catching the season fifteen yards cold. Peyton laid it out,
Rajah reeled it in and the Byson take an early
(00:57):

Speaker 2 (00:58):
Home opener home Sweet Dome.
Speaker 3 (01:03):
What a way to open up the home slate here
in twenty twenty five, and for the twenty seventh straight
time that Bison have won their home opener here. To
start off the home slate in twenty twenty five with
a convincing forty one to fourteen way over southeast Missouri state.
Welcome on into Binson Hotline. Live with you here from
(01:23):
Applebee's just north of the Fargo Dome.
Speaker 2 (01:26):
Stop on over here.
Speaker 3 (01:27):
Don't want to wait in the line getting out of
the dome, Just swing on over to Applebey's. Join us
here for Bison Hotline in the Bar area. Tons of
fun here today as we talked through a win for
NDSU and a move to three and oh on the season.
Andy Rickoff, you're with you, hosting the program as always,
other than last week when Brad Jones are the great
job filling in for me joined. I had three man
(01:47):
band today. First off, Jakekeva, you're with us once again,
did Bison game day, pulling double duty on Bison Hotline again,
watching a certain other team in the Missouri Valley right
now on the computer screen as well. And one Chris
Hanson with me today. Finally back to work. Good to
have you, Hans, going to have you with us.
Speaker 4 (02:04):
Great to be here. The non conference season comes to
an end with the w Yes made it through all
three games, I think without any major injury bug. That's
number one. Number one's win all three year.
Speaker 5 (02:16):
Yes.
Speaker 4 (02:16):
Obviously number two is come out of them healthy end
of the bye week and NDSU mission accomplished, and all
three of those.
Speaker 3 (02:22):
Things mission accomplished in all front, Sirgeain, That's what I
would say on that one forty one to fourteen, Like
we said, the twenty seventh straight home opening win for NDSU.
The last time they lost the home opener they'll go
back to nineteen ninety eight, so it's been quite a while.
And today if folks don't know, this win number two
hundred inside the Fargo Dome today, built in nineteen ninety three,
the two hundredth win for ENDSU inside of the Dome today.
(02:46):
That makes their record all time at home in the
Fargo Doome again since nineteen ninety three, two hundred and
twenty nine, two hundred and twenty nine.
Speaker 6 (02:55):
That's pretty good.
Speaker 2 (02:56):
Holy is that a good win percentage? I'm not good
at math.
Speaker 4 (02:59):
Is that a home you feel?
Speaker 6 (03:00):
Fantage?
Speaker 4 (03:01):
I think that definitely is.
Speaker 3 (03:02):
That includes, by the way, thirty now thirty six wait
now thirty five and five against top ten FCS top
ten ranked teams, thirty five and five, seventy seven and
one now against all FCS non conference teams, with thirty
straight wins over non MVFC team since twenty seventeen. I
(03:23):
get thirty three straight wins over non MVFC team since
twenty seventeen, and they have never in the forgarn Homes history,
lost a non conference regular season game since moving d one.
Speaker 4 (03:37):
Huh, that's a lot to un Yeah, there's been some
years where it's been the Robert Morris. There's been some
years where it's been the Valpo. But there have been
some l.
Speaker 2 (03:45):
Playoff games too, and most of those whereas.
Speaker 4 (03:47):
For the non conference season opener, there's been Eastern Washington,
there was Charleston southerns twenty sixteen.
Speaker 7 (03:53):
There is an overtime game. There is a Cooper Cup
game with Eastern Washington.
Speaker 4 (03:57):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, So I mean it's not like every
one of them is been a cupcake paycheck. Some of
them have been serious ball games.
Speaker 2 (04:03):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (04:03):
You've had a Montana in here before. You've had Montana
stating here in the playoffs as well. Those games have
happened throughout the years. I think of obviously James Madison
in the Dome. They they're the one that that is
the one on that blip of the radar, right, the
one non conference team was a postseason game, which you
got him back for that as well a couple of
years later with destin telbrit in the end zone and
(04:24):
the pick of Destiny. But two hundred wins now two
hundred and twenty nine all time record inside the Forgo Dome.
Speaker 2 (04:29):
Do we do the math on that?
Speaker 6 (04:31):
Is there around ninety percent? Does that sound well?
Speaker 3 (04:33):
Again, I'm not good at maths. A calculator on that
guess to be ninety ish percentw Pretty good is what
I would say. It's not bad, pretty darn tough to
beat ANDYSU gets the win today forty one four team.
You want your thoughts today on the program seven zero
one four seven six sixteen sixty call or text at
that number all of your thoughts today on the program.
(04:55):
I go through those ones. We'll go through our player
of the game, our highlight of the game. We'll go
through the Jiffy lupa Fargo scoreboard. Lots of interesting games
that came down to literally the last play of the
game throughout the FCS. Today we're talking you in D
at Montana. We'll tell you how that one finished, because
it is a doozy. How about USD surviving somehow against
(05:17):
Northern Colorado, who I think messed things up at the
end of that game. They win in overtime. USD does
over Northern Colorado to get their first win of the season,
and a whole host of other games that were pretty close.
I'm pretty competitive in the Missouri Valley Football Conference and
the FCS overall, and then a couple of FBS scorers
that were a mighty interesting, including one that just finished
here at Applebee's north of the Fargo Dome forty four
(05:40):
to forty one Georgia over Tennessee in overtime. A missed
field goal in that game as well. It proves to
be pretty costly for Old Tennessee. But we're here with Andy,
Jake and Chris for the next hour and a half
or more. By the way, if you're here, or if
you're not here yet and you're coming this way, and
if you're not coming this way yet, but we're gonna
convince you here in second because we're gonna tell you
(06:01):
the prizes. These are what we got for you. We've
got some yard signs. We had some T shirts and hoodies.
Those got scooped up. We've got forty ounce Stanley steel tumblers.
Those would be perfect for the tailgate lot come maybe
colder temperatures, want to keep some things warm. It will
be awesome for you great here in the summer and
fall months as well. And we've got two tickets of
the NDSU USD homecoming game two weeks from now. Is
(06:23):
obviously the Bies and going into the bye week next week,
but they will be hosting USD for homecoming, So all
of that here you can sign up in the bar
area we drop for the Stanley Steel tumblers and for
the tickets. At the end of the program today, gentlemen,
I'll just open it up to you before we open
up the phone lines, your first thoughts on on just
this win and through the non conference portion here being
(06:43):
three and oh, Jake.
Speaker 7 (06:44):
You know, I think today we can finally put to
bed the UH and we'll probably get into this quite
a bit as the as the show goes on, the Cole.
Speaker 6 (06:50):
Payton can't throw the rocks, thank you? Yep, that no
thing that was going on.
Speaker 3 (06:54):
Somebody calls them and says that you get hung up
onto Yeah, yeah, I hang up the red depth.
Speaker 2 (07:01):
They all drop button.
Speaker 7 (07:02):
No, I think Cole he was he was on time
with his throws obviously, you know, Simo gave us a
lot of man coverage. And if you're gonna be any season,
run the footballright, we're gonna hanger hat on running the football.
You're gonna get that single coverage on the outside and
Cole Payton to do what we need to do. He
put the ball where it needed to be and I
think what was the nerd stat? I think it was
the most passing yards we've had.
Speaker 3 (07:22):
Yes, So here you go Cole Payton on today's game.
These are Cole Payton's just passing numbers, right. The rushing
is whatever, sixteen of twenty three, so seventy percent completion percentage,
good number. Obviously, three hundred and forty eight yards, four touchdowns,
no interceptions. He is the first quarterback to throw four
touchdowns in a game since Cam Miller did it last
(07:45):
year against Missouri State in November. So Cam did that
one last year. How about the three hundred and forty
eight passing yards. He is the first quarterback over three
hundred yards in the game since you had Trey Lance
do it with three hundred and thirteen passing yards in
twenty nineteen. As the last person to go over three hundred,
which means already I'm telling you, Cole Peyton did something
(08:06):
Cam Miller never did. And I love Cam. This is
not a throw Cam Miller shade or anything segment. Okay,
I love Cam Miller, but he never threw for over
three hundred yards today. That happened from Cole Payton with
three forty eight. He finished third today with three hundred
and forty eight. Third most passing yards in a single
game in Bison history, the most passing yards since Steve
(08:27):
Walker threw for four point fifty one at ball State
in two thousand and six.
Speaker 6 (08:31):
We rest our case. That's all I have to say
about that.
Speaker 2 (08:33):
If you call in and say Cole Payton can't throw,
you get hung up on it. I think that's worthy
of it.
Speaker 4 (08:38):
Today I would think so. Yeah, he showed the medal today.
They came out and they were going to attack what
had been advertised as a weak defense. You thought, maybe
they're gonna be able to sling the ball around, and
you saw it with the one play they had miscoverages
crossing route BAM sixty seventy yard touchdown.
Speaker 2 (08:55):
Yep.
Speaker 4 (08:56):
So their defense I think was right for the picking.
I don't want to say they just went away from
the running game, but it seemed like that was obviously
gonna be the game playing today was we're gonna throw
the ball and for Ndysu to throw. Yeah, you had
a couple of big ones in there. Twenty three throws
is a pretty day. But I'm for Nbasu if you
get above twenty it seems like you threw the ball.
Speaker 2 (09:14):
Four play the last couple of series any exactly.
Speaker 4 (09:17):
And didn't play much of the four. So well done
there today. The defense, other than you know, the one
big play they give up then after that settling down
only giving up one more score through the rest of
the game. They definitely took care of business.
Speaker 3 (09:28):
Yeah, we'll touch on all those topics today, but I
thought we should get those ones out of the way
right off the jump. By the way, Cole Payton also
ran for fifty three yards, so that would be over.
Speaker 2 (09:37):
Four hundred yards of total offense.
Speaker 3 (09:39):
Four to oh one total yards today for Cole Peyton
had a pretty good day at the office for Oll
number nine. Okay, we said we had the phone lines
open for you. Our first phone call is lined up
here the icon giving us a call here on Bison
Hotline icon. You're here with us on the show. What
do you want to talk about?
Speaker 8 (09:55):
Well, hey, gentlemen, it's great to be back.
Speaker 6 (09:57):
How are you guys doing well?
Speaker 4 (09:59):
Fantastic?
Speaker 2 (10:00):
We won forty one fourteen. I'm doing well well.
Speaker 8 (10:03):
I'll tell you what. First off, not only can Cole
Peyton throw the ball, if we were to go to war,
I'd put him in charge of missile command. Gentlemen.
Speaker 2 (10:13):
Yes, he had some spirals out there today. Icon.
Speaker 8 (10:17):
Yeah, here's my question. And this was the I guess
this was your carrier of the game. Now, I was
watching that on replay and I was on that side
of the field. He clearly did not step out of bounds,
even though they said that he did. Why did we
not call for replay?
Speaker 9 (10:37):
And they were more worried about getting the clock we
set and we ended up getting a delayed game penalty.
Cad you guys talk about that, and also the fact
that und lost by one point and uh, you know,
it's a couple of ways away yet, but sees I
was health to Gooch to stay lost all their players
(10:58):
when their coaches left. I think we're gonna role to
an undefeated regular season.
Speaker 8 (11:04):
Oh hang up, unless you.
Speaker 10 (11:05):
Guys response, Thanks, thank you.
Speaker 3 (11:08):
Undefeatetered regular season. Sounds pretty good to everybody at this table.
Long ways to go for that. Obviously you got three though,
three down, a few more of them to go. Valley
plays still on the horizon in one more non conference
game with Saint Thomas, also at the end of the season. Yeah,
the DJ Scott play he's talking about there late where
they called him out at the three. Look close like
he was near the sideline. I don't think the heel
(11:29):
came down, so I don't think he was out of bounds.
One of those where probably think around the three, we're
gonna punch it in. Anyways, maybe you don't challenge it,
and unfortunately then you get the delay of game and
then the sack, but they still be able to punch
it into the en zone.
