(00:00):
So today we're going to be readingJames Chapter five, verse sixteen. Therefore,
confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that
you may be healed. The effectiveprayer of a righteous man can accomplish much.
James actually starts out with therefore,so it kind of makes you think

(00:22):
if he starts out with therefore, there must have been something that he was
talking about beforehand. So what hewas talking about beforehand is he's ex exhorting
the Christians, right, He isreminding them that prayer that is offered to
God in faith restores a person. It restores and heals, and it has

(00:42):
the power to go really, reallyfar. So he kind of doubled down
on that same thought process that hehas. Therefore, he says, confess
your sins to one another. Soa lot of us don't even want to
admit that we are sinful, right, let it make mistakes. A lot
of us don't want to not onlyadmit them to ourselves, let alone confess

(01:07):
them to one another. But asChristians and brothers and sisters in Christ,
we must confess our sins to oneanother because the purpose of being in the
bodies to keep the unity and toglorify God through Christ Jesus. And if
we are in derision or in dissensionor in some type of conflict, you
know, we're kind of tweveling aroundwithin ourselves and not really being productive.

(01:33):
By confessing your sins to one another, you are being open, you're being
transparent, you're being honest, andyou being a person of integrity by confessing
your sins to one another, confessingwhether you did something wrong to your brother
or sister in Christ, or somethingyou've done wrong to God. But the
purpose is for restoration, grace andmercy and healing, is not for the

(01:57):
purpose of being torn down. Jamesalso called us to pray for one another
so that you may be healed again. This is doubling down on a previous
thought that he had actually in particularin verse fifteen. So we must pray
for one another that they be healedfrom their sin. Okay, that's the
whole point again, restoration, youknow, as we pray for others in

(02:20):
the Body of Christ when they sin, because all sin. Right, We're
just because we're saved doesn't mean we'renot going to sin. We're just not
slaves to it anymore, thank God. But we're going to sin, we're
going to fall short until the daywe're going to be with the Lord,
until we're perfected in him. Sowe must pray for one another that they
may be healed from their sin andbe delivered from any stronghold that they may

(02:45):
be facing. Because James says this, and this is a very well quoted
part of this verse, the effectiveprayer of a righteous man can accomplish much.
Because what's the contrary. If theeffective of a righteous man can accomplish
much, then that means the prayersof an unrighteous person can accomplish very little.

(03:07):
Okay, So the prayers of someonewho is righteous, who is in
right standing with God, who isa Christian, can accomplish accomplish much.
We must not conduct ourselves in amanner that is selfish or self absorbed.
We must conduct ourselves in light ofwhat God has said and care about other

(03:28):
people, esteem them as we esteemourselves, maybe even higher, because when
we do that, when we lookat other people, when we pay attention
to what they're going through and whatthey're facing regarding sin and in struggles in
life, we are able to prayfor them because now we know, because
the word of God says it thatour prayers as true Christians and followers of
Jesus Christ the Righteous avails much oraccomplish as much. So why when we

(03:53):
see our brother and sister struggling ina sin or in a trouble of or
sin from somebody else, that wewill keep silence and not pray for them.
Our prayers as children of God goesvery far and accomplish as much.
God hears the prayer in the criesof the righteous, and brothers and sisters,
we owe it to one another topray for them, to stand with

(04:15):
them, to help them, toguide them, because you never know when
we're going to need that same graceextended to us as well. Thanks for
watching. Please be sure to lightand subscribe to this channel and hit that

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
