Speaker 1 (00:00):
Country.

Speaker 2 (00:00):

Street North. Cheers Andy Rickoff.

Speaker 3 (00:20):
There is taking care of business, and then there is
taking care of business, and today the Bison did the latter.
They definitely take care of Murray State on the road.
They extend their winning streak to eight in a row
and stay undefeated against the FCS. Final score today of
fifty nine to six. The Bison win this one by

(00:42):
fifty three. And welcome on in to Bison Hotline, Andy Rickoff,
Jake Cavey, here with you. We are live and Applebee's
just north of the Fargo Dome. Come out, stop by,
say hello with us, enjoy the great food here Applebee's,
and celebrate another Bison win. We are giving away some

(01:03):

sixty degrees Yard's still unfrozen. Chance for those to go in.
We got some cups to give away, some cell phone holders,
so some freebies here at Applebe's to celebrate another Bison victory.
And Jake, as I said, to open things up, there's
taking care of business and then there's winning by fifty

(01:25):
three points. And today the Bison won by fifty three points.

Speaker 4 (01:29):
Yeah, it wasn't much of a competitive football game, but
you know sometimes it's gonna get NBCU was supposed to
win like this, in a game like this, and for
them to go down go on the road to Kentucky
for the first time since ninety three or something like
this to it and you know, take care of business.
That's a good win. And that was fun too. To
see the young guys get in, I know, the young
man from Fargoing North, Peter how Peter Hago got into play.

(01:51):
And then to really see Nathan Hayes as the new
soul backup quarterback to Cam Miller finally gets some of
his first real game reps with the one offense. And
I thought he spun the ball pretty well and he
has a live arm. I think someone interviewed himself. He
was throwing like ninety six off the mound in high school.
So he's got a biggest turn baseball. Yeah, I mean
I don't Phil and Sam and no one we're talking

(02:11):
about it. But he looked confident out there. He's pushing
the ball down field. So it was good to see him.
And you know, we can come back home for a
big one against you and I. We'll see what you
and I team shows up, if that even is a team.
But yeah, good one.

Speaker 3 (02:21):
Yeah, we'll discuss it, will break down the play of
Nathan Hay some of the other guys that got in. Clearly,
this is a game where the backups got to play
a little bit, and the backups did keep Murray State
out of the end zone. That was the key here
in this one. We got plenty of thoughts, plenty of
conversation of this one. If you want to talk about it,
feel free to call us up or text us seven
zero one four seven six sixteen sixty. Phone lines are

(02:42):
open for you right now. Call on in to the program.
More so, do the text they're on that text line.
You can also email the program studio at Bison sixteen
sixty dot com if you want us to read the email.
We will also accept those ones or Facebook comments there
on Bison sixteen sixty or on one oh seven point
nine the five. We will definitely get to those here
over the next hour or so. Here live at Applebee's

(03:05):
And you're right, Jake, first trip in a long time.
Nineteen seventy six, the last time to buy we're down
in the state of Kentucky. That was against Eastern Kentucky
Division two quarterfinal. Today a conference game at Murray State.
I know a lot of thoughts on this one. We
will give you our player of the game a few
other things, and that's want to start off this way.
Do you guys as players even like these games. I

(03:26):
know that there's a lot of fans. Probably up to today,
I was like, uh, it's like, what's the point it
Just like, I know, if we're getting some run for
the younger guys, I know there's some good things we
can grow, we can learn. Every game is a game,
but you guess as players, even like when you go
down to a team just it felt non competitive from
the jump.

Speaker 4 (03:42):
Yeah, I mean it's always it's difficultcause you don't go
into the game expecting it to be fifty nine to six, right,
just like they have good players too.

Speaker 1 (03:50):
Maybe not as many as any Sue, and maybe they
have a good player.

Speaker 5 (03:53):
But they have to spend the week with like the
facial supponent.

Speaker 1 (03:55):
We got to work hard, and Murray State did some things.

Speaker 4 (03:58):
They're able to move the ball on offense, like and
Sue didn't play a perfect game by any means. Obviously
they're a lot better football team than Murray State right now.
But you know, as a player, yeah, I mean for
the fan base, for everyone to be the best football team,
you want to be playing big time games against a
big time opponents.

Speaker 1 (04:16):
So like the competitor, like, yeah, it's.

Speaker 3 (04:19):
You don't it wasn't competitive, Saturdy, It wasn't competitive.

Speaker 4 (04:23):
But at the same time, like I'm not I'm never
going to complain for winning a football game fifty nine
to six. That's I'd take that ten times over ten
and winning losing the game by one.

Speaker 1 (04:31):
But uh yeah, I mean it's it's tough for the
fan base. I know, like when I was like, oh,
if we move up or if we're able to move
up at some point, hopefully you don't have a game
like this.

Speaker 3 (04:39):
Yeah, these are the games I think fan what the
fan base is saying that, hey, we we leave it
have to have some games or not as interested some
Saturdays than other saturdays. Clearly, last week it's a night game,
it's SDSU would nationally telebized. That was an electric atmosphere,
and then this week it felt like, okay, first quarter
up T one, nothing I ever go, Yeah, like game.
The only thing you're looking for there is okay, how
did the first like two drives go? Because they go

(05:00):
the way these ones went where NDSU scores on six plays,
getting a first down on all of the plays throughout
that drive, and then a touchdown as well, and then
defensively you get a sack that leads to a missed
field goal and then immediately a touchdown on the very
next play. You're like, okay, so it's over right. You
hear the first two drive basically now if it had
gone the other way of like they went down and
scored a little back and forth like okay, and now

(05:22):
we gotta watch, maybe we got a little bit of
a game. But when NDYSU did what they did, and
they did it early, put them away early on. Didn't
really give them a chance to stick around in this game.
You knew it was was over fairly quick.

Speaker 4 (05:32):
Yeah, and That's what's tough for Murray to say too,
because there are a few plays going a different way
or ball bounce a different way, maybe the quarterback making
a better decision, then this being maybe a closer game
in the first half. I still think the final result
is NBCU winning by privately.

Speaker 3 (05:45):
If they could have hung in through the first quarter,
then you give yourself some hope and you, yeah, I think, honestly,
just try a little harder.

Speaker 4 (05:52):
Yeah, yeah, just I mean, it's it's really tough. Like
I think, uh Matt Rules said this in Nebraska this year.
Some of these teams, like when you have kind of
a bad program, you get so accustomed to losing.

Speaker 1 (06:04):
I just feel like a team like.

Speaker 4 (06:05):
Murray Sarah now like like ah, here we go again, right,
we're down three store it's just like, uh yep, here
we go again. Like they have to go to Brookings
next week, and it's like, okay, yeah, now we got
the number three team in the country.

Speaker 1 (06:15):
Here we go against their place.

Speaker 4 (06:16):
And that's one thing they're coaching staff and I forget
their head coach's name, but Zev Joey right, Joey right,
Like they're gonna have to try to change that culture
at Murray State to be more like no, like, we
need to go in these games and we expect to
be competitive. We expect to compete. And I think that's
a tough thing to do, but you know, that's part
of the fun, I guess of being a college football
coach at a place like Murray State.

Speaker 3 (06:34):
Right now, we do say things like culture and buzzwords
like that a lot. I think a lot of times
fans just gonna roll the eyes plays over right, Okkay,
here we talk about culture. But I think this is
a perfect example. If you go to a place where
they don't have I mean, forget a culture of winning,
a culture of competitiveness, compulsion, a culture of being in games,
a culture of just competitive football and toughness and physicality

(06:57):
and never giving up. You know, it's obviously been instilled
any isu for decades now. To go to a place
where just it hasn't ever really been there and trying
to change that, man, that is hard to do. It's
like generationally turning turning over generations of culture right now,
and it's a tough task for him. Hopefully they're up
to the task. We'll see the next couple of years
that they get better. They're off ndusu's schedule for the
next couple of years. I personally, I know we're all like, well,

(07:18):
it's a newsy win put them on the schedule. I'm
okay with it. I'm okay with it. I think NDAC
will be fine if other games in the valley as well,
and hopefully you can learn a little bit more about
your football team and grow a little bit more against
some of those other opponents. And then we'll see how
Murray State is the next couple of years. And they
are just two years into the valley. Time to get better.
They've got some growth to do, got some young pieces.
I like their running back Northington thought he was a

(07:40):
good player for him. A couple of nice catches by
the receivers, but a non competitive game. NDIUSU was up
big in this one. We'll try and run through some
of the highlights, some of the stats, and some of
the figures in this game.

Speaker 5 (07:50):
As NDSU wins it big fifteen nine to six.

looks long down the middle on the field, caught by
Bryce Last. There he goes and sign a fifteen time

Speaker 3 (12:20):
Touchdown at ESU Bison. Bryce lands, I'm a big hitter.