Speaker 4 (11:40):
Anyways, Well, what you should have done is you just
called the timeout, because the timeout kind of solves every time.
Speaker 3 (11:46):
I think they were thinking like, do we challenge do
we not? And all of a sudden, now we're asking
for the clock to get said, it wasn't gonna get reset.
Speaker 4 (11:51):
The time out, the timeout is irrelevant.
Speaker 2 (11:53):
Use it.
Speaker 4 (11:54):
At that point, I'm with you, don't take the extra
five yards. I realize everyone's got their hands up. They're
trying to you know, like, could you reset They're not
going to call time out. Yeah, you're right there complaining
about the play call. Just call the time out before
it hit zero.
Speaker 3 (12:07):
People, Drowan did reset it with like five second stuff. Okay,
but it gets onto three, they're clearly going to reset
it now called the timeout.
Speaker 4 (12:12):
If they realized that it didn't get reset, they will
give you the time out back and they'll put it
at twenty five. So calling time out is the only
way to avoid all of that commotion, right, and you
probably get a replay, and you probably get a replay
because it's a little extra time now. The first half,
I like the timeout that he called just to say
something to the officials on a horrible pass interference call.
I love that time. I wish there'd have been another
(12:33):
one taken and that spot didn't matter. They score anyway
on a pass play from sixteen yards, but still call
timeout and all of that is negated. You one timeout
blankets all of it.
Speaker 7 (12:43):
Yeah, I thought the reffing performance was a little spot.
I think back. Obviously he did not step out of bounds.
And then in the fourth quarter, Rajan Nelson got targeted
on that pass over the medal well, I watched that
over like two times. I mean it was hel much
to how much contact? Why are we like we're talking about,
you know, player safety, player safety?
Speaker 2 (12:59):
I had a flag on it, right, was it called passengers?
Speaker 6 (13:01):
Noboe?
Speaker 7 (13:01):
It was a third down okay, this is the one
in the fourth gotcha?
Speaker 2 (13:05):
Okay?
Speaker 7 (13:05):
But he it was the one over the middle. He
had it got targeted. We didn't review it. I'm like,
why does that.
Speaker 6 (13:11):
Not get reviewed?
Speaker 2 (13:12):
Now that can't be challenged. That's more of a than
you go to the review.
Speaker 7 (13:15):
The flag that got thrown on, the reference into the
way camera guy, and then the pass interference that was
nowhere to be found.
Speaker 6 (13:23):
It was an interesting day for the refs. They're still
getting their bearings too.
Speaker 2 (13:26):
It's week three, yeah, you know, up and down, and
at the end of the day's still forty one to fourteen.
So we'll take that one that win overall.
Speaker 3 (13:32):
Thanks for the call, though Icon against seven zero one

Speaker 3 (18:03):
Shotgup the left wut Stannards forward gives to the high
stat four mat Rush loads up, throws it downfield left side,
caught by Lance stay the sideline inside the cebo forty
Bryce Lance with another long ball and it was placed
perfectly by Peyton down to the thirty eight yard line.
Speaker 4 (18:22):
Forty eight yard game.
Speaker 3 (18:24):
First down in the su and that play was a
very common theme, especially of half number one Bryce Lance
making some big big plays throughout the game. Have a
feeling he might pop back up during our.
Speaker 2 (18:38):
Highlight of the game later Shadow.
Speaker 3 (18:40):
For Shadow, we need a little tease to keep people
in tune here at Applebee's just north of the Fargo Dome.
Here with you on bines and hotline. Bryce Lance. We
went through the cool Peyton stats in the first segment.
How he's the first quarterback over three hundred passing yard
since Trey Lance. He's got the third most in a
single game in Bison history. How about we go on
(19:01):
the Bryce Lance out of this today. Bryce Lance his
numbers to being pretty quiet in the first two games,
at least to his standards, right, not getting in the
end zone. Four receptions, one fifty nine and a touchdown.
It's an average of thirty nine point eight yards per catch.
I was targeted eight times and up one drop in
there for being honest, but that was a new career
(19:21):
high in a single game for Bryce. Already, he is
the first Bison receiver over one hundred and fifty or
between one hundred and fifty to one hundred ninety nine yards,
but over one hundred and fifty really since Zach Mathis
in twenty twenty three against Missouri State. I was on
the silence for that game, and a couple of one
handed catches Zack did in that game and Treel Owens
was on the side also, remember that was point we
(19:42):
had him on the air. We got an interview with
Terrell Owens in that game. But the first guy over
one hundred and fifty receiving yards in the game since
Zach Mathis. He also ends up with the fourth most
receiving yards in the single game in the D one
era for NDSU number five. Pretty special and showed it
today with that catch. But also so of course the
big touchdown. He just outran everybody.
Speaker 6 (20:03):
Yeah, it was cool to see.
Speaker 7 (20:04):
I mean, obviously someone picked Bryce to be his performance,
but no good to see.
Speaker 3 (20:11):
That was a good battle early on between Bryce and
Barrika for my player, and then Bryce just took over.
Speaker 6 (20:15):
But it was just good to see.
Speaker 7 (20:16):
You know, we know what Bryce is capable of, capable
of to see him, you know, get involved in that
offense and for Cole Payton to get him give him
the ball and start kind of building that chemistry between
Cole and Bryce that we know that obviously Cam and
Bryce had last year, but just for Cole Peyton to
start becoming more comfortable and Bryce to become comfortable with
Cole throwing him the ball.
Speaker 4 (20:32):
And it's always difficult I imagine when you are the
key player. I mean, he is the most dangerous no
offense to anyone else, the most dangerous offensive weapon in
NDSU has at one one point, right, So you're constantly
battling against their game planning to shut you down, right,
So when you can do it, when that's happening, that's
even more amazing. So to have the kind of game
(20:54):
that he had today of not a lot of reps,
but boy, everyone he got he made, he made use
of it out.
Speaker 3 (21:00):
I will say NDSU, I think Simo was kind of
trying to stop the running attack. That's what they came
in saying, we're already giving up at two hundred and thirteen.
I think it was yards per game on the ground.
NDSU will run it. We're gonna have to commit some
numbers up there. Didn't really work, as NDSU still in
for two hundred and fourteen, but that allowed more single
high safety, allowed more one on one looks for Bryce,
(21:21):
and that's complimentary football. When your running game is as
dominant as it is, they're going to get one on
one matchup se receivers, and then the receivers are as
dominant as they are as well, and there's that balance
you have on offense right now, you.
Speaker 4 (21:31):
Talk about the two hundred win inside the Fargo Dome today,
in two hundred and twenty nine all time at home,
there have been two hundred and twenty nine teams who
have came into the Fargo Doom and said we're going
to stop their running game.
Speaker 2 (21:43):
Right like that seven that have done it. Probably that
is right.
Speaker 4 (21:46):
That is the battle cry for everyone who plays NDSU,
because that is the number one thing you think of,
and it's easier said than done. And today's teams, unlike
teams twenty years ago, twenty five years ago, thirty years ago,
today's teams will take the top off and they will
wrote down the field on you. And that's how they
won the game today.
Speaker 3 (22:03):
And we were talking about this before the show today
before Bison Hotline, and I heard Sam, Phil and Noah
on the network pre a post game also talking about
how it didn't feel like the most dominant offensive line day,
like maybe this didn't play super crisp up front and
the running game and two to fourteen yards, so like
that was a just kind.
Speaker 2 (22:21):
Of an okay game.
Speaker 7 (22:22):
Yeah, I guess just the way I looked at as
like some of the when we're running like inside outside
zone with Barrika, Simo was able to get penetration. With
that being said, they were playing one high defense. They
had you know, six, seven, eight guys in the box.
Speaker 2 (22:34):
And Brika was breaking some tackles for sure.
Speaker 7 (22:36):
And I mean, Simo, they came in like Chris just said,
we're gonna stop their own and doing that, you know
with our receiver crew this year.
Speaker 6 (22:43):
I mean, if you're gonna commit that many guys.
Speaker 4 (22:45):
To the box, you're gonna get toasted.
Speaker 7 (22:46):
I was telling Giddy that, Noah Gender if this on
the sideline, if Nycu wanted to, they could have thrown
a fade ball the Brice Lands every single play. There
was not one play where Simo had a safety over
the top of them. And did we need to do
that today? Probably not, wouldn't have made a difference, but
they could have if we wanted to.
Speaker 3 (23:00):
By the way, Barrika fourteen carries eighty four yards average
a six per carry, So pretty good day in the
ground there for Barrika was my player watch. I get
that on the record here too. They've both had good,
good picks today, good picks even though he didn't take
We never take the court of that's too obvious, right
and Cole Payton clearly is the guy who was the
best among them today for NDYSUE, he had eleven carries
for fifty three yards and a touchdown to Cole Payton.
DJ Scott three carries forty four yards, and we had
(23:23):
to La Grant get in there as well. Courtes La
Grant one carry and twenty two yards. Three carries from
Money Mitchell, two carries for Owen. Johnson went also for
Ronja and Nelson didn't go for munch. I was a
negative two yards, but we saw that a lot in
Fall Camp Raja in the backfield getting some hand off
and stuff. Wouldn't be surprised if we've see more of
that as this year goes on again. NDSU gets the
win forty one to fourteen over Southeast Missouri State. They
(23:46):
take down the red Hawks, not the foregum moorehead red Hawks.
The Southeast Missouri.
Speaker 6 (23:50):
State was Chris Cols on the sideline today madeath over there.
Speaker 3 (23:54):
Did I think they got a pretty important game themselves
coming up there at some point? Yes, forty one fourteen,
the fine NDSU gets the win. Let's go back to
the phone lines here quick, mac Mark rather sorry Mark,
Mark in America giving us a call, and just how
crazy you give us a call the same week that
Chris Hansen is here with us on Bison hotline.
Speaker 2 (24:12):
Mark, how you doing?
Speaker 10 (24:15):
Wait, I've heard that name before. It's it's like a
strange voice that I'm that I've been hearing over the
radio for the last ten minutes. But mister Hanson, glad
to have you back. You know, I love you, Bud.
Speaker 4 (24:29):
I'm here. I'm here, guys.
Speaker 10 (24:32):
Oh, I know, I know. Hey, uh guys, A couple
of different couple different points, So don't cut me off
too quick. Andy one. The offensive line scared me a
little bit. There was a lot of pressure on coal
number two. The defensive backs. Yes, in the first half.
(24:56):
They shut it down the second half, but the first
half there was a little little bit of play. And
then I'm just glad that mister Hanson's back from his
two game suspension because of apparently something he said that
violated violated STC rules.
Speaker 2 (25:15):
Thank you, Mark, I appreciate the call. He was out
for targeting target.
Speaker 4 (25:19):
Of two game suspensions tame for broadcasters.
Speaker 2 (25:22):
I think he speared the SDSU broadcaster.
Speaker 4 (25:24):
Exactly what you had already said, is that six seven
guys at the line at all times, and so yes,
if you are going to be rushing the quarterback there
are five offensive linemen. Yes, you do have usually a
tight end in there in a full back, they're gonna
get through. It's not like he was running for his life.
But I get what he's saying is that, yeah, there
was a little bit. There was an amount of pressure
that was on cold today, which then makes his performance
(25:46):
that much more.
Speaker 2 (25:47):
Like wow, okay, so the pressure in his face, around
his feet, on the legs.
Speaker 7 (25:50):
Yeah, And that's one thing Andy and I were talking
about on the pregame show. This was the first time
our younger offensive lineman have seen that odd front.
Speaker 2 (25:57):
It's a three down front. I don't know where that
extra blitz to rush exactly.
