Speaker 1 (00:00):
The following is a production of the Pulse podcast Network.
Speaker 2 (00:12):
In this edition of the Playback, J Dog and CJ.
Speaker 3 (00:15):
Look back at the revenge game the Saint Louis Rams
battle the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on December eighteen, two thousand,
from Raymond James Stadio in Tampa, Florida.
Speaker 1 (00:53):
What's that adage about revenge siege?
Speaker 2 (00:55):
Is it?
Speaker 1 (00:55):
What best served on a dish served cold? Is that
the adage?
Speaker 2 (00:59):
Yeah? But I don't know what dish. How many dishes
can you think of that you eat cold?
Speaker 1 (01:03):
Well, here's the thing. They're in Tampa, right, Yeah, it's
it's in December of two thousand. Right, it's Rams Bucks.
It's gonna be pretty hot, isn't it.
Speaker 2 (01:11):
Yeah? Living in uh, living in in Georgia in December
was pretty hot. I know Tampa Actually, little fun fact,
Tampa hit one hundred degrees for the first time ever. Yes,
in this year.
Speaker 1 (01:22):
Press what the real field was?
Speaker 2 (01:24):
Yeah? I know, for real, I.
Speaker 1 (01:26):
Was in Tampa. The real field was one hundred and
two one day.
Speaker 2 (01:28):
Right, Like, the real field has gotten over one hundred.
Speaker 1 (01:30):
But the actual temperatures evan reached one hundred until this year,
which is crazy. There's the man Kurt Warner Hall of Famer.
Speaker 2 (01:37):
One of my favorite quarterbacks to watch growing up. Honestly,
even though I was originally a Patriots fan as a kid,
watching the like this Rams team is just so memorable,
like the Yes Bucks Rams.
Speaker 1 (01:50):
The Revenge Game, that's what they call it, because this
was the matchup between the Rams and the Bucks in
the NFC Championship Game controversially won by the Ram and
as you can see, their new uniforms, which I love.
Speaker 2 (02:03):
Another a couple of peers didn't we didn't. We talk
about this recently off the air. What is the color name?
Millennium goal, Millennium goal. I love that. Yeah, yeah, the
un these uniforms, I honestly missed them. I missed the
Saint Louis.
Speaker 1 (02:17):
Look, they should what I see it is this when
they moved to Saint Louis in nineteen ninety five. They
should have Oh my gosh, it's already picked off. Ye
is that Ronde Barber yep? Oh my god, the way
and there's a fight breaking out on the field. These
two teams didn't like each other. Orlando Pace, they didn't
like each.
Speaker 2 (02:36):
Other's Orlando Pace one of the best linemen.
Speaker 1 (02:38):
Hall of Famer.
Speaker 2 (02:39):
Yeah, this defense though, this early two thousands Bucks defense.
Speaker 1 (02:43):
Deeric Brooks, Larren Sap, John Lynch, Ronde Barber.
Speaker 2 (02:48):
Look at this helmet, Cam.
Speaker 1 (02:49):
What is this helmet? Cam's revolutionary at the time. Oh
is this the ref that's the word word, bring back
the Refcam.
Speaker 2 (02:58):
I'm all for that. That was a great pick. Rende
Barber hall of famer. You know what blows my mind?
His brother not a Hall of Famer.
Speaker 1 (03:06):
Currently, Tiki's not a Hall of Famer.
Speaker 2 (03:08):
And you know what I'm not. I mean, I just
kind the tracks. Yeah, he fumbled the ball a lot.
I think that was like his downfall.
Speaker 1 (03:16):
He I think he thought because he was going to
be a broadcaster, that that was going to be his
in a couple more years to get into the Hall
of Fame. Mike, You're in good hands with all Scott.
Sean King was the quarterback at the time. Sean King,
this was Trent Dilfherd left to go to the Baltimore Ravens.
Speaker 2 (03:29):
When the Bucks win the Super Bowl a couple of
years later after this, when they beat the Raiders.
Speaker 1 (03:35):
Who was the quarter who Brad Johnson? Brad Johnson, Yeah,
Brad Johnson was in Washington at this time he got
he had gotten Washington Washington to the playoffs the first
year of Dan the Fan, Snyder's year of owning the franchise.
Speaker 2 (03:48):
Was this like after the Gibbs era, Yes, because I
know Gibbs would come back and wore.
Speaker 1 (03:53):
Steve Spurrier would also arrive as well. So yeah, Keyshawn
Johnson of course, yeah, I remember of the Tampa Bay Bucks,
longtime New York football jet.
Speaker 2 (04:04):
Yes, yeah, Keishawn. He's not a Hall of Famer, is no? No, yeah, No,
he's like a Chris Collinsworth's worst enemy. Keishawn Johnson was
almost like a.
Speaker 1 (04:14):
He was a possessions receiver to me.
Speaker 2 (04:16):
He was like a like a discounted too almost or
like a you know, like he's not as like t
O is a Hall of Famer. Yes, like Keishawn, I
think he could maybe you could maybe make a case.
Speaker 1 (04:28):
But it's like you look at little Marty Grammatica.
Speaker 2 (04:31):
Did did was Keishawn Johnson on the team that won
against the Raiders? Yeah, he was on. So he does
have a ring. He does.
Speaker 1 (04:39):
He clashed with He clashed with John Gruden all the time.
This is the Tony Dungee Buccaneers by the way.
Speaker 2 (04:45):
Okay, yep, I like Tony D Martine, Grammatica, Gred right
down the middle.
Speaker 1 (04:55):
I was in TAMPAA recently.
Speaker 2 (04:57):
Dre BLI sorry seeing some names I haven't seen. No.
Speaker 1 (05:00):
Absolutely, this is this is my wheelhouse right here.
Speaker 2 (05:02):
This is when teenager, this is my wheelhouse. This is
when I got into football. Was like, I mean, I
was young here, but this was like when I was
first getting fully invested into football. So like I remember
a lot of these guys. You were saying you were
in Tampa recently, Yes, and went by this fine stadium,
Raymond James Stadium. I have been in this stadium, not
for football, for wrestle Mania thirty seven back in twenty
(05:26):
twenty one when it was the first ever two nights
live because the year before that was behind closed doors
during the pandemic.
Speaker 1 (05:34):
Yes, and they had taped it in advance at the
Performance Center in Central Florida, and that was a two
night as well. However, you couldn't attend unless you were
an employee.
Speaker 2 (05:42):
I've also been to Raymond James. I went to a
EDM festival in Tampa and it actually it was a
there was like a thunderstorm, that caused us to have
to evacuate and move into the stadium, like into the
ramps of the stadium to like get out of the
rain and stuff like that.
Speaker 1 (06:00):
Well we had we had when the when WrestleMania started
Night one, we were under a storm watch. They had
for the first time ever WrestleMania was under a storm watch,
and they had the big over the big jumbo tron
that you had to evacuate and get under the the
the like the concourse tunnels. Yeah. Yeah, so here we
are like, oh jeez, this is gonna happen, But it did.
(06:23):
It did, and uh Marshall Fault by the way, Hall
of Famer. And also he was two thousand NFL MVP.
Speaker 2 (06:30):
He was.
Speaker 1 (06:30):
This is his two thousand NFL MVP season.
Speaker 2 (06:32):
I'm pretty sure he's on like the cover of like
Madden two thousand or it was like two thousand and one,
one of those two Yeah, I think it was like
one year was him and one year was Eddie George
or something like that. But this was his like prime,
like him absolutely, Like maybe Tory Holt was that Tory
Holt runs in Oh my gosh, yeah, he could have
(06:56):
had I mean, I don't know if he gets the
first down there anyways, but I.
Speaker 1 (06:59):
Think he makes the catch, but he'll be just short.
Speaker 2 (07:01):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (07:01):
Well, here's the thing. If you're just short, you put
Marshall fulkon there on that fourth you're going for it.
Speaker 2 (07:06):
So so in a way, so unfortunate. Imagine if that
was picked another pickoff, like if that got picked because
he fell over, Yeah, that would have been controversied.
Speaker 1 (07:19):
Mike Martz, by the way, the head coach, because Dick
vermil had retired.
Speaker 2 (07:22):
And this is pre Jeff Fisher, Yes, yeah it is.
That's picked off Dexter mccleon. Yep.
Speaker 1 (07:33):
Very underrated defense the Rams had. They don't They never
talk about that. They were able to because the offense
was I understand, Yeah, it's run Fletcher. Defense wins championships.
Offense makes headlines. And remember one of the greatest stops
in the history of the game was the one yard
short in Super Bowl thirty four.
Speaker 2 (07:53):
Who is it Kevin Dyson for the take?
Speaker 1 (07:54):
Kevin Dyson almost yep, yeah, the chosen ones and then
didn't it.
Speaker 2 (08:00):
So one of my favorite things, I think we discussed
this on a playback before, but one of my favorite
things is, like back in the day, on Super Bowl
Sunday before the Super Bowl NFL Network or like the NFL.
Speaker 1 (08:19):
Yeah, like they were during Steve we were talking about
Steve Saible. That was last week's edition.
Speaker 2 (08:22):
Right, they would do they would do like the old
movies like with the for like every super Bowl or whatever.
I don't know how to like describe it, but NFL
films essentially, Yeah, and they would they would do all
the classic super Bowl and they would have like a
compilation of like a mashup of all the best highlights
(08:43):
from every super Bowl. And I just remember, like that
Kevin Dyson, like when he rolls over and he's just
one yard short. It's like one of the most iconic
super Bowl moments ever. It's like thinking about that moment
just makes you think, like how crazy of a sport
it is.
Speaker 1 (09:00):
They're gonna, you know, if they're gonna find they're gonna
find a way to ai John Facenda.
Speaker 2 (09:05):
Unfortunately, they do it with everyone like they there's your first.
Speaker 1 (09:10):
Well there you go. Isaac Bruce Hall of Famer, by.
Speaker 2 (09:12):
The way, Yeah, I know, this offense is incredible.
Speaker 1 (09:14):
Tory Holt not a Hall of Famer at press time,
should be a Hall of Famer. I concur I wholeheartedly agree.
Now we saw the statistic of Kurt Warner doing awesome
and dome stadiums or turf and then not so well
touchdowns interception ratio wise on grass. He changed that uh
monakery is he gets sacked war in sap he changes
(09:37):
that moniker when he goes to the Cardinals.
Speaker 2 (09:39):
Was he uh was it Canadian football or Arena football? Yeah,
so that that checks out. Like he plays better indoors
because he came from and the league where it's all indoors.
Speaker 1 (09:51):
He did play for the World Football League though, when Yeah,
what was it like the Frankfurt Yeah, something like that.
Speaker 2 (09:59):
I think I have one of his, Yeah, I have,
Like some of the NFL world I one of the
players I've gotten to meet in my lifetime. I met
Rohann Davy if you know who that is, backup quarterback
for the Patriots back in the late ninety you know,
And I met him at like a football camp when
I was like seven years old or so. And I
have one of his like NFL Europe or World League
(10:21):
cards or whatever it was called. What a catch? This
this offense is just incredible.
Speaker 1 (10:29):
Ricky pro Hill another underrated guy. Ricky pro Hill was
a long time Phoenix Cardinal. That's how long ago though?
Of course, this is when the Saint Louis Cardinals. I heard, uh,
the Saint Lois Rams.
Speaker 2 (10:41):
Rather, I heard a clip between Bill Burr and Rich
Eisen recently and Bill Burr referenced the Phoenix Cardinals. He
was like, I remember back watching the Phoenix Cardinals.
Speaker 1 (10:52):
You know when they started as the Phoenix Cardinals when
nineteen eighty eight, what were they before the Saint Louis Cardinals.
Speaker 2 (10:59):
That's right.
Speaker 1 (11:00):
You had the football team and the baseball's team both
share Busch Stadium. That's crazy, yep. And they were the
same name, same name. That's weird it is they both
played at old Busch Stadium.
Speaker 2 (11:12):
Well they was like that was it like that with
the Giants too? Originally when the Giant, like the baseball
team was in New York. Yes, like it was like
the Giants and the Giants.
Speaker 1 (11:20):
Yeah, the New York Football Giants in the New York.
That's why they say New York Football Giants to like
disassociate from the New York baseball Giants Polo Grounds. Yeah,
those New York Giants, the football ones played at Yankee Stadium, right,
not at the not a polo grounds, although I mean
they did play football.
Speaker 2 (11:39):
I say they probably could have. It looked like a
football field. It's built like a football field. Marshall fall
Marshall and Marshall Marshall. Look, that's the greatest, Like Marshall
Marshall really like revolutionized Berman's like career. Like Berman was
good before mar maral fault came around, but then when
(12:02):
he was able to just hit the Marshall Marshall Marshalls,
Berman stepped up another level. He became elite, like he
became like Hall of Fame worthy instantly when he did that.
Speaker 1 (12:11):
Look at the score bug Rams Bucks instead of like
STL TVB.
Speaker 2 (12:16):
You know, I love this score bug the like classic
early ABC one and I used to love because they'd
have this one and then they would throw on like
the Christmas lights under it for Christmas.
Speaker 1 (12:26):
Yeah, or Halloween would have a Halloween theme, or Thanksgiving
would have a I mean.
Speaker 2 (12:29):
They do that still, but I like this old school
one because I remember it just makes me feel nostalgic.
Speaker 1 (12:35):
Or Grandparents' Day they'd have a grand I'm just kidding.
Speaker 2 (12:39):
If the Rams win, we demand a recount.
Speaker 1 (12:43):
I think you know where they're going with that, right,
Why don't you in the four thousand presidential election, I
assumed erect because this is December, and then the election
that happened in November.
Speaker 2 (12:53):
So well, it's good to know that things haven't changed
that much.
Speaker 1 (12:59):
The more they do, the more they don't. Yeah, Rams
Bucks right here two thousand. Again, this is I'm a
senior in high school when this is happening. Monday Night
Football has some really exciting games in this two thousand season,
despite you know, Dennis Miller being on there. And again,
I want to preface this. I actually I've met Dennis
Miller on the radio on the air, and again I
(13:20):
liked having Dennis Miller here on Monday Night Football. A
lot of people did not. Though he only lasted two
years two thousand and two thousand and one.
Speaker 2 (13:29):
So far, he seems fine to me. But the thing
is is we've had some bad like play by plays
and common Tower action analysts. Yeah, like we've had some
bad voices in the booth in the past, like ten years.
Speaker 1 (13:48):
On Monday Night Football are just in general.
Speaker 2 (13:50):
In general, but also on Monday Night Football, a lot
of the names that they.
Speaker 1 (13:53):
Can't get it right, just esp it for so they
can't get it right.
Speaker 2 (13:57):
I'm not a big like Booger McFarlane fan, but we
talked about that, right, But I like when Booger does
college football. I think him and like he works with
Jesse Palmer sometimes and touch down. I think that they
work together really well. Marshall Falk bringing it in, he's
holding onto the ball. The ref I think tried to
take it. He said, no, we're going to see a sharpie.
(14:20):
This is the SHARPI era, like, we're right as well, right,
you know what I mean. We're getting into the sharp era.
Speaker 1 (14:26):
Don't inflate it, don't infloot, don't you.
Speaker 2 (14:30):
But what was I saying before before the commentators, Yes,
the commentators. I feel like in the past ten years,
you know, like I said, Booger McFarlane, not a big
fan of him on Monday Night college football he does
like the halftime on ESPN, like during college Game Day
and stuff like that or whatever. I think he does
a great job there and I think in the in
the studio he's a lot better. I feel like he's
(14:53):
gives a lot of good insight. But like doing like
color commentary or play by play, like.
Speaker 1 (14:59):
He doesn't do play he's the next analyst.
Speaker 2 (15:02):
I just feel like when he's when he's trying to
respond to something live, it's not I don't know, I
feel like he doesn't get his message across as well.
And same with like you know, we've had like Jason
Witten in the booth, we had I'm trying Ryan Greasy,
Brian Greasy. I forgot Grease. He was in the booth
and he.
Speaker 1 (15:18):
Was didn't It wasn't what it didn't work. It didn't work.
I'm not gonna say I didn't like or didn't like.
Speaker 2 (15:23):
Right like I think Grease. He's a great guy, great quarterback,
and didn't work. Yeah, I just not my favorite commentator.
Tony Dungeye, we're talking about him right here. He's on
the screen. Uh. He does the pregame now and then
to BC right, and I think he's a great place
for pregame. I wouldn't want him to do.
Speaker 1 (15:39):
I think that's the idea at some point, is to
put him in the booth.
Speaker 2 (15:43):
I mean maybe, but I think Dungee's in a good
spot work done yep, talk about an underrated running back
didn't go ahead, didn't have to go far when he
was drafted out of college.
Speaker 1 (15:52):
You know where he went to, right, No, but I'm
assuming like USF Florida State, Florida State. Yeah, he didn't
have to go too far to Tampa war Done didn't
get the ring. By the way, really, what was he
traded before? I believe he either left as a free
agent or he was traded. Who was their backup?
