(00:29):
go live to Applebee's on sixteenth Street North. Cheers Andy Rickoff.

Speaker 3 (00:39):
Fifteen straight trips to the quarterfinals and another trip to
the semi finals for in DSU. The Bison are moving
on and they will be hosting South Dakota State here
next weekend on Saturday, and they'll be having a chance
to go play in Frisco, one of the final four
teams remaining here in the FCS. Welcome on in to
Bison hot Line as the Bison get the win today

(01:02):
and they defeat Mercer thirty one to seven at the
Fargo Dome. Andy wrekon here with you alive and Applebee's
just north of the Dome. I know it's a slick
right now, We've got some bad road conditions and everything
else going on. Sort of swing over to Applebee's just
north of the Fargo Dome instead and take in Bison Hotline.
Celebrate the victory with us joining me today of course
Chris Hanson and the former Bidies and Jake Cava. We

(01:25):
do not need a Oklahoma drill. We'll get into that
a little bit later on, but we do need to
get ready for a semi final.

Speaker 4 (01:31):
Gentlemen.

Speaker 3 (01:32):
Nice victory for NDYSU as they move on to the semis.

Speaker 5 (01:34):
Chris, Yeah, great game today that NDSU took care of business.
It was kind of what was I didn't see them
scoring a ton of points. I think that they were
going to try to shut NDYSU down as far as
the rushing game goes, and I would say they did
that today. NDYSU with only one hundred and thirty three
yards on the ground for an INDUSU squad, that's a
little bit below average. Probably, I'm guessing their numbers. They

(01:57):
want to be at one fifty for every game, so
they beat that.

Speaker 6 (02:01):
Uh.

Speaker 5 (02:01):
We did have two turnovers today, but in the very end,
the only one that really matters is thirty one, and
that's the number of points they scored.

Speaker 4 (02:08):
Today with a win.

Speaker 7 (02:10):
Yeah, I thought we came out obviously, got off to
a better start. Sitting on the sideline, I was like, oh,
this could get ugly early, you know, go touchdown or.

Speaker 4 (02:18):
Three now, touchdown and it's in. It was fourteen nothing.

Speaker 7 (02:20):
Yeah, and just that Cam Miller connection to Bryce Lance.
I almost did it. I almost did it.

Speaker 4 (02:28):
Not Trey Lance, Bryce Lance.

Speaker 7 (02:29):
But no, it was a great and you know defense,
there are some times I thought they played really well.
There are some times that it was eh, and there's
some times that you know, we got interceptions, he got
turnovers and then you know, Cam just had a couple
of uncaristick interceptions.

Speaker 4 (02:41):
But he'll get that cleaned up going to the next week.

Speaker 3 (02:43):
Yeah, definitely some things to clean up. We'll touch on
those over the next couple of hours. If you guys
got any thoughts as well, feel free call in seven
zero one four seven six sixteen sixty one your thoughts
out there and Bonnie's the nation as well, or you
can text that same number seven zero one four seven
six sixteen sixty. You can also email in. The email
inbox for you is studio at Bison sixteen sixty dot com.

(03:06):
That is the way to email the program if you
want to be a part of the show, and you
can also comment on our Bison sixteen sixty Facebook page.
But the Bison, dude get to win thirty one to seven.
It never felt, guys, like a game where Indy issues
defense was gonna be threatened. To know, Mercer got that
one score or two big plays, a big run and
then the big pass. But Code Green kind of responded well,
got the the Bears off of the field, consistently, did

(03:29):
pick off one pass and just felt like the Bears
never really we're gonna threaten NDSU for more than fourteen
points in this game.

Speaker 7 (03:36):
Yeah, I had the secondary did a lot better job tackling.
I thought there's a couple of players where you know,
they got to the edge of the defense. There were
getting you know, ten fifteen yards in the first down,
but we limited the big plays. Obviously the one you
alluded to the touchdown they scored. But it was just
a solid performance. I know fans might say, oh that
there should have been zero points, and I would agree
like that, those two big plays you can't have that
happen against a team like South Coast State. That could

(03:57):
be the difference between winning or losing the game. But
in a game like this, we did what we need
to do, came out, got the job done. And I
know it's hard, and you want to say, like, don't
look at next week, don't look at next week. I
guarantee South Coast State and NDCU have both had this.
Now it's an eleven o'clock kick.

Speaker 4 (04:12):
Circle on.

Speaker 7 (04:13):
They knew this was the game that everyone was looking
the bracket came out, when the bracket came out, and
now we have it. So it's gonna be breakfast with
the Bison. I can't wait, Like, let's get to Saturday
already and let's play this game.

Speaker 3 (04:23):
I kind of don't mind a you know, eleven o'clock
kick other than the Friday at six thirty or seven
three like we've had in years. Pass on o, but
you Chris, but we've had some late nights, you know what.

Speaker 5 (04:32):
Those celebration clicks get late early for sure. But I
think that NDYSU where they're gonna be at with playing SDSU.
I don't know, if you want to look at an advantage
to this is that NDSU will be sleeping in their
own beds. Traditionally, when NDYSU has gone to STCU right,
they stay in Swo Falls the night before and then
bust back up. So now you're gonna have SDSU probably

(04:54):
traveling too Fargo Friday afternoon, have their walkthroughs. I'm assuming
they stay somewhere around far.

Speaker 7 (04:59):
Got I know where they stay. Of feeding bys and
fans want that information, Go ahead.

Speaker 5 (05:03):
Text jacket, we'll make that happen. So I guess then
now you're up early, your schedule is totally changed. I
mean by eleven o'clock you haven't played one of those
games all season long. For both teams, it is a
big adjustment to your schedule and how you are going
to prepare. I think that's a lot easier to do
if you're at home than if you're on the road
doing that.

Speaker 3 (05:20):
Absolute teams that know each other extremely.

Speaker 5 (05:21):
Yeah, with the x's and no's, there almost isn't any
of that to go over. I get that, But as
far as waking up, prepping for the game, and going
I think that I would give the advantage in that
category to the Bison.

Speaker 7 (05:32):
And from a player's ten by two, those earlier kicks
are almost you like, I don't buy some players we get.

Speaker 4 (05:38):
So used to thirty kick two thirty kicks.

Speaker 7 (05:39):
Yeah, the eleven am kicks sometimes is awesome because you know,
you wake up and it's like, let's hit the gas
pedal and let's go. Like there's not a whole lot
of sitting around waiting for it, so I just can't wait.
It was exactly, You're like, wake up and you are
ready to go.

Speaker 3 (05:52):
Everything that whole day is just football.

Speaker 5 (05:53):
Yeah, fan in me says, I would love to have
a twelve hour period of thinking about the game, getting
ready for the game, m tailgating, doing all that leading
up to a seven o'clock kickoff. Don't get me wrong.
If I had my druthers nuts that I would go with.
But at the same time, there's something magical about cracking
that first one at six amsh just telling again.

Speaker 3 (06:11):
Still have twelve hours to get ready? Well, I mean
up a little bit.

Speaker 5 (06:14):
It is it's all in the eye beholder.

Speaker 4 (06:15):
But or just not go to bed the night before.
That also gives you.

Speaker 5 (06:18):
More celebration time and Frisco time and a jump on tickets.
That's true, You'll you'll be the late afternoon game.

Speaker 3 (06:28):
I'm sure Bison fans maybe have already planned for that one.
Well maybe you know, we will dive into that. Even
the matchup's going to be SDSU. We know that, right,
So they got the victory today, NDSU gets the win.
We know it's gonna be bis and Versa Jacks for
a chance to go play in Frisco for a national title.
You know it's gonna be a Montana state hosting USD.
I don't think it's gonna shock anyone or surprises anyone.
That is only four teams left and three of them

(06:49):
are valley teams. So yeah, anyone that's the valleys down
this year. Okay, we can look at the final four
teams left and decide what conference is the best one
in the land. But NDSU does win today, thirty one
to seven over Mercer. Again, call text seven zero one
four seven six sixteen sixty. I know we've got a
few people already lining up there on the phone lines.
You can also email in studio at Bison sixteen sixty

(07:33):
but four pairs of tickets, four pairs of tickets to
give away to Bison men's basketball tomorrow. So stopping up

to win those tickets to Bison men's basketball. Think our
first break, though, we'll come back. I know we'll get
to some phone calls and some texts after we take

Time for more reaction from today's game. Pure a game
is your host, Andy Rickoff to the.

Speaker 18 (12:06):
Bison, takeover seven out the leaves for any UTENO one
to go to the first quarter from the twenty six
per ten quick throw right caught my college.

Speaker 19 (12:13):
He breaks it in a second level. The kid enter
at the Mercer territory. He can go out and that's
twenty fifteen ten five diving down inside of a five
yard line, just shy in the four. Wow, Mackay Collins,
welcome back to the field. His first catch in a
matter of weeks, and it's a seventy yard rip all

(12:34):
the way down in Cyber Mercer.

Speaker 4 (12:36):
Five.

Speaker 3 (12:39):
Big play right there from Mackay Collins part of a
thirty one seven win for Endus. You we're back here
with you live on Bison Hotline at Appleby's just north
of the Fargo Dome. Bison Hotline brought to you by Bobcat.
Whether you're just starting out or looking to advance in
your career, Bobcat is the place for you. Visit bobcat
dot com slash careers to join a team that's always

(13:00):
in the end zone. How about the day for Mkay
Collins over one hundred receiving yards that was part of
the fast start that we liked. Mackay's seventy yards to
take that little slant you're after the races couldn't quite
punch it in. The Bison would on the next play.
But great to have Mackay and that host of receivers
back again.

Speaker 5 (13:16):
Jake, you've been in numerous locker rooms with the Bison
over your career. I want to know, and I know
you're on the defensive side, how much does he get
from his teammates of getting hawked at the three yard line? Yeah?

Speaker 4 (13:28):
That's not great, is it?

Speaker 5 (13:30):
Because you always hear that all his teammates are gonna
But does it really happen.

Speaker 7 (13:34):
Yeah, especially in the receiver group when you know those
guys pride themselves on you for sure, we're the.

Speaker 4 (13:37):
Fastest dudes on the team.

Speaker 7 (13:38):
And then when you're in the group of the fastest
dudes on the team and you're not the fastest dude,
you're getting hooked at the.

Speaker 4 (13:44):
Three yard line. You definitely hear a lot of it.

Speaker 5 (13:45):
I mean, he had a good angle. I'm gonna give
the guy credit on it.

Speaker 4 (13:48):
He did take it.

Speaker 3 (13:48):
He did at the speed to beat the first two
guys get the big play.

Speaker 5 (13:51):
But any wide receiver that is worth their weight, or
any player on offense it's worth their weight, is always
gonna want to get into the end zone. NBSU obviously
ended up paying off. But it's so great to see
another weapon like It's just it's it's building to that
point of who are you going to try and to
shut down because cam Miller has shown that it doesn't
matter who it is, he will find anybody that's on

(14:13):
that field.

Speaker 3 (14:13):
To make clearly him and Bryce that's the number one connection.
Sure clear you want to take that away? Do you
want to deal with this and that kind of speed? Yeah,
And plus Rajah and Braylan's not batter. I know, we've
got Chris Harris and then stufffle.

Speaker 5 (14:24):
And I mean the list goes on and on and on.
So really good to see you at another Bison receiver
step up and make a big long place.

Speaker 4 (14:30):
Today.

Speaker 3 (14:31):
We are here with you on Bison Hotline, reacting to
Ndsues win over Mercer and moving on to the semi finals.
Call us up seven zero one four seven six sixteen
sixty the icon giving us a call right now. Icon,
you're here with us on air on Bison Hotline. What
do you want to talk about?

Speaker 20 (14:47):
Well, hey, gentlemen, a couple of things here. You know,
I'll tell you what this is a this is a
big win, and uh correct me if I'm wrong with
team one. And I love our guys' booth. I love
Phil Hanson, you know his autographed football card to help
here bart for me once. But it just seems like
with this grating, it just seems like there's there's more
negativity than positivity. I mean, this is the biggest win

(15:09):
so far the season. Next week will be even bigger
when we take out the jack Rabbits again. That's one
two with the replay that we were talking of, talking
about when we were third and seven, nobody's game for intent?
What replay do you think the referees were watching. That's
two And the other question is when did they switch

(15:33):
or why did they switch having one of the games
on Friday night and the other game on Saturday night.
I appreciate you, guys, and I will see you all
out there next Saturday.

Speaker 5 (15:44):
Have we go ones?

Speaker 4 (15:46):
Thank you.

Speaker 3 (15:47):
I kind of appreciate the call again seven zero one
four seven six sixteen six to get in line for
the next couple of ones. I think those things one
by one. First off, let's go with the officiating ones.
You already got a couple of people asking about that.

Speaker 4 (16:00):
I don't know what happened.

Speaker 3 (16:01):
I don't know what they were looking at because they
told us to be patient, we're gonna get this right
and take another review at it. Then they did that
and got it wrong. So it was pretty simple. Math
should have been thirty seven, but you got moved back
even further. And I don't know that's the best refereeker
the Big Sky had to offer.

Speaker 5 (16:18):
So I don't know. We talked right before we were
going on air. The only thing that I wonder if
they got tripped up on.

Speaker 4 (16:24):
Was the play that.

Speaker 5 (16:25):
Led up the first down was a first down run?

Speaker 4 (16:28):
Correct?

Speaker 5 (16:29):
Yep, But there was a fifteen yard penalty that was
assessed during the run after the.

Speaker 3 (16:35):
Celebration run before where they got the first down, but.

Speaker 5 (16:38):
It was enforced as a fifteen yard penalty, so overall
they lost five yards, but it was still.

Speaker 4 (16:43):
A first down.

Speaker 3 (16:43):
They still got a first down.

Speaker 5 (16:44):
Okay. So then that's what I was wondering is if
did they get mixed up in that minutia. I don't know,
but that would be a moment if you go back.

Speaker 4 (16:53):
And review it.

Speaker 3 (16:53):
You can watch play by you watch the TV copy.

Speaker 5 (16:57):
Anybody who was able to get a cell phone signal
was looking at their phone. I know you were, Jake,
and you're probably were too, and looking like, well, what
was the second down play? Because that's the key. What
was the second down play? Was a second and seven incomplete?

Speaker 4 (17:09):
To Joe Sooffel, Yeah.

Speaker 5 (17:10):
That's all you need, this completed pass.

Speaker 3 (17:12):
If they went to review and very quickly said it's
actually gonna be incomplete, yep, so put it back.

Speaker 4 (17:16):
It's now thirty seven.

Speaker 5 (17:18):
It should not have taken almost six minutes to figure
and well.

Speaker 3 (17:21):
They it took him six minutes to decide they're going
to review it further, and then they still got it
wrong after the further review. And then some thing you
don't tell fans is be patient. Never tell fans be patient.
That's not gonna go well.

Speaker 7 (17:30):
Well, and then to like what I'm pretty sure when
they go to review there they have every copy. So
they have the TV ESPN, ABC's copy, they have the
in house Fargodome cameras.

Speaker 4 (17:40):
So I think I.

Speaker 7 (17:41):
Don't know if they actually have like the score like
I think they have like notepads that they're writing stuff
down on. I don't know if they can actually look
at like the score bug on the bottom of the copy, right.

Speaker 4 (17:50):
But I don't know how I was.

Speaker 7 (17:51):
I was always standing there with Todd Phelips, one of
the it's this antheic directors. I had my phone out,
I'm like, I have the TV copy. I'm like, okay,
we're second and seven, Like, don't get.

