Speaker 1 (00:00):
Get your Vikings updates with just an extrom on Purple
Positivity on Beer Belly Sports Radio Network, brought to you
buy it up at the Avenue Pizza before pizza became trendy.
That's right, ladies and gentlemen, I am purple positivity and
this is just an extrum. Or wait, I'm just an
(00:20):
extrum and this is purple positivity. And boy do we
have some positivity to get to But first, thanks to
special I always I don't know why I always say
that Seventh Avenue Pizza. Thanks to Seventh Avenue Pizza. Love
those guys. Let's get to it, purple positivity. We are
super positive this week because we got a huge win.
(00:44):
I I didn't expect the team to look as crisp
and as awesome as it did to me. I know
some of you may have seen the quote, or one
of you two may have seen the quote that I
had out there. What I really saw was two defenses,
(01:04):
one being the Cincinnati Bengals and the other being Minnesota Vikings.
The Cincinnati Bengals defense absolutely gave up, absolutely gave up
because their offense was frustrating the living tarnation out of them.
And I think the Vikings were frustrated with how the
(01:24):
offense had performed the last I don't know, seven of
the last eight quarters before that game, and the defense said,
you know what, We're going to take the game into
our hands. Isaiah Rodgers, have yourself a day, young man.
I absolutely love the fact that he just bawled out
(01:46):
like he was kinda one of those where you're not
quite sure what you're gonna get out of him. I
can't remember last time he even had an interception, let
alone a pick six, and boys, he fast. I know
it used to be a wide receiver, but man, when
he turned on those Jets, that is we're gonna have
(02:07):
high expectations for that guy now, like anytime that he
gets the ball, we're gonna expect him to house it.
Kind of like Van Gink last year where he had
those back to back touchdown games or whatever. You know,
he had those house calls and then we're like, oh, yeah,
I can't wait to see that again, and then we
just didn't see it. I hope Isaiah Rodgers continues doing
(02:30):
that because he had basically three turnovers, two house calls,
a couple passes defense and him and that defense made
Jake browning look exactly like pants browning like or brown pantsing.
Cause I knew if you listened to this last week,
(02:52):
I knew that this was a game defense had to
step up and the running game had to step up.
So let's get to that second one. The running game.
Mason very well done. I finally finally predicted he was.
You know, I've been predicting he's gonna get in the
end zone, and I think he wants to be that belcow.
(03:13):
He wants to be that guy that gets, you know,
twenty five to thirty touches a game, and I think
he can do it. I don't know how decent he
is in the past game. They don't use him that
much in that pass game, but I think they might
want to start trying to do that. I'm sure cam
Akers will be in there a little bit more this week,
(03:35):
passing situation stuff like that. But when Mason's averaging six
to seven yards of carry, I mean, you gotta hand
it to him, and it's gonna make that Swiss Cheese
offensive line, which boy, I mean, I know we're mostly
positive this week, but that Swiss Chee's offensive line, man,
they made sometimes they were making the Bengals look like
(03:57):
they were the eighty five Bears, cause good God, that
that Bengals defense is absolutely atrocious and you're still giving
up gargantuan sacks. And I mean some of that's Carson
Wentz too. That's just been since day one, he's been
had a propensity to kind of get hold onto the
(04:19):
ball a little too long, go through his progression a
little too slow. That's one of those things that just
is gonna happen, especially when you're just coming in, you're
backup quarterback, and all of a sudden you're playing, you're starting.
So I hope Carson Wentz gets another week. I'm pretty
sure they're gonna go overseas and we're not gonna see
JJ McCarthy. We're gonna see Carson Wentz. And so the Vikes,
(04:44):
let's put a ball on it. Vikes get a big win.
