Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Purple People Leader. Justin Extrom is bringing us purple
positivity brought to you by Seventh.
Speaker 2 (00:06):
Avenue Pizza before pizza became trendy purple positivity yet again.
Oh my goodness, I'm just an extra. I'm the host
of the Purple Positivity Podcast, and I am absolutely purveying
nothing but purple positivity all over the place. Thirteen and two,
(00:33):
Kevin O'Connell becomes the very first Minnesota Vikings head coach
to have multiple thirteen win seasons. Obviously, but Grant didn't
have the sixteen game slate the entire time, and neither
did obviously, Kevin O'Connell is basically the only coach that
had the sixteen game slate, but still thirteen wins as
(00:56):
thirteen wins is thirteen wins. Solutly love what I am
seeing from this offense. When they're clicking when it's time
to sault games away, I'm still a little frustrated because
things just don't They just don't put it away. They
(01:17):
just don't put games away. I want to see them
run up the score. I want to see them, Obviously,
I like what I saw. They were trying to get
a one on one matchup on that third down to
salt away the game, and then Sam Darnold decided to
just take the sack. Very nice. I mean that that
(01:39):
was smart, very good. Make sure you don't put yourself
in a situation in which you fumble. Good And it
worked out in our defense. One play done, and I
think DK Metcalf and his weird rounded off route. He
should have been going back to the quarterback, but instead
he just kind of win a fueled a little bit
(02:00):
and hung Geno Smith out to dry.
Speaker 1 (02:03):
That's fine.
Speaker 2 (02:03):
I mean DK had himself a touchdown earlier in the game.
And I mean the Vikings, for all intensive purposes, were
in another dogfight, because they always seem to be in
a dogfight. I missed the prediction by one point. I
said twenty eight twenty four for some reason, and I
said it was gonna be like they were gonna the
Seahawks were gonna have to do like a comeback thing
(02:26):
either way. Now, with the Lions losing the way they
did and with the Packers still red hot, Vikings can't
let stuff up. They are the number one. The Eagles
losing too. I almost forgot the Eagles lost. They may
be able to lost more than just a game. Jalen hurts.
I don't know how long.
Speaker 1 (02:46):
He'll be out.
Speaker 2 (02:46):
It looks like concussion protocol. But it was kind of funny,
Like it's not funny when someone gets concussed and you
gotta stop the game and stuff like that. But he
looked I think the officials were gonna let him continue playing,
except for he looked directly into the official's eyes and
did like a weird little thumbs up, and that's when
they're like, ah, get him out of here, Like he
(03:07):
just must have looked all goog agt or cross eyed
or whatever he did, and then he didn't play the
rest of the game. But that being said, the Vikings
have the first seed, the number one seed just waiting
for them. All they have to do is beat the
two toughest teams in the division, Like the two teams
(03:28):
that the one's chasing you and you're chasing the other.
You have to beat them twice. I'm not saying they're
gonna go to and All. I'm not saying they're gonna
go to and All. I'm not saying they're going on too.
I'm just gonna say, depending on what happens this game,
let's say, first half of this Packers game gets out
(03:51):
of hand fast, Bikings are gonna call off the dogs
and not show anybody anything. They'll be in that five seed.
It won't matter. They're all three of the teams are
in the playoffs. The number one seed I think is important.
But you got to remember the last time the Vikes
had a bye, they lost two straight games right after it,
So it's not It's not the greatest thing always to
(04:16):
have a hot team take a bye, but.
Speaker 1 (04:20):
It would be nice to get healthy.
Speaker 2 (04:22):
Obviously, the Lions they get they're down twenty two or
twenty four original roster slots. That's impressive to me. Like
if I was them, I would just fold up. That's
what you should do. Just fold up, just pull of.
Vikings get the number one seed and lose anyway, that's
what you should do. But I just hope everyone is
(04:45):
having a really good holiday, good Christmas break, because this
football has been fun. When you're a Vikings fan, I
mean I'm more of a retroactive like we're DoD they
do good, Okay, I'm happy about it. Did they do well?
I'm happy about what they could do. Like I'm a
little bit different than I was a few years ago.