Speaker 4 (18:01):
It paused right here. I haven't paused right here.

Speaker 7 (18:03):
I can tell you like, you're second and seven from
the forty.

Speaker 3 (18:07):
Yeah what And the thing is McKay collins caught one
later and.

Speaker 5 (18:12):
The screen on the Fargo Dome like they had to
write the entire time, like the crew who is running
the scoreboard and then you know on the big end
zone score had to write the entire time. All they
had to do is look up there. The only thing
that I can think of is they got screwed up
somehow with the penalty before that. I don't know how
that works. But nonetheless, so the.

Speaker 3 (18:29):
Play by play on some of the live stats online
too was.

Speaker 4 (18:33):
Who was doing that?

Speaker 3 (18:35):
Stuff gets moved over during the playoffs and things tend
to go wrong.

Speaker 4 (18:39):
Sometimes happened, it'll happened.

Speaker 3 (18:41):
When did we move the semi final games from a
Friday Saturday to both Saturday? That's just a TV thing.
I think this is the first year of college football
player or second year of it potentially.

Speaker 5 (18:51):
Yeah, college football play games on Friday, so that that
would for sure.

Speaker 3 (18:56):
College football playoff at the FBS level, It starts basically
next or not basically, it does start next week. A
bowl Metia starts today. They had a couple of bowl games,
but the playoff starts next week, which I have Friday games,
so yeah, those are gonna take precedent, which means the
FCS gets stuck on Saturday. Two good slots on ABC.
I think we're just fine with that.

Speaker 5 (19:14):
And then plus, once you knew that Montana State one
with the time zone difference, they're not gonna make them
play at their ten o'clock local R Like that was
a no brainer. Like when you saw the four teams
that were left, like NBSU was playing Saturday at eleven, that's.

Speaker 4 (19:27):
Just how it is.

Speaker 3 (19:27):
Yeah, no matter who had won that game yesterday, because
if Idaho had won it, you know, they wouldn't been hosting,
I guess, but you wouldn't have made their fans wake
up at you know, nine or something and watch that
one either. So that was basically how that one was
going to go, and I'm personally okay with it. Breakfast
with the Bison on Saturday eleven o'clock, make sure you
get up and it gets get to the Fargo Dome.
We're gonna mention this one a bunch. But you guys
better be buying your tickets. And there's a season ticket

(19:49):
all over it doesn't buy their ticket for this game.
It's a semi final against the Jacks. Let's a Jackrabbitt
fan come and take their ticket instead, revoke the season tickets.
I'll say it we're all thinking.

Speaker 4 (19:58):
Yeah, and to Phil Hanson negative. He has a high standard. First,
I love that as a high standard. I'm okay with it. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (20:04):
The other one there from the icon, Phil's tough on
grading tip. I love Phil. I would have never liked
him to be my professor, no tough grader, grader, but
we love him for it. And that's he knows Bison football.
He knows what the standard is and he's not going
to move an inch from that standard.

Speaker 5 (20:18):
If you want a mediocrity, go up to Grand Forks.

Speaker 3 (20:21):
Plenty of it there, yeah, plenty of you know, curves
on the grading, then they're curving for you. So thank
you for the call there, Icon. How about Tyrone and
West Fargo giving us a call? Tyrone, you're here with
us on Bison Hotline.

Speaker 4 (20:32):
How you doing?

Speaker 21 (20:34):
Hey, I'm good.

Speaker 4 (20:35):
How are you doing?

Speaker 3 (20:37):
Just fun or off to a semi final?

Speaker 4 (20:38):
Tyrone?

Speaker 21 (20:40):
All right? Great?

Speaker 16 (20:41):
Great win.

Speaker 21 (20:44):
First of all, Phil Hanson, I wouldn't call him negative.
I love him too. He's very objective about what he's
seeing and that's what I really take the heart because
what he sees out there is what usually needs to
be fixed, and we're not doing right. And so that's
one thing. Excuse me. The other thing. This weekend is

(21:07):
the fortieth anniversary of me attending Biden football games. I've
seen a lot of football over the years. My wife
has been thirty years and I go way back to
Dakota Fields, Chris Simdorn, Phil Hanson, all those guys. So
I've seen it all over the years and it's been great.
So I'll just keep going to the games and everything.

(21:29):
And I'm going to be a little critical too right now,
because today we were so determined to run the ball
up the middle against the ten nine to ten man front,
and it's like, you know, sometimes if you get the
right blocking scheme, network a lot of times it doesn't

(21:49):
and you put yourself in a hole. Finally, in the
middle of the third quarter or into the fourth, we
ran some off tackle plays and that works a lot better.
And I wish they would do that more instead of
being stubborn and trying to just get that key block
and get through it when you sometimes have to do
something else to loosen up the other team. And I

(22:12):
saw something today that kind of made me sad in
a way. I saw Cam Miller come off the field
and Paul Seck wanted to address something to him. Right
after they had that happen, they went three and out
with three runs up the middle. Okay, Cam walked right
by him, didn't you look at him? And I'm like,

(22:32):
whoa okay?

Speaker 22 (22:34):
And then.

Speaker 21 (22:36):
One other thing. We had a second in seventeen one
time and we ran the ball and second in seventeen.

Speaker 4 (22:45):
Now, thank you, Tyne. Appreciate the call.

Speaker 3 (22:47):
Yep, good thoughts on everything that happening there on the
offensive side. Yeah, I mean think I do think we
wanted to run the ball. And you mean, I know
you brought the numbers already what we rushed for, Chris.
This is also a team that was number one rush
defense in the G sixty six yards a game on
the ground, so we crushed that number. We doubled that number, right,
but yeah, didn't quite. I think have the effectiveness and

(23:08):
the yards per carry average I think we'd like to
have on the ground. I got sticking with it. I know, Jake,
we were talking pre game about this might be a
game where you have to pass to open up the run,
to get them to lessen the box a little bit,
or just to have to respect the pass even more
than they probably were coming in.

Speaker 7 (23:23):
Yeah, absolutely, I think you know, there's a lot of
things that go in, dude. I was kind of down there.
I heard coach Pesharna and Coach Larson actually talking about that, Hey,
they're gonna they're blitzing stuff the middle. They're sending a
lot of they were doing a lot of stun slanting
d linemen up the middle, which was tough with a
couple of our new offensive linemen playing in different spots today.
And they kind of said that, hey, let's start running
the ball off tack and I think we saw that
in the fourth quarter and then to your second and seventeen.

(23:45):
You know, there's sometimes on offense, which I know as
a fan and as someone who loves overs, I don't
like to hear this, but sometimes you just second and seventeen,
let's run the ball. Let's try to get more manageable
so we can punt the ball away and help field position.

Speaker 4 (23:57):
Win field position a little bit.

Speaker 3 (23:59):
Like, I think there was an an element of this
game of the coach. I'm not gonna speak for the coaches,
so I'm probably putting words in their mouth a little bit,
but I think there was an element, at least for me,
of this game of Mercer's offense just doesn't scare us.
They're not scoring more than fourteen, So we're not gonna
take any crazy risks here. We're going to make sure
we get out of this game somewhat healthy. We're gonna
be fine on offense, try and not maybe show some

(24:21):
things and try and win the game twenty one to fourteen,
twenty one seven. Like, I just don't think Mercer's offensive
scamering us. We weren't gonna do anything crazy on offense.

Speaker 7 (24:29):
You just can't do anything that's gonna put you in
a terrible hole that like, oh crap, we just shot
our hands.

Speaker 3 (24:33):
Don't love to hear that might be in a boring
but I think there's a little element to this game
with that.

Speaker 7 (24:36):
And then to speak on the Cam there thing. Obviously,
I've played with Cam for five years. I was a
college football player. At the end of the day, you
know the amount of passion and emotion that you have
to play with to be a great, good, whatever college
football player.

Speaker 4 (24:49):
At the end of the day, it's the court.

Speaker 7 (24:51):
It's a bunch of grown dudes, grown men, adults putting
all this Like, there's gonna be some times where I'm
guilty of it myself. I've said some things to coaches
that I shouldn't have said, coaches that had stuff to
us that they probably shouldn't say. But it's in the
heat of the battle. You if that happens, especially when
you're a senior. Has been here as long as Cam,
he's earned that right. And and I'm not saying that's right, Like,
obviously you gotta respect guys who are older in positions

(25:13):
of you know, authority and stuff like that. But I
guarantee Cam Miller and Tim paul Sker in the locker
room or just got out of the locker room and
they were hugging it up after game and.

Speaker 3 (25:21):
They don't even know what the situation was that Tyrone said,
I think everyone is going to be fine.

Speaker 4 (25:26):
Yeah, I wouldn't look into it.

Speaker 7 (25:27):
There's just in the heat of the battle, you're out there,
you're trying to win a college football game, You're trying
to get another ticket to another or another semi final
that eventually play in a national championship. There's just a
lot of emotions, a lot of just stuff that happens
that it wouldn't look too much into it. Cam Miller
is a great guy, one of my good friends, like
he's it might have happened, but just don't look to
it and don't judge Cam based on that.

Speaker 5 (25:46):
So you're telling me you walk past goose.

Speaker 7 (25:48):
Of that even listening to word a couple of times
when he was getting mad at me for something, but
then you know what, we'd hug it out and I
he's wanting.

Speaker 4 (25:54):
To most times.

Speaker 5 (25:55):
I mean, they're at the level where they know they've
made a mistake. I know, I got it. The coach
is saying it because they have to say it. That
doesn't mean that the player has to respond to it
and also passed and going to the bench and getting
back to what you're doing.

Speaker 4 (26:07):
Is it very well, Gonda happened that Caim might not
just like not heard.

Speaker 5 (26:10):
Or maybe didn't hear exactly or maybe pretended to not
hear him one or the other. Could have been a
lot of things. I'm not going to put this soon
to be Walter Payton Trophy winner on blast on that
one for sure.

Speaker 3 (26:21):
Yeah, NYSU gets the win though thirty one to seven.

Speaker 4 (26:25):
We move on.

Speaker 5 (26:25):
I love to see though, I gotta say, you know,
I don't care. You know, Cam saw what Tommy did
last night. Absolutely, Yeah, in Bozeman, you know did that
first run today? You knew like, oh you think, oh
you think you got some of that.

Speaker 3 (26:39):
He's the only one that can do this.

Speaker 5 (26:41):
Oh you watch what I can do. You think that's
any coincidence that that happened. And immediately at the beginning
of the game.

Speaker 3 (26:47):
Zero coincidence, And he came out throwing the ball over
the place to love. That was a great start and
they got off to the start they needed to win
this game much better than the last couple of weeks.
You have some more text messages coming in if you

Thirty five from the thirty four Stampa Miller quarterback.

Speaker 19 (31:19):
Run cuts it up the narrowscam sign of twenty five
to fifteen to ten to five and he's soldered in
to the end zone where touchsound. Cam Miller does it
all on his own thirty four yard rushing touchdown.

Speaker 5 (31:35):
He runs it off the left side and he's into
the end zone.

Speaker 1 (31:38):
Twenty to seven Bison.

Speaker 3 (31:42):
Touchdown run from cam Miller right there as he gets
into the end zone extends the Bison lead back to
two scores. They eventually going to win this one thirty
one to seven over Mercer takedown the seven seated Bears,
and they are moving on to another semi final appearance
in a meeting with the jack Rabbits next Saturday. Little
breakfast with the Bison and punching your ticket hopefully to Frisco.

hear from you.

Speaker 30 (32:25):
I'm good, uh with the news this week of the
next two National Championship Games being in Nationale Chris, I
just want to a.

Speaker 4 (32:34):
Public records shock that you brought offer.

Speaker 30 (32:37):
My offer stands for next September, not for the twenty
six National Championship In twenty seven National Championship Games. I
can't afford that much.

Speaker 3 (32:50):
The offer of coming down and buying some drinks sat
down in Nashville. Okay, okay, I got you. That is understood.

Speaker 30 (32:55):
That's correct, guys, eight, we're on a semifinals. What worries
me a little bit is Faizan Nation has complained about
we don't get new blood in the we don't get
new opponents in the dome, and watching it at the

(33:17):
Nashville watch party, I don't know the exact number for attendance,
but it still looks pretty empty. We have.

Speaker 4 (33:27):
Three I can tell you Mark.

Speaker 30 (33:29):
Wow, Guys, we had the SoCon champ and the week
before we had the United Assidic Conference Champs. Two schools
that are going to be perennial playoff teams, that are
potentially perennial playoff teams because of what they have shown
in the last few years. If that doesn't excite Fargo

(33:50):
and North Dakota, I mean, what how many how many
Bunnies fans are going to be able to grab tickets
next week? And that's what That's what worries me a
little bit. And that's where but the boys did what
they needed to do. Jake, question for you real quick.

(34:11):
The yeah, the I don't want to say lethargic or
I guess you called conservative play calling in the third quarter?
Is that something just because we knew what their offense
could couldn't do and we just wanted to run out
the clock in the second half. You know, if you

(34:31):
can speak on that because you've been on the field
and in the soccer room. I mean, that's kind of
like missed opportunities. We could have put the nail on
the coffin, but we just kinda didn't do much in
the third quarter in the early fourth quarter. Thanks guys,
see you next week.

Speaker 3 (34:51):
Thank you, Mark, appreciate the call there calling us up
here on the phone line here on Bison hot Let.
We just touched on that a little bit of it.
Kind of felt the game. Will equate this to twenty
nineteen Illinois State or the nine to three game right
where it never felt like Illinois State was going to
threaten to win the game. They were just one big
play from breaking it and taking the lead. Part of
me chipp in my throat, but it never felt they

(35:13):
were going to do that, and the NDSU offense seemed conservative.
Now it's saying a NDSU's offense was conservative in this game,
but it did feel like we were willing to run
the ball, to work the clock, to work that side
of it. Being up by two scores and hopefully breaking
one and it just didn't break when until they were
able to score again, and then thirty one seven seems
like a pretty good margin by the end of things.

Speaker 7 (35:32):
Yeah, I do think there's a little bit, you know,
just like you were saying, like that Illinois State game.
You know, defense is humming basically offensively. You know, we're
gonna run the ball to choose some clock play. Just
don't do something on offense that's gonna put our defense
in a bad position from the ball at the ten.
And we almost did right when we came through that pick.
But like we made a big play on defense, get
that back. But I do think like from the coaching staff,
there's like, okay, defense is playing really well. Their offense,

(35:53):
you know, it doesn't threaten us all. They got a
freshman quarterbashing quarterback. Wildcat quarterback does nothing. Yeah, so it's
a little bit like let's just not hurt ourselves. You know,
hopefully we bust on when we'll still throw the ball,
you know, second, long, third, and long WANs We trust
camp obviously to throw the ball, but we'll get a
little conservative just because and we get close with that
is okay. If you've become two conservative, then you kind
of lose the game, which obviously we didn't, which is great,

(36:15):
But there's that's that's why these coaches are getting paid
a lot of them.

Speaker 3 (36:18):
I think if it had been a one score game
would have been a different story. But you're up by
two scores right at twenty one seven or twenty four
to seven as it was for a while with three
scores at that point when you're up seventeen, so that
makes things a little bit different. If I've gotten down
to being one score, I think things might have been
changed on the offensive side. Again, We're here with you
on Bison Hotline live from Appleby's. We are giving away
tickets to NDSU men's basketball tomorrow against Western Michigan. So

(36:42):
sign up here in the bar area at apple Bee's
will give away four pairs of tickets to see an
NDSU men's basketball team on a six game winning streak
that just took down Butler.

