(07:14):
Probably bring it in. So.
And why? Where's the Taser?
Robes. Dry stone.
What? Dry stone.
OK. All right.
Just on his back, lower back. Dan, get a camera, start taking
some. Pictures.

(07:44):
Howdy just busted up my hand a little bit, but let me take some
photos of it first. I'm not exactly sure how this
happened, but he you got a cut as well.
Yeah. Yeah.
We'll get you bended and before you leave.
It's OK. No, you can come over there
before you leave. We'll just get your information.
I really appreciate you helping.Hey.

(08:05):
No. Problem.
But you know, I seen you guys needed you needed this.
He was he was strong. I'm glad I was able to help.
I'll, I'll, I I witnessed everything.
If you want me to, absolutely. Yeah.
We'll. Probably grab a statement from
you. OK, that'd be great.
Yeah. Come on, Paul.

(08:49):
I'm glad you're OK. I don't know if that's blood or
yeah it. Looks like you got escaped over
the phone with you like I did. Just the scrape hold your.
Hands out there too, OK, And then your your mic got torn up
too. That would be the reason why you

(09:10):
weren't. Able to get any.
Anything out we'll. Just get you cleaned up.
That's going to Steam. Yeah, he so he just shoved it at
my neck. So never mind he's.

(09:40):
Got a photo we've. Got photos?
You know, let's just get. Some statements, because we've
got to everybody there witnessedit, an old skin's getting fat.
So one thing I'm worried about is he's bleeding as well.
And we were, we were scuffling. So I don't even know how this
happened, but yeah, it was a drystone.

(10:04):
Should just be mid lower back. Yeah, maybe, maybe towards the
left side. OK, so.
You need need to go get checked out or it's if it's significant,
significant exposure would be any any blood to the eyes, mouth
or. I'm just worried that his blood

(10:25):
got in my blood. Extensive extensive blood to
your to open cuts but. So sorry, it's OK.
Still shrimp a little bit, yeah. That sucks.
That's an adrenaline. Done what?
Happens to all of us, I. Mean I.
Broke your radio? Yeah, he grabbed my radio, tore
it off and he took his phone andthrew my face.

(10:49):
I think it hit me in the neck soI don't.
You don't have, I don't think. I'm firing a major from it.
So what was he getting off the bus or something like what the
hell I don't. Know what's going on?
So as soon as I arrived, he was on the bus, everyone was out.
What was the call? I didn't even hear it because we
were on the phone with some other guy.

(11:43):
We've got that line there, that line there go.
Get go have medical disinfect and.
Chuck. I'm not.
Sure, we can try and call back. Got to work.

(12:04):
Leave it at 29 and you're at 10:36. 10-4 you can check.
Temper, temper.

(13:03):
29 What's the case number we? Don't have case number.
You guys going to run with this?

(13:42):
Yeah. We can.
OK, I'd appreciate it. I want to go get checked out if
he's he's bleeding on me. I was bleeding on him so.
Just fill us in on what you whatyou knew like coming in and what
what happened for you. And that way we can just
document that and. Obviously do a Sup as well.
So basically when I arrived, driver and I think a supervisor

(14:05):
was here and he just said he wassprayed.
He didn't, he didn't know what he was sprayed with.
And then he started, he grabbed the fire extinguisher and he was
just inside just spraying all around with the fire
extinguisher. And so I, I was outside.
I wasn't going to make contact at all.
He said no one else on the bus and he couldn't drive the bus.

(14:27):
So I was just standing out here waiting.
He. Jumped the drive themselves.
There's no other passengers. If there was other passengers,
I'm not aware, ask the driver that because they if there were,
they were already off when I gothere because no one else is on
the bus. He tried to get in the driver's
seat and he tried to take it, but driver said he's not going
to be able to take it. So when he realized he wasn't

(14:48):
going to be able to take it, he opened the door.
He came out. Oh, no, no, no.
First thing he he sat down, he just said F off.
And I was like, what are you, what are you trying to do?
What can I help you with? He's I'm trying to get home.
I was like, we're we're home foryou and we're just having a
conversation. He comes out and he puts he
start reaching in his in his pocket.
I said don't reach in your pocket.
He pulls out a cell phone and hestarts handing it to me and I