Speaker 1 (05:05):
But here we go.
Speaker 2 (05:07):
Vikings Packers meet up. Vikes beat the Packers. They were
beating up on the Packers in Green Bay earlier this season,
and then they weren't beating up bottom. They for all
intentsive purposes, probably should have lost that game. There was
a couple of bounces that went the Vikings way for once,
(05:29):
a couple of calls that went the Vikings way for once,
and they beat the Packers in Green Bay. Now they
have the final game of us Bank Stadium, the final
regular season game us Bank Stadium this season. I'm telling
you right now, if they win this game, that game
next week in Detroit, fun, fantastic fu and fun because nobody,
(05:54):
I tell you, nobody predicted that game to be all
out for the number one seed for the division.
Speaker 1 (06:03):
Like you could have never predicted that. Even halfway during
the season.
Speaker 2 (06:06):
You're like, a, that game's not gonna matter, Vikes are
gonna have to play and scratch and whatever. Now, wow,
thirteen to two, both teams Packers, red hot. Packers might
be the best team in the NFC right now, and
now the Vike's gotta host them. I am a little
afraid of what Josh Jacobs means to that team. The
(06:27):
big thing is if they can shut Josh Jacobs down, great,
but no teams have been able to shut him down yet.
A couple of weeks ago against Seattle, they just ran
Seattle out of their own building, and you see what
they happened with the Vikes. Vikes had to get kind
of lucky towards the end. I hope this is a
no holds barred cage match Packers Vikes. Some of the keys,
(06:52):
some of the keys are gonna be that offensive line
of the Vikings. I'm telling you right now, for any
of you that listen to me on canas I Sports
said it last week last week's Saturday Sports special that
the offensive line is the Achilles heel because they act
like Swiss cheese sometimes. And I know they got Cam
Robinson out there helping. It's just sometimes they are just
(07:17):
getting beat. Some stunts are beating them. I don't know
if it's just like the protection and Aaron Jones is
missing his block or what's happening. But towards the end
of that game, Seattle was just running all over that
offensive line.
Speaker 1 (07:32):
Just there was pressure on Sam Darnold constantly, and then
when they needed to drive.
Speaker 2 (07:38):
Sam Donald hobbling on one leg throws that touchdown to
Justin Jefferson, And I'm telling you right now, if that
was Patrick Mahomes throwing that touchdown, we wouldn't see the
end of it. I could barely find a clip of
it anywhere. The only reason why I can find it
is because you know, I'm part of Viking Twitter, and
I can see it because people are posting it a lot,
but not like no one gives a fuck for some reason, which, hey,
(08:03):
more power to us when no one cares, because this
Vikings team is so much better as an underdog. I'm
gonna be honest with you, I have not seen the line.
I would put the Vikes as a one point underdog.
I would because I think the backers are a little
bit better. And I think even if being a home game,
(08:25):
one of the best home teams in the National Football
League the last few seasons, I mean, it's always been
tough to play at US Bank Stadium. People say, so,
we'll see how it goes. I think this one's a battle.
This one's gonna be somewhat of an offensive. I think
teams this time of year, especially against your own conference,
(08:50):
against your own against a future playoff matchup. Possibly you
do not want to show it too many people anything
that can beat you. So it's kind of a bend,
but don't break, and don't show what you need to
do to not break. It's base defense. It's make sure
(09:10):
you're not showing any tendencies. But if the game gets
on hand, you just let it get.
Speaker 1 (09:15):
Out of hand. That's good enough.
Speaker 2 (09:17):
You've seen it many many times in the years with
Bill Belichick, he would do that if the game got
on hand, He's like, man, that's good.
Speaker 1 (09:25):
I don't care if he was forty four to ten.
Speaker 2 (09:27):
We're still gonna lose the Super We're still gonna win
the Super Bowl, so it doesn't matter.
Speaker 1 (09:31):
Kevin O'Connell, he's kind of one of those goofy guys.
He does.
Speaker 2 (09:35):
He loves the guys that he's around, those locker room speeches.
I guarantee you all those guys want to run through
a wall for him afterwards, because I know ninety nine
point nine percent of the fan base does. The only
point five percent that doesn't there they can't hear, or
they can't see the subtext, or they just don't have Twitter.
