Billified: The Bill Moran Podcast hits the road—literally—to Kevin’s “Westside Garagio” for a special Memorial Day episode that blends fun with some serious eye-opening moments. With Memorial Day weekend marking the unofficial kickoff to outdoor drinking season, Bill wants to know: Do you actually know when you’ve had too much to drive?

To find out, Kevin and his neighbor Ashley sip their way through the episode while Deputy Hurley from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office periodically administers breathalyzer tests. You’ll be surprised at the BAC results versus how they feel. It’s a wild ride of laughs, slurred words, and surprising stats that’ll make you think twice before saying, “I’m fine to drive.”

Deputy Hurley shares real-life stories from his time on road patrol—everything from jaw-dropping confessions to encounters with impaired drivers—and explains why law enforcement’s ultimate goal isn’t just to hand out tickets, but to keep people safe.

Bill also digs into the emotional toll police work can take and why many officers stay quiet about trauma to protect others. This episode is a raw, real, and at times hilarious look at alcohol, perception, public safety, and the heavy responsibilities carried by law enforcement.
So grab a drink (if you’re not driving!), tune in, and find out just how quickly the numbers climb.
🎙️ Topics Covered:
  • Real-time BAC testing while drinking
  • The disconnect between how you feel vs. actual impairment

Speaker 1 (00:03):
On location and driven by Victor Chrysler Dodge G Brown.
It's bilified the Bill Moran Podcast. Well, hello and welcome

(00:23):
from the West Side in the garageio Press.

Speaker 2 (00:28):
You're awake for the Uh what do you.

Speaker 1 (00:30):
Mean when you hit the west side you fall asleep
after that long?

Speaker 3 (00:33):
It is a long drive. I Uh, it's been the
Uh it's been a day already.

Speaker 4 (00:38):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (00:39):
We are at Kevin's because we're gonna do the Uh.

Speaker 3 (00:42):
Well, I see outdoor drinking season kicks off with Memorial
Day weekend and uh, people probably even already drinking as
it is.

Speaker 1 (00:50):
But our good been drinking in here at last night.

Speaker 3 (00:53):
Deputy Hurley was kind enough to come out. I have
never seen what a breath of wiser even looks like.
That's a good thing. Wait, why am I not hearing him?
Let's try that now, Let's see.

Speaker 2 (01:04):
Is that better? That's better? All right, there we go.
I've been drinking. That's okay.

Speaker 3 (01:08):
Uh, I'm telling you, it's been like an absolute shit
show this morning. But the breathalyzer so that it's just
that small. I get pulled over to the side of
the road. How many people nowadays? What do you think
the percentage looks like a torch and find out it does.

Speaker 2 (01:26):
It does really come out and the yeah, the.

Speaker 3 (01:31):
So when somebody pulls up, what's the percentage of people
who probably say refuse nowadays?

Speaker 4 (01:37):
Uh, that's a tough call.

Speaker 5 (01:39):
If I had to guess, I would say maybe like
thirty percent.

Speaker 3 (01:43):
Oh really yeah, okay, I thought it would be higher
than that, didn't you.

Speaker 4 (01:46):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (01:47):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (01:48):
So what when you get pulled over? What are your choices? Blower?
No blow? Is that basically kind of it?

Speaker 4 (01:53):
I mean I would say it better than that.

Speaker 1 (01:56):
And if you say no, what, what does the like
that one you got a test comes into play? Or
is that all? I think?

Speaker 2 (02:03):
You're out in six months? No license? Right?

Speaker 4 (02:05):
So this this, first of all, let's clear it. This
is uh, this is a roadside test.

Speaker 5 (02:10):
This is just for us, right, This isn't even admissible
in court. Oh, it just gives us a rough idea
of where someone's at. So a lot of times you'll
get you'll get the person who's like, oh, I know,
I've only I've had a drink maybe two. I'm fine,
I'm not past the legal limit. You know, you can
put them through some of the tests and and this
just shows you and them where you're at. Right, The

(02:30):
actual legal test is back at the station, you know,
the full data master breath.

Speaker 2 (02:36):
Machine, and that one is admissible in court.

Speaker 4 (02:39):
That one is yes.

Speaker 3 (02:39):
So this is like the preliminary is just this is
your playing round, you know.

Speaker 5 (02:45):
Or there has been times where you know someone's very
cooperative and you know they're right on that cusp, and
sometimes you'll just say to them, because we have discretion,
you'll just say, hey, look at let's see where you're at,
see if you're good to drive, if if you're under
the legal limit, we'll let you go, and if not,
we'll call you a ride. Right, And sometimes we do
that because ultimately it's about safety, making sure that people

(03:05):
don't crash or kill other people.

Speaker 6 (03:07):
It's not always about the fines or the arrest.

Speaker 4 (03:10):
It's about people being same.

Speaker 1 (03:12):
Have you ever gotten to the window and you normal
what you're thinking. This guy's going to say one or
two and he's like, yeah, I've had like fourteen.

Speaker 7 (03:17):
Oh yeah, there's there's a few.

Speaker 1 (03:21):
Do I take that plays into their their benefit of
being honest with you.

Speaker 4 (03:24):
No, I think they're just so drunk that they're they
be honest.

Speaker 5 (03:27):
Yeah, I mean I've had people been right in the
middle of the test and they just say, fuck it,
I'm drunk.

Speaker 3 (03:32):
Oh my god, that's awesome. Well, yeah, because you drink
yourself to honesty. That's that's kind of beencreable. Well, because
you know, you just realize you're not going to be
able to perform this. You can't do this, You're busting.

Speaker 4 (03:46):
We had a guy one night.

Speaker 5 (03:47):
We were on another call for a burglary, sorry, and
we're standing outside finishing the job and I hear this loud,
grinding noise and we all kind of look at each
other like what is going on? And it was a
car coming down the road as a little truck and
he had blown at least two tires and was riding
the rim.

Speaker 4 (04:05):
I had no idea pull.

Speaker 5 (04:07):
Him over, didn't even do any of the tests. Right
at the window, he's like, I'm drunk.