(15:09):
said, I don't need your cell phone, Sir.
And then he just takes it and chucks it at my face and I think
it hit me in the neck. I'd have to I guess that will
show my dash camera will show it.
And at that point I just, I justgrabbed and went hands on
dribble on the ground. You guys are outside of the bus
or on the bus? We're right here, right here.
So he walked off, approached me.As soon as he threw the phone

(15:31):
into the face, I grabbed him andI brought him down.
As soon as I latched onto him, he latched onto me.
I think he grabbed my radio at that time.
He just ripped it off. We went down on the ground.
I don't know how this happened, but this looks like it's
fingernails. I think it's his fingernails, if
I'm not mistaken. Looks like it.
So I think he he grabbed into mesomehow.

(15:54):
This I don't know, no idea but. Just hearing that was was there
anything else that happened withhim?
The driver and the other guy kind of helped out and we we got
him 82. Oh, sorry.
Beyond that, while we were trying to struggle with his
hands, he had a lighter in his hands and he lit it up and he

(16:15):
was trying to he was trying to move his hand.
That's when I dry stunned him. He was trying to burn us so as
well so. That lighter?
Yeah, yeah, OK, gotcha. So yeah, he had it lit.
I he had it in his hand when he came out, but I didn't realize
he had it lit. Yeah.
And then we were trying to get his hands on her so that can
then I tasted. Yeah, OK.

(16:35):
I'm going to go get what do you.Want to charcoal you?
Know get if you want. To.
Go go over there and sit down for yourself.
Maybe that from that right? Sorry, obviously to be damaged.

(16:55):
Stuff officer need to know how much it.
Would cost? Did he damage anything on the
bus? Do you know?
Just just. Just made it OK, OK yeah, right

(17:16):
now, so and like. So getting on a bus and spraying
a fire extinguisher, what does that constitute?
If he's trying to spray this dude in the face with it on top
of that. Did you talk to the bus driver?
He told me that he got sprayed. In the.

(17:37):
Face. I know that's likely to cause
injury, so. What do you want to call that?
I thought that. Was assault disorderly?
So I'm. Going with, that's what it looks
like. I just want his.
Interest. Sure do.

(17:59):
This. All right, let.
Me get my. Pad I've got 1.
Oh, no, no, sorry my. Notepad.
OK. His blood and tested to see if

(19:08):
OK so. Transported him to the.
Hospital. So Sarge is going to review that
policy and let us know. So I guess I'm just going to
hold down some. Band aids.
I'll go for a month so UTA. Pull you turn around UTA.

(19:29):
Back to another half an hour to wait, yeah?
OK. What is his info to wait to try
and get? This like.
Official statement. So we've done all the stuff like
that. Official statement from Yeah, I

(19:50):
mean, do you feel like. So we know what Hassler said
happened. You feel like you know what the
driver said happened? No.
Let's go talk to him and then. Talk to the other guy.
So. Yeah, yeah.
So when I had him on like that, he sprayed on me and the whole
air stayed in there. So I couldn't even see from this
side. OK.

(20:11):
And then I just so I'm sorry, we're going to leave right now.
Just sit down. And then he tried to grab the
can again. And then he came back and sit
down. And then that's when I called
since he said I need cops right away because I've just been
assaulted. And I took whatever was going to
answer him. And then he tried to cut a buck
again. And it's just kind of relaxed
when I leave right now. We went back and sat down next
to a lady that was on the bus, but she took up.

(20:32):
I just don't get off the bus going as he was getting too
close to her. OK, Do you remember where you
picked him up at? At the Walmart I was going South
N southbound and he got on the bus and he just stood on the bus
all the way around to got here. I don't know what I just got
around. She picked him up southbound.

