Speaker 1 (00:00):
Teules Talk is being rocked you by Paul Bloody of Communications,
serving the but Midgie and ran Rapas area for over
fifty years. Hello Sam, here with some Timberwolves talk to
come in at you. After the Timberwolves most recent loss
to the Houston Rockets in overtime one seventeen to one eleven,

(00:22):
they're now in a three game losing streak, having lost
a game to the Raptors and the game to the Celtics,
and all of these games have been within six points.
They're close losses, which I think. I don't know if
that makes it more devastating or if we were just
getting blown out, if that would be worse. I don't
really know. But we lost one ten to one oh

(00:44):
five to the Raptors, one o seven to one oh
five to the Celtics, and then one seventeen one eleven
to the Rockets just just tonight. And this Rockets game
was kind of the epitome of what has been bad
really about this timber Ool season and what has been frustrating.

(01:08):
So it's our first game since in two days, we
had a two days break, got a game the start
of a back to back, so play again the next
day and the Rockets have actually been a pretty solid
team this year. They have, they've been winning some games,

(01:29):
and now Mike Conley has missed his third game in
a row. This is in this three game losing streak.
Mike Conley has been out in all of these games.
And Rob Dilingham got a lot of run. He didn't start.
Dante Di Vincenzo started tonight, but Rob Dillingham got a
lot of run twenty four minutes off the bench, and
I guess we'll just start with him because that's what
I'm talking about. But twenty four minutes, I have to

(01:52):
assume that's the most he's played this year. And he
showed us a lot of things that we haven't seen.
And it wasn't all good, but he's a rookie. He's
barely played at all. But he showed a lot of
good things and was really a spark for us when
we needed it, and basically just did a lot of
good things that we haven't that I haven't seen a

(02:12):
lot this year. The biggest thing is that he's He's fast,
both with the ball in his hands, with the ball
not in his hands, just pushing tempo, pushing pace, and
that's not something This team has a lot. This team
is pretty slow, but Rob Dillingham is the opposite of slow.
He is one of the fastest players I've seen with

(02:34):
the ball in his hands. Like think Daron Fox or
Tyrese Maxey. Those guys coming to mind that are just
lightning quick with the ball, and that's Rob Dillingham. He's
really really fast and sometimes he'll be a little out
of control turn it over. He had three turnovers tonight,
one of them in crunch time was really bad. Caused

(02:57):
us an opportunity to take a lead, a bigger lead eight.
That one really sucked. But he plays really fast, which
I think is something this team needs. He shot five
of thirteen from the before he had twelve points tonight,
five of thirteen from the four to two of five
from three. He could have shot better, missed, missed, missed

(03:17):
a couple shots late that would have really helped. But
the thing is, even when the shots weren't going in,
he kept he kept shooting them, which I think is
what he needs to do. He didn't lose confidence like
there was there was one the one series of possessions
I think in the third quarter where he missed two
threes in a row and then immediately came back and
shot a third and made it like he didn't stop

(03:38):
shooting because he had missed, kept shooting and it went in.
So he also had seven assists and five rebounds. He
actually had a couple tough contested rebounds, which is nice
to see from a six foot guard. Had had some
assists to He looked really nice out there. Probably our

(03:58):
best player, I would say him, and him and Nikila
Alexander Walker probably our best two out there tonight. And
Nasritoso had a preslid game. It was really the bench
that that was good and kept us in this game.
So the Wolves went down down big in at the
at the half, and then coming out of the third
quarter we looked awful, went down by as many as

(04:21):
eighteen points, I believe, but we crawled back, scratched back
into the game, and that was mostly due to the bench. Nikile,
Alexander Walker, Nas Reed and Rob Dillingham, who already talked
about were our best players this game. Nas had nineteen points,
Nikil had thirteen points, Rob had twelve points. Besides Randall
and Ant, they were our three highest scores and they

(04:43):
really kept us in this game, got us back in
the game quite frankly, and they all played a lot
of minutes, so that was nice. Our bench has been good,
but the starters really were inconsistent and struggled tonight. I mean,
like I said, Dante gi Vincenzo got the start and
he was awful. Three turnovers, one of five from the floor,