Speaker 7 (04:12):
I got it.

Speaker 4 (04:14):
He goes, I'm drunk.

Speaker 5 (04:15):
I got cocaine in the in the center. He's like,
I just was going to party this weekend.

Speaker 4 (04:20):
Whatever, dude, you got.

Speaker 2 (04:21):
Me, whatever, dude, you got me. Wow.

Speaker 3 (04:25):
Okay, Now Kevin invited a neighbor I did Ashley, right, Okay,
So Ashley, because we wanted to see is there a
different male female kind of I don't know. We we
did talk to when we talked to you earlier this
week on a previous episode, you did say most of
our blood alcohol by volume is pretty much the same of.

Speaker 5 (04:48):
Us have the same volume blood. There is some science
out there that says that men can break down alcohol
faster than women, so women will theoretically stay in toxic longer.

Speaker 1 (05:00):
But it's not.

Speaker 3 (05:04):
So how do you recommend we do this experiment, because
the point is to show I think most people don't
know where point zero eight or even I mean, I
think they can prevent you from driving a point zero
seven even right, So there.

Speaker 5 (05:20):
Is no I mean, like point zero five, point zero
six makes it, you know, a little bit more dangerous,
but ultimately.

Speaker 4 (05:27):
It's it's your ability to drive.

Speaker 2 (05:29):
Right.

Speaker 5 (05:29):
I've had people who've crashed and they blew a point
zero two and then you're talking to them and you
would just think that they're extremely intoxicated just by the
way that they're acting. And like we said before, the
sometimes that could be a mixture of medications or yeah, sure,
diabetic people who are having a diabetic episode will appear
intoxication and even give that scent of alcoholic beverage.

Speaker 1 (05:50):
Wow, do you guys play in the factors? Like I've
put hockey for years, I got shitty knees. There might
be something on the Are you if I'm saying, hey,
I've got a bad shoulder or I've got bad knees.
Are you taking that as I've got bad knees and
bad shoulder or I'm just trying to get out of doing.

Speaker 5 (06:05):
Show absolutely your shoes. Everything comes into uh, you know
what we're doing. If you don't speak English, if you
don't know your alphabet, you know all those different things.

Speaker 4 (06:16):
You have to take all of that into a cord.
And you know, just because someone.

Speaker 6 (06:20):
Has bloodshot, watery eyes, does that mean they're in top English.

Speaker 4 (06:25):
We will be able to interpret for you.

Speaker 5 (06:26):
But I've had people pretend to be deaf, and there's
ways to find that out as well.

Speaker 3 (06:33):
But get them with a really loud horn behind them. Hey,
you sneak up behind them and blow this air horn.
Let's see what happens.

Speaker 8 (06:41):
Is there like standard tests that you do, Like if
you pull somebody over, it's like always the same thing,
and it's.

Speaker 6 (06:47):
All the stuff that you see right the standard fields.

Speaker 4 (06:48):
Sobriety testing. You can do the alphabet, you can do accounting.

Speaker 5 (06:52):
Even on boats they have standard Oh yeah, fingertip test
for your dexterity.

Speaker 4 (06:57):
If you can do that.

Speaker 6 (06:58):
You know, it's all the walk and turn the you know,
standing on one leg.

Speaker 1 (07:03):
But tread water for five cents.

Speaker 5 (07:04):
What people don't understand is there's rules to all that.
It's not just walk and turn right. You have to
do it a certain way. And it's your ability to
stand still while I'm giving you instructions.

Speaker 4 (07:14):
All plays into.

Speaker 5 (07:15):
It because what you'll get is a lot of people yea, yeah,
I know, and they just start walking.

Speaker 4 (07:18):
Add I never told you to start right, so.

Speaker 1 (07:20):
It's only a big old game.

Speaker 2 (07:21):
As Simon says, I was just gonna say that, it's.

Speaker 4 (07:23):
Your ability to function right, your ability to listen, your ability.

Speaker 6 (07:26):
To follow instructions, and to physical.

Speaker 5 (07:29):
Ability to do the testing, because think about it, I mean,
your kids are learning how to drive.

Speaker 4 (07:33):
It's not easy.

Speaker 5 (07:34):
We take it for granted because of the muscle memory
and we've been doing it for so long, but it's new. Yeah,
you know, there's a lot to it.

Speaker 2 (07:40):
Yeah, there is. Uh so, how do you think we
should do this?

Speaker 3 (07:43):
Because we didn't know if setting a baseline and then
having them drink.

Speaker 5 (07:48):
Yeah, I think the best way to do it would
be to do a quick test just to share that
they're not at anything right.

Speaker 7 (07:52):
So otherwise if they're a point well might night.

Speaker 3 (07:56):
That's the other thing is like people drinking then before
and then getting up and going to work and maybe
still having a little residual.

Speaker 2 (08:04):
The body didn't process it.

Speaker 5 (08:06):
So the other part that the liquor authority will tell you.

Speaker 4 (08:09):
Is that your liver is a magnificent thing.

Speaker 5 (08:12):
Your liver will get rid of on average, right, because
everybody's a little bit different. Every hour you're not drinking,
your liver will get rid of point zero two of
your blood alcohol. So if you're you're at a point
one and five hours of not drinking, you should be
back to a point zero.

Speaker 4 (08:30):
Interesting, Okay, that's not my strong.

Speaker 2 (08:32):
Suits, No, but I got you. I see, all right?
So who's uh? Who should we have up first? Ashley?

Speaker 1 (08:37):
Sure?

Speaker 2 (08:38):
For all right, We'll have Ashley go up first.

Speaker 4 (08:40):
We'll do two different straws.

Speaker 3 (08:41):
So you guys are yes, we're not breathalyzer making out,
no swapping.

Speaker 2 (08:49):
H Deputy Hurley is calibrating.

Speaker 1 (08:54):
Follow your paying attention, so.

Speaker 5 (08:57):
Make a tight seal and blow like you're blowing up
a balloon until it clicks.

Speaker 2 (09:03):
Okay, this is not a good setup, there.

Speaker 8 (09:07):
Goes Oh gosh, is that a bad sign?

