Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Purple People leader Justin extrom is bringing us purple Positivity,
brought to you by Seventh Avenue Pizza before pizza became trendy.
That is right, ladies and gentlemen, purple positivity. This time
it's a playoff purple Positivity. I told you last year

(00:20):
that I was hoping the playoff Positivity and Purple Positivity
would at least be one week long and coincide with
each other. And this week, at least we have one
for sure. That being said, thank you to Seventh Avenue
Pizza for sponsoring this fine podcast, and thank you to
both my listeners. You guys are great, especially bruised the

(00:41):
mustache h Chef's kiss my man. Anyway, Fikes lose thirty
one to nine. I'm telling you right now, something was up.
It just looked weird. Nobody's talking about Darnald's finger being taped.
Was it a blister? Was it his nail? Was something else?

(01:03):
I have no idea, but his accuracy. He was absolutely atrocious,
red zone efficiency, very very bad. Vikes did make a
move have Daniel Jones coming in. They might be doing
the have him as the third quarterback. I don't know.
Could you think of some sort of red zone packages

(01:24):
with him. Maybe maybe get a little running game involved
in the red zone packages. Aaron Jones, he's doing Aaron
Jones things. He's dinged up, got to sit out for
a little bit. Cam Akers just is not the same guy. Healthy.
Aaron Jones is the key to making a lengthy playoff

(01:46):
run for these Vikes. That's what makes red zone a
little easier is being able to run the ball effectively.
And there were times where they were just going empty backfield,
not even showing that they're going to run the ball,
which is crazy because inside the red zone that's what
you want. You want people to think you're gonna run
the ball. And then you have those naked little bootlegs

(02:06):
where everyone's just going one way and you're going the
other way and it's an easy touchdown. You have justin Jefferson,
Jordan Edison, TJ. Hockinson, those red zone snaps. You should
have a touchdown fifty percent of time with those guys,
and then throw Aaron Jones in there too. Don't get cute,
just do with what's been getting you there is what

(02:27):
I think anyway, fourteen and three is what the Fikes
end up being. Sam Darnold looked bad, very very bad.
His completion percentage atrocious, qbr atrocious hurts. I think Kevin
O'Connell definitely got out coached. I believe Ryan Flores definitely
got out coached, out out thought, out fought the guys.

(02:52):
Just it looked like they got bodied up and after
the first half, it's just like, you know what, we're
not going to show anything, like really really crazy. I
thought it was very telling at the end of the
first half when they weren't going hurry up. They were
just holding onto their timeouts, and then you kick the

(03:15):
field goal, and then you kick the ball out of
bounds and then the Lions come down and get a
field goal to end the half. Very very bad that
the special teams really really stunk it up, I thought,
I think Brian Wright his is it Ryan? Right? Ryan?
I have no idea. I can't even think anymore. I'm

(03:36):
just trying to get through this week, sick kids and whatnot,
a little bit of snow here and there, blah blah
blah blah blah blah blah blah. I see your lips
moving justin but all I hear is anyway. Bikes fourteen
and three they end up they have it. They had
it right there, right there for the taking, and it
just looked so mediocre, looked so bland. The offensive all

(04:00):
put just was not explosive. They just didn't come in there.
The special teams, like I was saying, just kind of
shit the bed. And it stings to see that. It
just because first half of the season before Will the
Thrill got injured, he was unstoppable. He was going to

(04:22):
be on pace for setting the single season rookie scoring record.
I would think like he was sitting there and then
lo and behold and the Lions. That's a story that's
not being talked about. Their kicker just comes from laying
bricks and then just comes in and just sets the
Lions single season scoring record. Yeah, let's just do that,

(04:42):
huh Man kickers kickers. Okay, So moving forward, a little
bit of playoff positivity mixed in with purple positivity. Obviously,
this week will mostly be purple positivity about the Vikes,
who in turn have to go on the road go

(05:04):
to the West Coast. You're supposed to go to the
West Coast, but fires and whatnot happening out there. I
hope everyone's okay, it's awful. Like those fires, man, that
is just crazy. Some of that footage that you see
fires just rampant. You can't do anything about it. You
see people online, Oh use ocean water, use this man.
Just think about the people, like you know, you don't