Speaker 7 (26:01):
And you know we mentioned Star Wars and like, there's
gonna be a lot of pressure and stuff shifting moving
around and Siemo's doing that because they're undersized. They need
to do that to create negative plays to hopefully say
in a game like this, which they didn't, but that
it was a test for our young offensive vinman, how
are you going to deal with that? You don't see
a whole lot of three down fronts of the Missouri Valley,
it's gonna be a lot of four down just base
defense like NDSU plays. So I think they didn't do
(26:25):
They didn't get an A plus with it. Absolutely, offensive
line needs to be better. Coach at Chimura yep Chewi. Yeah,
he's they're gonna fix that up. But there's a lot
of growth that needs to happen from right now and
the end of the season in our line.
Speaker 3 (26:38):
Also, coach Schimura took part in the Bison Softball hit
a thon today raising money for their nil and I.
Speaker 2 (26:44):
Was told, I can hit a softball behind the ball.
Speaker 3 (26:49):
He's a bigger guy right the swings it can go.
So maybe we have that in the repertoire if needed
done road But yeah, I would agree. We talked about
the odd man front right three down and they brought
five times. They it wasn't just bringing four. They did
bring five and that was something for a young offensive line.
Still kind of getting some continuity. And then also I'll
throw in this seem although undersized, I think heads and
(27:12):
tails better than the other defensive lines we have seen.
We got accustomed to the first two, Like how could
Cole Payton get touched. I mean, well, yeah against those guy,
he's never going to This is a team that won
their conference last year, has been in the playoffs, like
they were gonna get a little bit of pressure.
Speaker 4 (27:25):
This team is a you and I. This team to
me was Illinois State, right Like they showed that. Yeah,
there's a reason why they are good, and they are
good at things. Their quarterback is a very capable passer. Uh,
and so they showed today why they you know, have
been in the playoffs in the past. They have a
very good program, but they kind of do a lot
of that fill in juco transfer kind of stuff. You know,
(27:47):
so they're gonna go up and down a little bit.
But you saw the things that were there that you
could imagine, Oh, I guess this team is pretty good.
The other two teams that we had played in the
non con are not conference winners right there, bottom half
of their conference.
Speaker 3 (28:01):
And so they had some playmakers. They had some I
mean a big quarterback, right if coach it's been there
for twelve years, a lot of returners.
Speaker 2 (28:07):
It looked like a team like that.
Speaker 4 (28:08):
Absolutely, it looked it looked it looked like football. It
looked like real footballs.
Speaker 2 (28:12):
You're right, absolutely.
Speaker 4 (28:13):
Yeah, it was the real thing.
Speaker 2 (28:14):
Today.
Speaker 3 (28:14):
They we said the first two weeks are not a reality, right,
Like they were a little bit of abnormal the way
those ones and.
Speaker 4 (28:19):
You still almost win by thirty one points exactly.
Speaker 7 (28:21):
Almost those first two weeks were on like our victory
lap from the national Championship.
Speaker 6 (28:25):
We're gonna go to Charleston, We're gonna go to Nashville.
We're gonna give the fans, give the fans.
Speaker 2 (28:29):
At take a trophy around the country. Exactly.
Speaker 3 (28:31):
It was the country wide tour. We do have another
text in here we should make mention of from somebody

Speaker 2 (28:46):

Speaker 1 (33:54):
This is the Northland Vapor and CVD highlight of the game.
Speaker 3 (33:59):
Fall on the left hand as two receivers right lancing conflict,
two tight ends with Barika the running back snapped to
Peyton screen right to lance Lance around perimeter blocking. He's
got the sideline of the thirty five gallants of the
forty five to fifty twenty five forty to the sebout
thirty a foot race inside the tang touchdown. Bryce Lance
(34:19):
turns on the turbo Bosters. They took it all the
way seventy five yards touchdown Bison, the man that defies
mathematics because the angle was had by Simo.
Speaker 2 (34:33):
They had the angle. I swear that. Safety said I
got the angle. I'm chasing them down and Bryce Lance said, no, no,
you do not, not on me, you don't and ran
all the way.
Speaker 3 (34:42):
Career long reception of seventy two yards to the house

for one hundred and fifty nine and that score right
there for Bryce Lance. Are Northern Vapor and CBD. Highlight

(35:03):
short for wander down choices experienced the best at North
and Vapor and CBD. How about that for a highlighting
to me, Jay get brought back flashes of Chris Christian
Watson get the ball in the backfield. There was like
three guys there for him. I don't know how he'd
outrun every one of them around the corner and down
the sideline, but he would.
Speaker 2 (35:20):
And that's what Bryce did.
Speaker 7 (35:21):
I thought that was really obviously we know Bryce's body,
control his hands. I've kind of always had a question
about what's his top end speed? What's his top end speed?
When he caught that, I'm like a great block by
he can play Friday Anyways, I'd always kind of thought,
you know, does Bryce have that top end Christian Watson
(35:42):
esque breakaway speed. I think he might have showed a
flash of it today. I don't like, what do you
think Bryce would run at the combine? Is he four
three four four?
Speaker 4 (35:52):
Like?
Speaker 6 (35:52):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (35:53):
Being up four four at all.
Speaker 4 (35:55):
I think if you want to show up as wide receiver,
you gotta go under four to five absolutely, like that's
the that's the minimum, you know entry, and I think
he's definitely gonna be would be below that.
Speaker 6 (36:03):
I was impressed by that.
Speaker 2 (36:04):
Yeau.
Speaker 3 (36:05):
Now, these guys probably weren't the top end athletes ever, right,
I mean good players though it seems a quality team,
But I think if there's NFL scouts are in the
building today and they see him, he just ran past him.
Guys had the angle, they had it, and he just
ran right past him.
Speaker 6 (36:19):
All yeah, I was sitting right there in the corner.
Speaker 7 (36:21):
I definitely was one of those I'm like, oh, okay, Bryce, like, yeah,
I didn't.
Speaker 6 (36:24):
Know you had that, Like, okay, all.
Speaker 4 (36:26):
Right, pop the clutch, put it in fifth.
Speaker 3 (36:27):
Let's go exactly two things. To make mention, I've already
did with one of them, Logan Conklin. Awesome block right there,
young fella getting in Chris Harris down with a foot
injury here out for at least a little bit senior
guys to step up. Logan Conklin absolutely did on that
play with the block a few other players. He had
some nice blocks and also one reception for seven yards
for Logan out there as well, which was in the
first quarter, I believe, Yeah, it.
Speaker 4 (36:48):
Might have been the first drive.
Speaker 3 (36:49):
Yeah, So obviously, I mean, the game's in the balance
and he's not getting any garbage time there. So well
done by Logan Conklin making a spot on the roster
for himself there and carving out a little bit of
a niche. But then also I think a lot of
that speed and we've talked with Bryce he said I
have worked tirelessly on the speed, the jumping kind, those
athletic things. Kramer coach Nap coach Nap Kramer and Applie
the strengthing indistin coach. I think did a number with
(37:11):
this roster in terms of the athletic testing numbers, those
type of speed things.
Speaker 4 (37:16):
It's good to see Bryce do this. As I had
said previously, when you know that you're getting a lot
of times, you always gonna have a safety over the top.
So now it's like, okay, you almost are hoping for
a defensive broken play to get your opportunity, where today
he was given the opportunity and like, just go beat
the defense, just go beat them. There was no broken
(37:36):
play to it. It was you had to beat those
two guys that were there at the ball, which literally
was a four yard pass, and then take it from there.
So that was good to see that. You know, make
yourself available in different opportunities, fifty to fifty balls, crossing
down the middle, hitting on a.
Speaker 3 (37:53):
Deep out, you know, different different credits to Dan Larson
to get the ball in your playmaker's hands.
Speaker 2 (37:57):
That wasn't going to take a deep shot type of it.
Speaker 3 (37:59):
Just hey, we got two guys on the right side,
throw it out to Bryce and basically kind of a
screen almost like play And I mean if your playmaker
can make a play, and he absolutely did.
Speaker 7 (38:07):
Yeah, I will say when we split out and have
Bryce Lance my Kai Collins standing out split out wide,
I mean that's those two athletes Bysically you could look
at You could watch this Florida LSU game and Bryce
and McKay are right there body top wise with anyone
on this field right now.
Speaker 6 (38:23):
That's one thing I comment I've made on the side.
Speaker 7 (38:25):
I'm like, those two are that NYSU hasn't had two
receivers that look like that.
Speaker 2 (38:29):
In a while.
Speaker 4 (38:30):
I also am wondering if you has Raja doubled up
on the arm days, because that dude, like seeing you,
I hadn't been at the first two games, just watching
him on TV looked bigger and then today to see
him on the field, he looked thicker today.
Speaker 3 (38:45):
Like I think part of too is dealing with injuries
that he wants to be as healthy and as as
he can.
Speaker 4 (38:51):
Right he just looked a lot bigger and then you
see him like, oh, he kind of does look a
little bigger.
Speaker 3 (38:55):
This is something I wanted to be kind of bring
up to you. I'm happy you you mentioned that, Chris,
because you guys are teammates. I need Jake's take on this.
I think there's a lot of attention around Bryce rightfully.
So the guy is great and all of his teammates
are happy for him. That's their brother. They want absolutely
the best for him. I'm talking to Raja. There's a
little bit of, hey.
Speaker 6 (39:14):
I'm still here.
Speaker 3 (39:15):
I want to prove I can play at that level too.
You think he's the only one, like there's a friendly
competition between all you teammates, And I think there's absolutely
part of Roger says, hey, don't forget about me over here.
I've been here a while. I know what I'm doing too.
Speaker 7 (39:26):
Yeah, I know and know. He's extremely competitive kid. He
plays with his hard as a sleeve. You see that.
Sometimes it gets a little too much on the field
at times with some of the excessive celebrations. But no,
Raja is extremely competitive, and I think there is a
little bit. You know, obviously, you love your teammate, you
want to see your teammates can see succeed at the
end of the day, but there is a little bit of, hey,
I still can be the guy too. Like, I know
Bryce is great, and Bryce are You're gonna.
Speaker 2 (39:48):
Put double coverage over there and single me up. Okay,
we'll see how that goes, right.
Speaker 7 (39:50):
I do think there probably is a little bit like
Roger's like, hey, you gotta respect what I'm going to
do over here too, And I think that should obviously
bode well for the NBCU offense as the.
Speaker 6 (39:57):
Season goes on.
Speaker 3 (39:58):
He wants to play at that next little the top
with him, very very determined. I want to be at
the next level too, where.
Speaker 4 (40:03):
We do we're talking about wide receivers. It still is
kind of a little mind bloggling to me Raja as
the old guy, it's still a little mind two touchdown
still over here with tr McDonald and I'm like, you know,
like eight passes a game with a lot in contralo.
Speaker 3 (40:17):
Yeah, two hundred yard game back in nineteen ninety nine,
Bryce Lance, by the way, four for one fifty nine
Raja four for forty one. Two touchdowns today for Raji
though Finn Diggins two receptions for thirty one yards and
then a reception apiece for Reese Castle help with the
catch by Reese on the sideline so that will hold
the feet in there on a third and eighteen. That
was a big time played by.
Speaker 4 (40:36):
A Quickenough South Quicken up to the line, Yeah, let's
go go for it.
Speaker 2 (40:40):
Uh Brica with a reception.
Speaker 3 (40:42):
Mackay Jackson, Williams, Logan, Conklin, and DJ Scott all with
receptions today for NDSU. That's sixteen total receptions for the Bison.
Let's go to the phone lines here once again, Less
from Washington calling in with a question. It looks like
on Cole Peyton, le's how you're doing? You're here with
us on BIS hotline.
Speaker 24 (41:00):
Oh, I'm doing fine, Thank you and celebration. I want
to let you know cold Pateon can't throw right hand.
Speaker 3 (41:10):
Okay, we're assuming you don't know. You haven't seen him
throw right handed?
Speaker 2 (41:14):
You don't know that.