Speaker 4 (09:09):
No?

Speaker 1 (09:11):
Jackpot?

Speaker 2 (09:12):
Zero? Okay, so she's zero, all right.

Speaker 5 (09:16):
And a lot of times what you'll have is you'll
get people who try to trick it all right, right,
because you're drunk and you think that you can do it.

Speaker 4 (09:21):
But you can.

Speaker 5 (09:22):
This machine will tell you if you're blowing or not,
and so will the official one.

Speaker 3 (09:27):
So does he just start blowing slow and let me
see it, or does he need to hit the uh?

Speaker 4 (09:33):
Okay and then wait for it to tell you.

Speaker 5 (09:35):
Turn it around and watch because it's doing a test
right now, making sure everything is the way it's supposed
to be.

Speaker 6 (09:39):
And once it says blow, take a deep breath and.

Speaker 2 (09:42):
All right, here we go. Kevin's blowing.

Speaker 4 (09:45):
You'll feel it. Click.

Speaker 2 (09:47):
That's I heard it click click.

Speaker 3 (09:49):
Sounded like it did, but I don't know. Zero zeros okay,
all right, soverybody's clean. So Kevin, go ahead, crack it.
Let's see what's going on the uh. Kevin's got a
course light actually drinking? What does that? Excuse me? Fancy yes, yeah,
but see that's another one. Like you know, wine and

(10:12):
beer not as strong. I wasn't drinking mixed drinks, but
you still could be that.

Speaker 2 (10:17):
I might go beer shot of something that's nice. Your
poor wife.

wuty hurly? Do we do another breathalyzer now to see
where they are after this?

Speaker 4 (12:03):
Yeah, we can see how long has it been?

Speaker 2 (12:05):
About? Uh? Probably yeah, about twenty minutes.

Speaker 4 (12:09):
See where we're at, see what it's done so far?

Speaker 3 (12:11):
If you want, yeah, should we do that? All right,
let's see where we're at, because I'd like to see
so And this is interesting because how many people go
to a happy hour after a stressful day, teachers, especially
right we're getting into the time where teachers are ready
for the end of the year and they are going
to be at the bar.

Speaker 1 (12:29):
Was at a bar on Friday with a bunch of
friends and there was a teacher group of teachers.

Speaker 3 (12:37):
What what is she eight point eight eight?

Speaker 4 (12:43):
You might did you just take a drink?

Speaker 8 (12:45):
Yeah, okay, I think I did.

Speaker 4 (12:47):
It might be that because that's a lot for the
back around.

Speaker 2 (12:50):
Wow, that's eight. No.

Speaker 3 (12:52):
But the point is this is like we don't know, right,
I feel fun It.

Speaker 1 (12:56):
Doesn't drink of water kind of help that at all?
Like if I took a swing of water, would that
clear some space to speak?

Speaker 4 (13:02):
Really?

Speaker 5 (13:02):
What you want is you want that to evaporate out
of your mouth because there'll be a little bit of
residual alcohol on the shelf.

Speaker 3 (13:09):
Part tender ray is here the Okay, so that that's interesting,
But I still think, so, what do you think she's
really at like a point zero six?

Speaker 2 (13:16):
Possibly?

Speaker 4 (13:17):
No, she's probably most probably a point oh three.

Speaker 5 (13:20):
That's just because again she took a drink, right, so
it was still in her mouth.

Speaker 7 (13:27):
That's also where we have to be careful.

Speaker 4 (13:28):
Is she doing it again?

Speaker 2 (13:29):
Or yeah, we can ever do it again? Sure, don't
you do it again?

Speaker 4 (13:31):
Let's see the water.

Speaker 2 (13:32):
All right, let's see. I'm excited.

Speaker 3 (13:36):
This is important because it's funny you were saying you
were with teachers.

Speaker 1 (13:40):
The part she's retiring at the end of the year. Yeah,
I don't work Fridays anymore. Yeah, all year work Fridays.
She was day drinking.

Speaker 2 (13:51):
She's still point zero.

Speaker 3 (13:54):
Point zero one four points zero one four okay, so
that's more realistic, all right, all right, now let's see.

Speaker 5 (14:01):
That was what one glass of wine in twenty minutes? Yeah,
so it's still working her way through her system and
into her her bloodstream.

Speaker 2 (14:08):
So it could go high.

Speaker 1 (14:09):
All right, let's see pass it on down ash, Okay,
go ahead, let's see what Kevin's got.

Speaker 3 (14:15):
Kevin's gonna blow, and our camera's all twisted up there,
let me see in an angle.

Speaker 2 (14:21):
There we go.

Speaker 4 (14:23):
That's a lovely sound too, Okay.

Speaker 2 (14:25):
Kevin's on big number, what is it? Point two to
three point two three? Okay?

Speaker 5 (14:34):
That was a beer and a half. Yeah, that's about right.
Is it still working through right here at the one?

Speaker 2 (14:40):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (14:40):
I've always been average, all right, so point point two
three and.

Speaker 2 (14:48):
Damn wait, zero two three? Thank you.

Speaker 3 (14:51):
That's what I was just gonna say, because this point
zero eight so point zero two three? Yeah, yeah, yeah, no,
that's okay, Well that's important.

Speaker 1 (14:58):
Ex everage bad at math.

Speaker 3 (14:59):
Yeah, Kevin's already feeling it. I had just somebody sent
this to me today and said, this is a bilified
segment if I've ever heard of one, and I'd like
to play this for you.

Speaker 4 (15:10):
We appreciate you, happity Hurley.

Speaker 3 (15:12):
Let me see if I can get this to I
might have to let it play through and then try
it again.

Speaker 2 (15:16):
But the it is.

Speaker 3 (15:21):
I think this is a medic or no, it's a
sheriff's office, and I don't know where exactly this is,
but we'll try to see if we can get this back.

Speaker 2 (15:29):
Okay, here we go. Because you urinated on a table
while people were eating.

Speaker 4 (15:36):
Yeah, we kind of frown upon that.

Speaker 1 (15:38):
No, I'm this one right. Well, that's what courts for, sir.

