Speaker 1 (00:00):
The following is a production of the Pulse podcast Network.
Speaker 2 (00:12):
In this edition of the Playback, Jadagg and CJ look
back on Game three of the nineteen ninety five World
Series as the Atlanta Braves face the Cleveland Indians on
October twenty fourth, nineteen ninety five from Jacobs Field in Cleveland, Ohio.
Speaker 1 (00:50):
Just its second year of existence. Jacobs Field, now Progressive Field,
hosts the World Series. Forty one years for Cleveland to
host a World siege. That's crazy.
Speaker 3 (01:01):
That's two generations, you know, back in the like the
seventeen hundreds, that was like a lifetime ripe old age
of forty one.
Speaker 1 (01:09):
And we've got surpassed a great, incredible lineup here again
this time by the way. Yeah, broadcast, Yes, has your
one of your favorites?
Speaker 3 (01:19):
We again, we didn't have We didn't segue two. We
only segue to the city. Yeah, we go from Atlanta
to Cleveland. Same broadcast team here in Game three, right
on NBC, right the Baseball Network, Bob Costas, Joe Morgan,
mister Baseball, Bob Yucker. Those two are no longer with us.
Those two are Hall of famers. All three are actually
Hall of famers. Costas for the Fort Sea Freck Wing
(01:42):
of the Hall of Fame, as is mister Baseball Bob
Yucker and Joe Morgan in as a player for the
Cincinnati Reds.
Speaker 1 (01:49):
Yeah, and the the graphics here NBC doing a great
job where me and Jay Dogg are both big NBC folks.
Speaker 3 (01:56):
Correct, I'm going to NBC in the summer next year,
that's the big news. I'm gonna tour thirty rock Radio
City Music Hall. Maybe get on a couple of the
show because again they're gonna be dark, So Fallon's gonna
be probably somewhere in New Hampshire. And Seth Myers, who's
from New Hampshire, he'll probably be somewhere. So that way,
(02:16):
there I can take a tour of take a tour
and sit down and do a monologue for Saturday Night Live. Yeah,
Chuck Naggy, by the way, Connecticut's own a New Englander
by the way.
Speaker 1 (02:27):
Love that, you know, it's funny. Maybe you can give
your thoughts on this, but I've always thought, you know,
growing up New Englanders, Yeah, they don't get along with
other New Englanders really well. New Hampshire people are very like, well,
you're not from New Hampshire. You're from Maine, or you're
from or you're from Massachusettsachusetts. New Hampshire is a border war.
That's a big border war. But I'm saying like, in general,
(02:50):
we're very proud people here in New England, and we're
all proud of the states we're from.
Speaker 3 (02:54):
There are some people that don't consider Connecticut New England.
Speaker 1 (02:57):
I know, New York, I know it's it's uh. I
understand that a lot of the fan bases are New
York fans in Connecticut, but I still Connecticut's New England
New England. Yeah, it feels yeah. But so my point
being is, we're all proud from New England. But when
I lived down south, the people I got along with
(03:19):
the most, Yeah, we're all from New England. I love
New Englanders. They were. Yeah, it wasn't no, we all
and and of course because we come from.
Speaker 3 (03:26):
Southern hospitality is in theory.
Speaker 1 (03:29):
Yeah, that's true that if you're not Southern, you don't
get the hospitality. So that's why they call it Southern hospitality. Yeah,
so it's uh, it's always exciting. I'm excited for Uh.
I'm gonna be kind of rooting for Naggy. I feel
like in this game, especially Grissom leads off for the Braves.
Speaker 3 (03:44):
We have a two games to none lead. This is
game three of them out to say five World Series.
This is Chuck Naggi versus John Smoltz. We get the
third guy. Yeah, I know, of the Big three. I'm
excited that I'm rooting for Naggy.
Speaker 1 (03:57):
Uh. I was about to say it just as you
said it, because I want to see Cleveland try and
get one here and keep it a competitive series. They're
at home first time, you know, in forty one years
they've been able to host a World.
Speaker 3 (04:09):
Series and only their second year at the time. Jacob's
Field now Progressive Field.
Speaker 1 (04:13):
Did you ever get to go to Jacob's Field? Were
you ever able to attend that? When did it become
Progressive two thousand and eight? And so that was like
before you ever got to go out there. Okay. My
graduation present for Conquered High School was supposed to be
this is from my dad, was supposed to be, as
Grissom has it right till Lofton, So fellow outfielder, first
(04:35):
out fellow speedsmen who would be traded for each other
in ninety seven. By the way, my graduation present was
going to be Cleveland, the weekend series against the Saint
Louis cardinalsoo and Pooholes was a rookie that year. Ooh,
Mark mcaguire was still playing. Ooh what wait, so what
(04:56):
year did what year was this?
Speaker 3 (04:57):
This was two thousand and one. Okay, well the present
never happens, and I am just crushed. Yeah, I was
gonna finally go out there. We're gonna go on the
bus and bus are away to Cleveland for a weekend
series against the Saint Louis Cardinals. McGuire hits a grand
(05:19):
slam in one of the games. Jim Tomy hits a
walk off.
Speaker 1 (05:22):
Oh my gosh.
Speaker 3 (05:24):
Boles hits a tape measure shot in one of the games.
Speaker 1 (05:27):
Oh my god. Yeah, that's brutal. Yeah, so you never
got to make it to Jacob's field, then I take it,
no from that story.
Speaker 3 (05:34):
Not from Jacob.
Speaker 1 (05:35):
No. Now, when it became Progressive Field, it's a it's
the same field essentially, right, Like I mean, there's probably
been some changes.
Speaker 3 (05:43):
It's a lot of adjustments. Yeah, a lot of a
lot of construction updates on the like out two down, excuse.
Speaker 1 (05:53):
Me, Polonia is out.
Speaker 3 (05:54):
He grounds out and I don't go until twenty eighteen.
My best friend, it's Jim Tomy weekend. I missed out
seeing him play in Cleveland, So you know what, why
don't you go see him get retired with his number
and everything.
Speaker 1 (06:09):
That was your first time going to Yeah to Progressive
was twenty eighteen.
Speaker 3 (06:12):
Twenty eighteen. Wow, Chipper Jones at the dish. Yeah, that's crazy.
I didn't get to Cleveland until the year twenty eighteen.
Speaker 1 (06:19):
That's crazy, I see because I've known you for probably
like almost two years now three years about yes, And
I could have sworn you had been married before that,
Like you could have. You could have convinced me otherwise,
you're obviously such a huge fan.
Speaker 3 (06:31):
I could have lied and said that, Yeah, no, I'm.
Speaker 1 (06:34):
Chipper lays one down in between. That's a double. Oh
it's off the wall. Yeah, and Kenny gets it into
the cutoff, stand up.
Speaker 3 (06:44):
Double, stand up double for two down by the.
Speaker 1 (06:46):
Way, clean uni for Chipper Jones. YEP. One of the
best bats in Atlanta's lineup and obviously a rookie this season.
I mean, what an impressive player though he can't hate
and that's the thing I think Red Sox fans grow
up that way. But I think it's also just baseball
fans in general are very app to tip their cap
(07:07):
to to talent. I feel like in other sports rivalries,
I mean, obviously Red Sox fans aren't ever really going
to compliment Yankees fans, and there's rivalries are still going
to be rivalries. But the crime dog Fred McGriff at
the dish tipping your hat to like, good play, Chipper Jones,
great player, Like he's been incredible in this series so far.
He had that one blunder I think in what game one,
(07:28):
on the game two, he had an error in the field,
but then he made the final put away on a
speedy Kenny Lofton or something like that, and it was like,
I mean, great, great play.
Speaker 3 (07:37):
In one of the innings. It wasn't yeah, yeah, not
the end.
Speaker 1 (07:39):
The game, like one of the one of the later outs,
Like after he made that error, it was a key,
key play. He had to make a tough throw on
one of the fastest guys in the league. McGriff.
Speaker 3 (07:51):
This I believe was a Tuesday in nineteen ninety five,
if I remember correctly, Yes, Saturday Game one, Sunday Game two,
travel day.
Speaker 1 (07:58):
To Cleveland and then Tuesday Game three, McGriff lays one
in and that's probably gonna score Chipper.
Speaker 3 (08:05):
Yeah, there he is one nothing.
Speaker 1 (08:09):
One nothing in a clean Atlanta uniform. No one has
had to get dirty yet with two down. Yes, that's
that's a thing that I think most good teams, or
some of the what divides the great teams from good
teams is two out hitting. I think two out hitting
is so important when you it's it's that clutch factor
(08:30):
that can't really be measured. This is probably the closest
thing you can measure to. It is how good a
team does with two outs with their back against the
wall essentially, and Chipper Jones, I mean, comes through clutch,
gets on base, McGriff drives them home, easy money. Justice
now Dave Justice at the DO and it just doesn't
get any easier. It's just gonna it's gonna continue to
be a tough outing here for Cleveland of the although
(08:52):
David Justice two eighty six two RBIs he's two for
four so far. I mean, he's all right. He wasn't
batting that hot throughout the postseason in general, but he's
doing all right right right now.
Speaker 3 (09:05):
Still not We've got guys that can help him though.
Speaker 1 (09:07):
In the he's not the hottest bad but he doesn't
need to be Yea. So Naggi has a six point
two eight e r A in the first inning of
games and has a four point I think it was
two eight the graphic cutaway. We got a collision out
in the outfield. Who that was close? Those two did
(09:29):
not get along, by the way, Yeah, well I could.
I could have guessed that Bell and Belle and Viscale
is Bell? Why isn't Bell calling him off? Or is
viscal just not listening? But that ends the first the
top anyways, not too much damage now moving right through.
Speaker 3 (09:50):
You're taking on John Smoltz though, yeah, one of my
favorite Uh look at those flashlight I know that's cool,
the bulbs one of my favorite commentators nowadays, or I
should say analyst as small as I was calling the
World Series again this year as the Los Angeles Dodge
Jays take on the Toronto Blue Jays in the World
(10:11):
Series for Fox and LA trying to repeat, whereas Toronto
trying to win their first World Series since last time
they got there nineteen ninety three.
Speaker 1 (10:21):
It's no secret you're not a Dodgers fan, correct you?
Who you excited to see play the most this World.
Speaker 3 (10:28):
Series Flattie Junior.
Speaker 1 (10:30):
Yeah, I feel like his dad got there.
Speaker 3 (10:33):
But towards the end of his career, do you remember
the team he played for when he was in the
World Series.
Speaker 1 (10:37):
It wasn't when he was with the Angels, was it? No?
Who was it?
Speaker 3 (10:40):
It was the twenty ten Texas Rangers.
Speaker 1 (10:43):
Yes, I do remember that was that? That wasn't the
David Freeze.
Speaker 3 (10:47):
No, this was the mad Bum rookie year twenty ten
season also mad Bums were and so was Buster Posey
Posy the dynasty that started for the Giants when they
won that in five games?
Speaker 1 (11:01):
Mad But was that was Lynsicam on the team then? Yes?
Oh yeah, that was a solid Giants team.
Speaker 3 (11:06):
Yeah, Sonny, I picked them to win in spring training
over the Minnesota Tweans in five games. So I got
the wrong. I got the wrong ex Washington Senators franchise.
It was the Texas Rangers instead, And that's funny. So
in spring training I said the Giants are gonna win
the World Series in five games, and you're.
Speaker 1 (11:23):
Like, nah, Sometimes I feel like us US folks that
work in the sports media world, sometimes you can just
I don't know about you, but like the year the
Eagles won the World or the Super Bowl, excuse me,
the first time I had made a bet with my boss.
It's I've talked about this story a lot, but I
may He ended up wearing a two two because we
(11:44):
bet whoever. He bet the Patriots would have a better
season than the Eagles. Like week one, like first minute
of the season.
Speaker 3 (11:51):
Kenny Lofton leading off bought of the first for Cleveland
in Cleveland.
Speaker 1 (11:54):
And week two, U and I bet that the Eagles
would have a better season than the Patriots, and he
bet that the Patriots had have a better season. They
ended up beating They faced each other in the Super Bowl,
which was crazy. The odds that that happened were probably astronomical,
Like if I had guessed that at the beginning of
the season, but I just knew the Eagles had it
in him that season, Like and I could tell before
the season even started. You can just get almost like
(12:15):
a feeling, Kenny Lofton, fouls went off, by the way,
And I don't know if you're like that, if you
if you've you know, like when you predicted that, did
you have just like some sort of feeling like beforehand,
like almost I.
Speaker 3 (12:29):
Heard about Buster Posey the pitching rotation was not too shabby,
So Bruce Bochie I think was you know.
Speaker 1 (12:36):
You never go with intuition though, you go with like
just a feeling. Yeah, yeah, that's all I feel that.
I'm a big I'm big on my intuition. I trust myself.
I trust my gut a lot, which is probably why
I started off that this this season one in five
for the NFL. Look at him, go cameraman can barely
(12:58):
keep locked onto him, to need a golf cameraman to
keep it? What if that tell you? Yeah, exactly.
Speaker 3 (13:05):
Look at that logo. Yep, welcome to the show. Yeah,
oh they're still around.
Speaker 1 (13:09):
We got some ads in this one, yep, some little
blip ads. I'm all for it. I like seeing the
old school cotton incorporated, the old mudwise a kid with
the USA Olympic team logo. All right, the Olympics ninety six?
What was that in Atlanta? Right? That's cool?
Speaker 3 (13:28):
Not Cleveland. No, that's by the way, old Cleveland Stadium.
Why it was so spacious it was built for the
nineteen thirty six I believe they were trying to get
the nineteen thirty six Olympics and they didn't get it.
Speaker 1 (13:41):
That's crazy. I've always thought of that, like when they, yeah,
when they build stadiums and stuff like that for events
and then it doesn't happen. It's like and we wasted.
What Now we have this giant concrete like monument. What
are we gonna do with it? Exactly? Or it's like
even just old stadiums in general, like the Sonics, I mean,
(14:02):
like the Seattle Super Sonics until I mean, I don't
know if the crack.
Speaker 3 (14:05):
And Arena they've essentially built around it. It's because you
know why the Sonics moved, right, Why because David Stern,
the commissioner of the NBA at the time, said you
got to get a new venue or you got to.
Speaker 1 (14:19):
Move the real quick. Kenny Lofton, I believe they haven't
shown it yet. I think you still no, you didn't
steal second. It looked like you took Okay, Nope, you
were saying.
Speaker 3 (14:30):
They said you got to build a new venue or
you got to go because at the time, again, the
Key Arena is one of the oldest venues in the
NBA and and not modern.
Speaker 1 (14:40):
You got to be modern, right, But even then, like
so when when the Sonics left. It was just like
they just had this stadium sitting there and and I
mean there's arena arenas and stadiums that are are still up,
like right there, lotu bro when I Skell's a oh,
(15:05):
Lofton's gone. Yeah right, yeah, I just eat it. If
I'm the if I'm the cutoff man, that was a
triple safe, there was a triple Yeah if a SkELL
got a triple wow, Okay, it's a solid hit. No outs.
Speaker 3 (15:21):
Yeah, the camera couldn't keep up with it. I know
the camera was doing where Lofton was running and where
the ball was going. They kept it on Lofton before
they went where the ball was. I was crazy.
Speaker 1 (15:31):
We got a tie ball game. I'm surprised. Smoltz looks
not that good. I mean, not a good start to
hit zero outs, Lofton's already come home, and you got
a guy on third pass ball, pop fly, anything's gonna
give the give Cleveland the lead. Yeah, Oh my gosh.
Speaker 3 (15:58):
You have to go to this field. You have.
Speaker 1 (16:00):
I want to see every every baseball fap to go
to put this arena. This place is great. I go
every year. Yes, Well, that's why I thought you had
been before twenty eighteen is because I know how frequently
you go. Now I know, and obviously you're a Cleveland diehard.
Speaker 3 (16:15):
When I turned forty, I made the solemn vow that
I would go to every home opener, and I so
far I missed out.
Speaker 1 (16:22):
I wanted.
Speaker 3 (16:22):
I was trying to go to the twenty twenty two
but remember baseball was on strike. Yes, so instead of
them facing Kansas City.
Speaker 1 (16:31):
That should be a run though, right did he go?
Speaker 3 (16:33):
Scale scores nice with a baseball strike and ended up
being on Robinson Day on April fifteenth. That's cool hosting
the Santa Francisco Giants, But again I couldn't go right.
Speaker 1 (16:46):
The timing was thrown off.
Speaker 3 (16:48):
Flights and everything became Yeah.
Speaker 1 (16:50):
So I've never been to a home opener. I would
love to go. I want to go to as many
stadiums as possible, all of all sports. Like I mean,
I I don't really care love. I love sports so much.
I love the entertainment industry that I want to just
be a part of it, be around it. It's fun
to just be in that atmosphere. I'm so jealous, shouts
(17:12):
out to one of my best men at my wedding
and one of my best friends growing up, Brandon. He
is a software salesman and so he helps install or
he's not like a salesman. He works for a software
sales company and they sell software to sports stadiums so
they can you can buy food from the kiosks and
(17:36):
things like that, and he goes and travels all the time,
gets to see stadiums all the time, sending me videos.
He sent me a video of a giant Super Bowl
trophy the other day. I don't even know where he was,
but I'm just like, man, I'm so jealous, Like I
just want to go to all these places and be
able to step foot into these giant coliseums as we
described in the first two games of the playback Chip
(17:59):
or making a play that's two down on Albert Bell. Yeah, yep,
but yeah, I want to do whatever I can to
get out to these stadiums. I love seeing content creators
that do those like thirty stadiums in thirty days or
something where they try to see like.
Speaker 3 (18:16):
Remember, well, if you remember in spring training, right, thirty
clubs and thirty days was what MLB Network used to do.
So they did that way back in like two thousand
and nine ten, Right, thirty clubs and thirty days where
they'd spend half of them in Florida and half of
them in Arizona.
Speaker 1 (18:32):
Didn't. NFL didn't, didn't the four letter, four letter big mothership,
the mothership, Yeah, didn't. They used to do like a dish.
They did like an NFL training camp version of that
where they would take the bus during like training camp
to all the different camps. I would even do that too.
I had a great time I went to I know,
you went to Patriots training camp this pasture of twenty
(18:53):
twenty five, right and not? And something I didn't know
is not every team does open training camp, right. The
Philadelphia Eagles my favorite team, they only do I think,
like one practice that's open to the public. Yeah, and
that's going to do it for the inning. But the
Cleveland Indians take the lead.
Speaker 3 (19:12):
Going to the second inning to Clusco, Hobby Lopez and
Mark Lemke do up front Atlanta. Is that look at that?
That's what makes it.
Speaker 1 (19:20):
Is those those big overhead lights, well lights, Yeah, that's
what makes it.
Speaker 3 (19:24):
That's what makes progressive field progressive field essentially.
Speaker 1 (19:26):
I So what is different about the stadium that you
can like identify, right, now or is there anything like that?
You know they've changed that, Like, I wouldn't know.
Speaker 3 (19:37):
A lot of the green is gone really, like the
green that you see is gone. It's blue essentially.
Speaker 1 (19:43):
Really.
Speaker 3 (19:44):
The backstop is green still. I don't know how much
longer that's gonna be. They may change it to navy blue.
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (19:51):
The seating is blue seats now. These cages are gone. Now.
There was a time where a season ticket hollle could
be there and there right what a play get there
water out?
Speaker 3 (20:06):
Yea, the scale, the scale, the Venezuelan vacuum.
Speaker 1 (20:12):
This scale out here having a game. Yep. So you
said the back of the backstop screen, the cages are gone? Yeah,
so what are their seats there now? Yeah, there's just
seats now. Yeah. Okay, let me ask you what is
the best seat you've ever had for a Cleveland game? Oh?
Speaker 3 (20:31):
Okay, oh their last home game being known as the
as the Indians. Yes, when I went there, I was
right again. I was in back of home play.
Speaker 1 (20:42):
So oh nice. Yeah that's cool. Yep, I got to
sit the day game. You can you can catch the
footage of this on the playback and on bet this
pe bet this underscore. I I posted a video of
a trip I had seats behind the red Sox, uh
like backstop.
Speaker 3 (20:58):
Or it's in between the orioles, right.
Speaker 1 (21:00):
Yeah, in between the backstop and the dugout come? Are
they doing that game? They lost? Didn't send the runner
on third. I'll never forget that game for the rest
of my life.
Speaker 3 (21:08):
Manny Ramirez makes the catch.
Speaker 1 (21:10):
Yeah, after he won. He is the most recent winner
of the worst athletic.
Speaker 3 (21:15):
Moment and getting picked off at first in a key
moment that was brutal thanks to who was it? That
was Hovey Lopez. So that was basically Manny's saying guess
what I got you?
Speaker 1 (21:24):
Yeah? Yeah, but it doesn't matter now. I mean I
think Hovey Lopez is still getting the last laugh at
the moment. Mark Lemke at the dish, come on, make
that play? Had time? What an what an outing? What
an easy easy outing? Naggy through like what three four pitches?
Speaker 3 (21:42):
So one second baseman gets another second basement out.
Speaker 1 (21:47):
That's crazy and we're going to the bottom of the
second already. Smoltz, he's gotta be sweating, he's got to
be like, we're not having a good game so far.
Two runs in the first innings. Not a good start.
That's not a good look. Smoltzy hall of Famer. Another
one he probably, I mean, I say he's sweating, but
he's John Schmoltz, John Smoltz, He's he's one of the greatest.
(22:09):
By the way.
Speaker 3 (22:10):
With Toronto and and La, can you name players that
have played for both? I can name it. I've got
three off the top of my head, Toronto and La. Yeah,
without no what you got to do with without that? Yeah,
just off the top of your head, I can name
at least.
Speaker 1 (22:22):
Three Toronto and La. I don't know if I can
name any off the top of my head.
Speaker 3 (22:26):
Two of them with a couple of them are already
playing that are still on the team that I was
saying that I have played for both.
Speaker 1 (22:33):
Yeah, I'm trying to think, yeah, that have played for
both already.
Speaker 3 (22:37):
Yeah, one's going to the Hall of Fame. He pitches, Wait,
oh what uh oh?
Speaker 1 (22:47):
Max? Max? Sure, I still can't say because I because
I was I was taught to say scourger, and I
know that's not correct, correct, and I can't so like
in my brain, I always want to say that night.
It's hard for me.
Speaker 3 (23:01):
Not Hall of Famer pitching to another Hall of Famer.
You've got John Smoltz pitching to Jim Tomy.
Speaker 1 (23:05):
What a matchup? Yeah, yep, give me some more.
Speaker 3 (23:08):
Played the Oscar Harder Endez played for Toronto, now plays
for LA.
Speaker 1 (23:13):
He played for Toronto, he did yep, okay? And then
what's your third one?
Speaker 3 (23:17):
Russ Martin. Russ Martin, he used to do well, he
doesn't play anymore. He was the catcher. He played for
LA and he played for Toronto.
Speaker 1 (23:24):
Yeah, okay, I don't know if I can name anymore.
I can't think of it because, like, I'm trying to
think of players that play right now, but I'm also
trying to think like in the past. Yeah, that's why
I want to. Ricky Henderson, he played for the Dodgers
in the Blue Jays.
Speaker 3 (23:38):
He ended his career with LA.