Speaker 4 (36:50):
As well.

Speaker 3 (36:50):
All things good in BID's and athletics right now, including
the Bison football team moving on to a semi final
next Saturday eleven o'clock, and I think we have some
ticket information on that game as well.

Speaker 5 (37:04):
Do we have a breaking news sounder or something like
that where it comes your breaking news sounder. This is
even before it's going out. This is just handed to
me from a very reliable source inside of NBSUSSS. I'll
read per batim so I don't mess this up. Tickets
for the semi final playoff game will go on sale Tomorrow,

(37:28):
December fifteenth, at gobuyson dot com. An exclusive pre sale
opportunity will be available for nbsu's Defend the Dome group
from noon to seven pm tomorrow. Any tickets not purchased
by the Defend the Dome Group will be available for
the general public to purchase beginning at seven pm tomorrow.

(37:48):
Who's included in this group? All football season ticket holders,
twenty twenty four teammaker donors and accounts that have purchased
tickets through gobuyson dot com for the first two plays
off games will automatically have access to the Defend the
Dome presale. Defend the Dome members must be logged onto
their go Buyson account to access this exclusive presale. Season

(38:13):
ticket holders will have until five pm on Tuesday to
purchase the same seats for the game. Any season tickets
now purchased by five pm on Tuesday will go on
sale to the general public at eight am on Wednesday.
So that's the traditional part.

Speaker 3 (38:27):
Let's go through this one more time, just briefly, so
you have tomorrow. It will start at what time noon
noon till seven pm tomorrow for the Defend the Dome group.
What happens at seven pm tomorrow?

Speaker 5 (38:39):
Then at seven pm I'm assuming then those people if
you've just purchased tickets through go buyson dot com, or
if you're a ticket teammaker or a season ticket holder
I guess just probably teammakers, and if you've purchased through
them at seven that would shut off right so you
would have then until seven pm if you've bought tickets
tomorrow tomorrow, if you've bought tickets already, or if you

(39:00):
are a teammaker's donor, which they have that number two,
that they would send that email out so that will
go out. You'll be able to buy the tickets tomorrow
before seven o'clock from noon to seven, and then after
that regular season ticket holders would still have the opportunity
until Tuesday at five pm to buy your tickets.

Speaker 3 (39:17):
At five pm on Tuesday, at that point, any tickets
left over up for grabs for the general public, which that.

Speaker 5 (39:23):
Includes anybody who would in the six to oh five
area code.

Speaker 3 (39:27):
Yeah, anyone in that terrible state to the south. So
we do not want any blue and gold. We know
they get tickets, they get in a lotment. We know
we want as little blue and Gold in the stands
as possible. It's it leaves by the nation buy these tickets.

Speaker 5 (39:42):
It's my worst case scenario to think of five or
six thousand jack Rabbit fans inside the Fargo Dome.

Speaker 4 (39:48):
Just reverse it.

Speaker 5 (39:49):
If you would flip the script, if you were having
to travel to Brookings for the semi final game against
your arch nemesis for a trip to the national title game,
wouldn't you want to be there? And wouldn't they want
to keep you out as hard as they can. I've
made a lot of fun of STSU and their shenanigans
over the years of trying to.

Speaker 3 (40:07):
Keep usd with the playoffs.

Speaker 5 (40:09):
Okay, all of that, that's fine. This gives an opportunity
if you have supported the Bison so far, if you're
a teammaker, or if you've already bought tickets in some way,
shape or form, if you took advantage of the twenty
dollars flash sale, two weeks ago, all those things. Get
those tickets before seven o'clock tomorrow night, because then, I
mean then it goes to the season ticket holders, which
if you're worth your weight in anything, if you are

(40:32):
a business who buys twelve of them and you're only like, well,
there's only four of us from the business, please buy all,
give them, give them as a Christmas gift, I mean, whatever.

Speaker 4 (40:43):
It is veterans, give them to anybody, anybody.

Speaker 5 (40:45):
So there we have it. Some breaking news is that
the Defend the goat Dome group, which is season ticket holders.
Any teammaker or anybody who has bought tickets through gobuyson
dot com for the first two rounds or the second and.

Speaker 4 (40:58):
Third round or two playoff games, you.

Speaker 5 (41:00):
Have access to those tickets from noon to seven tomorrowl
that you'll be getting an email and a text message
with these details.

Speaker 4 (41:07):
There you go.

Speaker 3 (41:08):
That's I love I love the defend the Don't. We're
gonna call it to defend the Don't coalition.

Speaker 4 (41:13):
I love it.

Speaker 3 (41:14):
I love that idea from NDSU. If you got into
these first two games, I don't care if you're a
season ticket holder or donor or what if you bought
tickets in the first two games, you get priority for
this next game. I love that it encourage you to
go to the rest of these games. To Mark's point
as well, who called in and said, I've heard for
years and I've heard this too, we just want to
see some new teams. We've seen the same teams every year.

(41:35):
I want to see somebody new. You saw two new teams.
We had never seen Appleline Creation, we had never seen mercies.
So I'm not gonna believe that we just want to
see new teams things. You just saw two new ones,
and he had ten thousand at both of these games
so far. So I don't know what it is, what
the issue is. I know there's other expenses, and know
we're in the holidays, everybody can afford to, but we
got to pack this place more. I'm choosing to go

(41:55):
with The coaches are out when they talk about the
transfer portal and they're like, I'm just going to focus
on who's here. I'm just gonna focus on the fans
that were there. The fans that were there were plenty loud.
I think there was a lot of energy there from
the fans that were there during big plays, but we
need more of them. We need to have more. It
just can't be that way. I hate that we were
on ABC today with a half empty dome.

Speaker 5 (42:12):
Do you want them to be panning next Saturday and
see a crap ton of blue in all those sections? No,
I don't.

Speaker 4 (42:18):
I don't.

Speaker 5 (42:18):
I want to see nothing but green and gold in there.

Speaker 3 (42:20):
So when we were here in the regular season, Jimmy
Rodgers said, this was almost impossible environment to play in.
This was a crazy atmosphere. It better be that way
again on Saturday, and I think it will be, but
I hope it was kind of that way again today
and it just wasn't.

Speaker 5 (42:33):
It showed up at the end of the year. That
win versus SDSU was the win that got three playoff
games for the Bison at home.

Speaker 4 (42:39):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (42:39):
Absolutely that you were in the dome, you defended, you
were loud, you were crazy. That was so much fun.
Let's run it back and do it again because that
game and the game that the team played and all
they put into that goes into next Saturday.

Speaker 4 (42:53):
Yep.

Speaker 5 (42:54):
That was the only thing, especially with the lost to
USD at the end of the season, that was the
only thing that win against stsu' you didn't have that
Indis was not hosting this game next weekend.

Speaker 4 (43:03):
Well they probably actually would have been the Force. They
might exactly right, five seed.

Speaker 3 (43:07):
Yeah, at that point, maybe we've only had one playoff
game at home potentially. So there you go, breaking ticket news,
we have it for you. We're bringing everything here on
Bison hotlines.

Speaker 4 (43:15):
So there you go.

Speaker 3 (43:16):
You have noon to seven tomorrow if you are part
of that Defend the Dome group, and then season ticket
holders again, you have until five pm on Tuesday. If
you have a season ticket and you don't buy a
ticket to this game, you get your season ticket Repops.

Speaker 4 (43:27):
That's not part of what.

Speaker 3 (43:27):
For NBAC said, but I am we will find you
and we'll get rid of those season tickets if you
don't go to this game. This is a reason for
you to have season tickets. In my mind, I'll know
what else you want.

Speaker 5 (43:37):
We're really going on it here, but I'm sorry as
a fan like I, I got called out by somebody
on X that I had said, Hey, listen, why should
Bison fans have to be goaded into going to these games?
Like talk down to or goaded or convinced. I don't
know what the reason is, and I think everyone's got
their own reason why they don't want to do it.
But how many times if you're like me and you're

(43:57):
a social media addict and you've been looking at your
Facebook memories this last two weeks, how many memories have
you made with NDSU football and NDISU athletics over the
past fifteen years? Why not keep making those memories ten years, one,
ten years from now. Imagine looking back that NDYSU won

(44:18):
on a two point conversion in the third overtime.

Speaker 4 (44:21):
Were you there? Oh? No, I decided not to go. Yeah?

Speaker 3 (44:25):
Why oh, I'm getting worked up at home, Jacob getting
worked up?

Speaker 30 (44:31):
I know?

Speaker 5 (44:32):
And you as a player. This means, this means everything.

Speaker 3 (44:35):
It felt sleepy in the dome today.

Speaker 4 (44:37):
It felt sleepy.

Speaker 7 (44:38):
Guys at their quarter, Bison fans, You guys don't understand.
I think I think some do understand. But like when
you guys are there and we have nineteen thousand in
the dome and I probably played in maybe five six
seven games, that's like guys hanging from the rafters. It
makes a big difference on our energy. The way like
we can scheme up offensively because they can't hear. We

(44:59):
can get the snap count out like it like it,
it's points. It gives us point, it helps us win
the game. And you know, I have full faith we're
gonna show out by the nation and it's gonna be
an unreal environment on Saturday. I mean, it's two of
the best football teams in the country. Don't give me
fcs FBS like, the two teams are gonna be playing
on Saturday are two top forty, two top forty football

(45:21):
teams in the entire United States college football this year.
So at then at the very least, I just come
watch a watch two great football teams. Great programs go out.

Speaker 5 (45:29):
Half of half of the FBS wouldn't schedule either one
of those two teams.

Speaker 4 (45:32):
Have more than a half.

Speaker 5 (45:34):
So yeah, you're you're absolutely right, Jay.

Speaker 3 (45:36):
Yeah, so it's a chance to see a great game.
You know what else, Like if you can't go to
the game, and I understand it's other things going on,
maybe you got traveled, if there's other things. I we
do get that. We are sympathetic to it. Yeah, but again,
if you're a season ticket holder and you can't go
to the game for whatever the reason is, buy the
ticket to make sure a Jack Reber fan doesn't and
find a Bison fan that can go. Maybe the Bison
I can buy it from you or something, But find
someone else that can go. So that's not going to
be a Jack Rebid fan. You know what else the

(45:57):
ticket to that game would be. You're pretty dunk good
early Christmas gift for anybody you're darning right about that?
About a Christmas gift for the Bison fan in your life.
Get them a ticket and go with them and like
you said, create a memory.

Speaker 5 (46:08):
That's that's what it's all allowed.

Speaker 3 (46:09):
Man, Christmas gift. I can leave a lot of things.
They're more expensive than a ticket.

Speaker 4 (46:12):
For sure.

Speaker 5 (46:12):
You got you have forty bucks. That makes a pretty
good gift. How many gifts you got wrapped right now
that are worth forty bucks? Still unwrap? And like, okay,
where's the next one? I guarantee you when they win
in the third overtime and a two point conversion, you
are going to have a kid or a family member
that is going to lose their business because they got
to be there.

Speaker 4 (46:29):
To see it.

Speaker 3 (46:29):
That's a stocking stuffer. If telling you right now, there
for you so again. NDSU next Saturday, eleven o'clock in
the Fargo Dome. If you if you're not there. You're
just missing out at that point. NDSU versus SDSU, It's
going to be a battle of two titans. We'll take
a break, we'll come back more Bison Hotline Live from Applebee's.

Speaker 3 (51:17):
McKay collins said, give me the ball. Let's get a
first down. Reset this thing, go downscore a touchdown, completely
put this game away. Big time grab right there for
McKay collins and Inndysho wins it thirty one to seven
over Mercer. They move on to the semi finals. Of
McKay collins. Because of his big time day four receptions

(51:38):
for one hundred and nineteen yards, he is our Dakota
Refrigeration cool Performer of the Game. The Coda refrigeration helps
athletes succeed behind the scenes, from the training room to
the dining room, from milk to medicine, ice to ice cream.

Maybe take it away from them, but we appreciate the
code of Refrigeration bringing us our cool performer of the
game every week here on bindes An Hotline. Mackay Collins
four receptions, one hundred and nineteen yards and the big
one of seventy yards except the second touchdown. I had
that one as well that I saw take a breath.
Maybe he stopped yell at the reps for half a

(52:21):
second because they screwed up everything there for that brief
moment in time and ends up being the real game
clinching score that will put you up thirty one seven.

Speaker 4 (52:29):
Yeah, that was.

Speaker 7 (52:30):
I've been around college football a lot of watch a
lot College Foople. Great play by Makaya Kaye could play
way to make everyone forget about that.

Speaker 4 (52:36):
But I don't know what those rests are doing.

Speaker 32 (52:38):
That was.

Speaker 5 (52:38):
I've never seen an incomplete pass cost you three yards. Yeah,
it might have been a first. We might have saw
first today at the Fargo down.

Speaker 3 (52:45):
I had the big sky res didn't want to see
NDYASOVERSUS Montana State again. But yeah there is Yeah, you
know Edius two wins at thirty one seven McKay Collins.
Though you have Bryce, we know Roger can really perform
for you. Chris Harris has had some moments. McKay in
there as well. It is going to be I think
it's a fun battle, a good experience and deep secondary
for SDSU against the bevy of wide receivers. That was

(53:07):
an area where it felt like the passing game didn't
get going, but you know, very early, but once it
got to that fourth quarter and the game winning drive
against STSU, the first time they went through the air
a bunch to a bunch of different receivers. Makay is
gonna be one of those guys. I think it's counted
on in NDSU. The aerial attack I think might be
the way to go against the Jacks.

Speaker 5 (53:24):
We talked last week with Brad Jones when he was here.
The three of us had talk do they go into
the just throw the run out to play out of
the window and just pass past pass, go five wide.

Speaker 4 (53:35):
You know a lot of who will ever do that.

Speaker 5 (53:38):
I know they wouldn't, but if there was a game
where you're you're up against somebody who's saying you can't
do what you want to do. It was there that
obviously we saw. The passing game was there, but for
NDSU to stick with it, to keep banging their head
against the wall. They had three point two yards per rush.
That's not great. It's not horrible, but it's not great.
It's below what we want to do. But I would

(54:00):
guarantee they were trying to keep NDCU under one hundred
yards passing today. They didn't succeed in that. This was
never a game that, as we had said, we were
all that threatened by as a as a team Indias
who was and so watching Indias.

Speaker 4 (54:13):
You just take your business.

Speaker 5 (54:14):
Then in the end running it in for the final score,
you know, milking the clock, having that long drive to
just eliminate any questions.

Speaker 3 (54:21):
And even Mercer felt threatened. But it was nice to
get another score and go up three scores.

Speaker 5 (54:25):
Yeah, even Mercer at the end, like, kudos to them.
It's got to be a horrible spot to be in.
They're not calling timeouts. Yeah, they're just letting the clock
run like we're not. This is all It's all okay,
that's it is you got to tip your cap to
that that they that they.

Speaker 3 (54:38):
Were, they them and their seventeen coaches with cutoffs on
the sidelines.

Speaker 5 (54:42):
Dude, that dude has the biggest arms I've ever seen,
Like you want to talk about twenty four inch pythons.
That dude, I don't know who he is.

Speaker 3 (54:49):
But on the field, after playing one of the strength coaching.

Speaker 5 (54:52):
Kramer's got up his game. Man, Come on, Jim, get
your guns out.

Speaker 3 (54:58):
After the put all of a sudden, there's a little
scirmers going on, Like five guys and cutoff shirts are
on the field.