They needed to show out at home because the week
before was absolutely awful. This week nine game, I think
it's nine thirty our time or thirty, I'm not even
sure either. It's really really early in Ireland and going
(05:05):
against an old foe Aaron Rodgers, I mean old foe,
old Mofo's he's aged but he's still he's got flashes
of Aaron Rodgers of old. That Steelers team. I don't
think the Steelers team's a joke at all. Like I know,
the Vikes are about one and a half or two
(05:25):
and a half point favorites, depends on what sportsbook you
look at. And because it's not really a road game,
I don't think it's a road game at all because
it's the Vikes show out up there. Man, when when
they go overseas, they have a huge following. I don't
know if it's just the name or if it's the
(05:46):
horned helmets, whatever it is. Anytime they go to London,
it's big Germany's big. They're gonna have a huge following
in Ireland. I already know ten to fifteen people just
from the Twitter verson that are going over there, So
I mean big, big following. They're gonna have a lot
of purple in the crowd, I think, And it's not
(06:07):
gonna be a normal road game. I'd much rather play
the play the Steelers in Ireland than in Pittsburgh, which
you know that that stadium isn't all that kind to
our purple and goal. So here we go, Week number four,
(06:29):
it's starting your cross seas journey, overseas journey. You're not
gonna be back in the States for a little while.
I think it's gonna be much much tougher because you
remember a few of those times that we've seen them
overseas Vikings. I'm talking you see them, they get off
(06:50):
to a slow start, and this offense has the propensity
to get off to a slow start anyway. I know
they got touchdown their first drive last week, but this
week could be a little bit different. Tomlin I you know,
I still wish we would have had him. That was
I'm pretty sure we lost him because we decided to
extend Brad Childress. I still blame Brett Fahr for that.
(07:12):
Brett Favre did just enough to get Brad Childress signed
and then make this make it a nightmare, an absolute
nightmare the end of his uh two year stint. But
regardless of that, I was definitely a side tangent that
I didn't plan on going to. I know when I
(07:33):
opened my mouth and turn on this recording app that
I don't know what I'm gonna talk about or how
I'm gonna say things. So I apologize to people when
I said we should riot if Isaiah Rodgers does not
get Defensive Player of the Week. I should have said
if Isaiah Rodgers doesn't get NFC Player of the Week,
we we kindly do nothing about it, because that's my
(07:56):
type of riot. Like I'm literally gonna be so mad,
I'm gonna sit here and do nothing about it. So that,
I mean, that's that's where I am in my fandom
right now. I'm not I'm not really gonna riot, So
I apologize to people that took offense to that. I'm
not divisive or anything like that. I know Matt Geffery
wants me to ruffle some feathers, but I don't do
that very much except for like people, people probably hate
(08:19):
my heavy breathing or hate every once in a while.
Then I have a fan just blowing on my face,
so you hear that in the background, just rough because
I'm just too big. I am too big, and it's
too hot right now. It's almost October and it's like
eighty degrees. But it shouldn't be eighty degrees in my
house right now. It's almost October. Hey, my chubby, my
(08:44):
chubby body can't handle that. But so what we need
this week what we need Sunday morning, early our time,
Sunday morning. Need the Vikes to show up. Man. I
think that defense they need to get some turnovers on
Aaron Rodgers. Been a little since Harrison Smith got to
pickoff Aaron Rodgers been a long time, I think, So
(09:05):
hopefully Harrison Smith can get himself a pick. He looked okay,
like you can tell he's just a guy that wasn't
quite up to up the speed. But the rest of
the defense was like, hey, we're rallying against We're rallying
around Hitman. So that's that's the beauty of that. Now Hitman,
Harry should be a little more informed, a little a
(09:27):
little more rounded out, and good to go. That football
speed NFL football speed is just a bit different. I
think the Vikes do win this game, but I also
think it's gonna be kind of ugly where we're gonna
need that run game, Vike's run game. Jordan Aison comes back.
Maybe they can start they can use So I was
watching a high school game the other day last weekend,
(09:51):
and it was during the rain. They didn't really hand
the ball off, but it was basically a run game.