Speaker 1 (23:40):
When did he play for Toronto?
Speaker 3 (23:42):
Ninety three? He won a World Series? Four of them?
Speaker 1 (23:45):
Really? Yeah? Was that the Joe Carter? Yeah, Ricky Henderson
was on that team. Yeah? What yep?
Speaker 3 (23:52):
Toronto rather the A's traded him.
Speaker 1 (23:56):
Two time World Series champ. What I did not know
that he only played for Toronto for one year. Yeah,
that's crazy. I honestly thought he played for Oakland like
his whole career. I didn't even know for a bunch
of teams.
Speaker 3 (24:12):
I didn't the Angels when they were the Adaha, my Angels,
that's my Tim McCarver. He played for the Socks and
O two. What you didn't know this?
Speaker 1 (24:23):
No? What? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (24:24):
He played for the Yeah, he played for the Padres,
he played for the Mariners. He played for the Yankees.
He started with the Yankees.
Speaker 1 (24:32):
What yeah, Ricky Anderson, we're talking about the same guy. What. Yep,
that's crazy. I didn't know that. Yeah. I'm looking up
players that played for both la Arsenal and Tottenham. No,
that's not what I Tottenham, Tottenham. Uh played for Dodgers.
(24:54):
Hit me with them out. Hit me with the Dodgers,
the Dodgers and the Blue Jays. Yep, Smoltz struck out.
Tell me look at this pitch looking strike? Yeah, as
(25:19):
my as my one of my favorites, would say, Dennis Eckersley.
Pair of shoes backwards, K, that's a pair of shoes.
Manny Ramirez at the dish. Manny needs to be Manny
right now.
Speaker 3 (25:36):
Transfers two thousand and seven self to nineteen ninety five.
Speaker 1 (25:40):
So here are some of the top players. I should
have thought of this one Justin Turner, Yes, is An't
he playing for the Blue Jays currently?
Speaker 3 (25:48):
No, I think he was playing for the Mariners.
Speaker 1 (25:50):
Was it the Mariners? And he wasn't really playing much.
He didn't make a big impact this year, but he
did one season for the Blue Jays. The crime to
Fred McGriff, he's another one. He is. He ended his
career with L A is.
Speaker 3 (26:07):
I believe he ended the same year as I'm pretty
sure he ended the same year as as Ricky Henderson
with LA.
Speaker 1 (26:14):
Really yeah, So the top players when I when I
looked this up, this is per Baseball Reference to credible source.
Ricky Henderson's the number one player they list. Then Max
sure it should be s U R Sure. I'm gonna
just turn the C sideways into a U and just
(26:37):
pretend that it's a U. Max Sureser, I'm sure about it, correct,
Justin Turner, Fred McGriff, Devon White or Devino Devon White.
Two seasons with the Dodgers, five with the Blue Jays.
Speaker 3 (26:50):
He won a World Series with the JS.
Speaker 1 (26:51):
And it says there are eighty eight batters or eighty
eight players that batted for each of these franchise. I'm
gonna try and look at the couple. Yeah, apparently Calvin
Bigio played for both the Dodgers playing. I didn't know
he was on LA this year. Yeah, because obviously he
started with the Blue Jays Blue he was a part
of that fisher Cat team. And what like year did
(27:12):
they win? It was eighteen? I believe it was an eighteen.
I wanted to say that the incredible fisher Cats team
they had, you know a lot of these players of
the fisher Cats team. I don't know it was.
Speaker 3 (27:25):
John Schneider, who's the who's the manager of the Blue Jays.
Speaker 1 (27:28):
Really? Yeah, so he's been with uh, you know, the organization,
and not only the organization walked. Don't get I know,
picked off. You already know they're going to be the
bass coaches like, don't even take a lead, just hug
the bass. I'd rather you get thrown out in a
(27:49):
double play than look at that bud light log.
Speaker 3 (27:53):
Dilly Dilly pre Deli Deli. I think it was Dali
Deli at the time, Deli Dilly Deli. There's at Leo
Mazzoni here he is. You'd always rock back and forth
nervous about his pitching. How can you be nervous with Maddox,
Glafft and Smoltz.
Speaker 1 (28:09):
I know a rotation like that? Yeah, and like the
rotation is the most Like your pitching is so important.
There's cheese. Paul Sorrento is a he's oh for two
in the World Series so far, played a lot. He's
do That's all that means. When I see when I
see low numbers, it just means you do you do? Okay?
Or don't? Yeah? Exactly?
Speaker 3 (28:29):
Don't get picked off?
Speaker 1 (28:31):
Oh? One of one of our favorites played for both teams.
You ready for this one? Jeff can't?
Speaker 3 (28:35):
Jeff Kent did play for Yeah.
Speaker 1 (28:37):
He uh eight or five to eight for l A
and then ninety You're.
Speaker 3 (28:42):
Gonna show it, aren't they? They're gonna show it, aren't they?
Speaker 1 (28:49):
What a? It was a perfect throw? But if your manny,
how are you not seeing the catcher looking at you?
I just I just saw it, just now? How are
you not wh that?
Speaker 3 (29:00):
Like?
Speaker 1 (29:00):
That was the worst athletic moment I've seen in a
long time. On the playback, any other pictures that played
for both I'm looking through all these names from the
Griff Kevin Pillar. Yeah, David Price, Yes, twenty twenty one, two,
and then twenty fifteen, twenty fifteen for Toronto. Yeah, because
(29:22):
didn't Is it correct me if I'm wrong? Did David
Price play for all al these teams? Not the not
the Orioles? Right? He didn't play for the Yankees. He
didn't play for the Yankees either. I know he played
for the Rays, but I couldn't remember.
Speaker 3 (29:33):
Raise socks in Toronto. Oh, he almost got picked off age.
Speaker 1 (29:38):
I'm gonna mess up this name.
Speaker 3 (29:39):
He almost got picked off.
Speaker 1 (29:40):
I know hyun jin Ryu? Is that it?
Speaker 3 (29:44):
It's a I know, I know what you're talking about.
Speaker 1 (29:46):
Yeah, okay, a smaller name, but you know, I believe
he played for a couple played for the Dodgers from
thirteen to nineteen and Blue Jays from twenty twenty to
twenty twenty three. Strike three out for the cheese outside, Gee,
strikes out.
Speaker 3 (30:01):
She's whiffed.
Speaker 1 (30:02):
Yeah, let me look through some more names. Were almost
at the bottom here. It's alphabetical. Oh, pitching. I don't
recognize a lot of these batters at the end of
the name. So we're gonna We're gonna move to the
pitching trying to find some big names here that we
would Jesse Chavez sixteen, he was traded from Toronto to
(30:26):
l A.
Speaker 3 (30:26):
Yeah, I remember Jesse Chavez with the fisher Cats. Sandy
Alomar Junior at the dish. As we you know, Sandy
Alomar Senior recently passed away, so the father of both
Robbie and Sandy Junior. Sandy played for the Angels. He
played for some other teams as well.
Speaker 1 (30:46):
Oh, by the way, David Price was listed under batters,
so I'm assuming he had to take an at bat, right,
But it says that means he had to take an
at bat for both the Blue Jays and the Dodgers.
So I'm wondering when did he taken that bat for
the Blue Jays? Was it? It must have been an
away game right for National League Parks. Yeah, jin Reyu
(31:12):
was actually a pitcher. Yeah, that's what I thought. Yeah,
he's listening to the pictures Rock Stewart, Ross Strippling, Ross Strippling. Yes,
it's a big one. Ripling was like a reliever for LA. Yeah,
I mean the sureser is the name we've already mentioned.
I mean, some of these names are they're they're smaller names,
(31:33):
Daniel Hudson.
Speaker 3 (31:34):
Danny Boy. Yeah, I remember Danny Hudson.
Speaker 1 (31:37):
He twenty eighteen to twenty twenty four played for the Dodgers,
but in twenty nineteen played for the Blue jas It
must have been traded mid season or something yet. And
that's really it. A lot of these names. Like I said,
I'm trying to look for people that have played a
lot of games for at least one of these teams.
Jim got name ring a Bell. Nineteen ninety to ninety
(31:58):
four he played for the Dodgers, and then from eight
to eighty four he played for the Blue Jays two
hundred and seventy two games as a.
Speaker 3 (32:04):
Truck them out, struck out the side with a walk
mixed in so Smaltz after two, trailing two.
Speaker 1 (32:13):
One Belliard Grissom, and then I couldn't see Louis Polonia, Polonia.
I don't think they have those anymore. This is a
cool cool like this is that's a good ticket right there.
I wonder how much that probably costs for this World
Series game. Dick ever saw next to buds ceiling. By
the way, that's cool. Yep, yeah, it's gonna say that.
(32:36):
Hat's cool. The jacket's even cooler though, the bomber jacket
with like this NVC. Yeah, that's cool. Dude just pulled
up us to where'd that phone come from? Dude's got
a landline at his seat.
Speaker 3 (32:50):
It's bud ceiling. That's that's the.
Speaker 1 (32:52):
That's the commission right, not not not entire yet he's
the interim commissioner until nineteen ninety eight. Raffe Belliard at
the dish. Oh for six all glove, no batter. Yeah.
(33:18):
I think every team needs that kind of player. I
think you need like a solid outfielder. Like there's some
some positions that you need fielding over batting sometimes hitting, Yeah,
fielding over hitting, yeah. I mean, but the nice thing
is when you can find a combo at those positions.
Like I consider, what would you consider the most important
(33:39):
defensive position? Take out, takeaway catcher? Yeah, like what would
you can say? You think? So? Yeah? Maybe third base. See.
I like to think you need a defensive outfielder, like
center fielder. I want like a you.
Speaker 3 (33:52):
Want a Jimmy Edmonds who can't cover the ground, yeah.
Speaker 1 (33:55):
Or I mean even Kenny Kenny. I mean, yeah, Kenny's fast.
I want someone. I my favorite defensive player of all
time is Jackie Bradley Junior. I have a big jbj
F I in my personal opinion. I know that this
is gonna catch a lot of heat from the playbackers,
but Jackie Bradley Junior is the greatest, greatest defensive player
(34:15):
I've ever seen with my eyes, Like there's there's better,
there's probably better defensive players him, but seeing him live
and just witnessing it, Jackie Bradley Junior is such a
great defensive player and not known for his batman Murkis
Grissom at the dish strike. What is uh? You have
(34:37):
a favorite like defensive Cleveland player throughout your lifetime watching
watching the Guardians and stuff like that. You ever someone
that you knew wasn't that great at batting, but you'd
still appreciate you wanted them on the team all field,
no hit. Yeah, really, I mean you know, I mean
Cleveland's had like a pretty balanced team. Yeah, since i've
you know, watched them.
Speaker 3 (34:57):
But I guess Sandy because there were times where Sandy's
batting average was not not the greatest.
Speaker 1 (35:02):
But you never wanted to get rid of him right right.
Speaker 3 (35:04):
Struck him out.
Speaker 1 (35:06):
Nice crowd's going, Yeah, having that energy is definitely gonna help.
They've been missing that for the first two games for sure. Yeah,
being stuck in Atlanta and getting you know, having close
games and and things like the Ramirez many many getting
picked off. Like I feel like that doesn't happen here,
(35:26):
you know, right.
Speaker 3 (35:28):
You saw out there in the outfield Sherwin Williams I did. Yeah,
the corporate Sherwin Williams building just got built. It is
tall in Cleveland. You cannot miss.
Speaker 1 (35:37):
It like today, like not like today today, but like yeah,
like that.
Speaker 3 (35:42):
Year miss it and it's again it's got it looks
at one, two, three inning by the.
Speaker 1 (35:46):
I was gonna say, is Naggie thrown? Like what ten
pitches this game? What is going on? Yeah, braves are pressing. Yeah,
they're they're trying to be aggressive, but it's not really working.
I will say though, Smolts last inning, he look incredible.
I mean he walked one but struck out. The sound
is your favorite. I know you want to go on
the we need to do We need to do the
(36:06):
playback from inside a blimp. We need a we need
a blend playback.
Speaker 3 (36:10):
It will be our last edition of the play.
Speaker 1 (36:11):
I know the Hinden playback is is inbound.
Speaker 3 (36:17):
The the Sherwin Williams building is it's clear glass, so
it's essentially you know like you see in skyscrapers where
they have that kind of mirror looking kind of well, yeah,
they're still building like the parking lot when I was there.
Speaker 1 (36:32):
Maybe that'll be done when I get What is your
favorite thing to do? Like, you're leaving a game, right,
break it down for us right now, you're well, often
at the dish, you're at a Cleveland game, game gets over,
Guardians win, yep, what's the first thing you.
Speaker 3 (36:46):
Do going to Constantino's baby, Constantino's Market? Where's that? How
far of a walk? Or that is probably a wow?
If you're leaving the if you're leaving Progressive Field, that's
probably a fifth minute walk.
Speaker 1 (37:01):
It's not that bad though after a night like and
I say after a win, because you probably do something
different after a loss, if you know, the town's probably
not as hyper after a loss. And that's a base hit.
That's more than a base hit for Kenny lofton three,
no stand up?
Speaker 3 (37:16):
Okay, well I think he thought that it might have
been caught.
Speaker 1 (37:20):
I don't want to say anything, but halfway to the cycle. Yeah,
might have just jinxed it, but we'll see. But so
you were saying Constantinos, Is that what it's called? Yeah,
so what's what's that constant supermarket? Supermarket? I see when
you said market, I was I was picturing, like, what's
(37:40):
it called in Boston? The Boston Market? No, not Boston Market,
the shops, the strip. Why can't I Oh my god,
New Englanders are screaming at me through the through their
headsets right now.
Speaker 3 (37:52):
Or their phones, yeah, or their PC or other listening diseases.
Speaker 1 (37:56):
I'm thinking of market. Yeah, yeah, that's what I'm thinking about.
I couldn't think of the name for a second. I
would see when you said market, that's what I was picturing.
What a bunch? Beautiful, that's funny. The scale two for two,
(38:17):
Kenny two for two? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (38:19):
Or did he walk one for one?
Speaker 1 (38:22):
No? No, he got a single, right, did he? I
don't remember did he walk? Maybe he's not halfway through
the cycle. I can't remember. Now we'll have to update
you when when Kenny uh comes back up to bat.
Either way, I mean, they didn't know what a bunch.
(38:42):
They didn't think he was gonna bunch. What a bunt?
Chipper's got a hand too, like he's got an arm.
This is funny that that's some Javier Baiez type.
Speaker 3 (38:56):
Move now one no other, uh Carlos one, if by
c two, if by treasure three off by swings and
missus a huge hat. He wanted, he wanted to h
wanted he wanted to hit that one to Mentor, Ohio.
He was, I've been to Mentor, Ohio?
Speaker 1 (39:13):
Really? Yes? What is your is? Is Cleveland your favorite
city in Ohio? Like? How much have you explored that? Not? Really? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (39:20):
Yeah, I've been to Cincinnati. That's on the other be Akron,
I have not.
Speaker 1 (39:25):
I have not been, so you should you should? Uh?
We gotta. We gotta try and get the playback and
bet this out to a like a Zips football game
or something. We gotta respond that. Yeah, get get a
get someone to give us an update on how the
Zips are doing. That's a great name, isn't it? Yeah?
The Akron Zips. What's the other the other school they
(39:46):
got up there? Not Akron, But there's another one.
Speaker 3 (39:48):
Not Cleveland State, No.
Speaker 1 (39:50):
Not not? Is it Toledo Toledo? Is that Ohio? Toledo's Ohio? Yeah? Absolutely,
Yeah them and them and the Zips are two of
the lower range making schools.
Speaker 3 (40:01):
Didn't Who went to Toledo? No, I went to Kent State.
I think it was uh, yes, it wasn't.
Speaker 1 (40:09):
It wasn't Toledo that I was thinking of, though, it
was Kent State. Kent State was the other.
Speaker 3 (40:13):
Sking Ben Roethlisberger went to Toledo. Really, I think, so
what is uh from Findlay, Ohio?
Speaker 1 (40:18):
Originally? Where's Kent State? Is there a Kent Ohio? Yes, Okay,
I was gonna say, I have no clue. Oh, that's
that's a hit. That's ah, that might be two? No, No,
the quel stops at second. I thought I heard Bob
Costas say one if by land to I thought I
(40:40):
heard him say for a second because I heard him
say by erga, wow smalltz. I don't think he hasn't
out yet decending right, wasn't didn't? Did Kenny lead off fifth?
That wasn't? I mean it was a hit anyways, he wasn't.
(41:01):
He couldn't. The only thing I can think of is
maybe he was trying to like Scoop Scoop and throw
out Kenny. Yeah, Like maybe he was trying to like
Scoop and do do one big motion like throwing it.
It didn't work either way. Nope, I mean I would
have just hated you're not thrown out, Kenny Lofton, I
(41:21):
don't care who you are. William A.
Speaker 3 (41:23):
Zoni's already out on the mountain too, essentially, Calm down, John.
Speaker 1 (41:27):
Smoltz, that's crazy. But you can't expect them to be
perfect every day. You know, the brave three one Cleveland leading,
no outs in the bottom of the third. Yeah, have
an ending right, Yeah, strike take the take a day off,
(41:50):
John Smoltz, get out of here.
Speaker 3 (41:53):
If Albert Bell crushes this one towards Shardon, then yes.
Speaker 1 (41:59):
They got it. Yeah, they need to score some runs here.
Thirty one runs between August and September or yeah, thirty
one home runs, two home runs in the postseason. That's it.
The long ball has been missing from Cleveland's game, well.
Speaker 3 (42:13):
For Bell, Yeah, that's that's that's the guy.
Speaker 1 (42:17):
Yeah. You know.
Speaker 3 (42:21):
Kent Murker in the bullpen, an actual bullpen, not on
the side.
Speaker 1 (42:25):
Of the the field. So you got any information on this?
What was his name, Ken Murker? Yeah, Kent Murker, Kent Murker,
Yeah is he Yeah?
Speaker 3 (42:41):
Yeah, I've seen that bullpen by the way, in Cleveland,
have you the visitors, Oh, I've yeah, haven't. I haven't
said you know, haven't. I haven't said anything one way
or there. I haven't, haven't.
Speaker 1 (42:52):
You know, you know you haven't. Zach hampelled yourself progressive.
Speaker 3 (42:56):
Yet he doesn't do that, Zach Zach Campbell doesn't call
people out.
Speaker 1 (43:00):
He just you know, elbows kids for Baseball's correct. Albert
used the force. That's funny, guy, were a Darth Vader
helmet two of them? There was two out, not Darth Raider.
No ye, Cleveland's Vader Vader time. Yeah, good camera work.
(43:24):
And I know base hit right up the gut, no outs,
and that's gonna drive home another run. There's no oh,
and he doesn't even get the ball. They're gonna hold
him at first and second. Still, but another run comes
across no outs. I mean you can turn two here
and still move a runner to third. Yeah, you know,
like you could. You could roll a double in still
(43:47):
ninety nine. Bat Boy, I need one of them jerseys.
We got to get you a bat boy jersey. J
D bat Boy. My name's not bat boy. The still
as you can say, as as I've said.
Speaker 3 (43:57):
The silhouette logo was not on the back of the
uniform until I think two thousand, so the major league
logo was I mean doing that necessar early nineties. But oh,
Grisom was not.
Speaker 1 (44:07):
Back to back blunders for this. This braves outfield, not
necessarily errors. But he has a better shot at throwing
out uh what is it viscale. Yeah, he had a
better shot of throwing him out than Kenny Lofton.
Speaker 3 (44:20):
But I've been in one of those dugouts, by the way.
Speaker 1 (44:22):
Really the tour really? Ye see, that's something I've never
gotten to do. I've been inside of like, you know,
Madison Square Garden for a concert. Yeah, you've never taken
like the tour. No. My buddy who's a Yankees fan. Yeah,
for to.
Speaker 3 (44:36):
One Cleveland leading bottom of the third, no outs, two runners.
Speaker 1 (44:40):
On my two to one. I mentioned Eddy at the dish.
My one best man, Brandon. Yeah, I had two best
men at my wedding. My other best man, Casey, who
I've talked about on the playback before. He's a Yankees fan.
He got to go to that last series against Yankees
Red Sox in New York, the last one they had
at Old Yanche Stadium. He was at that like one
(45:02):
of he got to go to one of the games
to the series. He's wearing his hat and he's also
wearing the helmet on the hat.
Speaker 3 (45:07):
That's funny. You usually just see the helmet, not the hat.
Speaker 1 (45:11):
The casey. While he was in New York, he got
to tour Madison Square Garden and he like showed me
pictures and told me all about.
Speaker 3 (45:18):
So John Mayer over here he was playing Steady Eddie whiffs.
Speaker 1 (45:24):
Yeah, one down.
Speaker 3 (45:27):
No batting gloves for Steady Eddie.
Speaker 1 (45:29):
By the way, I would have to wear batting gloves. See,
I wore batting gloves but had to take him off
when I ran, Like, it's weird to run with gloves on.
I don't know if if you feel the same way.
Where did you wear gloves when you batted? Yeah? Yeah,
I had to. Yeah it's weird. It's like, yeah, let
me grab a uh I don't even known. Yeah, it's weird.
(45:54):
I don't want that, like stinging feeling in your hands
the gloves, like take it away a little. Yeah, not
much though. No.
Speaker 3 (46:01):
Jim told me at the plate, Oh, this could get
it's already out of control. This could really get out
of control in a hurry.
Speaker 1 (46:09):
Yeah, and Cleveland's probably gonna go ballistic if he can
get something here. One for seven? Is this against Naggie
and then for one or against Malts excuse me? Oh
for one tonight? Yeah, yes, but it's one for seven
in his world in the World Series, so that's not
(46:29):
that wasn't against Smoltz. It was just in the World Series.
Still bottom three, one out, four to one. Something different.
Speaker 3 (46:45):
Finally, luck happening for Cleveland and not Atlanta.
Speaker 1 (46:54):
Six hits, three innings. It's crazy. If you're a pitcher,
you know, two strikeouts it's an inning is a good amount. Yeah.
Getting two hits an inning is a good amount. Mm hmm.
Adding three runs on top of your two hits.
Speaker 3 (47:11):
Yeah, Jim told me you should have saw him. Man
with your home runs, Oh sweet, when he hit those homers.
Speaker 1 (47:22):
I've seen highlights and stuff. Obviously when you're there, yeah,
I imagine. Yeah, who was your favorite player during this
ninety five? Was it? Was it?
Speaker 3 (47:35):
Tomy Bell, Kenny Bell and Kenny.
Speaker 1 (47:39):
I mean, the leadoff guy is always fun to watch.
He was just Kenny Lofton is.
Speaker 3 (47:44):
Just out of the box. Immediately knew it was a
box office for him.
Speaker 1 (47:49):
So what was he Is he trying to think of
right now off the top I had, I can't remember.
Is he right? That righty? That lefty? Lefty? He lefties
they got an advantage. They break down like if you're
especially if you're a fast lefty, you break out of
the box so quick. That was what was impressive about
Ricky was like, Ricky Henderson was a right handed batter,
(48:11):
and when you're a right handed batter, you you're already
a step behind, essentially the left handers because they start
on the first baseline. You have to cross the batter's
boxes already. But Ricky was so fast it didn't matter.