(05:06):
zero four from three to three total points, only played
twenty one minutes. He didn't play at all in the
fourth quarter or overtime. He was just unplayable, which is
really disappointing and not something I first saw coming into
this season. I thought he was going to be a
really solid bench contributed for us, hitting a lot of threes,
spacing the floor, but he has just been horrendous and

(05:27):
it's hard to keep playing him when he's playing this bad,
and it looked like tonight was the turning point where
he Rob Billingham had more minutes than him. It is
hard to play him when he's playing this poorly, and
it's one of the reasons why we have just been
a terrible team this year. Not a terrible team, but
a subpart team. Anthony Edwards had twenty nine points, ten rebounds.

(05:50):
He had double double, but didn't shoot the ball fantastic.
He was three of twelve from three, chucked up a
lot of threes there in the fourth quarter that if
he would have hit even one of them, would have
built us enough of a cushion and we would have
been able to close out the game. But he couldn't
shut eight of twenty two from the floor. Not a
great shooting performance could have put it away at the end.
He also had a game winning float or attempt as

(06:12):
time expired in regulation, almost went down but didn't. So
he had an okay night, but couldn't get it couldn't
get it done in clutch time, which he usually does,
didn't this time. Rudy had five points, two or three shooting,
and on the defensive end, we still look way better

(06:32):
when he's on the court, undoubtedly when Julius Randall and
nazried are Biggs. Defensively still looks really bad, as I've
talked about before. But Opraen Shangun the Rocket Center, did
give Rudy Gobert, I mean, some work tonight. Shangun had
twenty two points, eleven assists, and ten rebounds. He had

(06:54):
a triple double tonight, and he gave Rudy some problems
down Lowry. He held his own. He actually came up
with a big block late in the game that probably
should have gave us a runout, score a bucket and
win the game, but we missed. We couldn't get it
done in regulation. Serudy Gobert an okay game. Got beat

(07:17):
a few times defensively, but also had a few big stops.
That's how it's going to go with him. Julius Randall,
he had twenty one points. It was fairly efficient offensively,
but the turnovers were bad. He only had three turnovers,
but they were bad, came at bad times, forced up
a few shots in, a few bad shots in some possessions,

(07:37):
and it just looks. It just looks awkward when Julius
Randall is on the court sometimes and it doesn't lead
to good offensive flow, which we lacked all game. It
was really bad. And Jade McDaniels finally was awful tonight.
He was awful. It looked like he had turned a
corner and started to play better this season. But man,

(07:59):
he was four of sixteen from the floor, one of
eight from three, and again just like Anthony Edwards, it
was Anthony Edwards and Jaden that had open threes. Down
the stretch. We had like a five point lead with
two minutes remaining. Anthony Edwards and j McDaniels at least
had two open threes or two open shots at least

(08:21):
and couldn't hit them. Would have put it out of
reach one. It's that game. But he couldn't hit anything.
It was a really poor game from Jade McDaniels, really
poor game from Dante Diven Senzo about average from the
rest of the starters, had a good bench game. So
I don't know where to go from here. We've lost
three in a row. We're now below five hundred, and

(08:44):
we turn around and play tomorrow night against the Kings.
We've played the Kings a lot, our third game against
the Kings, and we've won the other two. They've been close.
The Kings are pretty solid team, so it's gonna be
a tough one, and honestly, I don't really know where
to go. Mike Conley, I don't know if he'll be back.
Hopefully he will. He even if he isn't playing great,

(09:07):
he gets us into the offense and is kind of
a stabilizing force out there. But man, you got I
feel like you got to give the one takeaway I
can take from this game is our bench is great,
and you got to start giving Rob Dillingham more consistent minutes.
I don't want him out, I don't necessarily want need
to see him out here starting or playing twenty five

(09:29):
minutes a game, but he's got to have a role
on this team just because he gives us something different.
Even if he's not on, he gives us something different,
and it's frustrating to watch. Excuse me, but this team
is frustrating to watch, and tonight was no exception. We

(09:49):
go down big in the second half, crawl our way
all the way back to a lead, look like we
should close out the game, can't get it done, and
then fall apart again in overtime and lose by six.
Three game losing streak below five hundred, it's been frustrating.
