and the Bison. We're in the end zone one more
time today than the Jackrabbits. Happened to be Andy Rick
up with you, Jake Cava with me as well, Chris
Hansen with me. We'll get to his thoughts in a
little bit because I said pregame that I was very
much looking forward to what Chris had to say. That's
really all the reason I wanted to win. We'll get
(08:26):
his thoughts in just a bit, but I gotta go
to the former player first, the guy that's played in
these games. You had those little butterflies before the game today,
Jake as well. This moment being able to watch it
live and see your brothers capitalize to get themselves back
to Frisco. How special was it? Yeah?
Speaker 21 (08:41):
That was awesome, especially to do it against our little
brother once again, South Dakota State. Just so happy for
those guys, for Cambeller to come out his last game
in the Fargo Dome, Bryce Lance just doing Bryce Lance things.
Just an unbelievable effort from the guys. And hats off
to southa Coost State. They're a great team, they're a
good program. But you know, like you said, we were
better today and that's all that mattered.
Speaker 1 (09:00):
Chris Hansen, your thoughts after NDSU beats SDSU and sends
them back to Brookies.
Speaker 22 (09:05):
You know, I keep waiting for it to get old,
and it just doesn't. It just doesn't the feeling of
doing of accomplishing something right to watch this team grow
throughout the year. To watch Bryce Lance the very first
first games of the season, it's like we gotta work
on not just saying oh Trey or Trey's little brother.
Today Bryce, I mean five catches buck twenty nine to
(09:27):
three touchdowns. I mean that stat line is ridiculous. The
crowd definitely showed up today, plenty of Bunnies fans in there.
That was good to send them back to Brookings. I
hope they enjoy getting a summit when the one snowplow
is nowhere to be found with a rough ride home.
But NDSU in first year of coach Paulosek, it's just
(09:49):
it's fun. It's just fun, it's memories, it's fun. And
just very proud of NDSU today for coming through.
Speaker 1 (09:55):
I would say the same thing Sam Niederman is at
the end of the broadcast today the sheriff is back
in town. Order has been restored to the FCS. A
nice run for STSD. They won two championships. As Jake said,
very good program. They're not going anywhere. They will be
back and right there on the way once again come
next season. But two year run, they say, you got
to win three in a row to get to a
(10:15):
dynasty squash the dynasty talk and their run. You keep
Easton Stick tied for the most quarterback wins in FCS history.
You don't let them get that victory on your home
turf for Gronowski, and you get yourself right back towards
the top of the mountain. One more game to go
to claim another title.
Speaker 22 (10:31):
And I know, obviously Bryce Lance and the touchdown catch,
which I don't know. I'll go to bed tonight wondering
if that truly was a catch When you stop it
and his foot's on the ground and the ball is
in his hand, looks pretty good. It looks really good there.
Speaker 1 (10:44):
I don't know what you're talking about.
Speaker 22 (10:45):
Because fingersnapped before that and after that, I don't know.
I was shocked that they reversed it because they really
had no I was very much. I was very shocked. Now,
Andyushu was one on the seven or ten yard line
and it was going to be third down, I believe,
so there was still a chance they were going to
be able to take the lead there. But I was
very shocked that they did that. But for me, the
play of the game was the only turnover of the
(11:06):
day that to me was the play of the game.
NDSU was up fourteen to seven. NDISU had just had
to punt again and SDSU they go down and score.
There it's twenty one seven heading into halftime. So that fumble,
that pick up by the Bison when they're running back fumbled,
that was to me the real changer because after that's
fourteen fourteen and a half time and it stayed that
(11:28):
way until the start of the fourth quarter. That to me,
that defensive play, that's the one that really flipped things
on the other direction.
Speaker 21 (11:35):
Yeah, I think it was you know, Cody Heisman, who
will talk about his game he played later, but he
was an animal out there, but breaks through an old
g play, gets a hand on the football and then
the shaker Oaks kind of have the wherewithal to pick
that one up. But like you said, I mean third quarter,
we're back to the I was thinking about the.
Speaker 23 (11:48):
Game from earlier this year was punt All right, it's
a punt show.
Speaker 22 (11:53):
But no, they were winning the field position all of
the third quarter, but nobody could capitalize. The ball kept
going further away from zone and closer to theirs. They
were doing exactly what they had to do with those
punts back and forth, but in the end NDSU was
able to make a if not one, two more plays
and what happened today.
Speaker 1 (12:11):
They've got one more game to claim a crown. It
will be either against Montana State or South Dakota YO.
South Dakota just with the touchdown and extra point away
from tying things up fourteen fourteen, a little bit of
time left and quarter number two. We'll dive into that
game and who we want to face and what the
matchups could look like a little bit later on. But
we know there is plenty of things to talk about
(12:33):
from this win for NDSU over the Jack Rebits, and
I know many of you want to get in as well.

all know the sheriff is back in town. Baby for
the eleventh time and NDSU history. The Bison are going
(18:18):
to the FCS National Championship Game.
Speaker 1 (18:23):
Yes, they are. They're going back to Frisco. NDSU gets
the win twenty eight twenty one. Back here with you