Speaker 2 (16:09):
That was? Was it like TJ something or like who
is his backup? Well?
Speaker 1 (16:13):
The full back of course was Mike You're good hands
with all start so yeah, but they the a train
Mike Alstott, but they had there's a speaking of which, yeah,
getting to carry don't have a starting line of action.
Figure the last true good full back like the not
actually is not even good, the last elite full back
(16:37):
in my opinion, it was Mike You're in good hands
with all Stott.
Speaker 2 (16:39):
We haven't had a like people try to like claim
use check and Patrick Riccard like a couple of fullbacks
that are in the league.
Speaker 1 (16:46):
Now, today's fullbacks they're just not utilizing. I was going
to say, they're not used often as opposed.
Speaker 2 (16:51):
To where like you can say a good full back,
but it's like how often is he getting the ball?
It's like maybe once a game. It's like if he's lucky.
Speaker 1 (17:01):
I just love that both Marshall Fulk and Warick Dunner
running backs, and we're the number twenty eight. And have
you noticed as well? You see what the Bucks have
for their apparel this year on this season in two
thousand as their jersey, right.
Speaker 2 (17:13):
No is it yback? No?
Speaker 1 (17:15):
They have Adidas and the Rams have Puma.
Speaker 2 (17:19):
That's weird.
Speaker 1 (17:20):
Puma for two years in the NFL in nineteen ninety
nine and two thousand had apparel deals with certain teams
like the Tennessee Tits. So it was the Puma Bowl
when the Titans and the Rams hooked up.
Speaker 2 (17:30):
Little you want to know a fun fact about current
day jerseys. So right now in press time, Yeah, that
looked gross.
Speaker 1 (17:38):
Warick dun'sknee got jacked up. He got up from that,
he did, but yeah, it looked gross. Though, the jerseys
of the jerseys of today are Nike, correct. I think
they're Nike Vapor since twenty twelve combat something. And I
just saw a video last night Keishawn Johnson with an
absolute gimme the damn.
Speaker 2 (18:01):
The video was showing that. Did you know the packers
like if you buy a Packers jersey online. This you'll
actually find this interesting because your Packers fan, you got it.
The Packers jerseys online are the Nike jerseys. But did
you know on the field they use a different jersey.
They're the only team in the league that has a
different jersey, and they they source their jersey creation out
(18:25):
to a local apparel company. They said they don't want
to use Nike jerseys, They'd rather source it out themselves.
But where I'm saying, and they use they still they
send it to Rippin' in in Wisconsin. In Wisconsin. So
on the field they don't wear Nike.
Speaker 1 (18:41):
They do, but they don't. The swoosh is on there.
It has to be on there.
Speaker 2 (18:45):
I you, I would beg you to.
Speaker 1 (18:47):
I would ask you to look it up because because
you have part of the apparel deal is you have
to wear the you can't wear like say, all right,
let's say that there was like a spare Rebok jersey
in the stands and someone couldn't do it.
Speaker 2 (19:01):
Yeah, but I am pretty sure it does not have
the Nike logo. It does. I would look it up.
It does because I the way it was presented to
me is it does not. It does because it's it's
locally made by a local company that has no affiliation
with Nike, and there the uniform is designed differently, the
neck is designed differently, the mesh is different from all
(19:23):
the other jerseys in the league because it's not Nike.
Like the Nike logo is on the collar on.
Speaker 1 (19:29):
All the other jerseys, but on the Packers jersey it's
the NFL shield.
Speaker 2 (19:34):
Hang on you already, here we go. There you go, Yeah,
here you go. You're right. It is on the shoulder,
but it is. You have to.
Speaker 1 (19:47):
It's it's part of the deal.
Speaker 2 (19:48):
It is locally sourced to rip in like athletics or something.
You know, you have to.
Speaker 1 (19:52):
It's that's that's the big deals. The apparel. They that's
a big deal. You have to wear what they've all
And the Patriots had Adidas for a couple of seasons
because they all went Rebok in oh one.
Speaker 2 (20:06):
That was part of the deal.
Speaker 1 (20:06):
Because certain again, certain teams like the Packers had Nike
in two thousand, from ninety from the ninety seven all
the way to two thousand season, they had Nike.
Speaker 2 (20:15):
Right and then it was when they went to when
they so Green Bay went to Reebok and they wore Rebok,
and I think it was after Rebok when Nike came
back they didn't want to go to Nike. Yes, when
they they didn't want to go back to Nike for
their uniforms. They wanted to like locally source them because
they didn't like the design or something they wanted their
players to have, like a certain uniform or something like that.
(20:38):
The game's been trucking along. We've been discussing some jerseys.
Work done, absolutely, it's what we do here. On the
playback carrying up the rams and he's going to score again.
Weren't there? Eighty two yards? What a good cause to
the house? Yeah, classic Marshall Faulk. It's work done.
Speaker 1 (21:02):
That was Dennis Miller to Dan Fouts. It's classic Marshall Fulk. Yeah,
well it's classic word done, dude. That's funny. I like
the Christmas Pirate.
Speaker 2 (21:13):
We're week sixteen here, so this was the final week
of the game, final Monday night football of the season.
It's crazy to see how intense the game is, thinking
that it's week sixteen. This has to be like, is
there some like all ballots count it?
Speaker 1 (21:31):
See if Baltimore beats the Jets next Sunday, Tennessee will
have to win.
Speaker 2 (21:37):
I was trying what I was about to say. I
was wondering if he was going to answer it, if
this game had any like Okay, so that's literally as
I was saying that, al Michaels answers my question. The
winner of this game gets automatically into the playoffs. Automatic
(22:01):
spot into the playoffs. Yeesh. So there that answers my question.
I want to know if there was any like level
of significance to this game. Obviously it's there. They don't
like each other, it's a revenge game, whatever, But I
didn't know if there was like playoff stipulations on the line,
because again, the Bucks were in the NFC Central at
the time. But that's weird.
Speaker 1 (22:18):
Green Bay, Detroit, Minnesota, Chicago. The Rams were in the
West with the forty nine ers.
Speaker 2 (22:25):
See, but that makes a little bit of sense just
because Saint Louis is Midwest like and now they're LA.
They used to be LA like. I can kind of
get that Tampa in the Central. It's weird. That's why I.
Speaker 1 (22:36):
Said they made these division change. Yeah, I mean that's alignment.
They only had three this is two thousand. They only
had three divisions, East, Central, and West.
Speaker 2 (22:44):
Like it's baseball pretty much.
Speaker 1 (22:45):
They had six teams in one division in the AFC
Central at one time. La Grinch was a big movie
at the time. Jim Carrey, that's funny. Yeah, the the Central,
that's weird. I'm not a fan of that.
Speaker 2 (23:01):
I like the divisions we have now, but I mean
those are going to get moved around eventually.
Speaker 1 (23:05):
When oh, what was that Tory Holt Again, No, that's
not Tory Holt, that's it's a Keem.
Speaker 2 (23:18):
That was That was an ugly, ugly catch. After the
first quarter, Bucks had nineteen rushing yards rams fifteen that's surprising,
lots of passing the Rams. I'm surprised didn't have more
passing yards cause it's like the Bucks only really have
like Keyshawn as like their top receiver. Their running game
is more of the correct Yeah.
Speaker 1 (23:40):
And that Keyshawn Johnson was was told that, Look, it's
not like it is in the Jets, where Viny Testaverdy's
going to get you the ball thirty times. They got
Mike Alstott, like for a reason, you know, like you
have Warick done, you have Sean King who's a running quarterback. Yeah,
and you have Ricky pro Hill right there, and you
have Michae all start for a reason.
Speaker 2 (24:00):
I see the Puma logo say that you were talking
about Yep, yeah, Mike Alstar. Like to me, it's like
if you have a guy that's like a perennial elite
like fall back, and your team uses him, use him
like they're gonna use him. So it's not like they're
not going out of their way to like try and
get Keisha on the ball. But he's good enough to
(24:21):
get open to get the ball and as long as
Sean King can get him there.
Speaker 1 (24:25):
The apparel deals for the jerseys in two thousand or
as follows ready, Nike, Adidas, and Puma.
Speaker 2 (24:31):
That was it.
Speaker 1 (24:32):
Some teams had Nike, some teams had Adidas, some teams
had Puma primarily. I believe that they were Nike.
Speaker 2 (24:39):
The uh the one thing I want to say, Kurt Warner,
this dude can just sit in the pocket.
Speaker 1 (24:45):
Like yes, like he learned that in an arena.
Speaker 2 (24:48):
Football just has no fear to just sit there and
like two step drop Like this drop was literally like
one to two and then he just stopped. Yeah, most
quarterback now I feel like they're trying to hit like
a five step drop and create this big play. And
that's why you're seeing offensive linemen have to either block
better or they're just getting these young quarterbacks absolutely destroyed. Yeah,
(25:12):
because the court, the teams are trying to set up
all these fancy plays and it's like there's just no
pocket passers anymore. Look at Joe. Look at Joe Flacco
to start the season almost beat the Bengals because he's
still just got the staple, tried and true pocket passer,
just like the parking bark is what they like to
call it.
Speaker 1 (25:30):
Woof Yeah, not give be the This is the first
of our two thousand, not gonna be the last. Two
thousand was actually a really good Monday Night football season,
despite the controversy of having Dennis Miller as the guy
as so.
Speaker 2 (25:48):
After this year, like how long did Dennis Miller stick around?
Two seasons? So was this his last season?
Speaker 3 (25:55):
No?
Speaker 1 (25:55):
First season, this was his first? Two thousand one would
be his last. I remember watching a Packers Jaguars game
on Monday Night Football in two thousand as well, two
thousand and one.
Speaker 2 (26:07):
Rather Yeah, I was gonna say, when did they come
into the league. Was it ninety nine.
Speaker 1 (26:11):
Or two thousand, the Jags, no, ninety five. Really both
the Panthers and the Jacks started in ninety five.
Speaker 2 (26:18):
Oh, what was it the Texans that came in in
like ninety nine or two thousand.
Speaker 1 (26:21):
Two thousand and two. That's why the realignment happened.
Speaker 2 (26:29):
Isaac Bruce, Isaac Bruce and Tory Holt. That's got to
be one of the best, like one to two punch
wide receiver combos. Ever, like the the Eagles my favorite team.
They have, you know, one of the best in the
league right now with Devonte Smith and AJ Brown. There's
(26:50):
other ones you can obviously point out, you know when
Rashid Rice and Xavier Worthy or healthy.
Speaker 1 (26:56):
I guess like both of them, Antonio Freeman, Robert Brooks
and Green Bay during the far Via.
Speaker 2 (27:00):
But I wouldn't even think them like. I would think
more like Donald Driver in Antonio Freeman or like something
like that, like because Driver was was the big guy.
Speaker 1 (27:09):
Or well Brooks Robert Brooks getting hurt opened the door
for Antonio Freeman to become the guy.
Speaker 2 (27:15):
Yeah, and then but I'd also think like behind like
around like Tory Holt and Isaac Bruce. I'd probably put
like Randy Moss and Chris Carter. Correct, probably one of
the top ones out there.
Speaker 1 (27:27):
This is not the last Monday Night game of the season,
by the way, because a week seven, Oh yes, that's right,
it was Dallas at reigning defending undisputed AFC champion Tennessee.
Speaker 2 (27:40):
And was this what's oh, this was the Giants Ravens year. Correct.
Speaker 1 (27:46):
So the Bucks, the Bucks, I believe, did not win
the division. I think the Vikings won the division.
Speaker 2 (27:52):
That's so weird, Like, that's just so weird.
Speaker 1 (27:56):
I actually remember another classic Monday Night football game. We
may do sometime in the near future, not this future
of twenty twenty five. Denver at Saint Louis was the
opener to Monday Night Football in two thousand. That was
the last two reigning, last two champions of the of
the Super Bowl. Because he had the Broncos in the
(28:17):
ninety eight season and he had the Rams in the
ninety nine season and folks walking in.
Speaker 2 (28:22):
Yeah, Marsham Marsham Marshall, he looks, I mean what an
incredible player, like truly one of the best players I
ever got to watch, Like I of all like on
all of time and space. The entire timeline of the universe.
(28:42):
I landed perfectly to watch Marshall falk run a touchdown
in just to witness greatness like he to me, he's
the Barry Sanders almost of like well that early two things.
Speaker 1 (28:55):
Like Barry Sanders, Marshall fulk has a ring.
Speaker 2 (28:57):
Right and he, like I, Marshall didn't really retire early
like Barry. Everyone thought Barry most people folks Barry like
hung it up early.
Speaker 1 (29:09):
He did know he did know even most people. No,
he did. He did hang it up early. No.
Speaker 2 (29:13):
Why because the Lions wouldnt let him go.
Speaker 1 (29:16):
No, because the lines are he was getting sick of
the lions having to carry them on.
Speaker 2 (29:19):
His back the way he did. Yeah, and he wanted
to get to win a championship the But Marshall to
me is just one of the greatest running backs.
Speaker 1 (29:33):
Where would you put him on? Like greatest running backs
of all time? He hasn't been talked about as much
as of late for some weird reason. I don't and
I don't know why do you think? Like I don't
think he's top five?
Speaker 2 (29:43):
You don't think he's top five? Where would you put
Lindanian Tomlinson? Is he top five? No? What? No? No,
I was gonna say, I think Marshall is better than
lt even though l he had the touchdown record, Like,
I just thought Marshall was a better running back. But
(30:05):
the fact that you don't have Lindanian, Tomlinson or Marshall
Fulk in your top five is crazy. You better not
say Sean Alexander. No. Yeah, I was gonna say, if
you don't know, he's not my top twenty.
Speaker 1 (30:17):
I was gonna say, if you don't put those two
in the time, well, I can tell if you're not
putting those two in the top five, I'm curious of
who you got.
Speaker 2 (30:25):
Is Emmett Smith number one?
Speaker 1 (30:27):
No?
Speaker 2 (30:28):
Is he top five? Yes? He's top three? Okay, yeah,
what about like, I know you're not big on bo
just because his career was short. Yeah, not that he
wasn't talented, It just didn't didn't have a career. He
didn't baseball. Yeah, well, where would you put Like let
(30:49):
me start asking some other like where would you put
like Derrick Henry?
Speaker 1 (30:53):
Not righty yet, I can't put current players?
Speaker 2 (30:56):
Okay, Okay, we won't do we won't do current players.
Then he's making he's making a case. I mean, yeah,
he's making a case. He's incredible. Derrick Henry is probably
the best like active running back. I mean, Saquon is
also very talented, but I don't know, well, yeah, it
doesn't exactly. And but the other thing is Saquon just
(31:18):
gets fed the ball. Like Derrick Henry almost the league.
He doesn't get as many touches as Saquon had more
touches than anyone last year. I'm trying to think of
some other running backs, Like where would you put like
Eric Dickerson.
Speaker 1 (31:35):
Probably top ten, top ten? Yeah, what about AP or
a d all day ad Yeah, ap, Yeah, I would
probably put him.
Speaker 2 (31:51):
It's tough. That's tough, right, like he maybe he maybe
top twenty. Well, you're not making he's not. See our
list must be different. We're gonna have to do a
list of of our You.
Speaker 1 (32:02):
Haven't even asked me my number one.
Speaker 2 (32:04):
I know because I'm trying to. I'm trying to kind
of guess it. But we're gonna have to do a
top twenty running backs list and post it on social
because I'm curious now to see where you're at. Who
is your number one?
Speaker 1 (32:17):
It's either Jim Brown, Jim Brown and or Barry Sanders. Okay,
I respect both of those.
Speaker 2 (32:24):
That's so, that's like you're one two basically on a
good day, you'll just figure out who is. Yeah, Earl Campbell.
Earl Campbell was one. I forgot. I forgot to mention
when I was thinking of Eric Dickerson, I was thinking.
Speaker 1 (32:36):
Of Earl Billy Simms. Billy Simms, he was number he
was number twenty in Detroit before Barry Sanders was.
Speaker 2 (32:43):
Yeah, and now no one knows who Billy Simms is
because Barry Sanders rewrote history.
Speaker 1 (32:50):
And BS number twenty, BS number twenty and is weird.
Speaker 2 (32:54):
That's crazy. That's why it's It's almost like the Aaron
Rodgers Brett Favre like compares how they like both played
for the Packers for exactly like sixteen seasons.
Speaker 1 (33:06):
They both went to the Jets. I know, like that
was like extremely weird, Like that was weird. So my
message to Jordan Love, Okay, when you get older, lay
off the conspiracy theories in hyahuasca.
Speaker 2 (33:20):
Instead of fifty iowasca.
Speaker 1 (33:22):
Yeah, and don't get traded to the Jets, if anything,
get traded to the Giants.
