(00:00):
So today we're gonna be reading JonahChapter two, verse six. I descended
to the roots of the mountains theearth with this bars was around me forever.
But you have brought up my lifefrom the pit, Oh Lord,
my God. Now Chapter one tellsof God's command for Jonah to go to

(00:20):
the people in Nineveh and tell themto repent. Nineveh was a very wicked
city, much like Sodom and Gomorrah. But God is having mercy and assuring
tremendous grace to the people of Nineveh. So he's sending Jonah to go speak
to these people. And of course, if you know anything about the story,
Jonah absolutely refused. Jonah was disobedientand really ran as far away from

(00:43):
Nineveh as possible. Now, onething amongst many things to know about God
is that you can't outrun him.You know, the Psalmist said, if
I make my bed in hell,Lord you're there. If I take up
all the wings of eagles, Lordyou are there. So no matter where
we are, no matter where wego, God is there. He is
omnipresent. Now Jonah had learned thisless in the hard way. So after

(01:08):
running and being completely disobedient, Godhad him to be swallowed by a whale.
Now it was in this whale.I think he was in there for
like three days. And this isa nice correlation between Jonah and Jesus Christ,
as jesus body was laying in theteam for those three days. But

(01:30):
nonetheless, Jonah's disobedience led him tobe swallowed by a whale. Now,
God could have just destroyed Jonah forbeing disobedient, just like he could have
destroyed us for transgressing and send sinningagainst his holy way. But God shows
Jonah tremendous grace and mercy, justlike he is showing the people of nine

(01:52):
of Uh grace and mercy. Youknow, I feel like Jonah in this
really thought that he might have beenbetter than the people none of Uh.
But this story really shows us thatwe as humans are no better than one
another. All have sinned, allhave fallen short of God's glory, of
God's holy standard, of God's expectations, of God's design. We all need

(02:16):
God's grace and we all need hismercy. And Jonah, if he did
not get swalled up by the whale, if God did not teach him this,
he would have continued to think thathe was better than the people of
nine of Uh, so Jonah sinin the same manner. Nine of Uh
sinned in. And Jonah learned alesson while he was in the belly of

(02:37):
the whale, and we have himVerse six. I descended to the roots
of the mountains. The earth withhis bars was around me forever. But
you have brought up my life fromthe pit, Oh Lord, my God.
God's capacity to save is greater thanour capacity to sin. Jonah sin
was tremendously great, but God's greatan ability to save us is greater.

(03:02):
God promises to never leave us norforsake us. He's promises to with his
outstretched arm and his mighty hands toreach us. God is greater, and
he's able to reach no matter wherewe go in this world. He can
reach us. Jonah had to learnthat lesson. We must adhere to the

(03:27):
same lesson that Jonah learned. Nomatter what sin we've committed against Holy God,
God's capacity to save us is greaterthan any sin we have committed.
But we have to confess our sinsbefore God. We have to understand that
we have sin and we are sinnersand ask for forgiveness in order for us

(03:53):
to be saved. When Jonah wasin that belly of the will, he
came face to face with his homewrongdoing because when God released them from the
belly of the whale, Jonah livedobediently and went to the people of Minevah
and told them about God and toldthem to repent. And guess what the
people of Nineveh did. They've repented, just like Jonah repented for disobeying God.

(04:18):
Brothers and sisters, there's no sinin your life in this world that
God cannot forgive you for through thepower of Jesus Christ. And I just
pray that we all won't harbor oursin or you know, or shielded or
protected, that we confess it andshine light on it that we might find

(04:39):
forgiveness for our soul, just likeJonah did and just like the people of
Ninevah. Thanks for watching. Pleasebe sure to light and subscribe to this

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