Kenny Lofton almost Ricky's clone. Like if I think of
some of the fastest players in baseball history or some
of the best Steelers, you wouldn't think Ricky Henderson was
(48:34):
that fast, but he would get good jumps right the best.
That's why I corrected myself, not necessarily the fastest, but
best at stealing a bag. Ricky Henderson and Kenny Loftner
like the first team names to come to head. Yeah,
lou Brock's way before my time, I got to to
I mean Ricky's before my time too.
Speaker 3 (48:50):
Really but the Prime Ricky, I think about it. He
played a long time.
Speaker 1 (48:55):
I know, but Prime Ricky was before my time. I
didn't really see him. Is he gonna load them? But
I mean Kenny Lofton I got to watch for a
little bit and he's fun to watch. I love players
that can steal a bag like that. And stealing is
different nowadays. I mean with bigger bases, bigger bases, but
(49:18):
even then it's like there's not as many, right, Like,
no one's attempting to steal, and if they are, a
lot of the time you'll see like I I remember
a couple of years ago. I forget the kid's name,
but it was like some kid named Ruiz for Oakland,
Uri Ruiz or something. So bases are loaded for Cleveland,
(49:38):
one down right, just one, yeah, out.
Speaker 3 (49:41):
Back when they were Oakland folks. Yes, Smoltzy coming out to.
Speaker 1 (49:45):
Take them out. Yeah, in the third they're pulling Smoltz
in the third. It's the World Series. I mean, there
is no tomorrow. That's the way every game has.
Speaker 3 (49:56):
To be played, even though you've got two games to none, right.
Speaker 1 (49:59):
Right, right, right, I mean there is technically still tomorrow.
You have one more game. You have to play but
like managers probably thinking we got to win tonight. Smoltz
is out. That's crazy. That is the biggest shock of
this game. That will that will be the biggest shock
for the rest of the game. Ray Charles hit the road.
(50:19):
That's funny. That's funny too, because Ray Charles Georgia's Georgia's
own Ray.
Speaker 3 (50:25):
Charles Municipal Stadium right there.
Speaker 1 (50:30):
That's cool. I love these big Is this gotta be
the blimp shot?
Speaker 2 (50:36):
Right?
Speaker 1 (50:38):
Good year hooking us up for this key tower terminal tower.
And now how about that? Huh that's cool? Mm so
is the camera operator in the blimp? Probably? You know? Yes?
I mean back then for sure too. Yeah, yeah, I
(50:58):
mean nowadays maybe you could do it remotely. But and
whereas good you're located? I don't know, Akron Ohio is it?
I almost said Michigan. That probably would have been Jada.
I take this pen, put the right in your eye. Yeah.
They I don't think they have the diet. Yeah, gosh,
(51:18):
cool though, those are cool seats, w kN WK and
R Is that what the games are broadcast on?
Speaker 3 (51:23):
Well, that was at the time in radio. It was
not anymore.
Speaker 1 (51:26):
W t A M Now I was gonna say, do
you tune in at all? Like you ever try and.
Speaker 3 (51:30):
Talked about this. When you're in the ballpark and the concourses,
you can hear the radio play by play.
Speaker 1 (51:36):
That's cool.
Speaker 3 (51:37):
Yeah, we've talked about that. So yeah, they've that dinner
concourse that you saw is now covered up by a
big pennant that says guardians on it now, so which
leads me to believe that they've gotten.
Speaker 1 (51:48):
Rid of it. Gotten rid of it. Yeah, that's cool though.
That would be a cool seat to have you next
time you go to Cleveland. You got to try and
check it out and get like a get that in
your next Cleveland video. Brad Klants, not Kent Merker. Brad
Clontz comes in, Oh new reliever, not Kent Murker.
Speaker 3 (52:03):
Okay, Murker was warming up. Yeah, but Brad Klantz now comes.
Speaker 1 (52:06):
In with the paces loaded in, one down, no pressure
and Manny Ramirez at the plate. If someone's gonna if
someone can mash one, it's this guy that was disgusting.
Sidearm pitchers already like side armed submarine pitchers already irritate
me because they're so hard to see the release. But
(52:26):
that breaking ball was gross almost deceitful, right, Yeah, it's
not fair.
Speaker 3 (52:34):
Clontz was eight and one that year.
Speaker 1 (52:35):
Look at look at this not so good that time.
Speaker 3 (52:40):
Sometimes it lands, sometimes it doesn't. Yeah, Clatz eight and
one that year. That's crazy for a reliever. Yeah, love
that rollings glove.
Speaker 1 (52:54):
I love this turtleneck. Man, he's wearing like the red turtleneck. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (52:57):
Old chili, old chili night in late October nineteen ninety
five in the city that rocks.
Speaker 1 (53:01):
Yeah. Also have to remember you're on the banks of
Lake Erie, not this ballpark, but essentially you know, Cleveland
is on the banks of Lake Erie. Yeah, you can
get It's funny because I cold, I big football fan,
and you know, there was a Browns game I think
it was. Maybe it was in Cincinnati, maybe it was
maybe it was a Bengals game. But either way, I
(53:23):
didn't realize I had never put two and two. That
I forgot that Ohio's right next to the Great Lakes. Yes,
and the weather is always crazy and you don't think
about it. You're like, why is the weather so crazy
in the middle of America? What is We're like, Ohio's
the most Midwestern, like not the most Midwestern state.
Speaker 3 (53:42):
Well, if you're on the banks of the lakes pretty
much Midwestern.
Speaker 1 (53:46):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (53:46):
Yeah, so Klawts is bat in a thousand of my book.
Other than playing for the Bravos, he's wearing Nike and
he's got rolling So I think you can go wrong.
Well that a hack can.
Speaker 1 (53:56):
Go Yeah, toss a sea on there for you. That's right. Yeah, Lemke,
they leave him loaded. Manny Man, he's going for the
Garbage pal Kit Award.
Speaker 3 (54:12):
The Garbage Pail. Yeah, Chipper, Crime Dog and Justice coming up.
Speaker 1 (54:17):
I think at the end of this series, when we
finish game six or seven or whatever, whenever the six games,
whenever the series is over, I think we'll have to
pick like worst physical specimen or something like the the.
Speaker 3 (54:32):
The Garbage Paale Award for Garbage Pail Kids. He loves
he loves that movie.
Speaker 1 (54:36):
We've got a we'll give Manny Ramier right now, he's
in line to win the Garbage Pail MVP award wouldn't
be MVP, I know, it would be the LVP Least Valuable.
We'll give out our LVP Award. That's LVP. You heard
it here first on the playback you playbackers. We'll do
LVP and we'll obviously give away like our peak physical
(54:58):
specimen will be our at the end, do like a
series peak physical specimen, like the best of the best
throughout the whole. Okay, just because we don't we don't
do series often. You know, this is the first time
we've really done right.
Speaker 3 (55:08):
Multiple game wants me to do twenty sixteen next year,
and he wants me to do nineteen ninety seven year
after that.
Speaker 1 (55:13):
The sixteen one I'm interested in. That's a good one,
but I'm not. I don't want to keep forcing you
to see negative Cleveland stuff. I want to see Cleveland
do good too. I want to see all.
Speaker 3 (55:21):
Let me over that pen right there. You go, open
one of your eyes right there. You got a fresh
we have fresh uh and hey fresh lamp.
Speaker 1 (55:28):
I was low pumped them. I was low key rooting
for you in sixteen. I mean, I'm a I'm a
Francona guy, you know. Although, yeah, you guys knocked out
the Red Sox, which from twenty sixteen, which irritated me
because that was big Poppies last year it was, and
the whole postseason. I was sitting there thinking, David Ortiz,
he's gonna just like Ray Lewis he's gonna he's gonna
(55:50):
go out on top, go out on top. We're gonna
win it. I feel it in my bones. And then
Cleveland had other words. They were they said, no, who
was the.
Speaker 3 (56:00):
Team they beat to get to the World Series?
Speaker 1 (56:03):
Cleveland? Yeah, give me a minute.
Speaker 3 (56:07):
Okay, there's the crime dog Fred mcgriffe ath the dish?
Speaker 1 (56:11):
Was it another Ale East? It was the Ras?
Speaker 3 (56:13):
It was not the Tampa Bay Rays. They then it
wasn't the Yanks they missed the postseason. It was the
Toronto boy.
Speaker 1 (56:20):
I know it wasn't the Orioles because they were garbage
back then. They were.
Speaker 3 (56:23):
No the Orioles and the Blue Jays played a wild
card game and it was Zach Britton pitching right, and
I forgot that Zach bro That's what it was. He
didn't put Buck Showalter didn't put Zack Britton in the game,
if you remember. And Toronto won that game. Again it
(56:43):
was the wild card. So yeah, so the Orioles probably
were not garbage. Well, I mean they still weren't that good.
I feel like they weren't like the Orioles.
Speaker 1 (56:54):
That we saw what last year or is it two
years ago when they won like over a hundre games.
Speaker 3 (57:01):
The Orioles were good back then because Buck Showalter was
able to kind of you know, well.
Speaker 1 (57:04):
I guess if there's I mean, I don't know. I
think of the twenty tens Orioles as like mediocre, not
the late ones like I think of like the late
twenty tens.
Speaker 3 (57:14):
When they got Buck Showalter, they were the Orioles.
Speaker 1 (57:16):
Like prime time was the nineties when they had like they.
Speaker 3 (57:20):
Only they only made the postseason I think twice in
the nineties.
Speaker 1 (57:23):
I feel like when they had like uh, when they
had col that was probably like their best.
Speaker 3 (57:27):
Well well they were no because they think ninety six
ninety seven, I think that's all they.
Speaker 1 (57:33):
Had really for play like postseason. Yeah, I mean they're honestly,
the Orioles struck them out. The Orioles are similar to
like the Jets in my opinion, or like that's that's
what I think of, like when I think of like
or maybe not the Jets. But yeah, I don't know,
like I think of like crappy organizations. I think the
Orioles are like the bottom of the bottom maybe like
(57:55):
oh of recent years. They haven't always been like that. Again,
I when they had cal you know They've had good
players on their team. They had brook Brooks Robinson our time.
I know what I'm saying. So like the organization overall
is not bet.
Speaker 3 (58:09):
They used to call it when they because they were
winning all the time back.
Speaker 1 (58:11):
In the day. What did they call it, I don't
know what.
Speaker 3 (58:13):
They call it the Oriel way, much like the Cardinal way.
Speaker 1 (58:17):
See in my lifetime, the Cardinals have been a successful
team of course since they since they retired there, they're
like trio that they had. You know that they had
Wayne Wright, they had Yandy and they had pool holes
all go out and it's like after that they've kind
(58:38):
of but.
Speaker 3 (58:40):
They were always known for like doing well in terms
of yes, exacting and scouting, and that has not been
the case as of late. It's kind of weird seeing
it empty seats at Bush Stadium.
Speaker 1 (58:52):
It's weird. Justice at the dish, Justice at the dish?
And Chipper is that Chipper on? Yeah? He walked. Yep,
that's a strike. Good call from the ump HEII.
Speaker 3 (59:08):
You're not going to get that with Robot Ms William's
future Boston Red Sox manager. They Uh, I don't know
the Robottoms. I'm still I'm still on the fence about strike.
Speaker 1 (59:25):
I like the human error. We talked about it last
play back. I'm not going to go into it, but
I like, don't I like human error? I like I
like human air. I don't I like the calls correct.
I like the unpredictability of sports. That's what makes it entertaining.
You don't go to the water cooler on Monday and
be like, did you see that robot? Correct the call?
(59:45):
Like you know what I mean, like not yet, no,
not yet.
Speaker 3 (59:48):
But like give it fifty more years when we get
replaced by robots, is it? Did you see the.
Speaker 1 (59:53):
Call on Monday? Monday morning? You know when you watch,
like you remember the Saints when they were playing the
Rams and the and the title game. Yeah, and the
Rams Tommy, Nope, no they only got one the one.
Uh but the Saints when they played the Rams there
(01:00:16):
was that big pass interference all. I think that, like
like when on Monday morning after that game, right, yeah,
everyone was talking about that and I said, I.
Speaker 3 (01:00:27):
Know I said it, but like he's never gonna get
you are going listen, You're gonna go through a broadcast
about saying that you're not gonna have an eye an
eye you in the eye with this.
Speaker 1 (01:00:40):
Or you know you were talking about it around the
like all your co workers were talking around it around the.
Speaker 3 (01:00:46):
The w I have I have the distinction of having
to go on the radio, right. I don't need the
water cooler. I've got the radio to do that, right.
But it should have never happened. I know Saints should
have played the Patriots in the Super Bowl, so we
would we would not be depraved of Drew Brees versus
Tom Brady with a different outcome.
Speaker 1 (01:01:06):
But we get to talk about that because of that incident,
because of human error, it created that. Oh is that justice? Justice?
Speaker 3 (01:01:21):
On second? Theos Clusco hold on?
Speaker 1 (01:01:28):
Yeah, Javier Lopez dish Man, he's eyeballing him from the outfield.
I got you. I guess if you had to pick
one organization in baseball that is like been bad forever,
(01:01:49):
I know that there's not really one that's been bad forever.
The Mariners are the only team that's really never They've
never been to a World so rest, but I don't
think they're bad. They also had record for most wins
in a single season f and that does it for
the inning for a long time, right, like four to
one going in the bottom bottom of the fourth Sorranto, Sorrento, Alamar,
(01:02:15):
Cheese and Kenny Sandy and Kenny Yah. Yeah, Sandy Cheese
and Kenny. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:02:20):
These seats are going to be all blue before it's
all said and done. Some of them, most of a
good portion of them are blue now they were green
at one time.
Speaker 1 (01:02:29):
Look at this lineup, mad about you, Hope and Gloria,
Brotherly Love and home Court Wednesday, eighth Central, eight eastern.
Speaker 3 (01:02:37):
Seventh Central on n b C. Thanks Peacock. Home court,
not night court, home court.
Speaker 1 (01:02:50):
They're just doing court from home. The home court. I
think that was a I don't remember home court. Cleveland's
got home court advantage right now, home get it? Yeah,
home field, Yeah, I know.
Speaker 3 (01:03:06):
I love that. Right across again, you's just steps right
next to Rocket Arena.
Speaker 1 (01:03:10):
That's cool. So have you ever been to the Rock
and Roll Hall of Fame?
Speaker 3 (01:03:13):
We talked about that before many times.
Speaker 1 (01:03:15):
What's your favorite what's your favorite thing you've seen at
the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?
Speaker 3 (01:03:22):
A tie between the exhibits for the pinball machines they had.
That's cool. Yeah, they like Aerosmith and kiss pinball.
Speaker 1 (01:03:33):
That's cool. I've played the kiss pinball machine like a
thousand times.
Speaker 3 (01:03:37):
Yeah, yeah, Jeene Simmons made sure of that. It's like
track rider.
Speaker 1 (01:03:42):
You have to put that in every single arcade and
or exhibit. Put this in gas stations and walmarts everywhere.
Speaker 3 (01:03:50):
And we'll get a cut. That's our Gene Simmons, folks.
So the pinballs and what else and.
Speaker 1 (01:03:58):
Hmmm.
Speaker 3 (01:04:02):
The current exhibits what I mean by current.
Speaker 1 (01:04:04):
They have current like things going on currently or.
Speaker 3 (01:04:08):
No like current, like Taylor Swift one of her suits,
Harry Styles one of his suits, the case cools. They
do talk modern.
Speaker 1 (01:04:17):
I like that. It's uh, it's almost like how the
NFL puts in like things from the season currently When
Justin Jefferson made that crazy catch a couple of seasons
ago and they took his gloves and put him in there. It's, yes,
that's cool like things that.
Speaker 3 (01:04:31):
Was it was it was either going to be that
or it was going to be his gloves being cut
up and made into tops.
Speaker 1 (01:04:37):
Cards, right, which I still think is cool too, because
I just doesn't have the NFL right now, right yeah,
it's Panini right now, yes, yeah, And.
Speaker 3 (01:04:44):
Because in the NBA and in Major League Baseball it's
it's Tops. Okay, at HL I think you know this one.
Speaker 1 (01:04:53):
I don't know is upper deck? Is it upper deck?
Upper decks still a thing? Yeah? Damn hee w all
elite rest thing has upper deck cards. Okay, what about
is Fleer's done? Right?
Speaker 3 (01:05:05):
Fleer got bought out, so I think they're a part
of one of those. Don Russ got bought out by Tops.
Speaker 1 (01:05:11):
Really, I didn't know that Bowman did Bowman? Okay? Did
Don Russ? Don Russ? Fleer? I remember all these cards?
Is yeah, Fleers the top a big one. Upper deck
is one. I remember that was huge because the logo
was cool back in the nineties. They is. It's still
the same logo that like green and Ora is green
(01:05:33):
and orange green. Yeah. Yeah. It reminds me of like
that retro l A King's look nice throw there. McGriff
on the snag, Lemkey on the toss and one down
for Cleveland? What two down? Right out? Oh yeah? What
(01:05:55):
on a check swing? Right? Yeah? They called him what
do we do in blue? Let me on a checkswig?
Come on in the World Series, I know, let the
let the boys play. Come on, great play yep. Although
it looks like Sandy's jogging.
Speaker 3 (01:06:15):
Well he's a catcher, so yeah, I like those knees.
He did have knee savers, not in this series, but
I think as when the when the years went on.
Speaker 1 (01:06:22):
I want to know a statistic I found out recently,
and I'm gonna butcherate it. This isn't accurate. I don't
have the the uh, the reference in front of me,
but I read somewhere that it was like what was
in like the early two thousands, or not even like
early two thousand, like it like ten years ago or
five years ago or something like that. It was like
(01:06:45):
six percent of catchers were down on one knee. Most
of them were still crouching like old school, old school crouch,
which is what that's how I played when I played catcher,
I crouched behind the bag. But another strike there. But
(01:07:07):
I found out that ninety six percent of catchers in
the MLB now are down on one knee. Almost one
hundred percent of the catchers in the league are on
one knee and not crouching anymore. And they have kneesavers
now too. Oh nice hit two hits for Lofton. Now
(01:07:30):
he's halfway to the cycle. M But they have knees
savers now. But It's crazy to me that ninety six
percent of catchers in the league are on one knee.
And you know why they switched because analytics found that
(01:07:50):
catchers were able to frame the box better. They had
more balance on one knee with like one leg you
know what I'm talking about when they do one knee,
their one knee and then one leg kicked out to
the sidelost right. They found out that catchers are able
to paint the frame better in that position than they
(01:08:11):
are crouching. And so analytics has basically told all these
he's caught. Yeah, they got him, They got him. He
slowed down often is out. I don't know if you
saw that he slowed down he had it. It looked
like as the ball was coming in, he like thought
(01:08:32):
he had it and then slowed down. Look at this,
Yeah he had that. I'm telling you. Look at watch
great jump and it's like right here he like he
slowed down right before he slid. I mean it was
(01:08:55):
incredible throw too. I'm not taking anything away from Lopez,
but Lofton.
Speaker 3 (01:09:00):
Wait a second, he got him on the elbow, but.
Speaker 1 (01:09:13):
It looked like he slowed down. Wow, what a throw.
Lopez going for the uh Peak Physical Specimen Award right now,
picking off everybody? Picked off Kenny Lofton, He picked off
(01:09:37):
Manny Ramirez. He didn't pick it again. That was caught stealing.
Was I don't care if you're on the bags, watch out,
Lopez is coming for you. Yikes. Threw out Kenny Lofton,
caught him stealing, picked off, picked off Manny. I mean, Lopez,
(01:09:58):
have a day. But it is still Cleveland. Naggie out
here finally pitching more than two pitches in an inning.
It feels like he could he could have just gotten
(01:10:20):
it out without even pitching. Nice, there's one down. I
feel like the cheese has got to be the best
nickname this game. That might be my favorite. Sorrento Bob Costas.
(01:10:47):
Given the breakdown, how managing is going to have to change?
Show me some graphics here? Come on, I want to
I want to update on the score. I need to
(01:11:09):
see there we go. Have you been to Canton? Have
we talked about this before?
Speaker 3 (01:11:20):
I believe I've been to the Baseball Hall of Fame,
and that's it. Haven't been to the Hockey Hall of Fame,
which is in Toronto, the International Hockey Hall of Fame.
And despite it being in what we would say my backyard.
I have not been to the Pro or the National
Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Mass. I want to
because I also want to catch a Springfield Thunderbirds hockey game.
(01:11:42):
They're the AHL affiliate of the Saint Louis Blues.
Speaker 1 (01:11:45):
Oh I didn't know that. Yeah, cool, that'd be a
cool trip to catch a game. And the Hall of Fame. Yes,
and spring Springfield's what like three hours from here? Maybe
is it three hours? I think it's like Western mass
That's the only reason why I think it's like longer,
because Wooster is like over two hours from here. In
Boston's like two hours, Like I don't know. Maybe maybe
(01:12:07):
it's a little longer, or maybe it's not as long
as I'm thinking. Oh, and that's an extra base ball
into the dugout and Alamar tried to back up the
ball but a bound Yeah, kicked a stinky cheese rugged. No,
(01:12:34):
I mean nice, that's not really it's good stop from Sorrento,
but yeah, bad throw. I mean he's not getting him
there anyways, I wouldn't. I might have eaten that, eaten
the cheese. Cheese. Where are you going? Actually? Now, I
would have thrown that. That was just a bad throw
looking at that angle as a bad throw because he's
(01:12:57):
he's the pitcher, beats him their naggy baggy. Yeah, but
it's a if the throws off and now you've got
a guy on second and what no outs? One out?
Speaker 3 (01:13:11):
Maybe I think two outs? One or two?
Speaker 1 (01:13:19):
Paulina up polon you Luis Polonia, Jade Dogg. I'm gonna
need you around forever because I mess up everyone's name.
Jade Dodge. Uh oh h m m.
Speaker 3 (01:13:37):
That would be a great prank in the office, wouldn't it.
Speaker 1 (01:13:40):
Why you gotta you gotta get the ketchup packet behind
it to the getting in the spirit a Halloween.
Speaker 3 (01:13:51):
I'm sure you saw that in Black Sheep right, what
it gives the head butt to a kid?
Speaker 1 (01:13:55):
Oh, my nose so much blood. It's broken to ketchup packet.
Oh you broke my nose so much blood. I'm sorry.
I'm Kids used to mess around when I was in
school and like take the ketchup packets and twist them, yeah,
because they obviously build up, yeah pressure they do, and
(01:14:16):
oh boy, they would. Kids would do that. And then
one time in elementary school some kid did that and
he you would punch it. They got him.
Speaker 3 (01:14:28):
Oh how about that?
Speaker 1 (01:14:31):
Huh? Naggy is nagg He's having a game right now
and that ends it four to one.
Speaker 3 (01:14:42):
Going to the bottom of the fifth. Wow, Yeah, what.
Speaker 1 (01:14:46):
Is he doing? KUSA TV Denver.
Speaker 3 (01:14:52):
Thank you to John Quinn on YouTube by the way
for this video here. And maybe John Quinn got the
video feet or maybe he's from the Denver area. Well,
we don't know, yeah, or they just Colorado in general?
Speaker 1 (01:15:09):
What is Denver? Is that? Mountain time? Mountain time, that's right,
it is. That's so weird. Two hours back it's I
mean I get that, Like I get that, like four
hours from east to west. It's just weird to me.