Speaker 5 (15:42):
What I need you to do right now is go
ahead and take off your shoes and your.

Speaker 1 (15:45):
Socks for me.

Speaker 4 (15:46):
And I pissed where you pissed on the table while
people were eating.

Speaker 2 (15:51):
No, no, did I do that.

Speaker 4 (15:53):
Unless you have document and information on.

Speaker 2 (15:55):
That, take off the shoes or else, I'm gonna assist you, Paul,
make sure you keep this one more time.

Speaker 1 (16:01):
Being American, that's a cracker right there.

Speaker 9 (16:05):
We appreciate you not using racial terminology, sir.

Speaker 2 (16:08):
That's a Deep South white man can say, what's this
key to you? Sir?

Speaker 4 (16:13):
At your mother's house.

Speaker 5 (16:16):
I'm sure your mother would be very proud to hear
you speak like that.

Speaker 4 (16:19):
Mother loves me. Go ahead and stand up.

Speaker 5 (16:21):
We're gonna step right in here, sir, going right over here.

Speaker 4 (16:24):
Put your arms down, put your hands down by your side.

Speaker 3 (16:28):
Now we do military shirt, yes, I do.

Speaker 1 (16:34):
Really what branch of service were you in?

Speaker 2 (16:36):
Exactly?

Speaker 9 (16:38):
You're being arrested, yes, sir?

Speaker 3 (16:39):
So why oh so the shoes and socks have to
come off because you're going in.

Speaker 2 (16:45):
To jail for that part? Yeah, okay, I thought they
were checking the seats.

Speaker 1 (16:54):
This is the key to your mother's This is.

Speaker 2 (17:00):
How bad is it sometimes with these people?

Speaker 4 (17:02):
Extremely?

Speaker 5 (17:03):
Yeah, it's the old joke, right, you have the right
to remain silent, but you just lack the ability and
people like that. He's he's just gonna run his mouth
the whole time I've had people.

Speaker 1 (17:12):
But that makes it sometimes makes the job fun when
you got those guys that are like, does it though
a set?

Speaker 2 (17:19):
If it's your fourth guy the night, right? You know
what I mean?

Speaker 7 (17:21):
It also depends on your mood.

Speaker 5 (17:22):
Right, We're people, we have lives. There's stress and things
go on. In our lives, and some nights you just
want to get the cup of coffee and coast through
the night and you just hope nothing comes in. And
then you get this guy who's just gonna run his mouth,
and you know, sometimes it's funny. Sometimes you can have
fun with it, but other times it's just frustrating. And
I won't say it too many times, but I think
that's where officers today have it a little bit better

(17:45):
because it's all on camera. Yeah, we used to document
all that stuff, write it all down, say it, and
then six months from now you go in front of
the judge and that guy's all clean cut, he's talking normal.

Speaker 4 (17:54):
There's no evidence of that. It's all on body cam.

Speaker 3 (17:56):
Now.

Speaker 5 (17:57):
All the fun stuff, all the crazy things that you
got cocaine in my console, right, that's all you.

Speaker 1 (18:01):
Want, that couple of guns. But you get Bill leaving
molt Connery's at two in the morning.

Speaker 3 (18:07):
Well, yeah, I have to get home. Uh that's interesting.
Have you had people like that urinating on a table?
Like you stood up and just I don't.

Speaker 5 (18:17):
Think I've ever had anybody urinate on a table. I've
had urinate on themselves.

Speaker 2 (18:21):
Yeah, I mean, you know how.

Speaker 4 (18:23):
It is everybody has to go to the bathrooms. So
when they're in the.

Speaker 3 (18:25):
Well, I wonder too if you get so nervous when
you see the flashing line.

Speaker 4 (18:29):
Well, it's like when you're drinking, right, why don't you
break the seal? You gotta go, you gotta go. And
there'll be people as you're talking and doing everything, they
gotta go.

Speaker 2 (18:36):
I need to go.

Speaker 4 (18:37):
You gotta let me go.

Speaker 6 (18:37):
There's a tree right there, I can go, And it's
like slow down.

Speaker 4 (18:40):
You'll you'll be okay.

Speaker 5 (18:41):
And but yeah, you get a lot of a lot
of people get mad, make a lot of threats, which
never makes it better for them.

Speaker 2 (18:48):
No, of course not.

Speaker 4 (18:49):
You take a little bit of a.

Speaker 5 (18:50):
Grain of salt because they're intoxicated there obviously that's why
you're dealing with them.

Speaker 4 (18:53):
But you'll get people who will take a swing.

Speaker 5 (18:56):
You'll get people who will try to cross the line,
people try to run away.

Speaker 1 (19:00):
You ever have one that just let it all go,
he'd pee pooh, well.

Speaker 4 (19:05):
Over people throw up.

Speaker 5 (19:08):
You know, we were talking about that earlier, about where
you have to sit and watch the person for twenty
minutes because the same reason we just did, right, you
have the alcohol residual in your mouth, So before you
can do the official test, you have to observe them
for twenty minutes with they can't even burn right because
they can't have anything that would come up and bring
that alcohol back up. And I've had it where you're
eighteen minutes and you're just waiting because you're stuck in
there with the smell and everything going on, and.

Speaker 1 (19:30):
You just know something's going to happen. Oh, it comes up.

Speaker 2 (19:36):
In the in the back seat of the car.

Speaker 4 (19:38):
I've had it in the back seat of the car.
I've had in the station.

Speaker 3 (19:40):
How do you get that? Like, you got to get
the smell out. It's like it's like your kid when
your kids would throw up and he couldn't get that
milk smell out. You'd have to practically have a detailed
or a new seats installed or something.

Speaker 2 (19:53):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (19:54):
Yeah, and you know you'll have people who pee themselves
and you're stuck with that smell that's in your car.
So now you got to go clean your car afterwards.
Those are the rough nights.

Speaker 2 (20:02):
Oh yep, man, that does not sound like any fun
at all. Are we seeing it a.

Speaker 3 (20:08):
Decrease in people with dwise because of the awareness and
you know things like this. I also hear that young
people aren't drinking as much. I don't know if that's
true or not.