Speaker 4 (55:03):
I'm like, what was happening? It was crazy.

Speaker 3 (55:06):
Mike and Sue Falls giving us a call here on
Byson Hotline. Mike, you're here with us on Buyson Hotline,
and Andy Jake and Chris with you.

Speaker 4 (55:13):
What do you want to talk about?

Speaker 34 (55:15):
Okay, I want to talk about this ticket situation now.
First of all, I don't know if I told Chris this,
but the USD game last year, that whole thing away.

Speaker 30 (55:23):
We hack the ticket system.

Speaker 34 (55:25):
Everybody else got their tickets canceled. Mike from Swue Falls
did not get his tickets canceled, which is the first
thing that I think is pretty funny, and they were
literally just looking at addresses or something.

Speaker 30 (55:35):
But now I need to go on a round.

Speaker 34 (55:37):
I drive every stinking game from Sue Falls. I'm on
my way home right now, and I get up there.

Speaker 29 (55:43):
If people can't fill that.

Speaker 34 (55:45):
Goldener dome for STSU to send them back and make
those whiners go back to Brookies and soak in their beer.

Speaker 4 (55:54):
Suck it.

Speaker 34 (55:55):
Okay, I want to get take them off, take them
behind the wood.

Speaker 1 (55:59):
Shit, just chill those guys.

Speaker 34 (56:02):
Okay, I'm done.

Speaker 3 (56:04):
Okay, make your mike there you go. I was passion
right there, and he's absolutely right. If you can't get
up for this game, that's a man. Drive safely by
the way, Mike. I know the roads are a little
slick right there, so drive safe back there.

Speaker 4 (56:19):
A super false.

Speaker 3 (56:19):
He's absolutely right. If you can't get up for this game,
then I you don't have a pulse. Then you're not
really a Bison fan. You can't get up for this one.
You can't get a ticket to this one. You can't
make sure that you're in a seat instead of a
jack Rabbit fan. And I don't know if you got true.

Speaker 5 (56:31):
I don't know who he wants behind the wood shed
st s U or Bison, you don't buy tickets. I
know there was a wood shed involved, but I'm not sure.

Speaker 3 (56:39):
I don't I know, I don't want to be on
the way. Mike, absolutely, that was the Christmas spirit right there.
From from Mike Bert did text and said need to
buy tickets by seven pm on Sunday. Tickets still, I
believe for a season ticket holders it is going to
be until five o'clock on Tuesday. But yes, if you're
part of the Defend the Dome a group or I'm

(57:01):
gonna call them the coalition, and then it's season ticket
holders anyone's donated to team makers or if you bought
a ticket through the online portal here the first two
playoff games for NDSU, then you have until five pm
tomorrow or seven pm tomorrow, I should say so noon
to seven pm tomorrow to buy those tickets. Get as
many people in there as we can, and then every
season ticket holder buy your tickets. They go on sell

(57:22):
to the general public. I want buys and fans waiting
there at five pm on Tuesday. Finger on the button
to buy as many as you can if you want
part of those two groups and not let jackerbin fans
into Fargo.

Speaker 4 (57:34):
At all costs. That's what we gotta do. We gotta
do it.

Speaker 3 (57:37):
Cannot allow any Blue and Gold to to permeate through
the pargo.

Speaker 5 (57:40):
Looking through the Just furthering this, five thousand different accounts
will be part of the early access ticket purchasing twenty
six hundred season ticket holders, which would be eleven thousand
tickets of each you know bought those twenty four hundred
in the Defend the Dome group. If they would each
buy an average of two tickets, that puts it pretty
close to a sellout number. Students get access to fifteen

(58:01):
hundred tickets tonight and then five hundred more if they
buy that out by tomorrow, then they would open up
more tickets.

Speaker 3 (58:08):
Tickets for students also going on sale tomorrow. So if
you are student listening your tickets on tomorrow, get them tonight, students.

Speaker 5 (58:15):
Tonight tonight, students.

Speaker 3 (58:49):

game tomorrow too. We need more student at the basketball games.

Speaker 4 (58:54):

Speaker 3 (58:54):

student sections are awesome athletics. This is what I lived
for when I was in college. So yeah, get these tickets.

Time for more reaction from today's game Cure again. As
your hosts Andy Rickoff finds.

Speaker 19 (01:04:22):
A twenty in front, they bring a blesch It's new
bound under pressure sack back in the fifty log It
Cop got home on the blenz buys it crop a
house and it pays big huge sack loss of fourteen
and DSU takes over Lady twenty one to seven.

Speaker 3 (01:04:41):
That was one of those almost desperation plays for Mercer
going forward on fourth down and Logan Cop comes on
the blitz. A couple of plays that looked like the
freshman quarterback a Newbauer was a little bit too much
like a freshman, had some trouble with the snaps, a
little bit too nervous, and Ndius who took advantage of
it right there. He bobbled the snap, had pressure in
his face immediately, and Logan Cop, a week after a

(01:05:03):
pick six and a strip sack that he recovered himself,
he comes up with a huge sack right there to
get the turnover. On downs. Cop has been a beast
in these playoffs.

Speaker 4 (01:05:11):
Yeah, he's been good cop lately.

Speaker 7 (01:05:13):
Got back just to joke with him, like when you
make a bad cop or a good cop good cop.

Speaker 3 (01:05:18):
But I don't think he gets mad. Does he know
he's He's really just a super nice He's.

Speaker 4 (01:05:22):
A happy dude.

Speaker 7 (01:05:23):
Yeah, but no, he's been playing at extremely high level.
And like you said, just we just need these guys
that start stacking good games. We know what's coming up
next week, have a good week of practice. There's gonna
be no lack of energy next week, which sometimes can
you can it can be a bad thing, but just
channel it in and as long as you know logan
cop Nick kubits ENO's been playing great, Marcus Gully, I'm

(01:05:47):
just I'm so excited for next week.

Speaker 4 (01:05:48):
I just I can't wait.

Speaker 5 (01:05:49):
You miss it?

Speaker 4 (01:05:50):
I do? Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:05:51):
Yeah, this is one of those games which you put
the pads back on, right, like you don't have the
bumps on.

Speaker 5 (01:05:55):
I don't have one more game of Eligibile And are
you positive?

Speaker 4 (01:05:58):
Yeah, I'll talk to Colleen here.

Speaker 3 (01:05:59):
Yeah, one game is all we really need. I think
you were really just upset we didn't get the the
Oklahoma drill.

Speaker 4 (01:06:05):
Yeah, if you want to put on take hands.

Speaker 5 (01:06:07):
It's been about thirty years since I even thought about
having to run one of those, and against you, I
don't think I want any part of that.

Speaker 4 (01:06:14):
Done it for a while either, it's been a year.

Speaker 3 (01:06:17):
So sixteen thousand on Saturday, we're doing it next.

Speaker 4 (01:06:21):
I try. I was hoping we could beget that. I try. Oh.

Speaker 3 (01:06:24):
We did have this text come in from Nick from
Oregon again, text line open for you seven zero one
four seven six sixteen sixty CENTA. Stats are actually pretty
similar to the Mercer Alabama game, not in total but
in the per attempt. That's Nick from Newburgh out there
in Oregon. I'll take your word for it, Nick, and
we're not gonna go back and check the stats for
Alabama in the game. As coach Paul Sick himself said,

(01:06:45):
didn't watch a second of that film, right, I don't
think we needed to see anything. What I'll say about
Mercers they came in is number one run defense. NDSU
ran it, not like amazing, but they ran it just fine,
and they had well over one hundred yards and I
think the NDSU's offense was able to move the ball
just fine for the most part against Mercer. It is
really that third quarter where everything slowed down. I felt

(01:07:06):
like we were all kind of in a little bit
of quick sand and a.

Speaker 4 (01:07:09):
Little bit of a lull.

Speaker 7 (01:07:11):
Yeah, I mean I thought mercery. They came in and
they played. They had their game.

Speaker 3 (01:07:14):
Play, defensive lines, legit, their defensive line.

Speaker 7 (01:07:16):
They were gonna slant, they were gonna move up front,
and they knew that was gonna cause us issues and
it did. They executed well, and you know, hats off
to them. I think they're very respectful program. I were
were talking earlier at the end of the game like
they very easily could have called timeouts and to spend, like, oh,
we're gonna just kind of be a thorn. And the
NDSU side like, nope, we played four quarter game. You
guys beat us. They're gonna be a good program. They
got a good young coach program on their eyes.

Speaker 3 (01:07:37):
See what the challenge right now in the FCS is
really the portal. Right, So we already seen like Abiline
Christians quarterback into the portal. I know, Hoos quarterback. They
went into the portal. Their coach left as well, Jason
Nett going to New Mexico. So these teams were hoping
for another team to come up in the FCS. Somebody
be a legitimate challenger, you know, Abiline Christian Can they
I don't know. We'll see what Mercer. Can Mercer do
this consistently? They're gonna lose a lot of talent from

(01:07:59):
this team, a lot seniors. Can they do it again
next year? What to wait and see? Someone's got to
be consistent to get to this level at least be
like Sam Houston was before, Jacksonville State was.

Speaker 5 (01:08:09):
Before, right, But at the same time saying that, then
also looking at if you want to mirror what's going
on with the College Football Playoff with looking at the
teams that are there, like it's Alabama's the only thing
that's not a part of it, that's been a part
of it, right, So they're on the outside looking in.
But at the same time, when you have four or
five dominant schools, which is what i'd call the final

(01:08:30):
four that are left for the semi final game UC Davis,
I think because of where they are, we don't see
a lot of them, Like, you know, they weren't probably
going to give USD a big run. But we have
seen Montana State, we have seen USD, we have seen
SDSU and obviously know what the Bison have to bring.
You have four dominant teams that have been there all

(01:08:50):
year long, Right, so how long has it been where
in college football it's Alabama, it's Georgia, Ohio State, Clemson, Michigan,
maybe you know when they.

Speaker 3 (01:09:00):
Wrote a dame once every three or four years.

Speaker 5 (01:09:02):
But for the most part of it, you're looking at
four or five teams who legitimately have the shot to win.
So I don't think it's that different of a look
to say that, Yeah, the past ten years there's maybe
only been four teams that were really gonna win the
FCS championship. I think it's exactly the same as what
it is in FBIA.

Speaker 3 (01:09:19):
Now this year, at the it's more wide open.

Speaker 4 (01:09:21):
Yeah, and we'll see this year, you know, we'll.

Speaker 5 (01:09:23):
See what the bigger playoff looks like.

Speaker 7 (01:09:24):
If a twelve seed can upset something like But you know,
if it comes down to we're sitting in the semi
finals and you got Georgia Texas.

Speaker 5 (01:09:33):
Yeah, like, why did we bother making it twelve when
we still got the same four?

Speaker 7 (01:09:38):
As long if they're close games, good games, that'd be good.
But if some of these first round games or second
like the second round and quarterfinals or blowouts in the
college football and then be like, oh, well, right back
to where we started, Right back to where we started.
We just made more money for the TV. Yeah, and
the TV the TV, right.

Speaker 3 (01:09:54):
I think it's good. I think this year is a
good reason to have it. Got Arizona State in their
boys and state and their teams wouldn't have expected most
of the time we will steal they hold up once
you actually get to some of the games. We did
have a couple other text messages come in. One of
them from Pete in Fergus Falls. He has to take
as many cups as you want. We're getting a free
cups here, free NDSU tailgating cups here at Applebe's. We
also giving away tickets to NDSU men's basketball tomorrow. Just

(01:10:16):
gotta sign up for those ones. NDSU men's basketball tomorrow
one o'clock against Western Michigan. Sign up in the bar area.
Will draw for those tickets here at the end of
the show. Another text message that came in was from
Pete and Fergus Falls, who is a.

Speaker 4 (01:10:29):
Jack Erberts fan.

Speaker 3 (01:10:30):
Okay, I'm gonna let you guys know that before he
texted sometimes before, and he said NDSU coach swearing on
national television not a very good look. Coaches can't do that.

Speaker 4 (01:10:41):
Oh, let me tell you, Pete. Coach Rodgers a little bit.

Speaker 7 (01:10:45):
I've spent a little of time with them now that
I'm a high school coach, had some coaching clinics and yeah,
you just you worry about yourself there.

Speaker 3 (01:10:51):
Yeah, I think you your coach done there, does a
little bit your coach before Jimmy Rodgers, Well.

Speaker 4 (01:10:58):
Actually coach coach Stick didn't.

Speaker 5 (01:11:00):
No, he didn't swear.

Speaker 7 (01:11:03):
I didn't know, coach, but I yeah, find me a
college football coaching staff that doesn't swear at all.

Speaker 30 (01:11:08):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (01:11:09):
I don't know.

Speaker 7 (01:11:10):
Run an Oklahoma MA drill against Chris I don't know
where that was going. But it doesn't happen.

Speaker 3 (01:11:13):
Well yeah, maybe not the swearing part, but some other
things as well. It's college football. Yeah, trust me, Jimmy
Rodgers swears too. So there you go, looking forward to
this matchup. He was good to hear from you. I
didn't hear from me after NDSU beat SDSU this year,
So thanks for the text. We do have a couple
others that have come in here as well. I says,
how do you guys think we'll play against SDSU? I
think we win, But what are your guys' thoughts? I
think a little bit of trepidation in the voice right

(01:11:36):
there through the text message from one of our fans
texting in from North Dakota.

Speaker 4 (01:11:40):
Yeah, I mean it's just tough.

Speaker 7 (01:11:41):
You got too really well coached teams, physical teams that
aren't go out there. And like Chris was saying earlier,
like the game, we played each other every year, at
least every season for the past I don't know, twenty years.

Speaker 4 (01:11:54):
I don't know how many.

Speaker 3 (01:11:55):
How many regular season matchups?

Speaker 7 (01:11:57):
How many times in the past, how's STSU and play?
And twenty plus exactly and sometimes mousti times a year.
So these teams, the schemes.

Speaker 3 (01:12:05):
But a lot of quarterfinal matchups that are really national championships.

Speaker 4 (01:12:08):
They know what we're gonna do, we know what they're
gonna do. It's gonna come down.

Speaker 7 (01:12:11):
You know your big time playmakers, Cam Miller, Markroanowski, you know,
Tucker Large, Logan cop you at Mostart Will the Ecelance
who's gonna make more players? And that'ss come down in
a game like that because they're so even match teams.
We know, like, no one's gonna outscheme each other. Yeah,
it's just not gonna happen.

Speaker 5 (01:12:28):
And and like you'd mentioned those quarterfinal games, whether it
was against you and I had won one year against NDSU,
I think in a semi final game where you had
the feeling this was the national championship game, wasn't it. Yeah,
I don't think you have that feeling because of that
win by USD at the end of the year. Now
going out to Bozeman to take on Montage.

Speaker 3 (01:12:48):
It's undefeated, and they look good.

Speaker 5 (01:12:51):
They looked Tommy a Lot looked really good. They look good,
their defense looked good. I don't think that this is
the national championship game. I think we just let it
kind of just be.

Speaker 3 (01:13:00):
I think it's worthy of a national championship game, but
the National Championship will also be worthy.

Speaker 4 (01:13:04):
Would you rather.

Speaker 5 (01:13:05):
Play in the Natty against them in Frisco or a
semi in Fargo?

Speaker 4 (01:13:10):
I don't be Fargo. We kind of talked about this when.

Speaker 5 (01:13:13):
I take that time nine times, I take the home
field a semi final to get to the championship game.
Didn't have to play them on a neutral site. Kind
of a situation, bring them here, let's go for it.