Mountain time, like body clock is just I thought it
was weird, Like it's weird. I always thought there was
(01:15:30):
like one time. Yeah, like it should be Central. Mountain
time is like so small, Like when does mountain time start?
Where does it go from central to mountain time? What
is the Utah? Colorado? Uh?
Speaker 3 (01:15:45):
Not Arizona. Arizona's three bad, No, Arizona's two back. Arizona
also Nevada's three back.
Speaker 1 (01:15:51):
You know, Arizona they don't do daylight saving time out there,
like they just stop doing it all year, they just
don't do it. I heard something recently too. There was
like a guy I heard like a story about this
guy who wrote in to a show that was like,
he doesn't do daylight savings time and he just never
(01:16:14):
has to worry about adjusting his clocks. What's your take
on daylight savings time? It's time to get rid of it,
you think, so, yeah, I kind of like it. It's
frustrating in the spring when you have to you know,
the saying spring forward, yes, an hour. But in the fall,
when you get like an extra hour of sleep, that
day is so nice. When you set the clocks back
(01:16:38):
and you get to sleep an extra hour, it rolls
from one o'clock to two o'clock and goes right back
to one o'clock, You're like, oh, oh, heavens, this is great.
I'm all for sleep. I'm a big I'm a big
sleep kind of person, even though I don't get to
sleep a lot. When I do sleep, I like my sleep.
Speaker 3 (01:16:59):
Home Court was a one season American sitcom that aired
on NBC from September thirtieth, nineteen ninety five. So they're
coming up on it, because this is late September of
ninety five to June of nineteen ninety six, June twenty second.
The show starred a divorced family court judge and mother
of four who juggled her professional and home lives. Who
(01:17:26):
the home Court.
Speaker 1 (01:17:27):
So there you go. Okay, Joe Buck should have read
that intro off that was that was a Joe Buck
esque like that deserves to be in the World Series
graveyard or this TV you know, yeah, it's but it's
like it's in the TV graveyard, I know. But you
always hear the new shows always get released around the
World Series because it's in the fall, and like the
new programs always come out in the fall. So it's
(01:17:49):
like when the World Series rolls around, that's when you
hear those the pilots get described.
Speaker 3 (01:17:55):
Hope and Gloria was an American sitcom that aired on
NBC from nineteen ninety five to nineteen ninety six. It
starred Let's See Cynthia Stevenson. Okay, I know, I know,
since Cynthia Stevenson she almost Let's see, she almost got
killed and mister Monk in the class reunion, her husband
tried to throw her off the like twenty five stories
(01:18:16):
off a building. Oh my god, monk had to see Yeah.
So Alan Thick was in it as well, so.
Speaker 1 (01:18:22):
The Canadian superstar Alan think.
Speaker 3 (01:18:25):
Up moms en Rico Colin Toni as well as one
of his early roles.
Speaker 1 (01:18:29):
Okay.
Speaker 3 (01:18:30):
And also because he was Joe Christie and mister Monk
and the what was hold on mister Monk and the
employee of the month. So and who else was in
that it was, uh, let's see Jessica Lundy as well. Okay, Yeah,
so I actually actually this move this this show was on.
Speaker 1 (01:18:51):
Was it for two years? Two years? Okay? All right?
So if it's two years, that doesn't really count as
the TV graveyard. Yeah, I wouldn't put in the TV graveyard.
You know what we could you know what we could
do We've we've been talking about on the playback, like
some merchandise ideas for the for the playback and for
bet Than we could get a TV graveyard shirt would
(01:19:12):
be great, just have like tombstones with different show names
on them. Ye, Home Court, that'd be great. I need
a TV graveyard shirt like stat that's going to be
TV graveyard Justice for Barbara and the show. By the way, folks,
bring in Justin Timberlake on a shirt that says bringing
(01:19:35):
fallbacks back.
Speaker 3 (01:19:37):
Yeah, don't mention his name again, please, I'm not loving it.
Speaker 1 (01:19:46):
What would you throw? What would be your top? You
have a show that this is a good it's a
good segue, I guess from TV shows. Look at this.
They're putting the bats real quick. Yeah, putting the bats
in front of the heaters. It's that cold in Cleveland.
It warms the bats. Yeah, well they're certainly not doing
that in August, No, England. Do you have a favorite
(01:20:08):
show that got canceled? Like, is there a show that
comes to mind that you were like, Man, I really
like this show or I really like this program and
it got canceled way too early.
Speaker 3 (01:20:18):
M not today, because TV is, you know.
Speaker 1 (01:20:22):
Yeah, like dead. But I'm saying, like from TV's dead. Oh,
he's just TV's dead. Yeah. Well, it's like the streaming years.
It's it's not the Wonder years, folks, it's the streaming years. Yeah,
but there's not one you can think of off the
top of your head.
Speaker 3 (01:20:41):
Garfield I think got canceled. Well, no, I was on
for five years.
Speaker 1 (01:20:44):
I had there's a show.
Speaker 3 (01:20:45):
Although Garfield's still around today from the comic strip, So
you could do you can pretty much essentially do whatever
you could you know want, right.
Speaker 1 (01:20:51):
Yeah, there's a show that came out I think during
like a world World series or like a super Bowl
or thing. You're gonna have to look it up and
double check me on this. It's called Enlisted and it
was supposed to be about like three brothers who enlisted
in the service together and they were enlisted members, not
like officers.
Speaker 3 (01:21:14):
Was it was it a Was it a sitcom?
Speaker 1 (01:21:17):
I believe so? And it was like a Joe Buck
like fourteen. I think it was a Fox show for
whom the Bell tolls. They had a lot of those
hit it here. Al yeah, well they weren't calling him
Taco Bell. Yeah, um first pitchy Oh he does, but
(01:21:38):
it doesn't matter. Oh go into the dugout? No okay, no,
so he gets a board yep.
Speaker 3 (01:21:47):
Enlisted was an American sitcom that premiered on January tenth,
twenty fourteen, on Fox. Fox placed a thirteen episode order
for the single camera comedy in May of two thousand
and thirteen.
Speaker 1 (01:22:01):
How many seasons did it have? Does it say? Yeah? Yeah,
that's one that I it was it was not that good.
But edition that's the one I think of all the
time is Enlisted. Like if I think of a TV
show graveyard, I think of Enlisted all the time because
I was in the Navy when that happened, and like
all the people that I was in the Navy with,
(01:22:22):
like all my friends, we all talked about like, oh,
we got to watch this show. It's gonna be like
our lives. It's gonna be funny. It was not that good,
but I thought it was all right. But I mean
that when I think of like TV graveyard, that's.
Speaker 3 (01:22:36):
What I think starring Parker Young, Jeff Stoltz, Who, Angelique
cabral Who?
Speaker 1 (01:22:48):
Who? What? So?
Speaker 3 (01:22:55):
What is Dickey Mantle's what?
Speaker 1 (01:22:58):
His wife Marilyn? Is that what I believe?
Speaker 3 (01:23:01):
I think Justice's idol was Mickey Mantle. By the way, yep, yeah,
(01:23:26):
because Mantle had died months before this, and.
Speaker 1 (01:23:29):
She's the way she said that she was like what
throwing out the ball? That's crazy. Man. On first rolling
(01:24:07):
through on the ninety five World Series again, shouts out
to John Quinn for the Foottube. It's Game three of
the World Series. Dog, Yeah, Cleveland's got a lead. Yes
they do can they hang on is the question that
kent Murker. It looks like Murker, Yeah, well I believe.
Speaker 3 (01:24:31):
Through a no hitter. Really, I'm pretty sure he did.
Speaker 1 (01:24:35):
You know what's crazy to me, Yeah, it's the first
time in a long time that in twenty twenty five
current year, we didn't have a no hitter this season.
Speaker 3 (01:24:46):
Yeah, that was it was weird, right, Yeah, it was
the first time in a long time that that's happened.
Speaker 1 (01:24:51):
I know. And what's even crazier is we had that
The Dodgers had that game with Yamamoto against the Orioles,
like very late into the season. It looked like he
was gonna do it and then and not only did
he not get the no hitter or the perfect game,
but they lost, like they lost too on that In
that game, the Orioles came back to win. So it's
(01:25:12):
like because a lot of the time you see the
no hitter get broken up and and the pitcher still wins,
the team still wins. It's just like they let up
a hit or like two hits or something. But the
Dodgers not only did they get they they lost out
on the no hit bid, but Yamamoto ended up losing
that game too. Yes, because of that. That's crazy. So
(01:25:33):
so what were was was a Brotherly Love? Right?
Speaker 3 (01:25:36):
That was one of the other shows on NBC, right.
Speaker 1 (01:25:38):
I believe? So, okay, is this the show that's got
No I'm there's a show in a family guy they reference.
I forget that's like two brothers who are cops. But
I think it's like a made up show or something
like this. This isn't it.
Speaker 3 (01:25:57):
That's not this Joey Oh, it's okay, Joey Lawrence whoa
it's his brother Matt Lawrence and Andy. Okay, now, okay.
I remember the show because it was on NBC, but
it got canceled but picked up immediately by the WB
and was on for like two more years.
Speaker 1 (01:26:13):
Really, so, so no graveyard for Brotherly Love, Nope. And also,
I think if we're gonna do five, it is for
to one Cleveland. I think if we're gonna do a
graveyard T shirt or like a TV graveyard shirt, it's
got to be like shows we see on the playback,
Like we can't just come up with them, like Enlisted.
(01:26:33):
I don't know if that one should be on there
because we haven't seen it on the playback. Job that's
funny ball four ball.
Speaker 3 (01:26:45):
Eight and Vaughn's loaded the bases on twelve straight pitches.
Speaker 1 (01:26:55):
That's funny. Yeah, it's a bit Harry Doyle. But I
think yeah, like enlisted the show I brought up. I
don't know if that needs to be in the graveyard,
but we could buck mention it. Yeah he did, but
(01:27:17):
not on that. We haven't seen it on the playback,
is what I'm saying. Oh, okay, Like I learned about
the show in twenty fourteen from yeah in twenty fourteen, okay, gotcha? Okay,
but was he doing an NFL or with baseball? I
can't remember.
Speaker 3 (01:27:32):
Well, if premiered in January of it was probably had
to be football, Okay, all right.
Speaker 1 (01:27:39):
Maybe it was announced in October for the world like
a show coming up. Yeah, I don't know. It might
have been around the Super Bowl too.
Speaker 3 (01:27:48):
I was mad about you. It was a big you
know about that show, right?
Speaker 1 (01:27:52):
Yes?
Speaker 3 (01:27:52):
Yes, yeah, they actually rebooted it a few years ago.
So but the Helen Hunt won an Oscar by the
not for that because you can't win Oscars for TV.
Speaker 1 (01:28:02):
So the TV graveyard, yes, I think it's got to
be shows from here. So would you put unsolved mysteries
on there now because it's not like that for years, right,
that had a great run. I'm trying to think of
some other shows we've home Court, home courts. Home Court's
the definite, like like definitely, that's the baseline. Yes, like
(01:28:23):
if it's if it's as long as Home Court or
as short as Home Court is, I'm going to watch
the TV stars from Home Court, Gary Hogan. We can
also get a WHO t shirt. Well, I think the
Who would have a problem with that. Yeah who Who
(01:28:48):
Naggi out here is still.
Speaker 3 (01:28:53):
So when we watch ABC, I'm sure they'll have programming
that that they'll.
Speaker 1 (01:28:57):
Yeah, which I'm excited about. I want to see some
of the TVs TV graveyards because especially now, like a
lot of the this is ninety five, none of the
shows we're seeing, besides ones that are being remade, none
of them are gonna be on the air probably anymore,
or their their run is about to come to us
yes at this time. Yeah, yeah that was.
Speaker 3 (01:29:17):
Thirty years ago. Yeah yeah, so okay, right down home
Court for the TV graveyard.
Speaker 1 (01:29:28):
Whoo Kenny on his hoards hat drops puts chipper out, all.
Speaker 3 (01:29:33):
Right, TV graveyard man. He gives him the hat back.
And remember, folks, if Joe Buck's calling the world series,
don't let him make sure that your TV show is really.
Speaker 1 (01:29:55):
Don't debuting on. Don't ever let Joe Buck talk about
bet this, keep us out, keep keep my program out
your Monday Friday mouth, Joe Buck uh lofton. By the way,
that's the exact thing I was talking about earlier with
(01:30:16):
Jackie Bradley Junior and covering the ground. Having a center
fielder like that is huge because I don't think by
Erga was getting back to that.
Speaker 3 (01:30:26):
Well, he's got the bump foot too.
Speaker 1 (01:30:28):
Exactly, so it's like, I don't, I don't think he's
getting back to that. And Manny's Manny's ain't got that
speed even a good track on it, even young Manny.
You know, man he's probably not paying attention either. No, exactly,
exactly exactly nice snag. Yep, that's crushed. Yep hmm. McGriff
(01:30:54):
the Crime Dog second home run of the series and
the first real mistake from Naggy. I didn't. I mean,
he's given up a run, but even then I thought
he's I've thought Naggie's been pitching a pretty good game
up until this point that was I knew that was crushed.
That that that had outfield written all over it. Mm hm, oh,
(01:31:21):
you know, like you could see you can see here
when the pitch comes back right on the sweet spot.
I mean it crushed. Yeah. I mean.
Speaker 3 (01:31:31):
He's the only player that I've ever seen that would
take the bet all the way back, all the way
back right with one hand. He wouldn't do the full swing.
That's when you know it's gone. Yeah, he knew it.
Speaker 1 (01:31:42):
Almost like you're holding it there, like you're like, yeah,
basking in it.
Speaker 3 (01:31:47):
When he played for the Padres, he did that. I
think that he really started to come into his own
who played for the Padres with the swing and a
ballpark that wasn't really a home run ballpark either, Qualcomm Stadium.
Speaker 1 (01:31:59):
So fourth postseason home run from McGriff his second of
the World Series. Yeah, two outs, top of the sixth,
still a two run game. Cleveland's still up four to
two now, but seven hits for the Indians and five
for the Braves makes it a lot more of a
(01:32:19):
tight game that that one hit definitely changed the feeling
of the games in half. Justice grounds out and that's
going to do it for the inning. I didn't even
have to see him catch it. I knew it.
Speaker 3 (01:32:29):
You knew what was gonna happen. Yeah, yeah, okay, all right.
Speaker 1 (01:32:34):
But game is not over. Tell me Ramirez and Sorrento
on the way in the bottom of the sixth The
Mickey Mantle Donor Awareness Foundation, what if it still exists? True?
Let me let me pull it up and see if
I can find I would imagine it would I don't
think something like a lot of the time you wouldn't find.
Speaker 3 (01:32:55):
Like because you know what Mickey Mantle passed away from right,
Uh no, I doliver well liver failed. He couldn't get
a donor for in time to get a liver. So
seven hits for Cleveland each have one error.
Speaker 1 (01:33:12):
Told me, oh, what was I looking up? Mickey mantles.
Speaker 3 (01:33:28):
NBC Wednesday Night Lineup And whenever you see that on
your phone, it's time to get a life.
Speaker 1 (01:33:36):
It's established in ninety five.
Speaker 3 (01:33:38):
Obviously it is Hey, Jim Socket toe may.
Speaker 1 (01:33:41):
Hey, that's a good one. Mickey Mantle Foundation, I think,
is what it's just called now because it's not the
donation thing anymore. Still in business. It's changed its name
(01:34:10):
to the Mickey Mantle Memorial Trust.
Speaker 3 (01:34:13):
Okay, is it located in Oklahoma?
Speaker 1 (01:34:14):
Does say where? Because? Uh commerce? Oklahoma?
Speaker 3 (01:34:18):
Okay, Okay. Kent Murker threw a no hitter in nineteen
ninety four. Yeah, you got it.
Speaker 1 (01:34:29):
Yeah, I mean if he hits that to the out
if he hits it to the corners, maybe, but not
in the outfield.
Speaker 3 (01:34:33):
Pitch to combine no hitter in September of nineteen ninety one.
Yes here we got more sponsors.
Speaker 1 (01:34:38):
Ready. I love what you do for me, Toyota. I
drive a Volkswagon. Now. Boom boom hack of HB. I
bet that thing. I bet Razor bomb would Gillette sensor excel.
(01:34:58):
It's probably not as solid as you've been. You've been
shaven longer than I have, especially recently. I've I haven't
shaved in quite a bit in quite a while. Were
razors better back in the nineties? Has anything changed?
Speaker 3 (01:35:15):
I didn't shave until I was.
Speaker 1 (01:35:19):
Like early twos. Have razors changed enough since you've started shaving?
Speaker 3 (01:35:23):
I think twice in nineteen ninety nine in it, I
don't know what I was shaving.
Speaker 1 (01:35:28):
Is like, I feel like razors haven't changed that much.
But it's like.
Speaker 3 (01:35:33):
The technology for Gillette advanced in the sense of they
were the ones that really were well.
Speaker 1 (01:35:39):
They added like more blades and stuff, I.
Speaker 3 (01:35:41):
Think forward thinking with padding, yeah or yeah, yeah, like
a gel, like a jacking. Yeah, they started doing that
in the nineties.
Speaker 1 (01:35:47):
I didn't.
Speaker 3 (01:35:48):
I didn't again, I just had a regular razor that
I would.
Speaker 1 (01:35:53):
Just like a bic. I think I've told you the
story before. Yeah, those plastic bicks or whatever. Yeah, yeah.
I had one time I was at work when I
was in the Navy, and I used to try and
a bad shipmate or I was a bad sailor at
the time. On the weekends, I would try and get
(01:36:14):
without go without shaving on the last day of work
because if it was like a Sunday, right, I would
work Friday, Saturday, Sunday. On Sunday, I would try to
go without shaving because I'd be like, I have Monday
Tuesday off. If I don't shave Sunday, I get a
little bit of a longer facial hair by Tuesday, so
I can enjoy my facial hair or whatever. Because playbackers,
(01:36:36):
if you don't know, if you haven't seen a photo
of me, ever, I have a huge beard. I love
having facial hair. I love my beard. Yeah, I have
long hair too, so I don't really like to groom
my face and hair that often. So I would try
and go without shaving. And one time I had a
supervisor come down on a Sunday while I armed up
(01:36:58):
in the navy. I've got like a rifle on me.
I'm at work. And he comes up to me and
he goes, he didn't shave today's ship mate. I was like, no, sir,
I or I said yes. Actually, I was like, oh, no, sir,
I'm Greek. It just grows back quick. I shaved this morning.
Speaker 3 (01:37:13):
It's like George Michael. He would have five o'clock shadow
the minute he shaved, right, yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:37:17):
And so I would say that. I said that, and
then my supervisor looked at me and he goes, all right, well,
I don't really care. I'll be back here in an
hour and I expect you to be shaved. I'm like, well,
I'm at work with a rifle. I don't know how
that guy. Am I gonna have to shave with a rifle.
He was like, well, I don't care, that's not my problem.
You should shave before he came to work, is what
(01:37:38):
he told me. Six of the books. So he uh,
he said that and walked away, and I called my
buddy and I had to have him come bring me
a razor because I was like, I need you to
I need you to bring me a razor at work.
I need to shave. I'm gonna get in trouble. Are
(01:38:01):
you kidding me?
Speaker 3 (01:38:03):
He was eighty five years old.
Speaker 1 (01:38:04):
The worst athleticalgeez wow, Ryan Klusko leads off. He just
crushed the getting Aggie out of here, that was a
no doubter. I don't even know if they have anyone
warming up. No, they don't. You can start getting guys
warmed up. The uh what I was saying, By the way,
(01:38:26):
first off, that is the worst athletic moment I've ever
seen in my life. I don't care if he was
seventy five or one hundred and fifty. For a million dollars,
you couldn't get it in there. What are you doing well?
Billionaire Ted and Jane they're in Cleveland. Yeah, they're clapping
because this dude missed. They're like, they're they're clapping it up. No,
they're clapping it up because of Klussco. Billionaire Ted's like
that dude's got no money, and I'm a billionaire. I'm
(01:38:47):
billionaire ted and the Braves are smacking the ball out
the park.
Speaker 3 (01:38:50):
And I got the huckster in the Nacho Man. You
know who the huckster in the Nacho Man?
Speaker 1 (01:38:54):
All Right, I cannot believe. I'm still not over a
jay dog. That man missed so on a million dollar pitch,
don't pick a guy that I can't believe. Like when
Bob Costas said that, I thought they were like he
would have won fifty thousand dollars or something the charity
of his choice. Yeah, ten thousand dollars would have been crazy.
Speaker 3 (01:39:13):
Wait, I guess he could be a cameo on the
new show Home Court on Envys, which will not get
cancel If.
Speaker 1 (01:39:20):
You throw this pitch in here, you get one free
cameo episode on Home Court.
Speaker 3 (01:39:25):
Which won't get canceled. We guarantee it, and it's canceled.
Speaker 1 (01:39:29):
Let's just rework this and go to pay j' show
is canceled.
Speaker 3 (01:39:33):
Go to page eighty two. The show gets canceled. Go
to page ninety five. You win a million dollars.
Speaker 1 (01:39:40):
Two people warming up now for Cleveland, Jim Pool and
Eric Plunk again. That's such if I'm in the battery.
I was about say, if I'm in the batter's box
and Eric plunks on the mount, I'm I'm stepping back.
I'm standing a little back from the batter's box. Yeah,
stand back. Yeah. Is that a nickname or is that
your real name? How'd you get that name? America?
Speaker 3 (01:40:01):
Mrker received the Tony Knnigliero Award in two thousand following
his recover from a cerebral hemorrhage.
Speaker 1 (01:40:07):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (01:40:07):
He pitched no hitter September eleventh, nineteen ninety one against
the San Diego Padres.
Speaker 1 (01:40:13):
A cerebral A cerebral hemorrhage? Is that like a like
a brain believe? Is what I'm taking that as?
Speaker 3 (01:40:21):
That's crazy? So it was a combined effort. It was
Mark Wohle, him, Mark Wohlers, and allehand ndro Pina.
Speaker 1 (01:40:26):
So Eddi Murray has a hit in at least one
World Series in the nineteen seventies, eighties, and nineties. Who
are the two other players that have hits in World Series?
Who have hit World Series home runs in three different decades? Wow?
Two players? Do you know?
Speaker 3 (01:40:40):
I don't. I'm just trying to think.
Speaker 1 (01:40:43):
That's what I'm trying to do not. I was thinking
maybe Mickey though, and this is in ninety five. Yeah,
hit a home run in a World series in three
different decades. Decades. Yeah, I have no clue, Like maybe
Babe Ruth.
Speaker 3 (01:41:04):
No, well, maybe twenties thirties. I don't think he played
in the forties. He played in the tens, that's right.
Speaker 1 (01:41:13):
Yeah, did he play in a World.
Speaker 3 (01:41:15):
Series twenties thirties?
Speaker 1 (01:41:16):
He was traded from Boston and went nineteen oh eight, No,
nineteen eighteen, it was eighteen. Did he play in a
World Series before that? Yeah? So in the tens, the tens,
the twenties, and the thirties. So right now, Ruth is
one of our guesses. Kenny's got it.