Speaker 24 (41:15):
Last Well, that's true. But I knew he was going
to be good, but I didn't know he's going to
be this good.
Speaker 2 (41:22):
No, I were right there with you.
Speaker 3 (41:23):
Less any other comment on it, Nope, but thank you, Yeah,
thanks for calling in.
Speaker 2 (41:28):
We are right there with you.
Speaker 3 (41:29):
And we said going into the show today, I think
cool Peyton proved a lot of people wrong. And this
is a game at home. The first couple have been
on TV one of them over Labor Day weekend. How
many people were watching those games? So their entirety right,
this is the game at home over seventeen thousand people
in the stands as well, banner raising. I think this
was a little bit of Okay, oh he's got can
(41:53):
throw too. Now you s don't think I can throw,
we'll see what happens here. And if you don't think
he could throw anymore, again, we're hanging up on you today.
That was something special. Seventy percent completion percentage over three
hundred yards or a four hundred total yards he accounted for.
That guy is an absolute weapon.
Speaker 4 (42:07):
Now, I will say before we put his jersey up
in the banners up on the rooftops, I will say this.
The problem that we had had with Cole Payton going
into this year was the sample size right right, Like
when we saw him come in bouncing it in front
of people, zinging it five feet over receivers heads. When
he came into the game, it was never like, Okay,
let's see what you got, like let's see the hoes. No,
(42:30):
it was you're running the ball, right. So I think
we we maybe sold him short coming in just be
and rightfully so. I'm sorry, but rightfully so, he had
not shown that he was going to be the capable passer.
Speaker 3 (42:41):
You got to allow people to develop. He's also developed absolutely coaching.
The coaching in there, so he.
Speaker 4 (42:45):
Gets in there. So now you play, you play really
good against a fairly quality opponent. Let's see what November brings.
Speaker 2 (42:52):
Let's see, you know, he keep doing it.
Speaker 4 (42:53):
Let's see what conversation too. Let's see what a road
game Dana J looks like.
Speaker 2 (42:58):
You know, you do it at home or against Yu. Yeah,
you do it at und at SDSU.
Speaker 4 (43:02):
Yeah yeah, I mean we'll still throw flowers that are
out there, and deservedly so today. But at the same time,
there was a reason why people had their doubts right
because they just didn't know to.
Speaker 2 (43:11):
Say he can't do it. No, it's categorically false. Not
we see he can do it.
Speaker 3 (43:15):
Now, can he do it consistently and be that guy
that in one score game on the road against Arrival
it can lead you on a field and have that
just dagger throw and rip your heart out. We'll see
that too as the year goes on, and he'll be
judging on that stuff too. Compared to the standard of
Buyson Football hundred percent one thing I did. Like I know,
they got kind of backed up in the middle of it, though,
But the two minute drive because cam Miller was legendary
(43:39):
at those two minute drives, and I was happy they
had a two minute drive unto that first half and
a little more than two minutes. I think I had
four minutes when they got the ball, but two minutes
right at midfield and they were able to punch that
one in.
Speaker 2 (43:50):
That was good to see.
Speaker 4 (43:51):
You got a little break on the mismanagement by the
defense on the clock there with the calling time out
you wanted to I guess say they're.
Speaker 2 (44:01):
In eighteen, they think, oh, we're gonna get the ball
back and didn't have that.
Speaker 4 (44:04):
Let's get it the halftime. Let's concentrate on what's in
front of us here. Let's stop them here before we
even think about the second half.

Welcome back to Byson Hotline on Bison sixteen sixty and
one oh seven point nine. The fox who stood out
today and made the place necessary to win for the Bison.
Here is the tool performer of the game.
Speaker 3 (48:40):
Six Ben and Mark first quarter fourteen seven Bison thirty
eight CMO own twenty five.
Speaker 2 (48:46):
They need the.
Speaker 3 (48:46):
Thirty three to her receiver Tyler sign Byson Tea's good.
Speaker 2 (48:50):
What's but will one? They'll bring it.
Speaker 3 (48:51):
Mother went back to throwing sacks. We'll end right on
tune back.
Speaker 2 (48:56):
To back thing. Hayes that he's got the sack of
the six.
Speaker 3 (49:00):
Course of cebo three and out here in the first quarter.
Our dri cool performer of the game. We're gonna go
on the defensive side for this one, and obviously tons
of guys whould go on the offensive that we talked
about Cole Payton, he was picked on the network post game.
We've talked about Bryce Lance as well. Cool performer. Though
(49:21):
for us, let's go on the defensive side. About the
play of the freshman linebacker or sophomore linebacker. Pardon me,
Donovan Wooland six tackles, second most on the team, three
of them solo tackles, has two tackles for loss, a
pass breakup, and that sack right there, Number one flying around.
They kind of brought him down from playing most in
(49:42):
that slot, bring him down to the line. They didn't
see him sneak down there perfectly. Time blitz called by
by Grant Dolson and I said it on our halftime show.
He unleashed the weapon that is Donovan Willing. That kid
is gonna be something special on defense.
Speaker 6 (49:56):
Yeah, always gotta keep them in Fargo.
Speaker 2 (49:57):
Yep, that's gonna be the thing. Everyone's gonna talk about it.
Speaker 4 (50:01):
That's the take.
Speaker 3 (50:02):
Sad reality, But man that he is, especially he had
the one headed interception for a pick six last week.
That sack he just he gets off and there's nobody blocking.
He's gonna be there in half a second.
Speaker 2 (50:12):
He is quick. There is some range there as well.
He's gonna be a really special player.
Speaker 7 (50:16):
Like you said, they're the he's that new era of linebacker.
You know, a long, rangy athlete can play in the slot,
can put him down on the line of scrimmage, rush
the passer. Yeah, he's how you want your kids to
look on as a linebacker. Just obviously he's what he's
probably nineteen years old right now. The sky's the limit
for a guy like that, and uh, he's gonna be
one two that you know, the Domino Wollman we see
right now is gonna be a completely different player from
(50:38):
the one we see in you know, late November, early December.
Absolutely the playoffs come on. So looking forward to watching
how he progresses this year under Geo.
Speaker 2 (50:44):
By the way, six foot four two nineteen.
Speaker 4 (50:47):
Yeah, yeah, that's I mean, that's that's your prototypical kind
of safety, right like, and that's that kind of high
briddy like you were just talking about.
Speaker 6 (50:54):
But he is.
Speaker 4 (50:55):
He looks different than anybody who has played linebacker at NBCU.
I think back to like Joe Maye. He doesn't look
like Joe Mays. He doesn't look like you know, Beck,
he doesn't look like these guys. He looks different Cocks. Yeah,
he doesn't. He just has this different look to him.
And you're like, man, he's an athlete, there's no doubt
about it. You can see that in the he had
the sack there, the play right before that, right had
(51:17):
a big play, two big plays back to back.
Speaker 2 (51:19):
You're a heavy hitter, you know it.
Speaker 4 (51:21):
You better make sure you know where he is at
on every offensive snap if you are playing against him.
Speaker 3 (51:27):
So Donovan wollen are Dri Cool performer of the game
DRI now or performed known as the Quarter Refrigeration now
known as DRI. They help athletes succeed behind the scenes,
from the training room to the dining room, from melk
to medicine, ice to ice cream. DRI has been serving Minnesota, Montana,
and the Dakotas for over forty years online at dacreff
dot com. That's d A k r e F dot com.
(51:51):
Donovan Woollen with a big time day to day on
defense Code Green played well. We mentioned this was going
to be a test for them in the secondary, kind
of getting tested in the passing game. Overall, passing great,
I'd say on that test obviously for a series busted
coverage there, big play, can't have that happened. How'd you
think after that play they played in the secondary today,
the first time they've really been testing.
Speaker 4 (52:12):
I was gonna say, I think they played really well.
The only thing that I didn't like was, and this
was again coverages, was it seemed like on some of
those third down and sixes they were able to get
seven eight yards rather softly, and I think that's you know,
dropping back too much exactly. You're following the people who
are out there and when you have somebody who slides underneath,
if the linebackers are already ten yards deep and you
(52:33):
only need six yards, that's gonna happen. That would be
the only thing that I saw today a couple of
different times that it seemed like those catches right in
the middle of the field were a little soft. And
that's you know, again, take a look at it. That schematics,
that's what you're supposed to be doing, you know, and
keeping those guys who are in front of you. But
also that's kind of a situational awareness too.
Speaker 7 (52:53):
And then I think too, I, like you said right away,
got to clean up like that first drive for Seemol.
Speaker 6 (52:58):
We can't have that happen like in a game against
the STSU. You indeed, that could be the difference between winning.
Speaker 4 (53:02):
That's how you lose.
Speaker 6 (53:03):
That's how you lose the game.
Speaker 7 (53:04):
Yeah, But like we were talking about last year when
the secondary was so young, we didn't know it's still
game three. Yeah, there's a lot of like they're going
gonna go into their bye week, so they'll absolutely go
back and break down this film.
Speaker 2 (53:16):
They really haven't had any film to break down because
no one's throwing.
Speaker 6 (53:19):
One's thrown on.
Speaker 7 (53:19):
Sty'll go down, break down this film and kind of
you know, get their bearings as Okay, who are the
twenty twenty five second the secondary for our team this year?
Speaker 6 (53:27):
What do we need to work on? What are we
need to get better on?
Speaker 7 (53:29):
I think having this game where we actually have a
team that's competent and can pass the ball, it's gonna
be good for them to go back, break down that film,
going to the buy we can get better.
Speaker 2 (53:36):
I will say I thought Ryan Jones had a great tackle.
I think it was a third quarter.
Speaker 3 (53:39):
They had a run to the outside and he read
it perfectly, shot through that gap. Solo tackle by himself
and plant thought a year ago, I don't think he
makes that play. Just completely different player right now at
that safety position. So Indisu wins at forty one to fourteen.

We'll get reconnected here on the phone lines in just
a second for you. I do have one more text
(54:21):
here from John and West Fargo. Did NDSU pay Simo
to play here in Fargo. I'm not privy to the
exact contract on that one, John, I can tell you
there's not a home and home here. Typically if there's
a home and home, there's no payment or anything. Simo's
not We're not going to Cape Girardo in twenty six
or twenty seven or twenty eight or twenty nine, so
it's not like a home and homereers. So I'd assumere's
probably a little bit of money thrown their way. But
(54:42):
still it's a good game to get in the Fargo Dome.
You do have a team that won the Ohio Valley
last year.
Speaker 4 (54:48):
Yeah, and it's a team that if you follow FCS football,
you know who they are, Like it's not a unfamiliar
and if you also watched a lot of Last Chance
You in the first season, I remember those players are
like I'm gonna get a scholarship to Simo, Like I'm
going to Semo, like you know. So it's one of
those schools that you have heard of. You couldn't find
it on a map, but that's okay.
Speaker 29 (55:09):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (55:09):
They are definitely a quality team that is coming up
and you're like, oh, this is somebody I've never heard
of it.
Speaker 3 (55:14):
And it's pretty close to Carbondale as Southern Illinois. And
then have the War for the Wheel. It's in that
next week.
Speaker 4 (55:20):
It's in that weird Missouri, Kentucky, Tennessee kind of corner
from you to Triangle.
Speaker 2 (55:25):
Yeah, right down in the exactly.
Speaker 4 (55:27):
Not quite Paduca, not quite uh Nashville, not.
Speaker 6 (55:31):
Quite yet like the Ozarks.
Speaker 4 (55:32):
Is that down there a little bit, a little bit further, Yeah,
but same, Yes, that side of the stone in the
right direction. Yeah, you're in the right right.
Speaker 3 (55:40):
Let drive and you'll hit it. Event How about Mike
and Sioux Fall has given us a call. Mike, you're
here with us on Boyson Hotline. What do you want
to talk about?