(20:52):
Walmart. Walmart.
There had been one other woman on the bus when this all
started, though. She, she, she.
Got she saw everything but she was sitting on the front seat
and we we trying to just sit out.
So we're going to do right now. And we went back sitting next to
her and I just saw. Him Did medical already check

(21:13):
you out? No.
Do you want to? Just find quick note it's just a
spray that when I hit me he wentwell so blame me from this side.
Well, they may be. Able to like.
Rinse out your eye and stuff. Like that is outside and it's
there's no charge or anything like that.
Yeah, I'll take it. But yeah, it's decided.
On this, you know I can walk them over, OK.
Yeah, let's walk over there. Let's get you just checked out.
And then he's has some star aristium.

(21:36):
I don't. Know OK, OK, well, let's, let's
walk over. Let's talk to them real quick
and they can, they'll wash your eye out or something like that.
OK yeah, we'll talk to him. We'll talk to him.
No, we'll talk to him. He got sprayed with the air
duster in his eyes. He just want to just check him
out real quick. You might.

(22:16):
I mean all that is just compressed air be dry, you know,
if you get like a just air. Yeah, and the air couldn't come
out because it's straight. It's just like.
Can you see? Can you see OK?
It just feels dry. Yeah.
Honestly, what I would do is just put some eye drops in there
because basically what that air did, it just dried out all your

(22:38):
mucous membranes. So I would just get some eye
drops and if you start to not beable to see checked out, but I
wouldn't be true. All that it did is just get
distracted, so I would. Just get anything else.

(23:00):
What's that? Yeah.
Did you did you have your statement?
Yeah, yeah, OK. Did you put your information and
everything on there? OK, phone number, all of that.
OK, so just before just so I canmake sure because I'm going to
be writing a a report on this. So you pick them up at Walmart?
I was going South of them and ata Laking station.

(23:22):
I just come back this week and Idon't know, it was like weird.
I said he was struggling. I was going to cop but he was
just sitting in the back. So but when I talked to this
stuff, he's just been got up andhe's like we got close to me and
I like explained the other guy who got me by the young really
hard tried to Jack me out. I don't know.
And it's just kind of relax here.
I'm going anyway now. Got you.

(23:44):
OK, so nothing really seemed to provoke him, huh?
You know what's going to happen.Just happened.
OK. When did you grab the fire
extinguisher? I don't know.
We loved it because we wanted totake, we got off the bus and
then the bus was still on. Right.
And then I guess he took the driver's seat, he wanted to
leave, so that's when we shot itoff and everything.
Got you. OK.

(24:10):
That's when he called the policeand then you were hanging.
Out I called the police when he dropped.
The. First seat.
Gotcha. And as I need right my sisters
right away. But as you can see, UTA police
not even hanging. That was like 10 minutes ago.
I said you gonna call it was going to come and help.
I was going to come 1 and I justgot another to help me out.
Just stay close in case he closegets close to me again and you

(24:31):
check him down. Yeah, but the other he just said
no, we cannot touch him. We cannot touch him.
But he. Yeah.
OK, Well, I think that yeah, I got everything that I need here.
We've spoken. Hey, I've got a pretty good idea
of what's what kind of happened,at least from your perspective.
This guy over here, he was, he's.
A witness he saw every. He's a witness.
OK, cool. So I'll talk to him, all right.

(24:52):
All right, so just so you're aware, for him spraying you with
the fire extinguisher, he's going to be charged for a
separate count of assault? That's fine.
So that's fine, yeah, My son whispered.
This just. Sucks.
I don't. Understand, I don't understand

(25:13):
why he would set him off, but itsounds like you.
Guys don't see the cameras anyway, so the cameras out
there, they would just show up there what happened?
So I'm not pointed. I also want them to I sold them
on anything like that. Who do we contact to get the
footage from your? Camera.

(26:18):
Through my car. I just got to search you, all
right? You have anything on you that's
going to poke me, stick me, stabme?
Nothing like that. OK.

(27:18):
See anything you. Got anything sucked in your
boobs? No, I don't want to send these
coins flying. You got coins in here?
How do you know of? Here's something been going
around. I just don't want them to flying
all over the place. You want pockets over here, that

(28:17):
just feeling. All right, man.
Walk over to the left side of the car here.