Speaker 7 (12:25):
From camp Biller seventy four yards and Adsu says, getty

and they laid thirteen to nothing here in the Bluegrass State,

Speaker 3 (12:38):
The first quarter, getting up Indeed, big time play there.
One of not one, not two, not three, but four
touchdown receptions on.

Speaker 5 (12:47):
The day for Bryce Lance.

Speaker 3 (12:49):
They were working the wide receivers in the passing game
and all the way down the field.

Speaker 5 (12:54):
Very first play.

Speaker 3 (12:55):
What I loved about that one is Noah Gendor from
the sideline said that can't. I told them as they
were going out to the field, he will look to
him and said we're going deep for the first play,
and they sure did. Seventy four yards, the longest play
of the day and of the season for NDSU as
they went fifty nine to six over Murray State. Back

(14:18):
Let's go over to the phone line here, Drake giving
us a call. Drake, you're here with us on Bison hotline.
How you doing? What are your thoughts from this game?

Speaker 15 (14:26):
Good?

Speaker 16 (14:27):
Me and my dad are just we're coming back from
Murray to get back to Fargo. He came down to
the game. We're just kind of wondering not to go
away from the good stuff that happened this game. But
on the punts, just with two punching blocks then having
a fake one just because he thought another one might
have been blocked. What do you think is happening there?
And what do you think is going to happen as.

Speaker 15 (14:46):
A result of it.

Speaker 5 (14:48):
We'll get to your question here, Drake.

Speaker 3 (14:49):
First off, are you guys driving back?

Speaker 17 (14:52):
Uh?

Speaker 16 (14:53):
No, we're driving to Nashville and then flying from Nashville
to Minneapolis and then driving from Minneapolis back to Fargo.

Speaker 5 (15:00):
Respect that one. Thank you. For the call.

Speaker 3 (15:02):
Appreciate that that is quite the trip going to Nashville
going to a Bison game down there in Murray, Kentucky.
Definitely respect the hustle by buys the nation there. Oh yeah,
if there's any any negative today, any negative in a
fifty nine to six win, it was those punts had
a couple of them blocked and probably had some second
stringers in there at that point. I went for a
fake as well. That one wasn't converted for India's You

(15:23):
won a fourth down, gave some really good field position
to Murray State. What do you see on those blocked
punts for the racers?

Speaker 1 (15:28):
Yeah, it was tough. It was.

Speaker 4 (15:30):
I think it was Logan Larsson and Jackson dutin ef
for in the punch shield guys and Murray State kind
of dialed up a little, I think.

Speaker 5 (15:37):
An overload one.

Speaker 1 (15:38):
Overload, but they crossed the outside guy.

Speaker 4 (15:40):
So basically Logan Larcien's just got to stay home and
basically send the pressure back and you gotta work inside out,
which gets a little tough sometimes when they're crossing, but
you still gotta kind of weed through that. And because
right if you're gonna go outside the shield, you're not
gonna be to block the kick because that's what the
shield's there for as long as it goes outside.

Speaker 1 (15:56):
So I think you might see someone else.

Speaker 4 (15:58):
I know, normally when a punk gets blocked, it's like
the world's ending in the football team like that, that'll
get it'll be it'll be talked about and they'll get
fixed on Monday. You might see someone else in the
punk shield just because you, like Coach n s would
alway tell us there's this stat. Obviously, then this would
be on the either side of the stat. But I
think it's like ninety three percent of teams who get
a punt blocked lose that game.

Speaker 1 (16:19):
Obviously, this game was out of the control.

Speaker 5 (16:20):
Wasn't any different guys than that shield heart is accustomed
to it. But yeah, if.

Speaker 1 (16:23):
You get a punt block, normally you lose the game.

Speaker 3 (16:25):
So obviously you get two. I mean the numbers gotta
be like ninety nine exactly. Yeah, defied the odds today.
We did defy the odds NDSU football for sure, and
then went for the fake as well. I think that
was a matter of the score being what the score
was there As NDYSU gets to win fifty nine to six,
a little out of hand in the second half, got
some punts blocked. Wasn't the cleanest day on special teams.

(16:46):
I think Phil gave them a D or an F
or something probably sounds about right. They did give the
offense an A, A flat out A. I mean, it
didn't go a plus if that's ever happened and Phil's
report cards, but an A very rare But I think
the offense deserved an A. To day, yeah, clean day,
no turnovers, continuously moved the ball, scored a bunch of points.
I definitely deserved an A on a fifty nine to

(17:07):
six win for the buyings in over. Murray State got
a couple other people who have texted in here to
the program as well. We'll get to them here quick.
Dan says, we are driving back. My brother lives near
Lacrosse and I live in Fargo. So Dan, well done
by is the nation you guys. That's that's impressive. It's
a long trip. How long is the drive? I'm sure
you're listening, so how long is that drive? Let us

(17:28):
know right now? Says at this I also said at
the start of the second half, did you guys see
Murray State coach tip the bench over so as players
couldn't sit down. We saw that because we were at
the game. I did not notice that one. That's awesome,
but I think that's that's good. Like again, we were
kind of giving some shots at Murray State. There's not
a I'm not going to a football team right now not
worthy of the Missouri Valley Football Conference. We think we

(17:50):
all kind of knew that when they were announced coming
into the conference, and we're like, this isn't gonna be this.
This might be worse than Western Illino, And I think
it's started to say they might be worse than Western
was at the end of their tenure here in the Valley.
But they're coming here to the Valley. This is where
they wanted to be. You careful what you're signing up for,
for what you wish for, because this is what you're
gonna get. It doesn't get any easier for them. They
have to go two Brookings.

Speaker 5 (18:10):
Now, you know you had.

Speaker 3 (18:12):
I think they got shut out against USD as well
earlier this year down at their place. So it hasn't
been an easy year for them. I don't expect to
get a whole lot easier here in the next couple
of years. But hey, Joe, you're right trying to install
a culture. If he did that, which I don't know,
I'm gonna trust Dan that was at the game here.

Speaker 5 (18:27):
I think that's good.

Speaker 3 (18:28):
I think that's kind of cool, trying to do something
to flip the culture, and he flipped the bench.

Speaker 4 (18:32):
Subjectively hilarious in my opinion. I would have loved to
be a fly on the wall on that sideline when
the coach comes over and it's like, you guys are
playing so bad, you don't deserve.

Speaker 1 (18:40):
To sit down.

Speaker 5 (18:41):
Yeah, you're staying in the standing.

Speaker 4 (18:42):
The rest of the game. But that's an interesting tactic
from the coach. I've never seen that before. I've been coached.
I've been on a lot of teams coached by a
lot of guys. I've never seen the no bench tactic.

Speaker 5 (18:52):
But we're going to see the install that Shanley Probably not,
probably not maybe.

Speaker 4 (18:56):
After a game on Friday, we probably but no, Yeah,
interesting then obviously, you know they have to fight their
battles down there and how their coach chooses, you know,
because that's doing the same thing over and over again
and expecting the different results. The definition of insanity, right, So,
Murray state, you gotta change something if you expect you're
gonna kind of write this ship around and kind of
get into the good graces of the Missouri Valuey Football Conference.

Speaker 3 (19:18):
Another one here from the Polish Bison. Tateack says, hello, gentlemen,
a great win against he says, Missouri State Murray State.
At least according to the refs, Murray State was clearly overmatched,
so not many good observations can be made of the game.
On to you and I. I grew with the last part. Honestly.
I know there was flags thrown. I've already forgotten most
of the Yeah, like I know, there was some offsides

(19:40):
for ANDYSU. Some people are talking about that too. Yes,
let's get the outsides figured out. Let's be offsides a
little less. Often had some backups, and they're not gonna
make too big of a deal of it. It was
more of a game of gay out there, get done
with the game, take care of business, get out of
as healthy as you can. I think the Bison were
fairly healthy. I think Carson Williams was down once, yep.
But most of the players, most the guys out there,

(20:00):
it looked like it was a fairly healthy day. And
with the way things have been going, I'll take a
win and a healthy win every the other week.

Speaker 4 (20:06):
Yeah, that's what we need, and especially if we can
just get through you and I and then get to
the bye week and have some time for guys to
heal up, go back see families, kind of take a
break from a mental break from football for about a day.

Speaker 3 (20:19):
In the first months because of August, September and an October.

Speaker 4 (20:22):
It's always a good time to just decompress a little bit,
take a little break, and then obviously get geared up
for the playoff.

Speaker 3 (20:26):
Push absolutely, Dan says, ten hours to Lacrosse six plus
on top of that to Fargo's sixteen hours.

Time for more reaction from today's game pure again as
your host Andy Rickoff.

