Purple Positivity with Justin extrom brought to you by Seventh
Avenue Pizza. Grab one at your local grocery store or
your local holiday station. Seventh Avenue Pizza before pizza became trendy.
Speaker 2 (00:18):
That right, Ladies and gentlemen. My name is Justin.
Speaker 1 (00:21):
Next term and this is.
Speaker 2 (00:21):
Purple positivity, and I think with the preseason we're sort
of positive. I don't know if you can get the
pitch of my voice high enough to be sarcastic or
what we got going on, but we didn't see a
whole lot from the guys that are on the fifty
three man roster. We saw a few guys that we
thought they were going to be on the fifty three
(00:43):
man roster just weren't they. It seems like the more
you played, the less chance you had at being on
that fifty three Our kevine Father he had a plan.
So trading Phillips and trading Blackman McKai Blackman, you thought
(01:04):
it was kind of weird where we needed some corner depth,
needed some of those guys that can play multiple positions.
He just didn't show us enough. Basically, traded those two
guys for Adam Feelin. Welcome back, at nobody loves local
talent like the Minnesota Vikings fans. And I'm not making
(01:28):
fun of us. Right now, we probably have the best
third wide receiver in the league, probably the highest paid,
but he's gonna be the two receiver while Addison's out.
And then we go across the seas and then we
could see like the actual Kevin O'Connell offense come to fruition.
Gotta stay healthy, gotta get healthy. Harrison Smith Dilon dealing
(01:51):
with something that's like non football related when you're out
a few weeks from practice something like that. I don't know, man,
I start getting thoughts of like intestinal issues or you
got some sort of virus or could just be a
family thing. I don't know. Also CJ. Ham, he's starting
(02:13):
on the not the pupp list, but he's starting on
injured reserve. Didn't expect that. I mean, there's no designation
for it, Like, I mean, can you designate somebody and
call it quote I really don't want to use a fullback,
but he's getting paid a lot of money end quote designation?
Like can you do that? Because I don't know Kevin O'Connell.
(02:34):
It's so weird because it looks like he just hates
running the football, right, but he's gearing up to run
the football, and he turns out his offenses do dang
well running the football, even though it seems like he's
going to be pass happy, pass heavy, especially when Jordan
Addison comes back. And you got those guys. Man, please
(02:55):
be healthy, please stay healthy. Justin Jefferson, please, man, We
need you the entire season. We need TJ. Hockinson the
entire season. We need all of those guys. We needed
the offensive line, even the rookie Jackson. Come on, man,
we need you. We need you to stay healthy. Brandle
(03:15):
can come in in a pinch and he can play
just about any position. But I'm telling you right now
that starting offensive line, if we don't have all five
of them most of the season, it's gonna look pretty gross.
And I'm not gonna predict the season right now. I'm
just kind of recapping the preseason a little bit. I
was wrong a lot of stuff. I thought Ryan Wright
(03:39):
was done. But one muff punt by the rookie or
not punt, one muffed snap where he puts it down
and we missed the field goal because he put it
down all weird and crooked and stuff like that. Last
time we saw him, that was it. Here you're in
a great box, off to Abba Dabi. That was that
(04:01):
the country that Normal went. When Garfield was like, I'm
done with you, Normal shipped him off to Abu Dhabi.
Is that where Kevin O'Connell sends the guys in quezi
Adova Mensa? A couple couple other surprises. Lucky Jackson, I
am really I was really impressed with him, and I
thought there was no stinking way that he was gonna
(04:21):
make it to the practice squad. If they sent him out.
I thought somebody was gonna claim him, gonna pick him up.
But you can see that wide receiver market. People are
trading for their guys. They're making sure that they have one, two,
three guys that they want to rely on. They're not
gonna go look for former XFL talent or unproven rookies.
(04:45):
I mean, technically the way he's gonna turn twenty eight
years old. He looked great, but it was against the
twos and threes, So I understand that. The one that
really blows my mind is Gabe Murphy. I thought he
did a per fit them ount to show that he
was pushing, pushing for a spot on the fifty three.
