That's it. They opened it up,
and I told you that Justin Jefferson was going to
get on the score sheet. I even predicted that not
only would he get one, but a possibility at two touchdowns.

(02:07):
I did predict that the Vikings were going to get
five sacks. That did not happen. But that's the thing.
You can't always be right all the time, like you
just can't be But what is right right now is
the fact that the Vikes are eleven and two, and
here come the doubters again, as always, I mean rightfully.

(02:32):
So it's very easy to doubt the Purple and Gold
because we're the greatest franchise to never win a Super Bowl.
That's what it is. That's literally what it is. They're
the highest winning percentage in the NFL history without a

(02:52):
dog one Super Bowl. So people aren't going to doubt
until a team finally shuts them up. Shuts them up.
That's what I'm hoping from, maybe not this squad, but
a squad in a couple of years. And lo and behold,
Vikes are sitting at that five seed. Kind of sucks

(03:13):
that the Lions are unstoppable right now, but there is
some chinks in that armor. There's a few scratches that
could be a good turn into ust. Let's hope for that.
Vikings found themselves in a little bit of a dog fight.
It was twenty one twenty one at one time, and
then they ended up doubling them up twenty one, and

(03:35):
I answered after that, fantastic. I absolutely loved what I'm seeing.
I love what I'm seeing out of this offense, especially
with see Oliver was in there, but he wasn't the
Oliver that we are used to seeing. I think that
just helps the red zone just a little bit more.

(03:58):
Aaron Jones, He's not exactly one hundred percent right right now.
He's not, but the offense is doing just enough without
even effectively being able to run the ball. They're just
throwing it all over the place big time. Third donkn
versions by Sam Donald. That touchdown where Justin Jefferson got

(04:20):
wide open, that was Sam Donald's touchdown. I'm telling you
right now. He escapes the pocket, there's three guys closing
around him, he goes left, goes right, rolls on the run,
throws it, and Justin Jefferson just kind of prances into
the end zone backwards. And that, I mean, for all
intensive purposes, that was your game that I can't believe

(04:44):
what I'm seeing out of Sam Donald. And should he
be in the conversation of MVP, Yes, yes he should,
because this is a team where Vegas had them at
seven and a half, seven and a half the over under. Ah,
I'm no math wizard, but eleven with four games to go,

(05:07):
seems to be a lot higher than seven and a half.
So hats off to Donald, Hats off to Kevin O'Connell,
where there's we're starting to see a few good things
that he's doing at the end of games, like he's
making things a little easier for his offense, and sometimes

(05:29):
he's using those timeouts when the defense needs him, like
we saw a couple of weeks ago where to make
sure that you have Jonathan Garnard out there, healthy and
happy and not sucking gas. Because Grenard, man, he's got
it was he have ten sacks, whatever it is, he's
third or fourth in sacks right now. Man, those defense,

(05:52):
those guys that they went out and got for the defense, fantastic.
There's three or four of from just awesome. I need
PJ two back in there. Pat Jones a second. I
need him back in that defense up that middle. He
just helps a little bit. Moore. You can't get a
lot of pressure up the middle right now without him.
It just seems like they were trying to find the

(06:15):
right combination and trying to throw some guys in the
middle that aren't used to coming, you know, running through
the middle instead of on the outside. But hey, defense,
Ryan Flores, he's figuring it out. He's he's got the
personnel finally, and now he has the Bears. The Bears
are real and man, like five weeks ago, you're like,

(06:38):
holy shit, the Bears are tough too. This sucks. Well.
Is it gonna be super easy this week? No? I
don't think so. I don't think it's gonna be all
that easy. Vikes are gonna be in a dog fight
for at least two and a half three quarters. I
guarantee it, just the way it goes. The Bears are
they don't have a lot to play for right now,

(07:00):
you got pride, or you're tanking for another number one
overall pick. I'm not sure, but right now I don't
think they'll get that number one overall pick. They'd have
to really really tank. They're not that terrible of a team.
I think the Vikes are only favored by six, and

(07:20):
after just whooping up on the Falcons, I would have
thought they were gonna be favored by for sure six
easily at the start. So right now six is what
it is, and six is a lot. I mean that
full touchdown, that's your home. So you're only getting three

(07:42):
three and a half extra for having whatever it is.
I think the Vikes are in for a little bit
of a battle. Do I like even saying that? No?
I would love to be like, no, No, they're gonna
they're gonna bootstop them the late Monday night game or
I think they're the early of the two Monday night games. Actually,
my two favorite teams are playing on Monday Night Vikes

(08:03):
and Raiders. Man, Vikes, I think right now they're hot,
and they gave the NFL, the NFC in particular, something
to kind of think about. If you want to be
into that second tier and kind of knocking on the
door on the top tier, you got to come through

(08:24):
the NFC. North Man. All three of those teams, Vikes, Lions, Packers.
Right now, they are tough, and I don't think the
Vikes are like as good as the Lions right now.
But could they go on the road and beat the
Lions if they really needed to? I think they could.