Speaker 3 (01:41:38):
Mrcer hit his solo effort, this time second old hitter
against the Los Angeles Dodge Jays at Dodge Jay Stadium
April eighth, nineteen ninety four. To date, this no hitter
is the last to be pitched by an Atlanta Brave. Really, wow,
that's crazy.
Speaker 1 (01:41:58):
There's you learn something every day.
Speaker 3 (01:42:01):
Now he participates in pickleball. That's a choose your own
ending right there. That's page eighty seven.
Speaker 1 (01:42:10):
You know that's crazy. I think the I'm trying to
think of people who have hit home runs in three
decades and in general, like, let alone a world series?
How many players? Probably one of those? Yeah, before the nineties.
(01:42:34):
What about not Reggie not Charlie Hustle, Right, he's not
really a home run hitter anyways, But trying, I don't
think the Reds made the world I'm trying to think
of people that played long did they? Did the Reds
make the World Series in the sixties? They might have
nice stop by Sorrento, Nice play by Naggy to get
(01:42:55):
out of the end clinging onto it. Definitely four to
three lead.
Speaker 3 (01:43:00):
As we head to the stretch, Sandy Alamar Kenny Loft
at an Almard v scale do up.
Speaker 1 (01:43:06):
Sironto great first baseman. I'm gonna give it to him.
I don't know, great, Like he's playing the dive really well.
He's just the arm isn't really there?
Speaker 3 (01:43:16):
Much better? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, that's what you do.
By the way you underhand it to the pitcher, you.
Speaker 1 (01:43:21):
Do not Yeah, why would you ever whip it? That's
like correct, But this is a great dive. Yes he
atoned for the last time. Yeah yeah, And nice play
by Naggie to get there and make sure he's covering athlete. Yeah,
he's having a great game other than that last inning
and the inning before that, he's given up two home
(01:43:42):
runs and back to back innings off of like first pitches,
and then he sawid after.
Speaker 3 (01:43:49):
That bottom seventh.
Speaker 1 (01:43:50):
Now in Cleveland, you do not put Naggie back out
there unless you're looking to lose. Oh, Mike Mordecai, Mike
mortified after he threw it into the dirt there for Oh,
keeps that up. He'll be in the TV graveyard. Yeah,
(01:44:12):
be in the Braves graveyard. See if he can even
make it back to Atlanta after the Braves boneyard. Yeah,
he did. Does a Mizuno. By the way, no errors
in sixty nine games.
Speaker 3 (01:44:33):
Nice go to the Turney, turn the page to page ad. Yeah,
you just jinxed him.
Speaker 1 (01:44:42):
As he gets a line drive right to him.
Speaker 3 (01:44:45):
See right there, all kinds of trees and forestry, right,
those are gone?
Speaker 1 (01:44:49):
Really? What's there now? Is it? Seats? Uh? Seats and
more sponsored type stuff? Yep, it was. The hitters didn't
like it. It was too distracting. Really, I feel like it's
a clean batter's eye.
Speaker 3 (01:45:08):
Some bad again every hitter is different, right, and what
they to what you know, whatever, whatever they have. You know,
like justin Moreno's eye can be different than Joe Mauer's eye.
Speaker 1 (01:45:21):
Yeah. Well it's like I'm just using those as examples. Yeah,
It's like you remember Pedro had like a colored glove
back in the day and Montreal. There's multiple times I
think had like players. I think when it was when
he first started with Boston he had a black glove.
I thought he see, I thought he had a colored
glove one time he had He was.
Speaker 3 (01:45:41):
Later as the no that doubt and like the two
there's a walk for Kenny Lotte, don't let him get
on base, okay, the uh As the years went on,
he had like this kind of reddish kind of brown.
Speaker 1 (01:45:55):
It was like here the web though, Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:45:57):
No, I because I remember his black gloves. So back
in the ninety nine or on that Greg McMichael.
Speaker 1 (01:46:03):
McMichael is a crazy name.
Speaker 3 (01:46:07):
So you know who the Huckster and the Nacho man are, right?
Speaker 1 (01:46:09):
Who the huckster I'm assuming the Huckster's got to be
what the Hulkster? The huckster who?
Speaker 3 (01:46:18):
No, I just said it is the hulk Yes, it's Hogan.
Speaker 1 (01:46:21):
Oh yes, yes, yes.
Speaker 3 (01:46:22):
W w F at the time was parrying commercials with
billionaire t that's what they called them, billionaire ted, and
they called Hulk Hogan the huckster, and they called the
macho man.
Speaker 1 (01:46:37):
Yeah, yeah, nachos. Here, give me some of them microwave cheese. Yeah,
the huckster and the nacho man.
Speaker 3 (01:46:45):
That's how I was able to imitate billionaire tab buy
Now Paul out all.
Speaker 1 (01:46:51):
The stoves can't turn too with a lot of it
was already going yeah, I mean mm hmm. Kenny is
like when I see people that are that fast, it
almost makes me think, like does your brain work faster
(01:47:14):
than mine? Like, how are you able to move your
legs that fast?
Speaker 3 (01:47:17):
Link and you miss it? Didn't even have to dive
or slide, Nope.
Speaker 1 (01:47:27):
Imagine if he just kept running for third, I feel
like he could have had it. If you're napping, he'll
do it. I mean, like, if you're that right, heah,
if the second basement doesn't, if Mark Klimkey doesn't look,
Kenny goes, Kenny goes.
Speaker 3 (01:47:43):
You dare him, He's daring you.
Speaker 1 (01:47:44):
Yes, Yeah. He did the same thing to Chipper earlier
when he was on you know, when he was on
third on third.
Speaker 3 (01:47:49):
Yeah, so Murker and Lopez trying to get on the
same page here because now a base hit could essentially
nearly put this game away here because you'd have a
two run lead. It's four to three, bottom of the seventh,
two down though.
Speaker 1 (01:48:09):
Six hits to seven hits. Yeah, Cleveland's still on top
of that category and looking to do more damage now.
Kenny on second, Carlos by Erga at the dish, who
would leave for the Mets, by the way, and would
never be the same.
Speaker 3 (01:48:28):
You don't know what you got till it's gone. I
guess right now they all go. You know, notice that
they all go to the Mets and then at less
you're Beltran or I'm an Soto, I'm a Red Sox fan.
Speaker 1 (01:48:38):
It's they they're all going to the Dodgers. For us.
It's like every player that played for the Red Sox
is iss gone. I did Catcher eat it? Dude, he
didn't even throw it. He's like no, but yeah, Red Sox.
It's like every player that we've ever had. It feels
like from goes from Boston to the Dodgers and then
(01:48:59):
and when when they're with Boston. They struggle, and then
we send them to the Dodgers, and they just are
what's worse getting traded there or leaving there? For there?
Speaker 3 (01:49:07):
In terms of free agency?
Speaker 1 (01:49:08):
What for Dodgers? Yeah, trading someone there?
Speaker 3 (01:49:12):
I agree, because your agency is free agency. Yeah, they
can do whatever they want.
Speaker 1 (01:49:17):
Yeah, I mean I'm still not happy about it. That's
another run and that's a safe. That is that an error?
Would you count that as an error? You count as
a hit? I probably count that's going to be an error,
you think, so if it was Kenny running, I'd probably
say it's a hit. What are they going to say?
Here we go? It's probably an error because it's Biga
or Bierga and he's not the fast they put that
(01:49:39):
graphic up. Oh yeah, that's right, is it? Here we go?
But he's in the outfield. That's the only reason why
I'm saying, like, maybe they counted as a hit because
he's fielding that ball pretty deep. This is a better
(01:50:00):
shot because you'll be able to tell if he's closer
to well maybe not if they zoom in five to
three now Albert Bell at the dish. They're saying they
(01:50:23):
think Bierga could have been thrown out, So that would
be an error. Right, we're gonna find out. They still
haven't really said they haven't. They haven't called it close
up shot. That was a hit? Was a hit? Okay?
All right, that's what I'm saying. It was in the outfield.
I think if it hits the outfield and you're safe,
(01:50:44):
even if they like kind of make an error. If
he bobbles it because he has in his possession, then
it's an error definitely. But it's like you're.
Speaker 3 (01:50:55):
You essentially get the benefit of the doll. Okay, So
no worry to turn the page ending for the for
Mike Morret on that one.
Speaker 1 (01:51:02):
So what do they think by Erga's stealing throwing it
high in the zone? What are we doing when you
start pitching cookies around the club house? You've lost your mind? Obviously,
(01:51:22):
Costa is like, obviously he's swinging here on three and
oh is he? Every baseball player I've ever seen walked
him has been taught to never swing on a three
zero count. Why would you add, Bobby Cox is coming out,
Murker's done, Yeah, yeah, why would you? Why would you
(01:51:44):
ever swing at a three oho count?
Speaker 3 (01:51:47):
Three zero counts get hit all the time. Now, which
is just ridiculous. I think it's so stupid.
Speaker 1 (01:51:53):
It's literally the one opera like three to one is
the green light. That's what I've always been taught. Three
ones the green light, because he's gonna have like the
pitcher's gonna have to pitch you in the zone or
walk you. Yes, three to oh, you're looking for the walk?
Why are you swinging? Why would you ever swing on
a three oh count? Chicks dig the long ball, least
(01:52:14):
they did back then. Do you remember the last time
or the big three oh count that I think of
that happened in recent years? What was his name? It
was a catcher, It was a I know you know
what I'm talking about too. It was the backup catcher.
He was for the He was a backup for the
White Sox at the time. The starter was Yasmani grand Doll.
(01:52:35):
I can't remember the backups name Schia. No, this was
like recent, like a couple of years ago. Oh, look
at this Buffalo versus Miami back.
Speaker 3 (01:52:45):
When the NFL had had day games because they had
coverage of the AFC on NBC.
Speaker 1 (01:52:51):
Really, yeah, that's weird. I remember I was gonna say,
CBS is the AFC.
Speaker 3 (01:52:57):
Why why because Dick Eversoll didn't like the score bug.
Speaker 1 (01:53:03):
Really, yeah, that's wild.
Speaker 3 (01:53:08):
There's Jim Kelly.
Speaker 1 (01:53:16):
They got the Dolphins players and the Buffalo Bills players. Yes,
because you know why both here in attendance because they're
Ohio guys. Okay, Jim Kelly, superstar, Jim Kelly wearing a
(01:53:42):
World Series hat. I know that's see, this is crazy.
This would never happen nowadays. I feel like, can we
get that trivia answer? By the way, I'm still they'll
get you'll get those are Those are Indians.
Speaker 3 (01:54:09):
Buffalo, Miami, Indy, New England and guess who's last? The Jets,
the New York Football Jets. The more things change, the
more they stayed the same. Is that steady Eddie.
Speaker 1 (01:54:26):
Looks like it had under helmet? Yep? Has he got
gloves on? No, that's funny, Eddie turned around instantly.
Speaker 3 (01:54:44):
What you're talking about, willis Bruce Freming is the homeplate umpire.
Yes see, no no.
Speaker 1 (01:54:52):
Gloves on this cold, cold night.
Speaker 3 (01:54:56):
So if you had warn gloves, he would have played
until like two thousand four more years. Maybe would has
saved his career. He only he only had five hundred
home runs. Three thousand hits.
Speaker 1 (01:55:08):
Yeah, would have saved his career. From what the bench
McMichael on the mound.
Speaker 3 (01:55:23):
He had a little bit of luck the last time
around because many got picked off at first in game two.
Speaker 1 (01:55:29):
Mm hmm, dud. Don't don't do that again. Who's got
the air horn? Yeah, don't do that again. Two run
lead for Cleveland in Game three? Was it Jacob's field?
Speaker 3 (01:55:50):
Yes, at the time, the Jake. But you notice, well
you saw a billionaire Ted and Jane, but we haven't
seen the Jacobs brothers. We have not seen the Jacob.
We have not seen the Jacobs brothers who bought the
team in the eighties.
Speaker 1 (01:56:03):
By the way, I know Billionaire Ted's been all over
the coverage for all three games. It feels like, I.
Speaker 3 (01:56:10):
Love when you call it Bill instead of Ted Turner.
You know exactly who we're talking about. Of course, Yes,
billionaire Ted.
Speaker 1 (01:56:19):
So they made a bond character after him, essentially, No,
they wrung him up.
Speaker 3 (01:56:27):
Yeah, here we go the trivia, Here we go Siege.
It's got to be Babe Ruth, right.
Speaker 1 (01:56:47):
I feel like it. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:56:50):
Joe DiMaggio No thirties, forties fifty Joe DiMaggio and Yogi Bearra,
I almost thirties, forties, fifties, forties, five fifties and sixties.
So not Babe Ruth, but two Yankees legends, the Yankee Clipper,
Joe Themaggio and Hey Boom Boom Yogi.
Speaker 1 (01:57:09):
Bearra almost said Yogi Yogi, and I've I've talked about
it before. Yogi is one of my all time favorite rings. Yeah,
and should have known. I almost said him, but I wouldn't. Shoot.
I wouldn't have guessed DiMaggio. I thought, I thought I.
Speaker 3 (01:57:25):
Said at the beginning, didn't I yeah, I.
Speaker 1 (01:57:27):
Thought Babe was going to be one of them, but
I wasn't. I wasn't. I didn't have Demaggio on the mind.
Speaker 3 (01:57:31):
I guess we had Mantle on the mind, but not
the Maggio.
Speaker 1 (01:57:37):
Come on Cleveland, lead off double for Grissom. Ye?
Speaker 3 (01:57:43):
Where was Grissom the season before this? I don't know
where the Montreal expos.
Speaker 1 (01:57:48):
He came from?
Speaker 3 (01:57:49):
The U Yeah, expose. You have you seen the documentary
yet on Netflix? Who Killed the Montreal Expos? No, I'm
going to very soon.
Speaker 1 (01:57:58):
I'll have to check it out.
Speaker 3 (01:58:00):
It's on Netflix, so and you've probably seen the trailer
for it right now.
Speaker 1 (01:58:02):
I don't know if I have yet. I didn't know.
I didn't hear about it. That Larry Walker's on it,
Pedro's on it. They what about the what is it? Uh?
The Orange? What is his name? Up?
Speaker 3 (01:58:18):
Rusty Stobs not with us anymore, so I'm sure they'll
talk about him. Also, Larry Walker is on there as.
Speaker 1 (01:58:25):
Well, promote my boy. Uh, Tim Rains, Tim Rains.
Speaker 3 (01:58:29):
Rains I think is on there?
Speaker 1 (01:58:30):
What about Uh? Who's the other Andre Dawson Dawson. I
didn't see Dawson on there, but that doesn't mean that
he Again. The trailer that I saw, I had, you know,
exposed legs, not all exposed legends, but for the most part. Yeah,
Felipe Alu, Walker, Walker, Rains, and Andre Dawson three great
mets or not mets. Uh mess exposes what I meant
(01:58:53):
to say. This exposed that Montreal. Yes, we is it
gonna take Naggie out? I'm sorry he's still in there.
We said he shouldn't have started this inning. It's double
barrel action in the bullpen for Cleveland, Juli and Tavares
and guess who, Paul Orville austen Macher. They should have
(01:59:13):
taken Naggi he shouldn't have been in this inning at
all by the time.
Speaker 3 (01:59:17):
By the way, Naggie was a one time pitching coach
for the San Diego Padres, so it was weird seeing
him in other uniforms when his.
Speaker 1 (01:59:24):
Career was over. Yeah, I bet it. What's weird for you? Yeah?
Eighty three pitches. You know what's keeping him in this game.
The reason why he hasn't been pulled yet, yeah, is
because of those early innings where he had like three.
Speaker 3 (01:59:36):
Four pitches because he really there wasn't the braves were
just pressing too much.
Speaker 1 (01:59:42):
This is definitely his last inning. It's gotta be for sure,
because he's he's probably gonna throw at least twenty pitches
in this inning, like somewhere around twenty seventeen pitches.
Speaker 3 (01:59:53):
This is where the analytics now come into play. When
you've seen when when the lineup has seen the pitcher
the third time go round the this is why they
do it. And that could have been close to a bar.
Speaker 1 (02:00:04):
I was about to say, was that a bok No close?
Speaker 3 (02:00:07):
Had he stepped off and that motion, that would have
been a box. That's how close it was, and that
would not have been good nice.
Speaker 1 (02:00:21):
I mean, hey, if Naggie gets out of this inning, yeah,
for sure he's peak physical specimen because he's having a
great game.
Speaker 3 (02:00:29):
After that, because this is what the eighth inning, right Yeah,
after this, you put in hose Masa your closer, you
get eight strong gettings from Naggy.
Speaker 1 (02:00:36):
That's why I'm saying, like I can't believe he's still
in there because of that reason right there. Yep, and
I would just eat it. There's no point in throwing
at home. Now you pull Naggie, yep. Okay. The only
reason he let him even come out here is because
he had such a great like pitch count before Grissom
(02:00:59):
got on. Baby, what do you think he was like
at seventy nine pitches? Yeah, it's like you don't you
feel like you can't pull him at that point because
it's like he's still got a good amount of arm.
But you're watching him give up hits, like he's given
up like three four hits in the past two winnings.
It's like they can't fly. You gotta get him out
of there, and you got bullpen arms. Where's Austin Macher
(02:01:21):
put him in there? Get it? Get an inning out
of Austin Macher.
Speaker 3 (02:01:23):
And then put Jose Mason there. That pulls it out.
Austin Macher's coming in.
Speaker 1 (02:01:37):
Yep, eight hits for the Braves, I mean, no else.
Speaker 3 (02:01:42):
Top of the eighth. It is a five to four
game in Atlanta.
Speaker 1 (02:01:45):
Or they got one on first? Now, yeah, who drove
in that run? Grisom was on second. But who hit
that ball? Do we know that was hold On? Wasn't Lemkey?
Lemkey's in the bottom of the order. Grisom's the top right, Yeah,
I believe so. So who drove him in that was?
Because I think it was I think Chippers up. Now
(02:02:06):
who's before Chipper? I can't remember. It's not Polonia? Is it? No?
Might have been Polonia. Polonia can't hit. That's crazy. That
always blows my mind. I recently I saw Chip Kelly's
house in New Hampshire. I like, drove by it, someone
(02:02:27):
pointed out to me. And he still has a house
in New Hampshire.
Speaker 3 (02:02:31):
Despite being in Oregon, despite being in Philadelphia, in Vegas,
Santa Francisco, in Las Vegas.
Speaker 1 (02:02:37):
And I just it Columbus. It blows my mind sometimes
because I'm like, you have this, like it, what's he
got an apartment in Vegas? Probably you think, like, yeah,
probably a nice apartment, probably can afford.
Speaker 3 (02:02:53):
Really gonna say, there's no really, there aren't really a
lot of economy problems for NFL coaches.
Speaker 1 (02:03:00):
Yeah. Yeah, someone especially like Chip Kelly who's been around,
has been around the block. So yeah, and he's a
what a national champion coming off of the national championship.
So at the Ohio State Universe, I bet he got
a pretty good paycheck from Vegas and had a pretty
decent had a pretty decent paycheck coming from Ohio State too.
(02:03:22):
So is that Polonia? Yeah, I think it is all right,
gets his first hit of the game. I think Polonia
honestly was like it's like his first hit of the series.
Speaker 3 (02:03:38):
He couldn't hit. He was all field, no hit.
Speaker 1 (02:03:40):
He decided showed up at the right time, apparently make
this game interesting. With Chipper Jones in the box.
Speaker 3 (02:03:48):
Austin makers fixated, I'm trying to get Polonia out.
Speaker 1 (02:03:53):
I'm gonna tell you right now. Yeah, if Atlanta wins
this game, yeah, the worst moment, Yeah, besides that seventy
five year old throwing that.
Speaker 3 (02:04:05):
Pitch easy on him, the worst you're still here with
us today. No, he's not a cat in the go ahead.
Speaker 1 (02:04:14):
Worst moment's got to be if the if they lose,
the whole team losing, that's the worst moment blowing this
the show. Yeah, they've been winning since like first and
one and and they've just slow like they haven't done
anything since a.
Speaker 3 (02:04:31):
Run here, run there. Yeah, they they've allowed the Braves
to get back in.
Speaker 1 (02:04:35):
They got an extra run in what like the seventh,
but they've let the Braves. The Braves have scored like
non stop since then. Yeah. That that old guy is
as dead as that cat.
Speaker 3 (02:04:49):
In the uh, the Lisa Lobe video.
Speaker 1 (02:04:52):
Yeah, he's stay I've missed you. There was a cat
in that video. This was in nineteen ninety four. He's
a cemetery.
Speaker 3 (02:04:59):
Now, great, you've got your you're obsessed with these TV
gray TV cemetery, your TV graveyard.
Speaker 1 (02:05:09):
It's the spooky season, I'm trying.
Speaker 3 (02:05:11):
To say, is the damn season.
Speaker 1 (02:05:12):
Yeah, trying to be in the mood, you know, trying
to be festive.
Speaker 3 (02:05:16):
Yeah, he's gotting in Halloween spirit.
Speaker 1 (02:05:17):
Yeah, not spirit of Halloween.
Speaker 3 (02:05:21):
No, they'll run you a cool two hundred bucks or more. Yeah,
no Hallmark movies for you. Well that's not until December anyway.
Speaker 1 (02:05:32):
Are we doing Hallmark rewatchables? No, we're not, and we're
not breaking down that.
Speaker 3 (02:05:37):
No, do that, and I there's not going to be
any more host of the playback anymore, Okay, I will
resign in disgrace.
Speaker 1 (02:05:45):
You know. Uh it's funny. Hallmark's done like some funny
movies recently in the past couple of years. Not like
funny like I've seen them, but they did like a
uh cringe They did like a KFC movie or something.
It was like a love story where like Mario Lopez
played like the Kernel. Did you see that? No? I
think I remember here. Yeah, there was like they did that,
(02:06:06):
and there was like another one they did recently. I
can't remember. That was like based off I think it
was based off of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelsey has
like the Hometown. They're gonna be doing that.
Speaker 3 (02:06:15):
Yeah, yeah, Mario Lopez does not eat KFC.
Speaker 1 (02:06:19):
Look at his bod. He's not not eating that. He's
living the ball. He's living the KFC world. Apparently, well
he's getting pay but he's not. He's getting pizade, Extra Crispy,
Bill's finger licking good money. Yes, he's getting thirty two
(02:06:46):
Secret herb spices and dollars. That one I tried a
little too hard on.
Speaker 3 (02:06:52):
I think you're gonna have the worst moment of kidding.
I'm just kidding, the biggest choke. Well you were for
a little while.
Speaker 1 (02:06:59):
I know. Okay, Yeah, I'm good, Okay, I was.
Speaker 3 (02:07:02):
Is this foreshadowing here?
Speaker 1 (02:07:04):
Hopefully not. I'm pulling for Cleveland. I want I want
a competitive series in Chipper Wahopper Walks.
Speaker 3 (02:07:10):
And they've got runners at what first and second?
Speaker 1 (02:07:12):
Yep, they got who was it? Bolomio Polonia. Yeah. I'm
awful with names. I cannot get names right.
Speaker 3 (02:07:20):
Good thing you're on a PA announcer.
Speaker 1 (02:07:22):
Yeah, I know. It's funny because I'm my low boy.
My last name is Fred McGriff. My last name is
a handful and every year when I was in school,
they couldn't get it right. Never It's just like CJ.