(28:43):
Have you take a seat? Make sure those ancestor double
lock just so they don't. Yeah, I don't want those to
tighten up on you all. Right.

(29:06):
Double lock there. Just double locking these so
hopefully they don't tighten up on you.
OK, Really don't want them to beuncomfortable.
Get my finger in that one. Finger in that one.
Those are double locked. OK, I remember going to have you

(29:27):
lean back, so I put the seat belt on you.
If you had to keep to one side, I'd get it.
I know that sitting on handcuffsisn't fun.
So all. Right, you're good.
All right. You guys see all of this with?

(29:53):
This guy do you? See any of this?
You're step in this bag, we'll bring it with us.

(30:22):
Hey, Keith, I'm Sergeant Audison.
I'm not here to discuss any charges.
Good. Thank you.
Got back up and talked to the bus driver and when he he went
and sit back down, he's huffed it again and went stopped by

(30:44):
this lady that was on the bus. The lady called up or took off.
She's like, oh, I ain't doing this.
Yeah. And I, I just stayed right there
and finally this gentleman came up.
I got off the bus. And at what point did he grab
the fire extinguisher? After they shut the doors he got
a fire singer and started spraying everything.
He was in the seat to try to drive the bus out.

(31:06):
Of here so. Then he was just stuck in there
by himself and just grabbed the fire extinguisher and sprayed it
around on the Yeah and. Then when he got here, that's
when I opened the doors up and everything came.
Out. Yeah, it was fun.
OK Holy kid. OK do you have access to the
cameras for the buses or is thatdoing it with UK police?

(31:27):
Not got. Access to it let.
Me see if it's downloaded. Yeah, that'd be great.
Yeah. Thank you.
So did you hear his statement? No, I didn't.
So he's on the bus, suspect's sitting on the bus, He suspects

(31:48):
like this is my stop, this is mystop.
He goes up, grabs the bus driverby the arm, sprays him in the
face with the air duster can a couple of times, goes and sits
back down next to this gentleman, starts huffing the
can. They eventually he he gets off
the bus, bus driver gets off thebus.
They lock him on the bus by closing the doors and turning

(32:10):
the bus off. And at that point he grabs the
fire extinguisher just because he's in there and he can't get
off and he's there. So that's where the fire
extinguisher came in, OK. So.
But he got sprayed with the air duster and so.
OK. That guy's info's on there, so

(32:32):
you have that so. I took all four of us to take,
to take you down literally because he, he was strong.
He was. Freaking out he.
Wasn't putting his arms behind literally he took all four of us
to get him to exist. It was fucking.
Pumping air dusters is a hell. Of a.
Drug, I guess. Yeah, I'm glad I don't do.

(32:53):
That. Good for you.
Hello. So the last thing we need to do
is just get a beat on the video from the camera, which that guy,
either that or Utah will come and then the next step is going
to. Be.
We're going to take that dude toHoly Cross and get a blood draw
copy. We may have to type a blood draw
warrant for him if he doesn't consent, but we'll see what he's
done. So I took photos all inside the

(33:15):
bus. The fire extinguisher suspect
hands back Dave air duster the cigarette lighter that he was
trying to. Light while he was reassigned
with. Dave But I threw the cigarette
lighter away. That we can't book.
I would guys just want to. I think we're just interested.

(33:36):
You got photos of it, right? Yeah.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. His lighter, his hand.
I'm glad you can start spraying it with the lighter.
Yeah. That would have.
Been all yeah, that's a good point.
I was expecting him to do it though too because he got his
lighter in his hand. He's ready to I.
Don't think anybody's interviewed him yet, so make
sure you Mirandize him. Copy.
And then just say, don't know what happened today, so take him

(33:59):
over to Davis. I'm going to have Hassler go
over to Davis. I talked to him.
He's consented to a blood draw. I explained to him about the
significant exposure. He seems pretty chill and cool
about that. And he seems pretty, at least.
Willing to talk? Yeah, he's.
Pretty. Cooperative.
OK. So yeah, just make sure.
We're going to go get with thesedudes about the video real quick

(34:20):
and then we'll then we'll transport him.
Perfect. I think the I think Josh is
still here. So I'm going to take off on this
little fridge. OK?
Hey. Hey.
How's it going? So you have a duty in your car
right now, right? Yeah.
So what? What's our make sure?
That he's all right, right? We got we.