Speaker 3 (01:13:24):
Yeah, you're you're gonna have to face them at some
point then, yeah, I want to face them here rather
than anywhere else. And the fargo to home and see
if they can swim, and said, what should be a
hostile environment? So by the tickets, better be better environment?
Better better be a hostile environment. Yeah you like eggs,
there's another one. Yeah, breakfast with the Bison next Saturday

(01:13:45):
eleven o'clock and the s U against SDSU. If you
can't get up for that game, then you're just not
getting up for buys football games. We did want to
go through our jiffy Lupafargo's scoreboard here quickly in this segment,
so we already mentioned STSU has moved on to next week.
They had a game today against in Cornertor, who had
a chance to beat them earlier this year was a
one score game in the fourth quarterback in September. But
now the word was coming up to Brookings in the

(01:14:07):
winter and they had a chance again in this game.
They were down seven to nothing. They went forward on
a fourth and two from the seven yard line, didn't
get it, and it felt like that really turned the
momentum in a big way. SDSU took it and ran
with it. The entire game after that ends up being
a fifty five fourteen victory.

Speaker 4 (01:14:24):
There over Incarnate Word.

Speaker 3 (01:14:26):
They scored twenty four points alone in the second quarter
of the Jacks all rolling right now. Lamar Johnson eighteen
carries one hundred and thirty two yards.

Speaker 4 (01:14:34):
Yeah, they're South Coast State. It's kind of they're playing
really well, right they found their mojo a little bit.

Speaker 7 (01:14:38):
Mark Garanowski throw into Griffin Wildie, the Sioux Falls kid.
You know it's gonna be a battle, it's gonna be
a really good game, and you know that's what you want.
Like when you get recruited to come down NECU, they
tell you you're gonna play four championships.

Speaker 4 (01:14:49):
You're gonna play in championships.

Speaker 7 (01:14:51):
You get recruited to come to this institution because of
games like this, Like, yeah, I've beaten teams winning the
quarterfound game. You come to play South Coast State, South Dakota,
Montana State, Montagne. That's why. That's why you play this game.
I know the guys are gonna be pumped up and
ready to go.

Speaker 5 (01:15:04):
Yeah, and I love that because of that win earlier
this season. This game will not be in Brookings, this
game will not be in Bozeman. This game will not
be anywhere else then at the Fargo Dome. That in
two and you want to have that home field advantage,
and there's one way to get that is to have
your fans be there.

Speaker 3 (01:15:19):
And has never lost at home in the playoffs toast SEC.
There you go knocking as we say that.

Speaker 5 (01:15:28):
This game, Man will give you a moment, got a chance.

Speaker 3 (01:15:30):
Let's break that. We'll break down that game a little
bit later on the next sement, will break down that game.
And I think where both teams have gone since the
regular season matchup earlier this year. Other games today and
the one yesterday. How about Montana State beat Idaho last
night fifty two to nineteen the final there Idaho going
for it on the on side kick that was an
absolute failure, didn't even go ten yards. A fake punt
where they threw it to a guy and he just

(01:15:51):
fell down short of the line to gain That really
did in the Vandals and then their head coach and
now like five players have entered the portal since then.
Their head coach, Jason that leaving for New Mexico, fifty
two to nineteen. Montana State wins that one. Tommy m
allot one hundred and thirty one yards and a touchdown
on the ground alone.

Speaker 4 (01:16:08):
He looks good. They look good. Yeah, I have nightmares
of that guy sometimes.

Speaker 5 (01:16:12):
Well mainly because you broke his leg that hapened.

Speaker 4 (01:16:15):
You should should feel some remorse.

Speaker 3 (01:16:19):
But he is doing good now. Tennesse State's really good.
They got two headed monster at running back. They got
Brody Greedy in the middle of that defensive line or
that defense, and they are going to be a very
tough up for anybody that has to face them.

Speaker 4 (01:16:28):
And they do.

Speaker 3 (01:16:29):
You see with Brent Vegan, former Bison coach, like they
are on a different level this year. Maybe the Bozeman
block was kind of their Brock Jensen non fumble against
the Eastern Washington. It kind of propels something in them.

Speaker 5 (01:16:38):
Yeah, they looked good last night watching that game that
Idaho looked good for about what about ten minutes a
game time, about thirty five minutes of actual real Look,
they looked really good ten ten And you don't get
that on sidekick. You're coaching like a guy who's about
to be hitting the exit as soon as this game is.

Speaker 3 (01:16:57):
Over and then he was going somewhere else and said,
I'm gonna unload the.

Speaker 5 (01:17:00):
Which and he had said that right the commentator's license
last night had said that that he had told them
that leading into the week, and special teams were gonna
do some stuff like you got to throw everything against
yep and it obviously didn't work.

Speaker 3 (01:17:13):
It didn't work. All you could go for it, but
the kicks got at least go ten yards. I mean,
that's execute that thing a little bit better, get it
to go more thre it only went five yards, much
less the ten that it had to go. And then
South Dakota wins today against UC Davis thirty five twenty one.
It was a one score game earlier on in that
fourth quarter, but USD got the touchdown there late Travis
Tye's second rushing touchdown. He goes for eighty six yards
and two scores on the ground, and they went thirty

(01:17:36):
five to twenty one in a game that totaled nine turnovers,
six of them from UC Davis, three from USD. Usually
you don't win a playoff game with three turnovers, but
you do if you four six from the other team.
That was a sloppy one, but a win for the Coyotes.

Speaker 7 (01:17:51):
And I was looking at that like to be a
coach or player at UC Davis now, and you kind
of look, Okay, we lost by fourteen points, so we
gave them six extra possessions.

Speaker 3 (01:17:59):
Land and by the way, their star running back went
out I believe early second quarter didn't return.

Speaker 7 (01:18:04):
That's just tough, and it's just those That's one of
the things too, Like when you lose a football game,
you want to say, oh, like, we went out there,
we played our best game, we went total toe and
they just beat us. For UC Davis, obviously, South d
Coost is a great opponent, good team.

Speaker 4 (01:18:16):
I think you go. You're out there on the flight
right now saying, dang, like we turned the ball over.
I couldn't we have our guy?

Speaker 7 (01:18:21):
Yeah, not even the guy, but just turn if we
turned that ball over three times, did we win it?

Speaker 4 (01:18:26):
We might win that. Yeah, that's tough.

Speaker 5 (01:18:28):
That was my only upset. There was going to be
anywhere near close to happening this weekend. So I thought,
if there was one of the games, you see Davis
just because of so many people didn't because of where
they're at. I said this earlier, because you don't watch
them play. You don't know much about them. Are they
that good? They playing the Big Sky? Think, yeah, okay,
big Sky. I got a bunch of teams in the playoffs.
Oh they must be really good. You're like, you put

(01:18:49):
a bunch of doubt on that team and then you
go in and you have a chance to do it
and you stay within ten for most of the game.

Speaker 4 (01:18:54):
Uh.

Speaker 5 (01:18:55):
Disappointing to see UC Davis not be able to play
a little bit better, But obviously chalk held. One through
four are the four teams that are left no surprise.

Speaker 4 (01:19:05):
Also credit to USD.

Speaker 3 (01:19:06):
We said last year at this point, when we had
beaten them in the quarters at their place, crushed them,
we said, good year, you beat us at our place.
He had a good year. Whether they have three seed last.

Speaker 4 (01:19:14):
Year, well done.

Speaker 3 (01:19:15):
Let's see you do it again, like back this thing
that you made the plass before and then you've had
a bad year. Credit to them, they backed it up
and now they having any even better year this year,
going further in the playoffs than they did last year.
It's gonna lead them to going out to Bozeman against
Montana State. But credit to USD looks like another true contender.
I think at the FCS level.

Speaker 5 (01:19:32):
They're able to run the ball. Anything could happen.

Speaker 3 (01:19:34):
Yeah, and the it's not the run too.

Speaker 5 (01:19:35):
If you control the ball and you can hold onto
the ball out there for you know, twenty five thirty
minutes of that game, you're gonna have a real chance
to win.

Speaker 3 (01:19:42):
Defense travels and they do have a defense. Ask both
of you percent chance they take down the Bobcats in Bozeman.
That's gonna be a two thirty kick in the cold.

Speaker 4 (01:19:53):
But they're not.

Speaker 7 (01:19:53):
If cold's fine, didn't look all that cold there, last
nag would be fine.

Speaker 4 (01:19:58):
Chance. What do you think? What do you think? I
would say thirty five percent chance?

Speaker 5 (01:20:02):
I was gonna say about twenty five so one.

Speaker 3 (01:20:04):
Of every four, one of every three somewhere around there.

Speaker 4 (01:20:06):
Yeah, yeah, I mean they got a chance, puncher's chance.

Speaker 5 (01:20:08):
When you're the underdog, you have to usually have things
go your way. Something's gonna have to happen to go
your way.

Speaker 3 (01:20:13):
I will say this, if you're a tie ten to ten,
you have some momentum. Don't do an onside.

Speaker 4 (01:20:16):
Please don't do the on side.

Speaker 3 (01:20:17):
If you're the I always think if you're the underdog,
I know you got to be aggressive, I steal a
possession or something, but your number one goal is to
get that to be a game, a one score game
in the fourth quarter. Get it to the fourth quarter
with you have any chance with the lead, or even
a chance to win if you're down three, if you're
down seven, get to the fourth quarter, and then at
that point, ultra aggressive, whatever you gotta do to win.

Speaker 7 (01:20:36):
With that, And like you said, with their run game,
like with Tys, they're gonna be able to control time possession.
I think their defense is gonna be good enough to
get Charles Pierre and Charles Pierre. Yeah, I think their
defense is get strong enough to be able to get
stops and they'll get Montana State out the field.

Speaker 4 (01:20:47):
So you know, if in Bowman can.

Speaker 7 (01:20:51):
Not throw a bat in your something like, yeah, they
can't have three or they can't have three turnovers against
Montana State, and I might go to forty percent.

Speaker 4 (01:20:57):
I can see South one.

Speaker 3 (01:21:00):
I'm gonna say this, they were a playowight then probably
should have beat STDSU and they beat nd s U,
so they can.

Speaker 5 (01:21:04):
Beat I'm gonna say this. I want them to win.
I want us to win. I want another rematch.

Speaker 3 (01:21:08):
Yeah, yeah, right, Frisco. Let's let's be something.

Speaker 5 (01:21:11):
Yeah, let's let's put the title on the line for
the f c S and the Missouri Valley all the
chips in the middle, we get all of them.

Speaker 4 (01:21:18):
It's all or nothing. What do you say?

Speaker 3 (01:21:19):
A chance to take on the other two teams you
tied for the conference chances you.

Speaker 5 (01:21:23):
Would have beaten SDSU and then you would have beat
the OS in the national championship game. That unifies the title.
That's a w B O, that's a WBC. We're putting
the title together. It's a welterweight, it's middleweight, uh whatever else?

Speaker 4 (01:21:38):
Featherweight? Yeah, you think of that, all the weights. I
like it. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:21:41):
I like the they can go there and win. I
do think Montana is playing a different level. I don't
want to act. It's gonna looks pretty tough. It's nice
that I think the USD has some players on the
secondary they can trust a little bit one on one,
so they can commit another number to to trying to
maybe a spy or you do what you can to
slow down to Tommy on the ground and their Russian attack.
That should be a pretty fun game there next week

(01:27:52):
the call. What do you want to talk about?

Speaker 22 (01:27:54):
Hey, guys, UH probably missed the party on this and
I apologize. But Andy and Sam have connections across the
country anyway that you guys can try to find out
or do research as far as who assigns these officiating
crews for the for the collegian games in the FCS.
I thought that crew today the last two weeks has

(01:28:15):
been unacceptable as far as how they've handled themselves, especially
today when they blew that play on third down when
it was supposed to be third and seven. Then they
basically sold themselves out when it was third and ten.
So I just want to find out that you guys
can do some type of research and get somebody on
to find out how they get these crews into the
postseason and what their credentials are.

Speaker 30 (01:28:36):
Thanks Case, Yeah, no, thank you, Jerry.

Speaker 3 (01:28:39):
We've talked about it a little bit today throughout the show. Yeah,
I mean we joke about it because NDUSU won because
they ended up getting a first bunce that really didn't matter.
But it is also unacceptable. But you can't you can't
mess something up that badly. Well, you just shorter team
three yards on a play, you turn a third and seven,
which is still a somewhat manageable right to a third
and ten, which that's like a different situation for Jake

(01:29:01):
Landry and the play caller.

Speaker 7 (01:29:02):
Yeah, I just like, obviously, like you said, we ended
up winning the game. We converted it nothing like it
was whatever, could you imagine just in with the landscape
of athletic just sports in general right now, with you know,
you talk about Vegas and just how modernized and betting
on games, if something like that were to happen, and
say a bigger.

Speaker 3 (01:29:21):
Game like one score game, you're on the seven yard line,
put you.

Speaker 7 (01:29:25):
Back to that, like I don't, I don't, and we
had ABC there, like any issues we have replay officials
like I just I don't understand how that can be allowed.
I'm guessing that officiating crew is gonna be like they'll
get reprimanded.

Speaker 3 (01:29:38):
For that and they'll get docked. You know, there's a
grading system for all reps. I will say that it
was a big Sky crew in case we didn't know
what I had heard that it was a big Sky
crew the way it kind.

Speaker 4 (01:29:47):
Of works and all the specifics for you.

Speaker 3 (01:29:49):
But you're gonna have a refereeing crew from a conference
that's not represented in the games. Wasn't gonna be a
Valley crew, wasn't going to be a Soulcon crew. Those
are your two conferences that the team's represented. I had
a Missouri Valley crew last night out there, and those
men for that game with two big Sky teams as well,
and at this point there's only four games. It is
considered based off the grading says some of the best
group from whatever conference it is, and it's not now.

(01:30:11):
Not every conference had a Cruise still alive at this point.
Right we only had four games. We have more than
four conferences, but it is considered to be the best
group from whatever conference that they are representing. I doubt
this group is going to be continuing on to the
semi finals or anything. It doesn't help for them that
there is a big Sky team involved, so they can't
be doing anything with Montana State, right. The Valley crew can't.

(01:30:31):
They're done because there's a Valley team in every game
here the rest of the way, no matter what happens.
But you're gonna have different crews and they pick them
based off their grading system throughout the entire year. I
don't know who those people are that are grading them
how they grade them, but yeah, tonight, that not the
whole entire game, but that moment is unacceptable, and I
do think they missed a number of holding calls. I
thought Mercer's offensive line there's points they had arms wrapped

(01:30:54):
around guys and there is no culping Yeah, paulse almost
that's what he got us warning he was asking for
the holdings.

Speaker 5 (01:31:02):
He was showing some teeth. Yeah points as far as
so last night watching the broadcast, which clayon Matfick is
one of my favorites, Like he's like a small yeah,
small time guy who has done a lot of NDSU
games on ESPN. He's done a lot of NDSU basketball
games and the Summer League tournament when they've made the championship.

Speaker 6 (01:31:22):
Uh.

Speaker 5 (01:31:23):
And Clay's super awesome And he had pointed out last
night that and I'll take his word for it that
they are absolutely this is the best, the best conference
crew that they can put together for each conference. Now,
I don't know if that means maybe this is a
crew that hasn't worked together.

Speaker 3 (01:31:41):
I don't cruise work throughout the playoffs at the very least, right, Yes,
but I don't know if they're I don't know if
they grabbed four from this crew and four from that
crew and then two from over here.

