Speaker 1 (00:00):
Well, let me just say this, if you're going to
the northern part of Japan anytime in the near future,
take the bear warnings seriously. If you see what they're
having to do over there. They're having to put their
military out to get control of the brown and black
bear population because citizens have been getting attacked left and right.
They're like, you can't go outside after dark, you can't
go into thick wilderness carry a bell at all times
to scare the bear. Like, let me get this straight.

(00:21):
A nine hundred pound bear gets scared by a bell,
But if you smell like donuts, I'm guessing he is
going to go damn the bell, I'm eating them. I mean,
that's just what it seems like to me. But they're like, yeah,
we have an overpopulation because the COVID years, people weren't
allowed to hunt them, and they quickly grew and they've
overrun the countryside. So like one person was in a
hot springs at a resort and got attacked while they
were soaking in that hot water. It's like, wow, look

(00:43):
they look like a hot dog, just bobbing there up
and down like that. They're hoping that the military can
get them under control and trap them so they could
figure out a solution there after. Good God, may can
you imagine for a nice evening stroll. The next thing
you know, you get jumped at the bus stop by
a nine hundred pound bear. That's not a good way
to go.

Medal of Honor: Stories of Courage

Medal of Honor: Stories of Courage

Rewarded for bravery that goes above and beyond the call of duty, the Medal of Honor is the United States’ top military decoration. The stories we tell are about the heroes who have distinguished themselves by acts of heroism and courage that have saved lives. From Judith Resnik, the second woman in space, to Daniel Daly, one of only 19 people to have received the Medal of Honor twice, these are stories about those who have done the improbable and unexpected, who have sacrificed something in the name of something much bigger than themselves. Every Wednesday on Medal of Honor, uncover what their experiences tell us about the nature of sacrifice, why people put their lives in danger for others, and what happens after you’ve become a hero. Special thanks to series creator Dan McGinn, to the Congressional Medal of Honor Society and Adam Plumpton. Medal of Honor begins on May 28.