Speaker 2 (33:28):
Well. The other thing too, is like before the Vikings
signed h Sam Darnold this season, Rogers wanted to go
to Minnesota too, which would have been even weirder. Yes,
like that would have been like all right, stop, like
what's going on here?
Speaker 1 (33:42):
It would have happened under one it would have happened.
If one thing didn't happen. What if JJ McCarthy was
drafted by the Patriots last year instead of.
Speaker 2 (33:52):
The U two years now? I mean or no, was it?
Because yeah, I'm thinking of this year's draft. Sorry, so
technically two draft to go. Yes, yes, last year's draft, though.
Speaker 1 (34:03):
It would have happened because the Vikings would have had uh,
they would have gone on with Sam Darnold and then
had them just move on when move on elsewhere and
then have Rogers. So basically, basically the Vikings would have
had a rental for two years. Yeah, two different rentals.
Speaker 2 (34:20):
They didn't take Rogers. They didn't take Rogers this year
because they didn't want They don't need a long term quarterback.
They need like they have their they have their long
term they're not looking for a rental.
Speaker 1 (34:34):
Essentially is whatever they're here for a long time not
a good time. I'm not sold on JJ McCarthy.
Speaker 2 (34:40):
Yeah, now that we're now that we're discussing it, Why
don't we just discuss, like, what are you what were
your thoughts on on JJ and Kleb in week one
and any anything that you want to mention here that
stands out. Not that you know you can catch our
thoughts on bet this, of course, but if you wanted
to bring up anything now, now.
Speaker 1 (34:58):
Now is the time is to do that, even though
we're watching Monday Night Football Classic Monday Night, Well.
Speaker 2 (35:03):
You could we could talk about this week's Monday Night Football.
How was like? What were your thoughts on Monday Night
to open the season. How was JJ's first night to you?
What was it? What were your impressions?
Speaker 1 (35:15):
I'm not again, I'm not sold on either one. I'm
not sold on JJ McCarthy. I'm not sold on Caleb Williams.
Speaker 2 (35:20):
Are You're not just you're not buying any sock or
you're selling any stock.
Speaker 1 (35:24):
I'm not selling any stock.
Speaker 2 (35:25):
I'm gonna You're gonna sit tight.
Speaker 1 (35:27):
Sit tight, play the market, have Jordan Love do what
he needs to do. Yeah, I mean, I obviously you're
a you're a Packers fan, so you don't care about
either of them. But well it's not that, it's just
we've been through this before, where the Vikings think they've
got the guy and then they don't. The Bears do
this all the time.
Speaker 2 (35:44):
Do you think JJ McCarthy is going to do the
Sam Darnold thing and and just be part of the system, Like,
do you think Kevin O'Connell will still carry the Vikings
to a decent record?
Speaker 1 (35:54):
Yes, I think Kevin. I think Kevin O'Connell is a
good coach. But again, I think he's a good coach.
Is he a great coat? Because you know what great.
Speaker 2 (36:01):
Coaches do win championships?
Speaker 1 (36:02):
And guess what the Minnesota Vikings are incapable of doing
winning champion?
Speaker 2 (36:07):
Yes, I think I'm not out on I mean J. J.
McCarthy had an impressive fourth quarter, but I might be
selling stock on the Bears, like I wasn't big on
Kleb Williams coming into the league. I like to think
that I have a decent eye when it comes to
college football and being able to check talent and see
who's got it and who doesn't. Anyone who's a real
(36:29):
college football fan that I've ever discussed college football with,
like people down South, they know you can see when
someone who plays college football, even if they're gonna make
it to the NFL. You can tell who's going to
be a bust and who's going to be like a superstar.
Like I didn't know about Jayden Daniels, Like I'm not
gonna claim I did, but just watching him, I can
(36:52):
tell now like he's got it obviously every most people can.
Speaker 1 (36:56):
Yeah, Okay, so well the grumblings with LSU is usually
really good offense, right, and some really good defense. You
look at Joe Burrow, yep. So I think there was
just kind of the hype train.
Speaker 2 (37:06):
But there's also there's been other quarterbacks to come out
of LSU that have not been good. Correct, And that's
kind of another thing too to recognize if you're ever
curious about how people scout and things like that. Uh
Like Notre Dame, for instance, is notorious for being a
quarterback college, but their quarterbacks that they've ever put into
(37:28):
the NFL, like almost all of them have always, at
least in this millennium since two thousand pretty much all.
Speaker 1 (37:35):
Do you name a USC quarterback that's.
Speaker 2 (37:37):
That's ever done anything. Yeah, Carson Palmer. It's probably the
last USC quarterback that I could that was a long
time ago, and he didn't win a Super Bowl.
Speaker 1 (37:45):
No, almost almost like he was. He was a good
quarterback close. You know, you know what team is closest call?
Speaker 2 (37:51):
Was? Right? Was it the when he was with the Cardinals?
Speaker 1 (37:53):
Yeah, when they got routed by the Panthers and the
NFC title game?
Speaker 2 (37:56):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (37:56):
And then wasn't the next year when Kurt Warner came in?
Speaker 2 (37:59):
No? Or was it the other way around?
Speaker 1 (38:01):
This is this is not you're you're conflating the timeline here.
Speaker 2 (38:04):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (38:05):
Yeah, the two thousand and eight season when the Cardinals
went nine and seven, was Kurt Warner because Kurt Warner
had left the Giants because Yahli Manning, yes became the guy.
Speaker 2 (38:14):
Yes. Yes.
Speaker 1 (38:15):
So when did Carson Palmer go to Arizona Because he
went to Sincy and then to Oakland and then to.
Speaker 2 (38:21):
Arizona tw tens.
Speaker 1 (38:22):
Yeah, back when they were the Oakland Raiders, folks, not
the Las Vegas Raiders.
Speaker 2 (38:28):
I actually think they uh touched down to Kishan and
then Johnson.
Speaker 1 (38:34):
The Bucks had the lead now that the Rams rea
rather the the Rams had the lead.
Speaker 2 (38:39):
Yes, the Bucks take them take the lead. Yeah, jingle
my bells. Nice sweatshirt. Thou was in two thousand love
that the uh the Arizona Cardinals with Carson Palmer. Actually
there's a like an Amazon Prime you series if you
(39:00):
ever get the chance to watch it, it's kind of good.
It's similar to like Hard Knocks, but it's not, uh,
it's not called Hard Knocks. It's I think it's called
All or Nothing. It's like an Amazon Prime original, but
it's the same concept. They follow the Cardinals around for
a season and it's the year I think Carson Palmer
it's like his last year or something. They had like
(39:22):
Tyrane Matthew on the team as a rookie. I think
he got hurt. Larry Fitz was on the team.
Speaker 1 (39:27):
Still trying to think of some other players, like who
the running back was, I can't remember.
Speaker 2 (39:34):
But that was the first. Like I'm not a huge
Hard Knocks fan, Like I don't really get into Hard
Knocks like that, but like the All or Nothing, like
the Amazon Prime version, I liked the way they did
that a lot better just because it was after the season.
It was like the next year, so it was like
(39:55):
you got to see in how the Cardinals did like previously,
and so it's not like as intrusive and all the
episodes are there.
Speaker 1 (40:03):
By the way Melissa starts she started on Monday Night
Football throwback.
Speaker 2 (40:09):
Now she's on Sunday Night. Yeah, isn't she on NBC now? Yeah? Yeah.
Speaker 1 (40:15):
Well, the thing is, it's like all these broadcasters and
stuff just bounce around.
Speaker 2 (40:18):
They didn't at the time, No, they didn't.
Speaker 1 (40:21):
Absolutely. Yeah, they've got so many chance. It's like it's like,
so you're talking about Amazon Prime. They've got the they've
got Thursday Night Football, right, and they've got like, well
they've also got like three or four broadcast teams.
Speaker 2 (40:31):
Yes, they do. Like, is that a fumble? Rooski did
the Rams fumble forward pass?
Speaker 1 (40:38):
Okay, uh, this is pre tuck rule too correct.
Speaker 2 (40:48):
Well, he tried to Actually, yeah that should that should
be a penalty because the lineman touched it first, like
he's trying to shovel it to.
Speaker 1 (40:57):
Doing the far shovel pass, which only one person can
do that, Mahomes. No, the FARV shovel pass. It's called
the farv shovel pass for a reason.
Speaker 2 (41:07):
Yeah, but I feel like Mahomes got the shovel pass down.
Pat like that little move they the little move they
do with Travis when they have like some plays Warren
seven again, Oh my gosh, Warren Sap laying laying, Kurt
(41:28):
Warner flat Warren Sapp burrutal player, Barrew till play.
Speaker 1 (41:35):
Where did he go to college?
Speaker 2 (41:37):
Is he from the U? He's from the U. Who
was his teammate at the U? Wasn't it? I could
be wrong? Well, I mean there's probably a lot of
good teammates on that team. But was he on the
team with ray Lewis? Yes? Yeah, is that the one
you were thinking of? Yes?
Speaker 1 (41:49):
And who was ray Lewis's teammate before that?
Speaker 2 (41:53):
Was it the Rock?
Speaker 1 (41:54):
Dwayne the Rock Johnson?
Speaker 2 (41:55):
Yeah, the U.
Speaker 1 (41:56):
I almost said the Rock first instead of ray Lewis.
Speaker 2 (41:58):
Did you know.
Speaker 1 (41:59):
Stallone went to the U? I didn't know that he
went to the U briefly when he private school in
Switzerland because of his Rocky script. He got an honorary
degree as long as he could turn in the Rocky
script to the university, and he did, and that's how
he was able to get him nice Yeah, hell yeah,
a Rod was going to go to the U.
Speaker 2 (42:19):
By the way.
Speaker 1 (42:22):
He got drafted out of high school Westminster Christian.
Speaker 2 (42:25):
The little football camp I did when I was younger,
the one I talked about earlier, was called offense defense camp.
You can probably look it up and find old pictures
and stuff. And we stayed at Brown University in Rhode Island.
Speaker 1 (42:38):
Chris Boomer Berman went to Brown, by the.
Speaker 2 (42:40):
Way, Oh cool. I didn't know that they've got like
a good journalism program, so that makes sense. The anyways,
while we were there, we did like mini games at
the end of the week, so it was like a
week long camp. We stayed at the university in the dorms,
and at the end of the week we did like
a scrimmage against people in our same age group, and
(43:02):
there was kids from like seven years old to high
schoolers like getting scouted.
Speaker 1 (43:07):
For like college and stuff like that.
Speaker 2 (43:10):
And my coach was former New York Giant football wide
receiver a Moni Tumor. His dad was my coach, and
we played for the U that was like our team.
So when we ran out on the field in front
of all the other teams and stuff, we did the
U when we ran out of that. It's pretty cool.
And I played. It was funny. I played center my
(43:31):
whole life. I was like the center on my team,
but I always wanted to be like a skill position player.
I got offered to play quarterback when I was like seven,
and I said I'd rather be center, and then like
I immediately regretted that, and I was like, damn, it would
have been cool to be quarterback as I was.
Speaker 1 (43:48):
I was the same way in baseball, third base or
first base, where I wanted to I should have done catcher.
I really should seah, I.
Speaker 2 (43:54):
Played catcher in baseball, I remember, But so I played
center in football. And then when I got to this camp,
they ask you about what position you play or whatever,
and my dad was like, when we went to the camp,
my dad was like, when you get there, you tell
them you play tight end. I was like okay, and
he's like, we're gonn tell him you're a full bag
and a tight end.
Speaker 1 (44:13):
You're not snapping the ball anymore. And so I went
to tight end camp all week and I like crushed it.
Speaker 2 (44:17):
But I was also like a foot shorter than literally
every other tight end ouch and I was like, I
was young too, but I was still I'm short, Like
I'm I'm in irl, i am five to seven. I'm like,
I'm not the tallest person, and I'm the tallest person
in my family. I've reached my maximum height. I'm not
(44:38):
going any taller. But even then I was very short
compared to everyone else.
Speaker 1 (44:44):
But it was cool suit compared to others. Yes, that's
three times now.
Speaker 2 (44:49):
Yeah, I know the game has been cruising along. We've
been just giving some good commentary, just hanging out and.
Speaker 1 (44:57):
Again this is going to be what fifteen more weeks
of this and we've got more classic again two thousand games. Yes,
Mike Martz was not good with the clock management, by
the way.
Speaker 2 (45:07):
It wasn't like a lot of coaches back and now
it has Edward was good with the clock either. That
helped people like understand when to take timeouts and things
like that, Like nowadays coaches will take timeouts pre two
minute warning that never happened back in the day. Look
at this another Keyshawn Johnson touchdown.
Speaker 1 (45:28):
King got that was that might be my favorite call
so far al Michaels.
Speaker 2 (45:32):
And King got buried as he threw it down. Damn
m Sean King. What a throwback. I like, honestly forgot
he was even a guy. I forgot that he was, Like,
he was actually a decent quarterback.
Speaker 1 (45:49):
Wasn't the future, by the way, No, he thought he
thought he was the future.
Speaker 2 (45:53):
No, he he reminds me of like an Aaron Brooks,
you know what I mean, Like, maybe not the same place.
Speaker 1 (45:59):
You mention that, because Aaron Brooks and the New Orleans
Saints weeks later beat the Rams in the playoffs in
the wild card round. Really the first ever in New
Orleans Saints playoff victory. Really they didn't really go to
the playoffs a whole lot back. Yeah, but it's now
twenty four to fourteen with a minute to go in
(46:19):
the first quarter, Keishawn having again rather first half, first half?
Do you think he'll make the Hall of Fame ever? No,
really polarizing, he just see but t O's in the
Hall of Fame talking about polarizing.
Speaker 2 (46:35):
He has the stats. That's true.
Speaker 1 (46:36):
If you run your mouth, you got to back it up,
and you don't back it up enough because you know,
Chris collins Worth's mortal enemy is Keishawn Johnson.
Speaker 2 (46:47):
See why is that? Though?
Speaker 1 (46:49):
Back in the nineties when rather when Chris collins Earth
was studio for NBC, they think they got into it.
So because give me the damn ball was the name of.
Speaker 2 (47:02):
Silence, the Ram, Silence of the Rams, Silence of the Rams.
I didn't even see that that's funny.
Speaker 1 (47:08):
Okay, when he was a rookie, because you know where
he went to college, right to USC Oh Okay, I
think I did know that he got drafted by the Jets, right,
so his philosophers give me the damn ball. And I
do remember that Collinsworth wasn't big on it. He goes
because well again in the book he trashes his teammates too,
(47:28):
so but he went Collinsworth was on inside the NFL
and like week to week would trash Keish every chancing.
Speaker 2 (47:39):
Oh see, I don't know. I feel like Kishan if
he's got a ring, I feel like he kind of
deserves to make it, not just because of the ring,
but like he's a solid wide receiver for a long time.
One of the he's the possessions received. Yeah, but what
do you think about, Like do you think like is
Chado Chosinko in the Hall of No? Do you think
(48:01):
he'll make it? No? You really don't know. He ran
out of gas towards the end.
Speaker 1 (48:06):
He he almost became like a creation again. He was
a talented football player and I love calling him. He
was a fat head.
Speaker 2 (48:13):
You remember fat head?
Speaker 3 (48:14):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (48:14):
Yeah, he was big on that and there was a time,
brief time in the two thousands where he was the
best wide receiver in football.
Speaker 2 (48:20):
Yeah, he was like Prio cho Cinco when he was
just Chad Johnson. Still he was, yes, incredible.
Speaker 1 (48:26):
Let's look at the Cincinnati Bengals and how embarrassing of
riches They had Carson Palmer, Chad Johnson like they had
they had it, TJ. Houshman, Yeah and TJ. Who's your MoMA?
And he was like he was like a role player.
He's not like a superstar. He had the makings because
(48:47):
they complimented each other. Well, he was good too.
Speaker 2 (48:50):
He was almost like a like a good T Higgins,
like like a yeah, maybe like a Tyler.
Speaker 1 (48:55):
And then he became Chad Ocho Cinco. He got injured.
The hype train didn't add up. You really don't think
you have a journeyman? What about I'm trying to.
Speaker 2 (49:05):
Think of some other good players that were in the
league around this time that don't get thought about. That's halftime.
Speaker 1 (49:09):
We are at the half in Tampa.
Speaker 2 (49:11):
Bay, twenty four to fourteen. Bucks are up rolling right
back into it. This dude, The the effort the fans
are putting in for this game is incredible. The amount
of signs, the people with face paint, the.
Speaker 1 (49:25):
Chris Again, it's holiday season two, so I kind of
they're kind of doing as it's it's a football game
party atmosphere on top of the holiday season.
Speaker 2 (49:34):
Yeah, and the football here is just violent. Like that's
the other thing.
Speaker 1 (49:40):
Box were just they they prided themselves on defense, as
you saw against the Raiders and the Super Bowl.