Speaker 7 (25:11):
Delian Jumper, Queenwright, Carter and Hill wins stack left or
the run at Joe Hanson the quarterback heres third down
and two and the Bison thirty seven snafter Joe Hampson
four man push up front.

Speaker 3 (25:23):
He sets, he fires, flinging it down the hashmark to
the end zone, jumping ball and the ball is intercepted.
The interception there by Darius Gibbons gets the pick for
INDYSU and they would then go down the field and
score again. The defense and the offense in Unison today

(25:44):
and a blowout victory for NDSU fifty nine to six
over Murray State. The Bison gonna win their eighth n ROW.
Back here with you, I'm Bison Hotline Andy Rikoff and
Jake Cava as we break down this win for the Bison.
Ol Our game day coverage, by the way, brought to

Speaker 5 (26:20):
It for you.

Speaker 3 (26:20):
At Glass Doctor Otto of Fargo interception there for Darius Gibbons,
Jake we mentioned pregame, wanted to see this young secondary.
You don't have Cole as Nesky all season, you have
it now. Sam Young's down for the season as well.
It's gonna fall on Darius Gibbons. It's gonna fall on
Jayaln Crumby, It's gonna fall on Ryan Jones. This question
comes with obviously a grain of salt. We know the

(26:40):
opponent today, but those guys looked pretty good and Darius
with a nice pick there. They didn't allow the big
play over the top today.

Speaker 4 (26:47):
Yeah, I know, And it's been good to see Darius
Gibbons some kind of coming to his own a little bit.

Speaker 1 (26:51):
He's a kid. He has all the physical tools to be.

Speaker 4 (26:53):
A really really good football player at the college level
and even at the like next level.

Speaker 1 (26:58):
He's that type of athlete.

Speaker 4 (26:59):
But just to see him, you know, be comfortable kind
of with the game plan, be comfortable with where he's
at and the defense and kind of start to feel
the game have a little bit better feel. I think
that votes really well going forward for us, Like you said,
because we are down Sam and obviously colesman out the
entire season.

Speaker 1 (27:15):
I thought Ryan Jones played good too.

Speaker 4 (27:17):
Obviously we know the opponent isn't the best opponent NBCU
will see all season, but I think just for Ryan's
confidence going forward, you know, he kind of had a
starting the season, got pulled, so you worry about where's
his confidence at. But a game like this is a
good kind of building block to keep playing better football
as we go forward into the into the latter half
of the season.

Speaker 3 (27:36):
Well, I think we saw with Ryan the big thing
was tackles and not really being able to make the tackles,
but the day got five of them, the second on
the team and tackles Marcus Scully got six total. Again,
we know the opponent, but Ryan Jones the main thing
is tackling today he tackled well and Darius Gibbons had
four tackles, an interception, a couple of solo tackles out
there as well. Crumby three tackles, So good day for
the guys in the secondary.

Speaker 4 (27:57):
Yeah, like you said, just young group and just they
just get a little bit better each day and you know,
we'll be okay at the end of the season. I
think Coach Clemb's done a really good job with those
guys and all day I think they were late really well.

Speaker 1 (28:08):
Then obviouly Coach clemens our age.

Speaker 4 (28:11):
He's he's a young coach, but uh yeah, so it's
good to see and the excited for those guys between
he's between our age, yeah.

Speaker 3 (28:18):
Older than he was letting, younger than me Sam Niederman's age. Yes,
the voice of the Bison right there, and I think
he'll be joining the Voice of the Bison, Sam Niederman
on the show.

Speaker 5 (28:27):
I think it's I think so.

Speaker 3 (28:29):
I think it was supposed to be this last week
and I had to switch it up, So I think
this week would be Devin Cleman potentially at the Coaches
Show this next Thursday. Over at the Holiday Inn at
six thirty, you can hear coach paula second then another
assistant coach, and some players every single week. This last
week you could hear Roger Nelson and Braylan Henderson. They
were both out there together and they did job back

(28:50):
and forth at each other.

Speaker 1 (28:51):
A little bit yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 3 (28:52):
It reminds me a little bit of you know, the
the running backs back in the day, and you got
you know, Lance Dunn, Bryce Anderson, Brooks.

Speaker 1 (29:01):
T Brooks ever stopped talking.

Speaker 4 (29:02):
Never right there with We're in a group shot with I, I Brooks,
all of us older former players and yeah dude.

Speaker 3 (29:10):
Yes Jonas and moorehead texts into the program says, Hi, guys,
the o line played really well, especially the play of
Jack Lewinsky. Not easy to play the offensive line and
to have a great day in the valley. Yes, Jonas,
good observation. A couple of guys we didn't touch on
on the the injury report this morning. They actually did
not play today. Griffin Emp did not play and Will

(29:31):
Mostart also did not play today. Allowed for some younger
guys to get some run. I think those are more
precautionary ish. Now, if this was the championship game, and
I think those guys are playing knowing the opponent, I
think they were also wanting to be precautional just because
of the opponent, like, oh, we don't got to play
our guys. I think it was more so we've got
Northern Iowa, We've got two more regular season games. We's
got the longevity of the season. We've got to make

(29:52):
sure we're taking care of right now and the future
a way to try and do both. So yeah, no
Griffin Empy. Today for the first time, Jack Lewinski steps
in and I thought he played well.

Speaker 1 (30:00):
Yeah, I was really impressed with Jack. Hees. He kind
of impressed me when he came in.

Speaker 4 (30:03):
He was obviously a scout offensive lineman last year when
I was a senior, but obviously comes from a really
good football family. His his dad, Chris, I believe, played
for the Vikings and actually works for the same company
that I work for as my day job, so he's
a colleague.

Speaker 1 (30:16):
But yeah, so really happy for Jack.

Speaker 4 (30:19):
And uh he's an urt young so it would have
been last So this empy him that recruiting class Coach
Larson so the red shirt freshman this year, that was
a home run offensive line recruiting class. Kind of seems
like that those guys, like when we talk about like
bos in that one, like that's gonna be one of
the classes. Are like in three years when we have

(30:39):
all these guys who feel like they've been starting forever.

Speaker 1 (30:42):
And it's like wow, like we have three all may
like it's.

Speaker 4 (30:45):
Gonna look back to the twenty twenty three recruiters lineman
because coach Larson coach and did a great job with
that class.

Speaker 3 (30:52):
Yeah, Jack Lewinsky, son of Chris and Nicole. His father,
Chris was an offensive lineman at Indiana.

Speaker 5 (30:57):
I'm sure he's having a great year right now.

Speaker 3 (30:59):
Indiana penomenally year they want again today, So Chris is
probably feeling good. And like you said, a ten year
NFL career with the Vikings from nineteen ninety eight to
two thousand and five. Also played with the Cardinals and
the Dolphins, So yes, a long career there in the NFL.

Speaker 5 (31:13):
Jackson.

Speaker 3 (31:13):
Pretty good pedigree there from his parents, so looking forward
to him, I thought he did play really well. It's
good to know you have some backups him, Bo Johnson,
We've seen some of the depth there. Some of the
other young guys gonna get a chance to play a
little bit. And that second offensive line didn't look too
bad either, even when Nathan Hayes was in there, he
wasn't getting pressured in awful lot, so good stuff there
on the offensive line. Loved that text from your Jonas.

(31:34):
Thanks for texting in here to Bizon hotline seven zero
one four seven six sixteen sixty. Also Nick with a
text in says, it appears the revs for Murray are
the same from last week Nick in Newburgh, Oregon. The
text in here, thanks for the text, Nick, and people just.

Speaker 5 (31:49):
Going after the rests.

Speaker 3 (31:50):
So we just love to hate revs as sports fans
no matter what. It was probably like one of the
first plays of the game because it came in before
that first half was even over.

Speaker 5 (31:58):
That text did love to hate refs.

Speaker 3 (32:00):
Actually, I honestly do not know of anything the rest
did that was like, oh my gosh, what are you
looking at?

Speaker 5 (32:05):
The one thing that did annoy movie.

Speaker 3 (32:07):
There's a number of reviews that was kind of annoying
and it took too long.

Speaker 4 (32:10):
We actually just had some referees walk into Applebe's here
in costumes.

Speaker 5 (32:14):
So there in the scary Yeah, hopefully.

Speaker 4 (32:17):
They're better refs than all the Ruffians refe No, you can't.
I mean watch the NFL. Those are the top top,
the top dogs of referees, and they're missing face masks
against the Vikings and the most important part of the game.

Speaker 3 (32:29):
Didn't have a good view, didn't have a good view.
I didn't have a good view. They were immeding you
away from it. Didn't have a good view above that
one happening.

the Dakota Refrigeration player.

Speaker 1 (36:56):
Of the game.

Speaker 3 (36:58):
Here's a second a goal from the three, and off
to Marty. Get into the end zone close to the
goal line. One official in a signal and we will
take it.