Tasantalus to the office. Please. One time I was playing
football and this announcer announced me and my cousin. He
(02:07:44):
was like CJ and Ryan sad toolfless and I was like,
that's there's no f How are we How are you
messing it up that bad? I know you're just doing
it on purpose.
Speaker 3 (02:07:54):
You should have went after that. You said, not good
numbers against.
Speaker 1 (02:08:03):
Austin one for eleven does have his one hit is
a home run, So I had to bring that up,
didn't you. I was paying attention. I will say the
crime dog he went deep already. He's standing thirty two
feet off the plate. It looks like he's so far
out away And that was like right down the middle.
(02:08:23):
No outs, Yeah, this is they're in the danger zone.
Not Kenny Lofton, but Kenny Loggins. Nice play by Lofton.
It's going to advance the runner. But runners. Oh the
(02:08:44):
guy on first did they get him on second?
Speaker 3 (02:08:49):
Chipper barely got in there.
Speaker 1 (02:08:50):
You never see you never see people tag up from first. Yeah.
Cleveland's manager Mike hart Grove's gonna okay, he was contesting
(02:09:14):
if look at this throw does not have an arm.
So no, he's also back pedaling almost like he's like
he's all the way. Yeah, I can't get any further.
If that doesn't one hop, he's out. Yeah. If he
(02:09:38):
if it doesn't one hop, yeah, if that doesn't want hop,
he can't be any If he's literally like like three
feet closer, I mean, hm hmm, that's tough. Good base running,
heads up base running by Chipper. Yeah, he's definitely saying.
I mean he's off the bag right there.
Speaker 3 (02:09:58):
Yeah, he knew to get back on the bag. So
well you can't challenge it because guess what back then
didn't exist. Yeah, so they by the way the treat
Then when they got rid of the trees, they put
also big flag poles for the logo of the team,
the state of Ohio flag of the American flag as well.
This was many years later, but they got rid of
(02:10:20):
the shrubbery the greenery.
Speaker 1 (02:10:22):
Office Max on the wall there that was there for
years by Airga. No, nope, I'm not even a Cleveland fan,
(02:10:45):
and I'm mad. How do you think I felt? Oh
my gosh, by Erga, Oh, I mean the bare hands
nags nice? But Justice was in time? Yeah, I mean
(02:11:14):
Dave Justice. What is he like six'? Five? Yeah? HUGE
i mean his strides are probably, huge he's, yeah damn,
yeah are you kidding? Me he got and they're gonna
they're Gonna, yeah looks like Hard grove's gonna make another pitching. Change,
yeah well guess what should have done that Before naggie
(02:11:37):
let up three home? Runs m, H i, mean come,
On i'm Frustrated Austin mocker is.
Speaker 3 (02:11:43):
Out, well they were booing justice, anyway because of course
now they're tied at five here on top of the
day with only one out Because coolie And tavares comes.
Speaker 1 (02:11:53):
In, now did they Give vierga an error on? THAT
i think? So. Wow So bierga legs out the, hit,
yeah and they and they call it a hit for,
him and then he just to turn around and commit
an error. Himself, yeah literally.
Speaker 3 (02:12:16):
Doing there's the two, tone and So naggie will not
have a decision.
Speaker 1 (02:12:29):
Now, see being a, pitcher that's so. Frustrating i'm walking
up to the reliever And i'm, like what are you? Doing?
Speaker 3 (02:12:37):
Well if you lose one if you lose a one nothing,
game and like say that you pitched in the.
Speaker 1 (02:12:42):
A i'm going up to every, Battle i'm, like, hey
can we get anything going? HERE i don't think that's
being a good. Teammate you know what's being a good
teammate winning the. Game that's being a good, teammate backing
me up When i'm out, there not that bust in my.
Tail it's not that, Easy Mike, Keyster it's not that.
Speaker 3 (02:13:07):
Easy mm. Hmm it's not that. EASY i think it,
is but it's. Not if they could all, hit they,
would wouldn't? They Two hall of famers chatting it up right,
Now jim told me And Tripper, jones two third, basemen
how about?
Speaker 1 (02:13:25):
That. Huh this is a disgrace for For.
Speaker 3 (02:13:33):
Cleveland, Yeah i'm so. Mad not good managing By Mike,
hargrove not at.
Speaker 1 (02:13:38):
All, honestly he's got to have the worst athletic, moment
even though he's just a. Manager it doesn't. Matter you
gotta you gotta. Be you gotta play the game better than.
That what is? It what is the what is? That
all that isn't? There an OLD nfl thing is like
we play the game to win?
Speaker 3 (02:13:59):
Something you play to win the, game was Her?
Speaker 1 (02:14:01):
Edwards, yes you play to win the. Game it was
the pre we talk. About, yeah, yeah, yeah not the
game practice six ers and Six oh my. Gosh that
is that is truly but not an empty seat, though,
(02:14:23):
NO i mean it's a world.
Speaker 3 (02:14:24):
Series it's, well it's the streak they by the, way
you know what the, Streak, well The Red sox have
since surpassed. It but the streak was four hundred and
fifty five games in a row of sellouts from nineteen
ninety five to two thousand and one In. Cleveland really,
Yeah in, fact they have a retired number four fifty
five the.
Speaker 1 (02:14:43):
Fans i've seen that before AND i never knew what that. Meant,
wow that's. Cool, yep that'd be. Cool. Again we've we
talked about. THIS i don't know if it was the
last playback or we've talked about it in a recent
previous the triple digit number on like a. Jury it'd
be cool to get like A cleveland jersey that said
like four fifty.
Speaker 3 (02:15:03):
FIVE i think someone actually made that as a custom
at one.
Speaker 1 (02:15:06):
Time that's.
Speaker 3 (02:15:07):
Cool didn't have anything on the back in terms of the, fans.
Speaker 1 (02:15:09):
Right but You cleveland fans know what it. Is yes they. Do,
yeah that's. Cool see WHEN i PLAY mlb the, show
you can see that on the. Wall that's WHY i
knew that was. There do you think it's, wait is
that four or fifty five? Feet? Well, NO i didn't
think it was the. FEAT i thought it was like
the area code or something for Like cleveland two and.
Six So Mike devereaux pinch hitting eleven for fifty six
(02:15:35):
in his career for pinch, Hitting oh, wow oh my,
gosh this is this is.
Speaker 3 (02:15:49):
Embarrassing all likely that, says See, jones does he know
something we don't that he knows THAT A jones is
coming up the phone following.
Speaker 1 (02:16:00):
Year. Hmmm. Interesting cleveland fans have to be just.
Speaker 3 (02:16:09):
They're not, leaving by the. Way they still have That
ohio lottery. Logo by the, way that's. Cool they have
gotten rid of the jumbo tron on the.
Speaker 1 (02:16:21):
Date here's two nice nice play.
Speaker 3 (02:16:24):
Scale let's give up the.
Speaker 1 (02:16:26):
Lead and then turn the most athletic play of the entire. Game,
Tony manny and. Cheese you get the heart of the
lineup coming? Up, though what is? It bottom of the
eighth now bottom of the? Eighth watch look at? THAT i,
(02:16:46):
mean what a play the. Scale BUT i mean it
doesn't matter at this. Point none of it matters if
you're going to. Lose, okay be careful break your foot that. Way,
(02:17:13):
oh it's like one of my favorite scenes In lord
of The rings is When Eric gorn kicks the. HELMET
i don't know if you know that. Scene he kicks
that in the. Moot in in that scene he actually
broke his. Foot he like screams after because he actually
Broke they.
Speaker 3 (02:17:32):
Kept it in because he, actually, yeah it was like a.
Speaker 1 (02:17:35):
Good, scream but, yep you can't like kicks his foot
breaks it and he's like.
Speaker 3 (02:17:42):
Losing the little bones in his.
Speaker 1 (02:17:43):
FEET. O. Yeah. Uh another little fun story as it's
the bottom of the eighth one out in The World
series nineteen ninety, Five game three In. Cleveland. Playbackers if
you haven't seen a photo of me, before, Again i'll
describe myself long, hair. Beard And i'm also big fan
of tattoos covered in. Tattoos my wife actually got her
(02:18:06):
first tattoo with. Me she had never had a tattoo
before we, met and she got a tattoo on her.
Foot and you don't have any, tattoos, Right, NO i
didn't think so if you don't know tattoos on your,
feet your feet are some of the most sensitive places
to get a, tattoo and SO i most of my.
(02:18:28):
TATTOOS i have a couple on my, legs but most
of them are on my. Arms and your arms are
pretty easy to get tattoos. DONE i, mean tattoos, hurt they're,
painful but.
Speaker 3 (02:18:36):
The most part they go on your arms for the most.
Speaker 1 (02:18:38):
Part the Average, yeah most, people most people get there
on their, arms you, know like you can get them
like obviously, anywhere but, YEAH i don't have any on my.
Feet so my wife asked me before she got her.
Tattoo she's, like you, know is it gonna? Hurt AND
i was, like, yeah it's a, tattoo it's gonna. Hurt
but you, Know i've never gotten out of like ONCE
i sit down to get my. Tattoo i've never had
(02:19:00):
to get up and walk around or do anything like
ever through all the Tattoos i've. Gotten and SO i was,
like you, know it, hurts but it's you, know, doable
be able to sit through. It you'll be. FINE i
didn't know that feet tattoos were, painful like more painful
than most, right AND i never thought about. It so
(02:19:23):
like she got she got the, tattoo and the guy was,
like are you, ready and she has like a it's a.
Flower it's like a nice simple. Flower almost broke my
hand squeezing my hand so. HARD i did not. Realize
so this is an apology to my, Wife. AARON i am.
SORRY i did not realize getting your foot tattooed would
hurt as bad as it. Did but, yeah breaking the
(02:19:46):
bones in your. FOOT i can imagine those probably hurt really.
Bad two yep walked. Them, okay still in. It one
down interesting one. HERE i, Mean cleveland's so. Disappointing Mike
(02:20:18):
hargrove just did not make, good good decisions the last two. Winning,
yeah you don't deserve to win when you're, playing when
you're coaching like, this when you're. Managing you have to, Know,
Blake you've.
Speaker 3 (02:20:28):
Got to manage to, win all, right cheese mm. Hmm
(02:20:52):
it's not going to gether some brero will he he?
Speaker 1 (02:20:55):
May, yeah it's not looking. Good you, know the golden
sombrero is right for dancing around four. Strikeouts There's Jose. Mesa,
yeah be, nice if the be. Nice If cleveland had the,
lead let's bring the closer in while we're losing. Ball
(02:21:23):
that's not that. GOOD i think he platooned that year
with Herb. Perry let's, go he's got that and not even.
(02:21:47):
Close they said he stumbled around. Second it didn't even.
Matter fielder wasn't even close with that. Throw, mhm keep, believing.
Buddy it wasn't quite Believe.
Speaker 3 (02:22:03):
Land yet they weren't calling they people were not Calling
cleveland The land in the nineties believe it or? Not, Really,
yeah didn't that didn't get that moniker until the twenty,
tens was?
Speaker 1 (02:22:13):
It why did he get the? Moniker do you?
Speaker 3 (02:22:16):
Know because, they'll you, know just take Away cleave and
you get, land.
Speaker 1 (02:22:19):
Right. YEAH i didn't know if there was like a
who came up with it kind of, thing like a, yeah.
Speaker 3 (02:22:24):
Who did come up with the? Land it? Was it
might have been a director in the.
Speaker 1 (02:22:28):
Area it wasn't like, A i, know Machine. Gun kelly's
a big music like artist From. Cleveland he babe shouts
Out cleveland all the. TIME i wonder, Who let me
see IF i can look it up the origin of the? Land?
Yeah or who called it? That Mark Owne thugs In
(02:22:54):
harmony popularize the Nickname Mark wolders by the, Way.
Speaker 3 (02:22:59):
Yeah he's coming in to close it.
Speaker 1 (02:23:02):
Out Bone thugs And harmony popularized the nickname The land For.
Cleveland and guess what year it was in the, nineties
nineteen ninety. Five ok so this they they weren't calling
it the land right, now.
Speaker 3 (02:23:14):
But people you weren't seeing it like.
Speaker 1 (02:23:16):
No, yeah it wasn't popularized as. Much Lebron james further
commented its popularity in the mid twenty. Tens the term
is a shorthand for Cleve, land created by chopping off
the first part of the city's.
Speaker 3 (02:23:28):
Name you take a cleave, tour, right yeah? Yeah Mark
wohlers three saves three.
Speaker 1 (02:23:39):
Era what are? They what are they? Playing wooly wooly.
Speaker 3 (02:23:47):
Wholly bully the number one song of nineteen sixty, SEVEN
I believe without hitting number?
Speaker 1 (02:23:56):
One how does that?
Speaker 3 (02:23:59):
Happen say that one more? Time the number one song
of the year without actually hitting number. One it happened
in two. Thousand it also lippened in two thousand and.
One it happened in twenty twenty. One you want to
know the songs that were in two thousand and twenty
one and twenty twenty?
Speaker 1 (02:24:16):
One what it?
Speaker 3 (02:24:19):
Was two thousand it was breathed by Faith hill was
not never hit number one on the pop. Chart was
the number one song of two.
Speaker 1 (02:24:25):
Thousand how that doesn't just because of is it like
sales or plays or?
Speaker 3 (02:24:31):
Probably hanging by a moment by Life house was the
number one song of two thousand and.
Speaker 1 (02:24:36):
One Life, House, yeah hanging by a? Moment what is it?
Like give me like a little oh yea yea yea,
yeah yah yah yeah, YEAH i was just SAYING i
know that. SONG i can't think of it levitating in
twenty twenty one levitating, yep hold, On, Julia oh, yes, yes, yes,
(02:24:58):
yes that's. Weird that's a crazy statistic to be the
number one song and not be number. One, correct you're number,
one but you never hit number. One, yeah you like
you have a number one. Hit that's not a number one.
Hit that's. What how did it? Work it? Worked base,
Hit it's, tied the, game that's. Tied nice double no? Outs? Right?
(02:25:37):
Wow for? Real manny looks, weird by the, way with
like a shaved. HEAD i feel LIKE i haven't seen
you never Seen manny with a shaved head back then you? Did,
YEAH i. Know wohlers instantly comes in to give up the,
(02:25:58):
game allow to be. Tied nice, Hit what a, great great? Hit,
oh great. HIT i mean the way it just carromed
off the. Foul. Yeah well it as it curves around first,
base that's what's. Incredible literally stays fair just enough to
(02:26:22):
just enough to be a, hit just enough to drive In. Manny,
Honestly David justice kind of eats the throw, there doesn't
even try to get it. In. Sandy, yeah you're talking
about someone who doesn't have an arm or doesn't have a.
Bat they're gonna Walk Kenny, Lofton, really, Ye, kenny he's
(02:26:43):
got to Have he's having one of the greatest Games
i've seen in A World series a long. Time three.
Walks he walked the first, inning he walked again later,
on and then he. Walked he's gonna walk now in
what the eighth or. Ninth we're in the eighth inning
and he's got a double and a, single so he's
(02:27:03):
reached base five times this game and he's been a
run on what two of them at least having to
have a, Day kenny LOFT i Thought naggie was gonna
be the guy THAT i was, gonna you, know cheer.
On but tonight's the night the lights go out In.
GEORGIA i hate that. Song by the, way WHEN i,
(02:27:28):
uh WHEN i got out of the, Navy HAVE i
ever told you? This there there's A Zach Brown Zach brown.
Band So i'm not a big country, fan but when
WHEN i got out of The, NAVY i played one
of their songs because they, sing, uh what is it are?
You it's it's as vo Comigos. Yah, yeah leave AND.
(02:27:51):
GA i played that the DAY i got out of
The navy and drove, home AS I i'm not even
a big country, fan but AS i pulled out Of,
georgia you're gonna sit in the hot one or sit
in the hot sun and roll a big something something. Something. Yeah,
oh or if you scale at the, dish there's a
(02:28:12):
great way to roll out Of. Georgia was listening to that.
Stuff the lights went out In georgia that. Day for, You,
yeah for, Me i've only been, BACK i think. TWICE
i had to go back for my sister's. Wedding bottom
of the, eighth one OUT m six.' six i've only
(02:28:37):
been in the cheap seats Once. In cleveland So At,
progressive field well like under the like a? Grandstand seat
are you talking like a? Nosebleed? Seat, nose, Because, HONESTLY
angels i don't mind the nose bleeds. And baseball it's
the GRANDSTAND seats i. Can't stand IT'S like i don't
want to be under. THE roof i want to. Foul,
ball yeah THAT'S all i. Care about yet under the
(02:28:57):
grand stands with. A glove you're, just like what's, The, point. Yeah,
Exactly yeah but. The fence they got rid, of that
so that's. COOL though I like i two, outs yep
the last they got rid.
Speaker 3 (02:29:10):
Of THAT when i took the Tour At, progressive field
they still, had them but they they recently got rid.
Speaker 1 (02:29:16):
Of there they're.
Speaker 3 (02:29:16):
Doing this you've seen this probably where stadiums. Are ballparks
they'll have a five year of three to five year
Plan where i'll where they'll work on one part of
it and then the next year the. Next Part The
jacksonville jaguars are.
Speaker 1 (02:29:28):
Doing, that yeah well because they don't want to like
shut down. The, stadium correct it's work that has to
be done like year, round, essentially right.
Speaker 3 (02:29:34):
They are going to play in a different venue for
at least a year or Two.
Speaker 1 (02:29:39):
In, cleveland No, The, jets yeah they're they're as they
make Renovations To. Trevor bank trevor it's actually a. NICE
stadium I. Like EverBank the bottoms but in the Air
(02:30:00):
in jacksonville is.
Speaker 3 (02:30:01):
Like but they were saying that back in the nineties
when it was uh what was it was It All?
TELL stadium i think they called it at. The, time
YEAH but i.
Speaker 1 (02:30:10):
LIKE it i honestly like. Every bank it's a, big
STADIUM and i have a feeling like it's gonna be
like this for. A while it's, Six' six cleveland ties
it back up going. Into the ninth what. A, HIT
(02:30:41):
y yeah i was. Wondering that too i'm honestly Glad
That The bob bob, costas, Asked, that because yeah, you
were wondering why is he pointing towards foul because it was.
A fair ball also must Be cold in cleveland because
(02:31:06):
the umpires thrown. On the jacket now herb why is
it as expected because the platooning between Him and In
sorrento in toronto and also playing the percentages of wolers
and or should it? Go to extra oh like they're,
(02:31:27):
saying like now like he's gonna have a better bat.
Against the, Bullpen ye okay.
Speaker 3 (02:31:34):
So you got the three m line. Up right Here
you've Got mark, Lime key right You're Gonna have mike
Mordecai And. Then markise grissom.
Speaker 1 (02:31:47):
Let's see if jose can get through this. Relief in
ing sandy almost caught that ball off of the foul off. The,
foul head yeah would have been tipped Into, his mit
no because it spikes. Into the ground but then he
like he almost, catches, it, again right yes ball. Mm,
(02:32:26):
hm damn yeah. He was unhittable. That's pretty good m
that collective groan. From the crowd that's one of my
favorite things about being at the ballpark is being able
to like be a part, of the, group You know
(02:32:47):
like i've told That Story About jackie Bradley Junior robbing
aaron judge and Like when, In, FENWAY anyways manny, i
will say you get to play in the wall out
and right if You know the that's then, other thing
too if you're, the home familiarity if you know the
wall and you can play the knooks and the crannies
(02:33:07):
and the crevice is much Like Back Of dwight evans
fenway in the nineteen. Seventy, five rod yeah he knew the.
Speaker 3 (02:33:14):
Knooks and crannies and again, that right field, as you know. Is,
very short yes you've got to play.
Speaker 1 (02:33:20):
That Over there in fenway or. All, of, it yeah
yeah you've got to. Play you all then on the,
other side too, the biggest thing the Biggest Advantage that
red sox players have is being able to. Play, the
monster yes because opposing teams don't have a. Wall like
that ever where you've got to learn how to like
play the bounce. Off the monster and with such a high,
(02:33:40):
wall like that the bounce when it comes off is.
Hard to judge and then even then the, scoreboard out
there do? You bump that and it went. Into, the
stands yeah how fast? Was the throw two hundred and five?
Miles an hour he pitched that out of? The drugs.
Machine Triple. Ms, mike mordecai, Nope, come on jose just
(02:34:24):
get to the bottom of, The ninth already like. It
was nice naggie was rolling through the first like. Three
four innings this is. BASEBALL for, you i know it's
all about, pacing and everything and pace of play was
not an. Issue back then well that was the thing
is nowadays you. Can't do this not that they're doing anything,
crazy Right now but i'm just, saying in general like.
(02:34:46):
Nowadays you can't you can't take your time and like
use it to. Like, Your advantage right you can't get
in the head of the batter as much, because you
know the pitch. CLOCK is there i almost think that
the batters you use the pitch clock more to their
advantage than.
Speaker 3 (02:35:04):
Than, the, Pictures, pictures right yeah the pictures have, their
routine right and it doesn't take much to.
Speaker 1 (02:35:10):
Throw them off, and the batters you'll see a lot
of times batters will sit like out of the box
until right in the last second when they have to.
Get back in. And even then the the, other thing
too is like batters and base runners will mess with
the pitcher to try and get them to step off and,
stuff now too not even, with the clock but just
(02:35:32):
with like the limited amount of. Pickoffs in general good Bunt,
by uh mardecai because if, that goes foul. That's a
strikeout he already. Had two strikes he.
Speaker 3 (02:35:45):
Already, had too right so he had he bunted foul. One,
more time.
Speaker 1 (02:35:50):
Yeah that was a good bunt to lay it down
in and give the give the runner on first a
chance To Get m here's grissom who reached last time,
(02:36:14):
he was up and he's been one of the more
dominant Bats, Here In Atlanta. Mark, mike markeys yeah the
lead Off. Here for atlanta if You're, if you're jose
you gotta get you gotta get an out. Here for
sure you cannot let the heart of the lineup, get, up,
(02:36:34):
HERE right man I can't believe cleveland threw. This game
away i'm so. Mad for them i'm. Just so mad.
Speaker 3 (02:36:49):
Strike ninety six. On nobody's LEFT.
Speaker 1 (02:37:29):
They just.
Speaker 3 (02:37:31):
I Don't know what cleveland looked like back in. Nineteen
ninety five outside. Struck Them out but i'd have to
imagine travel probably was a little bit more, better back
then where you, could, you know trains buses.
Speaker 1 (02:37:42):
In, the life, yeah of, course like public public. Transportation,
Type stuff yeah oh.
Speaker 3 (02:37:46):
IT'S great now I love what. I'M just saying i
don't know what it was what it had looked like
back in, nineteen, ninety five.
Speaker 1 (02:37:55):
Well.
Speaker 3 (02:37:55):
Around these parts travel in, nineteen ninety five in terms of,
BUS bus station i think was opened a lot later
at the back back in those days and could go. To,
more places, yeah just TODAY.
Speaker 1 (02:38:06):
Just because, i feel like well, with the pandemic hours
changed and everything. Like that too but buses were probably
open later here just because it was harder to book
a reservation online and they had no. Online yeah exactly
so it's like they just had to stay open and
get the ticket to just kind of. Be. More available
(02:38:27):
yeah now they can be like get your, ticket by
four or don't get a. Ticket at all they're waving
the fans are Waving. Goodbye to grissom they're trying to
get him. OFF his game i can't even read this
(02:38:47):
dude's sign because these two guys are just jumping into
each other. And with excitement grissom. Already struck, out So.