Speaker 5 (01:31:49):
I don't know that in full disclosure on that. But
what I would say then that might lead to you
had a lot of different discussions about well, why what
do you have written down? Because they all write it down.
They all keep track of what's going on on every play, right,
likes at all that there are so many different things
that seem to be missed in that one particular instance. Obviously,

(01:32:10):
it's so many people that could have gotten it right.
And then I respect that they had said, hey, listen,
we're working on it. We're gonna checkle the replay to
make sure we're right because something they patient they knew
that they were there was something amiss. But then what
really gets weird is that they asked somebody else who
had all the tech because they're out there, they don't
have phones, they can't look it up, they can't do
any of that. But then they go to the people

(01:32:31):
who do have that stuff in front of them, and
they still couldn't get it right. That's what's so mind about.
I don't mind them missing it on the field if
they just said we're gonna play it, this is what
we're doing, all right, let's go, but then to take
the time and actually have it looked at because somebody
buzzed down and told them right away. That's incomplete third
down because that happened almost immediately because right both seasons

(01:32:54):
and then both teams started to their sides and next
you know, they're blowing their whistle. No after review it
was an incomplete pass, and started blowing like we're going
back to it.

Speaker 7 (01:33:02):
And I didn't even realize what was going on. I
saw that we call it complete and then Noah gindor
sand in my left and he starts, He's like, why
is it third and ten? Why is the third and ten?
I'm like, oh crap, you're right, it should be third
and seven. Amazing, and then politics for you, yeah it was.

Speaker 3 (01:33:15):
You not remember it was second and seven a play ago.

Speaker 4 (01:33:17):
Yeah, I've never seen anything like it. We probably will
never see something like it again, hopefully.

Speaker 3 (01:33:21):
Now they had moved the ball because originally they called
it a complete pass. Now you're moving it from that
seventh spot to something else, and I remember where to
move it back and with the down was so there
are the things to go into it, but yeah, you
can't get.

Speaker 5 (01:33:30):
There, and then you you just can't. You've got the
like the chain gang, Hey guy who just moved? Where
were you just standing?

Speaker 3 (01:33:35):
Yeah, like you can look at that so many different
I mean, there's so many.

Speaker 5 (01:33:39):
Different things that like how did that all come? It's crazy,
but you can laugh about it now and look at
it like, Wow, that was really something. But I mean,
if that happens in a uh Tim poul Sick's head
might explode. Yeah, I feel sorry for Jill because she
would no longer have a husband because it would he
would just lose his mind.

Speaker 4 (01:33:57):
And just combusts. Yeah, and rightfully.

Speaker 3 (01:34:00):
So, we do have another text in here from Tadak
the Polish bias and says, hello, gentlemen, code green won
the game for us as the offense disappeared in that
second half. We need to play a complete game against
the bunnies if you want to win. By the way,
I couldn't believe what the rest were doing today. Yeah,
there's another one from Taek neither could we on that one,
as you just heard from us the Polish bys and
Tadak there with the text in Yeah, there was that

(01:34:23):
lull and we were talking about wanting to get such
a fast start, right that was the buzzword.

Speaker 4 (01:34:27):
We gotta start fast. I gotta start.

Speaker 3 (01:34:29):
Quicker man fourteen to nothing with two three and ounce
and two touchdowns in the first five and a half minutes.
It can't start much quicker than that. But then yeah,
went into a lull, had some punts, had the interception
by Cam on the first half and another one in
the second half.

Speaker 4 (01:34:41):
Yeah, and didn't move.

Speaker 3 (01:34:42):
I don't know there were three and ounce, but there's
be like a one first down and then a punt
type of situation. Weren't really getting consistent offense?

Speaker 4 (01:34:49):
Yeah, how much?

Speaker 5 (01:34:51):
And I'm going to give that third quarter lull to
adjustments because obviously change teams are going to look at
what they've done, what has been successful, whatnot. How much
that Jake goes into we are going to change this
of what we're doing to make them do something different,
versus let's see if they do something different and then
we're gonna.

Speaker 4 (01:35:11):
React to that.

Speaker 5 (01:35:12):
You know what does that I don't know if that
even makes an interesting because are you making chess moves
to see what they're going to do or how does
that work with adjustments coming out.

Speaker 4 (01:35:20):
We're just football players. We're not that smart.

Speaker 7 (01:35:22):
Okay, Well, so when you're going to make adjustments at halftime,
so be like, okay, even today and their offensive scheme
pin poll, g play tight end, blocks, down tackle poll,
guard poll. That's how they're kind of getting to the
outside of the list. So I know, Ge and the
guys wh in a halftime like, Okay, how are we
gonna stop this play put our? Because obviously if it's
working for them, they'd be their coach. You get fired
if they don't go back to it. Sure, so you

(01:35:44):
go in and you're like, Okay, this is what they're
hurting us on. This is how we're gonna make our
adjustment to it. It's it's not like, Okay, they've been
running g they think this is what we're gonna do
against that. This is what they're gonna do, and then
we're gonna do.

Speaker 4 (01:35:54):
That to combat that. That's a little bit.

Speaker 5 (01:35:56):
That's too many les, that's a little bit too much.

Speaker 4 (01:35:58):
Okay.

Speaker 3 (01:35:58):
Yeah, So just kind of so to just say I
know that, you know because I know that you know that,
I know that you know that.

Speaker 5 (01:36:04):
Did you think that it looked like in the third
quarter both teams were kind of making those adjustments on
the fly, and it looked like both of them were
doing things that were working on defense more than it
went into a lull. Like God, you always got to
remember the other teams do whenever they can to stop
you from.

Speaker 3 (01:36:17):
Scoring another thing too. I think typically we you know
what we see with ndascu. Is you weird on a
team by the fourth quarter? Right, Yeah, Well, one thing
that's very interesting about Mercer and why they were so good.
They're rotating d lineman the entire game. They got eight
nine guys they're rotating up there, so they stayed fresher
and I think fourth quarter were used to like we
just imposed our well, here we go the four yard
game or the two yard game turns into five, didn't

(01:36:38):
it just didn't. They were good up front, give them credit.

Speaker 7 (01:36:40):
Yeah, And then to Chris's point too, I think offenses
always kind of have the upper advantage coming out of
the gate in the beginning of the game, like they'll
have their first ten or so plays scripted.

Speaker 4 (01:36:48):
They know what they're gonna do, they're gonna try escort.

Speaker 7 (01:36:50):
They've seen what your defense has done in weeks prior,
and then once you kind of go in a halftime,
you can flip that right. Then defense can adjust to
what the offense has been doing, and then it goes
to the defense. I think, you know, like some of
these NFL teams on college teams, like they're like if
you look at like NYSU with the same way, like
how many we score it on our first like thirteen weeks,
on our first drive of the game. That's because you know,

(01:37:11):
coach Landry, coach Paulisak are scheming up the defense we're
going to see. And they go out and they have
their first ten like NDSU every week, their first ten plays,
they know to play on Friday and they know what
they're doing on Friday night.

Speaker 5 (01:37:21):
They almost don't even need to call them, like everyone
knows what the order is going to be this well.

Speaker 7 (01:37:24):
Were they're gonna boom boom because we're like this that
they're doing here. So you kind of you script your
first ten or so plays every week.

Speaker 5 (01:37:30):
Okay, yeah, it's to me. And that lull was real,
Like it was just we had that feeling like, wow,
if they could find a way to push through this,
Mercer might be able to make a game of this
year in.

Speaker 4 (01:37:40):
The second half if they break one right.

Speaker 5 (01:37:42):
It's not like they were down thirty eight to seven
or something ridiculous, you know, coming out a halftime.

Speaker 3 (01:37:47):
And four seven that they had deferred or that they were.

Speaker 5 (01:37:50):
They knew that India CU was going to be getting
the ball. So it's like, okay, we got to come
out on defense. We got to make sure we get
a stop on defense, you know, and then it kind
of steam rolls from there, Like you said, build play
on play, but they just couldn't with their offense.

Speaker 3 (01:38:02):
The offense just couldn't get it to be a defensive lineman.
They're like, man, we're getting stops against these guys.

Speaker 5 (01:38:06):
Hey, guys, would you mind scoring you know, back.

Speaker 3 (01:38:09):
Out of two minutes later because we can't do anything
on offense. Another couple of text messages will get to
these ones quickly, Darla Jean, who's kind of like the
mother of the boys, and I kind of say, I said,
since it's graduation Friday, maybe there needs to be incentive
for those parents to stay in town for the game.
And let's hope that there's not too much celebrating Friday
night boys with the early game on Saturday. Yes, I'm

(01:38:29):
both of those. I think one, there's gonna be plenty
of incentive for the parents to stick around with a
playoff game. I think they will be sticking around, no
issues there. And then yeah, no celebrating on Friday night.
If you're a fan, go for it.

Speaker 4 (01:38:39):
Yeah going make sure you got your alarm clock set
earlier so you don't get through it.

Speaker 3 (01:38:43):
We don't just keep that thing going. Chris was all,
you know, we need twelve hours to get ready.

Speaker 4 (01:38:47):
Well, I was a night before. I was in Vegas
this week, and I was is a fight because I
didn't play that right.

Speaker 5 (01:38:51):
Oh yeah, I was gonna say, how was the NFR.

Speaker 4 (01:38:53):
It was awesome. You have a blast.

Speaker 7 (01:38:54):
Oh my gosh, we'll talk about a great event to
go in Las Vegas down for the National Fowls Rodeo.

Speaker 5 (01:38:58):
It's pretty cool, okay, now that we're really shooting off
in the dark. But I knew that's right as soon
as you said, oh, he was just in Vegas. He
did survive any crabs, any blackjack?

Speaker 4 (01:39:09):
What do you crabs? Blackjack? Slots? Nice pie? Gow all
for it. We'll start it. We'll start our gambling podcast.

Speaker 3 (01:39:21):
And CEC in the Lakes Area, by the way, congratulations,
everyone's going to graduate on Friday too.

Speaker 2 (01:39:25):
There.

Speaker 3 (01:39:26):
Cec in the Lakes Area says, why are we snapping
the ball of fifteen and ten seconds left on the
plate clock? In the fourth brock Jensen's rolling over in
his grave. Thankfully, brock Jenson's not in a grave. Methodically,
of course, though, I just didn't get it from CC
in the Lakes area. What do you guys see there?
I know I was actually on my way over here
to Apple beeause I didn't see as.

Speaker 4 (01:39:44):
Much of that. I guess.

Speaker 5 (01:39:46):
Yeah, at the very end in the last that final
touchdown drive, I know that it had gotten better.

Speaker 4 (01:39:50):
But before that it was, yeah, snapping in a.

Speaker 3 (01:39:52):
Little early, but that was completely running the clock out
at the start.

Speaker 4 (01:39:56):
Of the fourth. I like that though, because we needed
a couple more points there in the fourth.

Speaker 5 (01:40:00):
I would agree at least one field goal, I think,
I literally like, I just think back to those days
of brock Jensen. Like I think brock Jensen gets out
of bed, the clock starts ticking. He slowly makes his
way into the kitchen. He knows exactly what he's doing.
He opens the cuvener cabinet door so slowly grabs his
favorite mug and like hits the thing right as it

(01:40:21):
starts dripping into the model like boom right?

Speaker 4 (01:40:24):
Is it like that?

Speaker 5 (01:40:25):
Dude had an innate skill to be able to do that.
And because you do have to slow yourself down, you
have to do it as a like you have to
be very cognizant of what's going on. Obviously, the offensive lineman.
They have to slow like it's such a work to
do that, to snap it as they did so famously
in all those different years. And that's not something that

(01:40:49):
is the fourth quarter? Is that work done like to
that point where you are simply you were really squeezing
everything out.

Speaker 7 (01:40:57):
Yeah, just kind of like the k And so you know,
every quarter that kind of has their own like you'll
see it with the Cowboys like Dicks, Like, yeah, every
quarterback kind of has their own cadence or just kind
of their own song and dance type thing. And you know,
obviously Brocks was very methodical and he just was very
in control of it. And you know that's why he's
one of the great quarterbacks and he's history Cam is
Cam likes get up and do a little bit more

(01:41:18):
checks with the line and stuff like that. So I mean,
not one's not right or wrong, and it's just different.
I think brox was just allowed him to be a
little bit cleaner in those situations.

Speaker 4 (01:41:27):
Like Brock not in his grave, but great.

Speaker 3 (01:41:32):
The last thing I remember actually from broclast and I
saw on social media was big.

Great Dixy Chicken Baby Marietta.

Speaker 45 (01:47:52):
Hey, uh, I want to ask you, maybe, Jake, who
are some perippery players that we can use utilized to
kind of surprise South Dako to state that they haven't seen?
And also does Joe Stoppele can he throw that jump
pass that Sandy or thought to go to State tris

(01:48:16):
on one time?

Speaker 3 (01:48:19):
Thank you, mil, very good questions down there. Keep yourself
safe down in Atlanta. I like those questions. I don't
know for reason, there's not gonna be anyone that they
haven't seen. Now we're going to use your team's doing
each other two. Well, you're not gonna just take some
when that hasn't played all year, and hey be our
secret weapon in this game. But who are maybe some
you know, off the radar candidates that have some big games.

Speaker 7 (01:48:37):
We did talk about this last week. We could go
at the show with Brad and someone was it Brad
or someone called in. I think it was a caller
that called in about when we NBSU ran like the
Hide the Short Person play with Ryan Ryan Smith.

Speaker 4 (01:48:52):
Okay, and I do think we have a Johnny.

Speaker 7 (01:48:55):
Gores guy on the team that is not the biggest
in stature, but you could sneak him in and maybe
run like a phone like a Fumble Ruski type or
you snap it, have everyone run to the right and
he kind of just sits there and curls over the
ball for half a second and then skirts down the sideline.
So I can see something like that. Obviously you saw today.
Rajah Nelson was a quarterback in high school. He's able
to throw the ball and like some Jet sweep actions.

(01:49:15):
Joe Stoffel, I'm I believe they ran that pass with
Tucker Craft and Dallas Goddard. I love Joe Stoffel, good,
He's a good friend of mine. I don't think he's
gonna put himself in the echelon of those two who
are starting tight ends the NFL. Now the end zone,
yeah or yeah, but I would so I would say
no to that. I maybe, but I could see something

(01:49:38):
with Rajah, something with maybe John You see the trick
plays I think, yeah, we went with their offense. I
was gonna say that I'd probably hopefully stay away from
trick plays, but you never know. I mean sometimes when
they work your genius and then when they don't, you
get fired.

Speaker 3 (01:49:49):
Now maybe you know non trick plays, but people on
the periphery that could have a big game and could
be a deciding factor. I look at the guy that
got an interception today, Anthony Sademi al Faro. I think
you're gonna have to at some point in this game,
for both sides. There's going to be plays where the
secondary is one on one with receivers. There's just going
to because the chess match, and I'm sure something good.

(01:50:10):
The State's going to try and exploit some things in
the running game and get some certain type of players
to try and have to tackle in space and maybe
there's a counter there and providing some more help, which
means that your corners now are going to be on
islands against the Griffin Wildie or against Graham Gorey or
somebody like that. And Anthony shemil Far has got to
win his one on one Jayalen Duffy Jayden, and Duffy's
got to win his one on one as well. I
think some of those players. You don't talk about the

(01:50:32):
corners a lot about your keys. Alexander had a nice
tackle a nether line of scrimmage today on a couple
of the run plays to the outside. I think about
those corners that we don't talk about as much have
to be big for NDSU against the receivers that STSU
is going to provide in this game.