Speaker 1 (09:56):
I don't know. But I would absolutely run through the
old my own walls. Like at my house, I wanted
to look nice and stuff.
Speaker 2 (10:04):
This time year, I would run through my own walls
just for him, because what a fantastic motivator. I just
hope now that everything's sitting in front of him, they
got flex to the afternoon game US Bank. Afternoon games
not always the best for the Vikes. I'm gonna be
honest here, not always the best, but I will certainly
(10:25):
tell you I think this game is gonna be fun
for at least a half. I think it's gonna be
very close, and then if it continues to be close,
it'll be.
Speaker 1 (10:32):
Great for a full game.
Speaker 2 (10:34):
But if one of the two teams gets out in ahead,
we're not gonna see full stuff. I hope people are
ready for that, and I hope I'm wrong. I hope
we see just a all all battle.
Speaker 1 (10:46):
Because no one wants to lose this game.
Speaker 2 (10:48):
So I obviously I'm stalling like I always stall, But
I think the Vikes have a tough road a hole
this week.
Speaker 1 (10:59):
Don't get mad at me. I think it's gonna be
very very hard.
Speaker 2 (11:03):
I see the Vikes losing this game, and I hope
I'm wrong. I see them losing the game. I see
it like a twenty seven to twenty type game, and
I know what kind of feels like.
Speaker 1 (11:18):
That.
Speaker 2 (11:19):
That's not exactly the worst thing in the world, because
the last week doesn't mean anything. You can just pack
up your guys, have a first round by anyway, make
sure everyone gets healthy, then not worry about it.
Speaker 1 (11:30):
Do you really want to.
Speaker 2 (11:32):
Back to back just like all out brawl games, you
know all at AFC West from a few years ago,
where they just beat to live and heck out of
each other.
Speaker 1 (11:41):
Then get to the super Bowl and have nothing left. Now,
you don't want that.
Speaker 2 (11:46):
I mean even last year forty nine Ers had a tough,
tough slate, it was tough to go and they get
to the super Bowl and lose. So you know what,
I'm changing my mind. Vikings aren't losing this game. They're
winning twenty seven at twenty. That's what we're doing. So
Christmas Purple positivity miracle, that's what it's gonna be. Vikes
(12:07):
win this game twenty seven to twenty. It's probably gonna
be a lot closer than that. Mikes might lose, but
you know what, I don't give a flying fuck thanks
to Seventh Avenue Pizza. I had just had a slice
of Seventh Avenue pizza. That's what made me change my mind.
I think, because this is purple positivity, they're gonna win.
I immediately changed my mind when I started saying because
I felt like crying there For a second, I was like,
Oh my god, am I getting divorced again?
Speaker 1 (12:28):
Nope, just he han around.
Speaker 2 (12:31):
Vikes win twenty seven to twenty, still have that first
overall seed waiting for them. They'd have to beat Detroit.
We'll see how it goes. All right, that's it. That's
all I You know, I am not above changing my
mind mid podcast, So don't get too mad at me.
Speaker 1 (12:51):
League.
Speaker 2 (12:51):
It's gonna be a tough game. I think the Vikes
kind of show us something that we want to see,
and it might be for the best, might not be
for the best to be. I just don't want to
have where they just beat the living crap out of
each other the final week and then lose, then end
up playing all dinged up in first round of the
playoffs and get ousted.
Speaker 1 (13:09):
I don't want that.
Speaker 2 (13:11):
I want the best, most healthy team possible. Hawkinson healthy,
Donald healthy, all those guys healthy.
Speaker 1 (13:17):
The we need Harrison Smith.
Speaker 2 (13:19):
Healthy because that defense just isn't the same without them,
There's no way. I mean, it's great, thanks for those
guys doing what they did, but man, it's just not
the same without the Swiss Army knife there. Okay, So
there you have it. Merry Christmas, Happy holidays. I hope
everyone's safe and with someone that they think that they
should be with, and I'm hoping you're watching lots of football.
(13:42):
Everyone's safe and have a full tummy of food because
until next week, skull bitches,