NDYSU men's basketball. Andy Rickoff, Chris Hansen, Jacavey here with them.
We got some full calls to get to in just
a second, and we will get to those, I promise you.
But how about that final play on defense? Some guys
(19:06):
you have played with those defensive lines. We'll talk about
Cody Heisman in a little bit, but Jackson Duton have
for a guy that maybe goes unrecognized most of the year,
but does a really really good job. He gets through.
They get a number of guys to the quarterback. Take
us through how they architect did that that pressure at
the end to get to grenow Ski.
Speaker 21 (19:22):
Yeah, you know, sometimes it's tough because you're as a
defensive lineman, right, you want the sacks, want the big plays.
Obviously Cody Heusman got the fumble earlier, but you just
gotta stay in the hunt. And I know that was
the first only sack we had of the game. But
for those guys just to you know, stay aggressive, staying
like your your number is gonna get called, you're gonna
get cut loose, Just keep at it, keep at it.
And it was a little stunt game that coach gays
are called. We practiced all the time. They ran into perfection. Actually,
(19:43):
Jackson duton't have to really. The players kind of set
up for the Shaka ropes to kind of wrap around
and make the sack. But dudey just did a great
job getting his pick, staying in it, staying thick through
and then getting to the quarterback. And that's that's a
defensive lineman's dream. You know, you got fourth and XL
game on the line, season on the line, like you
need one stop to get a sack and end this thing.
Speaker 23 (20:00):
I did it, and that's.
Speaker 1 (20:00):
Just super excited for those guys if it's as long
as to talk to each other before the play, say hey,
we're gonna meet at the quarterback.
Speaker 22 (20:05):
Yeah. And what I love too is that you have
guys who are quote unquote taking themselves out of the play,
that they are making a play for somebody else, all right,
like they are they're pulling or they're moving the offensive
lineman a certain direction that they want them to go.
Offensive linemen are coming with them, and uh, it.
Speaker 6 (20:22):
Was just great.
Speaker 22 (20:23):
You could see it like the Red Seas parting and
Gronowski didn't have a time he I mean, he barely
could get the ball into his hands and Indiac was
on him like that. That's just the great selfish defense
and the team playing together as a unit.
Speaker 1 (20:33):
Yeah, really unselfish play there by NDYSU great. I thought
dial up at that point as well, in Brandt Alston
thinking Fourtland seventeen. Maybe you gotta bring a blitz. You'll
get some you bring some extra guys that hope we're
gonna just go with our four proble, We're gonna do
something a little different, a little game up front to
confuse him. And it definitely worked to confuse that offensive
line for SDSU and really allow two defensive linemen to
get right in there on Gronowski and he had no chance.
(20:54):
Fourth and seventeen. You need some time for it to develop,
and he had no time at all to let anything develop.
First guy in here before the phone calls, called him
before the show even got going, the icon in Fargo
giving us a call icon. You're here with us on
Bison Hotline. How you feeling well, I'll tell you what.
Speaker 25 (21:09):
I cannot wait for.
Speaker 8 (21:12):
The icon to returned out to Frisco.
Speaker 25 (21:13):
It's going to be great. So hey, anyway, a couple
of questions for you, and I'm going to give you
a new piece called inn Icon is a first off
the play before the end of the first half, they
take a timeout with three seconds left and then taking eave.
You think they were trying to catch us off on
off guard on something. That's question one. Question two.
Speaker 26 (21:33):
As you know today there weren't very many penalties called.
Do you think it's because they let us play? Or
is it because both teams had cleaned that up? And
the Bison is in the names South DaCosta State has
a great football program. But then again, how many records did.
Speaker 25 (21:57):
France not Trossel last year.
Speaker 26 (21:58):
All of you guys hold it over, think good.
Speaker 1 (22:03):
Thank you, I con thank you, thank you, I con
there you go back here with you Buyson Hotline live
at Applebee's. First of us go on the penalty side.
It was a really clean play game. There weren't many
penalties nobody. I think NDSU had two penalties for ten
yards at halftime. SDS you had done through it, believe
the first three quarters, maybe one in that third quarter.
Then they started to mount a little bit in the
fourth at that late hit. Yeahs of play. Huge play
(22:25):
on the sidelines there. Cam steps out just barely but
got hit by his old high school teammate and Adam
Bock actually old high school teamate knocks them laid out
of bounds to get a free fifteen, moved that ball
further down. Was a huge play in the game.
Speaker 22 (22:36):
So it's a twenty five yard run out to the
fifty that then moved it down to the thirty five
with that late hit. And you know, I got to
ask you, Jake, you know in that situation, you've got
to get the quarterback down. But I know it's bang bang,
it's real tight. It's on the sidelines, which is tight
to believe, but boy, in that spot there there is
just that's the worst possible time to do that.
Speaker 21 (22:55):
Yeah, I mean as a defensive player, I kind of
have my opinions on you know, how much they protect
the quarterbacks. Obviously it worked out in our favor, but no,
like you said, it's it's hard because you're running full speed.
I do think Cam you could definitely tell he was
kind of idling down and getting ready to go. So
and obviously, you know him and Adam Bach have known
each other since they were toddlers, so maybe Adam was
trying to get a little little payback for something that
(23:16):
happened maybe in seventh grade. But uh, yeah, it's tough.
And then yeah, like the penalty was big. And then
the penalty on Cody Heisman on the last drive of
the game. Cody has a great spin move there, right
guard just reaches out, grabs his.
Speaker 23 (23:26):
Face mask that put them behind the chains and kind
of ended ended.
Speaker 1 (23:29):
They're so far huge penalty, yep, massive one right there.
Speaker 22 (23:32):
Well, and you know what I guess the saying is,
you can't call a bad penalty if you don't call
any penalties at all. Yeah, and so I guess that.
I would say there was a lot of letting him
play that that can Miller late hit was maybe one
of the un latest hits that we saw during the
game along the sideline and so you know, it's a
bad time for it. NDUSU obviously been a fit from it,
but in that situation you have to be so cognizant
(23:54):
of what's going on. His foot was out of bounds.
Speaker 1 (23:56):
Yep. Absolutely, I do think what the icon was talking about.
I do think the rest let them play and I
like that. Like there was some pushing and shoving after place,
after some punts and stuff too, but it didn't go
to anything at that egregious by either side. A lot
of teammates are pulling guys off and pushing them away,
like hey, we don't need a penalty right here and not.
The repst did a good job of like wait for it,
wait for it, see if anything bad happens, and then
we'll throw one. They only called the ones that were egregious.
(24:18):
I mean, a face mask you have to call it
like you just you see it. It has to be
be a flag right there. A couple on indias you
like lining up off sides, you have to call those ones.
I thought the rest did a good job. There was
no be patient today.
Speaker 22 (24:28):
Although the first half there was definitely two Jack linemen
that were moving or the INDIASU was not moving in
two Jack defensive linemen, we're definitely in the neutral zone.
That one they absolutely on. The fourth and one, yeah,
that one absolutely botched.
Speaker 1 (24:41):
But I do think there was just two well coached teams,
two disciplined teams, and along with a referee crew that
came in saying, we're gonna let the teams decide this thing.
If it's egregious, we call it, but we're gonna let
these guys decide you want exactly, you know. And I
don't think there was a single pass interference. There's going
on all of them, but they let those ones go,
and I'm a completely okay with that one. I think
it was called the right way. I said that no
(25:02):
matter what way it went down, because I think it
was a really well called game by the Stripes. And
then for DYSU, you know, offensively, there's some questions there
coming into this game. How could they score on this
Jack Rebits defense that have been so good only around
allowing somewhere around twelve points per game. Here over the
last couple of months. They scored went down, scored on
the very first drive, and I think that was an
early statement, like we can score on this team. We
(25:24):
know how we're going to score on them. Cam Miller's
gonna have to throw quite a bit he did. Bryce
Lance was massive in this game. Haven't even touched on
Bryce Lance a whole lot yet to this point. But
the offense, I thought, for the most part, Yeah, they
had some puns and some three and ounces where they
moved the ball pretty effectively.
Speaker 21 (25:37):
Yeah, like you said, they were effective when they needed
When we needed a big play, a big play happened,
whether that be cam Miller with his legs on the ground,
Bryce Lance with a big catch. You know, it was
just it was always like we had the play when
we needed it. And like obviously we'll talk about Bryce
with potentially one of the greatest.
Speaker 23 (25:52):
Catches in Fargo Dome history. I think we can say
it now.
Speaker 21 (25:54):
Yeah, but you know, big time players stepped up in
a big time game and made plays.
Speaker 1 (25:58):
We got Mark in America, who's given us a call
on the hot line here again? Seven zero one four
seven six sixteen sixty. That is the number to call
to be a part of the program here as NDYSU
gets to win over South Dakota State, Mark, what do
you want to talk about?
Speaker 8 (26:14):
Well, first off, Jake and Chris, your first strengths down
and Frisco are on me.
Speaker 22 (26:19):
Let's go, let's go.
Speaker 1 (26:21):
Okay, Well, thanks a lot.
Speaker 22 (26:24):
Well, Andy's the official working one. Jake and I are
just kind of along for the ride.
Speaker 8 (26:28):
Andy, you already got your bottle of whiskey in September.
That's fair, Okay, guys, everything is right in the world. Basically,
this is the end. This is the the end of
the last two minutes of returning the Jedi. That's the
way I look at it. You know, the Usurpers have
(26:50):
been vanquished from from the castle, and you know they
got lucky for a couple of years and that's all that.
And they can live on that because they won't ever
sniff it again. And as far as I look at it,
the I love the fact that cam Miller on national television,
(27:13):
on national broadcast television, finally got to say what he's
been wanting to say for five years, that he says,
I absolutely hate them.
Speaker 1 (27:24):
We loved it too, Baking, Mark, thanks for the call
here on Bison hotline appreciate that one, and THESU gets
to win twenty eight to twenty one. And those that
haven't seen it yet, maybe he's somebody have them because
he wants people here. Probably didn't watch the TV copy,
they're probably at the game. Yeah. At the post game
there on ABC, cam Miller said, I can finally say it.
There's no more games against there's more bulletin material. I
(27:45):
hate them. I hate the jack I.
Speaker 22 (27:46):
Hate the jack Rabbits. That is uh. He is just
such a good competitor. It's so weird to think that
today would have been Trey Lance's last game in the
Fargo Down No.
Speaker 12 (27:56):
No.
Speaker 22 (27:56):
Last year was last year, He's last year a six
year pote. Hypothetically, he cam Miller gets this opportunity and
he does something that is I mean, it speaks to
who he is and like you know, you know, his
parents and his dad's coach, gritty people, just you know,
come out, get the job done. And it sometimes doesn't
look pretty, and sometimes there'll be a couple of interceptions,
(28:19):
but when he needed to do it, and I think
especially in that fourth quarter that I think coach Landry
was holding back in some of those passing plays. That
I think he's like, when we need these, they think
we're gonna be bang and bang and banging, we're going
to go over the top. And that's exactly what they
did in the fourth quarter.
Speaker 21 (28:33):
Yeah, and that's like one thing you know, coach Hedberg
coach NS when he was head coach, just Cam just
be you. And obviously you come to NBSU and just
the tradition of quarterbacks we've had through you know, Steve Walker,
then you'll a couple of Brock Jensen, Carson Wentz, Easton Sick,
Trey Lance, and there's a lot of pressure that comes
with that from a kid from Soul in Iowa. That
kind of came on as a is this guy getting
really play? We thought we were gonna have Trey Long
(28:53):
or Covid the the duh. But Cam just be you?
And I think you know we've seen now Cam be
and him a pretty freaking good quarterback. Hell yeah, and
uh yeah, I'm just happy for him and he gets
to go, you know, end his career down in Frisco
as you should.
Speaker 8 (29:05):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (29:06):
If you thought you couldn't like Cam Miller anymore. And
he says on national television, I hate the Jacks and
I think everybody just like arms around him even that
much more. He's definitely our quarterback. And this is a
point with the season in the semi final that where
you know, buy some players right their legacies a little bit.
And he hasn't had a lot of success success against
STS two, had not beaten them before this year. Now
he's got two wins against them, got him in a
(29:27):
semi final, ended there two a year you'll run his
champions as well, and a chance to go. Really, I
think Cementus legacy is one of the top quarterbacks in
NBSU history. Down in Frisco, that's good. Gonna be an
awesome opportunity there for cam Millie. He finishes thirteen of
nineteen one seventy nine and three touchdowns. Most importantly though,
zero interception, number three picks the last two weeks, didn't
(29:48):
have one today. Back to the cam Miler. We expected
sixty eight percent completion percentage against this defense. That's a
really really good number. Not his season average in terms
of completion percentage, but a very good number there from
Cam and he found his target there in bright slants
consistently all day long. So well done by cam Miller
again on the big stage.
Speaker 22 (30:05):
And I think that we can talk about Cam Miller
now in those same breaths. So I think of obviously
cam Miller loses the Marker game earlier, the questions are
even louder because this game might have been in Brooking.
So it was awesome that Inducy was able to pay
it off of that hard work during the regular season,
to have this game in Fargo and not be somewhere else,
(30:26):
and then for Cam to just go out make the
plays when he had to gott it's just such a
gritty dude. Yeah, Like it reminds me more of Brock
Jensen than anybody else, right, Like, not all of the
talent that you would see as far as skill wise,
but boy, when you needed to have it, he made
those plays, including today with the big runs and the
great throws and what a weapon in Bryce Lance.
Speaker 1 (30:46):
Yeah, absolutely, there's so much talking about. We've got him
much more to talk about as well. One more phone
cup before we go to breaks, and know the phone
lines are definitely on fire right now. How about Tony
and Greenville giving us a call? Oh sorry, Tony, we
just lost you as my bad. We'll get you back
on here in just a little bit. We'll call back
in Tony. When you call back in, you'll be first
in line. Let's go with Milt in Atlanta giving us
(31:08):
a call on Bison Hotline. Milt from Atlanta. Here, you're
here with us on Bison Hotline. What do you want
to talk about? Milt?
Speaker 27 (31:14):
Hey, I'm from Bargo, but I live in three cities.
But I just I was just gonna say Tim was
pretty emotional at the end, the coach, and I think
what's happened here today was everybody bought in the O line,
D line, secondary offense, great play calling, and Cam was
the professor and Bryce was the big show like the wrestler.
(31:38):
And I after I looked at this game and I
saw Maxwell Woods, who we were going to have because
my daughter is a chiropractor in chan Hassan and he
was going to be coming to the Bison, and I
thought to myself, Wow, I wonder what you were thinking
after you saw this game. And you know, I'll hang
(32:01):
up and listen, but you know that was my two things.
Speaker 1 (32:04):
Yeah, thank you, And that's a very good point. I
thought about that throughout the game as well, Milt, that
you got Max Woods, who's a running back and a
returner for SDS. He as a freshman, he was committed
to NDSU. Matt Ens decides to do what he does
going to USC and now he's out over Forresno State
and Maxwell Woods did decommit and now he's a jack
grab it and I don't know how he's feeling without
the decision, right, Yeah, Yeah, have fun at.
Speaker 23 (32:25):
Taco Johns and Max.
Speaker 22 (32:27):
We don't need you pre eminent dining destination.
Speaker 1 (32:32):
Johns. I really did not. I would have lost a
lot of money on the first Taco Johns mentioned coming
from jet today. Yeah, he knows that.
Speaker 22 (32:38):
I like a good dude like that. Those battles are
back and forth obviously with recruiting, and something that you
just don't see is NDSU or North Dkota recruits going
to South Dakota State. I think this year they did
sign a player out of North Dakota. Right, So that's
the first one. Maybe that's something that is changing, is
coming into you know, enemy teary tory, if you would.
(33:01):
But the thing that always surprises me about not so
much to commits, like you're gonna go where you feel comfortable.
But I'm just really surprised that more of the Missouri
Valley doesn't coach NDSU coaches. I've never understood that. I'll
never understand that of why these opportunities don't show up
for NDSU coaches at any level, defensive coordinator, like anybody
(33:23):
that they're not given a chance to know the Missouri
Valley School. The coaches is one thing, but you know,
the coordinators are the ones that really truly make the position.
Speaker 1 (33:30):
Coaches becoming coordinators somewhere else.
Speaker 21 (33:31):
Yeah, yeah, I think you kind of look at you know,
Danny feynd up at und obviously he was the OC
up there takes a different job.
Speaker 23 (33:37):
I think he is.
Speaker 21 (33:37):
He the co oc Yeah, don't player, so we took
a step down to go to South kost State and
I don't when they I don't. He did not apply
for the un football coach and I think that speaks
a lot to you know what NDSU and STSU, just
to support their programs get from administration.
Speaker 23 (33:55):
I don't think that's set us call around the Valley.
Speaker 21 (33:57):
So I think that's where you see a lot of
coaches that would rather stay at the xdsu's and then
wait for maybe to go to the FBS like that,
rather than you know, go to Carbondale or one of
the schools that's not supporting their football team.
Speaker 22 (34:10):
As much like GEO going to Indiana State for a
short period of time, They're like, what do they have
to lose to just make him the head coach? Who cares?
We are so putrid? Why not take a slice of
what NDIASU has done and put them in charge let
them run with it. That's what I don't get is
not even the coordinators, but anybody, like why they wouldn't
want to just throw the money at the risk. I'm
(34:30):
glad they know, but I think it's been proven they're
just not going to do it.
Speaker 1 (34:35):
No. Yeah, so that's I guess we'll just keep to
compensate as well. And NDS is a good place to be,
and I think it's a stepping stone. I mean, they
get a lot of assistant coaches. One place they have
gone as they've gone with that head coach to a
Kansas State. I'm not saying it's gonna happen. I want
that to happen, right, but that you know, you stick
around and then maybe you're going to wherever that next
spot is. For the guy who's the head coach in three,
(34:55):
four or five years or something like that. So who else.
But I'm happy we're keeping them at the least keep
keep ignoring him, keeping up, you know, poaching them from NDSU.
I'm all for that. Before we take a break, how
about Tony just called back in, Tony Greenville here with
us on on Bison Hotline. Thanks for coming back on
and calling back in, Tony. What do you want to
talk about?
Speaker 25 (35:13):
You made my whole take make.
Speaker 8 (35:17):
All on what a bike and week?
Speaker 22 (35:21):
We made the whole Christmas The Bison had been doing
that for a deck, Like for the last decade. Every
kid has been happy because they get to celebrate Christmas
with NDSU right in the National Championship Game. If you
are under the age of fifteen years of age, you
don't know anything out of that, Like you have a
driver's license and you don't know anything other than NBSU
going to Frisco. That's all you know.
Speaker 23 (35:42):
Yeah, that's a good point, that's all you know.
Speaker 22 (35:44):
So, Uh, it is fun. I always love it. We
brought our kids, We've been we have season tickets since
two thousand and nine, and it's been a bringing our
kids to games and experiencing it and uh, it's just
it's just so much fun and it's so much memories.
I love looking at Facebook and the timeline memories and
seeing like, oh we're at that game. Remember we did
this and you know against this game and that game.
(36:05):
It's so much fun. And you can't in the season
where you're buying all these gifts, like the best thing
you can give is experiences, right, So Indue had.
Speaker 28 (36:13):
A health experience for a lot of kids that I
get emotional because it the effects eight it does because
it's so emotional. I love that a team, this is
all we have, right, we don't have well we have
kind of a professional football team in Minnesota, but this
is all we have here like in the.
Speaker 1 (36:29):
Univer professional team.
Speaker 22 (36:30):
Absolutely it's supported and it's fun to see that and
it's fun to see little kids get their experience.
Speaker 1 (36:35):
This is why last week we said go get your
tickets and get it's an early Christmas person for somebody,
because that miss out on that iphony you get someone,
or the sweatshirt or whatever, that's going to fade. The
phone's going to die, the game is going to be
out of style, all of those type of things are
going to end at some point. Yeah, this experience, you're
not gonna forget it. If you were at that game today,
(36:55):
you saw Bryce Stance go up and pull that ball
from the heavens and come down with it as a
touch down. No matter what Chris thinks might InVID or
might not have happened, you are going to remember that
one forever. And if you're there with your dad or
your mom or whatever, you're going to remember that experience.
This is why ANDSU football, college football in general, and
sports in general as well. Do that. You can do that.
They're special one hundred percent right there with you and
(37:17):
enjoy the emotion from you as well. There, Chris, we'll
take a break, We'll catch our breath, We'll come back.