Speaker 7 (37:06):
Touchdown and DSU Marty Brown in there from three yards out,
his second rushing touchdown of the game. And the Bazon
continue to march down the field and will they have
opened up eight twenty seven to nothing lead early in
the second quarter here at Bury States, and that lead

(37:27):
would continue to grow.

Speaker 3 (37:28):
Big time touchdown run there for Marty Brown, one of
three on the day for the red shirt freshman running
back out of Omaha, Nebraska.

Speaker 5 (37:36):
Phenomenal day for Marty.

Speaker 3 (37:38):
Thirteen carries ninety seven yards, three touchdowns on the ground,
a long of twenty eight and an average of seven
and a half yards per carry. The only reason he
didn't get one hundred yards because the defense was making
the fields too short for the offense to get a
few more there. For Marty, he will be our Dakota
Refrigeration Cool Performer of the Game, our Cool Athlete of
the Game. Brought to you by d R Dakota Refrigeration.

to brag, but he was my player to watch.

Speaker 1 (38:17):
He was yet you had a pretty good week with
the picks, with the.

Speaker 3 (38:19):
Ad fifty two to six and we got that last touchdown.

Speaker 5 (38:23):
I was happy, but also a little upset.

Speaker 1 (38:24):
And wasn't Darius Givens your guy to watch on defense?

Speaker 16 (38:27):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (38:28):
Oh wow, it's you go to Hankinson. No, No, it
was a good game for Marty. We we know he
is the has been running really well too. But I
think Marty is kind of the feature back in our offense. Now,
obviously we see with his thirteen carries, I guess Algo
got twelve, but that was obviously.

Speaker 5 (38:44):
Peter how Goes the feature back.

Speaker 3 (38:45):
YEAHA did have six carries for fifty six nine point
three A carries.

Speaker 1 (38:49):
Yeah, but no, no charmar.

Speaker 4 (38:51):
Marty is just he's He's the next one in that
line of you know we were talking about earlier, you know,
Lance dun Bruce Anderson, Uh Crockett like saying, like those
guys like Marty Brown, I think is gonna find himself
if he stays in the issue, which is a big
if in today's college football world. He can find himself
in that kind of rare era of those type of backs.

Speaker 5 (39:12):
I don't know why you would leave. I mean, I
get why you, I know what it is.

Speaker 3 (39:15):
But when you're getting the kind of run exactly when
Barrika getting older too, like Marty's gonna be the guy,
He's gonna be the future back. And if you go
somewhere and you're I.

Speaker 5 (39:22):
Think I guaranteed to be the future back, it's just
not as good for you.

Speaker 4 (39:25):
The only place I would worry about is just here Nebraska, right,
Omaha kid, an Omaha kid, rule came calling. I'm pretty
sure I think all those guys on their football team
are making like six figures from the collective.

Speaker 3 (39:36):
Let's help the Green and Goal collective and let's go
these guys here. Absolutely, one hundred percent. Marty Brown needs
to stay here, and he should stay here. Look at
the carries. Look at the the usage he's getting. Thirteen
carries ninety seven you heard three touchdowns. Great work by
Marty Brown. Again our dri cool athlete of the game,
the cool performer as a Bison. Get to win fifty
nine to six over Murray State. Again, call text seven

(39:58):
zero one four seven six sixteen sixty as the number
to be a part of bindes a hotline today. Davin
Mine not did that. He said, well, Market America might
have been right that this was a bye week. Only
good I can think of is that at least we
don't have to play Marie for two years. Also, do
we lead the nation in off sides? Yes, we're offsides
a few times. Some of the backups I think Logan
Larson was once a few other guys I can clean

(40:21):
it up. I agree we need to clean it up
a little bit. Some games that could come back to
bite you. A little bit been offsides too much, a
little overly amped up on that defensive line. But to
the other point, maybe Market in America was right. Yeah,
you know, I know it wasn't a bye week. They
have scholarship athletes. But boy, the thing about it was
really the second half for me. Okay, the first half
was what the first half was. Have some pride come

(40:41):
out in that second half and try and make a
couple of drives, because they did put some drives together
and then they just missed fuel goals or had some
negative plays. They come on the second half and it's turnover, turnover,
and it's interception on an awful pass. You had a
guy opened and completely missed them. And then it's a
fumble by the backup quarterback that comes in there and
just drops the ball. It wasn't like someone was really
punching at it or raking at it. It was just like

(41:02):
a gen run of the mill tackle, yeah, and drop
the ball. And that was like, I don't know, I
have some pride or something.

Speaker 5 (41:10):
A fumble Rooski Yeah, a little bit.

Speaker 3 (41:12):
So completely not wrong against Mark in America, but at
the same time, you did have to go out there
and win and put a team away early on in
INNDISU definitely did that intro out to a fifty nine
to six win here over Murray State. A few more
things that's touched on this game, and we can also
look forward here to the game against Northern I would
also to give you a look at the scoreboard. Some
other games going on right now in Valley playing. A

(41:33):
few more coming up here in just a little bit.
One big one coming up in about fifty minutes from
right now with STSU and USD. A few other things
take away in this one. Cam Miller phenomenal once again.
I love what we saw from Cambell that they kind
of got him out fairly early. He was out in
the middle of that second quarter. Cam goes five to
five eight and two touchdowns. Nathan Hayes though nine to

(41:55):
fifteen and two touchdowns, sixty percent completion percentage, quarterback rating
of one one eighty three in this game. Bryce Lance
as well four receptions and ends up with three touchdowns
in this game one hundred and eight yards. That was
pretty special stuff from Bryce Lance to that. Overall, the
entire offense was just really really good. That was just
some first half numbers for you to put it into perspective.

Speaker 4 (42:17):
Yeah, I think it's just one of those games, you know,
where Jake Landry could literally just close his eyes and
point at the call sheet and that play was gonna
wink right, just with how we were executing up front
and just cam Miller doing cam Miller things. I mean,
you and I could have called that game and probably
got these accident results.

Speaker 3 (42:33):
You really think still, I take that. I'm honored you
to even say something like that about me. Also the
running game, Lets go through a few of the stats
they we mentioned. Marty Brown and Barika's numbers yere thirteen
of ninety seven and six of fifty six, respectfully. On
the ground, TK Marshall five carries for ten yards, about
Nathan Hayes three carries fifteen yards. Peter Hango in there
for twelve carries, only got seven yards though four was

(42:55):
his long. Whether it's some of the backup offensive linemen
in front of him, Jackson Williams in there as well.
One carr eat four seven yards and then receiving. Great
to see Tyler Terrhark back out on the field had
a catch today one reception for eleven yards. Brayln Henderson
one for fifteen yards. That was on the very first drive.
Peter Hango also a reception out of the backfield reception
play for nineteen yards and your boy, Our boy, Everyone's favorite,

(43:19):
Johnny goreris back on the sheet today. Johnny Gores sighting
has two receptions twenty two yards and yes, a touchdown,
even though there's one that ended up breaking my prediction.
I won't punish him any any for that one. Johnny
Gore is now Johnny scores.

Speaker 1 (43:32):
Johnny scores. Yeah, it just makes big plays.

Speaker 4 (43:35):
Obviously it wasn't really a big time playing a big
time moment, but honestly, the throw by Nathan Hayes is
just that slant route and the going that's a tough
throw for quarterbacks to make you be on time with it.
You can't put it behind him in front of him
because it gets tip. There's dB sitting right there. So
it's good play by the by the two young young men.
Johnny scores. And we got to think of a nickname
now for for Nathan Hayes. I'll be thinking of that. Yeah,

(43:57):
let's think about that. Workshop it over the next minute.
Something will happen by the end of the end of
the show. If you guys have a good nickname for
uh Nathan Hayes. Send them a way seven zero one
four seven six sixty sixty. We'll take a break back
with more reaction to this one and a look at
our Jippylopafargo's scoreboard, and we come back here next live

He will store touchdown by s pick six for a
DSU NFC docs Cebomana his first career touchdown up pick
six off the tip drill and the byes that are
pouring it on here in the first quarter, ayleid Murray
State twenty to ihing.

Speaker 5 (48:50):
Big time play hey by the Boyson.

Speaker 3 (48:52):
On defense as well, today we talked a lot about
the offense, the defense playing well. A pick six there
from Enoxy Bumana in in the place of Oscar Benson
starting today. How about that right after the Bison scored
a touchdown on the deep pass to Bryce Lance, two
plays later they have a third and eight for Murray
State Racers.

Speaker 5 (49:09):
Go back.

Speaker 3 (49:10):
They throw on it right off the tip drill. Enoch
there takes it back for six. The defense making some
big plays today.

Speaker 1 (49:15):
Two. Yeah, we got we got out of the gates
fast the starter games.

Speaker 5 (49:19):
It was a quick start.