(05:06):
I thought he was pushing for a spot in the
top like nine or ten rotational guys too, like I
don't know. I was looking at the film, looking at stuff,
watching preseason, watching the practices. I thought, man, he looked good,
he looked very solid, and I thought he was gonna
be doing good one other major. So this is purple positivity, right,
(05:29):
purple positivity of justin next term for both of you
listeners that stick with me throughout the way that you
know exactly there's you can be positive all the time.
You can just pump sunshine, pump purple sunshine. But I'm
not gonna do that because what this shows me Quasiodova, Menza,
Kevin O'Connell. They have so many undrafted free agents. I
(05:54):
want to say, the last count seven made the roster.
Seven undrafted free agents. That doesn't seem normal to me.
And they have one or two guys that they drafted
that are on this roster. That's I mean, you keep
on gaining all this draft capital, you keep on getting
(06:16):
all this you draft them back so you have more
draft picks, and then you don't hit on those draft picks.
Eventually ownership is gonna look at that. You would think
something's going to have to happen in the next couple
of years, like they're gonna have to make a substantial
run in the playoffs. I'm not talking just one win,
you know, get the one win first. What I'm saying,
(06:37):
maybe get a bye and then a win and then
you're in the NFC Championship game type thing, get to
a super Bowl because they got to prove that. These
trades and getting at them Feelin you kind of kind
of overpaid for him. I thought when you look down
to it, given you know, like a second string corner
(06:58):
and a solid defensive tackle, slash Noah's tackle the five tech,
like getting rid of him to get Adam Thielen. I mean,
I love having the guy back. Paying six point eight million,
I think the Vikes have to pay six point eight
or seven point two, I can't remember. I saw some
of that on spot track, but I don't pay attention
(07:18):
to a whole lot of the numbers. It's just I
look at the players that we traded to get those
picks that we traded Adam Feelin, and it seems like
we gave up a decent amount of draft capital, which
obviously doesn't matter because Quacy has not drafted all that well.
And that's that's no, Like, that's not me being negative.
That's just me stating a fact. So far what we
(07:40):
have seen, they have not drafted all that well. All
I can think of is Jordan Addison. Like, that's that's
one draft pick that has like exceeded expectations and is
supplanted in the starting rotation, except he got suspended. So
I mean three years, three games, and he was injured
(08:01):
a little bit so far in his career. But this,
you know, being suspended those first three games. Man, those
three games gotta be two and one. Man, I honestly
think the Vikes gotta somehow be two and one. And
I think that's what they're looking at. To Adam Feelin.
So we side JJ McCarthy for exactly twelve plays, netted
three points total, and then he went to a cap
(08:23):
and sweatpants. Hey, I guess he's the spot. That he's
the guy. This means two things. One, Kevin O'Connell knows
that's his guy. Two, he does not want the rest
of the NFL defenses seeing his tendencies negatively positively anything
(08:43):
like that they do not want to show the world.
They do not want to showcase the talent that they
think they have. That's why, you know, look at the
fifty three guys on this roster and then look at
their snapcount in the preseason. I mean, you could have
almost predicted it. You know, you don't realize that they
don't need to see them in the preseason action to
(09:06):
know those are the guys. It's maybe maybe they just
have an eye for it. We will certainly see Okay.
So that's pretty much the wrap of that. I think
the preseason went very well, even though it was the
one and two record. I think we had showed substantial
strides in tendancies like towards the goal line, especially when
(09:28):
we were going against the Patriots in the eleven eleven
drills that joint practices. I thought, that's the best the
Vikings have looked, and I think they pretty much that
was the bowl. On the season, they're like on the preseason,
they're like, Nope, we don't need to see anymore. We
go against big name talent. Obviously it's not the New
England Patriots that are going to win the Super Bowl
(09:48):
every single season, but still the new England Patriots. They
made them look silly, especially defensively. Brian Flores has his guys,
I want to see a little more cornerback depth. I
stay tuned, keep your years open, your eyes peeled, because
I think they might be looking at some more corner stuff.
Practice squad hits a solid practice squad too, just with
(10:09):
Gabe Murphy and Lucky Jackson on there alone. I'm very
excited to see how this season plays out. Next week,
I'll do the Predictions Special thanks to Seventh Avenue Pizza, Beer,
Billy Sports, Matt Jeffrey h I love you guys, thanks
for allowing me to do this. Stick with me, both
of you that listen to this. It's gonna be a
fun season. And as always, skull bitches,