Time for more reaction from today's game cure again as
your host, Andy Rickoff Sothakota.
Speaker 1 (42:13):
Stata Sport on back to back long.
Speaker 18 (42:15):
Touchdowns, Dryers, You're second and seven to own twenty six
and Off Johnson lost the ball, Bomas Less and the
Bison got it.
Speaker 19 (42:21):
Game changing play blow Shaker Road steps on a loose
ball and there's the first takeaway. It belongs to the Bison,
belong to the Beison. Indeed, a huge play right there,
maybe the play of the game quite honestly, because turnovers
always play a massive role in this rivalry between the
(42:43):
Bison and the Jacks. And andyus who got the only
turnover back in October, they get the only turnover today
as well. With that fumble forced by Cody Heinzman recovered
by the Shaka ropes up against the sideline after Endius
who had to punt back to the Jacks as well,
they had the momentum massive play right there to steal
the mental back and go back and tie it up afterwards.
Speaker 22 (43:02):
Yeah, they're they had just scored, right, so the NBSU
had punted after a short drive, and you know STSU
goes down the field, which you have every belief that
they're going to do with plenty of time. If it's
twenty one to seven at half, is a much different ballgame.
That was the biggest who is gonna blink? Who is
gonna make the first mistake?
Speaker 8 (43:20):
Right?
Speaker 22 (43:20):
And if you're on defense, as you have been jaking
many a games, you're trying to make just one of
those plays, just one. You don't need a bunch of them,
You just need one.
Speaker 21 (43:28):
Yeah, especially in a game like that when it's you
know it's gonna come down to one play here, one
play there, you just weed that one splash play. And
like you said, it was fourteen to seven, South Coast
h it's getting the ball back, like Mark's starting to
kind of maybe get in a rhythm, and then, like
you said, Cody Heisman bust to the line, kind of
gets a hand on the ball. Wasn't a huge hit,
but good placement with his you know punch, and then
the shacka Roque falls on it probably the play of
(43:48):
the game. I mean, Bryce Lance's touchdowns.
Speaker 22 (43:51):
Was obviously, but you don't get there unless that play happens.
Speaker 23 (43:53):
Absolutely, and then obviously to score there stop them.
Speaker 21 (43:57):
I thought they're gonna maybe and this is probably the
second icon question that we didn't get to when they
took the knee. I heard there was something wrong with
Mark's arm that Rogers said in the post game that
they weren't sure he'd get it to the end zone.
So that's why they called the time out, thought about
throwing it, and.
Speaker 1 (44:11):
Then we call the time.
Speaker 21 (44:12):
We caught time out, and then we just take knee
and ended out. But so I think there was something wrong.
Maybe they were worried about his arm, not be able
to get to the end zone. Whatever, But no, it
was a big time play by.
Speaker 1 (44:22):
Has been like forty something yards end zone.
Speaker 23 (44:25):
I think it was a sixty yard Still, I should
be able to throw out that far.
Speaker 22 (44:30):
Jimmy, what are you doing? What are you doing here?
Speaker 1 (44:33):
Yeah? What do you mean when this is the semi final,
this is your seasons on the line. I go for
it with that, but hey, they didn't end THESU. Now
it's gonna be a hail Mary nothing comes to the
play anyways, more than likely, but you gotta take a chance, though.
I thought Dysu though gets to win twenty one to
twenty eight over South Dakota State. Before we go back
to the phone lines here, I know I got a
couple of people calling in. I wanted to get to
(44:54):
what Tim Poulasek said after the game. He was talking
with no againdor If the sideline reporter after this game
very emotional. I want to play that for everybody here
as well. I will go ahead right here as Noah
Gendorf after the win with the head coach, Tim Poulisa.
Speaker 33 (45:09):
Coach, unbelievable emotional game. Defense comes up huge there at
the end of cear the win for the Buyson.
Speaker 34 (45:16):
Yeah, it was a team win, but that performance the
defense had in the second half there was up there.
Speaker 23 (45:21):
Obviously, we gotta watch the tape, but like screw all that,
they were playing hard.
Speaker 22 (45:25):
We finally forced butt a holding call or face master there.
Speaker 23 (45:28):
That was big.
Speaker 34 (45:29):
You know, we had been playing hard the whole day
and I thought we'd get one of those calls.
Speaker 33 (45:33):
Bryce and Cam to get other today had an unbelievable connection.
Brice makes one of the greatest catches in Bison history
ended up being the difference.
Speaker 23 (45:40):
I think it's the greatest catch.
Speaker 34 (45:41):
I think it's better than Zach Fross catch over the
top of Western Illinois.
Speaker 22 (45:46):
That catch right there was one handed that's gonna make.
Speaker 35 (45:48):
The top ten list today.
Speaker 34 (45:50):
I told everybody this was gonna be an unbelievable football game.
Speaker 22 (45:53):
It would be one of the best games played in
the next month.
Speaker 23 (45:56):
And I think we got that today.
Speaker 33 (45:58):
Your first time getting the gator in shower here in Alabama,
play over the speakers and the dopet's gotta feel pretty good.
Speaker 34 (46:06):
Yeah, I can't wait to get home with my family.
I'm so long Gray Fall and Hoorn to be this program.
It's head coach. But you know, these guys chose to
stay together. It would have been easy to leave. We
run an outstanding program here and it's not about me.
It's about Bison Nation, the community and the team.
Speaker 1 (46:23):
Thanks coach, Thank you. How about that the emotion you
can hear it, the emotion that I mean, that's the
leader of the herd, the guy you want leading your
program right now. Just a lot of emotion at the end,
but a lot of passion throughout the entire thing. I
loved every minute of it.
Speaker 23 (46:37):
I'm getting choked up.
Speaker 22 (46:38):
Here right like it's it's real. And that's one of
the reasons why he was hired.
Speaker 1 (46:43):
Yeah, right, like.
Speaker 22 (46:44):
That emotion, that passion, because that bleeds through the previous.
Speaker 1 (46:48):
Hit him jump on the sidelines after got that fourth down.
Speaker 22 (46:50):
Stop dude, he was inside the numbers right before they
said they were gonna review. He was inside the numbers
running out celebrating like he knew it was a catch.
He saw it. And it's like that emotion, right, Like,
that's on your resume. You can't put that on a resume.
Speaker 1 (47:06):
Where are you saying of a child a little bit?
Speaker 22 (47:08):
Yeah, where you've been, what you've done as a coach
or anybody in life, you can see, but the passion
you don't see until you're looking at right in the eye.
And today that's exactly what he and you saw it
there at the end. That's one of the reasons why
he got that job. You go back nine months ago,
a lot of people maybe thought that boy, this was
Tyler Roll's team. Tyler Roll didn't get the opportunity. This
(47:28):
was the same opportunity that coach Poulsick missed out on
seven eight years ago, right, he got that opportunity. He
knows how special it is and you hear him talk
about it and it's real, Like you can't find a
more real dude than that guy.
Speaker 23 (47:42):
Also shout out, no that was a great interview.
Speaker 22 (47:45):
That was a great question on the sidelines.
Speaker 23 (47:47):
That was awesome.
Speaker 1 (47:47):
You did an emotional coach afterwards. Not everybody can do that,
but Noah did And I thought great words there from
the head coach, Eric and moorehead has been patient, patiently,
patiently waiting here on the phone lines. Eric, you wrote
that's on Bison hotline. What do you want to talk about?
Speaker 36 (48:01):
Well, I first want to say thank you guys for
what you do because I listened to every game and
I'm so very happy for coach p Bison Nation and
Easton Stick still holding on to a record. Yeah, the
turnover was huge, you guys hit on that and the
(48:24):
timely penalty face the face mask penalty really set it
up for that sack. What a way to end the game.
And then I've got a excuse me, but a selfish request,
and that is I was wounded in Iraq and lost
my eyesight, so that's why I pay attention to buy
(48:46):
them sixteen sixty so much. All your shows during the
week and all the games. Could one of you guys
describe where the Miller to Brace.
Speaker 37 (48:59):
Connection happened on where the players were, how did he
pull in that catch? And well, Frankly fear of the
Rabbit with a lamp to end their season.
Speaker 22 (49:10):
I love it. I love it. Thank you so much
for your service.
Speaker 1 (49:13):
For your service, Eric, thank you for calling in. Appreciate
the phone call, and appreciate your service to our country.
And go ahead, mean we'll play the highlight for you too.
Sam and Niederman can describe it better than anybody. But
that was a play for Cam going to Bryce. He
had I think seeing them multiple times, Jacob, they were
gonna go one on one. They were gonna put their
corner one on one with Bryce, give their guy a chance.
(49:34):
And I think Cam recognizes a couple of times with
how they lined up and he said, I'm just gonna
go to my guy once again. Bryce makes an unreal catch.
He goes up with that hand, catches it. I don't
know how he got the foot in as well. It
was very much a bang bang play in the same
corner of the same end zone where Rajah Nelson cut
the touchdown to beat SDSU earlier this year in kind
(49:56):
of that front corner on the side of the end zone,
came down with it. They called it incomplete. They looked
at review. Everyone saw the review in the Fargo Dome
and was yelling immediately. I think the players were celebrating immediately.
They were again a pushing Bryce Lance celebrating. One of
them couldn't believe it themselves. He came down with it,
went to review, and it was a fairly quick review.
They knew that one was going to be a completed
(50:16):
catch and a touchdown.
Speaker 22 (50:17):
I'm still shocked. Yeah, I'm still shocked that they came
back and reversed that, because again, when you stop it
with his hand on the ball and his foot on
the ground, yes, that's a catch right there in that millisecond.
I can't believe that they reviewed that or that they
reversed that call.
Speaker 1 (50:34):
I was good work, video crew, I was.
Speaker 22 (50:36):
I was utterly shocked and shout out to the Fargo
Dome inside having the angles that you could see it
and that stop of like that's a catch. Yeah, Just
the same as when Tim Paula Sick in the first
half had wondered if a player was out of bounds
that they were able to zoom in and look at
what is the first foot inbounds? But then the second one, Yeah,
(50:57):
same was imbounced, right, So the same kind of thing
that I guess that if you look at it, yes,
that that was definitive that it was that close of
a play because, as I said, the snap of the
fingers before and the snap of the fingers after that
is not a catch, but in that one split second,
I guess you have to call that a.
Speaker 1 (51:13):
Catch to I'll describe that what the defense was doing
the defensive look there, because that was multiple times. I
think at least that one and the first touchdown. Cam
checked to something on that first touchdown as well, and
I think he saw this was gonna be one on
one coverage for my guy and I'm going to take
a shot here.
Speaker 23 (51:28):
Yeah.
Speaker 21 (51:28):
So I think defense was a press press man cover two,
so two deep safeties over the top because there was
a second guy that was getting there late, but Cam
just knew, you know, I think they're on the twenty
five yard line, so it's kind of the field shrinks, right,
so you have there's a split sec of time there
where you can get it where it's gonna be. It
looks like man hopefully the safety is a little late.
And Cam just put the ball like Eric for you
where Cam put the ball, it was out. It's only
(51:49):
whereas there's one guy in the one guy in the field.
Speaker 23 (51:52):
That can catch it. Put it up high, put it
to the outside.
Speaker 21 (51:55):
Bryce did a great job getting off the press, kind
of get his leverage, stemmed it inside a bit and
put it out on the sidewalk. And you know, Bryce
Lance sticks up his right hand, makes an unreal one
handed catch, gets his right foot down touched on.
Speaker 22 (52:07):
Better catch or that or the one where Bryce got
his hand on the ground inboundunds better catch.
Speaker 23 (52:13):
I'll take this one just because the stakes of the game.
Speaker 1 (52:15):
Sculpe the sculpe. Yeah, see, I try and take that
out of it. When I'm talking about better catch, I'm
gonna go with the hand.
Speaker 23 (52:20):
They're both impressive.
Speaker 1 (52:21):
That was sick the ability to contort your body to
and talking with him too, he's like, I know, like
I get something in So he was doing it on purpose.
It wasn't just like my hand happened to fall and
he was doing it on purpose and got the hand.
It yeah, I probably go with that one just from
the that but this isn't to make it, but both
are unreal.
Speaker 22 (52:35):
Pl I'm telling you they go on to win an Attie.
I'll be the first one to say it. Tree Lance who.
Speaker 1 (52:40):
Yeah, yeah, remember that guy. It was Bryce Lance's older brother.
Speaker 22 (52:45):
Bryce, his older brother did something in Indiana.
Speaker 1 (52:48):
But we're almost getting to it at this point.
Speaker 22 (52:49):
It's I'm fine. I mean, I'm fine with that. And
I bet you Trey would be okay to to watch
his little brother succeed.
Speaker 21 (52:54):
Like tre tweeting during the game. I think he's just
okay with you. He's just fine with that right now.
Speaker 1 (52:58):
Yeah. By the way, Bryce Lan, that's the first time
these two teams played one catch nine yards. They get
a little different story today. It's been a good career
and he also breaks speaking you know, you know Eric
said best, you know, best catch ever, better than you
know or Tim Pouli Sikes had best catch ever better
than Zach raw with the over the helmet catch. He
(53:19):
did break a record today, price He broke Zach VRA's
record for most touchdowns in a season by a Bison
receiver was twenty thirteen of fifteen touchdown receptions by Zach
Raw Bryce Lance today gets to sixteen on the season,
a new NDSU record for a guy that came into
the year with one career reception. That's how great this
this wide receiver room has been this year.
Speaker 21 (53:39):
It'll probably get a couple more, hopefully against either South
Dakota and Montana.
Speaker 23 (53:42):
Did I can foresee that potentially see right.
Speaker 1 (53:45):
In Frisco by the way, right now, Montana State up