(34:40):
Can't. We can't lose eyesight at him,
right? We can go talk to him real
quick, conscious that the dude'sin your car.
We can't just put a dude in a car and just and then just walk
off because we have we're still responsible like right now that
we're we own that dude. Anything that happens to that
dude is on us right. So let's go talk to this dude.
Just asking about video we. Haven't really interviewed him

(35:01):
yet. We've got a new bulb that's
going to go over and Mirandize him and talk to him and
interview him and stuff. We're going to actually.
Take him over to the hospital because there's quite a bit of
cuts and blood exchange between. So we're going to take suspect,
go to the hospital and get a blood draw.

(35:21):
All right. Go that route so.
So I apologize, that wasn't any closer.
I was at the county attorney's office and two other guys on the
trains. Oh, it happens.
Do you have access to that videofootage?
I do. OK, Yeah.
We can go look at that real quick.
That would be great. Whose case is your yours?

(35:44):
What I will do I'll do an agencyassist for you guys since you
used for sama guy. Typically we would take
something like this, but it escalated too quick.
We are. Yeah, we.
Already we already got them so. OK.
And then I'll do a video request.
I'll get you, we'll look at it and I'll give you get you a
copy. Perfect.
Who's your suspect? France.

(36:06):
France. France and of course, really.
Funny. Yeah, that's funny shit.
I was gonna say. France when?
When they were. Running the name I was like, no
looking over there are you? Serious.
That's his name. That's name.
Well, that's what he's giving us.
Yeah, we can't. Is it really him or?
No. I mean, I'm not not the Keith
Branson, but this guy's name is the name Keith Branson.

(36:28):
That's what he's that's what he's given us.
He's gone downhill since. You're the Holy.
Cow man. I'll give you what he gave us
though. He really did.
Give us Keith Branson. Someone ought to reach out.
Man and David versus to be 360. That's nice.
He's date of birth. No, no.

(36:51):
I think Keith. Is probably.
A little older. Than me so he's.
Probably, you know, late 70s or.So we have we ran this guy.
Does he have any our? Spillman's down right now, so we
can't, so we're unable to. Maybe Salt Lakes is open?
Yeah, 34. Can you run one by name, date of
birth please? Last name Franson Fox RANDSEN

(37:21):
First name Keith 3/16/88 and it's not our former Keith
Francis. It's not our former.
All right. Alice's Day.
He was. He's with the.

(37:42):
What's his name? You like that?
Yeah, well, no, I don't. No, of course.
You don't, but. Yeah.

(38:03):
Yeah, it made a real mess of it,huh?
So. Yeah.
Fires your pain, you know she's.Going to snap some pictures real
quick as I walk. Yeah.
So once we do blood drop, can I start trying to get you down to

(38:25):
the jail? Because I I really.

(38:45):
Where is the fire? Oh, there.
Yeah, I think it's in there. 34 but for.

(39:13):
On my computer. Awesome.
And I'll see what kind of video we can get.
Awesome, sounds good. Where's the drive?
Say random he's -29 you. Probably want to keep an eye.
On that dude, just. Because with that huffing and
stuff, he was kind of shit. Do you have some kind of Ave. to

(39:35):
get this video from these dudes? He's he's.
Pulling it up, I can have an e-mail to me.

correctly does make sense right there.
Feels like pressure, like they're like, oh, is he at the
hospital yet? It's like, but stop and think,
do you have all the witness statements from everybody?
OK. Do you have the information of
all the people that are important or pertinent during
the case? Do you know who your main
players are? OK.
Do you have access to your videofootage or do you know how to

(45:37):
get it? Yeah, I got it.
You have an Ave. for that? So he's going to file the
request for me. So do you know?
What I mean? Like yeah, slow and just ducks.
In the row otherwise. You end up going down the road,
right? Yeah, that makes.

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