Speaker 30 (55:49):
Hey, guys, Well, I'm just glad that mister Hanson decided
to come back to work. I starting to get worried
about him. Uh, A few things as Uh. First of all,
is you know I really enjoyed that U. N. D.
Speaker 23 (56:03):
Game.
Speaker 30 (56:03):
I actually bet him at plus two and the Montana
won by one, so I felt like I won twice
on that bet and that that was the first thing,
and and then I guess just uh, then the other thing.
I just want mister Hanson. I need him to call
his people at ESPN and make sure that STSU game
starts at eleven, because I'm going to why the next day.
(56:26):
And then finally, I just want to comment about the
controversial Was he out of bounds? Was he not out
of bounds? And you know, I know, I know coach
Polisak is a fired up guy, and he's a good
guy and he's fired up, but he's got to keep
his head in the game.
Speaker 5 (56:40):
There.
Speaker 30 (56:40):
There's no reason they're going to reset the play clock.
And if they don't review it and he wants to
get a more time, he has to call a time
out there. I know you guys talked about that earlier,
but I like he had to talk about that a
little bit more because I was actually a little disappointed.
I was screaming from the stands that you need to
take a time out. But with that, I'll hang up
and listen. Take care you go.
Speaker 2 (57:01):
Thank you, Mike.
Speaker 4 (57:01):
I appreciate it.
Speaker 2 (57:02):
First off, hands, can you talk to your ESPN folks?
Speaker 4 (57:05):
Yeah, I'll uh, I happened up. I'm an ESPN subscriber,
so I've got a lot of pull there. I'll see
what I can do about that. At eleven a m K.
Speaker 2 (57:13):
Tweet and take sc top ten.
Speaker 4 (57:14):
I'll make sure. Yeah, I'll make sure we get into that.
And yeah, we did cover the the time out there.
The question I would have for you, Jake, is is
that solely Tim Poulisex call or decision in that scenario?
It's it's it's him and only him, right, Okay, That's
what I wanted to because there's not like somebody else
who's gonna come running in coach. You should take it
that that's him.
Speaker 6 (57:35):
Yeah, it'd be the head coach. I don't know.
Speaker 3 (57:36):
There's some people have like that time out guru, game management.
Speaker 2 (57:44):
Cord or something.
Speaker 6 (57:45):
I think that might hit the nail on the head there.
Speaker 7 (57:48):
It just came down to the emotions kind of got
up and they just kind of lost where they're at
with the time and is it gonna get reset?
Speaker 6 (57:53):
Obviously it didn't get reset.
Speaker 3 (57:55):
And then and like they're also changing package. I think
they're bringing Truman, We're am my onto the the.
Speaker 2 (58:00):
Seconds and I just don't think that's gonna have enough time.
Speaker 7 (58:02):
And like what Chris said is like a timeout, like
the games really doesn't the outcome of the game is
not gonna change here.
Speaker 6 (58:08):
Just take the time out. You're not gonna need that
at the end of the game.
Speaker 4 (58:11):
Right for the situation, I think that that, as we
said earlier, would blanket all of it. Yeah, it kind
of stops all of the bad And.
Speaker 3 (58:18):
They were supposed to reset the clock and didn't. They
probably give you the time out back to It's just
like he was broken down earlier. So we talked about
that one. I'll be interested to see or hear if
maybe that question is thrown coach politics way in the
press conference. Obviously we can't listen to it right now,
but if it is, maybe we'll give you that information
on Bisen sixteen sixty.
Speaker 4 (58:35):
But just like everything else, like he's gonna coach himself on.
Speaker 2 (58:38):
It way, Yeah, he's hard on himself too.
Speaker 4 (58:41):
This one comes up again.
Speaker 6 (58:42):
And he's only a second year head coach.
Speaker 7 (58:44):
Yeah, there's a lot of guys that have been doing
this for a lot longer as the head coach, Like
obviously last year is awesome on the national championship. He's
only what coached in is this game number sixteen of
his head coach, like he's still a young head coach.
Speaker 4 (58:56):
And ultimately when you're the head coach, you don't do
a lot of work during the game, right, Ultimately everyone is, uh,
you've already you know, everyone's coaching what they're doing, and
you're kind of ceo ing the thing. But the one
thing you do kind of have on your clickment this
clock management and the timeout management.
Speaker 2 (59:12):
That's probably when he, I mean wants back.
Speaker 3 (59:14):
You'll watch the Thankfully, it doesn't hurt because NDS still
go on the in zone and they still won forty
one to fourteen, and they're.

ten thirty seven.
Speaker 2 (01:04:21):
To play in the opening app.
Speaker 3 (01:04:24):
Back to back weeks with a touchdown reception for Mackay Collins.
That one from twenty eight yards out was part of
that kind of great end of the first half, something
Cam Miller was so good at last year. Ends of halves,
first half and second half, end of the first half,
end of the game, so good in those late drives.
Good to see the Bison capitalize there at the end
(01:04:45):
as well, and you good to see Mackay Collins get
into the end zone.
Speaker 7 (01:04:48):
Yeah, Like I was saying earlier, just the cast of characters,
like the way McKay and just Bryce look when they're
split out like that's gotta be scary for defenses. And
the middle eight that's a that's a big part of
any football game. It's the last four minutes of the
second order in the first four minutes of the third quarter.
That decides a lot of football games in the sport
of college football. So good to see NSU building off
of the kind of legacy cam Miller left with his
(01:05:09):
two minute heroics.
Speaker 2 (01:05:10):
Right, he was eight for nine last year.
Speaker 4 (01:05:14):
If Keigues wouldn't have lost the coin toss.
Speaker 2 (01:05:19):
Who made that decision? Yeah, Dan, what did he call?
I was walking? Do you know if he called it? Yeah,
he called doesn't get to call.
Speaker 4 (01:05:25):
It, so, yeah, but he didn't flip it the right way. Yeah,
let's put it that way.
Speaker 2 (01:05:29):
He failed way to go hegel h nice job.
Speaker 4 (01:05:32):
Throwing heads up there. But yeah, as far as the
wide receiver room is that we've that's all we've heard him, right,
It's like, oh, the wide receivers, wide receivers, wide receivers,
you can have all the potential in the world, but
you know, getting on the field and proving it, that's
a whole another bit. And so far this year it's
safe to say Bryce Lance was the most underperforming wide
receiver in the first two right, Like, so now you
(01:05:55):
get him today, you only had four catches, though, I'd
like to see him get a little bit more.
Speaker 2 (01:05:58):
Yeah, Bryce, he did drop one. Today's drop on drops.
I secure that stuff for sure. How about Mackay Collins.
Speaker 3 (01:06:07):
The last two weeks, he had two receptions for ninety
six yards and two touchdowns. It's a good efficiency. Don't
need to catch it that often. When I do, big
plays happen. And that's our third receiver.
Speaker 4 (01:06:21):
Wasn't it Ben Ellison that had like eight catches?
Speaker 7 (01:06:24):
It was twenty nineteen. Is like first six catches were
all touchdowns.
Speaker 4 (01:06:29):
Yes, like and he did seriously like a stat line
was like one catch, one touchdown, twelve yards or something
like that.
Speaker 3 (01:06:36):
But it was on the sidelines. Man, he just scores.
He makes a big time plays. Future Hall of Famer,
future NFL. Yeah, we had some Hall of famers here
in the next couple of weeks as well. With the
homecoming and Hall of Fame ceremonies and everything else going on,
can be pretty awesome.
Speaker 2 (01:06:49):
I know.
Speaker 3 (01:06:50):
A shout out to Matt Grotzik got to induct into
his high school Hall of Fame. That's why coach Bull
was kind of in town. I believe he was speaking
at the induction for Matt Grotzik. I thought we were relaying,
so shout.
Speaker 2 (01:07:00):
Out to him. It's being a hall of famers.
Speaker 3 (01:07:01):
There you go here with you on bines and hotline.
Brought to you by Keia of Fargo. We are here
at Applebee's just north of the Fargo numb off Nineteenth
Avenue North in Fargo. We are here for every game
home and away this season. You'll always have a chance
to win some Bison football tickets like you do this
week to the NDSU USD game. We're drawing for those
in about thirty minutes, so put your name in the
(01:07:22):
hat into the drawing if you want that. Also give
away some tumblers, some t shirts, and some sweatshirts from
the Tee Hive. Yard signs were great today, got a
few more of those. If you want a yards on
the put in the yard. We did hear a few
that said they're going to put him in the yards
in East Grand Forks and Grand Forks today.
Speaker 4 (01:07:37):
Good.
Speaker 2 (01:07:37):
That sounds good.
Speaker 3 (01:07:38):
There exactly trying to win hearts and minds, I would
say up there in Grand Forks, North Dakota. But we're
here for you after every single game this season. I
think a look at our jiffy loop of Fargo's scoreboard
here quickly fellas haven't done this yet.
Speaker 2 (01:07:52):
Today.
Speaker 3 (01:07:53):
Let's start off in Missoula, Montana. Maybe the game of
the week and the FCS two top twenty ranked teams
in the country match of last year's game as well
in Grand Forks. Un D traveling out to Missoula to
take on the Grizz and to try and beat them
for the second straight year. They won twenty seven to
twenty four up in the Ali Center a year ago.
After trailing twenty four to seven, they came.
Speaker 2 (01:08:13):
Back and won it.
Speaker 3 (01:08:14):
They had the lead early in this game an eighty
two yard pass from Kaminski to bj Fleming. The extra
point was missed, but then another touchdown pass for U
and D. They were up thirteen to nothing. It was
thirteen to seven then as the Grizz got on the board,
and at the end of the first half it was
un D sixteen to seven. U and D still with
the lead twenty three to fourteen in the fourth quarter
when they got a four yard touchdown pass from Jerry Kaminski,
(01:08:36):
his third of the day, but it was all Grizz
after that. A field goal with four minutes and twenty
three seconds left made twenty three seventeen U and D
up by six. U and D, though would go three
and out on offense. Give it back to the Grizz
who worked the ball down the field and Kialie Ayacht
with a twenty eight yard touchdown pass to Brooks Davis
with a minute seven seconds left gave the Grizz the
(01:08:58):
lead twenty four to twenty three. Controversial no call on
maybe a pass interference at the end when you and
D got the ball back with a minute to go,
But give the Grissome credit. Never say die out there
and wa Griz. They came back. They get to win
twenty four to twenty three and are two to zero.
U and D now one and two, zero to two
on the road to two. Very close, but no cigar
(01:09:18):
road loss.
Speaker 4 (01:09:19):
While you're talking about three minutes away there from you know,
beating k State and then going out and playing in Montana.
Speaker 3 (01:09:26):
A tough placed ball bounce is a different way. They're
three and o with an FBS winning a win at Montana.
Speaker 4 (01:09:30):
Absolutely, we're having a much different discussion about the team
up north.
Speaker 3 (01:09:33):
Yeah, somebody on the pregame show picked them to uh
pick Montana to win and you need to cover the.
Speaker 2 (01:09:40):
Four and a half.
Speaker 6 (01:09:40):
I was a tight you had a tight window there.
Speaker 3 (01:09:42):
Very done, very tight window, but we got that one done.
So Montana gets the win. Big for them. Their defense
really showed up in that second half, only giving up
seven points in the entire second half to un D.
I am still impressed with you and D. Better than
I thought they'd be. First year, new coach, a lot
of new stuff going on that system, defense, completely different
site list than it was last year, and a new quarterback.
(01:10:03):
But Kaminski looks good. He's got three touchdown passes today.
I think close to three hundred yards passing. That's a
team that you know. I think it's going to lengthen
out the depth of the valley. Yeah, you got ND,
s U s D, s U, usd's looking pretty shake
You will get to them in a little bit now,
U n D and Illinois State can maybe be those
next couple of teams along with Southern Illinois.
Speaker 7 (01:10:21):
Yeah, I think coach Schmid's definitely got you and D.