It's Logan Cop who had the hit. Loss up two.
It'll be fourth down South Dakota State. No choice but
to punt.
Speaker 1 (58:35):
Huge play right there for the Bison, Logan Cop one
of his ten tackles on the day for the Beson linebacker.
Logan Cop finishes with ten total tackles, three of them solo.
Also two tackles for loss, including that one right there.
Third and one filled the gap, knocked them back Stsu
had to punt. That's when it was going back and
forth in that third quarter. Logan Cop on defense. He

to watch pregame. He's our player in the game. After
the game, our cool performer of the game. After the game,
I should say our Dakota refrigeration. Cool performer, Logan Cop
pre especial moment. He has been good his whole career.
He's been a different level here during these playoffs especially.
Speaker 23 (59:37):
And that's what we talked about in the pregame.
Speaker 21 (59:39):
Just you know, in these big time games, you need
your players that have been playing the best all season
to step up and play their best game. And like
you said, Logan Cop, ten toll tackles three solos, you know,
two TfL's.
Speaker 23 (59:48):
That's that's a big time from a linebacker.
Speaker 21 (59:50):
And I thought as a whole you know Kubit's words,
Gully Enoch played unreal our defense. We we we said
they need to play their best game, and I think
they did. Paul Second would have DoD that in this presser.
Speaker 1 (01:00:01):
Yeah, we've got a few more people. I think we
should honor for our cool performer of the game as well.
Before we do that, let's go back to the phone
lines quickly. Mike and Sue falls. Mike, the one that
gave us the impassioned speech last week about filling the
dang dome cheer in here. You know what, off I'm
coming away with the victory, he joins us. Now, Mike,
I'm sure you're already on the way back to Sue Falls.
(01:00:22):
This had to be a pretty special one for you today.
Speaker 39 (01:00:25):
Oh heck yeah, what a what a great Bison victory
that was. We were greased with the presence of one
Chris Hansen at our tailgate. So I Chris, I hope
you had.
Speaker 22 (01:00:37):
A good time, had a very good time. Thank you
very much. They got me to drink a jack Rabbit
beer some one of their friends from South to goot like,
you know what, my two favorite briers are cold or free. Yeah,
but then they bring out a blue and yellow one.
I'm like, oh my god, this is even me stretching
a little bit. But no, thanks for the hospitality today.
Speaker 1 (01:00:58):
So maybe I lost Mike there, But Mike, we're thinking
think for the call, appreciate the call here on Bison Hotline.
And one of those Jack Rebert fans or you know
guy from South Dakota, it's an endsu fan. We always
welcomed him and he was a very passionate listener last week,
and I think Bison Nation responded with a good effort overall.
Well look quiet at that in the first and second quarter,
but really came to play in that third and fourth quarter.
Speaker 22 (01:01:19):
Making a difference and getting ready for this eleven o'clock kickoff. Obviously,
you know, it changes everyone's plans. It's something different, it's
not what we're accustomed to. But as a player, do
you think that there was anything we talked about this
last week? Do you think there was anything of that
of the first by the third quarter where people like
the initial high has gone down and now we're just
leveled out or.
Speaker 21 (01:01:38):
I don't know, it's time maybe in a regular season
game when it's just you know, not that.
Speaker 23 (01:01:42):
Obviously, every game is important. I'll getting a coach speak here.
Speaker 21 (01:01:45):
The most important game is your next game, right, But
I think with it being you know, the National semi
Finals playing.
Speaker 23 (01:01:49):
South Coast State eleven, you could play that.
Speaker 21 (01:01:52):
Game at two am in the morning and the guys
are gonna go get I mean, I don't just with
the stakes and everything that's going on kind of Garnowski
cam Miller, You just I think those guys could have
played the game, you know and Moscow Rush at two.
Speaker 1 (01:02:06):
Am on a Tuesday, and they would have been good.
Speaker 23 (01:02:08):
I don't know how I just came up.
Speaker 1 (01:02:09):
With that, but yeah, Moscow Rush two am on a Tuesday.
There are a couple of Vodkas Moscow Rush. It just
seems like that one maybe could fit. We want somebody
want to go back to talking about some of the
other players. I think, not maybe unsung heroes, but people
who I thought had a great game. When their best
was required, they played their best. We were talking pregame
Jake about the safeties for NDYSU, how SDSU was gonna
(01:02:33):
make them tackle. There was gonna be quarterback run game
in this game, and there was quite a bit. They
used Mark Gronowski on the ground a ton in this game,
and even Chase Mason a little bit. But how about
for ENDYSU you get Ryan Jones, the guy that basically
was benched early on the season right started, basically was
benched about midway or halfway through a non conference and
going into conference season, he plays today seven total tackles,
(01:02:56):
three solo half tackle for loss. Jalen Crumby the young
man six tackles, all of them solo, which means those
are in space. Those are game changing type of tackles,
and he got all of them to the ground. And
Darius Gibbons four tackles as well, one of those was solo.
He also had a pass breakup. In this game, the
safety play was as good as we have seen it
from those young guys who aren't really young anymore. They
(01:03:18):
came up in a big way today.
Speaker 23 (01:03:19):
Yeah, you know, we challenged them.
Speaker 21 (01:03:20):
I'm sure their coaches, you know, Coach Climbing, coach Johnson,
go and Goose were challenging them all week, like we
need you guys to play your best.
Speaker 23 (01:03:27):
Game right now.
Speaker 21 (01:03:28):
And that was kind of the question mark we had
in the pregame, how are these guys gonna hold up
against you know, the Gardowski passing attack with Wildie and
the tight ends the right.
Speaker 23 (01:03:35):
They passed the test. They played their best.
Speaker 21 (01:03:37):
Game of the year when we needed it, and NDACU
wins twenty eight to twenty one, and that was that.
Speaker 1 (01:03:42):
And they had eighteen carries from quarterbacks today. Yeah, eighteen
quarterback runs. Now, some of those probably scrambles, but most
of those were designed quarterback runs. So they were gonna
challenge the safetests and challenge the secondary to tackle, and
NDSU secondary definitely answered the call and will They didn't
have a crazy game either, four receptions for sixty six yards,
no score.
Speaker 22 (01:03:58):
And you get a little banged up in the second
quarter and I don't know if that affected him at
all his performances went on, but definitely the uh Gronowski
running the ball, he like was kind of cam millerest
right like it you get five six yards, he'd be patient, wait, wait, wait, okay,
now go let the you know line move ahead in
front of him. But you know, when he's back in quarterback,
he can find those guys yep, Like he finds people.
(01:04:21):
If you were gonna leave him in a hole, he's
gonna find them. And lucky there was or the one
of the first quarter on the final drive that Gronowski
threw one right where it needed to be and right
through twelve's hands Gary about the twenty five yard line,
like right through his hands.
Speaker 23 (01:04:36):
It could be a different different vibe at the post
game show.
Speaker 22 (01:04:39):
If that would we might have been talking about an
overtime game.
Speaker 1 (01:04:41):
Yea be playing right now. Who that would have been
for a long long time. So I think that the
safety deserved a little bit of a shout out there
for the for their play. And then we haven't touched
on Cody Heisman enough yet. And I know a guy
that just plays one of those dirty positions in the
middle that d tackle spot. We talked about Eli Mostart
all the time, Will most start quite a bit, even
Jackson Duton Happer. We did mention Cody Heisman, but how
(01:05:03):
about the performance from him today? Kind of just unguardable,
especially in the second half for Cody. He finishes with
six tackles, five of them solo, and two and a
half tackles were lost, plus a quarterback hurry and a
forced fumble. In this game, I got he's coming back
in the middle of that defensive line in absolute terror.
He could not be blocked in that second half. And
this is a very good jack from its offensive line.
(01:05:25):
They couldn't handle it.
Speaker 21 (01:05:27):
Yeah, and this is kind of so funny story, So
I'll go back, you know, three four years ago, when
Cody Heisman comes in as a freshman, he's kind of
a goofy. If anyone knows Cody, he's kind of a
little different duck. Love the kid, but different duck. And
coach Bouoto Williams, who obviously just lost with Indiana and
Notre Dame, was telling us, We're like sitting there like, yeah,
what's up with this Cody Heisman kid? But it's like,
mark my words, that dude when he gets older and
(01:05:48):
figures it out and puts the weight on. He's gonna
be an animal, and we're kind of just like he's
a freshman. He's kind of Boodoo Williams is like that.
Cody Heisman, he is gonna be a free show on
the d line. And obviously now we're you're seeing him,
and that's an unbelievable stat line just the face mask
that doesn't.
Speaker 1 (01:06:03):
Go on the face mask yet he had an like.
Speaker 21 (01:06:05):
Obviously the face mask got called because Cody Heisman cooked.
Speaker 22 (01:06:08):
The dude beat hard bad and.
Speaker 21 (01:06:10):
The guy just had to reach out and try to
grab something. And obviously fourth and seventeen happens because of that.
But no, hats hop to Cody what He's a heck
of a player in great game.
Speaker 1 (01:06:19):
Yeah, maybe the two biggest plays of the game the
face mask and he forces the fumble. Yeah right, I mean,
how massive are those two plays?
Speaker 23 (01:06:25):
True?
Speaker 22 (01:06:26):
At the very post two they happened, those are two
monumental plays.
Speaker 1 (01:06:29):
So Cody Heisman could definitely be our Dakota Refrigeration cool
performer as well. Let's quickly pause ten seconds for station identification.

A team that's always in the end zone, like Cam
Miller was on that play right there, a touchdown run.
(01:12:32):
Cam finishes fifteen attempts, ninety three yards and a score
on the ground average over six yards a carry. And
then we said they were gonna use his legs, Jake.
We said, first time these two teams played, he had
the bump ankle. He couldn't really run. They weren't going
to use him in the run game. Cam Miller Run Game.
Huge factor of today's victory.
Speaker 21 (01:12:52):
Yeah, it had to be because there was absolutely nothing
going with the Running Right run game. I think coach
Possars said that in this presser, Who's like, I don't
know who asked the questions like what happened?
Speaker 23 (01:13:00):
What was your guys running back run? It was bad? Yeah,
the story and.
Speaker 1 (01:13:04):
The Hardy Brown three or eleven for twenty three. Barrika
was six for twenty eight. That's pretty good, but not
many carries. And Jackson Williams had won for twelve. That
was decent, I guess, but yeah, outside of Cander, really
it was not much sledding for the running backs.
Speaker 22 (01:13:17):
A lot of second and nine's, a lot of third
and eights, a lot of third and sevens, and yeah,
when it's not and you you kind of had that
feeling maybe like Okay, they're gonna have to pass on
some of these things. And and I know Indiasu passing
on first down is not something you see other than
the first drive of the game, right, which is like, okay,
they came out chucking it and then they kind of
went away from that and then came back to it
(01:13:38):
in the fourth quarter, but the running game just wasn't
a lot there outside of number seven today.
Speaker 23 (01:13:42):
And Truman, where myer with a catch today?
Speaker 1 (01:13:46):
Didn't he? I don't think he got any yards on it.
Was it a catch for negative yards, but he got it.
It was a catch. It was to catch it.
Speaker 22 (01:13:54):
Sure, an incomplete would have been better, but we'll take it.
Speaker 1 (01:13:56):
It was a catch, brought it in good control on
that one from Truman. Where my all of our game