Speaker 4 (49:20):
We were off to the races old the racers. No,
but yeah, it was fun to see Enoch make a
play like that. And Knock's a really good football player.
I think we got to find a way defensively just
and I think he does play quite a bit, especially
with Oscar Bey well banged up, but he just has
a knackt like he always say, like a Noles for
the football. He just always shows up where the ball
is at. And that's a really good and he's a
really good athlete.

Speaker 3 (49:39):
Yeah, say, we got to find a way to get
him on the field. When we found a way, just
get half the defense. That's the way we get him
on the field a little bit more. And it's a
good thing. Indy issues got depth like him to be
able to put him on the field and makes a
big play today. NDSU gets to win fifty nine to
six over Murray State. Again, you can call into the
program seven zero one four seven six, sixteen to six.

(50:00):
Mark in America has done. So Mark here with us
on the line. How are you doing, Sarah? It turned
out to be a little bit more like your prediction
last week, I'll admit it to you.

Speaker 15 (50:10):
Well, first off, a hat tipped to David mine not
for the you know, for the for the credit and Jake,
I believe I called this last week and now it
was it was what the game, what the guys needed.
And Andy, listen to you on the on the drive

(50:32):
up out of Tennessee. So it's the land between the lakes.
It's a beautiful area. I know you like going exploring
national parks, so put this on your list as far
as when you get a week off, go and hang out.
It's between the Cumberland River and the Tennessee River, and
it's a beautiful area. Right now. There's red, there's greens,

(50:55):
there's there's yellows and gold and oranges.

Speaker 3 (50:59):
All you talk about the state park that they the
team was staying at, is that what you're talking about?

Speaker 5 (51:02):
Mark?

Speaker 15 (51:03):
Yeah? Yeah, I literally, okay, I literally just passed over
Lake uh Lake Barclay, which.

Speaker 3 (51:11):
Is the I heard that the team stayed at a
Nashville or at a state park there. So that was
just it was interesting, So I will try and check
that one out. I know the Bison will be back
down in that general area of the country here this
next year, maybe a whole trip out there, making my
way through that part of the country.

Speaker 5 (51:27):
I hear it's gorgeous.

Speaker 15 (51:29):
Oh it's guys, I'm telling you what, Bison Nation. You've
got eleven days next year to go explore Charleston, Ashville, Gatlinburg, Severeville,
Pigeon Forde and then get to Nashville and let's paint
Lower Broadway next September green and gold Thursday night, Friday night,

(51:52):
Saturday night after an easy wins making make it a
twelve day trip.

Speaker 4 (51:58):
And that's when you're overtopping bar tab down there, right, yeah,
all on, Mark for sure?

Speaker 3 (52:03):
Is that game next year at Nashville? Is that also
a bye week? Are you ready to proclaim that one
right now?

Speaker 15 (52:11):
Not yet, but you know, my good friend Kevin Marshall,
I might be willing to flame that one of the
bye week, just to pick on Kevin Marshall a little bit.

Speaker 3 (52:22):
Okay, Citadel's Well, thank you, Mark, thanks for the call
in today. I appreciate that anyone else feel free to
call us up it little right on the bye week.

Speaker 5 (52:29):
Murray State was not up to the task to day.
They just weren't.

Speaker 3 (52:31):
I don't think they will be next week when they
go on the road to Brookings to take on SDSU
either That one could get ugly. They'll not be on
the Bison's schedule the next couple of years, I don't believe.
So that's how the Missouri Valley goes, and Murray State
won't be on there here for a couple of years.
You know they are when they are back on the
schedule here for the Bison again. Fifty nine to six.
NDSU gets the win. I agree with them. That will

(52:53):
be quite the trip next year down to the Citadel
and then Nashville taking on Tennessee State next year for NDSU.
If you haven't already, go ahead and book that trip.
It will be a fun one. If you ever been
to Nashville, I've been there is I'm excited.

Speaker 4 (53:05):
I got some friends that live down there, and I've
never heard a bad thing about Nashville.

Speaker 3 (53:09):
I've been there a couple of times. Phenomenal plays, lots
of fun, lots of country music. If you like that,
you're gonna love Nashville. It's pretty easy and pretty obvious
spot there for you. It will be at the Tennessee
Titans Stadium, which is right down Broadway, Nissant. Yeah, right now,
they're getting a new one soon is but yeah, basically
Broadway leads right down to the river.

Speaker 5 (53:27):
There's the river.

Speaker 3 (53:27):
The other side of that is the stadium, So pre
fixturesque there for Bison Nation to be able to walk
across the bridges and go right into the stadium after
being in downtown Nashville. That is next year, still got
some more games to play obviously. This year, let's stay
in the present. Next to PARENDIUSU, they come back home
a game against Northern Iowa. We are giving away tickets
to that game here at Applebee's. Your thoughts on the

(53:49):
Panthers and how that game is going to go. Clearly
not the same team we are maybe accustomed to. They
have been very much down this year. But I will
say this first half here against Missouri State right now,
twenty one to twenty one with the Bears, who were
undefeated in Valdly play. They do this almost every year,
they try and make some sort of late stand. I
think it's already too late. They're two and five right now,

(54:10):
but that game against Northern I what next week here
in the far Good.

Speaker 4 (54:13):
Yeah, that's why I was when you're kind of teeing
that up, I was going to look just find the score,
seeing that that's twenty one.

Speaker 1 (54:19):
That's an interesting score.

Speaker 4 (54:20):
Yeah, because we kind of had well we talked about
this last week in the pregame before STS. You just
maybe it's time we just kind of give up on
you and I, you know, because there've always been kind
of one of those like fun and frisky teams, as
Big Cat would say, uh, you know, like theyll any
week they could take you exactly, and maybe this year
we were like, ah, they're just probably bad. But now
they're going toe to toe with Most State.

Speaker 1 (54:41):
Is this in?

Speaker 4 (54:41):
Is it that the UNI Dome? Is that the Union
dos that helps out if they win this game? I
mean that could be interesting with them coming with a
little bit of confidence into the Dome. And obviously there's
some animosity between the programs. Coach Farley obviously didn't get along,
doesn't get along with the Bison, and Bison will get
along with him. So obviously at India seas gonna be

(55:02):
heavily favored in this game.

Speaker 3 (55:03):
But you and Tim Poulis I talk about it, He's
like there's still pride in that program. He's used to
it being what it was. It was an absolute war.
Since he's been gone, it hasn't quite been that way,
but that's what he remembers. And I'm sure he's gonna
have the guys ready for it.

Speaker 4 (55:15):
Yeah, And like I think Guindy said this too on air,
like I'm sure you and I will have no problem
getting up for a game at the Fargo Dome.

Speaker 1 (55:20):
Like there's the teams don't like.

Speaker 4 (55:21):
Each other, so I would I would not be surprised
to have a four quarter football game in the Fargo
Dome next week.

Speaker 3 (55:26):
Yeah, two thirty kick if there be loud, make a
difference like you guys did make against SDSU and U
and D for sure made a huge difference in those games.
To get there and do the same thing next Saturday,
NDSU against Northern. I went back to that two thirty
traditional traditional time slot for bids and football at home.
We'll go through our jiffy Luba Fargo scoreboard in just
a little bit, though, let's take another time out. Then

(55:48):
we'll come back and we'll go through the scoreboard here.

Here's a Snap to Hayes playoff in the Marshall's playing round.

Speaker 7 (01:00:03):
Last complete touchdown Buyson Bryce Lance with the touchdown catch
his third touchdown grab of this first half and the
first touchdown pass in the career of Nathan Hayes seven
yards for the score. And with the final second still
remaining here on this first half, the Bison put an

(01:00:25):
exclamation point on a dominant first thirty minutes.

Speaker 3 (01:00:28):
They lead Murray State forty one to three, dominant win
indeed fifty nine to six the final NDSU beats Murray
State today and how about that the first career touchdown.

Speaker 5 (01:00:40):
Pass in the history for Nathan Hayes.

Speaker 3 (01:00:42):
Well done to that young man. NDSU they get the
victory today and he throws that first touchdown passing Bryce Lance,
who had three touchdowns are receiving in this game on
four receptions for one hundred and eight yards. Nathan Hayes
goes nine to fifteen to one, four two touchdowns, no picks,
sixty some percentage. What did you take away from number
twelve they're Nathan Hayes. We said, coming in, you don't

(01:01:04):
have Col Peyton anymore. He's elevated to the backup role.
You know, Tim Poulis say he's gonna take on a
bigger role during the week. You have to be extra prepared.
You never know when that name is gonna get called.
Got called to day and I thought he responded to it. Well.

Speaker 1 (01:01:16):
Yeah, I thought I thought he played well.

