Speaker 1 (00:00):
Teel's talk is being rockedy by Paul Bludy of Communications,
serving the but Midgie and ran Rapas area for over
fifty years. Hello, it's Sam here with some Timberwolves talk,
and this episode is going to have a more positive tone,
more more excited, which is great because the Minister Timberwolves

(00:23):
are now on a three game winning streak, which has
not been the case for a lot of this season.
They haven't been winning very many games, but they're now
back above five hundred, an eleven and twelve record, following
their most recent win against the Los Angeles Clippers one
o eight to eighty, absolutely blowing them out of the
water and their last and before that, they beat the

(00:47):
Lakers one nine to eighty, again blowing them out of
the water, holding teams to eighty points. That is not
something you see very often in the NBA these days,
but we did it back to back games, which is
really impressive. And then another win against the Clippers ninety
three to ninety two. And I'll start with talking about
that one because I was at that game. I was

(01:09):
there in person, and that was a really ugly game
to watch. We were coming off a four game losing
streak and it felt like we needed a win to
change the momentum, get something going, and we were playing
a Clippers team that's pretty banged up, no Norman Powell,
who's really their second best player, and it felt like

(01:33):
we needed to win at home, and we got it.
It was an ugly game. Neither team played that well.
Our execution down down the stretch was pretty poor. Misshots
to take the lead, misshots to extend the lead. But
at the end of the day, we got to win,

(01:54):
mainly because the Clippers execution down the stretch was worse
than ours, not because we did anything to really win
the game or deserve to win it. But the Clippers
lost it. They played worse than us, and we got
out of there with a win. Anthony Edwards played pretty terrible.
Nobody really had a fantastic game. Nothing really popped on

(02:15):
the stat sheet. Our defense was all right. We held
them to again ninety two points, which isn't bad, but
it wasn't really that impressive the game. But we got
to win. And kind of jokingly at that game, I said,
you know, this is where we turned the season around.
This is what we needed, just one win, which it

(02:37):
was an ugly win, but now looking at these next
two games, and now they've gone that seems that seems
like exactly what's happened, because after that ugly, scrappy, close win,
we've rattled off two blowouts. Now. One thing to mention
is that the Lakers a few nights ago and the

(02:57):
Clippers tonight have both been on the second second leg
of a back to back, so they've played the previous night,
which obviously helps. If a team has just played and
you're you're more arrested, you're gonna have a little bit
of an advantage at least definitely coming out to begin a game,
and maybe down the stretch they're gonna be more tired,

(03:18):
but still we're absolutely demolishing them, blowing them out. So
that's really encouraging. Against the Lakers, the defense was fantastic
and we blew them out by twenty nine points, and
Anthony Edwards had a bad game, another bad game where
he just shot very poorly, couldn't really get much going,

(03:42):
and still we found a way to get a big win.
And then just tonight playing the Clippers again, found a
way to get another big win. And that's three wins
in a row. After a long string of executive losses,
wins are what we needed our back above five hundred.

(04:03):
Julius Randall had an astounding first quarter and the Clippers
sixteen points I believe in the first quarter only ended
with twenty points, but really just came out shooting the
lights out, being aggressive, and he had four threes in
the game, eight to sixteen from the floor and really
set the tone early, got our offense going, and from

(04:23):
there we just kind of ran away with it. Josh
maynot played significant minutes. He played twenty minutes, had thirteen points,
which I believe is a career high for him, So
he had a good game. Really, we haven't seen him
play very much but Finch, so we started building a lead.
Finch put him in there a lot, and he showed

(04:44):
some positive stuff. He looks pretty good out there. He
got some rebounds, eight rebounds I believe, to go along
with thirteen points and then three assists. So it's a
really good game. And if we can get that, we
don't need that from him every night, but if but
if maybe once or twice a week, we've got a

(05:05):
game where we need something from the bench that we
aren't getting, or if someone's resting and we can throw
josh Mine out in there and get some solid production.
That'll be really helpful, just to have it just in
case for games like this and also games on the
stretch when people people are missing more time. So that's nice.

(05:26):
That's is Evincenzo. He's been playing a little better. He
didn't play great tonight, he had three points on one
of five shooting, but he's gotten he's gotten better still
not what maybe what he was advertised, but he's gotten better.
Kill Alexander Walker still one of our most consistent players,

(05:47):
and not was Reid didn't do much to night, but
still he's been playing well and he's been better on
the defensive end, which really helps. One of the reasons
why we've been shutting these teams down is we've been
better when Rudy Bear is not on the court. That
was our biggest problem, and now NAS has been playing
better on defense. Julius Randall, there's still some question marks there.

(06:07):
I'm not loving his defense, but I think it too,
has gotten better, and that makes the team defense better
when Rudy Gobert is off the court. Because Rudy has
continued to be really good defensively, and actually the last
couple of games has been really good offensively as well,
which helps helps her offense not be stagnant if Rudy's

(06:28):
not just standing in the paint and not really a
threat at all, So that's nice. Mike Conley, he's been
playing more consistent recently. Just good to see. Julis Randall.
He's still gonna have up ups and downs. I think
that's just gonna be who he is, and again struggles defensively,
but we need him for this team to succeed, so

(06:50):
I need to keep giving him opportunities. Let him go
and get his buckets. Jade McDaniels still still had some struggles,
but again he's gotten better. Or two everybody who started
off the season terrible. I don't think anyone's been playing
terrible these last few games, because I mean, obviously their wins.
They're three wins, two of them very dominant, and guys

(07:11):
are looking better. Anthony Edwards has been struggling. He had
a really rough start to the game tonight and really
rough previous two games. And we're still finding ways to win,
which I think is nice because you know, Anthony Edwards'll
he'll keep firing, he'll come back, he'll be better. And
if he's better, and everyone else continues to play at

(07:33):
the level they're playing at. This team, this team can
go places, and we've seen that last season obviously, but
we haven't really seen it much this year. So it's
encouraging to see in these last two games what we
can do when we're firing on all cylinders. So going forward,
we play the Warriors, I believe if it's not our

(07:56):
next two games, it's two and our next three are
against the Golden State Warrior, and I think those will
probably be good games. The The Warriors have had kind
of an up and down season as well. They started
off really hot and then kind of hit a lull,
lost lost quite a few games in a row, and
now I think they're starting to stabilize and level out again.

(08:19):
So should be exciting a couple of games, and let's
see if we can keep stacking wins and climbing up
these rankings. Because this is a very competitive Western Conference,
we're gonna have to win a lot of games where
it's looking better MHM.