Speaker 2 (49:45):
Yes, they were. They are like this defense is stacked.
Why they're yes, why they were able to get that
Super Bowl. They should have gotten more super Bowls, but
that's moving coaches around, and obviously they had to do
with the Patriots and they had to. NFC was tough too.
The Eagles made it to like a record setting like
(50:09):
NFC championships back then. They were going to like a
ton but they would just lose. Andy Reid could never
get it done.
Speaker 1 (50:14):
That was the thing. Andy Reid couldn't win the big one.
Yeah in Philadelphia.
Speaker 2 (50:18):
Yeah, and you you mentioned, uh, you mentioned what is
it Matt's the like marts?
Speaker 1 (50:26):
Thank you not good with clock management. And you also,
by the way.
Speaker 2 (50:29):
I was gonna say, Andy Reid, that's that's the first
thing I thought of this time when I said most
coaches like struggled with time management. I first thing that
I thought it was Andy Reid. There's so many times
I watched that man run out of time on the
goal line going for it like on fourth and goal,
like eight times, not taking a time out, just making
dumb calls.
Speaker 1 (50:47):
Like Martz would also overshoot the runway with the replay system.
What I mean by that is he would throw the
red challenge flat.
Speaker 2 (50:53):
And lose a lot.
Speaker 1 (50:53):
And lose a lot too, So which is that I
remember if it costs you a time out.
Speaker 2 (50:58):
And it's at a second chance or a third a chance,
yeah yeah, third challenge yet, Yeah, And it's like that's
huge too, Like if you can win both your challenges
and get that third challenge, it's like you it just
helps your team. You're giving yourself better chances to win.
Speaker 1 (51:15):
Whereas in baseball I saw this too in Tampa where
there's speaking of Eric Dickerson.
Speaker 2 (51:20):
There he is, wow, ye.
Speaker 1 (51:21):
Pulling out all the stops and he's down here in Tampa.
Speaker 2 (51:25):
Yep. Was he working for a BBC ABC? Yeah? Oh,
I didn't know they.
Speaker 1 (51:31):
Replaced Lynn Swan. I think Swine doing college football, so.
Speaker 2 (51:34):
Yeah, see, I don't remember Eric Dickerson couldn't have done
that for long because I don't remember him. Yeah, I
was about to say, I don't ever remember seeing him
on the side.
Speaker 1 (51:44):
You're not going to confuse him with arman Kata drink.
Don't spit your beverage out.
Speaker 2 (51:49):
Okay, I was taking a sip of Moeah Palmer.
Speaker 1 (51:52):
Yeah, is that they're calling it now? The old a
P that's AP right there. Yeah, that's not a little
you know, little room ho ho and a bottle of room.
You know, we're watching a pirate game right here. That's
as pirate as we're gonna get.
Speaker 2 (52:07):
Folks, by the.
Speaker 1 (52:07):
Way, where we are not pirrating this stream. We want
to thank the NFL's YouTube channel for showing this, for
bringing this to our attention. The Revenge game back in
two thousand, the second to last game of the two
thousand season on Monday Night Football, not the last on
this edition of the playback, and not the last from
two thousand. This is the first one we have of
two thousand. We've got I think at least two or
(52:29):
three more to go.
Speaker 2 (52:30):
I'm excited from two.
Speaker 1 (52:31):
K as I was saying, Now, managers in baseball, I
saw this when I was in Tampa. They will look
in the dugout to see if they have a challenge
because they.
Speaker 2 (52:41):
They're on top of it. Yeah. Well that's the thing.
Speaker 1 (52:44):
I saw Steve Vote of the Cleveland Guardians try to
do a channel or look in the dugout because I
saw him. He was piers pierced out of the dugout right,
because I had good seats. Nice and as you well know,
and Steve Vote would look and as King gets sacked.
Speaker 2 (53:02):
Yeah, he gets to become a common theme the Bucks
offensive line not holding up all of a sudden. Yeah,
I feel like he's gotten sacked a couple of times.
Speaker 1 (53:11):
Vote, we'll look right, Yeah, and he'll do this ye
to the MP should say maybe.
Speaker 2 (53:16):
I'll check his ye wait a second, Yeah, he wants to.
Speaker 1 (53:18):
Get the amps attention.
Speaker 2 (53:20):
Yeah. And then because he's waiting to get like a
call basically for someone else to say, let's yeah, like
send it, let's I think we've got that. Yeah. It's
the same thing in the NFL nowadays too, but it
wasn't as prevalent back then, like and again.
Speaker 1 (53:32):
It was this is only the second season of.
Speaker 2 (53:34):
Oh what a tackle. I don't know who that special
teams player is, but he just earned himself an upgrade.
But yeah, the you were saying, this is only the
second year with the challenge, and it's like.
Speaker 1 (53:51):
Yes, now, instant replay. They did instant replay I think
for one or two years in the nineties, but they
didn't have challenge flags or anything like that.
Speaker 2 (53:58):
Yeah, the challenge flag. Like again, if you can win
both your challenges, get the third one, like keep your timeouts.
It changes the game as opposed to you lose a challenge,
you don't get a third challenge, you lose a timeout.
Speaker 1 (54:14):
That's on them too, on the coaches, they're not seeing
the game.
Speaker 2 (54:16):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (54:17):
Again properly, if you have a bad record of throwing
the flag, stop throwing the flag.
Speaker 2 (54:22):
Yeah. In baseball, if you get caught stealing all the time,
you know how you stop doing that. Stop stealing. Stop stealing.
Marshall Falk baby, oh John Lynch with a hit stick.
Speaker 1 (54:34):
I also remember, by the way, if you if you
recall the Seattle Seahawks, Uh, what was it, I think
they had played Let's see, they the Seahawks had played
the Rams. Again, these weren't division rivals at the time.
This is when they were in the AFC. They moved
(54:55):
to the NFC until the Texans Beginny Marshall Falk played
the Seahawks one time in Seattle at Washington Stadium because
the Seahawks Stadium was being built to come out No.
Speaker 2 (55:07):
Two.
Speaker 1 (55:08):
So two thousand and two thousand and one the h
were the seasons that the Seahawks the cannon, but it
goes for not Yeah, he just uncorded cannon. I loved
Warner's arm. Oh, and he looked make it. It made it
look effortless too. What was it the sideline had, because
(55:30):
it was field turf, the sideline had like what do
you call it, like gravel.
Speaker 2 (55:35):
Bees or something like that. Gravel bees.
Speaker 1 (55:39):
It's basically just gravel that gets in here. I gotten
to Marshall Fulke's eye his eyes, damn. Yeah, are you
talking about like the little like rubber stuff that that's.
Speaker 2 (55:48):
In there whatever? Yeah, that got in his eyes.
Speaker 1 (55:50):
Yeah, one year, it was either two thousand or two
thousand and one.
Speaker 2 (55:54):
Brutal. Yeah, I do remember the Seahawks being in the AFC.
I forgot about that until you just said something. Yeah,
that's a throwback. How is that not a horse collar?
Or maybe? Well I guess he let go. But wasn't.
It wasn't. I was gonna say, when was that? I
remember that penalty didn't exist for not until the late.
Speaker 1 (56:11):
Two thousands, after the Terrell Owens with Philadelphia.
Speaker 2 (56:15):
Was that it was that late?
Speaker 1 (56:16):
It was that impetus in two thousand and four when
he got hurt.
Speaker 2 (56:18):
Wow, Yeah, he really is. That's what I'm saying, like
world's most elusive runner. You wouldn't put him top five.
Speaker 1 (56:32):
As the years have gone on. He just he's been
so forgotten and there's that there's there might be a
reason for that. So he's certainly not a top five
in New England Patriots folklore because he still moans and
whines about Super Bowl thirty six. Yeah, I think he
has a legit right by the way.
Speaker 2 (56:52):
I mean, I don't know.
Speaker 1 (56:54):
Oh, if you got cameras and you're seeing the walk through,
probably not probably not legal.
Speaker 2 (57:04):
I mean eight, we plead the fifth here in New England.
I'm not a fan. I'm not a Pats fan, but
I'm I'm also not gonna say anything because I don't
know the decision was made, the game was played, the
result was the result. Because they didn't know, I know,
(57:24):
they didn't know they were being spied on. That's all. Yeah,
I I I have nothing to argue, no counter argument.
I'm an Eagles fan, that's all I'm gonna say. He's not.
He doesn't.
Speaker 1 (57:39):
He doesn't want this to be part of the interruption.
Speaker 2 (57:41):
Apparently, I don't want to. I don't want to ruffle
the feathers. I mean, I feel like, by the way.
Speaker 1 (57:46):
Three more years, three more years, I know, more years.
Speaker 2 (57:50):
That's exciting.
Speaker 1 (57:51):
Yep, I a part of the interruption. The thing is
this was pre part of the interruption.
Speaker 2 (57:57):
I understand Marshall falk is upset, but Tom Brady won
six more Super Bowls. Another intercept? Is that a pick? Yeah? Yeah,
it's a pick? Wow. The bucks are going wild, The
fans are going wild. Did you see the guy standing
on the handrails? Oh? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (58:19):
And again this stadium is only three years old at
the time. Came out in nineteen ninety eight. Where did
they play before that? They played at Julihan Stadium. They
called it the Sombrero. Chris actually no, Chris Boomer Berman
would call Hulahan Stadium the Sombrero.
Speaker 2 (58:38):
Told Jay's he's got the best nickname. He does him.
Speaker 1 (58:42):
Here's Tony Dungee.
Speaker 2 (58:44):
Berman Hall of Famer. Right, Well, would you put Berman
in like the broadcast Hall of Famer?
Speaker 1 (58:50):
Of course I would? Why how could I not? Would
you give me a second career? Do you think that
Jay convicted of arsenal? How great is that?
Speaker 2 (58:59):
Do you think is that? Do you think Boomer will
get in like a certain sports hall of Fame?
Speaker 1 (59:06):
I think he's in. He's already in the Brown Sports
Hall of Fame. He's already in the like.
Speaker 2 (59:09):
I mean, like, will he make it in like the
Baseball Hall of Fame? No, because he he did baseball
doemetary but not like long enough? But so do you
think he'll make it in the NFL Hall of Fame?
There is no NFL Hall of Fame? You mean the yes, yes,
you think I'll make it in as like a sports voice.
Speaker 1 (59:26):
No, no, he'll he'll get in. There's a broadcasting wing.
He'll get in.
Speaker 2 (59:30):
Right. I didn't know if it was like a color
commentary wing or something like that, because he didn't I
mean he did color commentary, he did, he did.
Speaker 1 (59:39):
No, he was a studio host for football, right NFL?
Speaker 2 (59:43):
Well, he's done like some games, I'm pretty sure, but
like not like.
Speaker 1 (59:46):
I don't recall him ever doing an NFL game? Really,
when did he ever do an NFL game?
Speaker 2 (59:50):
I thought he's done, Like I thought, I've heard him
cover a game at least once. But I could be wrong.
I don't know. I know, I like because obviously he's known.
Maybe a game and I'll see if I can try. Remember,
I can't think of one. I'm just saying, I feel
like I've heard him do a game. But I again,
(01:00:14):
what was that play that he caught it in the
end zone and got out? That's the big play of
the game. See, but I think so you think Chris
Berman will make it in? Is he already? Is he
in in the Pro in the profile? Is okay?
Speaker 1 (01:00:36):
You know, I think he actually is in the Pro
football Go ahead and show. I could have sworn I
saw him wearing that that that gold coat. So Chris
Boomer Berman, Yeah, I'm pretty sure he's in because again
he got I think he got in, you know, as
a brock.
Speaker 2 (01:00:54):
He certainly again as a player.
Speaker 1 (01:00:56):
No he's not, He's not, okay, I think he will
get ins.
Speaker 2 (01:01:00):
Oh wait, no, just kidding. It says he is not
in the Hall of Fame as a player or coach. Yeah, obviously, no, kidding,
but he has been honored by the Pro Football Hall
of Fame with the Pete Roselle Radio Television There you
go see de Schwam for his contributions to professional football broadcasting.
(01:01:21):
He's a legendary sportscaster, known for his long tenure at
ESPN and hosting the Hall of Fame and shrine and
ceremonies for decades.
Speaker 1 (01:01:29):
So play by play, I don't ever recall a time
for him doing.
Speaker 2 (01:01:33):
That, because I'm going to look him up right now.
Oh that was close. Yeah, he was not never did
play by play. I just thought I had heard it, Like,
(01:01:54):
I just feel like, for some reason I saw him
do it once. But I was wrong. Happy birthday, Dollphace.
The great mic work going on right there. Happy birthday Dolphace.
Ooh that's a good tackle. His knee could have buckled too.
(01:02:14):
It's it's crazy the amount of injuries, like the injuries
we have nowadays are different from the injuries that they
had back then.
Speaker 1 (01:02:22):
Games faster, which is hard to believe. It's so hard
to believe.
Speaker 2 (01:02:25):
But it's it's just wild because not as many a
cl tears back then and and things like that. Of course,
going from turf and going from grass to turf changed.
Speaker 1 (01:02:39):
That a lot as well. Astro turf at the time.
Yeah again that was astro turf.
Speaker 2 (01:02:44):
Yes.
Speaker 1 (01:02:44):
Field turf is different and better for your legs, yes,
whereas astro turf is like it's like a rug and concrete.
Speaker 2 (01:02:51):
Do you know, by the way, a little fun fact. Yeah,
let me. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure
sure that Brett Farv was the last quarterback to play
on like a grass field in the NFL. I'm pretty
(01:03:11):
sure because wait, wait what because grass field? Yeah, most
stadiums use turf now, they don't use actual grass anymore.
Speaker 1 (01:03:20):
And I'm pretty sure Brett Favre was like the last
player who actually played on a grass. I'm pretty sure
lambeau Field has grass. It's not turf, it's not turf. No, no,
it's on the offense.
Speaker 2 (01:03:36):
It's also a hybrid grass turf system.
Speaker 1 (01:03:38):
Okay, if you want to, if you want to look
that up, look it up, because I just looked up
Lambos was Brett Favre the last player to play on
a grass an all grass, all natural grass field. Although
I've been told if cows don't eat it, it's not natural.
Speaker 2 (01:04:00):
I typed in Brett and I forgot to type in
five and it was like George Brett.
Speaker 1 (01:04:04):
Yeah, he didn't play he didn't play football, he played baseball.
What was the thing that two tend to go in
the third quarter? It's a twenty four to fourteen lead
from the.
Speaker 2 (01:04:19):
I'm getting mixed stuff here because this says that there
are still like four or five teams that use grass fields. Yeah,
the Cardinals, the Ravens, the Bears, the Packers, the Chiefs
and the Steelers. But the Packers, we just looked up
use a hybrid turf grass system. Can't trust ai. I
know there was I'm gonna have to look it up.
(01:04:40):
I'm gonna have to find it. But it was like
he was the It was like something like he was
like the last guy to play on like the all
grass field or something like that, because now stadiums use
like turf grass hybrids and stuff like that.
Speaker 1 (01:04:55):
This was this whole thing of the Rams being good
was total accident.
Speaker 2 (01:05:01):
Yeah. I mean, well, Doug Kurt Warner came out of
a grocery store like they because who was the starter
before him? I have no clue.
Speaker 1 (01:05:08):
Trent Green, who got hurt in the preseason.
Speaker 2 (01:05:10):
I forgot about that.
Speaker 1 (01:05:12):
Okay, this is what the Rams did.
Speaker 2 (01:05:13):
He was bad with the Rams. He didn't even really play. No,
he was good with the Rams yet.
Speaker 1 (01:05:19):
No, not like he was with Kansas City. When he
was with Kansas City, who's electric. Well, here's the thing.
Trent Green comes into essentially bat for the Rams when
when Kurt Warner hurts his thumb. So as a result,
Trent and Green comes in and it's the same offense.
Speaker 2 (01:05:37):
So he knows the job. So because the idea.
Speaker 1 (01:05:40):
Was Trent Green and Marshall fulk because Marshall Fallck leaves Indianapolis,
yes to go to the Rams, Yes, and they draft
Tory Holt Isaac Bruce is already there suffering because the
same So everything place correct, It wasn't. It was by
total accident. And I remember because Dick for Meal liked
(01:06:01):
to cry. I understand that he was an emotion He's
an emotional guy.
Speaker 2 (01:06:04):
I get it. No, I get it. Uh, Dick for
Meal is fantastic. And again, ooh, that was close.
Speaker 1 (01:06:13):
He goes because he ended up crying during the press
conference because Trent Greens and he got shattered. In the preseason,
it was we will rally around Kurt Warner and we
will play good football. And sure enough, once the nineteen
ninety nine season began, no one saw it. No one
saw it coming. They ended up moving, you know, they
(01:06:33):
have not moving they Ye, the Fox ended up having
four fifteen, four, four to twenty five prime time games
at the trans World Dome in Saint Louis, something they
never would have done. It would have been just okay,
ho hum. They're the Saint Louis Rams where they're gonna,
you know, play the Carolina Panthers and lose, and they're
gonna play a one pm game, and no one cared, no, no,
they they came out of nowhere.