Speaker 4 (01:01:17):
I thought he he throws the ball accurately, throws it well,
he can push the ball down field a little bit.
And I thought he had some good poison the pockets
a couple of times, or you know, he uses his
legs and kind of tucked it and ran on a
bootleg I remember, And he's he's a little.

Speaker 1 (01:01:31):
Bit more mobile.

Speaker 4 (01:01:32):
I would put him kind of right in between, like, yeah,
obviously have Cam's not not mobiles. I don't think I'm
saying like Cam's a bad athlete, but you have Cam,
Nathan and then Cole and I think, you know, Nathan
Hayes is able to maybe hit the home run with
his legs a little bit better than Cam.

Speaker 5 (01:01:46):
And I think both Cam and Cole even said he's
the pastest quarterback.

Speaker 1 (01:01:49):
Yeah, so and just I don't know.

Speaker 4 (01:01:51):
I'm excited. Hopefully we don't have to see him right
at all this year, but if we do, I'm confident
that he can. He'll be able to move the ball
on offense with the guys we have around them, hopefully
when we see him. This tastes like this out of hand.
We see him because it's out of hand, and that's
when it happens. But good to have some depth there.

Speaker 3 (01:02:08):
Again, with a grain of salt, but someone you see
has talent, has ability behind cam Miller.

Speaker 5 (01:02:13):
Still, it's always good.

Speaker 3 (01:02:14):
To cultivate depth, especially at that quarterback position, the most
important position in football. So well done there by Nathan
Hayes as the Bison winning again fifty nine to six
over Murray State, taking the Racers now to one in
seven on the season, still looking for that first win
in the Missouri Valley Football Conference. Before we take a
look at the Jiffy Lube beforego scoreboard, let's pause ten

the next week's game at home against the Panthers. Speaking
of the Panthers, we mentioned already twenty one to twenty one.
Right now, they're a game with Missouri State. At that

(01:03:13):
halftime there, I believe I will get you an update
there as they go into the half. Also, un D
on the road at Youngstown State fourteen thirteen, the Penguins
scored they are on their most recent drive and took
the lead up by one. Un D has it four
forty to go in the first half on their own
about thirty eight yard line right now, trying to go
down and retake the lead.

Speaker 1 (01:03:34):
Yeah, I really hope Young Sun State wins this game.

Speaker 5 (01:03:38):
Short and sweet, I like it.

Speaker 3 (01:03:40):
And this is what you and D has to prove though,
right if you're going to be a top ten team,
and you know they're currently ranked as one, if you're
going to actually be one, you have to win these
games on the road. This is the next progression of
being a good football team is winning games like this
on the road. If they can come back, come back
from being down one and win this game, then that
at least shows something that the valley is getting even better.

(01:04:02):
Maybe another solid ish tea.

Speaker 4 (01:04:04):
Yeah, I just it just baffles me how U and
D's a good foot but they've been so mediocre on
the road the past, like right five years, Like, okay,
we're not taking coach buses and sitting on a bus
for fifteen hours anymore.

Speaker 5 (01:04:17):
Like where you go against some of the bad teams
in the conference.

Speaker 1 (01:04:20):
Yeah, yeah, but you go to the air by way games.

So I don't know why some teams, it just seems
like maybe it's a mental block, kind of like the
mental block Getdi referred to with getting over that hump
of beating STSU. But it'll be interesting to see if
you and D can win at the ice Castle tonight.

Speaker 3 (01:04:45):
They have the ball now first and ten at their
own forty eight. Also, Indiana State gets a win today
Sycamores two in the Valley to a too in Valley
play for Indiana State, they win twenty to seventeen at
home today. They were down seventeen nothing at the half
against Southern Illinois. They give up seventeen points in that
second quarter, but then this Lukies didn't score again the
rest of the game, twenty unanswered. Indiana State wins at

(01:05:06):
twenty to seventeen. So Lukies, man, they're banged up. They
so many injuries. This is one of those years they're
kind of similar to NDSU. The Bison have had a
ton of injuries. It seems like every single week they're
adding to the injury list right now, but this is
the perfect example of the depth at NDSU has greater
than the depth somewhere else. Southern Illinois just you haven't
been able to survive the amount of injuries they've had,

(01:05:26):
especially at the quarterbacks spot where they've had multiple quarterbacks
go down with season ending injuries.

Speaker 4 (01:05:31):
Yeah, and that was a team I remember talking kind
of week one, week two. Just they're playing a really
tough non conference schedule and you're seeing like how that
was gonna, you know, affect their playoff seed income playoff time.

Speaker 1 (01:05:43):
I don't think SONI is not going to the playoffs.
So now two and six, sure, yeah, but that's interesting.

Speaker 25 (01:05:49):
I know.

Speaker 4 (01:05:50):
Obviously the injuries are one thing. But coach Hill down
there is a good coach in the last five to
six years, has been probably number three team, yeah, three
or four war in the Missouri Valley.

Speaker 1 (01:06:02):
So you know, just that's it.

Speaker 4 (01:06:04):
You can't like it's tough to do. The injury bug
is just it's undefeated. If you get by the injury bug,
it's tough. It is very tough right now. They they're
going through it. Lost to Indiana State. Congrat with the
Sycamore three five home two in Valley play.

Speaker 1 (01:06:16):
Well, okay, if Larry Bird was there.

Speaker 3 (01:06:18):
By the way, it was homecoming today from Murie State
to a scheduled the homecoming against NDISU. Had another referee
walk into Adam. We were giving the reps some flak earlier,
but we got some referees here in the building. Halloween
weekend coming up on us here in uh well, let
me say Fargo, but everywhere. Halloween coming up on us
here at the end of October. Also a big game

(01:06:38):
down in Brookings kicking off here at six thirty USD
at SDSU. That one is on ESPNU was a top
four matchup number three SDSU hosting number four us D.
I only talked about this on pre game, but just
for people that may have missed it, Jake, what are
you expecting in that game?

Speaker 5 (01:06:53):
SDS?

Speaker 3 (01:06:54):
You a bit banged up themselves from the marker game
that was extremely physical. USD six and one undefeated versus
the FCS. You've got SDSU, who's the defending champs, typically
better than USD. But this is a chance with the
Coyotes to kind of rise up here.

Speaker 4 (01:07:08):
Yeah, I mean, that's gonna be an extremely physical football game.
I mean, what a perfect I'm assuming the weather in
Brookings is similar to the weather here, so just beautiful
night for football. It's gonna be a packed house down there.
We're gonna see if USD is for real in this game.
If us D, I'm not saying they have to win,
but they if they can go into Brookings play four quarters,
maybe keep it within a touchdown, so at least at

(01:07:30):
some point in the fourth quarter you have a chance
to go win the game, and I'll be like, Okay,
USD maybe they're a little they've kind of reached the
level of ust in South Dakota State, or they're gonna
go in there and South Coastate.

Speaker 1 (01:07:42):
It's gonna win by thirty five. Yeah, so we're gonna
see a lot.

Speaker 4 (01:07:45):
But my non expert opinion, I think STSU wins by
a field goal. I think it's gonna be a one
score game either way. I think USD is doing a
lot of good things this year.

Speaker 3 (01:07:55):
STSU favored by the way eight and a half point
favorites over under fifty and half.

Speaker 5 (01:08:00):
I tend to think slightly under.

Speaker 3 (01:08:02):
I think it's a decent defense and stsu's defense just
looked really really good last week. And get the Bison's
offense that was here in Fargo as well. I think
they'll be amped up for this one. I think maybe
a lower scoring game and maybe a slightly closer game
to that, but I also could see SDSU blowing them out.

Speaker 1 (01:08:15):
That's gonna happen.

Speaker 5 (01:08:16):
Now you will wait and see. You got USD.

Speaker 3 (01:08:18):
I think it was good this year, but you have
to prove it, and until you actually prove it against
NDSU or SDSU and I know they beat the Bison
here in Fargo last year, but then they got boat
racing the playoffs at their place. Until you can prove
it on a couple of straight games against these teams,
we're not gonna think.

Speaker 5 (01:08:31):
You're gonna do it.

Speaker 4 (01:08:32):
And that's their challenge, right, Yeah, that was one thing
even with the USD game last YEARK obviously they can't
up and beat us on our homecoming, but that was
one of those things where even going into the playoff game,
it was like we knew if we saw them again,
we were going to handle them very like pretty easily.
Like obviously you don't you don't say that, but like
we kind of we had that felt good. We felt
like okay, yeah, like we have well we know how

(01:08:53):
it would happen.

Speaker 1 (01:08:54):
We don't need to get into that we.

Speaker 4 (01:08:55):
Lost, but we were like, okay, when we play these
guys again, this is gonna go like you didn't your
best exactly, It's going to one completely different way. So
maybe that's where I'm kind of interested to see. Is
USD one of those teams? Now are you playing? And
it's like okay, like every time we play those guys,
like when you play STSC like every time you play them,
it could go either way based on one or two plays.