(08:44):
It's not it's not out of the realm of possibility.
Obviously we're gonna see in a couple of weeks. But
right now, the Bears, I really I do like Caleb Williams.
I do. I like him as a quarterback. I think
he's getting stronger and stronger. KOs How awesome is he
going up to those quarterbacks every single week just saying

(09:06):
something good about him? The dude is fantastic. I absolutely
love that he does that, especially to some of the
younger quarterbacks. You don't think that resonates with some younger quarterbacks.
Hey man, you're gonna do something, you're gonna tear this
league up. Just something like that. If their love language
is thoughts of affirmation or words of affirmation. Kevin O'Connell's

(09:29):
your dude, man, you fall in love with him immediately
because he's saying that every single time. I can't even
imagine what he's saying to Sam Donold right now. He
might not even have to be saying anything. He might
be doing things to him to show his love and
affection because that dude's job is safe. Even Clasiodova, mensa, man,

(09:50):
I was talking at the beginning of the year and
the end of last season where this is like a
do or die type of season, and right now they
absolutely earn themselves one more season without having to talk
about it. I don't know if we're getting into that
spot for maybe extension, but we'll see. I would like

(10:14):
to extend a positive handshake, a full affirmation, a thank you,
if you will, to the Vikings front office right now
for doing what they did, and the Kevin O'Connell for
doing what he's doing, and absolutely I will raise I
will stretch my hand out and it'll shake. It will

(10:36):
shake the hand of Sam Darnold. It might shake some
other things too, because I want to show him my
actual appreciation. Anyway, we're getting a little graphic. Obviously that's
not what we do here. But the Vikes, I think
this game is it going. Are the Vike's gonna score
forty two? No, they are not gonna score forty two
this time. I think the Falcons offense or the Falcons

(11:00):
defense was exactly what the Vikings needed, because they are
so soft in the middle, and they just they just
don't have guys that can run across the field with
Addison and Jefferson, and then we're trying to, you know,
cover up on Hockinson where he takes that lower cross.
That's that's a tough deal. It's a tough ro tojo,

(11:23):
so to speak. Bears a little bit better defensively than
the Falcons. And you remember a few short weeks ago,
Bears in Soldier Field, like should have won that game
against the Vikes. They bailed the Vikes out. The Vikes
were looking to steal their souls and then they got

(11:44):
soft on defense. Anyway, Vikes Bears, Monday Night football. I
never like the Monday Night against the Bears. It seems
to be weird. It's usually in Soldier Field. But it's
nice that it's at the bank. I want to see
a lot of purple there. Man, it's the night game.
Hopefully everyone just goes straight from work, goes there, has

(12:05):
a few beers in them and is rowdy and loud
and very very ready to see a Vikes kind of
they can clinch playoff berth. They can clinch a playoff
berth with the thirteenth win, or with a twelfth win.
Sorry sorry, sorry, twelfth win. If they're twelve and two

(12:27):
after fourteen games, come on, man, that's fantastic. So I
think the Vikes get it done. It's just going to
be a little more elbow grease than what people are
gonna want to see. I think Vikes could almost be doubting.
They could be down third quarter, maybe not into the
fourth quarter, but down some point in the third quarter.

(12:50):
Bear's it's one of those teams where you know they
got that that head coach where he's kind of in
the wing, trying to play for a position, trying to
play for having the head coaching job next year, that
interim deal. Those are sometimes sneaky. You remember the Raiders
a few years back, where just all of a sudden
they just played like they rattled off five or six

(13:13):
straight wins behind their interim head coach and unreal man,
I can't remember how long ago that was. Already, was
that five six years ago? I'm not sure anyway, fights
get it done obviously. This is the point of the
podcast where I'm just like, I don't know, what's it
gonna be? You, what's gonna I think the fights get
back on the sack trade they get for sure for

(13:37):
this week. Caleb Williams he's gonna get hurt. I think
he's gonna not I'm not talking physically. Kes aren't gonna
hurt him physically on purpose. He's just he's just gonna
get hurt by that Bryan Flores defense where it's just
he doesn't know quite yet being a rookie to where
his protection should be anything like that. He's gonna get

(13:58):
rattled and he doesn't a big time arm, but he's
just not gonna be able to have time to be
able to throw where he's gotta throw. I think the
Vikes get four sacks. Defensively, I think the the Vike's
run game probably gonna sputter a little bit too. It's
gonna be tough. Running the ball again. So I think
the Vike's gonna have to rely on short passing game,

(14:20):
open up the long passing game run just enough. I'd
like to see seventy five plus out of Aaron Jones again,
that would be nice. I just want Aaron Jones to
be healthy, because the healthy Aaron Jones mentally physically, he's
the best running back that we can have right now.
He's the best on the roster. I don't like what

(14:40):
I see out of Acres all that often. I mean,
he can spell him for a little bit, but I
don't like him starting. I want Aaron Jones out there
all the time. So seventy five plus yards from Aaron
Jones again, and I think, man, I think Hockinson. This
seems like a spot where Hawk gets just I think

(15:00):
he goes off. I could see Hockinson getting a touchdown,
maybe even two. And I see him eighty five ninety
plus yards, seventy catches, possibly two touchdowns. I think that
this is his game. This is TJ. Hockinson. I think
this is his big game. I hope Darnold keeps throwing

(15:23):
the ball like he has been, keeps escaping the pocket.
I want to see the tight ends kind of shine
in this game because I think they're gonna have to.
Bears defense is a little tougher than what people give
them credit for, So let's go. I think they cover
the spread. I'm gonna go twenty six sixteen win by ten,
twenty six sixteen. It's gonna be close. I could see

(15:44):
them being like sixteen fourteen down sixteen fourteen into the
third quarter or something like that, and then the Vikes
turning on. I hope that's wrong. I hope they're up
twenty six nothing right away. That'd be great. But there
you have it. Twenty six sixteen thanks to Seventh Avenue Pizza,
thanks to Beer Belly Sports, thanks to Matt Jeffrey and Bruce. Bruce.

(16:08):
Fucking love Bruce. I hope he actually listens to the
podcast and doesn't then just take Matt Geffrey's work for it,
because I fucking love you, Bruce. I love you guys.
I love everybody. I hope everyone's having a great holiday time.
It's so weird having these holidays so close to each other,
because now we're only a couple of weeks away from Christmas. Unreal.
It seems like Thanksgiving just got over. But I hope

(16:31):
everyone's having a great December. Stay warm, Stay Warm, Minnesotan's,
and as always, skull bitches.