Speaker 5 (01:50:45):
I was just pouring through the October nineteenth matchup here,
and then NDSU had six different players who rushed the ball,
including Cole Payton obviously off the team now because of injury.
But six different players ran the ball that day and
nine different players caught a pass that day. Now, I
don't know how you game plan against nine different people

(01:51:07):
of what each individual person is going to do. So
you start talking about Truman Wermeier had to catch that day.

Speaker 9 (01:51:14):
T K.

Speaker 5 (01:51:15):
Marshall had two catches that day, Brica had two, Chamar
had one, Bryce had one for nine yards.

Speaker 4 (01:51:22):
Got to get more involved, Yeah, maybe.

Speaker 5 (01:51:24):
Look over that way a little more. McKay had one
that day, Brylan Henderson had three, Nelson and Chris Harris
had five. So if you want to start looking at
who's going to be that person?

Speaker 9 (01:51:36):
Is that?

Speaker 5 (01:51:36):
I mean, it could be any one of those nine
people who on offense hypothetically could make a big play.
I would love to see it to be one of
the seniors. I would love to see the group that
they've made. And they've not hidden from it that they've
not had the best record against SCSCU. They have lost
a lot of games to the jack Rabbits. These seniors
have more than.

Speaker 4 (01:51:55):
At the rock back.

Speaker 5 (01:51:56):
They do have the rock back, but these players have
lost more games against SDSU then probably the last two
or three classes that come before them. NDSU Bison means
a lot the history of the Bison. I think that
one of those seniors is going to make a big
play in their final game.

Speaker 3 (01:52:13):
About the senior who has to sound his final game
the dumps to be back next year. But the senior
that made the plays in the first game, Roger Nelson
two receiving touchdowns, right good? How about that senior for you?
Maybe a slightly off the radar because you're not talking
about Bryce Lance there. I think about him. And then
on the defensive side, I already said the corners, how
about also Logan CoP's been great, but one person that's
back for NDSU that did not play in the first meeting.

(01:52:35):
Nick Kubitts didn't play the first time these two teams matchup. No,
we did have Luke Wurtz. Luke's been out for these
last couple of games. Will see if he's able to
get back in time. But you do have Nick Kubitts.
Didn't have him before taking a look at what these
two teams look like compared to what the game was
when NDSU went at thirteen to nine, right score thirteen

(01:52:55):
nine all the way back on October nineteenth was the
game NDSU in that game had Cole Peyton. Don't cold
Peyton anymore? Right, not not going to have them. He
actually got heard of believe in this game, yep. And
then Sam Young who had really kind of they shifted
what position he was playing at safety and that kind
of sawved the running game. Woe was a little bit.
He had been a very sure tackler. You knew he

(01:53:16):
was gonna be in the right spot. He's gonna play
the depense as it was intended. He also got hurt
in this game and was out for the rest of
the season. So Jake rock now that went out last week.
He's done for the year, so there's an offensive lineman too,
So there's been some changes for the issue. Dylan Hendricks
did not play in the game. He didn't got hurt
against Southern before, so he didn't play in this game.
So that's not one that's that's any different than what

(01:53:37):
it was before. But you do have a few players out,
and you do have Nick Koope's back that did not
play in this game earlier in the.

Speaker 7 (01:53:43):
Year, and then for South Coast State. I don't know,
Tucker Large did not play. Large did not play and
he's back and he is a very very good football player.

Speaker 4 (01:53:51):
But I don't know. I think other than I think
they're fairly healthful.

Speaker 7 (01:53:54):
Number fifty five, the big d tackle went down at
one point today against some current word. I'm not sure
what injury with the how serious that was. But other
than that, I think they're pretty much healthy.

Speaker 3 (01:54:04):
But you look at again those that tightly decided thirteen
to nine and just on NDSU side, and it doesn't
mean you can't win. There's always next man up, but
those are those are some injuries, right, I mean Sam Young,
it's a big injury. Yeah, that's a guy you could
count on. To be in the right spot at safety
and against the running attack. You know, the Jackrabbitt coaches
are going to be looking at that and say, let's
try and exploit where they had Sam Yung at last
year and their last time he played them, and see

(01:54:27):
if we're going to attack that area that was the
strength that maybe could be a weakness.

Speaker 4 (01:54:30):
That's who we're gonna try.

Speaker 5 (01:54:31):
I mean, do we see thirty points or more in
this game total?

Speaker 8 (01:54:36):
Ooh?

Speaker 4 (01:54:38):
I think so. I think there's more scoring.

Speaker 3 (01:54:40):
I think NDSU found they found success in the passing game.

Speaker 4 (01:54:43):
They're late that.

Speaker 3 (01:54:44):
Even the coaches themselves said, I you should have gotten
to that passing game side of things a little bit
more earlier in that last drive. I think they've found
some things that might be able to work now. Again,
Tucker Largs being back might change those things as a
safety on the back end for him, but I think
they've found a few things that they liked that could
work in this game. And then guests U's offense right now.
They they were kind of trying to figure themselves out

(01:55:06):
early in the year. Bad game against Oklahoma State. They
had some games as well offensively, but just they weren't
really clicking. Even against Augustana, a non D one, they
weren't really clicking there. Gronowski didn't quite seem like himself.
Even against us, they've been good for the last month.
They have really been clicking on offense. Him and Griffin Wildy.
That connection's been special. Got to find a way to
limit Griffin Wildy's impact. He has been really, really good

(01:55:28):
the last six weeks.

Speaker 7 (01:55:29):
Yeah, and that's one thing like Periphery. Maybe not a player,
but like today we saw when I'm a butcher a
Aca got the pick. You know, we were showing cover
zero and then we dropped into a cover two. Look,
we showed cover zero pre snap dropping the cover two.
Obviously a freshman quarterback for Mercer, you can get away
like it was great. He didn't know he's going to
didn't see threw it to a cover two corner that

(01:55:49):
was dropping back pick against Gronowski. You're gonna have to
be a little bit better with those disguises. I think
those our younger dbs are getting better with the disguises.
But you know you're gonna go up against a former
see the Walter Payton last year, Yeah, former Walter Payton.

Speaker 4 (01:56:03):
They're raining Walter pager. You're gonna have one.

Speaker 7 (01:56:04):
You're gonna have to be on your p's and q's
and do it even better than you've done it before.
But I think that's that was a good sign to see,
you know, disguising coverages. Granted it was a freshman quarterback,
but we're gonna.

Speaker 4 (01:56:15):
To see a lot of that.

Speaker 7 (01:56:15):
Various givens, Ryan Jones and Jalen Carmber. You gotta play great, Yeah,
you gotta play. You've got to have your best game
of your life.

Speaker 3 (01:56:21):
One stsum tell you they're gonna try everything they can
to scheme up running plays where they force the safeties
to come down and make tackles because.

Speaker 4 (01:56:27):
Sam Young is not there.

Speaker 5 (01:56:28):
They're going to try that, and then they're gonna the
chess matches that they're coming over the.

Speaker 4 (01:56:31):
Top, you know, chess matches.

Speaker 3 (01:56:33):
What can Grant Olsen do to maybe limit that exposure,
But again, limiting that exposure means you might be one
on one with the receivers at sometimes and that's when
the play action comes and that's where the corners for
end of us, you're gonna have to win some one
on one battles at some point, not the entire game,
but at some point there's gonna be a p like that.
And it's the same thing for STSU. They're gonna come
down and try and take something away. At some point,
Brice Lands might be one on one with the corner.

(01:56:53):
Who's gonna win that matchup? Who wins the one wins
the game.

Speaker 5 (01:56:56):
It might come down to, like I was just looking
through the right for we went on here, looking through
the run of the second half, like it's a rock fight.
Yeah yeah, maybe the most of it's bigger than a
rock fight, Like is this a cinder block fight?

Speaker 4 (01:57:10):
Boulder fight?

Speaker 5 (01:57:10):
The next thing that is up because after Ndisu missed
a field goal to start the second half, this is
how the possessions went back and forth. When the score
was nine to seven, Sdsu punt punt, punt, punt, punt, punt, punt,
touchdown NDSU to take a thirteen to nine lead, and
then right after that an interception by Nbasu to seal

(01:57:32):
the game, so that Indiasu was behind that entire time
all of those punts, NDSU is down. I mean this
could come down you're talking about, Oh, who's gonna make
this one? This could come down again to one or
two plays that make the entire difference in this beast.

Speaker 7 (01:57:49):
And that's why you put three hundred and sixty five
days into working out every morning, running in the film
room for it to come down.

Speaker 3 (01:57:56):
To that wre February March. Maybe that team's not doing it.
Maybe we can get an edge right here and try
and beat them.

Speaker 4 (01:58:03):
I mean it's in December. This is uh.

Speaker 5 (01:58:06):
I mean, be cure what you wish for, But man,
this is what you want.

Speaker 3 (01:58:09):
By thinking about Man, that last regular season finale against USD,
you win that game, you're gonna be facing UC Davis
instead of SDSU. Right, that was the punishment of those
that regular season games.

Speaker 4 (01:58:20):
You get this one.

Speaker 3 (01:58:20):
But hey, like you said to Settle, who wins the
conference this year? You go through STSU, Maybe you go
through USD as well.

Speaker 4 (01:58:27):
Could potentially happen.

Speaker 3 (01:58:28):
We see these semis work out next Saturday. Did up
a text in here from Kyle Lidberg and Fargo as well.
So what was the biggest surprise during the game today?
Either side second seven? The biggest surprise was we lost
three yards in an incomplete pass. Yeah, I don't know
exactly how that happened.

Speaker 4 (01:58:45):
That doesn't happen a lot. It did happen.

Speaker 5 (01:58:47):
I would think my biggest surprise was only ten thousand
fans being there today. I thought maybe they'd climb the
ladder a little bit rancheted.

Speaker 3 (01:58:54):
Oh, we at least get the third team a little bit, because.

Speaker 5 (01:58:56):
It looked like there were more people that that was
like three hundred more or five whatever, but it looked
like there were more people there. So I hope that
I'm not surprised by that next week. I'm sure we
won't be.

Speaker 3 (01:59:06):
Yeah, I don't think it's going to be an issue,
but again, it can't be filled with any blue.

Speaker 5 (01:59:09):
The game came out exactly how I thought it would.
Mercer wouldn't be able to score. Their running defense was
gonna be good, and you was gonna run the ball
just to try to do it and then score.

Speaker 4 (01:59:19):
Through the air.

Speaker 3 (01:59:19):
I think the only semi surprise for me even was
after the first five minutes scoring fourteen points, that we
only scored ten the rest of the second and all
third quarter. It took till the fourth quarter to get
back on the board more than ten. But the game,
like you said, Christ, I think pretty much like we've expected.

Speaker 4 (01:59:34):
It to Jake.

Speaker 7 (01:59:35):
I mean at their defensive line was I think it
was as advertised. I maybe thought, you know, coming from
a weaker conference, that it wasn't gonna be on the
number one run defense. They had a good defensive line,
Their defense was solid.

Speaker 3 (01:59:45):
There was a surprise. I was surprised Cam only got
picked off twice.

Speaker 4 (01:59:48):
Yeah that's good, good Tay.

Speaker 3 (01:59:50):
Yeah, two interceptions in one game. Now it's three interceptions
the last two weeks. That has to get cleaned up.
Cannot have talks about the pre game. Can't have it again.
Let's just call it what it is.

Speaker 4 (01:59:59):
The it is ugly.

Speaker 5 (02:00:00):
They were not real, real great throws that.

Speaker 4 (02:00:04):
That the second one was. I was standing, I'm like,
can you can not this throw away? You throw this?

Speaker 5 (02:00:09):
Youre trying to chuck that into the third row?

Speaker 4 (02:00:11):
Fight another play, right? It looked like a.

Speaker 5 (02:00:13):
Half of a throw away, Like half I'm trying to
complete this half of trying to throw It's like again.

Speaker 7 (02:00:19):
It's like my golf shot when I'm like one seventy
five out and I'm like, ah, I'm just gonna just just.

Speaker 5 (02:00:23):
I can muscle a seven, but maybe I can get
there with an eight.

Speaker 4 (02:00:26):
I don't know.

Speaker 5 (02:00:27):
Yeah, I can't have that next week. You just can't know,
and I hate. I would hate if something, you know,
a ridiculous play on either side happens. I want them
to win it.

Speaker 3 (02:00:37):
But for what we said going into last the game
earlier this year that we hadn't got a turnover from
SDSU in the last what was it six games, right,
they hadn't had a turnover, and then the game that
kind of the play that kind of decides it was
the interception by logan cocky only.

Speaker 4 (02:00:51):
Turnover of that game.

Speaker 3 (02:00:52):
The team that loses the turnover battle and the team
that loses the rushing yards battle in this matchup does
not win the game. It doesn't happen if you lose
a turnover battle and you can't win the running gate,
running yards battle, rushing yards battle. God, you don't believe
in that game.

Speaker 5 (02:01:04):
Can't wait?

Speaker 3 (02:01:05):
I can't either. It's gonna be awesome. We're ready for
it now. I think the players might need a couple
of days to heal up and get ready for this game,
but it should be great. Next Saturday at eleven o'clock,
one more break for us, We'll come back and wrap
things up here for you from Bison Hotline next live
at Applebee's.

Zude stroll in there, Ririka Pedu two yard touchdown and
the biason put the finishing touches on Mercer with one
fifty seven to play, thirty to seven, Thundering Herd and
they're well on their way to a rematch with South
Dakota State and the semi finals on Saturday.

Speaker 3 (02:05:52):
Not only well on their way, they end up getting
there thirty one seven, the Body's in take down the
seven seeded Mercer bears out of the Soacon and they
move on to face South Dakota State next Saturday eleven
o'clock inside the Fargo Dome for a chance to go
to Frisco for another national title. Before we close up shop,
I know this one's gonna be in Frisco, but the

(02:06:13):
next two national championships after this one, I'm going to
be in Nashville. I know that Mark in America called
it and said the offer for the free drinks doesn't
stand for the National Championship games. I have to argue
with him a little bit on that one, But what
do you think about two national titles in Nashville for us?

Speaker 5 (02:06:30):
Off with Chris here, I'll start with this, just as
being in person, who it seemed like, and we talked
about this this weekend with some tailgating buddies. Was the
first year you're in Frisco.

Speaker 4 (02:06:39):
You're just so happy to be there.

Speaker 5 (02:06:41):
Then the weather seemed to got worse, and then I
got worse, and then I got worse, and then it's like, oh,
you should have been here last week it was seventy
and now it's twenty five and there's snow on the
ground against JMU. So I would say, hey, Nashville, be great.
That's a fun party. But I don't think Nashville first
week of January is the week to be in Naville.
That being said, the new Vandy Stadium looks great. Does

(02:07:04):
I mean get your anchors going for that one? Because
that does look great. So that's my only concern is
that they moved it north, Like was Miami not available?
It was Corpus Christie not available? Was somebody in flag
Staff doing so? I mean anywhere? But nonetheless, and I
hope Frisco gets it back after that. I hope this
isn't like they see what Nashville can do.

Speaker 4 (02:07:26):
Right that Nashville is going to be a scary, scary
place for US the Nations for.

Speaker 5 (02:07:30):
Well and perhaps twice there in one season next year.

Speaker 3 (02:07:33):
Because to play at Tennessee State Stadium, and that one's September.