Speaker 3 (01:09:14):
A couple of Big Sky scores for you as well.
Montana wins twenty four to nothing at Northern Colorado. The
grizz of rebounded here all of a sudden six and two,
three and one in the Big Sky. I know some
bad losses early in the year, or some close games
even early in the year that weren't great, But right
now six and two, three and one kind of doing
the same thing.

Speaker 5 (01:09:30):
They did a year ago.

Speaker 3 (01:09:31):
Started off poorly, got really rolling there in October, and
then finished off strong. So a twenty four nothing win
for them today. Sack State Idaho State tied at fourteen.
Was six minutes ago in the first half of an
Eastern Washington coming up here in about two hours. They're
on the road at Moscow, Idaho against the Idaho Vandals.
That's another look at some scores out in the Big Sky.

(01:09:52):
One other one we kept a tab on in the CIA.
Rhode Island's having a really good year. This year might
be the cream of the crop in the CAAA. Don't
know exactly what that means, but there you go. There's
seven and one, four to oh in the CIA after
a twenty four to fourteen home win against Maine, and
Maine clapperd Villanova last week. So I don't know if
we want to compare scorers, but there's a win for
Rhode Island now seven and one, still undefeated against CIA

(01:10:15):
opponents there four and oh in conference. How about some
top twenty five FBS results for you today? We do
have some finals. Notre Dame beats Navy fifty one to fourteen.
Ohio State comes back late, scores a touchdown with six
minutes left, and they win twenty one seventeen at home
against Nebraska, Number eighteen Ole miss twenty six to fourteen
at home against Oklahoma. Indiana improves to eight and oh.

(01:10:38):
The Hoosiers win it thirty one to seventeen against Washington.
A couple of finals from that kind of early window
of college football. And then you can also see Alabama.
We were all kind of like, what happens if Bama loses?

Speaker 5 (01:10:50):
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (01:10:51):
They didn't lose today, thirty four nothing. They beat Missouri
at home, so the Crimson Tide get back in the win.
Call him improved to six and two. Oregon also thirty
eight to nine at home against number twenty Illinois that
was the number one team in the country, the Oregon Ducks.
Any of those results surprise you at all or what's
the most surprising one there?

Speaker 1 (01:11:11):
Well, I'm looking at the Vandy Texas.

Speaker 5 (01:11:13):
Game right now.

Speaker 3 (01:11:14):
Twenty four seventeen, number five Texas against number twenty five Vanderbilt.
Definitely not a done deal. Vandy trying to do it again. Yeah,
they beat Alabama at home. Now at home again and
they're trying to take down the Longhorns. Only down by
seven points right now with the ball.

Speaker 4 (01:11:29):
After with the ball seven Vanity, punch this in and
go for two, and you knock off Texas and Bama
and holy crap, Broadway's and be going crazy.

Speaker 5 (01:11:35):
Then yeah, this could happen. And that's when we're in Nashville.

Speaker 3 (01:11:38):
There's gonna be a lot of goalposts down and believe.

Speaker 5 (01:11:40):
The Cumberland River is it it's in Nashville too.

Speaker 3 (01:11:43):
Oh yeah, this one's at Vandy, Vandy home, those goal
posts to be back in the marching down Broadway once
again if they pull this one off against the Longhorns.

Speaker 5 (01:11:50):
But at that point that it's like, hey, we're used
to this exactly.

Speaker 3 (01:11:52):
No more rushing the field, and then the fans and
the students would be like, no, we kind of want
to rush the field.

Speaker 5 (01:11:56):
It's it's kind of fun for us.

Speaker 3 (01:11:58):
But become an old hat there in Vanda all of
a sudden in the top twenty five, at number twenty
five right now, five and two overall, two and one
in the SEC. Was surprised, you know, howse to have
in some trouble at home against Nebraska, but they get
the win.

Speaker 4 (01:12:09):
Yeah, I thought that was gonna be a little bit
more of a one side, one side of the fair.
I think Dylan Royola he's a good quarterback. Sometimes his
decision making makes me scratch my head about you know,
why do you forces?

Speaker 1 (01:12:20):
But he's a young kid. He's probably eighteen. He's a freshman.
He's eighteen years old.

Speaker 4 (01:12:24):
So he'll get better. But I think Matt Rule's got
a good thing going in Nebraska. Nebraska's going to be
a team. They are a team on the rise.

Speaker 3 (01:12:31):
But I think, you know, the third year is where
he's really taken off before you can you can sense
it right now. Second you can kind of send some
things to change exactly.

Speaker 4 (01:12:37):
Yeah, So I think Nebraska being good is good for
college football, just like when USC is good, When all
the kind of the blue bloods of college football are good,
it makes for more entertaining game, better TV, better radio.
So I'm also kind of the red bloods. I feel
like the red bludd in football. Almost the bloods, I guess.
But Oklahoma, Nebraska, Alabama, Obama. George's got some red in

(01:12:59):
there as well.

Speaker 3 (01:12:59):
Yeah, UC those others that aren't obviously, Yeah, yeah, right
there you go. So those are some of the scores

Time for more reaction from today's game Cure Again, it
is your host, Andy Richoff.

Speaker 7 (01:17:37):
Nelian Jumper wingright, Carter and Hill twin stack Last, Northington
the running back, Joe Hanson the quarterback. Here's third down
and two and the Bison thirty seven snapter Joehanson format
push up front, he sets, he fires, flinging it down
the hashmark to the end zone, jumping ball and the
ball is intercepted.

Speaker 3 (01:17:59):
Interception there, Randy Sue on the defensive side, that was
Dariens Gibbins with the pick. A couple of interceptions today
for Randy issue as they win at fifty nine to
six over Murray State.

Speaker 5 (01:18:10):
They get the victory their eighth n row.

Speaker 3 (01:18:12):
You look on the defensive side, only that interception from
Darius Gibbons, that was a nice one. How about Enoxy Bumana.
We talked about the pick six he had today and
good to see this one. Jaquith Alexander interception today. A
couple of pass breakups too, and only he got a
little bit.

Speaker 5 (01:18:26):
More run out there.

Speaker 3 (01:18:27):
That's a player I thought I'd see a little bit
more of as the year has gone on. Was obviously
a kind of an instrumental player defensively for US last
year and a little bit lower on the depth chart.
Was good to see him have a day. You need
some depth at cornerback and Jake Keith with an interception.
Hopefully that builds up his confidence a little bit.

Speaker 4 (01:18:42):
Yeah, I think he's been a little banged up this
year too, but yeah, I helped. He's definitely he played
a lot for us last year. So and like you said,
just have depth of that position is huge. That is
a position where you can rotate guys in that a
little bit if you do have enough depth. So, but no,
good to see Jakes get his hands on a couple
of balls and get some interception, and yeah, he's a
he's a good player.

Speaker 1 (01:19:01):
He's uh, he's from he's from Florida, I believe, yes, Florida.

Speaker 3 (01:19:05):
Yeah, yep, so, and I think a really good talented
players haven't seen this much because Marcus Shepherd's played well,
you're bringing Anthony Shedemi Alfaro. He was also kind of
hurt earlier on as you alluded to. There good to
see as well. Najie Nelson played it in. One of
those young guys. I think he has a bright future.
Low lower on the depth TRUP. But that's a guy
you've played against. What do you what do you think
about nai Phil Hanson loves something?

Speaker 4 (01:19:24):
Oh yeah, nause When he came in last year, I
believe he was a walk on too, and he still
has a walk on. But just I mean, he was
a type of guy that I know. We were talking defensively,
are we gonna need to pull his red shirt? Just
because how you know, good of a corner he is.
And obviously this year he had a risk problem, so
he's kind of coming off that injury. But he's definitely
gonna be he'll be one of the DB's of the
future for NDSU.

Speaker 5 (01:19:45):
And they're one of those brothers.

Speaker 3 (01:19:48):
A lot of them on NDSU's team, and some that
aren't brothers a football player, it's just of other players
at NDSU in years gone by. You think of uh
Tyree Eedy, former BIS and men's basketball player talent Tailing
Eadie now on the team as well. You think about
Will Style NDSU third Basement or sorry Jack Style now
Will Style?

Speaker 1 (01:20:09):
Oh right here, No, that's his brother. Yeah, okay, I
put that together.

Speaker 5 (01:20:12):
Yeah now here as well.

Speaker 3 (01:20:13):
So some baseball and basketball connections with the football team
and just seems to be a family affair atsu athletics.
When you know about it a little bit, you definitely
want to join up more. So, family affair and some
brothers on this team that got some run, both of
them today Style a couple of tackles. Eady out there
with a tackle as well, almost had an interception, was
close to one of them today. I thought, so there
are some guys also I'm in that safety room. Have

(01:20:34):
to be ready, you know, next man up might be
a thing for them too, with the way some injuries
have hit that position. Hopefully doesn't come to that. Thankfully
it didn't today and NDSU gets a comfortable win fifty
nine to six over Murray State. Again, we are here

Speaker 2 (01:25:37):
Time for more reaction from today's game. You're a game
as you're hostess, Handy Rickoff downing.