Quick slants, quick quick outs like wide receiver screens. I
think if you get Jordan Addison involved immediately, big plays
are gonna start happening to Justin Jefferson because he was
he's been sort of bottled up this year. He had
(10:13):
that big, big long I think it was about thirty
seven yard reception where he just kind of turning a
big play into an even bigger play. I want to
see that a little more often. I want, I want
JJ to take this game over. But that starts with
like the short passing game, Carson Wentz getting the ball
(10:35):
out quick, get to Jordan Addison right away, and then
things open up down the middle where those guys can
make their hey like Oliver, Oliver and Hock, Hock and Oliver,
Oliver and Hawk. I mean, it doesn't sound all that great.
I wish we could call him animal so they could
be hacking Animal the old the old wrestling Federation, Hock
(11:01):
and Animal. I just uh yeah, i'man Iahan back and
forth with this. I think the Vikes win, but I
honestly think it's gonna be like a gritty We're gonna
have to call upon our special teams. I think there's
gonna be a lot of short field because of turnovers,
(11:23):
and we're gonna need We're gonna need that punting game
to be on Ryan right, Ben's great. He's been great.
Ever since that thirty one yard punt in Week one,
he's been great. There's there's been nothing, nothing short of
fantastic about him so far, and our special team has
been great. So this is a game where they gotta
(11:45):
everything's gonna have to click. I think the Vikes get
either with a let's go twenty twenty to seventeen. We're
gonna go twenty to seventeen. It's gonna be gross. It's
probably it's probably gonna be like what weird scoring games
where it's like twenty to eighteen or twenty to sixteen,
where it's just a lot of field goals, missed extra
(12:08):
point something, something Weird's gonna happen, all those weird things.
I think Kevin O'Connell's gonna really want to get that
offense clicking a little bit more. I know we're still
gonna have a few guys banged up. I'm not sure
if the offensive line, if we're gonna have all five
starters in there, looks like Jackson's probably gonna be out
(12:29):
at least this and probably next week too. Hey I
don't I don't have the Friday injury report. The Thursday
one didn't look promising, that's for sure. I just know
that with Jordan Addison in there, things just change and
he's working himself. He wants to get that extension. He
wants to get thirty MILLI a year, and it starts
(12:50):
this week. Like, you have to show us that it's
time man, like, it's your time to shine. We have
an A and we have two A receivers. We have
two number one wide receivers. It's time that both of
them get on that score sheet. Look like it. I
call for both of them to get at least seventy
five yards and each of them get a touchdown. To
be honest with you, I think we're we're due for
(13:15):
a game like that. I think it does start with
the run game. They're gonna have to neutralize that defense
that because that that defensive line, that's no joke. And
they're not the Steelers of old, but they are still
fantastic at getting after the quarterback. So you need to
(13:36):
get the running game. You need to get the quick
passes out, you need to get moving, get get Carson
wentz on the move a little bit. He's not bad
running the ball. You just don't want to have to
call upon Rosmer quite yet. We don't need max power
in a spot that matters. Glad seeing him in an
(13:58):
NFL action, But I glad the NFL action was one
sided where he just kind of handed the ball off,
threw a couple dumby passes, and then we got out
there with a win. So there we go. I think
it's it's gonna be a battle. I think three point
win is asking. I mean, I've seen the lion one
(14:23):
and a half, two and a half kind of moves
back and forth. Three point win, how reclice is, twenty seventeen,
twenty one eighteen, whatever, whatever it is. I think it's
gonna be a three point Vikes win. And then they
go to London, so there you go. I didn't do
an Irish accent because most of my Irish accents start
hurting in this school one. Not sure why. It's just
(14:44):
because it's so close. You're like, hey, y ya ya yaya,
and then all of a sudden, that's hold. I'm sure
everyone wanted to hear that. That sort of weird noises,
But like I told you, I don't know what I'm
gonna say, and I don't know how it's gonna come.
Special thanks to Seventh Avenue Pizza, Matt, Jeffrey Beerbelly Sports.
(15:05):
Love you guys until next week. Scold bitches,