in account. Today Andy ASU gets to win twenty eight
to twenty one over South Dakota State is take a
look at our Jiffy loeup before go scoreboard. Only one
game to really look at right now, Fellas. We'll touch
on the FBS here in just a bit, but the
other game and the other semi final going on, and
it is a ten point lead twenty four to fourteen
for Montana State over South Dakota at the half there
(01:14:42):
in Bozeman, a one score game basically the entire way.
Late in the half, Montana State makes it a two
score game with the field goal. They have a ten
point lead. Is that is an outer striking distance right
now for ust no.
Speaker 23 (01:14:55):
Glad to see Montana State has a kicker this year.
But no, it's still und that's true.
Speaker 21 (01:15:03):
I don't know true, but I mean it's still just
if you're usd just keep you know, extending the game.
Speaker 23 (01:15:08):
Run the ball.
Speaker 21 (01:15:09):
Not sure who gets the ball out a halftime here,
but ten points is especially with calling the new rules
with I guess the old rules.
Speaker 6 (01:15:18):
I don't know.
Speaker 23 (01:15:18):
I still think they got a shot with current rules rules.
Speaker 22 (01:15:21):
Yeah, well, what they gotta do is they got to
keep the ball out of number four's hands when a
lot is on the field. Like the dude's electric right,
like I mean he is, he's really something. And if
they go on to hold and win, uh, that is
a heck of a matchup of a team that hasn't
lost all year. Now that you can argue all you want.
They play in the Big Sky, but every year it
seems like the Missouri Valley team snipes him at the
(01:15:43):
end of the year. There would be nothing better than
INDIASU to snipe that away in Frisco in a couple
of weeks.
Speaker 21 (01:15:49):
If we end up playing Montasted, I might not be
able to go down to frist call im.
Speaker 16 (01:15:52):
We get.
Speaker 22 (01:15:54):
There's probably people, there's probably people who your name is
on their naughty list.
Speaker 21 (01:15:59):
And Eli Mostart was the one that hurt him last Like,
we haven't played a healthy time a lot for four
quarters as NDSU, and we'll kind of get into this
as we kind of see how this game goes out.
Speaker 23 (01:16:09):
But if Tommy A. Lott doesn't get hurt in the third,
third or fourth quarter last year, that different that Lewis touched,
that's probably that might be it.
Speaker 21 (01:16:17):
Yeah, it's a different game. But we'll see NSU beat
South Coast State today.
Speaker 22 (01:16:21):
That's all, Matt, That's all that matters right now.
Speaker 1 (01:16:22):
Who would you rather face between these two teams. You
have a conference pudal that knows you really well. Montana
State knows you well too. I guess you've seen them
enough times. The number one team the vegan the chance
might be ended undefeated season and the last one for
Tommy crushed somebody's hopes.
Speaker 23 (01:16:37):
I just think it'd be I.
Speaker 21 (01:16:40):
Think obviously being beat either team, right, I just think
Montanga like, we've beat Montana State a lot, We've kind
of handled.
Speaker 23 (01:16:48):
Them a couple two three times.
Speaker 21 (01:16:50):
Last year obviously was a really tight game, Like I mean,
just playing the odds, right, at some point you would
think Montana State would win, right eventually, eventually, like you,
I think at one point Montana State will beat NDSU.
Is that if they win as that in first call?
I don't know, but you would think at some point
it'll happen South Dakota.
Speaker 16 (01:17:09):
I don't know.
Speaker 23 (01:17:10):
It's kind of a toss up for me.
Speaker 1 (01:17:11):
It gets South Dakota in place they've never been. Montanta's
at least been to a championship. They can know the
rhythm and the routine. Event I'd probably rather face South
Dakota and get a rematch of a game you felt
like you should have won earlier in the season, a
chance for some revenge there personally. But right now, Montana
State's got the ten point lead up twenty four to fourteen,
and they are just underway in quarter number three right now,
(01:17:32):
and I guess raud Cota's got the ball.
Speaker 22 (01:17:34):
I'd rather not play the guy who's gonna finish runner
up in.
Speaker 1 (01:17:36):
The Walter Payton That's true, fair enough, you know what
I mean the way it was put.
Speaker 22 (01:17:40):
Yeah, Like I don't want to face the guy who's
gonna be the second place in three horse right.
Speaker 21 (01:17:43):
Hey, Jimmy Rodgers said today that it's Cam Miller's award.
So I mean, if you've got Tim paulis SHOs gonna say,
Jimmy Rodgers is gonna say it. I'm guessing Nielsen, being
a Valley guy, would say that too.
Speaker 23 (01:17:53):
Just give it to Cam. Come on, let's just get
just give it to him. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:17:56):
A couple other scores for you. At the FBS level.
Penn State wins today thirty eight ten against SMU. They
move on SMU season is done. And then a twenty
one to seven league right now for Texas at home
against Clemson three point thirty to go in quarter number two.
Clemson does have the football, but they look they gonna
be punting their way here in just a little bit.
Anything else intrigue out of that stuff. Penn State actually good?
(01:18:18):
Or is that?
Speaker 23 (01:18:19):
I know?
Speaker 21 (01:18:19):
Lane Kiffin's going crazy on Twitter right now? About just
bad games in the college Football Playoff. If any of
you guys Fallow Lan Kiffin go check out his Twitter
him and Joel clad.
Speaker 1 (01:18:28):
Win more games. Joel the game the playoff, then that
was awesome.
Speaker 39 (01:18:33):
I think.
Speaker 22 (01:18:33):
I think especially with the games being at home that
we've seen the home teams now go to and oh
and convincing lead two and oh and if Texas can
go on to do that too, I think that it's
gonna play out that it's going to show that in
this playoff. If that's the format you're gonna have, I
think you're gonna see at that seventy five to eighty
percent win rate by the home team time in and
time out, if that's what they want to do, which
(01:18:53):
I'm totally cool.
Speaker 1 (01:18:54):
Yeah, Well, at the FCS level after the first round,
once you get past that, definitely bit home teams that
want right out every the Seeds have held so far,
right so it has been all home tams at the
FCS level as well. That's a look at our jiffylue

take a break, let's go back to the phone lines
once again. We've got Joel in Minneapolis given us a call. Joel,
you're here with us on Bison Hotline.
Speaker 44 (01:19:33):
Hey, guys, just want to say I think you guys
do a great job. First time caller, longtime listener. Throw
this one in you guys' way. Where where do you
guys think this one ranks in terms of semi finals games?
I think guys still have Georgia Southern number one, probably
JAMU number two because I felt like that was the
national championship game and this one. You feel like you
(01:19:53):
get a good game either way, whether you play the
the Bobcats or the Kyo. So where'd you guys have
this one? I'd have a third excited to hear what
you guys have to say. I'll hang up and listen.
Speaker 1 (01:20:02):
I think it's a great question, and thanks for the
college Joel. I appreciate you listening as well. First time
caller with a heck of a question. Call it more often.
That's a great, great question. This one means it ends
Stsu's run two. So I think the ask got a
factor into the victory.
Speaker 22 (01:20:16):
But you go first, the Georgia southerns were so early
and this was all brand new, right and and knowing like,
oh this is a premier program. Yeah, like we got
him here and to be able to what they did,
I think sneakily. I don't know where you put today.
History will talk about that, but boy, a game you
played in a couple of years ago, instant carnate word
was another nuts one, just because I had it coming
(01:20:36):
from behind, like a huge deficit, well huge in quotation
mark deficit sixteen points. Yeah, I mean I would also
put that one up there and the top three if
not a be on that one.
Speaker 23 (01:20:47):
Yeah, I don't.
Speaker 21 (01:20:48):
I'm gonna be biased because I played in the game,
like I was there for the I was on the
field when Deston Tower made the pick, Like I'm my rankings.
Speaker 23 (01:20:55):
Would probably be the same as Joels.
Speaker 21 (01:20:57):
Probably i'd put JAMU ahead of Georgia Southern just because
I played in that and I wasn't at the jugier
Southern game because that was I was ten. I don't
say that that was gonna get some weird look.
Speaker 23 (01:21:09):
By the way, come on, but uh no, I'd agree.
Speaker 21 (01:21:12):
I'd go probably Jeger Southern just from the you know,
you just hear about that game. It's like in Lore
Buys and Lord brock Jensen the Flu game, all that
jam you the pick just sending Kurt Signetti off to
a loss out of the scs now he lost again.
So now when people google him, they'renna see a couple
more losses on his record.
Speaker 23 (01:21:29):
But and then this google just google he loses when
it matters.
Speaker 21 (01:21:34):
But yeah, and then yeah, this game, I mean, like
you said, Andy, just ending stsu's little kind of two
year blip they had because they got lucky with COVID
and stuff we're not going to go into. But and
then cam Miller's legacy, Gronowski keeping him tied with Easton
for all the time wins.
Speaker 23 (01:21:52):
Yeah, I mean, there's there's a lot to choose from.
But I think Joe, I think he had it right.
Speaker 1 (01:21:55):
There are so many other storylines you with Tim Polse's
first year and getting to Frisco in that first year,
cam Miller's end of his career and did finish it
the right way. I person, I think I'm gonna put
Jmu number one for me, just and I've only watched
the Georgia, so other one. I didn't get a chance
to be there in person. But that was ending arrival,
that was ending something. I was Jmu's run was coming
(01:22:17):
to an end in that game. To end something. The
finality of it, too, I think is special in that
game that you didn't have in the other ones.
Speaker 22 (01:22:24):
I think that was the only final loss and correct right,
that was avenging of that one too.
Speaker 1 (01:22:30):
Sound and the crowd was at a completely another I
felt like more than what it was today as well,
that they were able to kind of end things right there.
The crowd was electric that game, the entire game. I
thought today's crowd was really good. I felt like in
the first couple of quarters it was a little bit
like only loud on third downs. It's like a little
while to get going. Just Jmu felt like, man, every play,
(01:22:52):
that thing was on fire, Fanny. So it changes, right,
it changes things.
Speaker 22 (01:23:00):
This a couple of different times is that when you
get married, your first couple of years of marriage are
just unbelievable, Like it's just you know you have It's
just it's so special. As you go on, you have
a couple of kids, you get deeper in your careers,
you look back at those days and say, wow, those
are really the good days. But are the Are those
the best days or are the best days you're currently living?
And those GMU games are great, But when you go
(01:23:21):
back to those Georgia Southern games, I think INDIACU fans
will look at those games as it was brand new,
like that was that was the first couple of years
of marriage, right, like we had the brock Jensen thing
in eastern Washington that was diseased, and then after that
to finally, you know, then get to Frisco for the
first time. How do we get tickets? Oh my god,
we're going again and you believe it, Like that brand
new marriage stage of going through that was so exciting
(01:23:45):
because it was what it was bliss because of what
it was. It was so brand new, and it was
like something you'd watched all those years, Like you heard
of those teams like Marshall doing it and Georgia Southern
has done all this and now indians US ran way
past whatever Georgia Southern had ever done in FBA, yes,
or an FC excuse me. So I think that you
have to look at it through the lens of what
(01:24:05):
really is it? What makes it more special? Is it
more special because it was the first two and how
loud it wasn't how special it was, and the ticket
crashing and you couldn't get tickets and people freaking out
how are we going to get tickets to where today
it's like, yeah, that was great, you beat your rival,
and that's fantastic, don't get me wrong, but it's like
a fifth kid.
Speaker 23 (01:24:24):
How do you how do you know?
Speaker 22 (01:24:25):
What I mean is which one of your kids is
your favorite? So to put a little old time perspective
on it, and you go back to even the people
who lived through it through the nineties of seeing those
national championships. You asked Phil Hanson, those games that they
had to beat, you know, Pittsburgh State or having to
you know, go to emparty and play, or beating USD
in the national those are the most important games to
them at that time. So that when ranking it, it's it's.
Speaker 1 (01:24:49):
To look on each one fondly. I think you can
go back and do the ones like Georgia something that
were earlier, like they kind of got things going, and
those are fun too. The ones like today are extra
specially because again all the story lines, all the other
things that get tacked onto it, like you got the
nd SDUs hues run a little bit, and it felt
like if you had lost today and SDSU goes on,
like this was gonna be the real changing of the guard,
(01:25:11):
like they were really now they're the they're the kings,
like you're not even You're not on the same level.
They're on a different level than you. Now that there
was a lot more I thought stakes to this one.
If you had lost Georgia Southern would have been bad,
Don't get me wrong, But it's like, okay, like we're
building something. We're gonna get there, We're gonna be good point,
whereas today was like man, we gotta wine, you got it,
Like there's just it felt like there was more at stake.
Speaker 22 (01:25:31):
India who married a supermodel in their first couple of
years and being eligible in the playoffs, they married a supermodel.
Don't get me wrong, Yeah, I'm with you.
Speaker 1 (01:25:39):

It's not Chris's favorite.
Speaker 22 (01:32:30):
It's a gut for me.
Speaker 21 (01:32:31):
It's gonna be good for the players that for any
of you who don't know. In the end, Earthluck Department
obviously did their due diligence. They put it all out
to bid. Whatever the deal we're getting with under Armour,
for our players, for our athletes, for coaching, you know,
it's gonna be a better deal for athletic department.
Speaker 22 (01:32:45):

What cool gear do you have? What can you outfit me?
How big of a bag am I walking out of
practice with?
Speaker 21 (01:32:54):
And for anyone who doesn't know, with Nike Nike football, obviously,
I think Nike's the number one football just gear we
were dealing with. We had like a middleman between Nike.
We weren't directly through corporate Nike. Nike keeps that for Alabama,
clems in just the top of the top. With under Aimer,
we will be directly with corporate under Aymer, which will
be a big deal for our university.
Speaker 1 (01:33:12):
He'll help you out and get some stuff you need.
Maybe we'll see what they look like. The colors are

