In October 2009, 15-year-old Alyssa Bustamante lured her 9-year-old neighbor, Elizabeth Olten, into the woods near their Missouri homes. There, she strangled, slit, and stabbed Elizabeth—admitting later she did it simply to feel what killing someone was like
After burying the body in a shallow grave she had pre-dug, Alyssa returned to school as though nothing had happened.
A deeply disturbing diary entry, found during the investigation, revealed her premeditated fascination:
“It was amazing… as soon as you get over the ‘ohmygawd I can’t do this’ feeling, it’s pretty enjoyable.”
She pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and armed criminal action in 2012, receiving a life sentence plus 30 years, with parole eligibility set for 2059 under new Missouri law