I don't want to say a program on the rise.
They've been solid the last couple of years, but I think,
just like you said, schematically, where their culture is at there,
I think Schmid's doing a good job with that.
Speaker 6 (01:10:34):
Something that is interesting. U and D had this quarterback
last year, right and didn't play them. What are we doing?
Speaker 7 (01:10:40):
Yeah, girlfriends, Rompro is not a vision He's not a
vision one quarterback.
Speaker 6 (01:10:47):
What are you doing at U and D? Last year?
You had this guy sitting there.
Speaker 4 (01:10:49):
And that's where I was transferring. By the way, Yeah,
then I was gonna say the change there. It was
definitely time for a change, just to you know, just vibe. Yeah,
I know, I hate to use that word because it
gets it's a different vibe. When you had Bubba, you
knew the vibe, right, like it was just kind of
what it was. That old school and nothing wrong. You
can do old school. But the thing with if you're
(01:11:10):
gonna do old school, you've got to produce, right, Like, uh,
you have to keep winning, you have to keep it.
And they just really hadn't you know. So good good
for that change to see somebody else like, yeah, let's
let's get it going again. Let's not have thirty point
losses at home the team that you should beat by thirty.
Speaker 3 (01:11:29):
By the way, Kiali a yacht three hundred yards passing
two touchdowns and two interceptions, the quarterback for the grizz
In that game, I think two teams though that still
will be playoff teams and be right through in the
thicket things for the FCS at least this year, I
will say last thing on this game, will move on
to the next one. Close put No Cigar in Manhattan.
Obviously a great team in Kansasate, although they're having some
struggles right now. They lost yesterday as well, they're won
(01:11:49):
in three on the year, and now a close put
No Cigar had it in your hands and somehow it
slipped through against Montana. If the same thing happens against
NDSU up there in Grand Forks this year, if the
same thing happens for them against sd ISSUE or some
other teams this year, you can only say it so
many times right now. First year, they got ways to go,
and I think if you're a U and D supporter,
you're probably saying, like, hey, this for the first year,
(01:12:10):
will take these ones, but at some point you do
have to finish the job, right That's gonna be the
next step.
Speaker 4 (01:12:15):
You know. They talk about learning to win, Yep, they're
almost learning to lose. Yeah, and you don't. You don't
want to learn to lose. You don't want to learn
to lose. You want to learn how to finish those
games and.
Speaker 3 (01:12:24):
To wintely elsewhere in the valley. How about us d's
finish year. They were up early on against Northern Colorado
looking for their first win of the year, USD by
the way, but then in the fourth quarter it really
tightened up. USD was up by three, seventeen to fourteen.
Northern Colorado had the ball and they were driving, got
down to the one yard line with about fifty seconds
(01:12:46):
left in the game. For some reason, USD wasn't using
any of their time outs because I would have assumed
Northern Colorado was going to get in. But Northern Colorado
got stuffed on first and goal from the one, on
second and goal from the one, and on third and
goal got stuffed.
Speaker 2 (01:12:58):
All three didn't score.
Speaker 3 (01:12:59):
And instead of going forth there on fourth and goal
from like the half yard line or wherever it was,
they rushed the kicking unit on and they kick a
field goal from the one yard line eleven yard field
goal that would be, and you end up tying the
game up seventeen seventeen. It goes to ot and USD
gets the win twenty four to seventeen in overtime. For
their first win of the year.
Speaker 10 (01:13:18):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (01:13:18):
I think if you're Northern Colorado and you're saying this
soft air, I mean you're at you're in Vermilion, you're
playing a top USC's guys still be ranked.
Speaker 2 (01:13:25):
Still ranked, yeah, still ranked.
Speaker 6 (01:13:27):
Like, just go for the win.
Speaker 2 (01:13:28):
Yeah, I just I no offense, but your Northern Colorado,
this is a program type of thing like this. We
came here to win. We didn't come here to tie. Nobody,
no one yard.
Speaker 4 (01:13:35):
Nobody's gonna question if you go for it on fourth
down and don't get it, like you weren't supposed to
be in this game anyway. Probably, Yeah, so hey, just say, god,
we got there, we just couldn't get it done. And
that's on you. If you three to four.
Speaker 2 (01:13:47):
If you go again and don't get it, you didn't
get it from the one four times in a row,
then you didn't deserve the win. No, I agree, Yeah,
I would just gone for it.
Speaker 4 (01:13:53):
So no toush push and Northern Colorado is at I
guess opinion is that they.
Speaker 2 (01:13:57):
Must not have any when they're out of the altitude.
Speaker 6 (01:13:59):
They don't want the Philadelphia Eagles, they don't watch NFL
pay Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:14:03):
But also USD they got the win in this one. Again,
not impressive. Its Northern Colorado there. It's not looking not
gonna says Bleak, And I guess they missed the playoffs yet,
but there's gonna be some questions for USDDA sure.
Speaker 7 (01:14:15):
The team that was expected to be right there. In
conversation with NDSU and STSU, they have not started out
to well.
Speaker 2 (01:14:22):
No, they haven't, not so far.
Speaker 3 (01:14:23):
How about Illinois State beats Eastern Illinois today forty two
to thirteen. Winkers right, big day as well. He has
three touchdowns on the ground, fourteen carries ninety four yards,
three scores for the red Birds. They win forty two
to thirty. NDSU will see them for a night game out.
They were normal in a couple of weeks.
Speaker 2 (01:14:40):
They're not. Two and one.
Speaker 3 (01:14:42):
Youngstown State kind of held in there with Michigan State
on in East Lansing. It was just seventeen to to
ten at the end of the first half. Michigan State
kind of ran away fourteen points in the third ten
in the fourth. They win at forty one to twenty four.
But Youngstown State showed a little something in that game.
I thought against the Big ten team. Not an elite
Big ten the team, but a Big ten team.
Speaker 6 (01:15:01):
I think Penguins are gonna be okay this year.
Speaker 7 (01:15:02):
I think, you know, historically Youngstown tough like you know,
it's a steel metal grit.
Speaker 6 (01:15:09):
Yes, greedy, it's a gritty down stadium, ice cast, ice Castle.
Speaker 7 (01:15:14):
But uh I, I just in my heart of hearts,
we want the Missouri Valley to We've been Missouri Valley.
Speaker 6 (01:15:21):
The bottom half has been down the last Oh.
Speaker 7 (01:15:23):
Yeah, we need to get trust, we need to get better. Yes,
and Youngstown State, Southern Illinois, Illinois, like those teams, being
good gives us tougher games, makes our team better, absolutely,
iron Sharpin's.
Speaker 2 (01:15:35):
Iron gives you a better strength of schedule, all those
things too.
Speaker 3 (01:15:38):
One of those teams you're mentioning, Southern Illinois, they have
a lead at the end of the third quarter seventeen
to seven at U Team Martin. So they have the
lead there in that one. DJ Williams four carries fifty
three yards and a touchdown, the quarterback for Southern Illinois
on the ground doing some work there. Murray State at
half is losing to Georgia State twenty three to seven.
Kind of hanging in there with Georgia State. How about
uh the final here for Northern Iowa at home against
(01:16:01):
Eastern Washington. Another valley versus the Big Sky. Who's gonna win?
This one goes to the valley seventeen to fourteen. Northern
Iowa gets the win. Eagles tried to come back their
late scored fourteen points, all fourteen of their points in
the fourth quarter, but you and I gets the win
seventeen fourteen.
Speaker 2 (01:16:16):
There now two to one.
Speaker 3 (01:16:17):
In the first year of the Todd steps this era,
and one of those bottom feeders you were talking about,
Jake from yesterday. Indiana State lost seventy three to nothing
to Indiana seventy try to nothing.
Speaker 2 (01:16:26):
I don't know if they.
Speaker 4 (01:16:27):
Did that really shows almost no try.
Speaker 3 (01:16:31):
Yeah, that might be close to the try lists at
seventy three to nothing. So that problem here though. The
Bison win forty one to fourteen over Southeast Missouri State.
What'll take another break back with the more of this
one and tell you what's next for NDSU, and we
come back here on Bison Hotline.

Time for more reaction from today's game, Jury Gan, it's
your host, Andy Rickoff.
Speaker 3 (01:20:50):
First fifteen Sheepoe twenty snaps the leatherwood sharp play bank
under pressure.
Speaker 2 (01:20:55):
He's coming down this shacked Jackson Dulton Heifer. What the sack?
A loss of ten all the way back to.
Speaker 3 (01:21:07):
The fifteen yard line and Dunton Heffer in the North
Dakota native strikes a call of duty right there, duty
getting in on the shack a sack Jackson Dutanhffer with
a sack there of Jack's Leatherwood, the six eight quarterback
for Sima, who did not finish the game. He was fine,
but I think he just had enough of ending up
(01:21:28):
on his backside a few times.
Speaker 2 (01:21:29):
Had that one right there.
Speaker 6 (01:21:30):
When you rushed, scrambled for that one and jumped for
it and got like some resault.
Speaker 4 (01:21:34):
Yeah, giving up your body there.
Speaker 2 (01:21:37):
He got the first down. And give him credit.
Speaker 4 (01:21:38):
I wouldn't say he's a nimble runner, but boy, he
when he decided I'm gonna run, he took off.
Speaker 6 (01:21:45):
He was a warrior a little bit he took He.
Speaker 3 (01:21:47):
Always looked slow. When you're six s eight, those strides
take a while to come back.
Speaker 4 (01:21:50):
That's exactly right.
Speaker 6 (01:21:51):
Yeah, yeah, he was a solid six eight.
Speaker 2 (01:21:53):
Oh yeah.
Speaker 6 (01:21:53):
He was a big guy.
Speaker 3 (01:21:54):
And there were sometimes they had you had him wrapped up.
But he's able to just still throw the ball like
all of the little Ben Roethlisper actually have him in
the grass, but he can't get him down.
Speaker 2 (01:22:01):
He gets rid of the ball.
Speaker 7 (01:22:02):
He must have had a terrible jump shot in high school.
Probably why is he playing football? Yes, six a right,
there are either no jump shot or no left hand.
Speaker 2 (01:22:10):
It had.
Speaker 3 (01:22:12):
By the way, Jackson Dutonhffer with the sack. The Bison
had four sacks today Donnovan Wooling. We mentioned Jackson Duton
Haffer with one, but Victor Isley with a sack on
a half sack, a piece for Toby Inane and Jay
Keith Alexander combining on one.
Speaker 6 (01:22:25):
Young Vic.
Speaker 2 (01:22:26):
I love that kid. He was a freshman my senior year.
Speaker 6 (01:22:28):
It's good to see him getting the.
Speaker 3 (01:22:29):
Number two in a depth chart right now, right Like,
that's part of the depth m and Jackie Leano and
Celton the Castle and there's some guys starting to make
some impact there.
Speaker 2 (01:22:36):
It's not just Toby. It can't be just Toby on
that line.
Speaker 7 (01:22:39):
And that's the thing about too, is a defensive line.
Like obviously you see the guy who gets all the sack.
To get a sack, it takes all four guys. If
the other three people aren't doing their job. You know,
Toby could have the best pass rush in the world.
If your defensive tackle and end on the other side
aren't doing their job, that qrbacks just gonna step up
in the pocket. So it really is a team thing
to get sacks. And like you said, with building that depth,
getting guys able to you know, fill that role and
(01:23:01):
maybe not get all the sacks, but do their job.
Speaker 6 (01:23:03):
That's gonna help Toby out the long run.
Speaker 3 (01:23:04):
By the way, tackles for loss, half a tackle for
loss for Nathaniel Staling, who led the team with seven
tackles today, two TFLs for Donovan wool and one for
Ryan Jones, two for Jackson Duton have for one for
Toby and Aine Victor Easley with that tackle for loss
on the sack as well, and a half tackle for
loss as well for j Keyes Alexander. And how about
the interception for jakese. I mean that guy's had the ball.