NDSU gets the win. Here's one from Tadak. The Polish
Bison who is here with us at Applebase today as well,
says Hello, gentlemen, thank Heaven for number seven. SDSU, you
got most by mister lance Go Bizon from Tadak. Yes,
(01:33:34):
we're thinking about your Andy Moss absolutely go Moss cancer
first off, but yeah, mister lance I think we're all
trying to come up with a name for that last
touchdown of his the games, the game winner from Bryce.
I don't know, high five, going up high for it?
Number five, that's kind of simple. You got a few
other potentials. If you got any names for the touchdown,
We got names for all these plays. We got to
come up with one there for the Bryce Lance catch
(01:33:57):
somehow getting his feed in, somehow making the plays. I
got that one. If you got a name for the
Bryce Lance touchdown catch, let us know seven zero one, four,
seven six, sixteen sixty.
Speaker 23 (01:34:05):
What's called?
Speaker 1 (01:34:07):
I've always called it the pick of destiny, pick of best.
Speaker 22 (01:34:10):
Yeah, I'm gonna go with Bryce's bunny beater. Yeah, some
good alliteration by the three bes. It works into it
gets the team in there so you don't forget who
it was against. Not that you would, but Bryce's bunny beater,
I think is that's gonna be my favorite.
Speaker 23 (01:34:24):
Bryce's bunny beater.
Speaker 21 (01:34:25):
Hmm, I'm really thinking now my brain doesn't work as
well as it used to football.
Speaker 1 (01:34:29):
Well, Bryce Lance with a big play, and I think
he had an older brother that played for the program too,
who had made some plays.
Speaker 22 (01:34:34):
He's gonna be a side note, you know, and and
the SU history.
Speaker 1 (01:34:38):
A few more text messages here, this one from Bert
on Cody Heinsman. He says Cody Heisman should be the
player of the game. He changed the tone of the game.
Kind of mentioned the same thing a little while ago. Bert,
he could absolutely be the player of the game. There's
a number of players that could be. And we talked
about touchdowns and points matter. Points are what matters at
the end of the day, that's how you win the game.
But perhaps the two biggest plays Cody Heisman forces a fumble.
(01:35:01):
Cody Heisman forces a face mask, and those two completely
changed the outcome I think of this game. You get
the ball back to the Bison, when momentum was on
the side of sds U quite a bit, they had
a chance to potentially go up two scores. He forces
a fumble. And then when Astsju was driving and they
made some plays and they were going to get in position,
maybe tie that thing up with a touchdown, he forces
(01:35:23):
a great plan, forces a face mask. It was it
was forced by him. It wasn't just lucky or unlucky.
He beat a guy had to reach out, grabbed his
face mask, and that completely ended that drive basically.
Speaker 21 (01:35:32):
Yeah, And I know some people think like, oh, Byzon
got bailed out by no, Cody Heisman had a great
pass rush and if that offensive lineman doesn't grab his face,
it's a sack. Yeah, So I mean Cody Heisman earned
that penalty. But no, like you said, Cody Heisman very
easily could have been the play of the game. And
then to go back to Bryce Lance. If anyone's on Twitter,
I saw Noah Pauley, who used to be a wide
receiver coach is now the wide receiver coach and passing
(01:35:53):
game coordinated at Iowa State, tweeted at Bryce during the game,
like basically because obviously PAULI was here when Bryce was
a freshman exit.
Speaker 23 (01:36:00):
Coach Paul and I said, don't you dare?
Speaker 21 (01:36:02):
Oh yeah, I said, don't you don't there No, absolutely
not not happening to happen.
Speaker 1 (01:36:12):
You can have him, We'll take Bryce. Bryce has been
pretty special. He's phenomenal and the plays he made today
man on that stage and hey, this is a game
that you know is on ABC, it's nationally televice. There's
people that you learned about Bryce Lance today and they
learned a pretty good lesson the guy's dangerous.
Speaker 22 (01:36:29):
And three touchdowns. I mean that's of the four you scored.
He was responsible along with Cam for three of them.
But you got to catch them, right, you always throw them.
But for him to come out and just show out
this year has been something special that I know, our
guy Zach Mathis had a huge year last year, right,
and you're like at the start of that was like, oh,
he could really do something, and now this year is
like who's going to be the person's step up after
(01:36:51):
Eli left? Like who's in that wide receiver room It's
going to step up? We would I think people just
hoped Bryce would be that guy, Like you wanted him
to be that guy, like we remember the the brother
and the family is fantastic and still coming to games
and still supporting the Bison.
Speaker 1 (01:37:04):
He was just like the second or third leading receiver.
We'd be happy, like, oh, yeah, Roger can be the
guy here, but he just might be good and we
can bring you along slowly. And didn't happen slowly. Even
from Colorado on. He's been a factor every step of
the way, and he passes Zach raw today for the
most receiving touchdowns in a season by a Binsen receiver.
Here's one from Aaron says, I predicted STSU to win today.
(01:37:25):
It is great to be wrong. The defense bode up
when it needed to. Miller and Lance were the best
players on the field by far, And to be honest
with the Aaron, I predicted NDSU to win twenty four
to twenty. I feel pretty good about the prediction, by
the way, fairly close. If you put some truth serium
in me, I've been like, I feel a little squeezy.
We were talking about it on the off air, like
(01:37:47):
I still do think NDSU will win. I truly did,
But man, this was as dangerous as I had felt
going into a game against sts who, even more so
than the National Championship. I felt like NDS, who's been here,
they do championships. They don't lose in Frisco. I actually
felt better about that one than I did about this game,
just because of the injuries, because of what NBAC would lost,
because of the health SDS you had. They got Tucker
Large back, they had players back that hadn't been there before.
(01:38:09):
Four Heats was back too. He didn't play in the
earlier mediing. He didn't have Sam Young. You didn't have
Jake Rock. You didn't have some of those players, and
I felt like this was gonna be tough. But man,
there are some players who stepped up in a huge
way and never doubt the heart of a champion and
never doubt the heart of the Bison.
Speaker 23 (01:38:24):
So they never doubt the heart of the Bison.
Speaker 1 (01:38:25):
Yeah, let's go for sure. So I was kind of
right there with you, Aaron. You're not the only one.
There's a lot of people going into this one thinking
this is gonna be tough. But you come into the
Fargo Dome, you best with let the Bison. You can
get the horns. I got the horns of that.
Speaker 6 (01:38:37):
Yeah.
Speaker 21 (01:38:37):
All my buddies in our group chat, we're like, oh yeah,
we're hammer in South Dakosta State. We're all on South
coast state. I'm like, hey, I'm not gonna say anything,
but go ahead.
Speaker 22 (01:38:44):
And the demise of the Bison has been extremely exaggerating. Yeah,
and I think that, Yeah, and you see this game
that being at home made a huge difference. Is not
for the travel of it is is something different playing
in the stadium once you get out there and you
start playing, But boy, you get into the elements, anything
can happen. But I think that Indisu showed of why
(01:39:06):
those those season games matter so much, and how many
times it had been you had seen this jake a
lot of times that NDS you would lose that regular
season game and be like, oh, they're not gonna have it.
It's not happening again in December. Jimmy Roberts tried to
play that card back in October.
Speaker 23 (01:39:20):
We'll see in December.
Speaker 22 (01:39:21):
We'll see in December, right right, like you just say
it and saying it is like, yeah, you know, that's
one thing, but doing.
Speaker 1 (01:39:28):
Probably is gonna happen almost every year.
Speaker 22 (01:39:29):
Yeah, doing it is a whole other thing.
Speaker 1 (01:39:32):
Yep.
Speaker 22 (01:39:32):
Like saying it is one thing, doing it's another.
Speaker 1 (01:39:34):
And now Jimmy Rodgers has gotten to come to the
fargodom a couple of times and hasn't turned out well
for him.
Speaker 22 (01:39:39):
It doesn't break my heart.
Speaker 1 (01:39:40):
There you go, he's gonna you know, now, next year's
gonna go back down to Brookings. We'll get that one
down there. But now, Nys, you have to lose some
five in a row. You went too in a row
in this series. One quick phone call for us here
as well, Let's go get Jackson in Wisconsin giving us
a call. Jackson, you're here with us on Bison Hotline.
Speaker 8 (01:39:57):
Hey, Andy, how's it going.
Speaker 1 (01:40:00):
Let's go in great Jackson. Great to be a Bison today.
Speaker 47 (01:40:03):
Yes, sir, I agree. Sorry, I'm I'm just I'm at
work right now, so I just I've been listening to
the game on the radio. Just a couple of things.
My my m VP of this game is Bryce Lance.
Speaker 27 (01:40:19):
I didn't see the.
Speaker 47 (01:40:20):
Catch, but I heard it on the radio, and I
don't know what it looks like, but I heard it
was a spectacular one hand to catch and I think
like he had five catches over one hundred yards. So
he's my MVP of the game. And I have a
joke to go along with the theme of playing the
(01:40:42):
jack rabbit. What do you call a rabbit who is
angry over getting burns? Hot cross?
Speaker 8 (01:40:47):
Bunny?
Speaker 23 (01:40:50):
There you go?
Speaker 1 (01:40:51):
Love it, Jackson, thanks for the call here with us
on buys and hotline, calling it from work, dedication right there.
I love that we've got an offer working out of
the game. But you know it's still pretty good calling
or two Byson Hotline. Yeah, I mean, Bryce, that's just phenomenal.
We've talked about it quite a bit and that hard
to believe. The guy had one catch in his career
before this year. Yeah, and the way he has just
completely blown up on the scene has been spectacled.
Speaker 21 (01:41:11):
I think if you ask the guys though, just seeing
what he's done you in spring ball, fall camp, on
scout team, everyone kind of from inside the program, they
kind of knew this was gonna happen with Bryce, and
obviously doing it in practice and doing it in spring
ball is one thing.
Speaker 23 (01:41:23):
And then going out and the lights.
Speaker 21 (01:41:24):
Are on on Saturday afternoon, Saturday night, Saturday morning today,
that's a that's a whole nother story. But just extremely
happy and like you said, it's everything and we kind
of knew, like, Okay, hopefully Bryce Lance is gonna be
that dude this year and everything we could have wanted
plus so much more is what he's been this year
for NDSU.
Speaker 22 (01:41:40):
Absolutely, I don't think there'll be many people who would
have thought he was going to set the single season
touchdown the first receivers now, mind dude, the first eighty
five years of buys and football, if you had five
in a year, that was unheard of, right, So with
a small agreen of salt, albeit but as NBAC was
evolved in and into that team with the great quarterbacks.
(01:42:02):
To Brice to put his name up there with everybody.
The r j is Zundowski, zach Vral has already been mentioned,
like you getting mentioned with those guys. I go back
to like a Warren Holiday even like the dude was.
Speaker 1 (01:42:11):
A beast, yeah, but he's there a shepherd, Yeahshan Watson.
Speaker 22 (01:42:15):
They're not catching that many touchdowns in a year.
Speaker 1 (01:42:17):
No, And I think you know also some credit. You know,
players make plays, but they'd been put in the position
to make them. And think Jake Landry put him in
some really good spots. They had a lot of one
on one coverage. They had plays where they were able
to draw the defense up and Bryce got behind him
on a number of them because Cam let those balls go.
And You're like, Bryce is a step He's got a
step ahead, maybe a step and a half right now.
So I think Jake Landry put him in good spots
(01:42:38):
and he trusted Cam and he trusted Bryce to make
the plays. And I saw him up in the press
boxer and that the coaches box there as well. After
a couple of those touchdowns, that dude his fire. He
was he was on one today and that was pretty
special to see too. So some credit definitely out to
Jake Landry dialing up the offense here for Endy as
soon his first year as the offensive coordinator. You got
to take a break. We'll come back and we got
a few more phone calls, a few more text message
(01:43:00):
and some emails. We'll get to all of them here.

Time for more reaction from today's game Quring Games your
host Andy Rickoff Lance.
Speaker 18 (01:47:47):
The receiver left ormor tight end wing left stuff full handed,
a dirt tight end right, Williams off the wing right
Brown the running back. First and ten play action Fake
Camp sets up looks long has a man behind the
day come no guess who guess who Number five Bryce
(01:48:08):
last Camp delivers it forty seven yards, buys it back
on top touchdown at ESU.
Speaker 1 (01:48:16):
It's twenty to fourteen. It's a special connection that seven
and five have Cam Miller Bryce Lance look up for
three touchdowns in this game, Cam also runs for one
and NDSU gets to win twenty eight to twenty one
over South Dakota State. They are moving on to another
FCS National Championship game, eleventh time, being down in Frisco
(01:48:38):
and trying to win title number ten a couple of
weeks from now, starting to look more and more it
might be taking on the Bobcats in Montana Stato Though
South Dakota did just get back on the scoreboard. Fellas.
It's now thirty one to seventeen Montana State with the
lead by two touchdowns, up by fourteen with two minutes
(01:49:00):
and fifty five seconds ago in quarter number three. Chances
of a comeback for USD at this.
Speaker 22 (01:49:06):
Point, Yeah, it's getting late early.
Speaker 1 (01:49:09):
We're playing Montana State and they've got to get a
stop and get a score very early in the uh
the fourth quarter.
Speaker 23 (01:49:15):
Chance, right, there's a chance, right.
Speaker 22 (01:49:18):
Chance Vegan saved the season.
Speaker 1 (01:49:20):
Yes, that's what it's going to be. Potentially down in
Frisco would have been completely that way. It was a
a scoop and score touchdown for Montana State. They ruled
though as the r USD player was down by contact,
and then they do get a Fueld goal out of it,
at the very least make it a two score game.
We do have another caller with us here on the
phone line seven zero one four seven six sixteen sixty.
(01:49:41):
This is Eric in Fargo with the call. Eric, you're
here with us on Bison hotline.
Speaker 27 (01:49:47):
Yeah, that Bryce lands that that was a Lynn Swan catch.
Speaker 1 (01:49:51):
You remember who was I don't I do? I do?
Speaker 22 (01:49:57):
Chris definitely does it definitely had that that kind of
like Jordan logo, kind of like reaching up and your
your legs kind of spread out a little bit, had
that feel to it. But yeah, lynch one definitely he
had to stick them for sure. Back in the day.
Speaker 27 (01:50:12):
Was there a chance that that play was not going
to get reviewed.
Speaker 22 (01:50:19):
That ultimately? Does that review come from the booth.
Speaker 1 (01:50:23):
As a booth? Yeah, that's that's like the whatever they
call the extra official, the replay official buzzing down to them.
That's when you see when you see all the reps
run under the fields because they've been they've all been
buzzed that, hey, we need to take a look at
this one. It's not just that play can happen for
any play. The play earlier in the game, NDSU challenged it.
They called the time to challenge the play. That's different.
This one was a buzz from above like, hey, we've
(01:50:45):
seen a replay. We're gonna insert ourselves, so you might
want to be taking a look at this.
Speaker 22 (01:50:49):
You might have gotten so could India Indius who could
they have challenged that in the second half because you
got one per half.
Speaker 1 (01:50:54):
Correct, could have could have defeated.
Speaker 21 (01:50:57):
And I know it's tough too because normally if it's
a scoring play, they're all reviewed.
Speaker 23 (01:51:00):
But since they called it incomplete on the.
Speaker 1 (01:51:02):
Sea, yeah, yeah, yeah, yep, So that's the difference there, Eric,
thanks for the call. Appreciate calling in two Bison hotline,
but that was gonna get reviewed one way or another.
I mean, you could you could see before the even
signal they were going to review it. We saw the replay,
everyone did, and the players for UNDUS you were celebrating.
Speaker 23 (01:51:19):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:51:19):
The play clock was winding down for what would have been
I believe a third down play and they weren't getting
ready to snap, but there was no huddle. They weren't
doing anything. So at the very least they're gonna be
taking a tient.
Speaker 21 (01:51:27):
A by challenge, which that could have been a debacle
if they wouldn't have yeah, buzzed down. And then we
get to play a game, and I was looking at
like third and thirteen or whatever it would have been,
and then well that didn't.
Speaker 23 (01:51:38):
Happen, right touch, right there.
Speaker 1 (01:51:42):
Let's a pause ten seconds ser for station identification before
we get back to a couple more text messages. Andy,