Speaker 5 (20:18):
But I don't know if young people aren't drinking as much.
I don't hang out with a lot of young people.

Speaker 7 (20:23):
But like we said the other day, I think ride shares.

Speaker 5 (20:25):
Yeah, a big part of people now, the younger generations,
they just know if you're going to go out, they
uber somewhere, the uber there, they uber back. They can
lift whatever. And I do think the education is helping.
And I think the fines right, the cost for an attorney. Oh,
once you go through that one time, I don't think
you ever want to do it again. But there are

(20:46):
there are people who do it a bunch of times.
But I think the prevention, I think the education has
really helped a lot.

Speaker 3 (20:51):
Yeah, because we had the guy who did it T twenty.
He hit twenty. I was going on, I didn't even
know in nineteen seventy four to get one.

Speaker 1 (20:58):
But if you're gonna plaque very five, like like you
get at work, Hey, congratulations.

Speaker 3 (21:02):
On, it's almost like it's te It's funny, but it's
not right because all the time is that nothing happened
that that's great, nothing happened, but boy, you got twenty.

Speaker 1 (21:16):
There probably was fifty.

Speaker 4 (21:18):
Yeah. Yes, let's not forget right. This is fun and
it's a podcast and we're joking.

Speaker 5 (21:23):
But there's plenty over the last twenty years that we've
been to that didn't end well.

Speaker 4 (21:26):
Yeah right, make sure families, well, then you.

Speaker 3 (21:29):
Get people right, and you gotta go tell family. I mean,
I I knew I know somebody that my older boys
played Little League with this uh this guy kids and
he and his wife were divorced, but they would show
up at the games together and all this, and I
would see the guy out and man, he would he

(21:49):
would get himself kind of twisted right. And I even
saw him one night, like on a laying down on
a bench along the canal in Pittsford with some woman
just kind of rubbing in her hands through his hair,
and he's just like, ah, I'll lo and behold. It
was a friend of mine who was a sheriff at
the time. He got arrested. He hit a woman, older lady,

(22:10):
sixty nine years old. She was killed, you know, and
my buddy has to go and inform the family of
what has happened, and they're like Oh, my god.

Speaker 2 (22:19):
I don't think we ever.

Speaker 3 (22:21):
I don't know, and maybe some people do really appreciate what.

Speaker 2 (22:26):
Goes into police work.

Speaker 4 (22:28):
It's a lot.

Speaker 2 (22:29):
I mean, it's a.

Speaker 5 (22:29):
Ton, yeah, and I mean we don't We're not known
to sit and talk about it.

Speaker 2 (22:34):
No, no, and I'm not, but yeah, it is.

Speaker 1 (22:36):
They're like veterans. They don't want to They've seen some shit.
There's some shit they'll share it. No, some that they
just don't want to live. The guy peeing on the table,
that's a story you'll tell. But the lady that died
inn't having to go tell her husband of forty five
years or fifty years and her kids.

Speaker 2 (22:51):
And all that.

Speaker 3 (22:52):
That's I mean, those are the things that I just
don't think we ever think about at all.

Speaker 5 (22:57):
And what I've learned is there's fun stories and then
there's trauma. Yeah, and when I tell you trauma, I
know I'll give you a little bit of that.

Speaker 4 (23:05):
So, oh, I see what you're saying.

Speaker 5 (23:07):
You you didn't live it, you didn't see it. But
sometimes those stories is enough. Oh, and it changes you.

Speaker 4 (23:13):
So that's why a lot of us won't. We won't
share that.

This has been number four that if I crack it,
but I'm going to leave the blow the two shots
and then have a Guinness.

Speaker 2 (25:37):
Oh man, he can't drive. I just heard it. I
didn't you just hear it.

Speaker 1 (25:40):
I got my shirt. I got my shirt on for
the neighborhood.

Speaker 2 (25:42):
To forget us.

Speaker 5 (25:43):
That's the important part there, and especially like we were
talking about for alcohol servers, is did you notice are
you seeing the change if he came in and he
was slurring or had the bloodhot watery eyes, You don't
have that control to go off of, right, Yeah, But
when you saw it without it and now you start
to see.

Speaker 2 (26:00):
It, yeah, that's a clue. Okay, and Ashley, what do you.

Speaker 1 (26:04):
Thing for me?

Speaker 9 (26:05):
Though?

Speaker 1 (26:06):
That's hard to interrupt that.

Speaker 2 (26:07):
No, No, I don't just drunk.

Speaker 1 (26:08):
I don't feel like I'm I know I shouldn't drive
my car, but I don't feel like I couldn't drive
my car, right, you know what I mean? And that
that's probably one of the bigger coachers, right.

Speaker 5 (26:20):
The good part is where you're at now, is you
still kind of go I probably shouldn't drive. It's it's
not smart, right, So you're still at that level where
you're recognizing that in about an hour, that's where you're like, no,
I'm good, I can do.

Speaker 4 (26:34):
It, right.

Speaker 2 (26:36):
What didn Ashley drink? I chip in the mic?

Speaker 8 (26:39):
Two glasses of wine, a shot, a fireball, Oh my god,
and those isn't even halfway.

Speaker 1 (26:45):
So those are big though, those have some percentage. So
if you look at the.

Speaker 8 (26:52):
Yeah, that's not and I know that I cannot.

Speaker 1 (26:54):
Drive right now because really, excuse me, well you can,
you can?

Speaker 3 (27:00):
You can tell Yeah, she seems more sober than he
does to me.

Speaker 2 (27:06):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (27:07):
Well, and that's.

Speaker 2 (27:10):
Huh.

Speaker 1 (27:10):
You've seen me drunk, you haven't seen her drunk?

Speaker 3 (27:12):
Yeah, yeah, but I yeah, okay, well you also man,
you I'm it's impressive what you've been putting in your
body this early on a Sunday.

Speaker 1 (27:24):
Can't start you can't drink all day?

Speaker 3 (27:26):
Yeah, all right, so you want to blow everybody? I
want to seek So okay, So Ashley's all set, she's
all fired up.