Speaker 5 (02:07:37):
Yeah, with the Chamber and Commerce there in September than
it is January a little bit.

Speaker 3 (02:07:42):
And by the way, it will be going back to
Toyota to team just going under renovations for two years,
so it's only gonna be a half capacity, which is
why they're doing this thing at Nashville.

Speaker 7 (02:07:49):
But well, after Nashville sees BIS the Nation potentially two
times next year, I think the Nashville Chamber of Commerces like, wait,
maybe we need to rethink our bid here for this.

Speaker 4 (02:07:59):
Yeah something.

Speaker 3 (02:08:00):
If there's a city that can handle Bison Nation, yeah,
that would be if the one that would be be
prepared for it is Nashville. In my mind, Vegas probably too,
but I think Nashville is used to people coming in
there and drinking lots of beverages.

Speaker 5 (02:08:14):
But rather interesting though to put another player into the
bit where it just seemed like Frisco is going to
be you know, oh slam dunk, They've got it. They're
gonna win every bid.

Speaker 3 (02:08:24):
Nashville gets their hands on it. It's hard to get
their hands off of it.

Speaker 5 (02:08:27):
I mean, and I know you'll have to go back
to Frisco after that because of the contract or whatever.

Speaker 4 (02:08:32):
But once it goes up forbidding, once it goes back
up the bid.

Speaker 3 (02:08:36):
Just I remember when the NFL Draft was there in Nashville,
and remember there's a lot of bachelortte parties weren't too
happy about that, like.

Speaker 5 (02:08:42):
A grained that spring day. If I remember two of
the first night of the NFL.

Speaker 3 (02:08:47):
Draft, plenty of bachelorette parties probably that have no idea
what a bison? What's a bison?

Speaker 5 (02:08:52):
As well, if you're doing a bachelor party the first
week of January in Nashville, I got to question your decision.

Speaker 4 (02:08:57):
That's also true. That's also very like you should be.

Speaker 5 (02:08:59):
No where within five hundred miles of the equator at
that point.

Speaker 3 (02:09:03):
I think it's going to be a great time in Nashville.

Speaker 4 (02:09:05):
I love that city. It's awesome.

Speaker 3 (02:09:06):
Like you said, Vandy's Stadium which is currently being renovated,
will be ready in time. That looks like it's going
to be phenomenal and around thirty thousand capacities, so even
more space for everybody down there, which is gonna be
a lot of fun too. But I've also enjoyed time
in Frisco, and if it goes back there, I'll be,
you know, totally fine when it's back.

Speaker 5 (02:09:21):
In bold move tearing down half your stadium? Yeah yeah, right,
Like that's literally the press box side is being They're
just eliminating it and starting over.

Speaker 3 (02:09:30):
Hopefully it's lead to or will lead to added capacity
for future national ties.

Speaker 4 (02:09:34):
So the city of Frisco can pass that, but we
can't get a renovation at the Fargo Dome.

Speaker 7 (02:09:38):
To go to the bathroom to open up that willthroom
today in the press box, I had to go all
the way down stage.

Speaker 3 (02:09:44):
Is there one of the press box I've said, no
vote for a renovation there will be.

Speaker 5 (02:09:47):
I was trying to get something with my cell phone
service and that didn't come through. Man, WiFi would have
been nice.

Speaker 4 (02:09:52):
Would have been nice.

Speaker 5 (02:09:53):
Oh well, that's okay, don't worry, It'll be fine. We'll
put some duct tape on it. Everything will be.

Speaker 4 (02:09:57):
Fine, so we do things.

They are the agents with answers last segment here on
Bison hotlines. So we appreciate everybody. If you want to
sign up for the men's basketball tickets to tomorrow's game
at one o'clock against Western Michigan, we're pulling for those
here in just a couple of minutes, so get your
name into the hat. We do have a few more
text messages, so let's go through these ones quickly. This
one says Bison beat the Bunnies in USD, take down

(02:10:44):
the Kittens rematch in Frisco, or the Bison roll over
the y Oats and they can win the conference title
as well. It's kind of well you just said there, Yeah,
I like that.

Speaker 4 (02:10:51):
Yeah, I like that.

Speaker 5 (02:10:52):
Play somebody news get some new blood. Yeah in Frisco,
somebody new.

Speaker 3 (02:10:57):
To see fan base doesn't know how things worked on there.

Speaker 4 (02:10:59):
Yeah, it's so cute that the guys should go to this.
They've got these bars.

Speaker 5 (02:11:03):
Down here with these girls. No, okay, thanks, it's not
our first road yet.

Speaker 3 (02:11:07):
How do we get tickets?

Speaker 4 (02:11:08):
Don't worry? What are these Bison fans?

Speaker 5 (02:11:11):
Why do they have tickets?

Speaker 4 (02:11:12):
Blah blah blah. Keywords playoffs?

Speaker 3 (02:11:14):
Yeah, keyword is first to go for the h So
that is the case right there. I do think we
all thought that USD has a chance though against Montana
State thirty chance, twenty five percent chance and you know,
a puncher's chance. They're for sure to go into Bozeman.
Not trying to discredit the Montana State, but we've seen
USD go to Brookings probably should have won that game,
maybe outthought themselves on that one, and then they beat

(02:11:34):
NDSU in Vermilion earlier this year. Dave as well with
a text message in here, says, can the NDISU admin
start tracking tickets and people who don't show up? So
people who want to go but can't I can get
to the game. Similar on what Nick Saban did several
years ago. Horn's always up.

Speaker 4 (02:11:54):
I feel like they ken. I I don't know what
the I'm gonna say.

Speaker 3 (02:11:58):
If there was a if there was a Bizon fans saying, well,
I can someone who doesn't show not get the tickets
so I could go. There was plenty of opportunity for
you to kill this week. There's plenty of tickets that
were up for grabs and nobody bought them.

Speaker 5 (02:12:08):
So now this next you're gonna if you are a
Bison season ticket holder, or if you have bought tickets,
or if you're a teammaker, you're gonna be getting an email.
Maybe it's already come out by having looked, but you're
gonna be getting an email for buying tickets. It is
the defend the Dome.

Speaker 4 (02:12:24):
Email came out to your email inbox at eight twenty
four pm.

Speaker 7 (02:12:27):
All right, you give early access. It's time to defend
the Dome. So, if you are a season ticket holder, nope,
I had bought tickets to a Buyson game this year,
play on the playoffs, or are a teammaker, whatever level
of teammaker you got.

Speaker 3 (02:12:40):
The ticket, you donated to teamakers at all this year
if you bought tickets of the first two playoff games,
or if you are a season ticket holder you're part
of the Defend the Dome coalition, you have tomorrow noon
to seven pm to buy some tickets.

Speaker 4 (02:12:52):
Get in there.

Speaker 3 (02:12:53):
Season ticket holders haven't tell five pm to purchase their
same tickets, which you said somewhere around eleven thousand or
so there, Chris, all the season ticket holders students have
until it was eight pm tonight is when those ones
went online. So like forty minutes ago, yep, that's when
those ones went up. For the students as well, can
get their tickets and they don't go really on sale
to the entire public until five pm on Tuesday. Let's

(02:13:16):
make sure they're all bought up before then. And skedsu
can't snake anyone. I want anyone from Brookings coming up here,
unless it's Mike from Sooux Falls.

Speaker 5 (02:13:22):
If you're on social media, whatever it is, please send
this out and make sure that people are aware and
they know of it, because a nightmare scenario is having
five thousand people who think the Taco Johns is the
best food that they can get in their county. We
don't want five thousand of those people coming into the
Farmo Dome, because initially they're gonna be shocked, like, what,

(02:13:42):
you don't have Taco John's here? Yeah, we don't, and
they're gonna be like, oh, well, we have a Taco
Johns and we're the two time defending national champ and
you know whatever, we wrote a cow here from Brookings.
I don't want those people in my town, Okay. I
don't want those people as great in my stadium and
munch or even further worse.

Speaker 4 (02:13:59):
In the stadium.

Speaker 5 (02:14:00):
Yeah, do what you can with buying those tickets tonight
to secure those They make great gifts.

Speaker 3 (02:14:05):
The team fought their tails off all year to get
this home home field advantage. Yeah, don't waste it.

Speaker 5 (02:14:10):
Imagine how much fun you had at that first SDSU
game where you got the home field. To have them
come back and you do it to them again.

Speaker 4 (02:14:17):
Yep.

Speaker 5 (02:14:18):
Think how much fun that would be, Jake, Think how
much fun that would be.

Speaker 4 (02:14:21):
I'm imagining right now. And yeah, I put the pads
back on.

Speaker 3 (02:14:25):
Get the helmet out of the retirement helmet one last
one out of Washington State says, do the huge wins
by SDSU and Montana State bode anything for the outcome
of the next games, our teams saving health or slash
output of plays. Sorry this might have been covered already,
but wondering about the Bison conditioning at all as well.
A couple of questions there. No, I don't think what

(02:14:47):
SDSU or Montana State did this week holds any bearing
on next week. I don't really think the Bison were
holding anything back. I think this was maybe just a
game they knew the offense for Merrocer wasn't going to
threaten them, no reason to maybe take any chances offensively.

Speaker 7 (02:14:59):
Yeah, I think, you know, for both STSU and DSU
and then Montana State Southcota game next week, I think
basically nothing that's happened up to this point. Both teams
know they're playing for a chance to go play for
a national championship. For the seniors, this could be your
last home game for the seniors. On the other team,
this could be your last football game ever, like it's
going to be. You know, all bets are off. I
think this is this is your season right here. Yep,

(02:15:21):
you got you know, sixty minutes to go out, put
it all on the line and see what happens.

Speaker 4 (02:15:25):
They get that pregame speech before the game. Yeah, there
you go, got Chris.

Speaker 3 (02:15:29):
Any final thoughts from the win today and what next
Saturday will hold before we drop for the men's basketball tickets.

Speaker 5 (02:15:35):
I would say that I'm very excited about this game.
The matchup is going to be awesome. It's two of
the premier teams that if you ask anybody if they
have what team and the FCS they know odds are,
they'd say number one NDSU. Number two might be STSU.
They have come from being little brother to actually being
someone who's got a fighting chance and there is a
very real chance to take it coming to the Fargo

(02:15:55):
Doom and win next week. I mean, just prepare yourself
for the teams. Two excellent teams, well coached, have a
history together. I don't see a three touchdown win. I
see this being a single digit win by either a
team that does it. And I just cannot wait for
breakfast with the Bison next Saturday.

Speaker 4 (02:16:15):
I just can't wait.

Speaker 5 (02:16:16):
I can't wait to be in here doing a postgame
show and just celebrating.

Speaker 4 (02:16:20):
I just I want it.

Speaker 3 (02:16:21):
I want it so bad for everyone in the local area.
Are coverage on Bison sixteen sixty. We'll start with Ross
Ugglam at five.

Speaker 4 (02:16:28):
In the morning, ye five am.

Speaker 3 (02:16:30):
Next Saturday, we're here with you on one or seven
point nine The Fox as well with Bison game Day
myself and Jacob.

Speaker 4 (02:16:37):
You're good for me. I'll be there figure next week.

Speaker 3 (02:16:40):
You know, Jake on Bison game Day, which we'll start
at eight am on Bison sixteen one or seven point
nine The Fox. We'll draw here for our winners NDSU
Men's basketball tickets. The game is tomorrow one pm. NDESU
versus Western Michigan. A chance you'll see the Bison team
that just took down Butler. First pair of tickets I
draw it, which means Jake has to read it.

Speaker 4 (02:17:00):
We got Chad Derby.

Speaker 3 (02:17:01):
Chad Derby wins a pair of tickets. Congratulations to Chad.
Second one for you.

Speaker 4 (02:17:07):
Is Johnny Jorgenson. That's a great name from Hunter.

Speaker 3 (02:17:11):
Johnny Jorgensen. And the third pair of tickets I got
Karl Lidberg wins these ones.

Speaker 4 (02:17:17):
CA there you go.

Speaker 3 (02:17:19):
Three pairs of tickets. NDSU taken on Western Michigan team
out of the MAC. There a chance for seven in
a row for Dave Richmond and company. Shout out to
Dave Richmond and that men's basketball team six wins in
a row. They just took down Butler out of the
Big East, first win ever against the modern Big Eiast team.

Speaker 5 (02:17:34):
Niederman around the office has been saying, Oh, this team's
going to the dance.

Speaker 4 (02:17:37):
He's been feeling it right now.

Speaker 5 (02:17:39):
He is really feeling it right exactly. There's a reason
not to.

Speaker 3 (02:17:42):
The preseason favorite was Kansas City, and they're playing terribly
right now. I think if you would do a preseason
poll now before conference, I think NDSU would be the
favorite now.

Speaker 4 (02:17:49):
Not by a wide margin, and.

Speaker 5 (02:17:51):
We haven't even gotten into the meat grinder playing something
league play yet. Yeah, but I think that India sees
it's a if you haven't been to a game in
a while, it is a different NDISU men's basketball team
than what you have watched, say three years ago.

Speaker 4 (02:18:05):
It's that you're Dave Richmond's team of old.

Speaker 5 (02:18:07):
This isn't This isn't try to like have a race
to who can score like fifty five first. This is
a team that's wide open, that shoots the three's. Jacari
White is fantastic, I mean money from why why didn't we.

Speaker 3 (02:18:19):
Have He's six foot ten and can knock down threes
like no one's business, and he can play inside.

Speaker 5 (02:18:24):
He's I mean, I'm wondering why Dave didn't just bring
him in when he was eighteen. Nonetheless, he's made up.
We got him here now. This is It's a really
fun team to watch. And the women's team on the
other side is that after losing a ton of players
last year, is being uber competitive.

Speaker 3 (02:18:38):
And scoring last year. Right, I know, they're six to
four and playing extremely well.

Speaker 5 (02:18:42):
They should they should not be doing what they're doing either,
So that's a lot of fun to watch. So the
wintertime after the NDSU, my favorite game of the year
is the game where they bring out the national championship
trophy that the football team won. Jake, tell me how
awesome that is.

Speaker 4 (02:18:55):
That's a pretty good feeling.

Speaker 7 (02:18:56):
Normally we would do it against South Coast State or
und when we play them in basketball.

Speaker 3 (02:18:59):
Yea, yeah, act even better against South Dakota State when
they playing in basketball.

Speaker 4 (02:19:03):
Guys, it could definitely happen.

Speaker 5 (02:19:04):
We got a January date against something else.

Speaker 4 (02:19:05):
Sweet that would be. I always love those.

Speaker 5 (02:19:08):
Games that I would never miss. Those are always one
of them.

Speaker 3 (02:19:11):
So yeah, Bison men's basketball next four games are home,
including their first two of conference play. They are home
against STSU on January thirtieth inside the Shields Center.

Speaker 5 (02:19:22):
Well, that would be a fun day to honor a
team that won the national It.

Speaker 4 (02:19:25):
Would be a great day.

Speaker 3 (02:19:27):
It would be that would totally fine out.

Speaker 4 (02:19:29):
There just pumping.

Speaker 3 (02:19:32):
It would be the absolute best. Hopefully that one can
come to Fruition, Indy as you can win next Saturday,
go to Frisco and take home another national title. That
will do things for us here at Applebee's on Bison Hotline.
Thanks to everybody that tuned in tonight, that called in,
texted in the emails as well. Thanks to our entire
broadcast crew for the entire day, not only myself and

(02:19:54):
Jake on Beies in Game to this morning, Chris Hansen
with us tonight as well of course Sebastian Focus and