Speaker 3 (01:25:42):
At jumper right Deeley and Justice Lap. Here's the stam
two Joe handsendate. He is going down. He is sacked
back at the twenty seven yard line. Yet tire Bison
D line got home.

Speaker 7 (01:25:55):
Eli Mos started, Cody Heisman in there as well, and
no force on a long veal goal for the Racers.

Speaker 3 (01:26:03):
It was that kind of day for Indy. Is you
the whole defensive line got there? Who got the sack?
That's up for the person doing the stats they're at
that game. That was early on. I was actually a
somewhat key play early on. The Racers kind of moved
the ball on their first possession and Yu gets the
sack there on third down, pushes them a little further
back than that field goal just a bit wide right.

(01:26:23):
And after that the Bizond score touchdown on the very
next play make at fourteen nothing. So the D line
come up with a big player there.

Speaker 4 (01:26:28):
And for any if there's any nerds out there listening,
the Cody Heisman Eli most start sack celebration. Yeah from
Dragon ball Z Okay, pretty gotta be a little nerdy.
I am a little nerdy to get I know your
dragon ball Z. I know your dragon ball Z. Stuff
about a good celebration. Cody and Eli like it. I
like the choreography. It was clean, wasn't too much collaps.

Speaker 1 (01:26:49):
For you guys.

Speaker 5 (01:26:49):
That was a Halloween costume idea.

Speaker 1 (01:26:51):
Oh I could be. I'm sure the guys when I
saw it was one o'clock. Kick I'm talking to Will
and Eli.

Speaker 4 (01:26:57):
This is probably on Wednesday, Like, oh yeah, everyone's pumped
up so we can get back to put our Halloween
costumes on and go out.

Speaker 1 (01:27:01):
Oh my god.

Speaker 4 (01:27:02):
Perfect, Yes, that's what we're focusing on. You heard Mark
for America talking about the Bie week. Now we're already
heard about Halloween costumes. Luckily they went out and played
well today.

Speaker 3 (01:27:09):
So hey, hey, gat b I've had them right back
in the meeting. They got the planet immediately into some medians.
We're here at the Alive at Applebee's. Football season is
back and in full swing right now. When it comes
to the best food for football season, it's Applebee's. It
wouldn't be game day without their boneless wings. Voted America's
favorite boneless Wings. Applebee's is the official bar of the NFL.

(01:27:31):
When it's football, it's Applebee's and we are here for
you on bides and hotline. After every Bison game this season,
home and away, right here at Applebee's north of the
far Go Dome, we will be drying for those tickets
to NDSU. You and I here in just a couple
of minutes before we get to that. Any final thoughts
from this victory. The Bison win it in dominant fashion,
kind of the way we thought it was going to go.

(01:27:52):
Now you get to return home for the Panthers.

Speaker 1 (01:27:54):
Yeah, just a good win. Took care of business. Yeah,
I mean, there's not a whole lot to me.

Speaker 4 (01:28:00):
Obviously we'll go back to the coaches will break down
the film with this game, But I don't know how
much you can take from this game. Just Murray State's
building a program, so I mean trying to build. They
have a lot of work to do. But good one
for the guys. Obviously, big one next week. Everyone needs
to stay safe tonight. I know it was always an
interesting we all because there's always a football game around Halloween,
and Coach Kramer would always have some some one liners

(01:28:22):
about just the Hallow weekend and all stuff like that,
So make sure everyone stays safe tonight, don't do anything
jeopardize your spot on the team, and then get back
to work on Monday and get ready for a game
against the Panthers at the Dome.

Speaker 5 (01:28:34):
And today with definitely had a trick.

Speaker 1 (01:28:35):
It was a treat.

Speaker 5 (01:28:36):
It was treats over the weekend.

Speaker 3 (01:28:37):
I being bad with just get through this thing, get
there next week, and then got the bye week as well.
We'll say Northern I, what twenty eight points right now?
They're twenty eight, twenty eight at home against Missouri State.
I know it's Missouri State, but Missouri State's better this year.
That's not gonna be just a cake walk. That this
team is going to come in with some pride and
I'm gonna fight because that season is basically on.

Speaker 5 (01:28:55):
The line for them from here right now.

Speaker 1 (01:28:56):
And we're not watching this game currently, we're just kind
of looking at the ESPN. But this is buying a fire.

Speaker 4 (01:29:00):
Got to be the best game that Northern I was
playing out obviously having in Valley play for sure. Yeah,
this is so maybe I don't know, they had a
come to Jesus moment with coach Farley in the locker
room before the game and now they're playing good football.

Speaker 3 (01:29:12):
So put up or shut up time a little bit there,
and then right now at the half, Youngstown State is
up twenty one to twenty at home against un d
so a high scoring first half. Fourteen points in that
second quarter for Youngstown State, thirteen for the Fighting Hawks,
and the Penguins with they one point lead twenty one
to twenty right now in the halftime, locker.

Speaker 4 (01:29:31):
Rooms shut out the Youngstown State helmets. Those are some
day helmets, good helmets. I will absolutely agree with you
on that one.

Speaker 3 (01:29:37):
So at the ice Castle, we'll see what happens there
ice Castle after dark, when the sun gets down, some
weird things that happen. It's a weird place in Youngstown, Ohio.
Monsters come out there. You're close to Halloween. Could be
a funky one there in the second half.

Speaker 4 (01:29:50):
I also saw their head coaches wearing a sweatshirt with
has the outline of the state of Ohio on the
back and it says f E another nerd thing, periodic
table develpments f E iron big iron like steel milltown.

Speaker 5 (01:30:02):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:30:03):
I thought that was pretty cool too. From the young song.

Speaker 3 (01:30:05):
Actually, I don't mind that night there yeah, an iron
sharpens iron.

Speaker 4 (01:30:08):
Exact and I was like fee like, I'm like, oh,
I have one of my high school teachers over here.
I'm like, I remember that from high school. I remembered something.

Speaker 3 (01:30:17):
Jake was listening when I was listening. We'll see if
you can listen right now and reach into that prize
box and pull out a winner for us.

Speaker 20 (01:30:24):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (01:30:24):
We gave people all the time you could to sign
up tickets to NDSU, you and I to see the
Bison versus the Northern Iowa Panthers next Saturday, two thirty
inside the Fogod Dome.

Speaker 5 (01:30:35):
Our lucky winner today is.

Speaker 1 (01:30:37):

Speaker 5 (01:30:42):

(01:31:25):
Hotline with us tonight here at Applebee's, and of course
the entire Game Day crew out there in Murray, Kentucky
as the Bison beat the Racers. Of course, the Voice
of the Bison, Sam Niederman, got the Hall of Famer
Phil Hanson. And on the sidelines nowhere Gendorf, who was
just sitting into his role perfectly right now, completely feels
comfortable right now. Some great questions today. Well done by Noah,

(01:31:46):
I think, other than getting lost in the stadium apparently
during postgame in the stairwell there.

Speaker 4 (01:31:51):
Well, that's an offensive guy for you. They're just like
Phil and I a the defensive ends kind of got
the brains tight ends. They're just kind of big meat
shields out you get to a locked door. You guys
just ran through thing.

Speaker 3 (01:32:00):
Now they don't really know what they're doing at that
point but he's been phenomenal on the sideline, Jake Beck
told the great engineer doing all things there throughout the
broadcast today making them sound good. I heard, uh, Sam
even might have punched them today or elbowed them accidentally
on the touchdown by Bryce Lance the first one there,
we got Chris.

Speaker 4 (01:32:16):
Hansen with a bluddy Now our conflicted wounds a little bit.

Speaker 1 (01:32:20):
It just is so it's well that James. Everyone's getting hurt.

Speaker 5 (01:32:24):
I know, well done, Jake.

Speaker 3 (01:32:25):
We got to watch up for the broadcast crew and
Roman Porterfield as well the producer in studio or the
engineer in studio for us all day long. And Jake,
well done once again. Here you're like a veteran, you're
kind of getting used to this. I think we'll have
you set all the gear up to.

Speaker 4 (01:32:39):
Next week that that's gonna be. That's phase three after
three years. Then I can learn to do that.

Speaker 5 (01:32:45):
Then then we'll allow you to do that. It's the
red Shirt year right now we're going to the base.

Speaker 1 (01:32:49):
I'm an understudy, but.

Speaker 3 (01:32:50):

on the Panthers here inside the Fargo Dum two thirty