Yes not grissom but? Who's up now It's? Not, a
polonia yeah Two, strikes to polonia. Put them away, m ninety,
(02:39:15):
eight got it he, got ninety eight and they've. Got
the pitch the pitch speed up there like it's like
the fastest pitch, they've ever seen ninety eight. Miles an
hour what a fastball? From This Guy got jacob misearowski
threw a ninety seven mile an hour, slider this year
the miz ninety seven mile an hour, Slider this year and, not,
(02:39:35):
just like oh we're gonna call, it a slider but it's. Really,
a fastball no. It's a slider it's got break and
it's ninety seven mm hmmm outside. And high eight it's
keeping the heat on like. It's, winning time nope there's
(02:40:21):
a curve two two two two's all. Over the board
sorts say six full count through ninety seven. On that
one how about we throw it. In the zone let's
(02:40:42):
get him out come on full, count two outs planners
going to if, they're all going, anything's in contact if,
(02:41:04):
anything's in play it's. Scoring A, run m yeah and
you definitely don't want to see. Him right now.
Speaker 3 (02:41:21):
So They're, on Jose Hose, Whereas Jose Ramirez Jose. Jose
osejse Hose.
Speaker 1 (02:41:27):
They also i'm Pretty sure the astros also Do that For. Jose,
al TUOVE yeah But i. Like ramirez better ninety eight
can't get it by you gotta he's gotta hit him with.
That SPLITTER again but i don't think he's gonna chase.
Is The Problem.
Speaker 3 (02:41:52):
There's charlie manuel, on the, bench walked them oh and
(02:42:16):
two and. He walked them.
Speaker 1 (02:42:20):
What? Are we doing oh you Mean there.

One and, one oh see now he's throwing. The good
(02:43:46):
stuff but it's like where was this? LAST at bat
i think? He, Walked, right yeah oh you always think
(02:44:12):
it's like a towering shot because the camera has to
zoom out to. Find The, Ball h like, i'm always
(02:44:38):
curious what? Are we doing stop just like throwing It like,
He's he's like i'm gonna throw it AS hard as
i can. With, no accuracy like but The thing that
i'm always, curious, about is like and we, were talking
About Is does kenny lofton's brain work? Faster THAN mine
(02:44:59):
like i feel like your reaction TIME the, average mlb
player the reaction time has to be through. The. Roof
obviously yeah their eyes have, to be, Good Like sure
chipper jones eyes he's probably got like his reaction and
(02:45:20):
his his like vision is, probably so good like being
able to see a different, pitch coming in like seeing
it how it comes out of, Their hand essentially and
you got to be able to be, Like like that
like you gotta be like, faster than that faster than
it takes. Me to snap you got to be, quicker,
than that yeah. Which, is unreal yeah and you got
(02:45:41):
to be able to like make contact and have, power
behind it like he's staring at the. Picture Right now
all i'm thinking is like, this dude's brain what's going?
Through his brain his brain's probably working a million miles
an hour. Through the, heat, you know fool that could have.
Speaker 3 (02:46:03):
Been A Disaster so Jose Mason And sandy alomar junior
trying to get on. The same Page.
Speaker 1 (02:46:26):
Is That Herd? GROVER mark wiley I, Think, it's mark.
Speaker 3 (02:46:30):
Yeah Because there's heart grove in the dugout.
Speaker 1 (02:46:38):
Hit. The, Rosin bag, dude come on get a little
bit of stuff. On your, hands come on let's get.
Into the game Let's lock in mesa, a good curveball
even though he throws a slider. Not a curveball huge
(02:47:07):
play By, The Substitute perry herb perry to end the
inning and the top of, the ninth anyways and the
half as we drop back to the bottom, Of the
ninth cleveland at home looking to walk it off. In
the land. WHAT a snag i want to know what
(02:47:35):
the exit v low. IS on that i think that tops.
One hundred easily that was a. Hard Hit easily belle
murray And the homie tony. On The way scoach dick.
Is My guy jim harbaugh when he Played. For the,
(02:48:02):
colts of course, the cardiac.
Speaker 3 (02:48:04):
Cults, the cardiac Cults they called. Harbaugh captain, COMEBACK he.
Speaker 1 (02:48:11):
Uh i don't know if he still has the if
he's still able to, hold that, title you know like.
HE was before i don't know if he's. Still. Captain comeback.
Speaker 3 (02:48:25):
Mmmm that had to. Be, well, over yeah easily.
Speaker 1 (02:48:30):
He, hammered that yeah nice. Snag that Too so herb perry,
(02:48:52):
is slightly, Better but yeah sorrental's got, that bat though even,
THOUGH they said i think earlier in the game he's
batten like two thirty five the season or, whatever it.
Speaker 3 (02:49:01):
Was it wasn't having a good ninety five in a
lineup Where You had Albert bell and jim told.
Speaker 1 (02:49:06):
He doesn't have to be the biggest. The biggest bat,
speaking Of which here's, Bell right. Now hell's bells you
said This. Was a Tuesday is It? Taco bell tuesday.
Speaker 3 (02:49:18):
Taco is It? Taco bell tuesday.
Speaker 1 (02:49:24):
Let's give him something to, taco bell all let's give
him sound there, to taco bell. Another bell ringer you can,
ring my bell. Ring my, bell and.
Speaker 3 (02:49:43):
Again, nobody's leaving no? Why would They It's.
Speaker 1 (02:49:46):
The world series tide game in the bottom. Of the
ninth what do you got to do with ninety five that's?
Better than this go to school that ain't? Better, than,
this no.
Speaker 3 (02:50:00):
Well if you're gonna go to school and, see pretty girls,
it might, be but no.
Speaker 1 (02:50:04):
This is better. This is better this game solid mm
(02:50:25):
official target. On the. Scoreboard that's, funny, LOCKED in man
i can tell almost they almost broke his spine. Swinging
(02:50:46):
so hard, oh my gosh he tried. To crush that
PLEASE you what m? Just. Under it yep pitching around can, have,
(02:51:14):
its DISADVANTAGES see but i don't know if he's even
necessarily trying To. Pitch around bell you gotta pitch it. To.
Him though yeah so we've already seen a blown Save In,
the world. Series, right bowlers. YEP nasty pitch i thought
(02:51:43):
that was a strike three game, winning home run so. Like,
three walkoffs essentially.
Speaker 3 (02:51:56):
They didn't call him. Walkoffs back.
Speaker 1 (02:51:57):
Then. THAT'S weird yeah i love the, term walk off
like a walk off home run or a Walk off.
Speaker 3 (02:52:03):
Head it's classic you know how they call it walk
off right because you walk off because the the other
is walking off the field.
Speaker 1 (02:52:10):
Of, leg it nope. Nop mm hmm he hasn't really done,
much this series which is.
Speaker 3 (02:52:24):
Hard to believe because You're the the you're, The big
bat you're the heart and soul of the TEAM'S. M,
v P Essentially as bob, costas, puts it Succinctly Like
(02:52:46):
Only robert Quinland Costas.
Speaker 1 (02:52:48):
CAN steady eddie, A uh GOSH i wish.
Speaker 3 (02:53:00):
I got it i don't know what, Loops You're, Reading.
Speaker 1 (02:53:02):
Bob steady steady eddie needs. To do something he hasn't.
DONE anything tonight i feel like he's been the Worst batter,
in cleveland's lineup not, that you know not that the whole,
lineup's BEEN great but i said that stop. No. POP
(02:53:27):
out dang i thought. He crushed that, FOR a second, i,
Was like now wohlers is gonna probably be able to
get out of this and bring us. To the Tenth
he's got he's. One batter away and who do we
Have Up? After? Eddie Murray, Here, jim Tomy. Oh The
(02:53:51):
homie The Rock and Roll.
Speaker 3 (02:53:56):
Hall of fame the, museum opened up, by the way
around this time in. Nineteen ninety five it's.
Speaker 1 (02:54:02):
Cool that they Put. It in cleveland do you know
why it Was. Placed, in cleveland.
Speaker 3 (02:54:06):
Yeah because rock and roll was essentially the term Was COINED.
By cleveland dj, so they said the heart of rock
and Roll. Is in cleveland and of course That's from
the heart Of rock And Roll by Huey.
Speaker 1 (02:54:19):
Lewison the news, so, that's one two Three Inning for
atlanta bonus Baseball In, The world series folks going To
The tenth dick eversall's aged five years in the, Last Three.
Innings Bud seiling bud seal looks like. A, paper Boy Yeah.
(02:54:46):
Called jay, leno Tell him we're you're gonna have to,
cut him off tell him to take. The night off, You're.
Preempted tonight jay what do you?
Speaker 3 (02:54:55):
Think, ABOUT that.
Speaker 1 (02:54:57):
Hey i don't know. What you mean He's, not my
joe not, my game us, not your game not. Your
mind GAME it's not.
Speaker 3 (02:55:06):
I love that When we did game six of the
Nineteen Seventy five world series on the Playback Between the
red Sox, and the Reds They. Preempted, johnny carson well
go back, twenty years Later They're preempting JAY leno on
nbc Because Of. The world series first or, not first pitch.
But a hit there Is this why fox doesn't have
(02:55:28):
a late night show because they know that baseball.
Speaker 1 (02:55:31):
Will preempt them they know they're all these sporting events
that they like to they pay all that money for
to get these, big sporting events and they know that
they're going to have to cut. Off other shows so,
they're just like we just won't. Have other shows it's.
Quite as simple it's just. Sports and. News that's.
Speaker 3 (02:55:45):
It late night KEEP that ON. Nbc and abc, We
gotta go we go to. Bed, at ten fox, as
you know is notorious for not having programming. Past ten
pm that's why they, have you know local news at
the ten pm and.
Speaker 1 (02:56:01):
Then, something, else yep man he's there. For That, one david,
justice one? Pitch one out? Who's on first? Who hit
after Was, it McGriff YEAH that's. What I thought so
(02:56:27):
I think they i think it said fifty two out
of like or, fifty five games like out of eighty.
Two or something mace has pitched, Like, one inning yes.
Something like that you only need you only needed him in. The,
ninth inning well This Is the world series and now
you need him In. The tenth yeah that was. Not
(02:56:54):
even close that was an awful Hack. By, was devereaux
yeah bottom. Of The lineup for cleveland in the. TENTH coming,
up i mean this. Dude looks, bad it's fine that's
(02:57:22):
Kind of, what cleveland needs. Build the confidence.
Speaker 3 (02:57:40):
He got a, piece of it ninety four.
Speaker 1 (02:57:42):
ON them, finally i mean but his. Swing looks awful,
it Looks ugly and devereux hits not confident in trying.
To hit it he had a hit earlier in the
game when he pinched hit m That Wasn't. Against, Jose,
MESA now baulk i thought that. Was a, strike m
(02:58:38):
hm so Did. Most of cleveland what? Are, These signs Yeah.
Speaker 3 (02:58:49):
I'll that jimmy williams SPELLED AT J, i m y.
Not two MS JAMIE J i m. Y got, him
h nice he knows he shouldn't have. Swung on that
he looked awful.
Speaker 1 (02:59:03):
In, the box yeah that WHOLE time, he's i mean
the one foul tip is probably the best. Swing he,
had is like it's. Not even close he looks stiff. Swinging,
it too yeah m oh get him swinging high, and inside,
(02:59:30):
again six six top of the Tenth In The world
series game three Ninety. Five in cleveland. Not even close
(02:59:52):
good good play by the second. Base On there. Carlos
by erga remember he's got, a bum foot so that.
Can't feel good no good jump before the picture even.
Started his motion. MM hm whoo i was really bad
(03:00:21):
as a catcher throwing it back to my. PICTURE so
bad i have A REALLY bad so i had to
take an asvab, and get like go through a bunch
OF testing before i. Joined the military and one thing
they test you on is. Your DEPTH perception and i was.
Great in everything the ONLY thing that i, could not
(03:00:41):
like do good at is. My depth perception my depth,
perception is awful and, SO playing catcher i would either
throw it short or throw it over the picture's head.
Almost every time got my erga ends the top. Of
the tent deliver Us From evil, Manny ramirez please? Oh
(03:01:17):
nice play and what a, snag here yep and he was. Out,
just barely yeah good job by the. Umpire catching that
THAT'S a hard i gotta give it to and, refs
in general like being, being a ref you gotta you
gotta see that real time and be able to be.
Speaker 3 (03:01:39):
Like he's out it, becomes real time but also becomes
a judgment call, In the end so relying on you
To make that wowler's who's a closer is pitching, his
third inning his His, essentially, his Yeah right two cleveland
(03:02:00):
errors as opposed To. One for atlanta this. Game's got everything,
it's got hits it's, got home runs, it's got errors,
it's got speed.
Speaker 1 (03:02:11):
Everything you look For In a. World. Series Game yeah,
if cleveland loses the series is, over. RIGHT now right
(03:02:52):
i can't believe they sent the closer out for essentially.
His third inning he's pitched an inning, in two thirds
but it's going to be closer to three. Innings, then
two yeah if he can get out of here that
they're not, Known, for this yeah. You know what they're
known for, getting three outs three And One, to manny
(03:03:18):
ramirez who Leads off for cleveland in the bottom. Of the,
tenth Bonus Baseball as jay dogg calls It. In the
land you ever been to an? Extra, inning game? YES you. Have,
i have yeah THE game that i Saw, AGAINST the
orioles i don't think. THAT was extras I Think the
(03:03:39):
red sox. Lost in nine maybe. It was extra Cleveland,
lost to arizona who, were the REIGNING defending undisputed nl champs,
at the. Time in.
Speaker 3 (03:03:47):
Extras that's frustrating walked them lead Off Walk. For manny
ramirez you know what, you don't, do you know. Get
picked off.
Speaker 1 (03:03:59):
Many's having, A better game i will say than. The
last game even before he got picked off in. The,
last game man he wasn't having like an amazing series up.
Until that Point Nothing. Crazy herb perry he's hit three
(03:04:23):
point thirty five from the seventh inning. ON this year
i was right down the middle and now they're going
to be sitting. ON the bunt i had to stretch
(03:04:51):
my legs the tenth inning Stretch for. Old siege year.
Speaker 3 (03:04:56):
You can't do it until, the, Fourteenth, INNING right, yeah
i know the, seventh inning stretch the. Fourteenth, INNING stretch.
Speaker 1 (03:05:01):
Yeah i missed. MY one opportunity i gotta wait. Another
seven innings.
Speaker 3 (03:05:06):
That's why they do take me out. To the ballgame
they don't do that IN the. Fourteenth i know it's
why are? You still here.
Speaker 1 (03:05:13):
Did they do Anything special in cleveland Like We have Sweet?
Caroline in? Boston anything special eighth thing they do, hang
on sloopy. Hang, ON sloopy yeah i DON'T know if,
i know that, hang, on sloopy Sloopy hang on oh
yeah YEAH yeah h, I oh yep.
Speaker 3 (03:05:33):
And they put out through the scoreboard and you spell
IT out like. Ymca, and, nice yeah yep because the
McCoy's are From, I, Believe, dayton ohio yeah which is Not,
anywhere Near cleveland but Dayton is Near. CINCINNATI'S still ohio
i Wonder if the, reds do that Because, if the
reds that's the Thing That the red. Sox can't claim
(03:05:55):
there's not Two Teams, in, new, england.
Speaker 1 (03:05:57):
Right yeah Right Boston is. New ENGLAND'S team what.
Speaker 3 (03:06:02):
I mean by that is there's Two. Teams.
Speaker 1 (03:06:03):
In ohio, Ohio uh yeah. Ohio has more they have
a lot, of sports teams like, just in general.
Speaker 3 (03:06:15):
They have that advantage where it's, like you know, You
Know again new england only has, one BASEBALL team, one
NFL team, one nba TEAM and, one nhl team, whereas the,
state you know The state of, ohio has well they
ONLY have one nba team AND one. An hl team
but THEY'VE got two nfl Teams In two major, league baseball.
Speaker 1 (03:06:33):
Teams and didn't they have at one POINT like an.
Speaker 3 (03:06:37):
Nba team, many many, movies like yeah a, long, Time
Ago Right the cincinnati royals Are Now.
Speaker 1 (03:06:42):
The, sacramento, kings yes yes let me Do, The.
Speaker 3 (03:06:48):

Speaker 1 (03:07:21):

Speaker 1 (03:07:32):
Be mixed sopranos that was. A disgusting pitch are you an?
Speaker 3 (03:07:43):

took french. In high school, IN middle School. I took spanish.
Speaker 1 (03:09:28):
Let me give you the. FULL backstory Here i took spanish.
In seventh grade souse we're going to. Be a while, grab.
A snickers Folks i took spanish, in seventh grade but
you HAD to, have i think like sea, or BETTER
average and I had a C, minus, in spanish YES
and so i wasn't Allowed to take spanish. IN eighth
grade i got KICKED out because i didn't have enough
(03:09:49):
grade to move on to the next. LEVEL or whatever I.
Speaker 3 (03:09:51):
Barely passed spanish in. The eighth grade never took. ANOTHER
language Again.
Speaker 1 (03:09:54):
I took french. IN high school i Wanted to learn french,
anyways AND first but i got Signed. Up. FOR spanish
whatever i Wanted to LEARN french because. I played hockey
I was around canadian People, who spoke french and they
were saying. Things about you? Is? THAT what well i
wanted TO find out i was. A good Thing but,
THE french teacher i don't, remember, her NAME yep because
i didn't have her. In MIDDLE school but i had
(03:10:16):
a lot of Friends that took french. In middle school
and She showed the french STUDENTS it THE tv the Tv,
series like it The mini series yes and The. Ball
gets nope she showed the mini Series To the black
Kitty because in french IT was a pg thirteen MOVIE
(03:10:38):
or a. Pg, thirteen rating Yes but in America, and
in english IT was a TV like, M a RIGHT
a rated R OR a tvm a rating.
Speaker 3 (03:10:46):
Which they didn't have the rate when when it came out,
IN nineteen ninety i believe on television that had perminal.
Discretion as advice THERE was, no, Tv RATINGS right the
tv ratings didn't come out till, the, Late nineties right.
And there WASN'T IT, wasn't tvm, a you know it
WAS Originally what M it was tv. Just, for mature
yeah IT wasn't A TV, WHY TV y, tv Y,
(03:11:08):
SEVEN TV, G tv pg tv FOURTEEN and then tvm
WHICH BECAME.
Speaker 1 (03:11:13):
Tv m a but so she showed the class of
eighth Graders, and every georgie. Come on down, everyone was SCARRED.

Speaker 3 (03:12:13):
Lobby lopez was not able to pick him off this
time or have. Him caught stealing all takes us.
Speaker 1 (03:12:20):

are They Gonna walk kenny? Lofton four TIMES what, you
i guess Well if his skell's not As, speedy as lofton, but? Who,
(03:13:06):
Is right yeah and at, THE same time I think
the skell's had a. Good night tonight he's he's seeing
the ball He drove home. Kenny multiple times, so it's
like if They're Gonna, walk kenny lofton you're just gonna
put the skelle up who's. Been Crushing It And. Pedro
borbone junior i'm gonna need a glass of. Burbone after
(03:13:30):
this he's a son, of A. Gun thanks bob.
Speaker 3 (03:13:37):
He's the Son of an he's the son OF a,
uh A Ballplayer whereas cody rhodes is the son of
a son. Of a plumber.
Speaker 1 (03:13:47):
They're gonna walk kenny lofton mm third? Can? Secutive walk
now is that? RESPECT or cowardice i think it's a little. Bit,
of both.
Speaker 3 (03:14:05):
Yeah for sure how many times do leadoff? Hitters get
walked it's the sluggers. That get walked?
Speaker 1 (03:14:12):
Isn't this unreal especially because You you walk kenny might
as well just put him at second base because that's. Where,
he's going yeah you know he's. GOT no, PLACE i
mean I will say lopez threw him out last time.
He was on he caught him, Stealing last time but yeah. The,
other time yeah it's not a common and the odds
of you catching him twice in a row. Are astronomically, low.
Speaker 3 (03:14:34):
And remember as the, innings wear on there's wear and tear.
On the Players So is hobby lopez is going to
be the same that he was two three innings ago
When he has.
Speaker 1 (03:14:43):
Is he gonna be able to throw the ball as
fast as he did just, a second ago like he
just threw a hard throat a. Second offensive game eleven
Hits for the braves and Ten. For, The Indians okay
ol Martive. Scale the, venezuelan in fact. It doesn't matter,
(03:15:07):
that's game. Right got them we go to the Eleventh.
INNING in, Cleveland, I thought mrquise oh love.
Speaker 3 (03:15:23):

some way if you, got to, like, You know well.
Speaker 1 (03:15:31):
I'm trying to go Out To the red sox season,
opener in. SEASON that's right i want to try and
get out. There.
Speaker 3 (03:15:38):

be able to make It out to Ohio and See
cincinnati and boston take, on each other.
Speaker 3 (03:16:00):
Because you're gonna have to BECAUSE guess. Where i am,
THE week later.
Speaker 1 (03:16:02):
I know EXACTLY so if i want, TO do it
I Got. To alan embry you. KNOW that name i do. Know.
That name yep not someone we've heard a Ton In
the world, Series so far mesa pitching, HIS third, inning i, think,
or yeah YEAH.
Speaker 3 (03:16:23):
Not the, i gotta say not the greatest Strategies From
either Bobby Cox. Or, mike hargrove no you're burning. Your
closer out what are You doing?
Speaker 1 (03:16:31):
In? Game three right.
Speaker 3 (03:16:34):
Cleveland. NEEDS it more i understand that they're. Down, to
love yeah but you're running The risk of woler's blowing
his arm out, or being fatigued and you are definitely
risking Major Injury, for jose. Mesa.
Speaker 1 (03:16:47):
A fireballer yeah well the, other thing too is like
it's not Like he's getting you don't have another arm
in the bullpen that's going to be anywhere as anywhere close. To.
Speaker 3 (03:16:58):
As good correct that's why you have the guy as
the and against that was that was the thing in the,
nineties as well you. Have, the guy yeah each team
had the closer of the guy if they've got if
they if they're throwing, that much gas Nobody else is.
Speaker 1 (03:17:11):
Do you think the closer is? A, DYING position no i.
Speaker 3 (03:17:15):
Think the emphasis on the closer is but the closer
themselves is not, a dying position whereas stolen bases is
a lost.
Speaker 1 (03:17:21):
ART now right i, didn't, know though because, like you
know an opener is like a new. Position That Exists The.
Speaker 3 (03:17:29):
Tampa, BAY rays essentially i don't want to say.
Speaker 1 (03:17:33):
That they didn't it's almost not a it's, not a
position but more of, like a strategy like, a you
know they refined the strategy of, having an opener but
closers almost feel like it's. Not dying down BUT maybe
maybe i think this Way Because the red sox up
until this past year haven't had really. An, established closer.
Speaker 3 (03:17:53):
Well the best closer is probably going to be, banned
from baseball, would?