Speaker 2 (01:06:55):
See. But that's why I'm saying, like you're saying, Trent
Dilford or Trent Green Marshall falk have a day, Yeah,
have a night. Yeah. The Rams getting it back into
you know, shouting distance. It's gonna be twenty one, twenty
four hopefully here in the second after the pat the
or do you go for two? No, you just go
(01:07:16):
for one. Make it so you can tie it up
with a field goal. You still got a whole quarter left.
Have faith in your defense.
Speaker 1 (01:07:22):
The Mike Mars were talking about, Okay, Marshall.
Speaker 2 (01:07:26):
Fuck, are you kidding me? Yeah? The but you're saying
Trent Green was good with the Rams, It's like, yes
he was, yeah, but how good was he was? It
was it him being good or was it because of
the talent around him? Because he was good in Kansas City,
you know what I mean? But like he couldn't he couldn't.
Speaker 1 (01:07:44):
And who was his head coach at Kansas City when
he was having those good years? Was it Dick fire
Men came out of retirement to coach once again?
Speaker 2 (01:07:54):
And I mean they had talent in Kansas City to
the running back Corps. Was the Priest Holmes? Yeah, they
had Priest Holmes and I was Trent Green there for
the for the what's his name, Jamal Charles days? Was
I believe he like right?
Speaker 1 (01:08:07):
Like that was towards the end, I think, yeah, Jamal Charles,
there's a pole hog.
Speaker 2 (01:08:12):
Yeah that well, he's like a fantasy god.
Speaker 1 (01:08:15):
I was going to say, yeah, you know what though,
in this in this day of TikTok, I bet kids today,
I think he's like the greatest thing ever. We're done,
We're getting it done. That was an awesome run. Yeah,
the Bucks just immediately score back they've become the rams
in this game.
Speaker 2 (01:08:33):
Yeah, media, it's the greatest show on seas on the
seventh seeds. It's our That was crazy. That was a
great play. We were saying, you were saying, Jamal Charles, Yes.
Speaker 1 (01:08:51):
I think kids today and look at it again. It
was a screen You're seeing a lot of this in
the NFL in the in the two thousands, a lot
of screenplays. Well, yeah, because this was like the West
coast of this was the birth of the pass like
not like the passing game had been around for a while,
but like you didn't have to throw it out.
Speaker 2 (01:09:06):
Offenses evolved after this era.
Speaker 1 (01:09:08):
You didn't have to throw it eighty five yards, right,
it was.
Speaker 2 (01:09:11):
This was I shouldn't I shouldn't say the birth of
the past. This is like the death of the run game,
you know, like that this era was the last great
era of running backs. Like now we still have good
running backs in the league, but right they're not as utilized, right,
not as uh oh my gosh, walk in the tight line.
Speaker 1 (01:09:34):
Good on Mike Martz for not challenging that though, Yeah,
because you know what would have happened.
Speaker 2 (01:09:37):
They would have lost the time out lost challenge.
Speaker 1 (01:09:39):
Because that he became the king of that right here,
this is where almost Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:09:46):
Ah, Rams defensive coordinator just taking his head set off.
Speaker 1 (01:09:55):
Carson can't take it, man, he can't take it. But again,
anything that the Bucks can do, the Rams are going
to try to try to retel theory.
Speaker 2 (01:10:05):
Their offense should be able to just repeat. But the
problem is like that, the real matchup is when the
Rams are on offense. Because the Bucks defense is great. Yes,
but the Rams defense isn't as good as the Bucks defense.
It's underrated. But again, and the offense, the Bucks offense
isn't as good as the Rams offense, but it's almost
as good as opposed to like the Rams defense is.
Speaker 1 (01:10:25):
It's not Seawan King is locked in in this game. Yes,
he's out dueling Kurt Warner.
Speaker 2 (01:10:29):
Yes, again, that's why that's what makes football so Greatic.
Speaker 1 (01:10:34):
Brooks, where did he go to? Where did he go to?
Speaker 2 (01:10:36):
Uh, Derek Brooks, he didn't have to go far. I'm
don't know. Was he a Florida guy, Florida state, Florida state? Yea, oh,
I thought he was a Florida I'm thinking like you
are you thinking Gainesville?
Speaker 3 (01:10:50):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (01:10:50):
I was thinking of the Gators Kurt Warner, I'm surprised
that Sean King.
Speaker 1 (01:10:57):
Is Where did Smith go to college?
Speaker 2 (01:11:00):
I don't know. Did he go to like an HBCU, Nope,
I don't know to Florida or hb Yeah, HBCU Florida.
I didn't know that. Yep, he's a Florida Gator. He
wore number thirty three in Florida. I used to get
so mad watching Emtt Smith play, just because I knew
he was a cowboy, and like used to make me
frustrated because he would be so good and I'd just
(01:11:21):
be so mad. She'd like, stop being so good.
Speaker 1 (01:11:23):
I liked it when he went to the Arizona Cardinals.
Speaker 2 (01:11:26):
Yeah, same when he was at the when he was
on the back half of the career. For sure. I
also have no qualms or no beef with the Cardinals.
Speaker 1 (01:11:39):
So I was like, yeah, whatever you're done anyway, Yeah, exactly,
You're not a threat to anyone.
Speaker 2 (01:11:45):
You know who I really liked during this time and
we were just talking about running backs as like the
death of the running back of Era. I was a
big fan of Edrin James back in the day.
Speaker 1 (01:11:53):
Like he missed out on a ring too with Indianapolis yeah,
oh nice. Remember who the running back was? I was
Ricky pro Hill right there. Do you remember who the
running back was when the Colts won the.
Speaker 2 (01:12:03):
Super Bowl when the Colts won the Super Bowl.
Speaker 1 (01:12:07):
Two thousand and six season against the Chicago Bears. You're
gonna say it and I'm gonna know it, but I
can't think of it off the top of my head.
Speaker 2 (01:12:14):
Okay, tell me Joseph Joseph A die. Oh my gosh,
good like past catching back?
Speaker 1 (01:12:22):
Yeah, yeah, another weapon for Peyton Manning. Yeah, the many
that he had.
Speaker 2 (01:12:26):
I do remember, Joseph. I knew I would remember it.
I just couldn't think of the name.
Speaker 1 (01:12:30):
It was sweet watching Peyton Manning just with with Marvin Harrison. No,
with that, yeah, Marvin Harrison, Marvin Harrison, Reggie Wayne Jgie,
Wayne Dallas Clark. Yes, Joseph, Joey you die? Also of
course Edrin James too.
Speaker 2 (01:12:43):
Didn't Was Brandon Stokely there when Peyton was there? I
think it was in Denver because I know he went
to Indy, but I think that might have been like
I think, no, I think, well, who did you have?
He had Denver?
Speaker 1 (01:12:55):
A Wes Welker, he had brand, he had U Mars Tom, Yes,
the Lake various Thomas.
Speaker 2 (01:13:02):
That was. He was an incredible it was credible wide receiver.
He made Tim Tebow look good. Yeah. What's that tell you, folks? Yeah?
For real? This Bucks team though, in this RAM, like
both these teams, this was like they had.
Speaker 1 (01:13:17):
Like a I don't know, like a.
Speaker 2 (01:13:22):
Six or seven year run for both these teams where
they were like hot and like for that six or
seven year stretch, they only like the Rams went to
what two super bowls? Bucks went to one and in
that like early window. But they you know the fact
that they both made it to a super Bowl. They
were like dominant for about seven years or so. The
(01:13:43):
Bucks kind of fell off once their defense started to
a folk. Yeah it was is that his fourth touchdown? Yeah?
Four touchdowns an NFL record three games in one season
with four touchdowns. Talk about a fantasy football.
Speaker 1 (01:14:00):
Like weapon MVP.
Speaker 2 (01:14:04):
Yeah for real.
Speaker 1 (01:14:04):
By the way, do you know the last time that
the uh you had two teams a team from the
same well two players from the same team would win
back to back MVPs. When the last time that had
happened it was Warner in ninety nine and Fulk in
two thousand. Do you remember the last time did you
know who the last time that had happened before that?
Speaker 2 (01:14:22):
Yeah? Was it Joe Montana and Steve Young? Nope, I
don't know. Noet again, it's gonna be back to back.
It has to be a different player, per right, Like
I'm trying to think of, Like, like I didn't know
if maybe Montana won it and then the year that
Young took over he won it. But was it like
Aikman and Emmett.
Speaker 1 (01:14:41):
No, Aikman never won an NFL mv let's see, No,
he never won an NFL MVP.
Speaker 2 (01:14:46):
I don't know if I'm gonna get it. I don't
know if I've ever heard this trivia. Well it's good trivia. Yeah,
pretty good. I don't know if I know the answer.
Speaker 1 (01:14:53):
You can tell me, Okay, I want to say it
was in the nineteen eighties for Washington. Hold on again,
these are a ap NFL MV or you know, not offensive.
Speaker 2 (01:15:04):
Player of this? Was it the year that the kicker
won the MVP? That was one year, Yeah, he is,
so it was the year after that the who was
it like Mark or Brent Brent Rippen or Mark Mark.
Speaker 1 (01:15:14):
Ripping that's the nineties. No, this is this is eighties,
nineteen eighty two NFL MVP, right right. Mark Mosley was
the nineteen eighty two NFL MVP.
Speaker 2 (01:15:26):
And he was Who's that is that the kicker? Yeah? Yeah,
I always forget his name, but I always remember there's
been one kicker to win an MVP. That dude. He's
got to go down in the Hall of Fame. I
don't even care what he did with his career. He's
the only kicker ever to win an MVP award. He wasn't. Yeah,
that's the stats weren't even that good, like they were
probably good for back then.
Speaker 1 (01:15:46):
The nineteen eighty three NFL MVP Joe thisman, oh ok
he is okay.
Speaker 2 (01:15:52):
Yep, So that was the last time that happened before
Warner and.
Speaker 1 (01:15:56):
Falk and it hasn't happened since. You know hard that
is to do well.
Speaker 2 (01:15:59):
I was to say Lamar's won it twice, but nope,
Josh Allen's won it. But it's like, if you think, like,
is there anyone on the Ravens that is worthy of
an MVP? Correct? Is there anyone on the Bills that's
where like at least like maybe I could consider like
Derrick Henry yeah the kicker.
Speaker 1 (01:16:14):
No, no, no, yeah, neck squad and then boom, you're
off the team.
Speaker 2 (01:16:25):
Mark Moseley, you know why he got an MVP. That
was a strike.
Speaker 1 (01:16:28):
A strike? Yeah, eighty seven was the strike. And it
was almost like a slap in the Union's face, like
the players.
Speaker 2 (01:16:34):
Yeah, like we'll just give it to a kicker. No, yeah, whatever,
dude had like what was this percentage? Like seventy five percent?
Speaker 1 (01:16:43):
Screw it and it's good, good enough. He only missed
like fifteen field goals all season.
Speaker 2 (01:16:47):
You know, it's one of those rare years. Why don't
you give it to them?
Speaker 1 (01:16:54):
Intentional grounding on Sean King and look at look at
Tony Dungee.
Speaker 2 (01:16:58):
He is livid.
Speaker 1 (01:17:00):
Yeah, watch it again.
Speaker 2 (01:17:07):
Oh and there's just no one over there.
Speaker 1 (01:17:11):
Not a good call. Not a good call.
Speaker 2 (01:17:14):
He what by him or by the raft by the ref?
Not a good call. You don't think that was intentional grounding?
Speaker 1 (01:17:19):
I think if he was scurrying away and then because
it's also the tackle box as.
Speaker 2 (01:17:26):
Well, right, but it's got to be within like five
yards of like a wide receiver or something.
Speaker 1 (01:17:31):
It's got to be like yeah, that's what there's that's
what's it's the area.
Speaker 2 (01:17:36):
No, no, I could see it, but I can also
see where the refs are coming from. But it is
a ticky, tacky call in a close game, Yes, which
is what you want to avoid. Correct, Like what Tony
Dungee the challenge flag? Yeah, but you can't challenge a penalty.
(01:18:00):
Did he call a time out or do you throw
the flag? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (01:18:06):
See that back then you could Yeah this was yeah,
this is two thousand.
Speaker 2 (01:18:19):
Yeah. Yeah, that's what I'm saying, Like, you can't challenge
the penalty. Is he challenge Is he challenging whether or
(01:18:41):
not he was inside the tackle box? These poor refs
like they put these like review boots like right next
to the crowd. Don't do that then the crowds just
hovering over them.
Speaker 1 (01:19:00):
Boo.
Speaker 2 (01:19:02):
This ref's trying to like make the most important call
of the entire game. He's trying to lock in. He's
being distracted. Yeah, so they're basically yeah, now, Tony Dungee
is like, all right, screw it, we're getting a penalty,
but you took two extra yards off of us, Like
give us our two yards back? Yeah, right right, right right,
(01:19:34):
thank you.
Speaker 1 (01:19:34):
Lorn Lorne Michaels, not al Michael's Lorne Michaels. Yeah, all right,
these refs need to get it together. Tony's literally just
grumpy that happened. That's what's going on. That should be
a meme. Grumpy Tony Dungeee finish.
Speaker 2 (01:19:55):
Waiting to kep, waiting to say stuff until I'm taking
a sip of my drink. Yeah, what's going on here?
What is going on here? You're playing football? Didn't That's great?
(01:20:21):
The hibachi's busted. It's like they're setting up a barbecue
at Archimedi sh house. Okay, okay, Yeah, Tony Dungeye just
(01:20:44):
kind of being petting the petty there. It seems like
they gave him the penalty and he's just like, see yeah, Tony.
Tony's very upset. They're upset that they got that call.
I get it. It's a ticky, tacky call in a
close game. Yes, like you want to avoid that.
Speaker 1 (01:21:04):
Thirty one twenty eight fourth quarters? What eight thirty seven
to go in the game. Monday Night Football Classic MNF
year from two thousand. The Bucks and the Rams were
the defending Suveer World champs at the time. These two
teams hooked up in the NFC Championship Game. And the
Rams got there. Controversially, a lot of people don't remember that.
Speaker 2 (01:21:22):
The shout out by the way to the NFL for
on their YouTube channel, guests on YouTube for us to watch.
Speaker 1 (01:21:30):
Maybe we'll get another coach next week.
Speaker 2 (01:21:31):
I don't know, I'll say, coach ya Stremsky, coach you
coach you ya Benchki don't I don't know we'll get
a coach. Josh MAUCATELLI probably didn't you do that, Sean
King impressing me out here except that throw literally just now.
Speaker 1 (01:21:49):
I don't think that throw is going to not impress
you the rest of the game. I don't think it
ruins the rest of his performance.
Speaker 2 (01:21:54):
No, I'm just impressed already. Like I expect it from
Kurt Warner, I'm not expecting it from Sean King. Oh
and he held onto it. Yeah, Oh my gosh, that
dude got jacked. Oh my gosh, sure it is. Watch
(01:22:16):
it again. Yeah, toss the pillow under his head before
he hits the ground, Bob. You know, as I get
older every day, yeah, I think back to playing football
as a kid, and I'm like, man, I don't miss
(01:22:37):
getting smoked like that. This dude got smoked like a brisket.
Oh my gosh, that dude, the bush is hurt. What
about the what about green? Oh? That hit was wild,
but you can't do anymore. No. No, It's like in hockey,
(01:22:59):
there's a penalty called charging if you know the rules
of hockey and you can get a charging call. It's
like if you take more than three steps to like
check someone, because you're gonna pick up speed to become violent.
Speaker 1 (01:23:14):
Work done another touchdowns in or the one is either.
Speaker 2 (01:23:18):
Gonna say I think they called him out. Wow, I
still can't get over that hit. That dude got clocked.
Work done again? Uh? Someone that kind of just fell
to the wayside. He didn't now he finished with Atlanta,
(01:23:41):
didn't he believe? So? If I'm right, That's why I'm
trying to think he had a backup in Atlanta that
was pretty good. Is like TJ. TJ. Warren or something
like that. Or let me look it up inside the
two done? Do they get in?
Speaker 1 (01:24:01):
Nope, Dave Moore does not get it. Dave Less h TJ.
Speaker 2 (01:24:09):
Duckett was his backup? Was he in Atlanta? Only? Let
me look up t J. Duckett? Mm hmm. Looked like
there was almost like a botched, like, snap for a second,
(01:24:30):
m damn.
Speaker 1 (01:24:34):
Second in goal?
Speaker 2 (01:24:35):
TJ. Duckett Oh was drafted by Atlanta, So yeah, he
played behind work done in Atlanta. I couldn't remember. I
was like, did he play for Tampa too?