Speaker 2 (27:35):
I'm ready to uh.

Speaker 3 (27:37):
No, she was at point zero one basically last time,
and this is twenty minutes later. She's just sitting there
pounding at the uh oh, come on, come.

Speaker 1 (27:48):
On, seven seven seven.

Speaker 7 (27:51):
Point zero four and a half four or five?

Speaker 2 (27:54):
Okay, all right, you're still drive?

Speaker 7 (27:57):
Yeah, that's questionable.

Speaker 5 (28:00):
Remember that's what's in your that's what's coming out of
your breath through your stream. Right, So there's still some
in her stomach that her body hasn't absorbed. So she's
still on the way up. Okay, So I she stopped
and we did it again. In twenty minutes, it would
be higher.

Speaker 3 (28:11):
It would be then point zero four to five, okay,
point zero four to five. Let's see what Big Doug
Kevin's at. I can't wait for this one.

Speaker 4 (28:20):
Just wait till it tells you.

Speaker 2 (28:21):
Kevin's got the the gun.

Speaker 3 (28:24):
Remember outdoor drinking season, people like to get on their boat,
people like to places.

Speaker 2 (28:28):
Here goes Kevin. He's right on the camera, ready to blow.
Here he goes there.

Speaker 4 (28:33):
It is a lot of saliva in that one. Ooh
did you hear it?

Speaker 2 (28:36):
Yeah? I did. God, you need rubber gloves.

Speaker 1 (28:42):
I can still drive.

Speaker 2 (28:43):
What do you got?

Speaker 1 (28:43):
Point five to one zero five?

Speaker 2 (28:45):
One zero five to one? Okay, he's on the way, but.

Speaker 1 (28:48):
I'm definitely on. I doubled my scar from last time
she did not Yeah.

Speaker 4 (28:54):
And you went up more than yeah she did. She
was a point zero one, nine point zero four.

Speaker 2 (28:58):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (28:59):
Yeah, you wanna get going, buddy, You better gets accepted.

Speaker 2 (29:04):
It's okay, this is.

Speaker 1 (29:06):
It's not even been now, well what do we well? Well, like,
I don't know when you got here?

Speaker 2 (29:13):
Yeah, twenty forty.

Speaker 3 (29:15):
Yeah, we've done two fifty twenty minute segments and then
probably ten minutes in between each one.

Speaker 2 (29:20):
So yeah, that's pretty good. Don's not bad at all,
hammering away, that's it.

Speaker 1 (29:26):
I'm trying.

Speaker 3 (29:27):
That's where like, uh, you know, sometimes I always worry
that I think I'm fine and I'm not, and someone
will say, hey, remember that, and I'll go, I don't.

Speaker 4 (29:38):
And that's where it's dangerous, is when you don't remember.

Speaker 2 (29:40):
Yeah exactly.

Speaker 4 (29:42):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (29:42):
There's a new game show that's coming, and I'm trying
to see if I can find I love this.

Speaker 2 (29:48):
I tried, I love this. It's being pitched and such.

Speaker 1 (29:52):
It's such a bribe bullshit thing with everything that's going on.

Speaker 2 (29:57):
It's I thought I thought that the.

Speaker 3 (30:01):
Let's see, I don't know where Jamison had this, so
I have to try to look for it. But the
Trump administration is being pitched a reality show to stay
in America.

Speaker 1 (30:17):
Basically, if you win, you get on the steps of something.
I think it's steps to the Capitol or something. You
get to be given citizenship.

Speaker 3 (30:28):
Yes, fantastic to stay in America. Hang on one second.
I asked him to pull this up, and he had it.
I don't know where I went. Ummm, let's see, because
I would like to play the audio of this.

Speaker 2 (30:45):
Let's see if that's again.

Speaker 3 (30:48):
We'll skip the the ad when the moon and we'll
get the But what would be on it on a
test like this?

Speaker 1 (30:57):
I what I From what I understand, they were gonna
go to various places around America that were like historical
type things and do challenges. Yeah, almost like a survivor Okay,
oh so almost like like you go to like the
High Falls and then you have to walk across a
tight rope or whatever. You know, probably not something like
that like the Lendos, but something challenge wise like that

(31:20):
that would have to tie in with high Falls, or
you go to the Grand Canyon and you gotta do
whatever in the Grand Canyon kind of scenario.

Speaker 3 (31:28):
Okay, it was interesting. Yeah, it is interesting. I'm not
sure that I think it's causing an uproar with some people. Absolutely,
you know that they don't want to I'm sure.

Speaker 1 (31:37):
I'm sure at this point it's the laugh because well,
it's a it's a policy of the project of the Right.

Speaker 2 (31:42):
Yes, this was it's kind of funny. I mean, I
can't gotta admit, I can't find the story.

Speaker 3 (31:49):
I don't know what Davison did have it up, but
I can't seem to pull that up and get everything
to work.

Speaker 1 (31:54):
And we're the ones drinking.

Speaker 3 (31:55):
I know, I know you're the ones drinking, and I haven't.
I didn't even I even behave myself yesterday.

Speaker 4 (32:00):
You got like.

Speaker 2 (32:03):
I Yeah, it is good.

Speaker 3 (32:05):
Yes, it's a really good pre mixed mimosa. Never even
heard of such a thing. We're getting so lazy now
that we can't even mix champagne and orange juice anymore,
or whatever part is.

Speaker 1 (32:14):
They don't have an orange one.

Speaker 3 (32:15):
They have mango pineapple, yeah, well peach, because people probably go, well,
I can make the orange juice myself, I can make
it stronger. I can do this, but I can't get pineapple. Well,
I guess I could couldn't get mangos mango juice. It's
a pain in the assd What am I gonna do
with mango juice? Who drinks mango juice?

Speaker 2 (32:32):
You know what I mean? It's only for a fun
mimosa type thing that that would be. Uh.

Speaker 1 (32:37):
I've had mimosas made by my neighbor over here and
hers are definitely champagne with This is a shi This
is a very I have hedgems.

Speaker 8 (32:48):
I'm saying lighter, lots of champagne. Little bit of strange.