Speaker 1 (03:17:57):
It? Be, right yeah okay, Just saying yeah, and, it's
like well a lot of these teams that, even you
know you watch a, lot, of baseball right could you
name every closer? For, every team, no you know like
you could probably name a good amount of relievers and good,
Amount of pitchers like closers aren't as they're not the guy.
(03:18:17):
Anymore that Shot that's, why, i'm saying, like you, KNOW
growing up i watched. Like, papal bond Uh you Know,
mo like, mariano, he was well he Was In The
all star, game every, year so yeah well he's also
he was one of the first he what was he
The first Unanimous hall of, fame the yeah should have. Been. Each,
(03:18:40):
HERO true no i was worried about. Him getting injured.
Speaker 3 (03:18:51):
The they when he, heard his hamstring they Started Calling.
Him hammy ramirez do you know what his PACE was
for rbi. In ninety nine he was on pace for
two hundred and twenty one.
Speaker 1 (03:19:04):
Runs batted in what happened was that when he, heard
his hammy he.
Speaker 3 (03:19:08):
Heard, his hammy yeah two hundred and twenty run one.
Runs bat at that's that's the pace.
Speaker 1 (03:19:15):
He was on that's wild two one hundred. And. Twenty
one wow what? Are we DOING what?
Speaker 3 (03:19:31):
Am i Watching you're watching game three of the Nineteen

inning and uh we're striking.
Speaker 1 (03:19:45):

Speaker 3 (03:19:48):
Are we doing not all players are as efficient on
the bunt as they would be, on you know just.
Speaker 1 (03:19:53):
HIT and Run.
Speaker 3 (03:19:58):
I think Mordecai played for, Philadelphia later On No That's
mickey moran, dean, Excuse Me okay mike mordecai sounds, like a. Wizard,
DOESN'T IT mordecai.
Speaker 1 (03:20:08):
I i can't believe he struck out. On A. Bunt
marquise grissom his. Average, is dipped yeah he's batten three
thirty three Right In. THE world series i mean.
Speaker 3 (03:20:24):
It's dipped though so it was like three seventy. At
one time now.
Speaker 1 (03:20:27):
It's forty seven pitches, from the closer, Which, you yeah
no it's turn. Two picture perfect they will.
Speaker 3 (03:20:37):
Too say Yeah, Carlos Bi erga Albert Bell And, steady
eddie murray here we Go watch. This vierga nice it

Was alamar and viscal it was.
Speaker 3 (03:21:07):
MILLIONS baby money i saw them to turn two Double
plays at fenway like.
Speaker 1 (03:21:12):
It was nothing, they've changed that. By the way, they
that song that song kind. Of died out it did.
Speaker 3 (03:21:34):
For A reason gary glitter looking up things. On the internet,
he shouldn't, ah.
Speaker 1 (03:21:42):
And hey whoa shut your, Computer. Screen down pena they?
Speaker 3 (03:21:55):

Think that the, maryland did That and The university of
maryland has adopted The Teenage mutant. Ninja turtles theme so
when you hear it, from the band like at, college basketball.
Speaker 1 (03:22:07):

the exact, it's the music but they do it like
It's like a. Rutgers, themed video yes. It's, very funny,
YEAH so YEAH i think i think, you KNEW that
though i don't know what that, gand WENT to. UH
(03:22:53):
i did i might have known that.
Speaker 3 (03:22:58):
They were doing a recruiting video for a college athlete
on the years ago and they had all the alums That.
WENT to Rutgers I think mario Batali went to. Rutgers,
AS well really i think he was actually college roommates with.
Speaker 1 (03:23:11):
GANDALFIEND that's CRAZY i gotta i gotta fact, check you
now because, if that's. True That's.
Speaker 3 (03:23:16):
Wild, Mario Batali.
Speaker 1 (03:23:26):
Yeah james gandolfini's College roommate at rutgers Was Celebrity. Chef
mario battali the two remained friends after college and were
known to have a close bond from their Time. TOGETHER
(03:23:47):
at Rutgers I, think artie buco you, know, THE character
right i think he is like based off Based. Off,
of mario, Way that's crazy. I'm, pretty, sure sure yeah,
ALL right now i gotta Look. Dot already buco It's
(03:24:09):
tacking away carlos one f by c Two f. By
Treasure three if bayerigae that foot has just got to be.
Speaker 3 (03:24:25):
ABSOLUTELY killing him i don't think any amount of cortisone
shots is, Gonna you know cortisol shots is gonna.
Speaker 1 (03:24:36):
Eighty one on the. Gun Off Speed as, bob buker
said it's not Directly Based, on mario batelli but there
are interesting real world connections and perceive. PARALLELS between them
(03:24:58):
i did read BEFORE that BEFORE i because I Looked
up arti buco based ON and then I Looked up
laraty Buco Based. On MARIO battalia before I Put, on
mario battally it said, it, was like uh this character
is someone that could Have been in gandolfini's life if
he had been a Part. Of, organized yeah yeah so
it sounds like it is kind of Loosely. Based on.
MARIO that's, crazy, i Mean Obviously book lardy buco Looks
(03:25:23):
Nothing like mario batan that like the, car like correct
it's just, his, like.
Speaker 3 (03:25:28):
Role, right his, demeanor The style what gandelfini probably picked
Up from knowing battali. All those, years that's.
Speaker 1 (03:25:36):
FUNNY that's crazy i DON'T know if i knew that
it was not. A great fact the chef and crocs
is this is part. Of the. Mob that's. Why that's
crazy the. WASTE management business i know it's, not the
sopranos but come to me on the damn. My daughter's
(03:25:57):
wedding that's? A base? Hit is that? Off the wall? Off?
The Wall, yeah by ergaz that's gonna Be a double
what has just.
Speaker 3 (03:26:07):
Got, to be like somebody get me? A shot please did.
Speaker 1 (03:26:11):
They pinch hit him here or pinch like a bring in.
A pinch runner i.
Speaker 3 (03:26:15):
Don't see why you wouldn't because you gotta think you
got you Gotta Think that jose mace is not coming
back in, if they right there's no way your closer's
not gonna try to throw. One, hundred pitches no he
was at forty eight right when they when the, ending, Took, ENDED.
Speaker 1 (03:26:36):
Right yeah i mean he might have been more than
they might have been. Close, to, fifty like yeah, they're gonna, pinch, yeah,
yeah yeah yeah SO as that i. THINK that's, espinosa
i mean if you, pinch, hit him yeah there's a
chance that's a triple if. It's, someone else.
Speaker 3 (03:26:54):
Yeah they're going To Intentionally, pass albert bell. WHO'S not
played i.
Speaker 1 (03:27:04):
Was gonna say that's kind of crazy because he's not. Doing,
So hot yeah i'm the number the best, rule change
ever which is.
Speaker 3 (03:27:17):
Just, four fingers yeah like you're. Gonna see why you're
gonna see why it is why you put four fingers
up that exactly close exactly if that, ball gets away
we're also. Just wasting time we know, You're walking him.
Speaker 1 (03:27:34):
Just. Walk him yep bell. Gets the pass so now
it's Up. To steady eddie are they pinch hitting or
are They pinch Running, Bell, to no.
Speaker 3 (03:27:57):
Actually, you know what maybe They Pinch run Reuben Um.
Speaker 1 (03:28:00):
For, ALBERT bell well i was gonna say he walked
back to the dugout after he. Got intentionally walked, Yeah,
right there yeah that ball gets, Away game over, game
over man and they're Going. To, steady eddie yes, here we.
Go no outs twenty three hits combined in this game over.
(03:28:31):
Five is crazy that's. A crazy statues you have a,
chance to go, oh for six that. Would be horrendous
game Channel you're inner yogi bearra and.
Speaker 3 (03:28:49):
That's game base hit, And guess what.
Speaker 1 (03:28:53):
Oh that's game es. TOUCHED the play i, was gonna
say who wha he? Touched the?
Speaker 3 (03:28:58):
Plate, cleveland wins wow seven to six. And, eleven innings there.
Speaker 1 (03:29:04):
It's, a series now twenty four hits, combined.
Speaker 3 (03:29:08):
In total and how many runs if it's seven to? Six,
or thirteen yeah this isn't one of those three two games.
Speaker 1 (03:29:17):
That was That was a.
Speaker 3 (03:29:18):
World, series matchup yeah that's what that. FIREWORKS are out.
I Love that those cleveland. Fireworks are terrific they usually
do it when their home run is hit and.
Speaker 1 (03:29:27):
You hear it do you?
Speaker 3 (03:29:28):
Feel it too it's.
Speaker 1 (03:29:29):
Just.
Speaker 3 (03:29:29):
BOOM boom right, i Love that, And i've again i've
visited one of Those Dugouts and eddie murray does.
Speaker 1 (03:29:38):
Not want To Talk. To jim gray is there a
reason the? Chop stops. Here, that's funny yeah he wasn't really. Into.
The media yeah, see back then there was. Really, no
obligation yeah It wasn't like i'm HERE just so i don't.
Get fined Career There's no. Marshawn lynch, here first pitch, by.
(03:30:01):
THE way yep i mean even if it's a even
if it's, a sack, fly it's like still. Gonna score something? How?
About that Huh One of jy dog's favorite moments as a.
AS a fan i BET don't think i was up to.
(03:30:22):
Watch this though you weren't up for the Eleventh. Inning
in cleveland this was probably it's had to be? Like what, midnight, well, yeah, yeah,
yeah yeah no, go to bed.
Speaker 3 (03:30:32):
You gotta go you. Got school tomorrow there's gonna be
another game, the next night right on. A different network.
Speaker 1 (03:30:42):
It doesn't mean they're winning the. Next night either that's
the other thing my parents ever said. That to ME
even if, I was five i would, have been like it's.
Not this game they have. A game tomorrow it, Ate this,
one i'll, Say You. Know. Atto espinosa see, also my
(03:31:02):
parents my parents would also they'd be like. Go to
BED and when i was like SMALL enough where i
would have to have like a bedtime or like a
DIDN'T have a tv in my. Room, or something yea
my parents would sit in, the living room which was outside,
of MY bedroom and i could just hear, the game
anyways so it. Didn't really matter, they'd be like. Go to, bed,
I'm like okay i'm still gonna be listening to, the
game anyways might as well just.
Speaker 3 (03:31:23):
Let me watch it's. Essentially, like, radio well yeah when,
you're in bed it's. Like, the RADIO yep so tv.
ON the radio i think we know who the player
of the, game Is, here.
Speaker 1 (03:31:33):
Only yeah it's gonna be the steadiest man. On the
lineup it's gonna be the guy who went one for
six And. Bailed out cleveland Blimp, Provided by, Goodyear, thank
you goodyear Yep and Catch game FOUR WEDNESDAY, ON A
b B. C see.
Speaker 2 (03:31:57):
Abc you're listening to The Playback with JADE dogg and
Cj on The.
Speaker 3 (03:32:01):
Pulse Podcast network The aftermath in game three of the
Nineteen Ninety five World series Between, cleveland and atlanta it's
a series. Now siege, Yep eleven innings cleveland wins. Seven
to six this GAME had, everything i know is definitely a.
GAME way, MORE i mean i don't want to. Say
way more they've all. Been good games cleveland just hasn't
(03:32:24):
been able to get it done. Until this one, with the,
bullpen you know stepping up to, make, it, happen.
Speaker 1 (03:32:31):
Pitching, defense home, runs blown saves this.
Speaker 3 (03:32:34):
One had everything this did have. Everything, for sure okay The.
Best bet award if you were, betting back then what
would the money line? Have looked, like talk, about you
know taking the odds or how sure risky this. Would
have been and we're going to start.
Speaker 1 (03:32:48):
Off, with that yeah, The MONEY line bookie cj here
money line for this one Would have been atlanta minus
one Thirty five in cleveland at plus. One point, Fifteen
of course cleveland Coming Off two world series losses back
To back, in atlanta, though so yeah series shifts back,
to The layout but atlanta making the case. For, a
sweep here they're looking really Solid And having john smoltz
(03:33:11):
on the. Mound to start i'm assuming back, in the
day especially, nineteen ninety five people would Have been expecting
Atlanta and expecting smolts to come out hot to. Start,
This game however cleveland had other. Thoughts than that the
run line was minus one and A, half for atlanta
that would have been minus One ten in cleveland it
would have been plus one hundred, to hit that and
(03:33:33):
the over under tootal for this would have been eight and,
a half runs which definitely. Hit the over but the
best bet for this game would Have been the cleveland
money line at plus one fifteen them to win at home.
PLUS one fifteen i would, have TAKEN that like i
would have definitely taken that as like in again it
(03:33:53):
was it's been. A close series cleveland hasn't been as
sharp as they need to be in the. First TWO
games but I feel like i would have gone with the.
Home TEAM anyways, and i know obviously you don't even
have to tell me you Would have taken cleveland. Off
the rip would you have gone with the money line
or would you probably, have you know? The run line
maybe what? Are you thinking money? The, money line yeah
money line is probably, a safe bet and that is
(03:34:14):
your best bet at plus one point fifteen. For this,
game game three and we're also going to have some series.
Awards moving on we're going To Have A least valuable
Player and A most valuable player at the end. Of
the series just wanted to mention that we're not at
the end of the. Series right now the odds they
were at the beginning of The Game, for manny ramirez
BUT right now i don't know who the least favorite or. Least.
(03:34:35):
Valuable play yeah now it's kind of Evened out after
manny had a big. Extra innings there he stepped up
to the, plate late there especially with. THAT steal too i.
Wasn't expecting that.
Speaker 3 (03:34:45):
So Worst Athletic Of worst athletic moment award. Went terribly
wrong was it a choke and collapse or just? Playing bad,
Luck To me aleandro pana just he did. Not, have
it yeah this, inning was, Here He is mark wohler's
going In doing his he did, blow the save but
he ended, up kind, of you know saving himself. Essentially
From disaster alejandro, pena comes in he can't.
Speaker 1 (03:35:09):
Get it done The manager For cleveland Is. Mary, cart
GROVE yeah AND i know. I mentioned it he's not
it's not an, athletic, For you right, but to me
like the worst athletic moment or, just worst, moment to
me it's still an athletic moment because. He's poor managing
cleveland ends up getting, the win here and he managed he,
turns it Around but leaving naggie in for as long
(03:35:31):
as he did after seeing him give up a home
run like a leadoff home run and what the seventh
and he gives up another one, in the eighth and
it's like you're watching. Him break, down you know, as
a manager you have to get in there. And stop
it what? Are we doing why are we letting? This
fall apart If you put mesa In there before naggie
gives up that, second home run maybe there's a chance
(03:35:53):
you don't even go. To extra innings Maybe you're maybe
mesa can pitch three innings to keep it alive before.
That EVEN happens so i gotta Give it to hargrove
just for. The poor managing it's frustrating to watch, as
a fan especially When you know I'm rooting for cleveland
here regardless OF what if i know the, Results are
not I'm rooting for cleveland to win this, Game Right now,
(03:36:13):
and i'm like what? Are? You doing stop like. Like
pull him. You're a manager you need to, save the team. Don't,
tank it essentially the.
Speaker 3 (03:36:22):
Peak physical specimen award who looked like the, ultimate athlete physique.
Speaker 1 (03:36:26):
Endurance And.
Speaker 3 (03:36:27):
Dominance, Kenny lofton yeah I'd.
Speaker 1 (03:36:30):
Probably say, kenny IT'S tough though I want to i
want to give It. TO uh bierga i feel like
he had a really really good, Game, bum foot yeah.
Really good game i'm gonna Give. IT to vierga i
like Your choice of lofton.
Speaker 3 (03:36:42):
Often got walked? Again four times how does? The leadoff
person how does the leadoff man? Ever get walked it's
the power hitter that gets. Walked four times and not
only did he get, walked four times three, in a. Row.
Speaker 1 (03:36:52):
INTENTIONALLY walked yeah I like your i like Your. ANSWER
for Lofton i just i'm gonna Give it to, bierga,
just because man he had. A great game defensively turned a.
Lot of twos, he you know stepped up late clutch
when he needed to legged out that double with. The. Bum,
Foot yeah yeah i'm giving it to. My air gun
(03:37:14):
my philosophy on this For Is. For, Kenny Lofton, ready, kenny,
lofton hitting running. GETTING intentionally walked i mean he. Literally
did it HE reached base i think six. Or seven
times that's Crazy and steady eddie And that, was you
know some playbackers, might be thinking we're going to Give
it to eddie just because he had, the clutch hit
(03:37:36):
but it's like.
Speaker 3 (03:37:37):
He went one FOR, SIX and i i mean THAT
last time i Thought that he murray was a specimen
was Probably The Eighties.
Speaker 1 (03:37:48):
Best.
Speaker 3 (03:37:48):
Sports nickname award who had the, most, legendary nickname, hilarious
perfectly fitting or all.
Speaker 1 (03:37:53):
Of the above I'm Going, With Steady, Eddie Steady eddie steady,
Eddy This. Time. Eddie MURRAY baby did i give Drink?
And BE murray did i mention anyone's name in the middle?
OF the playback i thought THERE was SOMEONE i WANTED
i said i wanted to give it to, at THE
beginning but i can't. REMEMBER it, wasn't I mean steady eddie.
Probably deserves it he deserves some credit. FOR this game
i mean, coming up clutch and that's. THAT'S the. Role i,
think first off let me. JUST mention This I think
(03:38:16):
eddie murray played his. Role perfectly tonight he's he's not
on the team to be a fifty. Home run guy
he's not on the team to be this crazy. Hitter
or whatever like. He's the veteran he's There to bring
like moments like that are why you bring in A
Guy like eddie murray is because you know the vet
that's gonna you have a vet that's gonna step up
(03:38:38):
to the plate and make the clutch plays when you. Need,
him TO essentially so I, like STEADY eddie but i
just wanted to mention he definitely. Deserves some credit even
though we went. One for six that won was the
biggest hit. Of, the winner, yeah of, Course All.
Speaker 3 (03:38:51):
Right Best, mike work award who, Talked the, talk best
interviews trash, Talk Or soundbites Costas MORGAN and. Yuker, nbc
rules yeah this is the Last last time cleveland And
In the WORLD series on nbc would happen until nineteen
ninety seven, because this game, as you know the next
Two games in CLEVELAND are on abc and the, Game after,
(03:39:14):
that game SIX is On. Nbc in atlanta So.
Speaker 1 (03:39:19):
It wasn't it Wasn't who's the who's The Guy from major?
League that Came That. WAS bob uker I feel like
uker's got to get IT just, because, I mean man.
UKER killed It. I think bob i'll give it to all.
Three Of them because costas was great too. In this
game this was my favorite cost this game that we've
done on the. PLAYBOUND so FAR i really i thought
his commentary. Was, Really Good, costas Joe Morgan and bob
(03:39:41):
yuker that was. Your, Big. Three yeah joe joe was
kind of like, in the back like not really not,
Not as four like What's the word? I'm looking for
What's the term. I'm looking for he wasn't like at
the forefront of the. Of the booth it was more
of he Was at the he wasn't at the forefront.
Of the booth it was More Of Like Bob's, costas
(03:40:04):
Bob's Yeah the bob's i'm gonna give It to the,
bobs this One But the Bob's.
Speaker 3 (03:40:07):
Bob's Letting Yeah Coolest moment award, the absolute chillest sickest
moment could be A celebration. Walkoff ricey staredown you, Want
to know i'm not gonna say. The Walk Off The
Coolest Moment. Award jacob's field postseason baseball in a. Second
year ballpark in the first time, in Two Generations the
(03:40:29):
world series is being played In my. Favorite, AMERICAN city.
Speaker 1 (03:40:33):
Yes i gotta give it to the Walk, Off, the jake,
yeah go ahead, You, Know what yeah i'll give it to.
THE walk off i was gonna say maybe some of
like the maybe some of The PITCHING from naggie, I really,
THOUGHT i Mean i thought naggie had. A great game
i don't put anything that he gave. UP on him
(03:40:54):
i really put it On. Managing, like cargrove yeah you're
gonna give up pitches and stuff like that and or.
Give up hits, as a pitcher you're not going to be.
Perfect every, game in fact most pitchers are never perfect.
In their lifetime but he had a great outing until
he was just like he was out there in the
eighth inning. As, a starter yeah Like In The World
(03:41:16):
series john smoltz was gone in. The, third inning yeah
you don't have to leave. Him in there and just,
like you Said they left mesa in there, for three
innings you're going you're burning. Through. Your, closer now granted
we both Also agreed that cleveland had. To do that
they they were in a little bit of a more
Dire situation than atlanta. In This game if atlanta, won
(03:41:38):
this game. Series is, over you know no one's coming
back from a three, to nothing deficit so it Is.
MORE on cleveland i understand Why they left, mesa in
there but the fact That you left naggie in there
when you could have put away the game, a lot.
Earlier POOR managing And i thought. Naggie played great the
fact that he was at eighty three pitches in the
eighth inning says just enough of how a fish and
(03:42:00):
he was throughout the game the second. And third ending
he was super economical. With, his pitches yeah screwed. The
walk off i'm Giving. It to naggy i'm just Giving
it to naggy his. PITCHING outing overall i understand that he,
that he, didn't you know get the win and get, the,
no decision right he didn't. Get a loss i'll give
(03:42:20):
It to nag if he had, GOTTEN the loss i.
Would have Said So the.
Speaker 3 (03:42:22):
Coolest moment award for me is As like the. JAKE
awesome ballpark i would know and at you have It
now as, naggy as okay coolest moment.
Speaker 1 (03:42:33):
Where he was Just kind of naggy's outing. Just, To,
gotcha Okay yeah.

first time in forty one Years That the world Series is.
In cleveland again the last time that had happened was
black and white TELEVISIONS. Also on nbc, by the way in.
Nineteen fifty four this is back when only two. Teams
got in there's. No, expanded postseason yeah it was just, the.
(03:43:00):
World here Correct if the giants were To, win the
pennant they had to have a one Game. Playoff Against
brooklyn if boston was able To Face The boston if
cleveland was able To Face the boston braves in The Forty,
eight world series they had to win a one Game.
Playoff at, Fenway totally different totally, different because now, as
you know top two teams Get In. The world, series, back,
then yeah, now expanded postseason no guarantee you have, the
(03:43:24):
best record. Doesn't, mean anything yeah we've seen Evidence In
the national league this Year that the Phillies and the
brewers did not Advance To. The, world series yes does,
it age well. It absolutely does the, walk off again
had everything, HAD walk off i was.
Speaker 1 (03:43:38):
About to SAY that's why i was going to agree
with you that, at AGED well and i didn't mean
to even. Cut you off. BUT go ahead i was.
Going to say this. Game had everything it had, The
walk off it had the Great, Outing by cleveland it
had the Relief. Pitching by atlanta it had twenty four hits.
Between two. Teams is amazing the what was it thirteen
(03:44:01):
runs scored in this game? Seven, To, six, yeah, offense
defense everything, you, name it, stealing getting. Caught, stealing everything
Yeah there's every the ONLY thing that i didn't see
in this game Was a bok that was it other
than that?
Speaker 3 (03:44:14):
Which, came.
Speaker 1 (03:44:15):
Close yeah exactly so this. Game had. Everything age great
you could show this to an alien and they would
understand this is a great. Game of baseball?
Speaker 3 (03:44:23):
How, about that yeah so when, aliens come down you
can show.
Speaker 1 (03:44:26):