(05:27):
have to say negative stuff all the time. Just be like, man,
I hope everyone's okay. Oh, family is good. I hope
the animals are good. That's the thing too, Like the animals,
anything in the woods and stuff like that. Where the
hell they go? What do they do? Just completely relocate
their echo their ecosystem. I don't know. But the game

(05:48):
gets moved the Arizona, which is good news for the Vice.
The last time the Vikes they played there, however, was
not good news. It was the last second field goal
that was missed. Different kicker now, But I mean, it's
kind kind of scary. We're not going against the Cardinals, though,
We're going against the La Rams team that everybody says

(06:10):
that nobody wants to play them. Nobody wants to play them. Hey,
Kevin O'Connell, you don't need a whole lot of like
many little storylines here to get yourself excited for this one.
Kevin O'Connell going against his mentor the guy that gave
him a shot, whatever you want to say, and the
guy that got his offensive scheme and Brian Flores got

(06:33):
beat badly last time when LA came in here and
beat they didn't beat the living Tara the Vikes, but
it was a track race that the Vikes could not
keep up, and that was their second worst loss of
the season. That being said, you know, if they lose
this game, the lost four times this year to two teams.

(06:55):
Please don't lose this game, Vikes. Obviously, I don't know
what to think. It's gonna be pretty tough for LA
relocating things. It's not even gonna feel like a home
game for them because there's so many they call Minnesonans
or Arisota, like, there are so many relocated Minnesota people

(07:17):
that are down there just waiting for this sort of
opportunity to go watch a playoff game, watch the vice
playoff game. A lot of people Delta and Sun Country
and all those They just jacked their prices up from
Minneapolis to Phoenix just immediately too, which good for them.
I guess it fucking sucks, but good for them. I

(07:38):
hope there's a lot of purple in the stands, because
this is a golden opportunity. It's a it's not even
a road playoff game. It's like a neutral site playoff game,
which I mean we got to take advantage. Guys started
off Vikes two and a half point favorites. I saw
as much as just a coin flip, and then when

(08:01):
it got switched to Arizona, I saw I go back
to two and a half point Vikes. I think the
main key is Aaron Jones and his health, more specifically,
the running game. The running game needs to get going,
need to take care of the football, more specifically in
the red zone. Take care of the football. An offensive

(08:24):
line looks very, very porous lately. Their teams are just
rushing for and just basically sitting in Darnold's lap. Gotta
have some sort of scheme for this team. This is
going to be a track me. I think the over
and under, you know, i'd probably put it at early fifties,

(08:47):
fifty one, fifty two, something like that. Fifty for sure,
I could see that easily being the case. I don't
know if i'd go the over if it's like fifty five,
but it's one of those games. It looks like it
could be a track. Mean, a team that can successfully
run the football and stop the run has a really
good opportunity to win this game. The Vike's defense, they

(09:14):
gotta find a way to cover all three of those receivers.
They gotta find a way. There's always somebody leaking open.
They gotta have Pace is gonna have to have himself
a really, really good game play Cashman. It was different
seeing him back in there. I just don't think he
had his game legs underneath him. He was about a

(09:35):
step step and a half behind. A couple different times
he was going against one of the best running backs
in the game, But this week gonna be going against
a whole bunch of different guys. Kyron Williams having himself
a season, gotta stop him. Big key is stopping the
run and being able to run the ball effectively. Short yardage,
third down situations need that, definitely need that. I think

(10:00):
Brian Flores in his blitzing scheme got found out. Teams
know that if they hold serve on second down and
keep it within a manageable third down, you can get
through that blitz middle of the field. Just why open
why open space that I wasn't even nearly on key
or anything like that. But I don't want to see that,

(10:25):
and I think the Vikings and Brian Flores more specifically,
are gonna have a little more of a game plan
for this. Pooka and Akua. He wasn't supposed to play
that last game and they I don't know if it
was true that Brian Flores said, we didn't know. You're
supposed to. You're supposed to prepare either way. You know
you're supposed to have something in there, so don't make excuses.
Just go get him. This is a big boy football game.