Speaker 2 (32:51):
This is a drinking neighborhood.

Speaker 3 (32:54):
It turned into a radio lastes and I mean this
is like you know, you may if anybody's looking, if
they're not know we.

Speaker 1 (33:00):
Just had a house.

Speaker 3 (33:01):
If you got a rookie cop and he needed him
to get some d W I experience, we walked.

Speaker 8 (33:06):
We walked to our houses we.

Speaker 1 (33:08):
Just had and we've got one more that's probably gonna
be on the market. I wouldn't be surprised by the
end of the year. So if you want a good
drinking neighborhood, we have a good time.

Speaker 4 (33:21):
But in a safe Yes that's real estate sign.

Speaker 3 (33:25):
Yeah, but drinking neighborhood it's on the real estate. But
what happens if, like, can I get a d W
if I were on my kid's scooter or a bicycle motorized, Well, no,
pedals can't, but motorized I can. So people have gotten
them on lawnmowers and a motorized scooter. I saw a
guy ride and then he got pull over. He's on

(33:46):
the sidewalk and he was drinking.

Speaker 2 (33:47):
I believe that.

Speaker 1 (33:48):
Yeah, all I know is last night I saw two
neighbors walk across the street. One went to the white
house and one went to the Yellow house. And they
both lived in the tannhouse.

Speaker 8 (33:55):
That is not true.

Speaker 2 (34:01):
Were they going to fight? They were both going home,
not together.

Speaker 1 (34:06):
They were supposed to be together.

Speaker 2 (34:09):
Wow, there's a whole lot of drinking. One.

Speaker 1 (34:11):
I love my neighbors. I love all my neighbors.

Speaker 2 (34:14):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (34:14):
Everyone, As they're sitting here staring at him, I.

Speaker 3 (34:17):
Just want you to say that that's the alcohol speaking
that we know.

Speaker 1 (34:19):
I know, and for one time it was not, as
you call me the bully of the neighborhood. It was
not my fault.

SO i appreciate.

Speaker 1 (38:16):

Speaker 4 (38:17):
Certified, yes, Sir so you took it as the taser.

Speaker 2 (38:20):
Instructors how did? That how did?

Speaker 3 (38:22):
THAT i?

Speaker 1 (38:23):
Take it?

Speaker 4 (38:25):
Sucks it. Sucks it's.

Speaker 1 (38:27):
Uh can we do A Labor day show where you taste?

Speaker 2 (38:29):
Bill?

Speaker 1 (38:30):
Oh, god Take Labor day for drink and?

Speaker 3 (38:35):
Tasing is that the two things of the prongs that
like come out on the string and go in your
back or?

Speaker 4 (38:39):
Whatever and Basically.

Speaker 1 (38:41):
Race says he'll be. Tasted what is the ship where
we see? It SO i saw some big early dude get. Tasted,
right they hit him in the. Chest he rips the
things out and keeps going at the. Cops then they
hit him again and that time he goes.

Speaker 2 (38:52):
Down but it took.

Speaker 7 (38:53):
Too so what it does is.

Speaker 5 (38:54):
It it incapacitates your, muscule your muscles, right AS i,
say your muscular. System so it all depends on where
you hit. Right if you if you get in the,
spread so the bigger the. Spread if you get someone
in the back and in the back of the, leg,
right that's going to spread farther and it's going to
lock everything. Up it's not like you see ON tv
where people pass.

Speaker 4 (39:12):
OUT i don't love telling.

Speaker 1 (39:13):
People that you're you're an instructor, though but you is
there is there a spot you aim, for like or
as a, cop do you like aim for the deck?
Ken you?

Speaker 2 (39:24):
Cannot can you for the a a little meteor and you.

Speaker 5 (39:29):
Want to hit a big, muscle so the, back the lower,
leg the thigh somewhere in. There and LIKE i, said
you want the, spread so you want the back to
lock up and the legs and that's what's.

Speaker 4 (39:39):
Going to make the person go to the.

Speaker 3 (39:40):
Ground and this is all an Electrical does anybody ever
have a heart attack or anything as a?

Speaker 4 (39:45):
Result so.

Speaker 7 (39:48):
They, can but it's not technically from the.

Speaker 5 (39:51):
Tasing it's from the excitement because most times y.

Speaker 7 (40:00):
The body's distressed the excited heart.

Speaker 5 (40:03):
Rate you, know the impact of, that but it's also the,
chase the you, know police running after. You it's all of,
that the, factors and the actual electric charge won't cause your.

Speaker 1 (40:12):
Heart that would be the worst cop BECAUSE i would
aim for the dick and be, like.

Speaker 2 (40:15):
BUT i just.

Speaker 1 (40:15):
Missed why would you shoot for the?

Speaker 2 (40:17):
Dick why?

Speaker 4 (40:18):
Not because he's about a point zero?

Speaker 1 (40:21):
Nine tell me you wouldn't tell me you. WOULDN'T i
don't know THAT i would OR i. Wouldn't LIKE i,
MISSED i was aimed first gut AND i, missed took,
IT i would feel.

Speaker 3 (40:35):
BAD i would rather instead of The i'd rather see
someone get hit the.

Speaker 2 (40:42):
Balls, now that would make me.

Speaker 3 (40:43):
Laugh i'll tell you you're from behind and tag like
right through the taint area and just.

Speaker 2 (40:48):
Tap into the back of your. Balls that's What i'd
like to. Do So i'm not even D WHAT.

Speaker 5 (40:54):
I would tell you is the same as we tell
all of our. People you own all of, it, Right
so whatever you do you're responsible for and that person's.

Speaker 1 (41:02):
Attorney AND i just.

Speaker 2 (41:03):
MISSED i can't you.

Speaker 7 (41:05):
Own all dry but you can still be sued for.

Speaker 2 (41:07):
It you can be sued as an. Individual.

Speaker 3 (41:09):
Absolutely oh for the, gut, now, YEAH i would for
the back the UPPER i wouldn't want to hurt.

Speaker 7 (41:16):
Somebody the word liability is a heavy word for.