Speaker 1 (01:24:50):
Jones, as you know, made the Super Bowl saving stop
against against the Tennessee Titans.
Speaker 2 (01:25:04):
Bucks are kind of just letting the clock run out.
I like to play. They're up, Yeah, exactly, you're up.
Speaker 1 (01:25:11):
You're already just two or three minutes of the clock.
Speaker 2 (01:25:13):
You're in field goal range. All these Rams guys are
still just ready to run, Like they can see them
walking off the field and they're all just still in
a three point stance. They're like, I'm ready, you snap
that ball. I'm ready. I'm not faking it. I'm locked
in all right. Here we go, third and goal, Bucks
(01:25:35):
up three with six thirty left in the fourth, six
twenty four. It's picked. Isn't that a.
Speaker 1 (01:25:44):
Isn't that unbelievable?
Speaker 2 (01:25:45):
What a dumb play call? What are we doing? Doungee
Oh my gosh, I just hate stupid football.
Speaker 1 (01:25:57):
Yeah, I'm not a good decision. It was I wasn't
a good decision.
Speaker 2 (01:26:00):
It's a dumb play call.
Speaker 1 (01:26:02):
And then you're giving the Rams, a team that's known
for their offense, another chance to get into this game
from the twenty. Yeah, he's double teamed and there there's
no PI on that. From what I can see, it
literally just looks like it's a clean point.
Speaker 2 (01:26:18):
Yeah, he just gets outplayed drey Blye on the coverage.
Drey bly another player forgotten about to the football sands
of time.
Speaker 1 (01:26:28):
Which is unfortunate. He was absolutely Bud Carson loving it.
Speaker 2 (01:26:34):
He was. He was.
Speaker 1 (01:26:35):
We saw him frustrated.
Speaker 2 (01:26:37):
A toss in the headset.
Speaker 1 (01:26:43):
Yep, Williams the tight end makes the snag and now
the Rams are going to try and go down and.
Speaker 2 (01:26:47):
They were just killing the clock too. Yes, they wasted
a time out. That's the type of like stuff I'm
talking about where it's like the analytics nowadays, coaches don't
make that kind of day subverted.
Speaker 1 (01:26:59):
Yeah, like they still make the mistakes, although like the.
Speaker 2 (01:27:02):
Play call, but like taking the time out or whatever
when they're milking the claw. Yeah, like that's a that's
an analytic thing where like the stat guy on the
sidelines is coming up to the coach and he's like, hey,
it's probably better if we just run a play like
look at this, Yeah, next play literally two plays later,
is it Isaac Bruser? Is it to it's Tory Holt.
(01:27:23):
Tory Holt just takes it like eighty yards.
Speaker 1 (01:27:25):
How's he not in the Hall of Fame?
Speaker 2 (01:27:26):
I know?
Speaker 1 (01:27:27):
How is he already down in the end zone with him?
Isaac Bruce down there? They're all going with the offensive line.
This is why you don't.
Speaker 2 (01:27:38):
Wow this game. It reminds me of one that we're
definitely going to cover that also involves the Rams. This
is there's another Monday night football game that we'll be
covering that includes the Rams that I'm very excited about.
This one, Uh gives me like glimpses of that same game, similar,
(01:28:03):
similar type of play.
Speaker 1 (01:28:06):
It's the rams are in this game, the one that
I'm talking about. Yeah, are you sure?
Speaker 2 (01:28:10):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (01:28:11):
Okay, it looks like I've got to look at my
rollodecks and see if the Rams are in there again.
You know who the quarterback who could milk the clock
the greatest?
Speaker 2 (01:28:23):
Who was it? Well? I mean, Tom Brady's a game manager,
like the best game manager, but I don't know. FARV
was pretty good at well. Actually, no, that's I take
that back. Farv was a gunslinger. He was wild.
Speaker 1 (01:28:35):
He would just when I say, milk the clock, yeah,
I mean the play clock. I used to do it, oh,
Peyton correct, Yes, he would, he knew, and you know
I I I remember I'd watch football with friends and
they'd freak out, throw the voice, look at the play clock.
He wants that down to the one tick. Yeah, oh
that's terrible. And then sure enough Peyton gets it on
(01:28:57):
the right, gets to that one second, ball, Snaps gets
out to Reggie. Wayne touched him. He knew what he
was doing.
Speaker 2 (01:29:02):
So they're like, oh, okay, well he's a game manager,
like I think. And that's the other thing I've noticed
over years watching FO to Go is there's no pocket
passers anymore. We talked about it with Kurt Warner earlier
and how he's like a staple pocket passer but now
Hall of Fame career because of being now it's not
(01:29:25):
a pocket passer anymore. It's a game manager, yes, And
like you have to be a good game manager and
be good at like.
Speaker 1 (01:29:31):
You're playing to again, you're playing not to lose the game, right,
You're playing to you know, because play to win the game.
Speaker 2 (01:29:37):
After the game you and again something else you said earlier.
The game is faster than ever. Yes, every year it
gets faster. Absolutely every decade it gets faster. Right, Oh
my gosh, dre Bligh on the coverage again, he's he
is incredible. Yeah, but the so the game is getting faster.
(01:29:59):
So there when I say there's no pot stronger, there's
no pocket passers anymore, it's because d Lineman moved too
fast for quarterbacks to stand still anymore. Like you, you
can stand still, Like Matt Stafford is you know, in theory,
a pocket passer, but he's evolved to become a game manager.
Speaker 1 (01:30:17):
Yes, he's getting older as a result of getting older,
and you know, the body doesn't work as well as
it does when you're older as it does as opposed
to right younger, you'd become more of a game man.
Speaker 2 (01:30:26):
You also have to just be able to move around
in the pocket and like make almost like an improviser,
but not an improviser, Like you got to be able
to like make something happen. You have to be in
You don't have to be able to like scramble, but
it's like you've got to be able to, like I
don't know, roll out if necessary, like even Aaron Rodgers
(01:30:47):
in Week one of the season so far, he you know,
he was doing more play action with the Steelers this
year than he did pretty much his entire two years
with the Jets. More.
Speaker 1 (01:30:58):
There's also more room to move, Whereas the Jets had
their offensive line was more constrictive, right, whereas the Steelers have.
Speaker 2 (01:31:06):
More of a I feel like also though Rogers is
coming back from that injury, he's getting a little healthier
and like he's turning his back to the line now,
which you know, like again there's a flag on the play.
You don't have to be a pocket passer like you like,
it's a game manager, like you have to be able
to like turn your back to the defense roll out
(01:31:27):
if you have to, like, and Rogers can do that.
Like all these guys who were pocket passers now don't
just park and bark like Kurt Warner didn't ever like
roll out. Peyton Manning would only like naked bootleg every
so often, you know what I mean, Like, it's not
like you, right, they were pocket passers back then and
then teams would focus their line around them and stuff,
(01:31:48):
and it's different now. Stadium's full. Yeah, I know, it's
a great stadium. Yea, I'm a big fan of it,
like I like Raymond James. The problem is is Tampa
is just like Storm Central. I feel like every season
it's like this game is weather delayed, like every.
Speaker 1 (01:32:11):
Every play, every game, and if it's open air, there's
a good chance there's and it's Tampa. When I the
only I could see when I went to the four
games between the Guardians and the Rays, Uh well wee,
could you know week ago right, it rained, Let's see,
(01:32:32):
first game, it rained, third game. So out of the
four games, it rained two out of the four days.
So during the game, but.
Speaker 2 (01:32:39):
They finished it right like they finished the games.
Speaker 1 (01:32:41):
Yes, yeah, there was no weather delays, right they Yeah,
there was a chance had the game went on in
the ninth inning and during the first game, there was
a chance it would have been a weather to like.
It just started pouring when Jose ramirezit's the home run,
and then after that it was back to back Jacks.
It was Jose Ramirez off Pete fair Banks and then
Kyle Manzarda with a Manzo bomb. It started just who pouring.
Speaker 2 (01:33:06):
The rain down there too is heavy. Yes, when it rains,
it rains.
Speaker 1 (01:33:11):
When it rains it pours.
Speaker 2 (01:33:14):
When I lived in Texas, when it would rain, it
was like so dry that it would flood because like
the water wouldn't go anywhere, the ground wouldn't absorb it
because it's just dry. But in Georgia and Florida stuff
like that, when it rains, it just rains. It's just
rain NonStop. And that was in Texas. It rains for
(01:33:34):
like five ten minutes and that's dry. It stops raining forever. Again,
it's like a drought all the time. In Georgia, it
would just rain all day and it would just be pouring.
Like the way New Englanders drive on the highway in
the snow is how Florida people drive in the rain
because the rain down there is crazy. So I can
(01:33:58):
imagine the game getting There's probably a good chance it
was going to get delayed if it went on.
Speaker 1 (01:34:06):
So the Rams trying to run out the clock.
Speaker 2 (01:34:07):
Now, yeah, I know, I can't believe that the Bucks
threw a pick that was crazy. Marshall fulk with seventy
seven yards, four touchdowns, Kurt Warner two touchdowns, two picks,
three sixteen Isaac Bruce three catches, thirty six yards. Where's
Tory Holt? Why we got Isaac Bruce up here, not
Torry Holt. You mean the dude who has like the
(01:34:30):
eighty yard touchdown that just gave the Rams the lead,
Because I bet, I bet Tory Holt has like maybe
what one less catch than Isaac Bruce probably yeah, like
they're probably right around the same spot.
Speaker 1 (01:34:48):
This Warner was injured. Yeah, so with the thumb injury.
Speaker 2 (01:34:55):
Eric Dickerson, he's all right. He probably could have done
a little bit of better or done like more more
like sideline or maybe even hopped in the booth.
Speaker 1 (01:35:04):
But I'd rather see him in the booth.
Speaker 2 (01:35:06):
As you know, I know you're not a big sideline guy.
I'm saying. That's what I'm saying. I think he's good
on the mic, though, is what I'm saying. Like, I think.
Speaker 4 (01:35:10):
He's Ah, so let me ask you, yeah, would you
put you put Dickerson over Marshall?
Speaker 2 (01:35:22):
Ooh, Like, who's the best all time Rams player?
Speaker 1 (01:35:26):
Like?
Speaker 2 (01:35:27):
How about I just ask you that, not even just
who is the best all times player for the Rams,
regardless of city, like regardless of we're talking like Saint
Louis or la oh, like it doesn't matter. Oh, that's
a tough one. Wherever. That's a tough one. Yeah, I
mean you can narrow it down and just say Eric
(01:35:49):
Dickerson or Marshall Fulk. I mean that's pretty much the
two best right there. But I mean Orlando pace Well
the greatest RAM of all time? That's tough. We don't
know who's the greatest. What was his name? Is it?
Jack Youngblood? The guy I'm thinking of the wasn't it
like a d a defensive guy in like the seventies?
He was Jackie Slater. He's pretty good. What about Matt Stafford, No,
(01:36:13):
he's not better than Warner. You don't think Matt Stafford's
better than Kurt Warner. Maybe not in maybe not in
the Rams uniform, but overall you think Kurt Warner is
better than Matt Stafford. I don't know about that. Matt
Stafford just hit.
Speaker 1 (01:36:31):
Uh how many NFL how many? How many NFL MVPs
does Stafford have? Didn't have any?
Speaker 2 (01:36:36):
Yeah, but you gotta be on a good team to
win an MVP nowadays, like the Lions were never a
good team. Did Calvin Johnson ever win Megatron? He never
won an MVP? Right, And it's like he's.
Speaker 1 (01:36:52):
Well Barry right, Well, Barry Sanders won how many m vps?
I think one or two?
Speaker 2 (01:36:55):
Right, let me check.
Speaker 1 (01:36:59):
He was co MVP with FIV in ninety seven.
Speaker 2 (01:37:02):
So stupid. That is so dumb.
Speaker 1 (01:37:05):
Remember the last co MVP, No, Peyton Manning and Steve
Air McNair in two thousand and three.
Speaker 2 (01:37:11):
That's so dumb. We couldn't choose, so we just gave
it to you both.
Speaker 1 (01:37:18):
Well, no, it was because you have the amount of
football writers you have right at the time, there were
no tiebreaker scenarios. So see its first place votes.
Speaker 2 (01:37:37):
I think he only won it in ninety seven.
Speaker 1 (01:37:39):
Okay, he had two thousand yards that year too, so
too minute warning in Tampa.
Speaker 2 (01:37:47):
I'm looking ninety seven MVP.
Speaker 1 (01:37:49):
Yeah, yeah, co MVP with five Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:37:58):
Who were we talking about before that? Warner? Thank you?
Matt Stafford two times. He's only been to the Pro
Bowl twice. Yeah, that is egregious, That is criminal. Matt
Stafford is a guaranteed Hall of Famer. I'll tell you that,
regardless if you think he's better than Kurt Warner or not,
he will be in the Hall of Fame.
Speaker 1 (01:38:19):
Two Pro Bowls is as atrocious, like what are we
doing NFL?
Speaker 2 (01:38:26):
That is crazy.
Speaker 1 (01:38:27):
Well, look, if you look over the years of who
are the quarterbacks, you'll say, okay.
Speaker 2 (01:38:33):
Uh yeah, Mac Jones was a pro bowler. Mac Jones
has one less Pro Bowl than Matt Stafford. Explain that
to me. That's crazy.
Speaker 1 (01:38:44):
Thirty five thirty one Rams letting the Bucks with a
buck forty eight to go? Can the Bucks get it done?
Speaker 2 (01:38:49):
Here?
Speaker 1 (01:38:49):
In the revenge game in Tampa?
Speaker 2 (01:38:51):
Where is uh Monday night football?
Speaker 1 (01:38:53):
All this time passing yards? And we were talking Stash
Grafford versus Warner.
Speaker 2 (01:39:08):
Kurt Warner is not even in the top twenty for
passing yards. Well now he's not.
Speaker 1 (01:39:13):
He was and then you know Brady and Breeze and
far all those guys. Oh lateral did you see the lateral?
Speaker 2 (01:39:26):
What a play? And he gets checked on the sideline
and there's a penalty. Yeh, oh my gosh, what a play?
Where is Kurt Warner? Kurt Warner is forty ninth all
(01:39:49):
time in passing yards. That's crazy.
Speaker 1 (01:39:51):
He wasn't for And watch the hit?
Speaker 2 (01:39:52):
See yeah, I know this hit you who are they
giving it to the offensive guy or owns? Watch this here?
It is work done? Wow looking at him, bro Wow,
(01:40:17):
King reminds me of like a Cordell Stewart, like the
number ten thing going on. Yeah, the number ten things
giving me that same vibe. Wow, that was like a
game saving play with under two minutes left. And now
they're in Saint Louis territory, marching, marching, marching, marching out
of bounds. Yeah, stops the clock. Wow, Sean King King
(01:40:46):
for a day. Oh my gosh, let me look up
some Sean kingstats while we're while we're right here, you know,
why not.
Speaker 1 (01:40:56):
He he wasn't the only number ten in that division.
Charlie Batch, Charlie b the Detroit Lions. He went on
to be a Steeler's legend. He put legend in quotation marks.
Speaker 2 (01:41:09):
Yeah, the air quotations. Yeah, put those quotation marks down there, kid.
Sean Kings bears it out and.
Speaker 1 (01:41:17):
Oh my gosh, this dude's dropped two.
Speaker 2 (01:41:21):
That's a second drop. Get this dude some stick them.
Where's a spider tack?
Speaker 1 (01:41:28):
This is two thousand there is. I think the only
way you'd have spider tack is if you killed a
spider and put tax on it.
Speaker 2 (01:41:34):
There you go, Oh my gosh, stick them, Oh my gosh,
Sean King, you ready for some stats yep, career games
thirty four.
Speaker 1 (01:41:47):
Yeah, he had a very small sample a.
Speaker 2 (01:41:50):
Career passing percentage of fifty six point two percent not
that good, and four and sixty six career passing yards
rugged two thousand. This year was his best year. Yes,
he had twenty seven hundred passing yards. Just not a law. No,
(01:42:13):
and he went he ran a lot. He had eighteen
touchdowns for thirteen interceptions. Yes, not a good ratio. He
was more of a he was able to be an
elusive runner as well. His career touchdown to interception ratio
is twenty seven to twenty four. Yeah, not a good
these Jameis Winston.
Speaker 1 (01:42:32):
First off, Jameis Winston put up more touchdowns in one
season than this dude had in his career.
Speaker 2 (01:42:40):
Fourth and four, Wow, all right, no more stats. Game
on the line. He trips for the first down.
Speaker 1 (01:42:51):
Yeah, and stops the clock.