Speaker 1 (01:52:03):
In Montana State leads at thirty one to seventeen over
South Dakota. Right now a player from Montana State down
with injuries. It's not Tommy Mallott, that's the number one
thing there, but there is someone with injury. We'll get
a number on that here for you in just a
little bit. But they lead at thirty one to seventeen
an incomplete pass though third and eight, incomplete pass from
a lot so it's gonna be a punt here still
two minutes left in the third quarter. USD will get
(01:52:25):
it back. And I said pregame, Jake, just get to
the fourth quarter with a chance, make this a fourth
quarter game. They can get this ball and even get
across midfield before the third quarter is done and score
early in the fourth. This is a game in the
fourth quarter for USD. That's kind of a small victory.
Speaker 23 (01:52:39):
Yeah, and just put some pressure on Montana State. You
know they haven't.
Speaker 21 (01:52:42):
I think the Idaho game was close in the second half,
but they haven't really played a fourth quarter game yet.
They've kind of blown the doors off everyone they've played.
So South Cola can put some pressure on here. Maybe
we'll get a part return here. We're with you live
from Applebee's here, where.
Speaker 1 (01:52:55):
I know Sam was saying on their postgame show, Sam
Niederman like, I want to call this game. I want
to give you some playback play, but we couldn't. We'll
give you a little bit though. There's a punch in
the cot for USD. They'll have the football with one
fifty six left in quarter number three. Should be a
fun finish. I think in this one. One thing about
this game though usually for Montana State this year, like
you said, they have won other games lopsided league. Usually
(01:53:16):
when they have punched, no one's punched back.
Speaker 6 (01:53:19):
Ye.
Speaker 1 (01:53:19):
I think in this game they're getting punched back a
little bit. It's not really a punch, but like the
guy didn't fall down and he's coming back at you
right now, USD is taking the punch. They get a
chance if they can score, to punch right back and
have this be a game in the fourth might be
a good thing actually for Montana State to experience something
like this, because they'll definitely experience it in Frisco if
they're lucky enough to get that far. A few more
text messages we want to touch on as well, This
(01:53:42):
one from Dale in Fargo. How about first year buys
and coaches after bowl going to Frisco. They have been
just awesome, youah, climbing first year championship, hence first year
championship with a whole new team basically, and how Paulsek
first year going to Frisco, maybe a championship there as well.
Speaker 22 (01:54:00):
So every other year we just.
Speaker 1 (01:54:04):
Remember, we don't do that. But I think it speaks
to the culture of NDSU and just like the program
itself that's bigger than anybody, right, we always say it's
bigger than than one person or one position, and that
speaks to it that you can change coaches. I'm sure
there has been name the program in the FCS that
when NDSU lost Bowl or climb and they're like, Okay,
(01:54:26):
this will be the end. Like, I don't know why
they're gonna be able to continue this thing now the
head coach is gone. They'll hire someone that's not as good,
and it won't be as good anymore. And then it
was just even better, like like just pulling the rug
right from out out from under everybody in the FCS
that you've again hired a coach who has gotten you
back to a national championship.
Speaker 23 (01:54:45):
Game and just hats off, you know.
Speaker 21 (01:54:46):
Jean Taylor started that, now, Matt Larson, Jim Kramer's obviously
been with us through the entirety of it, Nick Gazer.
But like you said, just the culture of NDSU football,
it's special. I have buddies that have now either played here,
played somewhere else, coach somewhere else. Everyone says what we
have here, it's different. It's special. When everyone leaves, they're
always like, how do we recreate that? If like in
(01:55:08):
coach and said, if we could bottle up what we
have here and sell it, we would be million Like
there would be there'd be a lot of big time
college football programs paying a lot of money to figure
out what we have going here, and I can't. Like
you'll talk to former players, former coaches like you talk
about what what is Bison pride to you? Everyone has
their own definition of it. Everyone's is unique and special.
(01:55:28):
But it's just it's extremely unique. And you know, we're
extremely lucky as a region as a community to have this,
you know, Bison football in our community. It's just it's
it's unique.
Speaker 22 (01:55:38):
On our side of it. After the death, the untimely
death of the late Scott Miller, Jeff Calheen takes over right.
His first year was the semi final loss against JAMU
and the Fargo Dome. That's how his season ended as
it played by player announce next year, go back and
win the national championship. We have rob Hip. Jeff goes
on to Florida State, big mistake, goes on to Florida State.
Speaker 1 (01:55:58):
By the way, we have a curse.
Speaker 22 (01:55:59):
We rob Hip, who is here for a year during COVID,
he decides to move on to Google things back in
Texas with his family. Then we bring in Sam Niederman.
Last year, Sam Niederman's career starts with the semi final loss,
don't make it in the National Championship game. And I
said this week to Sam, I'm like, Sam, you have
to continue with this. You're going buys are gonna win.
(01:56:20):
You're gonna call your first game in Frisco. And so
there you go, another kind of align. How those things
history repeat? It does NDSU going to the Natties like
it's tic TACs is uh? You know, that's that's the play.
Speaker 1 (01:56:33):
Everyone.
Speaker 22 (01:56:36):
They also have their own reasons, but I think it's
just it's a testament to you turn over and you
just continue the tradition. You just continue to do it.
Speaker 1 (01:56:43):
We have a couple of suggestions for the play for
the Lance a touchdown at Bryce Lance with a touchdown there,
the Lance leap for six, that oneation to you, Brice
beats the Bunnies thing, the Lance dance it wasn't really
a dance, was more of a catch. I don't know,
but that one's in there as well. Now, how about
this one, the Bryce Lance Trey there his third touchdown
(01:57:06):
of the game. Okay, Trey getting his brother involved there
as well, Trey.
Speaker 22 (01:57:14):
No, Trey Lance, he was a quarter, just had one
year right at the.
Speaker 23 (01:57:17):
Environment in a game.
Speaker 1 (01:57:19):
Yeah yeah, I think we only recruited him because we
were going to.
Speaker 22 (01:57:24):
I think my favorite play of lances an entire career
was having the other ten players on the team pushing
him for like a twenty five. That was my favorite
play of Brycel Trey Lance's career.
Speaker 1 (01:57:37):
That was really good. I gotta gotta give credit on
that one, So I don't want me to Bryce Lance. Trey.
That one's in there as well for ref and then
the I like the Lance Nation or the lancing of
the bunnies. Okay, potential on that we got time. We
go a couple of monks times, So keep on setting
these in seven zero, one, four, seven, six, sixteen sixty
we will maybe put up a poll, will come to
(01:57:58):
a decision and what everyone thinks for the the Trey
Lance touchdown there or just the performances as a whole
three touchdowns in the game. Also, this one from CC
in the Lakes area is Rajah. Okay, I've not heard
anything on Raja I know he did collide with Caleb Fransel,
the linebacker for SDSU. They both were just trying to
make a play running full speed and they having to
(01:58:19):
run into each other. Definitely both knock the wind out
of each other. To say, the episode, at least hopefully
Raja will be okay. You do have a couple of
weeks here to heal him. Just two, not the typical
three we're used to, but just two here.
Speaker 22 (01:58:30):
Yeah, Jake, I want to ask you about that too
that I know you probably had a com but I
want to ask you about these two weeks of NDS
and now.
Speaker 1 (01:58:36):
Best like going winter camp.
Speaker 22 (01:58:38):
It is kind of winter campus, right, like how much
time off? How much time getting back into win do
you like fully engage again or how does that work?
Speaker 21 (01:58:45):
Yeah, so it'll be different obviously this series. Only, like
Andy said, it's two weeks instead of the normal three.
So I guarantee you the guys they're gonna be cut
loose now for now that I don't know because we've
always had three weeks. But normally you get to go home, guys,
catch flights, get back for Christmas, spend the holiday with
your family, and then normally we're back guys from out
of town are only flying back on the twenty.
Speaker 23 (01:59:04):
Sixth if you're from like a local guy. I was morehead,
so I was always here.
Speaker 21 (01:59:07):
But and then the twenty seventh is kind of when
you come back and start ramping it up for you know,
seven or eight practices whatever it takes. Now, with the
only two weeks, right, they play not next Saturday or
not next Monday, but the Monday after, it'll be interesting.
I'm guessing they'll get maybe until Christmas Day off and
then everyone needs to be back on the twenty six
and they'll get back and do a team dinner, kind
(01:59:29):
of just get everyone in town. Obviously we don't know.
The weather's always a factor up here, but it'll be interesting.
But winter camp is just you know, everyone's on the finals.
School's over, so you get to kind of kind of
like what the basketball guys are saying, like during this
time when you're not in school, you kind of feel.
Speaker 23 (01:59:42):
Like a professional athlete a little bit because it's just
all football.
Speaker 21 (01:59:45):
And I was telling Andy out there, like everyone talks.
You know, you don't remember the games. You remember kind
of like the locker room and stuff, like you go
to practice, lift, practice, play, Fortnite play, get on the Xbox, all.
Speaker 23 (01:59:56):
The guys like, just some of that school no school. Yeah,
you're playing Fortnite.
Speaker 21 (01:59:59):
You' in call of duty with the guys and just
hanging out and all football and getting to go play
a national championship.
Speaker 23 (02:00:04):
There's nothing better.
Speaker 1 (02:00:05):
Yeah, it should be a lot of fun. Again, those
that don't know, January sixth, so that that's the date
down in first go to a Monday this year a
little bit different than what it has been in years past.
It will be on a Monday for everyone listening here
to Bison Hotline. We will have shows down there. Yeah,
so feel free to come down and party with us.
We will be down at the Twin Peaks in McKinney,
(02:00:26):
Texas this time, or McKinley, Texas, i should say, so.
I have some shows down there. We'll have pre game
for it. I'll have some postgame coverage out there as well.
I still working out all all the details. We'll lets
you know times and dates and all that kind of
stuff here in just a little bit, so stay tuned
for all that. But we will have shows down in
Texas well. We have a presence down there. I'm sure
Bison Nation will bring down a very good contingent because
(02:00:47):
it has been a couple of years and it's been
down there. So you mentioned the first you know, Georgia
Southern and when this first happened, and doing it for
the first couple of times now being a year removed,
really kind of two years when we had in this
whole sea as well, not doing it for a little
bit thing. Bison Nation might be recharged and want to
go down there, might see a pretty good crowd down
in Friskin.
Speaker 22 (02:01:07):
They probably built at least five or six more interstates
or more levels on the interstates since the bys Ven's
have been down there a couple of years ago.
Speaker 1 (02:01:16):
Most likely by the way South Dakota is moving this football,
they are down near the red zone right now, still
trail thirty one seventeen. They have just started the fourth quarter.
This is what I said, though, like can you score
in the first two to three minutes of this fourth quarter?
It's game on then, folks. At that that point, each
team's got probably two possessions left, depending on how long
they take on those possessions. We'll see what or what
(02:01:37):
USD can do right here. But they got second and
four a handout that's gonna get him a couple of yards,
be a third and very short inside the red zone,
a chance here to make it a one score game
with a touchdown. Usd's not going away, and I think
their game against SDSU or against SDSU against US against
NDSU where they came back in the last couple of
minutes has got to give them some hope and some
faith right now to come back in this game.
Speaker 21 (02:01:58):
Yeah, with Bowen at quarterback, and you know, the Stabler receivers,
they got a really good tight end. They have the
ability to you know, score in bunches. Quiet they Scagan's
NBCU because we blew a coverage at the end of
the game and that guy was wide open, and we
forget about that. We're going to play a national championship
next week or in a couple of weeks. But South Coast, yeah,
South Coast is in this.
Speaker 1 (02:02:16):
But they do here third and one, so there's gonna
be a third and short here. See, they can pick
up a first down and keep this game really interesting. Again,
Montana statu has not kind of been punched back in
these games. There's a first down, so it's gonna be
first down, and it looks like maybe a first and
goal and maybe first and ten from the eleven yard
line there, just inside of eleven thirty to play in
(02:02:37):
quarter number four. Montana State's experiencing something they have not
this year. Okay, just pushing back right now.
Speaker 22 (02:02:42):
Maybe it's beat Nielsen saved the season.
Speaker 1 (02:02:45):
Yeah, just beat Bob. But we love Bob, we love Bob,
but we can beat Bob. Yes we can as well.
So thirty one seventeen. We'll keep you updated on that one.
Dan now texting in as well. Talk to Rajah after
the game. He said he's fine, just got the wid
knocked out of him. So there it goes. Update on
on Rodger and Nelson. He will be flying and good
to go. I don't know if you've ever done something
(02:03:06):
like that, Jake, but those two, him and France, who
are running full speed, neither looking at each other. They're
looking at Cam who was scrambling, and they wouldn't head
on into each other. And that win just not.
Speaker 21 (02:03:15):
So that's why I never ran that fast. You avoid
those hits like that. So that's why ever's overrun fat.
If you're run too fast, you put yourself in jeopardy.
Speaker 22 (02:03:23):
So good call.
Speaker 23 (02:03:24):
That's a smart man right there.