Speaker 2 (01:23:24):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (01:23:25):
I he still got the arm around there and then
he falls down. It rolls across the stomach, but he
squeezes it like that was quite the interception. Nobody thought
he had it until all of sudden he started celebrating.
Speaker 4 (01:23:33):
No, I had thought it was gonna be a catch
and then a fumble, right like the catch took a
couple of steps and dropped it. But no, like obviously
went to review and they came back into the upheld upheld,
So not confirmed because right.
Speaker 2 (01:23:45):
That stands or confirmed and just like we have nothing
to over to, no inclusive.
Speaker 7 (01:23:50):
Evidence upheld and stands must be that's hoagible, maybe not confirmed,
but I think that is the upheld and stands is
that we had nothing to overturn.
Speaker 4 (01:24:00):
We didn't have any video that showed that it wasn't
what we thought it was. No clearing conclusive, Yeah, yeah,
yeah O keywords.
Speaker 2 (01:24:05):
We'd listened to back in the day.
Speaker 3 (01:24:07):
Clearing conclusive evidence byzon Win forty one to fourteen. Here
over simo quickly, let's touch on some other games across
the FCS and even the FBS today as well. Our

(01:24:29):
you can do more in a jiffy. It's one of
the FBS. Here a lost today for Clemson, one of
the top teams had a thirty five percent chance to
win the College Football Championship this year when it started
via ESPN's FPI. Now it's under like a five point
eight percent chance. They lose today twenty four to twenty
one to Georgia Tech on a walk off field goal.
Speaker 2 (01:24:49):
Any thoughts of their.
Speaker 7 (01:24:50):
Fellas, you know, I kind of thought kay Klebnick was
going to have one of those Heisman type years this year.
Just hasn't been playing the best and they're losing to
Troy last week back in one. But you know, acc
is maybe just who's the top dog in the a
SEC right, New Florida State.
Speaker 6 (01:25:06):
Florida State. Yeah, it's Castianos, that quarterback.
Speaker 3 (01:25:09):
He's got some swag, he's got swigging, he's at that
kind of energy, like you want to believe in that guy?
Speaker 2 (01:25:13):
How can you not with what he does? And he
backs up his talk too.
Speaker 4 (01:25:16):
Yeah. And for Clemson, it's one of those things there.
They they don't they're not accustomed to this point being
where they're at at this point of the year, right,
you know, like they're run through kind of get it
done and they're.
Speaker 6 (01:25:28):
Just bumps in the road down.
Speaker 4 (01:25:30):
I don't know, there's nothing flashy about them, right.
Speaker 3 (01:25:32):
Like one and two now lost their marquee chance to
really make a statement. They lost to LSU. Alabama beats
Wisconsin thirty eight to fourteen. So win there for Kaitlyn
to bor they're down two and one. Michigan beats Central
Michigan sixty three to three. Lop sided there. David Brown
in Northwestern were home to day against Oregon. It was
closer than it was from Montana State, but not a
whole lot closer, thirty four to fourteen. The final there,
(01:25:54):
Oregon gets the win. Northwestern now one and two. They
will be hosting UCLA. I think a good chance for
a win there for David browning company, because you Seela
looks real rough. They got boat race Bason X New
Mexico squad man.
Speaker 4 (01:26:07):
When in his favorites and came out looking ridiculous last night.
Speaker 3 (01:26:11):
Yeah, really did some other scores at the FBS level.
We've got a ten to three lead for LSU over
Florida right now with three twenty seven to go in
the second quarter, and we just saw a touchdown here
Gators on the board with a touchdown right there, and
so that over that.
Speaker 2 (01:26:28):
I love them. You can do that to any song.
Can guarantee you. I can do it to any song.
How about a win as well?
Speaker 3 (01:26:35):
We saw this one earlier today that finished up Georgia
over Tennessee in overtime forty four to forty one. A
chance for Tennessee to win it at the end of
regulation with a field goal, it was missed and Georgia
walks off with the win, the sixth to rank Bulldogs
down three and Ozero record.
Speaker 4 (01:26:50):
And Hypel's still with the donut against Georgia.
Speaker 2 (01:26:52):
Still with the donut. Even though game day was there
today too.
Speaker 6 (01:26:55):
Maybe you would have had Nico. They could have pulled
that on off.
Speaker 2 (01:26:57):
Hello talk about yeah them.
Speaker 4 (01:27:00):
Too, watching game day and they're just you know, they
mentioned his name. They show a highlight. It's just overwhelming boom, like,
oh my gosh, yes, I love you.
Speaker 2 (01:27:08):
Hate that quick, you'll build you up to tier.
Speaker 4 (01:27:11):
He did that to himself.
Speaker 2 (01:27:12):
I'll call to himself one hundred percent.
Speaker 3 (01:27:16):
Number eight Notre Dame at home against number sixteen Texas
A and M maybe the marquee game all of the week,
twenty four fourteen. Right now, Notre Dame with the lead,
but A and M is driving on Notre Dame's forty
yard line with seven minutes to go in the second quarter.
Speaker 2 (01:27:28):
In that one. Notre Dame, oh one got to get
that first win. Do you not want to fall the
O and two.
Speaker 3 (01:27:32):
But Texas A and M looking good this year, looking
for their chance to get to three and oh if
they can. It looks like Florida about to tie this up.
Got the touchdown, they can get the extra point and
tied up ten to ten there with LSU down.
Speaker 2 (01:27:44):
In Death Valley.

Ozik will come on to attempty forty three yarder left
half missed from fifty moments ago.
Speaker 2 (01:32:50):
Snap was low spot by Bickerton kick on the.
Speaker 3 (01:32:52):
Way and it is good, Eli Ozick. I'm sowing the
forty three yard field goal and Addison extendedly to two
scores with fourteen twenty three to go in the half
and seventeen to seven and dsu as our special team
special moment of the game. I just made that up
(01:33:13):
on the spot, but good moment right there. I know
missed a field goal earlier that from fifty give them
some grace and then knocks that field goal home. If
you know, somewhat fairly clean operation from special teams these
first three games with a bunch of you know, it's
a new punter.
Speaker 2 (01:33:24):
New kicker in that order.
Speaker 7 (01:33:26):
Yeah, I knew Bickerton is holding I believe on the
place he can as well. And yeah, like we always say,
you don't want to hear about them, because if you're
talking about the kicking game, you're talking to the operations.
Speaker 4 (01:33:35):
Usually not unless you're hitting the game winner or missing
the game winner. That should be about the only time
you ever want to have them be talked.
Speaker 2 (01:33:40):
About, right, Yes, and hopefully it's on the good set.
Speaker 3 (01:33:42):
It's on the good right and maybe once this year
of el aas that gets a chance from like fifty
eight or something, that's that's an NDSU record and that's
a little fun thing to have during this year at
some point as well. Back here with you on Buddies
in hotline as NDS who wins at forty one to fourteen?
Speaker 2 (01:33:56):
I was wrong. We got one more break after this one.
Speaker 3 (01:33:59):
We do have some comments on our Facebook page, what
are your thoughts after this win for NDSU today? How
about this one from Mason Cole Peyton looks sharp today.
He was perfect. Darryl sure didn't expect all all those
passing yards today. A couple of those ones from some
fans out there. Definitely very impressed with the passing attack today.
Speaker 4 (01:34:19):
Yeah, as they should be. And I think a lot
of the other comments were about the uniforms.
Speaker 2 (01:34:23):
Yes, we had some of those as well.
Speaker 4 (01:34:24):
The debut of the the white under armor uniforms. It,
I don't want to say it. It was a nice look.
My main concern was gold has never been gold with NDSU.
Speaker 2 (01:34:39):
It's yellow.
Speaker 4 (01:34:40):
Yeah, let's call it what it is. It's a yellow color, right,
it's call it gold for whatever reason?
Speaker 6 (01:34:45):
No one I were talking about that on the sideline.
Speaker 7 (01:34:46):
So like the song they play like for the green
and the yellow and then ever like the collector or
the it's the green and the golden gold foot what
is it?
Speaker 4 (01:34:54):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (01:34:54):
What are our colors?
Speaker 4 (01:34:56):
Green and gold?
Speaker 6 (01:34:56):
We're green and gold.
Speaker 4 (01:34:57):
But it's never right, It's never been gold. It's not
a Notre Dame goal.
Speaker 6 (01:35:01):
So like the school colors are green and gold?
Speaker 4 (01:35:03):
Correct?
Speaker 6 (01:35:03):
Okay, then why does the song say green and yellow?
Speaker 4 (01:35:06):
Because that's what that's Okay, This is.
Speaker 3 (01:35:09):
Where we couldn't get on the same page. I can
tell you that one I will actually say this. This
is quick facts, sports information, extraordinary game notes. Colors, official
colors of the school Yellow and green PMS one twenty
three and three forty three if you want to look
them up.
Speaker 2 (01:35:26):
Yellow and green. Okay, right there, official school career.
Speaker 6 (01:35:29):
I figure this. This I'm gonna die on.
Speaker 2 (01:35:30):
This is what everyone calls it. Gold right, Yeah, the
gold It's a gold rush.
Speaker 6 (01:35:34):
I'm gonna sit down with Matt Larson. We're gonna we're
gonna figure this out.
Speaker 4 (01:35:37):
I was glad to see my only complaints. And by
the way, I am wearing this is the very first
ever piece of under armour that I have ever purchased
in my life. Yeah, okay, I got myself right, a
new white polo for the day. The gentleman right over here,
he's rocking it better than I am. He fills those sleeves.
I'm just pretending. But my only concern so far of
the uniforms has been the numbers on the back are.
Speaker 2 (01:35:57):
So low, so low. And this is another on the
back of the jersey.
Speaker 4 (01:36:02):
I'm gonna die on, is that the numbers are too low.
The top of the number comes at the bottom of
the shoulder opening where they should be up more of
a three quarter. But with the jerseys they had today
with the name number or the name plate of the
Bison on the back, then it looked more normal today.
But yeah, all being all, I like it. It's a
great gimmick. It's a great thing to move some merch.
(01:36:24):
That's what this moves are all about.
Speaker 3 (01:36:26):
That's what Then the players want something a little bit
exactly kicks the tradition with giving you a little bit
of a new flavor.
Speaker 2 (01:36:30):
I think they look great.
Speaker 3 (01:36:31):
I'll say this from the broadcaster standing to the point
when you're all the way up top, you want to
be able to read the numbers, and with them being
so reflective, it's hard to read them sometimes.
Speaker 2 (01:36:39):
So Sam did a great job today.
Speaker 3 (01:36:41):
You got to get those binoculars out and makesure you
get the right number, and he knows the team well
enough that you can just get it done that way.
But the threes and eights and nines look very very similar.
When they're just so reflective and shiny out there, you
don't have the contrast of the yellow and the green as.
Speaker 2 (01:36:53):
Much with the gold in the green. Yeah, yeah, well,
but great look and I love the harvest the.
Speaker 4 (01:36:58):
Yellow versus the gold. I don't I don't know why
that is, but that out. All I know is that
the gold has been associated with Dacy has not been
a gold as in Notre Dame gold. Correct, right, you
know what I'm saying? Like that, And that was what
the the gold standard jerseys were today or whatever?
Speaker 2 (01:37:14):
Yeah, gold standard jerseys.
Speaker 6 (01:37:18):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:37:18):
Oh, you're a like five of them.
Speaker 3 (01:37:19):
When you're talking about Lee and Fargo said, I did
not like the white uniform.
Speaker 2 (01:37:23):
It's hard to read the gold numbers, you think. So
that we just gave you.
Speaker 4 (01:37:27):
The question is will we see that look or that
fit again moving forward or is this a one time I.
Speaker 3 (01:37:33):
Don't think it'll be a one and never wear it again.
Maybe it's a once a year, once every other year
type of thing. I think it will be one again.