Speaker 1 (41:19):
Us, YEAH i gotta be. HONEST i did Hear ray
say he would take a? Tasing why why would you do?

Speaker 2 (41:27):
That you get one in the? CAR i DON'T I
Ken kevin wants.

Speaker 4 (41:32):
To make it take a little more.

Speaker 2 (41:35):
Paperwork has anybody ever caught, fire like history or, no
from the? Taser?

Speaker 7 (41:43):
Yeah so, Yes and there's a there's a there's a.

Speaker 5 (41:46):
CASE i forget where it was In New, york but
a gentleman doused himself with hand sanitizer in the police
station and they didn't realize it and they tased them
and he went right.

Speaker 2 (41:58):
Up but, again who's fall that?

Speaker 5 (42:01):
His, yeah But i'm sure there's attorneys who argued it was,
Theirs and well.

Speaker 1 (42:05):
You put the sanitizer, THERE i, mean why would you put.

Speaker 4 (42:07):
The case up to? See?

Speaker 2 (42:08):
Who?

Speaker 8 (42:11):
Question AND i have a lot to. Stop are you
allowed to taste somebody in the?

Speaker 4 (42:19):
Rain?

Speaker 5 (42:20):
Yeah good? Questions so that that's that's a normal. One
like people are in the pool. There where do you
have to worry about with? Water obviously is if they're
incapacitated and face down you don't want, them but it's
not going to like it doesn't amplify.

Speaker 4 (42:35):
It, now it doesn't do any of.

Speaker 3 (42:36):
That what about when we say non lethal, force right like,
pepper just say.

Speaker 5 (42:41):
It's in your, muscle, yes, right that's where so the
range in your, skin the muscle is what's getting the electric.

Speaker 2 (42:46):
Charge now you were.

Speaker 1 (42:48):
Taste obviously you had to be to be able to teach.
It how how long are you pissed?

Speaker 2 (42:56):
Off?

Speaker 1 (42:56):
For theoretically five?

Speaker 5 (42:57):
Seconds that's how long last one trigger, pulled last five,
Seconds so you get hit with it for five seconds
and then it turns.

Speaker 1 (43:04):
Off i've worked in. Radio the words radio five.

Speaker 7 (43:09):
SECONDS i would tell you is it was five.

Speaker 5 (43:12):
Seconds your whole body locks. Up you can't do, anything
and it felt like it felt like someone was hitting
you with a baseball bat at the.

Speaker 1 (43:21):
Time did you Yourself it's not like you.

Speaker 2 (43:24):
Can't you.

Speaker 5 (43:25):
Can't that's one of The well you probably. Can't how about,
well there's some really cool videos on.

Speaker 4 (43:36):
YouTube why do you want me to?

Speaker 2 (43:38):
Taste why?

Speaker 1 (43:38):
NOT i want to see.

Speaker 8 (43:41):
How many Have it would take two?

Speaker 2 (43:44):
Times you think.

Speaker 1 (43:45):
Because i'm good, Looking Because i'm good, looking big.

Speaker 2 (43:48):
Muscles that's. Interesting what other non lethal. Force do they
use pepper? Spray? Police they.

Speaker 5 (43:58):
Do there's pepper, spray there's pepper, ball which is essentially
a paintball. Gun, yeah and it's it's a little harder
plastic than regular paintball and it cracks and opens up
the powder comes.

Speaker 4 (44:08):
Out and did you have to do? That, yeah we
have to go through everything that we.

Speaker 7 (44:12):
Use except what was the.

Speaker 4 (44:14):
Worst the worst is the, gas THE cs. Gas that's
by far the. Worst.

Speaker 8 (44:20):
Yea what happens with?

Speaker 4 (44:21):
That it's just like the military goes through.

Speaker 5 (44:24):
You you start, coughing you can't, breathe, well you can,
breathe but its not just comes.

Speaker 4 (44:29):
Out your eyes start. Watering, yeah it's you don't function.
Well and when it's, over it's, over but you're a.

Speaker 2 (44:35):
Mess so that one's is it used? Often, no, no
but more for crowd control type.

Speaker 4 (44:42):
Thing, yeah it's.

Speaker 5 (44:42):
Worst case, scenario but because we may at some point
have to do, it and a little bit of sadistic
torture probably in the.

Speaker 4 (44:48):
Academy they make us they, like.

Speaker 2 (44:51):
They, like is there a day where they go all right?
Today is they let you?

Speaker 4 (44:56):
Know they let the anxiety?

Speaker 1 (44:58):
Build how stressful is there opportunities for people to not
show up for, That like do they just know you
got to Show i'm the gotta be a guy that
might not be, like you, know fuck, That i'm not getting.

Speaker 2 (45:09):
Tasted, well you gotta get taste or you're not going
to become a police. Officer and let's get end of.

Speaker 1 (45:13):
That, well you, know you can still be a cop
without having. Taserability you just have to go through.

Speaker 3 (45:18):
It BUT i thought so to give you a, gun
but the tear gas and everything you have to you
don't have to.

Speaker 2 (45:24):
Do you don't have to do, it or you.

Speaker 5 (45:26):
DO i don't think there's really a. Choice it never
really comes. Up it's just kind of, like, hey we're doing, this.

Speaker 4 (45:32):
Here's the, day and you show.

Speaker 1 (45:34):
Up you knew you Got i'm, SAD i don't feel.

Speaker 7 (45:37):
Good you don't push.

Speaker 4 (45:38):
Back you want to Push, no you want the.

Speaker 5 (45:41):
Job so you do whatever they, say, right and it
is good because you, know just like the, taste the
whole point of being tased is so that you know
what that person's going.

Speaker 4 (45:49):
Through and it's like pepper.

Speaker 5 (45:51):
Spray we get pepper, sprayed but a lot of that
is because If kevin's out of control AND i pepper spray.
Him they're still. There it doesn't go away or just
stick to. Him so you're gonna get. It you're going
to get. It we're all going to be experiencing it
a little, bit so you have to know what it
feels like and how to work through.

Speaker 1 (46:05):
It got it picked me, too by the. Way that's.