Speaker 2 (01:42:53):
Wow wow. Warren Sap loving it. Two lane the green wave, Okay,
one nine to go in the game. As you said,
(01:43:20):
he trips. Watch, Yeah, I know what a tackle like. Honestly,
great effort by is that Fletcher? Yeah? Here comes key
Sean motioning a minute left. One time I was playing
flag football when I was in the Navy. We had
(01:43:42):
a flag football program on base that we we could
do like a little league. And I laid out for
a catch like that and practice one time full on
dove and landed on my chest and I like knocked
the wind out of myself, Like I was like, and
everyone was like, hey, dude, it's practice. You know, you
don't have to go that hard and practice.
Speaker 1 (01:44:01):
Oh he's doing the Allen Iverson.
Speaker 2 (01:44:03):
We talk about what are we what are we talking about?
Were talking about practice.
Speaker 1 (01:44:08):
Not not not a game, but the game, not a game.
Speaker 2 (01:44:13):
Practice.
Speaker 1 (01:44:16):
And that's why he's in the Hall of Fame.
Speaker 2 (01:44:17):
Knowledge. That's it. That's that's the reason why right.
Speaker 1 (01:44:24):
Saint Louis taking a time out, Rams only have one
time out left. They were only the Saint Louis Rams
for twenty years.
Speaker 2 (01:44:30):
I'm like mad that they aren't there anymore. I like
the Saint Louis fan base, the battle.
Speaker 1 (01:44:34):
Hawks, Georgia Frontieri, the owner not with us anymore, the
BattleHawks of the UFL. Yeah, the fan base is really
good there.
Speaker 2 (01:44:42):
Saint Louis loves football.
Speaker 1 (01:44:43):
They should bring a team back there. I agree when
they expec expansion fee is going to be too much.
But well, the thing is is like they already have
the stadium like you wouldn't. But if they bring another team,
they would read they would.
Speaker 2 (01:44:53):
They'd have to get a new stadium.
Speaker 1 (01:44:54):
Yeah, the thing they would need like they would need
to like Malcolm Glazer, the late owner of the Bucks.
The Glazer family bought the Bucks in the nineties.
Speaker 2 (01:45:03):
So al Michaels, thank you for finishing Jade Dog Center.
I told him to tell yeah, Jadeau's got the producer
hat on right now. Yeah, Mike, make sure I'll make
sure you mentioned they just bought the team. Yep, yep
on screen camera now camera three.
Speaker 1 (01:45:21):
Go, did you notice that y Els the owner's box,
which I now they.
Speaker 2 (01:45:26):
Want to catch all that ref.
Speaker 1 (01:45:32):
Two yard line? Ree Dell Anthony.
Speaker 2 (01:45:36):
The ref got jacked that. There you go, Ready, here
you go, replacement refs.
Speaker 1 (01:45:43):
This man needs a replacement a cl He's going to
need a replacement knee. Ready and here we go. Ready,
there goes as a c L.
Speaker 2 (01:45:54):
One two. Not a good thrown ball. By the way,
he did get two in. Yes, it was not a
good thrown ball. No, well, I mean it was a
ball that only his guy could get. That was that's
sometimes the past you got to make even though it's
like you're you're throwing it back shouldered. Yeah, that ref
got jacked up. That was brutal.
Speaker 1 (01:46:16):
Fifty six seconds to go. Oh, that's the second time
they've thrown it to more their tight end in the
red zone and he's he's either missed the catch or
Sean King's thrown it way behind him or something.
Speaker 2 (01:46:35):
Uh, you know, call me crazy. Right, they're on the
two yard line. Why why aren't you feeding Mike Allstock
the ball or run it in yourself? Where is Mike allstot?
I understand you don't have any timeouts. It's not going
to take you fifty seconds to wark done over the top?
Why wow? Yeah the Rams still have one time out seconds. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:47:09):
The Pirate ship so cool?
Speaker 2 (01:47:12):
It go on?
Speaker 1 (01:47:12):
That's so bad, it'd be cool. They wouldn't let people
on at WrestleMania. Really, it was part of the prop
which they never used. See, I thought someone was I
thought they were going to have a match where someone
was gonna jump right off the Pirates.
Speaker 2 (01:47:22):
But it's too No, it's that's annoying. That'd be cool
to go on it. They also, or maybe it wasn't
Raymond James the National Championship one year when I was
in the Navy. It was in Florida. I can't remember
if it was at EverBank or if it was at
Raymond James. But they invited us to.
Speaker 1 (01:47:41):
Like like volunteer and work the National Championship, and then
we would have been able to like hang out, and
I think we had been Tampa. I don't think it
would have been.
Speaker 2 (01:47:47):
Jackson, right, I can't. I don't think it was EverBank,
but I can't remember because EverBank was closer to where
I lived, so I can't remember if like people went
to EverBank or if they took everyone to U to
Raymond James. Forty eight seconds, Bucks up three yep. This
(01:48:09):
this Buccaneers defense. You cant five. You can see Warren
sapp and and Derek Brooks chatting before they go out there,
like saying, we got to lock it up kind of thing. Yeah.
The leap, the leap, that was crazy. I'm a big
fan of Tampa. I mean, I like the team. I
(01:48:32):
like the organization. They're not like there's been a lot
of bad organizations, bad owners, bad teams that are just
bad permanently. I like the Bucks. I feel like the
Bucks are kind of always in competition, like the worst
they've been since.
Speaker 1 (01:48:46):
Well they had two they've had two quarterbacks as of
late fall, right into their last Yeah, that's a good thing.
Speaker 2 (01:48:52):
Yeah, like the fact that Baker Mayfield got pushed out
of Cleveland essentially, Yeah, it's crazy like Cleveland. I don't know,
that's why they're the Cleveland Browns. Yeah, it reminds me
of the Eagles when before the Eagles won their first
Super Bowl, Like for the longest time, they would just
(01:49:12):
make dumb decisions like that, and it's like it's the
fans pressure the owners into making a decision that the
owners probably shouldn't make. That's not like a real football decision. Like,
Baker Mayfield was good in Cleveland. He got the Browns
to the playoffs for the first time.
Speaker 1 (01:49:30):
They won a playoff game against their most hated rival.
Speaker 2 (01:49:33):
It's like in the playoffs, like no one else has
done that. So why did you get rid of him?
It was literally just because he wasn't getting along with
Odell Beckham. And on top of that, you know, Baker, Oh,
there's a big fight breaking.
Speaker 1 (01:49:53):
Now, there's a scrum.
Speaker 2 (01:49:56):
Martine gramatica throw hands, Marty Marty go to the bench.
Martine Grammatica is gonna come over to warrens that and
be like, I need you to mess them up. They
were messing with me, DoD You know, Warren sat played
tight end in college, yes, and like a little like
(01:50:16):
when I think his freshman year he came in as
a tight end and then obviously converted. But sorry, when
the tip balls always get me, like an interception floating,
that's always. That's when like your breath just leaves your
body when a ball is tipped up like that. And
I played like I played linebacker and defense like outside
(01:50:39):
linebacker like d end and that was like that. We
run tip drills all the time where you'd have to
almost like volleyball, set the ball to the guy behind
you in line, and we would just go back and forth,
like someone would throw a ball and you would tip
it up and then you'd have to run back to
the back of the line and the guy would tip
it up, and you just try and practice tipping it
up for the d backs and stuff like that. Yeah,
(01:51:01):
picked off, I mean an arm punt and the Bucks
are gonna win it. Kurt Warner throws what is that
his fourth pick or his third pick of the game.
I think third might be one of the worst Kurt
Warner performances I've seen. And it wasn't even like a
bad performance honestly, Like he still threw like almost three
hundred and fifty yards and like two or three touchdowns.
But I mean it was Marshall fulk that was the
(01:51:23):
highlight of this offense. And and there it is. See revenge, Revenge,
That's a revenge game. That's great. What a picture. Wow,
What a matchup, What a matchup, What a way to
celebrate Monday night football. I mean really, there's so many
(01:51:47):
good Monday night football games, and we covered the first
one ever and that was before both of us. You
got to see this live? Yeah, I actually, actually I was.
I did not get to see this. Oh you did not?
Speaker 1 (01:52:01):
No, no, do you know where you were doing? I
was on forty four Downing Street. I know that much. Wow,
and that that much I do know. It was it
was a while ago, back in two thousand and Now
it's time for the aftermath, our first y two K
game and first of I think many for this year.
On the playback for Monday Night Football classics. Siege is
(01:52:23):
wrapped up, and what a game the Tampa Bay Bucks
over the at the time reigning defending undisputed Super Bowl
champions Saint Louis Rams in the revenge game.
Speaker 2 (01:52:33):
Yeah. Absolute killer. I love that one. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:52:36):
This is late December. This was the second to last
week of the season. Bucks win, they get in the playoffs.
The Packers, who were a division rival at the time, Yes,
have to win and get help to get in, which
they do not get. The Packers win the game, they
do not get the help though.
Speaker 2 (01:52:51):
Does Did the Rams end up making the playoffs? Yes?
Speaker 1 (01:52:54):
Remember I told you they lost to Aaron Brooks in
the Yes, said the New Orleans Saints, who are, by
the way, at the time, those were rivals at the time,
both in the NFC West.
Speaker 2 (01:53:02):
The Saints.
Speaker 1 (01:53:03):
Yes, that's so weird. What Yeah, that's weird. No, that's
that's so weird. That was football back then. As I said,
I think there were like six teams in the Central
like the Titans and the Jaguars, the Steelers, the Browns,
the Ravens, and the Bengals.
Speaker 2 (01:53:19):
Yeah. Six, that's weird.
Speaker 1 (01:53:21):
They're like, yeah, let's get read, let's get this realignment
thing going, like right now, how about that? Yeah, So
we're gonna look at the best betle warder r.
Speaker 2 (01:53:28):
Yeah, we'll kick that off with that. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:53:30):
If you were betting, then what would the money line
have looked like?
Speaker 2 (01:53:33):
The odds?
Speaker 1 (01:53:34):
How sure are risky? This would have been what.
Speaker 2 (01:53:36):
Did you get? So? I got you the money line,
that spread and the over under. Okay, what do we
have our typical three the money line going into this,
the Rams were obviously the favorites. They were coming off
of a super Bowl champion super Bowl championship. Excuse me?
They were minus one seventy five on the money line.
The Bucks were plus one fifty. But again this was
the revenge game.
Speaker 1 (01:53:55):
Sous or plus one fifty isn't that crazy?
Speaker 2 (01:53:59):
You know? Right? So obviously the Rams were the favorite,
even though they were on the road, just because of
how talented that offense was, But the Bucks were no slouch. Essentially,
the spread on this game, the Rams were favorites by
four and a half points. The Bucks were getting four
and a half points, so they had to lose by
(01:54:20):
five or less. And I think even when the Rams
were winning at the end it was what thirty five
to thirty one, The final score was what thirty eight
to thirty five. Yes, So even when it was thirty
five to thirty one, this spread would have covered if
you took the Bucks correct. So either way, either way,
like I mean the Rams, if you took the Rams,
they lost, So.
Speaker 1 (01:54:39):
Rams were they well, the Rams were a four point favorite.
Speaker 2 (01:54:41):
Or no, ok yeah, four and a half points, so
it was they had to they had to win by
basically five points, and then.
Speaker 1 (01:54:47):
They would have covered the spread if you took the Bucks.
Speaker 2 (01:54:49):
Right, and then the over under would have been the
would have been forty four and a half points. Over
was a little bit more favorited at minus one fifteen.
The under was minus one oh five, but I'm pretty
sure the over would have hit forty four and a
half was the over under? Yeah, okay, got it. And
obviously it was what thirty eight thirty five we said,
so they scored almost Yeah, it was like sixty seventy points. Yeah,
(01:55:11):
so the best bet here, Yes, I probably would have
taken the spread. That's probably my best bet.
Speaker 1 (01:55:19):
I probably would have taken the spread as well, because
and then in this regard, they were evenly matched because
the Bucks had a better defense and they were known
for him knew the.
Speaker 2 (01:55:27):
Fuck you knew it. Wasn't gonna be a blowout one
way or another. You kind of you kind of knew
going into what you expected.
Speaker 1 (01:55:32):
These two teams needed to get a win to get
into the playoffs, so there's a lot of that going
on when it.
Speaker 2 (01:55:37):
Happens, or maybe even the over just because I would
have expected a lot of offense too. But in theory,
so we both would have taken the Bucks on the spread.
But in theory the Bucks money line would have been
the best thing because it's plus money. Yeah, and obviously
they won, so your best bet would have been the
Bucks money line, but we would have taken the spread.
That would have been our.
Speaker 1 (01:55:57):
Play worst Athletic Moment award? What went terribly wrong? Was
it a choke of collapse or just playing bad luck?
Speaker 2 (01:56:03):
What do you got? My worst athletic moment is like
a compilation of just the interceptions between I guess both quarterbacks,
but mainly Kurt Warner.
Speaker 1 (01:56:12):
Warner.
Speaker 2 (01:56:13):
It felt like the defense was really well, that's where
I'm going. The defense was really good, but it just
felt like the quarterbacks were just like, I don't know,
gunning it up there. Like the last pick. It was
literally like, Kurt, why don't we make a play, check
down to the sideline, like look for something else, like
take a sack or something. Don't just throw it away,
like what are we doing? You know?
Speaker 1 (01:56:33):
To me, it was the Rams defense they got exposed.
Speaker 2 (01:56:36):
That's true too. I can't agree with.
Speaker 1 (01:56:39):
That because those division rival Norleyans Saints would look at
this game film again and barely eke out the first
ever winning franchise history in the wild Card Game several
weeks later against those Mighty Saint Louis Rams with Marshall
Fulk with Kurt Warner with Isaac Bruce, Tory.
Speaker 2 (01:56:58):
Hole, the Hall of Fame offense or Lando Pace Orlendo Pace. Yeah,
like it wasn't just even their skill players. Like their
line was good, like they were that offense is one
of the greatest offenses of all time. And uh, it's
crazy to think that they had such an exposed defense.
You know, it's really just in this game, it was
really just dre Bli and like London Fletcher.
Speaker 1 (01:57:20):
The secondary for the most part was really good. There
were times where you know, Keishawn Johnson would torch them.
Speaker 2 (01:57:25):
And oh that's the other thing. You're going up against
a great wide receiver.
Speaker 1 (01:57:28):
A possession that's a possessions receiver.
Speaker 2 (01:57:31):
Again. He he makes a living off catching the ball.
Throw me the damn ball.
Speaker 1 (01:57:35):
Yeah, okay, no, but no, how a possessions receiver was
able to torch them for a couple of times was
kind of beyond me. Other than that, the Rams defense
i think got exposed and they were really never really
the same after that. Defensive wise, they had to make
some changes and they never really did. They concentrated more
on offense.
Speaker 2 (01:57:56):
Right again, it was the greatest show on turf. That
offense was the local point of the team.
Speaker 1 (01:58:01):
The Peak Physical Specimen Award who looked like the ultimate
athlete you're talking physique and endurance and dominance. I'm going
to give it to the two thousand NFL MVP and
Marshall Fulk.
Speaker 2 (01:58:10):
I'm giving it to Marshall Falk as well, but I'm
also going to give it to work Done because they
both just they were the stars of the game.
Speaker 1 (01:58:16):
Both number twenty eight. The last laugh in the end
ended up being Warwick Done. Yep, he got that leap
into the end zone.
Speaker 2 (01:58:23):
And how many touchdowns you speak? He had like they
did three or four? Again, Yeah, both of them had
like three or four Marshall Falk had four touchdowns. I
can't remember if work Done had four, but I know
he had like three of them. Yes, so it is
I had the game winner, right, I'm going to give
it to both of them. I think normally I don't
like to give duos you're new co, but I did.
I did a CO for the worst athletic moment. So
(01:58:44):
I figured I have to be respectful because Marshall Falk,
I think really deserves it. But work Done had just
as good of her performance as him today in this game.
And I have to where did Marshall Faulk go to college?
I don't know, San Diego State? Wow? Really an AS Tech? Yeah? Okay,
yeah he's an AS Tech. Yeah that's right.
Speaker 1 (01:59:03):
So Marshall Falk for me and you have both Marshall
Fulk and Warwick Done were running back studs in this game,
and they did not disappoint.
Speaker 2 (01:59:11):
No id that. Like I said, it was every big
play that you really got to see was like a
running play from one. It was one of them breaking loose,
like Marshall Falk had like a twenty or thirty yard
you know touchdown. It was the screen passed to work
Done for like a twenty thirty yard touchdowns all almost
every score was work done or Marshall fulk.
Speaker 1 (01:59:31):
Best sports nickname, who had the most legendary nickname, hilarious,
perfectly fitting, or all of the above, Mine, of course,
is Mike You're in good hands with all Stott.
Speaker 2 (01:59:40):
I'm gonna go with a Train, his other nickname that
he was known for, But I do like Mike You're
in good hands all Stott. That's a good one.
Speaker 1 (01:59:47):
Because you get the All State all Start. Okay, that's
you know who came up with that?
Speaker 2 (01:59:50):
Right? Who? Who do you think was it? Was? It?