Speaker 6 (01:37:39):
I think we can wear the white pants with our
normal white jerseys. I think that would look okay. I
don't know. I think that jersey has to be worn
with the pants they wore today. I don't know if
you could.
Speaker 4 (01:37:50):
See that you're putting in with the yellow slash gold pants.
I don't think it looks right green pants, maybe because
there's some green highlight.
Speaker 2 (01:37:58):
On the jersey, but potentially I do think they look
pretty sweet.
Speaker 3 (01:38:02):
And Nashville, if you win a national championship with the
confetti and you' raising the championship with the grophy the gold,
I think that.
Speaker 2 (01:38:08):
Could look pretty cool.
Speaker 4 (01:38:09):
All right.
Speaker 2 (01:38:09):
Sweet.
Speaker 3 (01:38:10):
We have a few more comments as well, but it's
from from Bison Nation nd Cole Peyton, best NDSU quarterback
Ever quickly, how quickly we changed our tune from some
people out there. A great game overall, Brian says, w
is a w now onto the bye week horns up
as well, just me but not fond of all the white,
but back to the game. Glad for the win, but
(01:38:31):
just felt like a little slow motion with all the
white on the jerseys. So some people obviously mixed reactions
on the jerseys there as well. Tim Howise says, I
have been waiting for a three hundred yard passing game
for seventy games, so great to see it, see it
in person, so.
Speaker 4 (01:38:44):
Teak about this. The last time that we threw for
over three hundred yards a NDSU did, we didn't know
what a COVID mask was.
Speaker 3 (01:38:51):
Ding Ding Ding twenty nineteen Trey Lance. That's it's a
long time ago. And you put it that way.
Speaker 4 (01:38:57):
If I were that way, if I was to say
to you, did you wear a COVID mask before or after?
Speaker 2 (01:39:03):
It would have been before you.
Speaker 4 (01:39:04):
Would have said, oh, it had to have been sometime
in the last five years.
Speaker 2 (01:39:07):
Again, Kat Miller would have had three hundred pard passing. Nope, right, no,
it didn't happen.
Speaker 4 (01:39:10):
This unbelievable status that long.
Speaker 2 (01:39:12):
Also, what's COVID? Never heard of it? I completely forgot
that thing ever happened. Oh, there is never bringing that
one back.
Speaker 4 (01:39:17):

Let's get back to the breakdown of today's game for
the Bison. This is Bison hotline.
Speaker 3 (01:43:44):
Third down at goal at the one ball on the left,
hash load inline paid under center at quarterback, sneak trying
his way yes ahead touchdown at ESU Hayden on the
quarterback sneak four touchdowns through the air. Now he's got
one on the ground and the buys in extend the
(01:44:06):
lead boarding of fourteen twelve away remaining forty one to fourteen.
The final score NDSU moves a three and oh. They
win their first ever meeting with Simo by the way,
first time they've ever matched up with the Red Hawks,
and they get the win, move to three and ozer
on the year and their twenty seventh straight win home
opening win here this year and their two hundredth win
(01:44:29):
ever inside of the foregeting pretty special day and a banner.
Speaker 2 (01:44:31):
Raising as well. What do you think the banner raising?
Speaker 4 (01:44:33):
Guys love it still, It's just never not emotionally you
look up and you watch it go right video beforehand
to Yeah, you think about all the different teams Jake
is as you were part of some of those, right,
Like it just it's always an expectation at the start
of the year, like you want to start the next
year with.
Speaker 7 (01:44:51):
That, and that's a good way to start, Like you
can't find a better way to start the next season
with that. Obviously, the players weren't out there for it,
which I think is a good as Coach Polic's been saying,
it's a new year, this twenty.
Speaker 2 (01:45:00):
Doesn't this is a fan thing, really, isn't the banner?
Speaker 7 (01:45:03):
Yeah, but no, like that's that's the expectation home opener,
that banner should be raised every year, and that's that's
the expectation.
Speaker 4 (01:45:10):
And you look up there and you're like, Okay, there's
only like three or four years that are missing.
Speaker 6 (01:45:14):
Yep.
Speaker 4 (01:45:15):
And you're like, oh that year, Oh that year on COVID,
Oh that year.
Speaker 3 (01:45:20):
You know, that's what we learned to count here, oh,
twenty twenty one, twenty twenty two. Yeah, that's how we
learned account.
Speaker 4 (01:45:25):
Where other schools are putting their playoff appearances up on
billboards and whatnot, NBSU is only messing with national.
Speaker 2 (01:45:31):
Championships, reinforcing the conference.
Speaker 4 (01:45:33):
Who needs that? That's great, But all we're doing here
is champions.
Speaker 3 (01:45:37):
Speaking of other programs, SDSU with a twenty eight to
eighteen lead on Drake three forty five to play in
the third quarter, a little closer than we probably thought
this one was going to beat.
Speaker 6 (01:45:45):
Yeah, Drake played hard.
Speaker 7 (01:45:47):
They have their starting quarterback went out they have a
true freshman in he's he's looked.
Speaker 6 (01:45:52):
Okay, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:45:52):
The Jacks are, you know, being what five six touchdown
favorites here and they're in a ten point game in
the second half.
Speaker 2 (01:45:59):
Not great, they would have not they in the first
couple of weeks.
Speaker 3 (01:46:02):
Maybe overlooked an opponent there potentially, but still up by
ten and they have the ball and they're driving right
now too, with a chance to make it seventeen point game.
Chris Hansen, since it's your first day with us here
on Bizon Ontline this year, not gonna be with us
many other times. Uh, do you want to do us
the honor of reaching into that prize basket right there?
Speaker 4 (01:46:19):
Fancy that way?
Speaker 2 (01:46:20):
I want to see if you can open it? I again?
Speaker 3 (01:46:24):
Ah, there we go, Yeah, slight up the back there,
there you go, reaching and pull a winner. First off
for the stainless steel tumbler. This will be the first
run for the Tumblr forty bis in sixteen sixty logo
on a great for the tailgate.
Speaker 4 (01:46:36):
Lot Lisa Atkinson, Asa Atkinson Akinson, Lisa don't be present
to win, so we'll set that one aside for Lisa.
Speaker 3 (01:46:44):
Well done there, and now for two tickets nd s
U versus USD homecoming game in two weeks. We got
to end that streak the last two years in the playoffs,
last two yeah, in the regular season.
Speaker 2 (01:46:56):
Chris Hansen, how do you pull that?
Speaker 4 (01:46:59):
Abby Well?
Speaker 3 (01:47:00):
Abby Well? Will be well well done, Abby, Abby, your
name and the bucket.
Speaker 2 (01:47:06):
Well done.
Speaker 3 (01:47:07):
She gets the two tickets to NDSU USD. Thanks to
everyone that signed up. We'll do this again every single
week we're here with the giving away some tickets for
NDSU games. I've even thrown some basketball games towards the
end of this year. Once we get closer to buyes
in basketball, that will just about do it for us today, gentlemen,
final thoughts, Chris will start with you three and oh
forty one fourteen and now you get the bye week
(01:47:28):
to rest up.
Speaker 4 (01:47:28):
Nice day for tailgating, as I like to say, if
you couldn't get out there and tailgate today, maybe you
should look at basket weaving because there was no reason
that that be out there today. And it was a
good crowd, almost eighteen thousand people in the dome today.
Team five NBSU taking care of business as they do
with home openers, and a team that is a nice Test,
(01:47:49):
because you want to have something that a definite step
up from the first test, like, you know, a little
better competition. This is somebody who last year won their conference,
you know, is a perennial playoff team other years, so
somebody who's you know, gunning and so it was nice
to see a win. And obviously Cole Payton doing some
things today with the football that we haven't seen in
an awful long time. That was fun to see.
Speaker 10 (01:48:10):
Jack.
Speaker 7 (01:48:11):
I'll just go off with Chris said, step up in competition,
which we needed that, you know, going to the bye week,
have some solid film from a team that is a
perennial playoff you know FCS well known.
Speaker 2 (01:48:21):
Team, maybe exposed a thing or two, nice something to
work on.
Speaker 7 (01:48:24):
Absolutely get you know, break down that film. We saw
Cole Peyton, you know, obviously have an unbelievable day through
the air. Build off that you're not always gonna have
single high coverager just be able to throw the ball
up to Bryce. It's gonna get tougher, but all in all,
I think a good win for the Bison. Get win
number two hundred in the Dome, and you can go
into that bye week. You know, if anyone's banged up
a little bit, get healthy and get ready for conference play.
Speaker 3 (01:48:44):
Thirty two and three record in the annual Trees Bowl
Game as well, we should mention that with it being
the Trees Bowl today and the Issue gets their first
win against Simo in their first ever meeting with them,
now five and zero against Ohio Valley competition, and now
twenty seven straight home opening wins overall fifty three fifty
two to three win over Tennessee State last year in
the Issue, they were one hundred and first winning a
(01:49:07):
home opener one hundred or one hundred and one, twenty
two and five all time record and home openers to
start off a home slate for a season, and their
two hundredth win inside the Fego Dome. We mentioned it,
and it was a stat that was so great to
lead off the show. Two hundred and twenty nine the
all time record inside the Fargo Dome two hundred twenty nine,
eighty eight point seven percent. By the way, eighty eight
(01:49:28):
point seven percent we found out the exact percentage.
Speaker 4 (01:49:31):
There's not many of them who are maybe even still
care about what anyone thinks. But what are those people
in the late eighties right early nineties. It said, what
we're gonna We're gonna play inside? Are you craziness?
Speaker 10 (01:49:43):
Oh?
Speaker 4 (01:49:43):
Then what a bomination? How much does this thing?
Speaker 6 (01:49:46):
Costing?
Speaker 4 (01:49:46):
Twenty million dollars? Are you? I think it's worked out. Okay,
I think it's worth five was nice, But I think
it's worked out just fine.
Speaker 3 (01:49:54):
An outdoor environment and the home field advantage, okay, yeah sure,
but I think the indoors and the noise factor is
also maybe a.
Speaker 4 (01:50:00):
Home has treated the Bison very well, and.
Speaker 3 (01:50:03):
The broadcasters, the presser I'm soft, okay, I've had enough
of the cold.
Speaker 2 (01:50:08):
I'm okay.
Speaker 3 (01:50:09):
We're having a couple hours on a Saturday instead of
a warm building and seeing the Bison whoop up on
the competition like they did today.
Speaker 4 (01:50:14):
Forty one chuck the whiskey bottle at the press box.
Speaker 2 (01:50:17):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, there's so plenty of time for it.
Speaker 3 (01:50:19):
Forty one to fourteen Again, the final NDSU takes down
Simo today, bye week is next, the chance to rest up.
My final thought is actually a future thought and an
early congratulations. Logan Cop getting married here over the bye week.
So Logan Cop Bison senior linebacker. I mean two married
guys on the team. I believe him and Jackson Dootonher
(01:50:40):
will both be married at that point, So that's gonna
be really cool fun to hear from Logan, you know,
the week after, it'd be like, how'd it go? And
all that kind of stuff. I'm sure we'll have some
of that for you on one of seven point nine,
The Fox and Beison sixteen to six. That will do
it for us today, for Jay Cava, for Chris Hansen,
for the voice of the Bison, Sam Niederman, the Hall
of Famer Phil Hanson, Noah Gendorf on the sideline, the
g our family about to have an addition as well.
(01:51:02):
Shout out to them for a future birth of a
child coming up here. Guinea was on the sidelines. I
think he was checking his phone with every single night play.
Then my god, do I Gotta go? Do I Gotta go?
Is jaking to take over from the sidelines? What's happening?
They did a great job today, Jake Beck told our
great engineer Roman Porterfield, cool ILANIMI back in our studios
producing Hotline and the game for you. Our morning stuff
produced by Ian Longton in studio as well, Brad Jones,