Speaker 6 (02:07:55):
Time for more reaction from today's game. Cure again is
your hosting Andy Rickoff.
Speaker 18 (02:08:01):
Cam takes the snap takes today There it is let
him run on the far sideline again.
Speaker 19 (02:08:10):
The December tradition has returned the Fargo Dome. The Bison
are going back to another national championship game.
Speaker 18 (02:08:19):
Bison twenty eight South Dakota State twenty one. Tak the
music because the Bison aren't going to play Texas once again.
Speaker 1 (02:08:31):
Yes Q the Alabama and it was definitely playing throughout
the Fargo Home today as INDYSU wins at twenty eight
twenty one over SDSU and they are moving on to
Frisco for a chance to play for a national title.
And it might be against Montana State because a bad
snap at the worst time for USD when they got
pushed all the way back third and seventeen from their
(02:08:53):
eighteen yard line of Montana State. They end up just
short of that on a fourth down. Go for a
play right now, So Montana State has the football back
still up thirty one seventeen, but Montana State is pinned
back on their own two right now. So see it.
Maybe USD can make a play and get a safety
and get this ball right back. But it looks like
potentially Montana State in Frisco, the opponent for NDSU is
(02:09:15):
there is eight thirty five left to play there in
the fourth quarter, thirty one seventeen. Bobcats with the lead,
but Andy, Jake and Chris back here with you. A
couple of emails we get to here just quickly to
end things for you. One from Gabe and this one
again our email inbox. I appreciate everybody being a part
of the show today, says I absolutely love this team.
(02:09:36):
Tim Polisek was the perfect higher at the perfect time.
Order has been restored and Tim Poulisick was brought in
the kind of do that get the Bison back to
the top, reignite this fan base a little bit, still
working on that to a degree, I would say, but
today it was a perfect reason why this fan base
should spport this team every single time they came out
and NDISU had the biggest game on the biggest of
(02:09:58):
the stages today got the win against the Jacks.
Speaker 21 (02:10:00):
Yeah, and like you said, you know Tim Paul Sick.
I'll be the first to say everyone in the club out,
Coach Roll was our guy. And you know I've said
this couple of times. I'm glad Matt Larson didn't take
I mean he listened to us. We didn't take too
much a better, terrible or something, but he didn't listen
to a lot of eighteen to twenty I was twenty four.
I was kind of old, but eighteen to twenty four
year old's like, yeah, Matt Larson, you're hired to do
(02:10:20):
this job. You made the right hire. And after getting
to know coach Polis, like being around him, being around
him off the field, and just he's been a like
the email said, home run higher, he's just doing all
the right things that you heard the passion in his
postgame interview with Noligain Noork just how much this program
means to him, how much Fargo means to him and
his wife is. It's been unbelievable and he's he's doing
(02:10:41):
what they hired him to do. We're back in Frisco
where kind of the sheriff is back in town. South
Coast State's back to Little brother now and let's go ye.
Speaker 1 (02:10:49):
Sheriff back in town. I guess they make stsu maybe
the criminal to be thrown in jail. There's a lot
of analogies we could do for that one. This one
also from Donald says, I've been a Bison fan for
all long time, retired military living in Oklahoma City, have
relatives living in Kindred. Been to Frisco three times, and
I'm two and one. We beat James Madison, beat Montana
(02:11:10):
State when their quarterback went out in the first quarter,
that being Tommy Malott, and then we lost against South
Dakota State. It was a nail bier today, but we
found a way to win. Checked tickets for Frisco very
expensive over to eighty apiece. Please if you know anyone
who can go to the championship game and is looking
for two tickets, call myself. Everyone is getting ready for
this game. You should have got tickets early. That's what
(02:11:32):
Bison fans do. We expect to be in Frisco. You
get him at the start of the year.
Speaker 22 (02:11:36):
They usually buy those in July or early August is
when the NCAA puts them on sale. But at the
same time, I think NBSU fans again something different about
the trip to Frisco. This is being a Monday night
game of experiencing what that'll be like, you know, and
I realize that makes it travel a little bit more difficult.
Now you're talking taking two days off, and for a
lot of people that's that's a thing, right, But the
(02:11:58):
good news is you maybe fresh your time off for
the year twenty twenty. Yeah, you might might have to
skip somebody's wedding later in the summer to use those days.
But again, we'll be totally different, and of course with
Bison sixteen sixty having a traditional going down there and
being part of it, and then also locally of the
places that we'll be hosting watch parties and things like
that that I think it'll be very good for the
(02:12:20):
community as well of getting people out on a Monday
night that's a traditionally slow night for people as far
as the entertainment industry goes.
Speaker 1 (02:12:29):
Yeah, so that'll be nice here at Applebee's.
Speaker 22 (02:12:31):
Yeah, we'll be cool to have that aspect of it
to a Monday night game and to have a game
at night and not have to like get up at
four in the morning to tailgate and Frisco and then
worry about getting in the car and driving, you know,
halfway back across the country after that. So interesting, uh,
dynamic that we're just kind of the I guess the
whim of the NCAA of what they want to do
with their television partners.
Speaker 1 (02:12:52):
Yeah, that's how it's going to be. But for NDSU
and for this championship game, we do talk about the
the impact in Frisco. Economic impact down there where bodies
the nations swarms that city. It is crazy. But yeah,
it's a good point. The economic impact back here with
all the watch parties and places that will host you
in places here like Applebee's. There are other places around
town that will host watch parties and people will come
(02:13:12):
in on a Monday night. That's gonna be pretty special too.
And this community coming together for bizing football is always
pretty special.
Speaker 23 (02:13:18):
Absolutely.
Speaker 1 (02:13:19):
Yep, andys he gets to win twenty eight twenty one
over South Dakota State. Montana SE has moved this ball
out from the shadow of their own end zone. So boys,
something I'm taking on the Bobcats.
Speaker 22 (02:13:28):
Yeah, they got four and a half minutes or so.
Speaker 21 (02:13:30):
Yeah, like Montstate will be punning, but yeah, it's they
got a puncher's chance or playing Montana State.
Speaker 22 (02:13:36):
Where are they at on the graph or they had
ninety five.
Speaker 1 (02:13:40):
Something like that. I just think at this point, what
do you think of that matchup? Tommy Malott's really really good.
We've seen them before, We've seen this story before. It's
been a barn burner basically every time we've seen him
in Frisco as well. They're gonna be undefeated. I think
their fan base is going to be as charged up
as they have ever been, right, so maybe just makes
it that much sweeter you can take it away from them.
Speaker 21 (02:13:59):
Yeah, I think it's gonna come down, you know, keeping
keep him a lot in the pocket and make him
be a you know, drop back and go through progression
when he's out in the run, when he's scrambling, he's dangerous.
We know that if defense can play all they played today,
maybe get home in the quarterback one or two more times,
and at the end of the day, we still have
Cam and we have Bryce Lance, now we have you know, Roger.
Speaker 23 (02:14:20):
I like us against anyone.
Speaker 1 (02:14:21):
But it'll be a fun game. I like us against
anybody too.
Speaker 22 (02:14:24):
I'm gonna take coach Paul sex line. They're playing us.
Speaker 23 (02:14:28):
Yeah, love it.
Speaker 22 (02:14:28):
They're playing us. That is just you know, it's like
that mentality, like something that's so simple. But like, no, no,
we're not playing They're playing us. They have to they
have to detend, defend.
Speaker 23 (02:14:39):
What we're doing.
Speaker 1 (02:14:40):
They're playing the aggressor.
Speaker 22 (02:14:42):
Yeah, and I like that, but I agree with you, Jake.
Tommy Mallot is watching him grow over his years of
being touchdown. Tommy is to the guy who's gonna finish
second in the Walter Payton It's it's he's a he's
a dude who's been there. You know what you're getting.
And I don't think they do as much designing of
runs with him. Maybe against NDSU, I think they maybe
try to throw the ball a little bit more.
Speaker 1 (02:15:04):
Teams have had some success, you know, they're trying to
throw them a little bit more, trying to take the
hits off of them. They've ran him more in the
playoffs because of his Winter or Go Home. They also
have a two headed monster at Ronnie Back. They got
the guy who actually finished up speaking of finishing runner
up to NDYSU and the Walter Payton potentially, they got
the guy that finished and Adam Jones finished up runner
up to Marty Brown and the Cherry Rice.
Speaker 22 (02:15:25):
Yeah, I mean running it's one versus two. I mean
it's the two teams that people probably looked at as
the two favorites if you would uh to get to Frisco.
So I think that will be one heck of a
game that Monday night. And again, like I said earlier,
Montana State did exactly what I had said. I don't
know why teams don't do higher a coordinator from NDSU
and make him your head coach.
Speaker 1 (02:15:45):
And see pretty well and see what happens.
Speaker 22 (02:15:47):
It worked. It's worked out pretty darn good for him
so far. In Montanne.
Speaker 1 (02:15:50):
Forget when before Vican got there, they weren't very killing them. Yeah,
and it's something to choke before Vegan show was good.
A good head coach there, got them kind of back
on the right path. And then Vegan has really taken
this whole thing to a completely another level. For the Bobcats,
they looked like the opponent for Andy issue in Frisco.
But Ndyscu went to today twenty eight, twenty one. We're
(02:16:13):
gonna wrap up here and drop for a winner in
just a second. Final thoughts from both of you, gentlemen.
So are up with you? Jake on a monumental victory
here for Andy issue and punching another take it back
to a title game.
Speaker 21 (02:16:23):
Yeah, just you know, like guys have said, back sheriffs
back in town, this is back where NDSU belongs.
Speaker 23 (02:16:27):
Playing for national titles.
Speaker 21 (02:16:29):
Kind of exercised the demons a little bit this year
getting going to an O against South Coast State. They
they had our number for you know, almost a half decade,
and you know, we kind of coach polse that comes
in that unreal senior class from twenty eighteen from SCSU
moves on with all those all Americans.
Speaker 1 (02:16:43):
They had most another big senior class this year too, exactly.
Look like next year they're gonna be fine.
Speaker 23 (02:16:47):
They'll be fine.
Speaker 21 (02:16:48):
But just all is right in the world. NDSU unbelievab
performance buys a nation. You showed out. You guys made
an impact on the game. Let's go down to FRISTC,
go and win. Number ten is a number ten that
would also the number ten title number two. That's when
number ten one for the thumb I'm going before.
Speaker 22 (02:17:02):
Yeah, I think today was it was a great day
of NDSU coming out and not folding under the pressure,
making a couple like literally this game came down to
as we expected, like a handful of plays you could say,
even like three big plays or what the difference was
in this game today and so INSU making those plays.
Nothing but respect and admiration for the players that did it.
(02:17:23):
And Jake, I know that you've been part of these
national championship teams and it's like nothing else. But as
a fan, you have no control. You're at the mercy. Yeah,
so it had to be a little different for you
not having the control, but being fans of this this
team in this university for long time have been It's
been truly a pleasure. And I hope that they write
another chapter in Frisco.
Speaker 1 (02:17:44):
Looking for them writing that chapter. We do have to
give away some tickets to the NDSU men's basketball also
on a heater right now, by the way, the game
coming up on Monday. Go check that one out at
home inside the Shields Center against CSU Bakersfield. But then
their home for the first two games conference play as
well against Saint Thomas and Omaha. Got a pair of
tickets to each of those games. And our winner here
(02:18:06):
at Applebee's is Tracy Broughton. Tracy Broughton is gonna win
two tickets to Saint Thomas and Omaha men's games January
second and January fourth, and then you can just fly
right on down to Frisco after that and see a
Bison national championship as well.
Speaker 23 (02:18:20):
Tracy.
Speaker 1 (02:18:20):
So congratulations, thanks for everyone that showed up here at Applebee's.
Big thanks to Applebee's all year long. This is our
our last show.
Speaker 6 (02:18:28):

Speaker 1 (02:18:29):

card completely free for the holiday season.
Speaker 8 (02:18:35):

stocking stuff for some great apps, great specialists here at Applebee's.
I had the case of das you went back to
that sweet chicken chickets and Chris continued to burn his
taste buds off with the hottest wings he can get.
Let's go, what's what's the flavor.
Speaker 22 (02:18:54):
Hawks or spicy Buffalo. Yeah, there's just a pile of
dead animals sitting in front of me. It's fine. Maybe
rabbits or might not heard that too. I would have
eaten that if you put in front of me.
Speaker 1 (02:19:04):
This season is dead, that is for sure. Andyc gets
to win twenty eight twenty one for our entire broadcast
crew all the way from five a m. With Ross
Uglam and the Bison Report Show, Jay Bartley, as well
the Green and Gold Game Day Show after him, and
then of course Brad Jones the Bison Tailgate Show, and
our producers for all those wonderful shows. Of course that
being Ian Longton who getting got up very early in
(02:19:25):
the morning and got all that stuff done for us
today with the podcasting and the producing of those shows.
And then for Jake Comba, for Chris Hansen, for the
Voice of the Bison, Sam Niederman. We have the Hall
of Famer Phil Hanson into a Gendorf on the call
there the Kessler's doing great work with the spotting and
the parabolic. Of course, our engineers Jake beck Told and
Roman Porterfield and Nick Brenda mule Back in our Bison

Sports Studios, along with cole Ilanimi for all the work
here behind the scenes today, I'm Andy Rikoss saying so
long from Applebee is where the Bison win it twenty
eight to twenty one. Order restored and the sheriff back

Speaker 6 (02:20:04):
