Speaker 2 (00:15):
Ted Switzler back with another Ted Talks Twins at Tlshores
on Twitter, Minnesota sportsfan dot Com, catching up from a
couple weeks now here without an update coming out of
the All Star Break, Joe Ryan and Byron Buckson obviously
highlighting the Twins contingent in Atlanta. The Twins had I

(00:38):
believe it was twelve games coming out of the All
Star Break and needed to win I believe seven of
them in order to go into the trade deadline and
leave July with a five hundred record. Clearly, they were
unable to accomplish that, dropping three straight series Colorado, Los
Angeles and Washington. Two of those three teams. Obviously, the
Rockies and Nationals are not very good Minnesota. Losing to

(01:01):
both of them really proves where this team is at
right now, and it's unfortunate, but they're just not a
good collection. Really forced Derek Falvey and Jeremy Zol's hand
and put them in a position where they must sell
on Monday, with rumors already circulating that they were going
to move on from at least the majority or who

(01:23):
they could of the impending free agents, that six pack
being Chris Paddock, Christian Vasquez, Harrison Bader, Danny couloam Tye France,
and Willie Castro. The first domino falls with Chris Paddock
going to the Detroit Tigers. Not a shock that Paddock
would have value. Yes, he has not been great this

(01:44):
year for the Twins. However, he has been healthy and
he can eat innings for a contender, of which obviously
the Tigers are the cream of the crop and the
al Central They've been one of the best teams in
baseball at different points this season. So he'll go over
to Detroit and look to stabilize the back end of
that rotation. They've obviously had some injuries. Jackson Job I

(02:05):
believe is out for the year. He'll join a rotation
that has both Casey Miz and Tark Schooble and they're
going to look to win the Ale Pennant. Paddock is
obviously going to move quickly the deal came together on Monday.
He goes with Randy Dobnak, who the Twins were able
to apparently include in the transaction as the Tigers went

(02:30):
and ate the salary about four point six million of
both of them remaining on those deals, but Paddock is
already listed as Wednesday's starter for Detroit. Minnesota has seven
games left with the Tigers the rest of the way.
It's likely that they'll probably see Paddock in some capacity
down the stretch. I would doubt he pitches in the
postseason as a starter for Detroit, but with the fastball

(02:54):
velocity having bounced back to where it is, I would
guess he's probably an option for the bullpen on a
twenty six man and postseason roster. He of course, will
just be the first of what hopefully or should be
multiple moves made by Falvey. The Twins front office is
really sat still and done nothing the last two three years,

(03:16):
and at this point there's there's no way that they
can't move the impending free agents, whether they whether or
not they look to move you know, Joean, Duran Griffin,
Jacks brock Stewart, Joe Ryan, someone like that. One of
the controllable arms that would be really where they could
get a significant amount of prospect capital in return. However,

(03:36):
if they believe in this cores being able to bounce
back maybe one more year, try and run it back
with some of those arms and a better bill of
health next season, it makes makes sense to keep some
of those guys. Bader looks to be certainly gone, Willie
Castro should probably both be gone or join him, and
being gone as well. Seems like Danny Coolham would have

(04:00):
a market as a strong lefty, and he's pitched well
this year. So Thursday should be pretty busy and I
guess exciting, depending on what side of the fence of
it you are on day. For the Twins. In the
Paddock deal, they get back a I believe it was
a nineteen year old Dominican catcher Enrique Jimenez. He was

(04:24):
at the Complex League and will head over to Fort
Myers for the Twins. He was in Lakeland, I believe
is where the Tigers Complex League is long ways away.
Catcher first baseman can hit for some power. Has has
shown a little bit better numbers this season than his
debut year, but not much to project on there at

(04:46):
this point. More of that salary dump. The Twins are
in a rain delay on Monday night or finish finish
the game in a rain delay on Monday Night against
Boston with wind rain weather coming down, trailing four to
three in the ninth Another ugly game in terms of
just capitalizing on opportunities as much as this season has

(05:09):
gone this way. They had a basis loaded, no out
situation and went strikeout double play to leave the inning
without a run. So that's really why they're in the
trade situation that they're in and really how they're gonna
have to operate moving forward. Obviously, next week's update post
trade deadline should be quite extensive, so we will catch

(05:32):
you then