What it was? Chris Boomer. I'm gonna I'm gonna go
with this traditional name because I just love the age train.
I like it's a name that I've heard other people use.
But when I think of a Tran, I think of
all Start.
Speaker 1 (02:00:06):
Mike, You're in good hands with all Stott. I wonder
if he ever was able to get an all All
State an advert.
Speaker 2 (02:00:12):
You know, I'm surprised he he kind of like some
pros fade out of of the league like when right
like they Tom Brady when he retired, he went right
but right into the booth. He's a minority owner. He's
still around, and.
Speaker 1 (02:00:28):
Then he still does advertisements and for other stuff.
Speaker 2 (02:00:31):
Yeah, think about like even Joe name it or not
Joe name Joe Montana excuse me, like Montana does like
you know, old medicine commercials or something like. Yeah, like
you know, he Dames right, like he's even though he's
not Irish, he's still kind of in the football world.
Speaker 1 (02:00:51):
Like does he got right?
Speaker 2 (02:00:53):
You know what I mean? Like Mike Alstott was such
a good player, he's a Hall of Famer. Like he
he's not in the Hall of Fame.
Speaker 1 (02:00:59):
He should be a Hall of Fame. I think he's
a Tampa Bay Bucks Hall of Famer or Ring of
Fame or whatever they can.
Speaker 2 (02:01:05):
He should be in the Hall of Fame. I think
he deserves the stats. Anyway, he doesn't have the stats.
That's another time we'll argue about that. But I think
that he deserves to be in the Hall of Fame.
Speaker 1 (02:01:13):
I think I think he's in the Purdue Hall of Fame.
Speaker 2 (02:01:14):
But he like fell out of the limelight, like he
didn't want he didn't stick around with broadcasting. He didn't
you know, he's not with the buzz. Yeah, you know,
he's not still involved with the league.
Speaker 1 (02:01:26):
Really, where is he? That's what I'm saying. That's what
I'm saying. That's the whole reason I brought it up.
It is like, where is Michael Start?
Speaker 2 (02:01:31):
Like why are we not getting just some commentary talking
about fullbacks? Like let me, let me get a pro
full back talking about fullbacks? Bring him back?
Speaker 1 (02:01:38):
Where have you gone? My golf star? Lonely Nation turns
its eyes to you.
Speaker 2 (02:01:45):
Woo woo woo.
Speaker 1 (02:01:47):
Best Mike Work Award, Who talked the Talk, Best Interviews,
trash Talker sound.
Speaker 2 (02:01:52):
Bites, what's your gout? It's al Michaels, It's al Michaels. Yeah,
and just he is there? Any quote anything? No quote? Specifically,
the best quote of the night actually goes to Dennis Miller. Yes,
I go ahead with the quote. I can't even.
Speaker 1 (02:02:05):
Remember exactly what it was, but he was like he's
building a castle for Archimedes out there or something like that.
Speaker 2 (02:02:10):
Barbecue y yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, he's setting up a.
Speaker 1 (02:02:12):
Barbecue in though it looks like he's got a barbecue
in the backyard.
Speaker 2 (02:02:15):
Arcamede, he's castled or something like that. That was the
best quote. But al Michaels is you know, if you're
a bethead.
Speaker 1 (02:02:22):
If you been around with us and you hang out,
you know, al Michaels is getting it from me.
Speaker 2 (02:02:27):
He's the guy.
Speaker 1 (02:02:27):
He No one calls a better game than Al.
Speaker 2 (02:02:30):
He just it's Bob Costas in in baseball and it's
Al Michaels and football. Those are the two best that
do it really.
Speaker 1 (02:02:40):
And I think Miller and Foults really or Fouts and
Miller really complimented him for this game.
Speaker 2 (02:02:45):
Oh yeah, they three the booth was great. I love
the three man booth. Not we don't get that nowadays
as much. It's mainly just two booths, like the two manner.
But I like the three man booth. Get like more
opinions in there, you know, and just more diverse city
in language when people are speaking on the game and
giving insight.
Speaker 1 (02:03:04):
If CBS goes to a three man booth with Nance
and Romo, who's that third person? You would add? I
have one in mind. Let's see if we're on the
same wavelength.
Speaker 2 (02:03:13):
There, Okay, because I have one. Yeah, I don't know
how much. I kind of like this is going to
be a hot take. I do not.
Speaker 1 (02:03:19):
I do not think we have the same guy. I
actually CBS yeah, CBS.
Speaker 2 (02:03:27):
I don't know. Maybe there's a couple of options I
would actually go. Now now I'm changing my idea, okay,
because I was thinking like at first with CBS, I
can't even remember who I was thinking now, But now
I'm thinking like maybe Bill Cower. Uh, you know, like
some one of the guys off the desk, like maybe
like a Boomer.
Speaker 1 (02:03:45):
I wouldn't Massiasin has already better that they don't want
to do. The quarterback you know, mine is right? Who
JJ Watt?
Speaker 2 (02:03:51):
Okay, yes, okay, a defensive be.
Speaker 1 (02:03:55):
Down because JJ Watt is going to the Hall of Fame.
Speaker 2 (02:03:57):
Yes, and he is.
Speaker 1 (02:03:58):
He's eligible. I think in two or three years.
Speaker 2 (02:04:00):
He's great in front of a camp. Yeah. He talks
very well. He's very well spoken.
Speaker 1 (02:04:04):
So I think if they were going to go to
that route, if they were to go down that road,
I mean, I don't know, Jada Ja ja ja dog.
Speaker 2 (02:04:14):
I don't know. What do you think, Jane, I don't
I don't know. JJ, he might.
Speaker 1 (02:04:24):
Jim and JJ. Tony Romo's head is going to explode.
Speaker 2 (02:04:28):
I don't know, JJ.
Speaker 1 (02:04:32):
Just anything that has like a JA or yeah, a generation,
He's gonna go nuts here. We goiled and the Coolest
Moment Award The absolute chillest, slickest, sickest moment could be
a celebration, walk off or icy stare down. I think
the camera shot with the guy that had revenge, I.
Speaker 2 (02:04:57):
Can get down with that. I like that. I I
think the revenge sign is cool and all. I was
thinking like, if we needed like a thumbnail for this,
like playback, I feel like that.
Speaker 1 (02:05:08):
I already have the thumbnail unfortunately, right, but I'm saying like,
if we had to have one that point, it would
have been great. Like that revenge sign the ABC camera
they didn't like immediately, no, they had it there, oh fast,
it felt like like a thousand years and.
Speaker 2 (02:05:22):
Well, yeah, you didn't see that sign all game. They
were like actually going two signs too, Like they were
showing a lot of oh yeah, the whole game.
Speaker 1 (02:05:29):
You know what, there were a lot of signs that
James Stadium. That dude had that one tugged away the
whole game, and as soon as it was over, he
was just like.
Speaker 2 (02:05:37):
That was great.
Speaker 1 (02:05:39):
And then did it age? Well looking back, does it
hold up any context changes or does it feel cringey?
Speaker 2 (02:05:45):
Now? To me, this game does not hold up. Wow,
you never say that. You never say that. Tell me why.
Speaker 1 (02:05:53):
I think there's other Monday night football games from the
year two thousand that are better. The Revenge game is
a good game because of you have the Rams, who
are the defending champs, who beat the Bucks controversially. When
I say controversially, if you look back, there is a
call that should have went Tampa Bay's way and it
was a crucial one. No one really talks about it
(02:06:15):
for some reason. I actually remember watching that game thinking, okay,
they and the cameras were actually I think Fox actually
want and I don't mean to sound conspiratorial here, I
think Fox actually wanted the Rams to win that game.
So they didn't really spend a lot of time on
that on the review great right, even though Madden insisted
that they do that, and they did so later on,
(02:06:36):
because it was this Madden Summer All Game, the NFC
championship game to get to the Super Bowl, whereas it
was Gumble, the late great Greg Gumbel and Phil Simms
on CBS's side for the Jags and the Titans. So
but this is a rematch of the NFC title game
from months before that. Now Here we are near Christmas
(02:06:56):
of two thousand, at the end of the year contentious
presidential election, as we saw signs.
Speaker 2 (02:07:02):
Yes that said if we lose, we will we demand
a recount.
Speaker 1 (02:07:05):
Yes, yeah, yeah, so apropos for the times that were so,
but for that for the most part, and I love
the year two thousand. We're twenty five years later from
the year two thousand.
Speaker 2 (02:07:16):
My back hurts.
Speaker 1 (02:07:19):
Everything hurts. Yeah, my heart hurts even talking about that.
Because I was a senior at Conquered High School. Again,
I didn't see this game, So I.
Speaker 2 (02:07:28):
Think it holds up only because I think that this
is a like a definition. Again, I like to go
off of like does this does this how do I
want to word it? Hold up? Does not? Well? Yeah,
I mean yes, but does it display what true football
(02:07:49):
is to me?
Speaker 1 (02:07:50):
Like?
Speaker 2 (02:07:50):
Is this a good football game? Is it a like
if I wanted to find a European or who had
never watched like a European I love that a foreigner,
a foreigner who had never watched like American football before,
I wanted to show them, like could I show them
this game and like convince them that this is a
great sport?
Speaker 1 (02:08:10):
And yes, I don't know. From two thousand like lots
changed from two thousand.
Speaker 2 (02:08:15):
See I know, and not again, not every game is
going to be that way like the nineteen seventies, like
the first you know game we watched. It's like that
game isn't as exciting. There's a lot of more there's
a lot of mistakes, but it again, it still capsule,
encapsulated like what football was in the seventies. Yes, I
(02:08:37):
thought it was going to become.
Speaker 1 (02:08:39):
I think this game also still capsules capsulate, capsulates.
Speaker 2 (02:08:43):
Thank you. I couldn't say that for a second. I
think this game still capsulates that because, like, look at
the violence of the game. Now. Of course that's changed
with injuries and things like that and how people you know,
try to protect themselves. But at the same time, on
the other side of the coin, the game has gotten
faster and you know, almost more violent because of the
(02:09:04):
speed of the game. Absolutely, but I thought this captured
that violence that a lot of people, you know, maybe
your age, maybe a little bit older than you, maybe
my age that you know, grew up watching football with
big hits, exciting plays, airing the ball out, big runs
(02:09:24):
like this had everything you could ask for in a
football game except maybe like some exciting special teams. And
even then, the kick returns were pretty good.
Speaker 1 (02:09:31):
Kick returns for for the most part, for the Bucks
were really.
Speaker 2 (02:09:33):
Good, right, Like no scores, but you know, we had
field goals, we had intersects, were getting bowls.
Speaker 1 (02:09:39):
Like to your point though, with the special teams, they
were doing their job. The way I see it is this,
if you can't score a touchdown, you've at least gotten
your offense in really good field position to do what
they need to do.
Speaker 2 (02:09:51):
Yeah, if you get them, you know. Now it's different
with the kickoff, It's yeah, it's a whole different. It's
evolved so much, right, But like back then, if you
got it to like the thirty yard line, it was
like you got your team good field position to start
the game, you know, like two first downs and they're
on the other side of the field. So it's like,
I think this game does hold up because I think
it's just a staple, true American football game. And I
(02:10:13):
think that both of these teams are great, like historic
football teams. Like not saying organizations so not like the
Rams and the Bucks overall. I'm just saying, like, no, the.
Speaker 1 (02:10:24):
Rams have gotten a better organization as of late. I
mean they've got a great coach and Sean McVay, and
they've won a Super Bowl in the last few years.
Speaker 2 (02:10:30):
Same with the Tampa Bay Bucks.
Speaker 1 (02:10:32):
Have a good organization because they've gotten this quarterback situation
sorted out because Jameis Winston. Now, how long Jameis Winston
had the most yards in Tampa Bay Bucks history in
terms of the season, No, how long he had it
for two years. Tom Brady comes along and it's Jamis who.
Speaker 2 (02:10:48):
I liked Winston too, but he just he throws too
many picks. But that was the thing.
Speaker 1 (02:10:53):
He either threw too many picks or he threw as
many touchdowns as an interception.
Speaker 2 (02:10:57):
I still respect that he airs it out.
Speaker 1 (02:10:59):
Like, where Didjay was Winston go to college?
Speaker 2 (02:11:01):
He's another f s U G.
Speaker 1 (02:11:02):
There you go.
Speaker 2 (02:11:02):
Yeah, I knew he didn't have to go. He didn't.
Speaker 1 (02:11:04):
He didn't have to go too far. Yeah to Tampa.
Speaker 2 (02:11:06):
Tampa's got a pipeline. Yeah, they're just a pipeline. It's
the same state and the Georgia Bulldogs go to Philly
in the in the city. Notice that, yeah the same. Yeah.
Well that's a smart decision, that's.
Speaker 1 (02:11:21):
Okay, all right, But that's like going to Wisconsin, but
not playing for Green Bay, you know what I mean.
Speaker 2 (02:11:26):
Maybe no, it'd be like going to Wisconsin and playing
for like the Cowboys or you know what I mean,
Like I mean, yeah, not playing for Green Bay essentially,
like I know it.
Speaker 1 (02:11:36):
I mean in state, Yeah, like no Tree Dame. They
usually would play for the like the Raiders with the Bears, right, yeah,
for the most part. Yeah, Well, Indiana is near Chicago anyway,
so I guess you have that going for you also,
like us C USC and and and and and and
the Rams or USC and the Chargers. You know, you
don't really see that often. Yeah, it's weird how that
works in football, isn't it. You'd think like the Native
(02:11:58):
Sun would play for It only seems to work out
in Florida. If you've noticed, you don't see you don't
see Hofstra really.
Speaker 2 (02:12:05):
Well, it depends on me. It depends on the GM.
It's all the GM who's making the calls. Really, it's no.
Speaker 1 (02:12:11):
I understand that. I understand that, And I see what
you're saying. It's like, not like we don't see a
lot of BC players playing for the Patriots.
Speaker 2 (02:12:17):
Well even then, it's like Tampa's probably had a couple
of gms since two thousand oh for sure, and they
still keep drafting players from Florida to Florida State, which
is crazy. So it's crazy how that keeps happening.
Speaker 1 (02:12:30):
That is no and the Revenge Game, and we're gonna
have more Classic Monday Night Football action coming up in
the not too distant future. Every single Monday in the
season of twenty twenty five. We've already got this is
our our third week. We got fifteen more of these
babies to go, so keep it tight for that, keep
it tuned. Also, of course, we've got six games of
the nineteen ninety five World Series down the pike. We've
(02:12:53):
got Game six of the nineteen seventy five World Series,
which will be premiering on October twenty first. It will
mark fifty years to the day, so we're gonna have that.
In addition to Classic Monday Night Football, we are going
to move the Imperfect Game between Detroit and Cleveland to November.
We're gonna do that. Instead, We're not gonna we want
(02:13:14):
to keep postseason baseball in postseason. We don't want to.
We don't want to muck it up as it were.
Also John Cena's last match will now be in Washington,
d C. It will not be in Boston on Saturday
Night's main event. It will now be in Washington, d C.
They moved the venues.
Speaker 2 (02:13:31):
Where is they going to be in DC at the
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (02:13:35):
If it's gonna be the Capital One Arena or a
smaller venue.
Speaker 2 (02:13:38):
I don't know yet.
Speaker 1 (02:13:39):
But when it does, we're gonna have one of John
Cena's most classic matchups, which was going What will premiere
on that Saturday, which will be December thirteenth, I believe,
If not, they might they actually may have moved it
up to two more weeks after Christmas. We're gonna let
you know, though, we are going to have a classic
John Cena match because his end is near as a
professional wrestler, not as an actor. You get a long
(02:14:00):
way to go for that. Yes, and also siege the
Miracle on Ice. We are going to do that, and
Ken Dryden recently passed away. Yes, and Al Michaels and
Ken Ryden called that action. We're going to do that
in December, because that's going to mark forty forty five
years since it happened. That's crazy in January of nineteen eighty, right, Yes,
(02:14:23):
we're also getting you ready for the twenty twenty six
Winter Olympic Games, which are going to take place in
Italy and Sochi. Right, No Milana, no Sochi, Sohi was
twenty fourteen Milano?
Speaker 2 (02:14:34):
Co How did I say, soci? Why do I say
random things?
Speaker 1 (02:14:37):
Because you've got twenty fourteen on the brain for some reason.
Speaker 2 (02:14:39):
Yeah, apparently I'm still try I'm still time traveling from
two thousand, trying to get back to twenty twenty five.
Speaker 1 (02:14:45):
A Future Boy. That's Michael J. Fox's new book, by
the way, okay, future because if you saw Back to
the Future, remember when he travels back and docs' so
long future Boy. They kind of picked up on that,
and I've actually called some of my friend's future boy.
They think it's funny insulting. But no, back to the future,
I should say, well, in the past or the whatever.
(02:15:08):
We're getting you ready for the twenty twenty six Winter