(10:47):
I think the winner of this has a real good opportunity.
You'd have to go to Detroit or go to Philly,
a good opportunity to get like that first win under
your belt. Say the Packers beat Philly, then the Packers
go to Detroit, and then the Vikes have an opportunity

(11:08):
to possibly host a playoff game. What do you think
Maybe Washington will win. Washington could beat Tampa that would
be nice, and Green Bay beat Philly. Come on, come on,
let's be positive about this. That would be fun. Could
you imagine the Vikes hosting the next two games? Just

(11:29):
get past this game like they say one and oh,
one and oh each week. Fikes. Man, I'm obviously you
guys know me enough. Both of you know that listen
to this know that I'm he han around. I think
this is gonna be a battle. I think this is
gonna be one of those games where people talk about
this game for a while. I think something BIG's gonna

(11:53):
happen both ways, probably offensively defensively for the Vikings. I
think this is gonna be one of those where Vikes
get off to a fast start, then the Rams come
back and get off of their fat you know, tit
for tat ying, for Yang, whatever you want to say.
I think it's I mean, depending on how that first

(12:15):
half goes. I want to see the Vikes ahead at halftime.
I want to see them ahead by at least ten points,
and then I'll feel really confident about it because I
think the Vikes have the team that can kind of
spread and put it away. But if they're down by ten,
I'm not happy about that. So let's say this. I

(12:38):
think it's going to be. I'm kind of going back
and forth. It's either going to be a thirty twenty
seven Vikes win or twenty seven to twenty four Vikes loss.
Let's go thirty twenty seven Vikes win, maybe overtime. We
haven't had one of those for a little bit since
the Bears thing, so let's go, you know, three twenty

(13:00):
That would be tough though, too. Twenty three to twenty
in overtime or thirty twenty seven overtime, three point win overtime.
I'm hoping they get up by a lot and they
just kind of sort of cruise, almost like the Packers game,
where they don't necessarily have it away, but they have
it close enough to away where that defense can kind
of pin their ears back. I think Dallas Turner is

(13:21):
a big key in this too. He sort of went away.
He only had one tackle last game. The team's found
out that the other guys are the guys that they
They plan for them, they scheme for them. I haven't
paced Junior. I think he has a huge game too,
and I think Blank Cashman, both of them have a
really good game. I think a defensive touchdown happens in

(13:45):
this game because defense is going to put this on
their back. Defensive touchdown. Darnad looks a little bit better,
hopefully no tape on his finger and Hopefully there's a
next week where there's purple positivity. Otherwise it'll just go
to playoff positive. But I'm thinking the Vikes win this one.
Let's go thirty twenty seven. I throughout the season, I
was actually thirteen and four with my picks. I think

(14:10):
thirteen and four with the Vikes. So not terrible. Obviously,
I had a couple that got away from me. But
for the most part, a good year to the ground.
I think this game's going to be a track me.
It gonna be a fun one to watch. Hope everyone's
ready for Monday Night. Monday Night and Arizona. Man, don't
get too man at Joe Buck and Aikman. I don't
think they're that bad Akman since he laid off the

(14:32):
sauce a little better, looks a little healthier now. And
I don't mind Joe Buck. Be nice to him. Hopefully
he's nice to us. And there's not a disgusting act
by Randy Moss replay. He has sense sort of apologize
for that. But thoughts of prayers with Randy Moss and
his family of course too, Thoughts of prayers with all

(14:53):
the people out in California fires, anybody else dealing with anything.
My thoughts and prayers and whatever whatever you believe in,
my positive vibes are with you as well. So that
being said, let's do this. Huh, Vikings Playoffs? Come on, man,
did you expect this? Yeah? It's so fantastic, so special.

(15:14):
Thanks to Matt Jeffrey for believing in me, and then
Beer Belly, Sports Bruising, that mustache, oh Man, Chef's Kiss Buddy,
and Seventh Avenue Pizza thanks for sticking around. I gotta
get me some of that, that's for sure. The secret
is definitely in the sauce ingredients, and the bigger secret
is the people that make that pizza. That whole company fantastic.

(15:38):
So obviously, let's hopefully, hopefully until next week, gold bitches,
